Revolut reportedly disclosed customer data, including Bitcoin records, after unauthorized government request
BTC Bitcoin
CoinGecko News
Original source text
A number of Revolut customers reported being told that some of their personal and financial data, including Bitcoin transactions, was disclosed in response to a government request believed to be legitimate.

According to an email text shared by onchain sleuth ZachXBT, the request was sent from an unauthorized email account using the government agency’s official domain and carried valid domain authentication credentials.

The exposed data included customers’ full names, dates of birth, occupations, postal addresses, email addresses and telephone numbers. Identity and verification information, including passport or driver’s license copies and verification selfies, was also listed.

The exposed financial data included account statements, IBANs, withdrawal records and full transaction histories, including Bitcoin activity. The email said biometric facial telemetry data was not shared.

Experts suggested that Revolut may have failed to recognize that the request was fraudulent before sharing customer information.

“While the incident is likely limited in size it seems to have been targeted at high net worth users,” ZachXBT said.

Revolut has yet to comment on the reported data exposure.

Robinhood Co-Founder Publishes Long Article on Stock Tokenization: Tokenizing stocks on-chain does not alter their underlying attributes, and stock issuers have no right to prevent this.

Robinhood co-founder Vlad Tenev published a lengthy article early this morning outlining Robinhood’s vision to enable global investors, especially non-U.S. users, to gain exposure to U.S. stocks and ETFs via blockchain, with a key focus on whether issuers need to consent to the tokenization of their stocks. Tenev argues that public company stocks are freely transferable personal property, and their owners should have the right to decide how to hold and use them. Issuing companies control the rights attached to their issued securities, but they do not control all third-party financial products built around those securities—a well-established precedent in financial markets, as seen in unsponsored ADRs, options, and structured products. Accordingly, if a product alters the rights of the underlying shares, replaces the company’s official shareholder register, or imposes new obligations on the company or its transfer agent, issuer involvement is required. If it merely creates an independent financial instrument that holds or references freely transferable shares on a 1:1 basis without modifying the issuer’s rights, obligations, or official shareholder records, no issuer consent is necessary. Robinhood operates on a model where third parties issue independent instruments backed 1:1 by underlying shares. Tokenizing stocks should not grant issuers veto powers they did not previously hold, nor should it bar new investors from entering the space solely because issuers are unfamiliar with new technologies. Last week, AMC’s CEO criticized Robinhood’s so-called "synthetic equity market," warning that stock token trading could decouple from listed companies’ financing arrangements, and demanded Tenev and Robinhood halt AMC stock token trading. The ensuing debate has sparked lively discussions across crypto and stock communities.

China’s demand for tokens has seen explosive growth, with consumption projected to reach 100 quadrillion by 2026.

Beating AI Express News: The "2026 Research Report on AI Infrastructure Development in the Agent Era" released by China Telecom Research Institute shows that as the focus of the artificial intelligence industry shifts from competition over large models and computing power to large-scale agent implementation and application monetization, China's token demand is experiencing explosive growth. The report points out that AI is now entering a new development phase centered on agents, which make complex AI technologies invisible and inclusive. The general public and enterprises do not need to master professional technical skills—they can complete end-to-end complex tasks with the help of agents. Rao Shaoyang, Director of the Institute of Industry and Enterprise Strategy at China Telecom Research Institute, projects that China's annual token consumption will reach 100 quadrillion by 2026, and exceed 35 quintillion by 2030, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of nearly 12 times. Micron issues a generous maximum bonus of up to 68 months' salary; the labor union in Taiwan, China still threatens to strike.

Micron Technology announced it will distribute record 2026 fiscal year bonuses to its employees in Taiwan, China, with some staff receiving bonuses equivalent to up to 68 months of salary, and the minimum cash compensation reaching 1.7 million New Taiwan Dollars (approximately $53,800). Entry-level engineers are set to receive an average total bonus of around 3.4 million New Taiwan Dollars, plus annual equity grants. However, the Taoyuan Union, which represents roughly two-thirds of Micron’s workforce in Taiwan, China, still rejects the current plan, insisting that 15% of the company’s operating profit be allocated to employee bonuses. The union added that it will proceed with strike procedures if Micron does not respond to its demands. Micron currently employs about 15,000 people in Taiwan, China, with cumulative investments exceeding 1.6 trillion New Taiwan Dollars. The increased bonus payouts are widely viewed as tied to the profit-sharing mechanisms of South Korean memory chip makers. This year, Samsung Electronics, under pressure from union strikes, ultimately agreed to establish a special bonus pool equal to 10.5% of its semiconductor division’s operating profit. As labor negotiations between Micron and its staff in Taiwan, China enter a critical phase, a potential full-scale strike could disrupt Micron’s production schedule and further roil the global memory chip supply.

Dell surges 12% in a single day to reach an all-time high, as Oracle named it a core supplier for its $95 billion AI spending.

Oracle management explicitly stated during its earnings call that its fiscal 2027 capital expenditure (capex) of $90 billion to $95 billion will be focused on expanding AI data centers, naming suppliers including Dell and HPE. Boosted by this news, Dell Technologies’ U.S. stock surged 11.98% on Friday, hitting a record high, with its market capitalization exceeding $360 billion, bringing its year-to-date gain to nearly 350%. Oracle previously disclosed that its fiscal 2027 capex will increase significantly, primarily for purchasing AI server racks, liquid cooling systems, and networking equipment. Meanwhile, the company’s AI cloud orders continue to grow, further boosting visibility for Dell’s future AI server orders. RBC Capital initiated coverage on Dell and assigned it an "Outperform" rating, noting the company will continue to benefit from the multi-year AI infrastructure investment cycle, and highlighting its supply chain capabilities as a competitive moat. Dell currently has over 6,500 AI server customers; its AI server revenue hit $16.4 billion in the second quarter, up 100% year-over-year, with AI server backlog reaching $95 billion at the end of the quarter. As cloud providers like Oracle continue to ramp up AI infrastructure investments, Dell is emerging as a key beneficiary of the current AI capex expansion cycle.

Revolut exposed Bitcoin records after fake agency request
BTC Bitcoin
CoinGecko News
Original source text
Revolut has disclosed customer identities and financial records, including Bitcoin transaction histories, after acting on a fraudulent request that appeared to come from a government agency.

Summary

Revolut said an unauthorized sender used an official government agency’s email domain. The disclosed records included identity documents, verification selfies, and full transaction histories. Bitcoin wallet reference numbers appeared in account statements listed in the customer notice. ZachXBT said the incident appeared limited and may have targeted high-net-worth users. According to a Revolut customer notice shared on Telegram by on-chain investigator ZachXBT, the request came from an unauthorized email account that used an official government agency’s domain. The message passed domain authentication checks, and Revolut said it believed the request was genuine when it provided the information.

Source: Telegram/zachxbt The notice does not name the agency or say how the unauthorized sender obtained access to its email domain. It also gives no date for the request or the disclosure. ZachXBT said multiple customers received an alert email on Friday, Sep. 11, but neither he nor the portion of the notice shown in his post gave a confirmed count of affected users.

How the fake request reached Revolut In its account of the incident, Revolut said the email appeared to be a legitimate government request because it carried valid domain authentication credentials. The request was sent directly from an unauthorized account using the agency’s official email domain, rather than from an address made to look similar to it.

“As the communication carried valid domain authentication credentials, it was fulfilled under the reasonable belief that it was an authentic government agency request,” the notice said.

The wording describes an unauthorized disclosure made in response to a deceptive request. The notice does not say that an intruder entered Revolut’s systems, accessed customer accounts or withdrew funds. It does not identify the person who sent the request or say whether the agency has investigated the use of its email account.

ZachXBT described the incident as likely limited in size and said it appeared to have targeted high-net-worth users. Revolut’s notice, as shown in the screenshot, does not confirm either the size of the affected group or how the customers were selected.

What Revolut says it disclosed Revolut listed customers’ full names, dates of birth, and occupations among the identity details provided. Contact information included postal addresses, email addresses, and telephone numbers.

The request also resulted in the disclosure of copies of identity documents, such as passports or driver’s licences, along with the selfies customers supplied for identity checks. Revolut drew a distinction between those images and biometric facial telemetry data, which it said was not involved.

Account statements formed another part of the disclosed material. According to the notice, the statements included IBANs, account status, account-opening dates, and Bitcoin wallet reference numbers. Withdrawal records and full transaction histories, including Bitcoin transactions, were also provided.

The notice lists categories of information that may have been disclosed; it does not establish that every affected customer had every type of record on file. Nor does it say that wallet private keys, account passwords or full payment card details were included. Bitcoin transaction histories are particularly relevant to crypto users because the notice places them alongside names and other account records in the information sent to the unauthorized requester.

Revolut serves more than 80 million customers globally, according to an August company announcement. That customer figure describes the size of its business, not the number affected by this disclosure.

What the records could mean for affected customers The UK Information Commissioner’s Office says the possible consequences of a personal data breach include identity theft, fraud and financial loss. Its breach guidance calls for an assessment of the information involved and the likely harm to individuals; it does not establish that anyone has suffered those outcomes in the Revolut incident.

For a customer whose identity document and transaction records were both disclosed, the notice indicates that the recipient could have obtained a detailed account of that person’s finances. ZachXBT’s claim about wealthy users being targeted has not been confirmed by Revolut in the material shown, and no subsequent misuse of the records is documented there.

The regulator’s guidance also says organizations must report certain personal data breaches within 72 hours of becoming aware of them, where feasible, and notify individuals without undue delay when the risk to their rights and freedoms is high. The screenshot does not say whether Revolut has notified a regulator or when the company first learned of the unauthorized request.

In its U.S. security guidance, Revolut tells customers to use in-app support chat to check whether a suspicious contact is genuine. The company says it will not ask customers to share verification or security codes over the phone. The customer notice shown by ZachXBT does not report that such codes were disclosed.

Revolut’s U.S. and crypto operations The incident comes during Revolut’s expansion of its banking and digital-asset services. On Aug. 26, the company began offering its euro-backed EURR stablecoin to selected customers in Denmark, Poland, and Portugal, with further European availability planned, as previously reported by crypto.news. The stablecoin rollout is separate from the customer-record disclosure.

Revolut’s U.S. plans provide context for American readers, although the notice does not identify any affected customer as being in the United States. On Sep. 3, the company received conditional approval for a U.S. bank from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. Its proposed Stamford, Connecticut, bank would receive about $95 million in initial capital and could open in 2027 if it obtains the remaining approvals.

For now, Revolut provides U.S. customer banking services through Lead Bank, according to the earlier report. The proposed national bank still needs deposit insurance from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, Federal Reserve approval, and final OCC authorization before it can open.

Bitcoin Suisse to Cut Up to 60 Jobs in Switzerland
BTC Bitcoin
CoinGecko News

Table of contents

Bitcoin Suisse, one of Switzerland’s longest-running crypto financial services firms, is cutting up to 60 jobs in its home market as it restructures from a primarily Swiss company into an international financial services group. The Zug-based provider said the move will affect up to half of its 120 Swiss jobs.

The reduction adds Bitcoin Suisse to a growing list of crypto firms trimming staff and consolidating operations as the industry matures and cost discipline returns to the market. The changes concentrate on support and development functions rather than customer-facing roles, the company indicated.

A consultation window that runs to September 20 A company spokesperson told Switzerland’s AWP news agency that part of the change stems from software development and back-office functions being consolidated within international hubs. The exact details of the restructuring are the subject of an ongoing consultation process that will run until September 20, the spokesperson said.

Bitcoin Suisse has not yet disclosed a specific figure for job losses at its Zug headquarters, where the company has anchored its operations since it was founded more than a decade ago.

From Swiss crypto pioneer to international group The cuts formalize a shift that Bitcoin Suisse has been building toward all year. The firm secured a MiCAR license and launched a European expansion, and separately received a financial services permission in Abu Dhabi as part of a Middle East push.

Switzerland will remain the center of the company’s customer-facing business, while back-end engineering and administrative work is consolidated internationally, the firm indicated.

What the restructuring signals Bitcoin Suisse’s move echoes similar trims at other crypto companies, including Polygon Labs, which cut staff in a pivot toward payments, and Aave, which reorganized its business as decentralized finance applications consolidated. The common thread is a push for leaner structures built around fewer, larger hubs.

Until the consultation concludes later this month, the final scale of the job cuts remains open. What is already clear is the direction: a smaller Swiss footprint and a broader international one for a firm that has long been a fixture of Switzerland’s Crypto Valley. For its Swiss employees, the coming weeks will determine how many roles are ultimately affected.

XRP could surpass Bitcoin if it reaches $25, says Good Evening Crypto
BTC Bitcoin
CoinGecko News
Original source text
A $25 price target for XRP would represent a dramatic shift in the digital asset landscape, according to crypto commentator Good Evening Crypto, who presented an analysis of how such a valuation could be achieved.

Ripple’s David Schwartz on XRP’s PotentialIn a recent X post, Good Evening Crypto urged viewers to consider the market-cap math behind a $25 XRP, referencing a previous statement from David Schwartz. Schwartz, who serves as Ripple‘s Chief Technology Officer, indicated that he personally believes XRP could one day exceed Bitcoin in terms of market capitalization. However, Schwartz clarified that this was a personal view and not financial advice. When asked whether this change would happen because XRP rises or Bitcoin falls, Schwartz outlined several potential scenarios, but suggested that XRP outpacing Bitcoin through faster growth seemed the more likely route.

Ripple CTO David Schwartz explained that XRP could overtake Bitcoin in market capitalization if digital assets see overall growth, highlighting XRP Ledger’s unique features as potential factors.

The XRP Ledger, a decentralized blockchain platform developed by Ripple for fast and cost-efficient cross-border payments, was also highlighted by Schwartz as an advantage for XRP compared to other cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin.

Good Evening Crypto used this position to support a long-term thesis, arguing that a $25 XRP price would not just be a technical milestone, but would also reflect a shift in overall market dynamics. The comparison noted that while Bitcoin largely targets the store-of-value audience, XRP is positioned as a solution for payments, settlements, and on-demand liquidity.

Mini dictionary: XRP Ledger, a decentralized blockchain launched by Ripple, enables fast, low-cost cross-border transactions and supports tokenization and smart contracts. It is fundamentally different from Bitcoin’s blockchain, which is designed around security and decentralization but lacks native features for payments and speed.

Analyzing the $25 XRP ScenarioTo justify the $25 target, Good Evening Crypto analyzed several money-flow scenarios in the payments ecosystem. The video cited global remittances totaling around $2.1 trillion per year, suggesting that a 10% market share for XRP would equate to $210 billion in annual value. The analysis also referenced the retail and small-business payments sector, estimated at $44 trillion yearly. Even capturing 1% would mean $440 billion in processed volume.

Further projections included institutional and wholesale financial operations, an area Good Evening Crypto places at $200 trillion annually. The video stated that even a modest presence in this segment could contribute significantly to XRP’s valuation.

Market SegmentEstimated Annual VolumeXRP Share in ScenarioPotential ValueGlobal Remittances$2.1 trillion10%$210 billionRetail & SMB Payments$44 trillion1%$440 billionInstitutional/Wholesale$200 trillionVariable (not specified)Significant (if realized)Regulatory Developments and Institutional DemandThe analysis also cited potential impacts from regulatory changes. Good Evening Crypto pointed to the so-called Clarity Act, suggesting that growing support for this framework in the United States Senate—highlighted by Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong—could provide a clearer legal environment for XRP to thrive.

ETFs, corporate treasury strategies, RLUSD collateral, and emerging institutional demand were named as factors that could impact XRP’s supply dynamics and market price. While these ideas are speculative, the video asserts that such developments—if realized—could drive further adoption and potentially assist in achieving the $25 target.

Good Evening Crypto states that a $25 XRP price would demand substantial adoption across payment networks, institutional finance, and tokenization use cases, resulting in faster growth than Bitcoin.

In conclusion, Good Evening Crypto emphasized that the $25 price target for XRP is based on the assumption of dramatic growth in utility, institutional support, and regulatory clarity—rather than guaranteed outcomes.

Ex-Ripple CTO David Schwartz says XRP can surpass Bitcoin by outpacing its growth
BTC Bitcoin
CoinGecko News
Original source text
David Schwartz, co-creator of the XRP Ledger and former Chief Technology Officer at Ripple, stated that XRP has the potential to overtake Bitcoin in market capitalization, provided it grows more rapidly as the digital asset sector expands.

Schwartz discusses XRP’s potential pathSchwartz appeared in a recent Digital Perspectives video, where he addressed whether there is a realistic pathway for XRP to surpass Bitcoin’s market cap in the future. Rather than suggesting this scenario would require Bitcoin to decline, Schwartz highlighted the importance of XRP outpacing Bitcoin as the crypto market develops.

When asked directly if XRP might eventually overtake Bitcoin, Schwartz answered that he believes it is possible. He explained that XRP could achieve this position not by Bitcoin losing value, but by expanding at a faster rate than its main competitor.

In Schwartz’s view, “It wouldn’t happen from Bitcoin shrinking. It would happen from XRP growing faster than Bitcoin.”

The remarks quickly became central to the discussion, with Digital Perspectives emphasizing Schwartz’s perspective as a significant viewpoint on future market dynamics.

Growth driven by technology and market expansionRather than focusing on a zero-sum outcome among top cryptocurrencies, Schwartz pointed to the potential for simultaneous growth within the digital asset space. He argued that most leading cryptocurrencies could deliver substantial gains as the sector matures, even if a few may fall out of favor.

Schwartz attributed XRP’s potential advantage to the technical capabilities of the XRP Ledger, including speed and advanced features that may not be supported on the Bitcoin network. In his comments, he suggested that the XRP Ledger could capture more value if market participants show increased interest in its functionality.

Schwartz noted, “The XRP Ledger gets more of that growth because of its higher functionality and/or higher speed and/or people are interested in features that Bitcoin can’t support.”

In a rapidly evolving environment, where regulatory decisions or new altcoin listings can trigger significant shifts within seconds, many investors are seeking unified platforms for market monitoring. As a result, several traders are moving towards privacy-focused solutions like CryptoAppsy, which combine real-time charts, tailored news feeds, price alerts, and macroeconomic data without requiring an account. This consolidation helps streamline trading decisions and reduces the friction caused by juggling separate applications.

XRP’s market cap gap and what it would take to bridge itCurrently, Bitcoin’s market capitalization stands around $1.54 trillion, while XRP’s valuation is approximately 18 times smaller. For XRP to match Bitcoin’s market cap at current supply levels, it would need to add roughly $1.49 trillion, which would position the token near the $24.50 range.

These calculations, however, are derived from present data and do not reflect official price targets set by Schwartz. Instead, he focused on the overall conditions required for such a transition, emphasizing that only a much larger total crypto market would create the environment for XRP to outpace Bitcoin.

He explained that this scenario depends on digital assets achieving major success across the board, not on Bitcoin losing its existing value. Under such circumstances, Schwartz believes XRP and other major assets could grow substantially together, with the possibility of XRP taking the lead if its innovations deliver a stronger market position.

Analysis: Bitcoin sentiment indicator hits a two-year high, market frenzy is cooling down.

CryptoQuant analyst Darkfost stated that Bitcoin’s recent rally has lifted investor sentiment to its strongest level since March 2024. The market sentiment metric he tracked once surged above 89/100, entering the "extreme greed" territory. This indicator integrates multiple data points including the Fear & Greed Index, with a scale spanning -100 to +100, where -100 corresponds to extreme fear and +100 to extreme greed. Darkfost pointed out that extremely bullish or bearish market sentiment typically signals a potential trend inflection point. Currently, as prior market euphoria gradually recedes, the sentiment metric is cooling to a more normal level, while Bitcoin continues to struggle to defend its current price range.

The crypto ETF market delivered a split verdict on September 11. Bitcoin funds bled $13.29 million in net outflows on the day, while Ethereum ETFs absorbed $216 million in fresh capital.

What the numbers actually say The $13.29 million Bitcoin ETF outflow figure comes from SoSoValue’s tracker, but context matters here. In the three days running up to September 11, Bitcoin ETFs had already shed roughly $450 million in net outflows. The $13.29 million reading on the 11th looks less like a recovery and more like the bleeding slowing to a trickle after a rough week.

For comparison, Bitcoin ETFs posted a single-day inflow of $730.9 million on September 3. The reversal from that high to sustained outflows within days is the kind of whipsaw that keeps risk managers up at night.

It is worth flagging that different data providers are not always reading from the same sheet. Some trackers reported Bitcoin outflows closer to 3,391 BTC on the same date, which works out to roughly $267 million at prevailing prices, alongside Ethereum-side outflows of 17,723 ETH, valued at approximately $46 million. The methodology gap between trackers reflects the fragmented nature of ETF flow reporting, where timing of NAV calculations and data cut-off windows can produce materially different headlines from the same underlying market activity.

The bigger picture: $55 billion in and still counting Bitcoin ETFs have accumulated more than $55 billion in cumulative net inflows since their US launch in January 2024. Total assets under management across the major Bitcoin ETF issuers stood near $97 to $99 billion in mid-September. The dominant players in that AUM stack are BlackRock, Fidelity, Grayscale, and ARK 21Shares, with BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust consistently leading on volume.

Capital rotating within the crypto ETF ecosystem is different from capital leaving it. If institutions were simply de-risking, you would expect outflows across both products. The fact that Ethereum saw substantial inflows on the same day Bitcoin was bleeding suggests this was a relative value trade, or at minimum, a meaningful shift in institutional preference between the two assets.

What the rotation signals for markets The macro backdrop on September 11 was not neutral. Inflation data and Federal Reserve meeting calendars were both active considerations for institutional allocators during this period, and rate-sensitive positioning tends to show up in flow data before it shows up in prices.

For Bitcoin specifically, the week of September 8 through 11 represents a stress test for the ETF wrapper thesis. Nearly $450 million in outflows over three days, following a single week of strong inflows, is not the behavior of a purely patient capital base. The cumulative $55 billion inflow figure suggests the structural demand story remains intact, but the short-term volatility in weekly flows is a reminder that ETF wrappers do not change the underlying asset’s volatility profile.

NFT sales rise 6.8% to $46.8M as Bitcoin trades surge
BTC Bitcoin ETH Ethereum
CoinGecko News
Original source text
NFT sales reached approximately $46.78 million over the seven days ending Sep. 12, up 6.8% from the previous seven-day period, according to CryptoSlam data. Ethereum led blockchain sales, while a small number of high-value Bitcoin transactions accounted for much of the week’s activity.

Summary

NFT sales rose 6.8% to $46.78 million across the seven-day reporting window. Buyer addresses fell 84.67% to 41,959, even as transactions rose 48.75% to 917,549. Ethereum led blockchains with $16.83 million in sales, down 6.36%. Bitcoin sales climbed 50.12% to $9.44 million, helped by several large BRC-20 NFT trades. Polygon-based Courtyard topped collections with $6.67 million in sales across 104,404 transactions. According to data from CryptoSlam, the increase in dollar sales came alongside a steep drop in the addresses recorded as buyers and sellers. Buyer addresses fell 84.67% to 41,959, while seller addresses declined 85.13% to 43,247. The dashboard recorded 917,549 transactions, up 48.75%.

Those counts describe addresses, not confirmed individual buyers or sellers. They also show why the higher sales total needs context: more transactions took place despite far fewer addresses appearing in the buyer and seller figures.

Ethereum leads NFT sales with $16.83 million Ethereum remained the largest blockchain for NFT sales at $16.83 million, although its total fell 6.36% from the prior period. CryptoSlam recorded 8,271 buyer addresses on Ethereum, down 79.37%, and $794,730 in wash-trading volume. The dashboard lists wash volume separately from sales; the two figures should not be added together.

Ethereum leads weekly NFT blockchain sales | Source: CryptoSlam Bitcoin ranked second with $9.44 million in sales, a 50.12% increase. Its buyer-address count fell 82.79% to 2,255, while listed wash volume was $74,767. Bitcoin’s gain was much stronger than Ethereum’s, but its collection and individual-sale rankings show that a handful of transactions carried a large share of that volume.

Polygon followed with $7.71 million in sales, up 7.73%, and 13,888 buyer addresses, down 85.34%. CryptoSlam separately displayed $17.11 million in Polygon wash volume. Because that figure is larger than the chain’s listed sales, it should not be read as additional collectible purchases.

BNB Chain ranked fourth at $4.02 million, up 25.99%, followed by Base at $2.48 million, down 35.34%, and Solana at $2.30 million, up 32.91%. Buyer-address counts fell on all six of the leading chains shown in the dashboard, including a 90% decline on BNB Chain and an 86.97% drop on Base.

The six networks together accounted for approximately $42.78 million of the $46.78 million global sales total. Smaller networks supplied the remainder. For U.S. readers following NFT activity across chains, the split matters: Ethereum led in dollar volume, while Bitcoin posted the largest weekly sales gain among the top six.

Courtyard tops weekly NFT collection sales Courtyard led collections with $6.67 million in sales on Polygon, up 8.46%. It recorded 104,404 transactions, 16,253 buyer addresses and 14,268 seller addresses. Transactions rose 9.98%, although buyer addresses fell 14.60%.

Courtyard tops weekly NFT collection sales | CryptoSlam Courtyard’s NFTs represent ownership of physical collectibles held through its platform, according to Polygon’s description of the project. Its high transaction count therefore sits in a different category of activity from the week’s largest Bitcoin BRC-20 NFT transfers.

Ethereum-based Argonauts ranked second with $4.36 million in sales, up 109.04%. The collection recorded 2,331 transactions and 656 buyer addresses. Despite the increase in sales value, its transaction count fell 25.14% and buyer addresses dropped 21.72%.

The Bitcoin-based $X@AI BRC-20 NFTs collection placed third with $2.90 million, up 217.88%, but reached that total through just nine transactions involving seven buyer addresses. Its largest displayed sale, at $2.10 million, represented about 72% of the collection’s weekly volume. CryptoSlam classified the transfers as NFT sales; the dashboard alone does not establish that they reflect broad demand for conventional digital collectibles.

Another Bitcoin collection, $X@AGI BRC-20 NFTs, ranked fourth at $1.72 million across three transactions. CryptoSlam showed a 7,762.30% weekly increase, a percentage shaped by the small number of sales. Its largest displayed transaction was worth $1.14 million, or roughly two-thirds of the collection’s weekly total.

CryptoPunks followed at $1.13 million across 15 transactions, down 41.84%. BNB Chain’s OI NFT recorded $1.00 million across 2,001 transactions, with 2,001 buyer addresses and two seller addresses. Guild of Guardians Heroes placed seventh at $952,128, down 2.27%, ahead of Bitcoin-based $ATMC BRC-20 NFTs at $920,976, up 80.47%.

Bitcoin BRC-20 NFTs dominate the largest sales The five largest individual sales displayed by CryptoSlam were all Bitcoin BRC-20 NFTs. The top-ranked $X@AI BRC-20 NFT sold for $2,095,886.72, or 26.2326 BTC, approximately five days before the Sep. 12 screenshot.

Top NFT collectible sales this week | Source: CryptoSlam A $X@AGI BRC-20 NFT followed at $1,140,988.93, or 14.3755 BTC, approximately three days before the screenshot. Another $X@AGI item sold for $574,078.04, or 7.1817 BTC, roughly six days before it.

Fourth was a $X@AI BRC-20 NFT at $401,684.92, settled for 5.0818 BTC, approximately five days before the screenshot. A further $X@AI item completed the top five at $395,775.82, or 5 BTC, roughly three days before it. Together, those five listed trades were worth about $4.61 million, close to half of Bitcoin’s weekly NFT sales total.

As oil prices top $100, the BRICS Summit has centered on Iran, yet divisions among its members have deepened.

The BRICS Leaders' Summit was held in New Delhi, India. As the ongoing conflict involving Iran continues to disrupt the Strait of Hormuz and Red Sea, and international oil prices have topped $100, Iran emerged as one of the core topics at this year's summit. Member states including China, Russia and India have direct communication channels with Iran, a diplomatic advantage the U.S. currently lacks. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian called on member states ahead of the summit to establish alternative financial instruments to reduce reliance on the Western-led financial system, and criticized the U.S.-dominated global order. Russian President Vladimir Putin, meanwhile, advocated for advancing the establishment of a BRICS platform more independent from Western rules, with a focus on strengthening cooperation in payments, investment, technology and infrastructure. However, it will not be easy for BRICS to position itself as a mediator in the Middle East crisis. Iran is on opposing sides of a conflict with the United Arab Emirates (UAE), another BRICS member, which has previously suspended trade and financial exchanges with Iran; India, meanwhile, must balance its relations with the U.S., Gulf states, Russia and Iran. Divergences among member states previously led to the foreign ministers' meeting failing to issue a joint statement. What the market is currently more focused on is whether BRICS can reach a minimal consensus on energy security, cross-border payments and the Middle East situation. With ongoing disruptions to shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, whether the summit can ultimately deliver a unified stance will also serve as an important window for observing global energy and geopolitical trends.

Viewpoint: The Federal Reserve’s interest rate hikes are fundamentally unnecessary, and the overall economy is stable.

Liz Miller, founder and president of U.S. wealth management firm Summit Place Financial Advisors, said that while markets widely expect the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates next week, further policy tightening is "fundamentally unnecessary" given the overall economic stability. Miller noted, "I think most investors believe the Fed will raise rates next week, and I also think that’s highly probable. But it’s fundamentally unnecessary. I’d be interested to hear the discussions at the policy meeting, as some Fed officials firmly believe action is needed before overall inflation picks up to push it back to the 2% target. However, if we take a patient view of other parts of the economy, they are actually performing quite stably. I’m not sure a broad rate hike is truly necessary. We can continue to monitor whether rising oil prices will spill over and watch core inflation gradually fall."

Whale Activity in Bitcoin and Altcoins: 4 Key Metrics
BTC Bitcoin LINK Chainlink USD1 USD1
CoinGecko News
Original source text

Grayscale’in GLNK ETF’i, Coinbase Prime üzerinden yaklaşık 2,38 milyon dolar değerinde 203.810 LINK daha satın aldı.

Bu işlemle birlikte fonun son 18 gündeki toplam LINK birikimi 1,05 milyon adede ulaştı. Birikimin güncel piyasa değeri ise yaklaşık 12,12 milyon dolar seviyesinde bulunuyor.

Chainlink’in kendisi de stratejik rezervini büyütmeye devam ediyor. Proje, son işlemle yaklaşık 1,06 milyon dolar değerinde 91.100 LINK daha rezervine ekledi.

Chainlink Rezervi 67 Milyon Doları Aştı Son alımla Chainlink’in son 30 günlük toplam stratejik LINK birikimi 511.000 adede yükseldi. Bu miktarın güncel değeri yaklaşık 5,52 milyon dolar olarak hesaplanıyor.

Böylece Chainlink’in toplam stratejik rezervi 5,86 milyon LINK seviyesine çıktı.

Bitcoin: Miners Turn to Zcash for Higher Profitability
BTC Bitcoin ZEC Zcash
CoinGecko News

9h16 ▪ 12 min read ▪ by Evans S.

Summarize this article with:

Zcash mining currently yields much more per unit of electricity than Bitcoin mining. At the beginning of September, an Antminer Z15 Pro generated about 708 dollars in gross revenue per megawatt-hour consumed, compared to 179 dollars for an Antminer S23 Pro dedicated to BTC. The ratio therefore approaches 4 to 1. This figure does not correspond to net profit: electricity, hosting, maintenance, and depreciation still need to be paid. But it is enough to explain why new miners are now looking much more closely at Zcash.

In brief A Z15 Pro generates about 708 $/MWh on Zcash, compared to 179 $/MWh for an S23 Pro on Bitcoin. Zcash’s sol rate has risen from about 25 to over 30 GSol/s in a few weeks. The arrival of new machines is already starting to reduce ZEC’s advantage. Bitcoin is Outpaced in Revenue Generated per Megawatt-Hour The first figure is hard to ignore. At the end of August, an Antminer Z15 Pro yielded about 727.30 dollars per MWh. By early September, the figure had dropped to 708 dollars. In the same comparison, the S23 Pro dedicated to Bitcoin runs around 179 dollars. An older S21 Pro drops to 113.45 dollars.

However, Cointribune noted this week an improvement in BTC mining: the hashprice increased by 22.24% in one month to reach 39.63 dollars per PH/s per day. Bitcoin miners’ revenues are rebounding, but the hashrate does not follow.

This is not enough to close the gap. The ratio between 708 and 179 is about 3.96. That is where the “four times more” mentioned in current comparisons comes from.

However, it is necessary to specify what we are talking about. This calculation compares the gross revenue produced by the same amount of energy. It does not mean that a Zcash miner automatically pockets four times more profit than a Bitcoin miner.

The machines, their prices, their lifespan, and availability are not the same. An operator who already owns a center filled with S23 Pros cannot simply decide, Monday morning, to mine Zcash with these devices. Bitcoin uses SHA-256. Zcash operates with Equihash. The ASICs are specialized.

What the 708 Dollars per MWh Actually Represent The Z15 Pro consumes about 2.78 kW. At full load over twenty-four hours, that amounts to nearly 66.7 kWh. With a gross yield of 708 dollars per MWh, a machine currently produces around 47 dollars of revenue per day before expenses. The Energy Mag arrives at the same order of magnitude.

Electricity then rapidly changes the outcome. At 0.05 dollars per kWh, 66.7 kWh costs slightly more than 3.30 dollars per day. At 0.10 dollars, the energy bill increases to about 6.70 dollars.

This is still not profit. Hosting costs must be deducted when externalized, pool fees, fans, maintenance, downtime, taxes, and especially depreciation of the Z15 Pro.

The same goes for Bitcoin. For this reason, revenue per MWh is primarily useful to industrial operators. They already have a certain amount of electricity and must decide which machine deserves to consume it.

The reasoning then changes completely. The question is no longer: “Which crypto is worth the most?” It becomes: “Which computing load best transforms my megawatt into dollars today?”

In this precise ranking, Zcash clearly outperforms Bitcoin. But it is not first. Some sources cite about 941 dollars per MWh for certain AI cloud loads. The Z15 Pro ranks between artificial intelligence and BTC mining.

The Rise of ZEC Has Shaken Miners’ Calculations This performance difference primarily comes from Zcash’s price. The ZEC surpassed 1,000 dollars on September 4, after previously trading below 900 dollars during earlier profitability estimates. The Z15 Pro earned 727.30 dollars per MWh on August 24, when ZEC was at a lower level.

The token’s rise mechanically increases the dollar value of rewards received by miners. But another event happened almost simultaneously. Grayscale’s Zcash ETF, ZCSH, began trading on NYSE Arca on August 25. The SEC had made its registration effective the day before. The product holds ZEC directly.

Two weeks later, assets under management exceeded 500 million dollars. Grayscale reported cumulative inflows of more than 70 million dollars since the start of trading, in addition to a previously announced investment of 100 million dollars.

The timing is interesting. It does not allow us to claim that the ETF alone pushed ZEC above 1,000 dollars. Several factors can move an asset so quickly. Nevertheless, it shows that a new financial demand arose at the same time mining revenues exploded.

Zcash also has a mechanism Bitcoin miners know well: proof-of-work, capped maximum supply of 21 million units, and rewards distributed to those securing the network.

The similarity then partly stops. Zcash adds privacy features and uses a different algorithm. For investors, these are two assets. For a data center operator, they are primarily two different ways to monetize electricity.

Cypherpunk and Foundry Already Arrive with Industrial Means The profitability increase did not remain long reserved for small miners. On August 18, Cypherpunk Technologies announced a 33.33 million dollar operation with Winklevoss Capital to build what it presents as the world’s largest Zcash mining fleet.

The deployed power reaches about 4.2 GSol/s. At the time of the announcement, this represented nearly 18% of the total sol rate of Zcash. The machines are installed in the United States. Cypherpunk also states that about 43,800 ZEC are distributed every month to the network miners.

This is not the only institutional arrival. Foundry, already leading a major Bitcoin mining infrastructure, launched this year a pool dedicated to Zcash. The service specifically targets companies and professional miners, with KYC, AML procedures, and reporting adapted to companies.

This movement matters. Zcash had long maintained a mining industry much smaller than Bitcoin’s. The arrival of public companies, large pools, and capital is gradually changing the scale.

And the effects are already visible in the network figures. At the end of August, the sol rate was around 25 GSol/s. Early September, it surpassed 30 GSol/s. More than 20% increase in a few days.

It is estimated that such an addition would equate to almost 6,000 additional Z15 Pros if it came solely from this model. The network actually uses several types of machines, so this number mainly serves as a power equivalent. Miners saw the revenues. They came.

The More Zcash Attracts Miners, the More the Advantage Shrinks This is already the paradox of the moment. The ZEC crypto increased between August 24 and early September. Yet, the Z15 Pro revenue fell from 727.30 to 708 dollars per MWh. About 3% less.

Why?

Because the sol rate increased faster. The available rewards do not simply multiply because more machines join the network. They must be shared among more computing power.

A miner thus recovers a smaller share. This mechanism also exists on Bitcoin. When a hashprice improvement attracts additional ASICs, competition increases. Difficulty eventually adjusts and part of the margin disappears.

On Zcash, the process can be much more brutal because the network is smaller. A few new GSol/s already represent a significant portion of total power. For a company now considering ordering several thousand machines, the 708 dollars per MWh therefore does not guarantee 2027.

They describe September 2026. That’s all. Calculations can change if ZEC declines, if the sol rate accelerates again, if the price of Z15 Pros increases, or if electricity becomes more expensive. A high yield precisely attracts what eventually reduces it: new competitors.

Bitcoin Remains Immense, But Its Miners Are Going Through a Difficult Year The fact that Zcash yields more per MWh does not mean that its industry has become larger than Bitcoin’s. Bitcoin remains far ahead in network value, computing power, industrial investments, liquidity, and mining ecosystem size.

The problem is rather margin compression. In June, JPMorgan estimated that 15 to 20% of Bitcoin miners were operating at a loss under conditions observed at that time. 20% of Bitcoin miners in the red, according to JPMorgan

Canaan’s results published on September 8 provide a concrete example. The company produced 243 BTC in the second quarter of 2026. Its mining revenues reach 17.7 million dollars, versus 28.1 million a year earlier.

Canaan reports an average competitive electricity cost of about 0.043 dollars per kWh. Even with this cheap electricity, the period was not easy. Mining activity costs reached 20.4 million dollars for the quarter, an amount that includes electricity, hosting, and machine depreciation.

Bitcoin has since rebounded and the hashprice has improved. Yet not all miners rush to add machines. The hashrate remains below the previous peak, while some companies now seek another use for their data centers. Zcash arrives precisely at the right time to take advantage of this hesitation.

AI Now Competes with Bitcoin and Zcash for the Same Megawatts The real competitor to crypto mining might not actually be another blockchain.

It is AI. Large miners already own what artificial intelligence companies seek: available electricity, land, network connections, data centers, and experience in operating intensive computing loads.

Several Bitcoin mining players have therefore started signing high-performance computing contracts. Cointribune has already observed this migration: some operators reserve a growing share of their electrical capacity to AI rather than BTC. The rush of miners towards AI weighs on Bitcoin’s hashrate

Some cloud AI loads would generate around 941 dollars per MWh. Zcash is around 708. Bitcoin, with the S23 Pro used in the comparison, is around 179. These are not three perfectly interchangeable activities.

Converting a mining site into an AI data center requires significant investments: cooling, fiber, guaranteed availability, GPU servers, and long-term contracts. But this is now the comparison financial management is making.

Each megawatt can be allocated somewhere. Bitcoin must therefore defend the electricity that powers it not only against other proof-of-work cryptos but also against clients capable of signing multi-year contracts for AI computing.

Zcash currently benefits from a rare window. Its crypto has risen sharply. The number of miners has not yet fully caught up with the price. The energy revenue remains almost four times higher than that of Bitcoin taken as reference.

This window can last. It can also close quickly. The sol rate has already increased by more than 20%, and the Z15 Pro revenue has declined despite the rise in ZEC. The market is already doing its job.

For miners, the conclusion is therefore less spectacular than the 4x ratio. Zcash currently yields much more per megawatt-hour. Bitcoin remains a much deeper industry. And AI pays even more in some configurations. Three markets. One resource: electricity.

Bitcoin ETFs lose $462.7M as Ethereum funds gain $196.9M

Original source text
U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs have lost $462.7 million during the September 8–11 trading week, while Ethereum funds have gained $196.9 million and Solana funds have drawn a smaller $9.7 million inflow.

Summary

Bitcoin ETFs recorded net outflows in all four trading sessions, led by a $282.7 million loss Thursday. Ethereum ETFs gained $216.4 million Friday, turning their weekly total positive. Solana funds added $9.7 million, while Hyperliquid funds lost $26.5 million. The four ETF groups tracked by Farside posted a combined $282.6 million net outflow. Farside Investors’ Bitcoin ETF data shows that the funds lost money each day from Tuesday through Friday. U.S. markets were closed Monday, September 7, for Labor Day, leaving four sessions in the reporting week. Farside’s separate tables put Ethereum and Solana funds in positive territory, while Hyperliquid funds ended with outflows.

Bitcoin ETF losses peaked on Thursday Bitcoin funds began Tuesday with $46.6 million in net outflows. The daily loss rose to $120.2 million Wednesday and $282.7 million Thursday before easing to $13.2 million Friday, according to Farside. The four sessions erased part of the $986.7 million that the same funds had gained in the previous trading week.

ARK 21Shares’ ARKB had the largest weekly outflow among individual Bitcoin funds at $234.2 million. Its $164.3 million loss on Thursday accounted for much of that amount. Grayscale’s GBTC followed with $129.1 million in weekly outflows, including $65.5 million on Tuesday and $36.4 million on Thursday.

BlackRock’s IBIT lost a net $52.5 million over the week. After taking in $10.7 million on Tuesday, it posted outflows of $19.5 million on Wednesday, $24.5 million on Thursday, and $19.2 million on Friday. Fidelity’s FBTC finished the week down $50.7 million, while VanEck’s HODL lost $13.1 million.

A few products still drew money. Morgan Stanley’s MSBT gained $19.7 million across the four sessions, with inflows recorded each day. Bitwise’s BITB ended with a $1.9 million gain after its $14.5 million Tuesday inflow was largely offset by a $12.6 million Thursday outflow.

The weekly flow figures describe subscriptions and redemptions in U.S.-listed funds. They do not show whether a particular holder bought or sold Bitcoin directly. In August, crypto.news reported Jane Street held more than $1 billion in spot Bitcoin ETF shares at the end of June, including roughly $828 million in IBIT. The regulatory filing showed an earlier quarter-end position, not the firm’s holdings during the September trading week.

Ethereum ETFs turned positive after Friday’s inflow Ethereum funds entered Friday with a combined $19.5 million net outflow for the week. Farside recorded a $24.3 million loss Tuesday, a $34.7 million gain Wednesday, and a $29.9 million loss Thursday. Friday’s $216.4 million inflow took the weekly result to a $196.9 million gain.

BlackRock’s ETHA supplied most of Friday’s inflow, adding $148.8 million. The fund finished the week with $139.9 million in net inflows after a $18.6 million outflow on Thursday, which partly offset its gains on Wednesday and Friday. BlackRock’s staked Ethereum fund, ETHB, added $55.1 million for the week, with $22.9 million arriving Wednesday and $18.3 million Friday.

Bitwise’s ETHW gained $29.1 million, all on Friday. VanEck’s ETHV drew $3.7 million the same day. Fidelity’s FETH moved the other way: a $25.2 million outflow on Thursday left it with a $3.9 million weekly loss despite inflows on Tuesday and Friday.

Grayscale’s ETHE lost $17.3 million over the four sessions. Its smaller ETH fund lost $11.8 million after a $24.6 million Tuesday outflow outweighed later gains. Ethereum ETFs brought in $215.3 million in the previous week, based on Farside’s daily totals, making the latest four-session gain slightly smaller despite Friday’s large inflow.

The listed products give U.S. investors a way to trade exposure to Bitcoin or Ethereum through fund shares. Earlier crypto.news covered Morgan Stanley’s holdings in BlackRock’s Bitcoin ETF, which its second-quarter filing put at about 16.5 million shares after a 23% increase. The report also described its exposure to Ether and Solana; those quarter-end holdings cannot be used to identify who drove this week’s ETF flows.

Solana ETFs gained $9.7 million Solana funds posted their only positive day on Wednesday, when Farside recorded $11.2 million in net inflows. Smaller losses of $0.7 million Tuesday, $0.5 million Thursday, and $0.3 million Friday reduced the weekly total to a $9.7 million gain.

Bitwise’s BSOL accounted for $9.5 million of the weekly inflow. The fund received $11.2 million on Wednesday, then lost $1.4 million on Thursday and $0.3 million on Friday. VanEck’s FSOL added $0.9 million Thursday, and its TSOL fund gained $0.5 million Tuesday. Grayscale’s GSOL recorded a $1.2 million outflow Tuesday and no further net movement in the Farside table.

Hyperliquid funds lost money in three sessions Hyperliquid ETFs recorded $26.5 million in weekly net outflows. Farside listed a $13 million loss Tuesday, followed by $5.3 million Wednesday and $8.2 million Friday; its table showed no net flow Thursday.

Bitwise’s BHYP accounted for $20.2 million of the weekly loss. It lost $8.1 million Tuesday, $5.3 million Wednesday, and $6.8 million Friday. The 21Shares THYP fund lost $6.3 million across Tuesday and Friday, while Farside recorded no net movement for HYPG during the week.

Bitcoin reserves at Binance hit a 2-year high – Is selling pressure building?
BTC Bitcoin
CoinGecko News
Original source text
Binance’s Bitcoin [BTC] holdings have climbed above 693,000 BTC—the highest level in almost two years. In fact, Binance’s holdings have risen by around 77,000 BTC since the end of April.

The most simple reason behind this surge could be that investors transferred Bitcoin to Binance [BNB] during periods of strong price appreciation. This mainly includes the May rally and the more recent August rally.

For those confused, when investors expect to sell, they often move BTC from personal or cold wallets to exchanges to make large trades’ execution easier.

Therefore, a rising exchange balance can sometimes indicate that potential selling supply is building up, although it’s not a final confirmation on the sell-off.

Source: CryptoQuant What’s actually behind this surge? Well, Binance’s deep liquidity explains why it is seeing such large Bitcoin flows.

Traders who want to buy or sell substantial amounts of BTC generally prefer such platforms because large orders can be executed with less impact on the market price.

The second reason behind this surge could be SAFU, or the Secure Asset Fund for Users. SAFU is Binance’s emergency protection mechanism designed to help protect users in extreme situations.

To help the Bitcoin community through this transitional period, this fund intends to deploy $1 billion to secure roughly 15,000 BTC.

The last reason could be the rise in scams and hacks, where the total losses have already crossed $1.732 billion in 2026. So for instance, when the recent ColdCard exploit happened, in which the attacker is still moving the stolen Bitcoin, some holders temporarily moved their Bitcoin to established third-party platforms.

Is this an early warning sign of a sell-off? This comes on the heels of Bitcoin’s supply growth surging at a faster pace in 2026 than in several previous years. The 2026 line has reached roughly 6–7 million BTC by around day 250. Drawing comparisons with 2025 and earlier years at similar points, the 2026 pace appears relatively strong, suggesting more BTC is entering the market.

Source: CryptoQuant However, this surge has also created an unwanted FUD (fear, uncertainty, and doubt) in the market. This is because if a large portion of over 693,000 BTC held on Binance eventually moves into the market for sale, it could increase available supply and potentially create additional downward pressure on price.

BNB’s price jump above $725 is crucial This comes as BNB’s price was trading at $712.97 after a drop of a modest daily and weekly decline but a monthly hike of over 16%. AMBCrypto recently reported that BNB is now testing the $700 support level.

Therefore, holding above the support of level at $700 could stabilize the price, while a break below could push it toward $680–$690. However, for a recovery, BNB would first need to reclaim $725, followed by resistance around $750.

However, with BNB Chain gaining momentum in real-world asset (RWA) tokenization, with tokenized-asset holders rising 320% in 30 days and potentially reaching 800,000 users, hope remains.

At the same time, Bitcoin’s price was down at $76,983.20 at press time. But Bitcoin’s unrealized profit remaining elevated near $120K suggests there is underlying bullish support in the market.

Source: CryptoQuant Final Summary Binance’s deep liquidity is the main reason why it became the first choice for Bitcoin holders. Rise in scams explains why some holders temporarily moved their Bitcoin to established third-party platforms.

US August inflation approaches the threshold for interest rate hikes; China International Capital Corporation (CICC) says it may resume interest rate hikes in September.

US August inflation data heats up again. China International Capital Corporation (CICC) research report shows that US August CPI rose 0.4% month-on-month, core CPI rose 0.3% month-on-month, both indicators accelerated compared to the previous period; core CPI rose 2.4% year-on-year, slightly above market expectations. CICC believes that August inflation has reached the threshold for the Federal Reserve to resume rate hikes, and expects the Fed may raise interest rates by 25 basis points at its September 16 policy meeting, lifting the federal funds rate target range to 3.75% to 4%. In terms of structure, rising energy prices and resilient service prices remain key drivers of inflation, while some AI-related price pressures have also begun to emerge. CICC forecasts that the Fed may lower its unemployment rate forecast, raise its inflation forecast, and lift its 2027 and 2028 interest rate paths at this meeting, signaling a more hawkish policy stance. CICC also warns that a bigger risk is the Fed may raise rates further this year or next, meaning the market’s current pricing for a rate-cut cycle still has room for readjustment.

WSJ: U.S. stocks rebound as market prices in Fed rate hike expectations, 10-year U.S. Treasury yield nears 5%.

After US August CPI data came in slightly above expectations, markets largely confirmed the Federal Reserve would raise interest rates next week — a development that instead sparked a Friday rebound in US stocks. Investors view the clear rate hike path as helping reduce policy uncertainty and avoiding more aggressive rate hike expectations down the line. The S&P 500 rose 0.9% on Friday, the Dow Jones gained around 1%, and the Nasdaq climbed 1%, though all three major indexes ended the week lower overall. Meanwhile, the 10-year US Treasury yield closed at 4.974%, near the 5% threshold, a notable jump from 4.783% a week earlier. Markets now expect the Fed to raise rates by 25 basis points at next week’s meeting. RBC Capital Markets has even shifted its forecast for rate cuts this year to three rate hikes, noting that high interest rates could further weigh on corporate earnings and stock valuations. The energy market also remained under pressure: Brent crude closed at $104.61 per barrel on Friday, up more than 8% for the week. Houthi attacks on Saudi energy facilities, shipping risks in the Strait of Hormuz, and Saudi Arabia’s shutdown of east-west oil pipelines have all amplified supply concerns. While market sentiment improved somewhat on Friday, the simultaneous presence of high oil prices and elevated interest rates means US stocks could remain highly volatile going forward. Wall Street’s core question has now shifted from “whether the Fed will raise rates” to “how long high interest rates will persist, and whether they can curb inflation without harming the economy and corporate earnings.”

Astra's failure cause identified: outdated Skill is the bottleneck, OpenAI to roll out another reset after completing fixes.

Beating AI Express: OpenAI has fixed a series of quality issues following the launch of Astra. The most notable problem stemmed from legacy Skills: some Skills written for previous models were triggering incorrectly on Astra, even preventing the model from auditing its own work. Another issue related to context management experiments, which caused Astra to terminate responses early or revert to replying to earlier messages. OpenAI has shut down these experiments, affecting an estimated 4,000 to 5,000 users. The team also decommissioned a batch of misconfigured inference engines that degraded model quality. Post-fixes, Astra is expected to be more stable in following the latest instructions and performing self-checks. OpenAI also announced an additional user reset.

Bitcoin Suisse plans to shift up to half of its Swiss jobs abroad as the crypto financial services firm expands its international operations.

Founded in Zug in 2013, the company provides crypto trading, custody, staking and lending services. The restructuring could affect up to 60 of the company’s 120 Swiss positions, primarily in back-office and administrative roles, according to a Friday report from Swiss financial publication Finews.

The affected functions are expected to move to lower-cost hubs in Bratislava and Vietnam, where Bitcoin Suisse plans to establish a new location in the coming years.

CEO Andrej Majcen said cost was a key factor in the move, telling Finews that operating the affected services in the two countries would be significantly less expensive. He added that the restructuring was not a response to weakness in the crypto market, but part of Bitcoin Suisse’s strategy to expand internationally and build a broader wealth and asset management business.

In June, the company said it was expanding beyond its Swiss market, targeting institutional clients, family offices, asset managers and high-net-worth individuals as part of its evolution toward a global wealth management platform.

Bitcoin Suisse also secured licenses in Liechtenstein and Bermuda earlier this year, while its Middle East subsidiary received full regulatory approval in Abu Dhabi in July.

Strategy cuts net debt to $174 million, boosts dollar liquidity to $6.54 billion
BTC Bitcoin
CoinGecko News
Original source text
Strategy, known as the largest corporate holder of Bitcoin, has significantly strengthened its financial position in a move to improve its S&P rating and move beyond the current B- grade.

Liquidity Boost and Credit Rating OutlookThe company has focused on increasing its US dollar reserves, reducing its debt burden, and ensuring continued access to capital markets. S&P Global Ratings recently outlined these three areas as critical for any potential credit rating upgrade for Strategy, which remains six grades below investment status at BBB-.

Chaitanya Jain, Strategy’s head of investor relations, reported noticeable advancements across these fronts. As of September 7, Strategy’s dollar liquidity surged to $6.54 billion, up sharply from $54 million on September 30 of the previous year.

The recent regulatory filing shows this liquidity consists of $5.10 billion in reserves and $1.44 billion in cash. This sizable buffer enables the company to cover interest and preferred stock costs for approximately four years without the need to sell any of its Bitcoin holdings.

Strategy’s net dollar debt has dropped from roughly $8.16 billion after the third quarter of 2025 to about $174 million in September, following the repurchase of $1.5 billion of convertible senior notes due 2029, acquired at an 8% discount.

However, the company still carries additional obligations related to perpetual preferred stock and associated dividends, which remain on its balance sheet.

Debt Management and Capital GenerationBetween January and August 2026, Strategy generated $21 billion in revenue from common and preferred equity, securing new capital every month. The reduction in convertible debt, paired with rising dollar reserves, has provided increased financial flexibility amid volatile market conditions.

S&P Global Ratings continues to express caution regarding Strategy’s reliance on Bitcoin assets to cover obligations denominated in US dollars—a structure that creates risk if the cryptocurrency’s value drops or if capital market access becomes strained.

The company’s substantial dollar reserves offer more time to navigate periods of Bitcoin price volatility or restricted funding options, potentially allowing Strategy to avoid selling digital assets under unfavorable conditions.

Market Dynamics Increase Importance of Real-Time MonitoringManagement of liquidity and prompt reaction to fast-changing market conditions are more important than ever for companies like Strategy, especially when a sudden Federal Reserve decision or a rapid listing of a new altcoin can dramatically shift the market. In this context, many investors are turning to privacy-first solutions such as CryptoAppsy, which integrate real-time charts, smart price alerts, coin-focused news, and macroeconomic data into a single interface. These comprehensive tools help traders avoid losses caused by jumping between multiple platforms, streamlining portfolio monitoring without requiring account signup.

Strategy’s business model is highly dependent on access to capital markets, as it routinely raises funds to boost its Bitcoin holdings. If financing costs increase or market access is constrained, the company’s dollar reserves serve as an important hedge.

Despite the improvements in liquidity and debt reduction, S&P’s decisions regarding a possible rating upgrade will depend on Strategy’s ability to maintain sufficient reserves and manage its obligations through fluctuating market conditions.

The next potential step for Strategy’s credit outlook will rely on the persistence of its liquidity buffer and its effectiveness in balancing Bitcoin exposure against ongoing financial commitments.

Bitcoin Sentiment Shifts From 'Sell the Rally' to 'Buy the Dip'—Is It Justified?
BTC Bitcoin
CoinGecko News
Original source text
Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC) has shifted traders’ bias toward buying dips, yet experts warn of a pullback to $72,000.

Are Bitcoin Dips Now for Buying?Speaking on the Crypto Options Unplugged podcast on Sept. 10, Blockchain.com’s Global Head of OTC Trading Mark Sishka said Bitcoin’s rally toward $80,000 has shifted traders from "sell the rally" to "buy the dip."

The rally was driven by a major short squeeze, but the magnitude of the move has forced traders, waiting for sub-$60,000 prices, to reconsider.

And yet, Bitcoin looks "toppy" near current levels, while rebuilt long leverage could trigger a short-term flush toward $70,000 to $72,000.

Trending

A pullback to that zone could establish a higher low before another attempt at $82,000 to $85,000.

"Any short-term flush outs are going to get bought on the dip," Sishka said.

Options Market Shows Sentiment TurningBitcoin options are also beginning to reflect the shift.

Long-dated skew, which had favored puts for an extended period, has moved toward flat or slight call premium following Bitcoin’s rally.

That suggests longer-term traders are becoming less focused on downside protection and more willing to position for further upside.

Demand has also emerged for short-dated Bitcoin calls around $82,000-$85,000, while Ethereum (CRYPTO: ETH) traders have bought upside exposure around $2,800 to $3,500.

Sishka said institutional demand remains strong, particularly when Bitcoin trades near lower levels.

Is the Bear Market Ending?Sishka said he still watches Bitcoin’s historical four-year cycle as a guide and acknowledged that another cycle low below $60,000 remains possible if history repeats closely.

But he sees the current market differently after Bitcoin’s latest rally.

Investors who expected another deep decline are increasingly worried they may miss the next leg higher, creating demand on pullbacks rather than rallies.

That shift could become more important than whether Bitcoin revisits $70,000 in the short term.

Bitcoin's Weirdest Trader Yet? Fly Brain Just Makes Profit
BTC Bitcoin
CoinGecko News
Original source text
Bitcoin has no shortage of unusual traders, but a simulated fruit-fly brain might actually be the strangest one to date.

Coinbase's software engineer Alex Wormuth gave a digital simulation based on a fruit fly’s neural wiring $100 to trade Bitcoin.

The system's trading decisions are based on neural activity. One day after launching the experiment, Wormuth reported a rather surprising early result: the fly was up $1.

HOT Stories

The experiment, which has been dubbed "Stonkfly," connects an extremely complex simulation of an adult male fruit fly’s nervous system to Bitcoin price data and Coinbase. It is based on the recently released MaleCNS v1.0 connectome.

The important caveat is that there is no literal living fly sitting in front of a trading terminal (if this is not abundantly clear).

How trading works Stonkfly takes public BTC-USDC market data from Coinbase and converts it into an RGB visual representation. That image is then fed into thousands of simulated sensory inputs that correspond to neurons in the visual system of the insect.

You Might Also Like

If the portfolio makes money, Stonkfly stimulates 15 identified PAM11 dopamine neurons. If it loses money, two PPL101 neurons associated with aversive signaling get activated.

Of course, profitable learning has not been demonstrated. A $1 gain could be simply market movement combined with arbitrary trading decisions.

Fly-brain experiments There has been a flurry of fly-brain experiments after a major neuroscience milestone was announced earlier this month.

With the help of AI, scientists from Google Research and several other institutions produced a complete connectome of the brain and central nervous system of an adult male fruit fly. The map contains 166,700 neurons and captures the wiring extending through the brain, optic lobes, and ventral nerve cord.

The fly can be made to do a surprising number of things. Wormuth previously created DOOMFLY, which connects the same MaleCNS model to the classic video game Doom.

Other developers have already connected fly-connectome simulations to Beat Saber, Super Mario 64, Minecraft, Pong, and so on.

I wireheaded the fly and forced it to doomscroll flytok.

Dopamine neurons are measured and artificially enhanced to ensure maximum enjoyment.

My goal is to create a fly that is happier than all other flies combined. pic.twitter.com/xs4iKhCMzD

— Matty Hempstead (@mattyhempstead) September 10, 2026 Of course, the researchers did not recreate an entire living brain. Neurotransmitters, chemical modulation, gene expression, and other extremely sophisticated processes cannot be fully reproduced with the aforementioned simulation.

SlowMist details Liquid Network exploit, attacker mints 3,998 L-BTC in largest Bitcoin sidechain hack of 2026
BTC Bitcoin
CoinGecko News
Original source text
A single software bug in Blockstream’s Elements codebase allowed an attacker to conjure nearly 4,000 unbacked L-BTC out of thin air, peg them out for real Bitcoin, and drain roughly 95% of the Liquid Federation’s reserves in a matter of hours. SlowMist published its full analysis of the September 6 exploit on September 11, confirming what is now the largest publicly disclosed security incident involving a Bitcoin sidechain this year.

The damage: approximately 3,998.5 L-BTC minted and redeemed, worth roughly $320 million. The Liquid Federation’s reserve wallet went from holding over 4,200 BTC to about 197 BTC.

How a caching shortcut became a $320 million problem The root cause, according to SlowMist’s analysis, was a cache key collision vulnerability buried in the range-proof verification process. Range proofs are cryptographic checks that confirm transaction amounts fall within valid bounds without revealing exact values. They’re fundamental to Liquid’s confidential transaction model.

To speed up verification, Elements cached previously validated proofs so it wouldn’t have to recheck them. The problem was how those cache keys were constructed. Prior to version v23.3.4, the software generated cache keys without length prefixes. Two different inputs could produce identical cache keys, meaning the system would treat an invalid proof as already verified if its key happened to collide with a legitimate one.

The attacker exploited this collision to bypass verification, minting L-BTC that had no corresponding Bitcoin backing in the federation’s peg wallet. Those freshly minted tokens were then rapidly pegged out, converting them into real BTC on the Bitcoin mainnet before anyone could intervene.

The aftermath: partial recovery and an on-chain negotiation Blockstream moved quickly after discovering the exploit. Peg operations were suspended, halting any further outflows. The network’s block production itself was paused and didn’t resume until September 10, after the team deployed Elements v23.3.4 with patched cache key management that includes proper length prefixes.

Blockstream confirmed that the incident was caused by a software bug, not a compromise of the federation’s signing keys.

The attacker communicated via Bitcoin OP_RETURN messages, a method of embedding short text strings directly into Bitcoin transactions. The messages identified the attacker as a white-hat researcher and included a demand for a 10% bounty.

Roughly 3,400 BTC were returned to the federation peg wallet following the patch. The attacker retained approximately 598.5 BTC, presumably their self-assessed finder’s fee. The math works out to about 15% of the total haul, not the 10% originally requested.

What this means for federated sidechains The vulnerability wasn’t in the federation’s governance or key management. It was in a performance optimization. Caching verified proofs is a perfectly reasonable thing to do. The implementation just happened to contain a flaw that turned a speed improvement into a $320 million attack vector.

The network was offline for four days. Ninety-five percent of its reserves vanished before anyone noticed. And the recovery depended, in part, on the attacker’s willingness to return funds.

SlowMist’s analysis specifically flags the absence of length prefixes in cache key construction as the enabling factor, a detail that other projects using similar patterns should audit immediately.

What Will Happen to the Price of Bitcoin If the Fed Raises Interest Rates Next Week?
BTC Bitcoin
CoinGecko News
Original source text
Crypto analyst Sherlock suggested that the probability of the Fed raising interest rates next week has risen to approximately 90%, which could create significant selling pressure on Bitcoin (BTC).

According to data shared by Sherlock, the probability of the Fed raising interest rates increased from 58.4% to 86.4% in just seven days. Following this development, the analyst examined how Bitcoin performed after the 20 Fed interest rate hikes that have occurred since 2015.

Bitcoin Price Initially Rises, Then Falls After Interest Rate Hikes According to the analysis, Bitcoin has generally not reacted sharply on the days when interest rate decisions are announced. In fact, on 11 out of 20 interest rate hikes, BTC ended the day higher. However, this initial reaction has often been misleading. On 10 of those 11 days of gains, Bitcoin was trading below the level it was at a month later on the day the interest rate decision was announced.

According to Sherlock’s data, in 17 out of the 20 interest rate hikes examined, Bitcoin was at lower levels 30 days later. Furthermore, in 19 out of those 20 examples, BTC fell below its price on the day the interest rate decision was announced, at some point during the month-long period following the decision.

During this period, Bitcoin’s median decline was calculated at 9.3%. The analyst noted that if BTC is around the $78,000 level, a pullback of similar magnitude could take the price to approximately $70,700.

In previous periods when the Fed began a new monetary tightening cycle, the losses were even greater. Following the first interest rate hike in December 2015, Bitcoin lost 19% of its value in 30 days. Although BTC initially showed resilience in the interest rate hike cycle that began in March 2022, it experienced a drop of up to 46.3% within 90 days.

Sherlock also pointed out that the market is not pricing in just a single interest rate hike. According to futures market pricing, there is a 72.6% probability that interest rates will be at least 50 basis points above current levels in December.

According to the analyst, Bitcoin may therefore trade sideways or experience a short-lived rise on the day the FED decision is announced. However, if price behavior from past interest rate hike periods is repeated, there is a risk of a more significant pullback in the 30-day period following the decision.

Bitcoin Golden Cross Flickers Off as Rate-Hike Bets Firm Up
BTC Bitcoin
CoinGecko News
Original source text
In brief Bitcoin's daily 50-day EMA dipped back below its 200-day EMA Friday evening as BTC retreated to $77,438, undoing the golden cross that had briefly confirmed earlier in the session. The 4-hour chart's golden cross is still intact, but momentum has cooled. The reversal tracks a hawkish repricing in rates markets: The odds of a hike at next week's Fed meeting have spiked to 86% per CME. Bitcoin's brief flirtation with a confirmed daily golden cross is active but didn't survive the afternoon.

BTC is trading around $77,438 right now, still up 1.19% on the day but well off its earlier high near $79,837. The pullback tracks a rates market that turned more hawkish, not less, after inflation numbers landed today.

Today's CPI numbers showed the monthly core reading at 0.3%, hotter than the 0.2% analysts expected. CME FedWatch, which tracks probabilities implied by 30-day Fed funds futures, had the odds of a 25-basis-point interest rate hike at roughly 69% just after the inflation data landed. Those odds have since spiked to 86.5% in just the last few hours.

A rate hike would generally precede a risk off move from investors, meaning risk assets like Bitcoin and tech stocks would take a hit if the Fed decides to raise rates next week at its next meeting.

Myriad: Bitcoin's next move? Click to make your prediction.Today's daily Bitcoin candle opened at $76,529, spiked to an intraday high of $79,837, then rolled over to a low of $76,040 before settling near $77,438—still a 1.19% gain on the day, but a long way down from the highs.

That round trip was enough to flip the daily exponential-moving-average reading back to bearish: Bitcoin's 50-day EMA, which tracks the average price of BTC over the last 50 days, had briefly crossed above its 200-day EMA earlier Friday. That’s a formation traders refer to as a golden cross, which is as bullish as chart patterns get—and one Bitcoin had not seen since last November. But it didn’t last long.

Bitcoin’s 50-day average has slipped back under, meaning prices are still inches away from a golden cross. It may well still happen, but it looks like today won’t be the day.

Why a flickering golden cross isn't unusualA golden cross forms when a shorter-term moving average—the 50-day, tracking the last 50 daily closes—crosses above a longer-term one, the 200-day.

It's one of the most closely watched trend signals in any market because it has historically preceded some of Bitcoin's larger rallies. But it's also a lagging indicator built entirely from past prices, and when the two averages are trading close together, as Bitcoin's are right now, the signal can toggle on and off within a single session as intraday swings tug at the average.

That's exactly what happened today: a push to $79,837 nudged the 50-day EMA above the 200-day, and the retreat to $77,438 pulled it back below.

For daily chart watchers, today’s episode is a useful reminder about how thin some golden crosses really are. When the two moving averages sit close together, as they do here, a single volatile session can push the crossover back and forth before it settles. Today's daily candle is still open, so this reading could flip again by the close.

Trend strength, though, remains firm regardless of which side of the cross price lands on.

The Average Directional Index, or ADX, tracks trend strength regardless of direction. And today’s reading lands at 45, comfortably above the 25 threshold that separates a real trend from noise, with positive directional movement still outpacing negative.

The Relative Strength Index, or RSI, measures momentum on a scale from 0 to 100, with scores above 70 signaling overbought and below 30 oversold. Bitcoin is at 55.5 and still on the bullish side of neutral, which means bulls have reason to be optimistic.

The 4-hour chart: Still bullish, but tiredUnlike the daily, the 4-hour chart never lost its golden cross. The 50-period EMA remains above the 200-period EMA, keeping the broader bullish structure that first formed in late August intact. But almost everything else on the 4-hour timeframe has cooled off.

RSI has dropped to 43.3, into bearish territory. The Squeeze Momentum indicator, compressed for days, just fired, with volatility expanding 3.95%—typically what happens right as a sharp move gets underway, in this case to the downside.

ADX on the 4-hour chart sits at 25.1, barely above the 25 threshold, a sign the intraday trend is far weaker than the one showing up on the daily.

The bigger picture still leans bullish. The 4-hour chart hasn't wavered since late August, and daily ADX at 45 confirms a real trend is in place even as the moving-average label flips back and forth on a single volatile session.

Strive raises capital to acquire 578 Bitcoin through its SATA preferred stock instrument
BTC Bitcoin
CoinGecko News
Original source text
Strive, Inc. (NASDAQ: ASST) has raised enough capital through its Variable Rate Series A Perpetual Preferred Stock, known as SATA, to purchase 578 Bitcoin after 16 consecutive trading sessions at par value.

While companies like MicroStrategy pioneered the convertible-debt playbook for buying Bitcoin, Strive has taken a notably different path: no debt, just preferred equity with a fat dividend.

How SATA actually works SATA is a perpetual preferred stock that pays a variable annualized dividend of roughly 13%, distributed daily on business days. The instrument launched via an oversubscribed IPO in November 2025 and has since been issued through an at-the-market (ATM) program designed to keep the share price hovering between $99 and $101, right around its $100 par value. That tight trading range is the whole point. When SATA trades at or above par, Strive can issue new shares without diluting at a discount, turning the ATM into a steady capital pipeline.

The notional outstanding for SATA has now reached approximately $999.5 million across 9,995,425 shares issued. Strive has maintained a debt-free balance sheet throughout this entire accumulation campaign, reportedly holding enough cash reserves to cover dividend payments for 18 months.

The bigger Bitcoin picture at Strive The 578 BTC raise is the latest in a series of large Bitcoin purchases Strive has executed throughout 2026. In its most recent disclosed transaction, the company purchased 1,375 BTC for approximately $109 million between August 31 and September 4, 2026. That single acquisition pushed total holdings from 23,156 to 24,531 BTC.

Roughly 70% of the capital behind that purchase, about $92.2 million, came directly from SATA-related funding through the issuance of 921,511 new shares. The remaining 30% was sourced from other operational capital, keeping the company’s leverage at exactly zero.

Strive has consistently executed purchases exceeding 400 BTC on a weekly basis during 2026.

Why this matters for the corporate Bitcoin playbook The traditional model for public companies acquiring Bitcoin involves convertible notes or senior secured debt, instruments that add leverage and introduce interest-rate risk. Strive’s approach flips that dynamic. SATA holders receive their 13% dividend regardless of Bitcoin’s price action, and because the instrument is perpetual, there’s no maturity wall forcing refinancing at inconvenient moments.

The 16 consecutive sessions at par value suggest the market views SATA as fairly priced at its current yield. If demand were softening, shares would drift below $100 and the ATM would effectively shut off, a self-correcting mechanism that prevents Strive from issuing into weak demand.

A 13% annualized dividend on a billion-dollar instrument means Strive needs to generate or hold roughly $130 million per year just for dividend obligations. With 18 months of dividend reserves on hand, Strive appears to have significant runway before that scenario becomes pressing.

Coinbase engineer’s fruit fly brain AI gains $1 trading Bitcoin
BTC Bitcoin
CoinGecko News
Original source text
A digital simulation modeled after a fruit fly’s brain has achieved a modest gain in Bitcoin trading, in an experiment conducted by Coinbase software engineer Alex Wormuth. Wormuth allocated $100 to the project, which acts as an unusual trader by leveraging the neural wiring of a fruit fly mapped by recent neuroscience research.

AI-powered fruit fly simulation enters crypto tradingThe experiment, named “Stonkfly,” utilizes a highly detailed digital model of an adult male fruit fly’s nervous system. This model is based on the MaleCNS v1.0 connectome, a comprehensive blueprint of the fly’s central nervous system released earlier this month by an international group of scientists, including Google Research.

While Stonkfly uses advanced neuroscience, there is no physical insect at a trading desk. Instead, the system operates by receiving live BTC-USDC market data from Coinbase. This real-time data is transformed into an RGB image, simulating how the insect would perceive visual information. The processed image is delivered to thousands of simulated sensory neurons, mirroring actual insect brain activity.

One day into the experiment, Stonkfly’s trades yielded a $1 profit. However, Wormuth noted that this minor gain is likely the result of chance rather than consistent learning, since the system’s trading decisions are closely linked to both market shifts and the randomness of its simulated neural responses.

Stonkfly uses the entire adult fruit fly connectome, mapping real-time Bitcoin price data to simulated sensory input. Trading outcomes trigger specific dopamine or aversive response neurons according to profit or loss, respectively.

Mini dictionary: Connectome, a comprehensive map of neural connections within an organism’s nervous system, often used in neuroscience to model and simulate brain activity computationally.

How Stonkfly’s simulated brain tradesStonkfly’s mechanism involves activating 15 simulated PAM11 dopamine neurons when the trading portfolio records a gain, mirroring reward signaling in living insects. In contrast, if a loss is registered, two PPL101 neurons, which are linked to aversive responses in the fly, are triggered.

Despite these intricate mechanisms, the current system has not demonstrated reliable learning or decision-making autonomy. The initial $1 profit may simply reflect natural price fluctuations and random trades rather than true adaptation or strategy.

Simulation ModelInput DataResult after 1 dayFruit fly brain (MaleCNS v1.0)Bitcoin price from Coinbase+$1 gainBackground and future applicationsThe publication of the complete adult male fruit fly connectome marked a major advance in neuroscience. The map includes 166,700 neurons and defines the intricate wiring running through the insect’s brain, optic lobes, and ventral nerve cord. Connectome projects like this enable highly detailed simulations for scientific and experimental purposes.

Wormuth, who works at leading US crypto exchange Coinbase, has previously engaged with the MaleCNS model, most notably by linking it to the classic video game Doom in a project called DOOMFLY. Other developers have made similar integrations, connecting the fruit fly simulation with games such as Beat Saber, Super Mario 64, Minecraft, and Pong.

Although the simulation models intricate wiring, significant elements of biological brains remain beyond current technology’s grasp. Features like chemical neurotransmitters, gene expression, and broader modulatory processes are absent from these digital connectome models, and cannot yet be recreated outside of real organisms.

Blockstream Tells Hackers To Return Remaining Bitcoin Stolen in Liquid Theft
BTC Bitcoin
CoinGecko News
Original source text
Bitcoin infrastructure firm Blockstream has refused to negotiate further with hackers who last week stole 4,000 bitcoins from its Liquid network.

Writing on X Friday, Blockstream said that the hackers still had time to return the funds before the company would work with law enforcement.

White-hat hackers on Sunday withdrew about $320 million from the federation wallet that backs Liquid, a sidechain by Blockstream. After negotiating with Blockstream, they returned most of the funds but kept 598.5 coins worth over $46 million — demanding it as ransom.

“Blockstream will not pay a ransom for the return of stolen funds,” the post read. “Taking assets without authorization and withholding their return is a crime, not responsible disclosure. It is not white-hat activity. It is theft.”

To those responsible for the theft of bitcoin from the Liquid Network:

Blockstream will not pay a ransom for the return of stolen funds. Taking assets without authorization and withholding their return is a crime, not responsible disclosure. It is not white-hat activity. It is…

— Blockstream (@Blockstream) September 11, 2026 It added: “We will work with law enforcement, exchanges, service providers, forensic specialists, and other relevant parties to trace and recover the assets and identify those responsible.”

“We will not pay for the return of stolen property. We will not abandon our users. The Bitcoin community will not stop pursuing the funds.”

Liquid, or L-BTC, is a layer-2 created by Blockstream that allows users to fast move assets backed 1:1 with bitcoin. One of the assets, LBTC, is a token backed by bitcoin that allows for quick settlement — a bit like the Lightning Network.

Hackers were able to get the funds by exploiting an inflation bug on the Liquid sidechain to create over 4,000 LBTC that did not exist before and cash them out for real, on-chain bitcoins.

The hackers then had an exchange with Blockstream via messages written into Bitcoin blocks.

In one message, the white hats wrote: “Please fix the bug first. The chain is under risk at latest commit right now. Make sure every node is patched. Then we will transfer the money back safely after confirming the fix.”

In the latest message, the hackers slammed Blocksteam as “delusional, greedy, and arrogant,” and threatened to reveal all of Blockstream’s encrypted messages in the exchange unless the company allowed thieves to keep 10% of the bitcoins.

“You SHALL pay 10% using your own money as bug bounty or you will cause all your holders a 15% loss for your irresponsibility and stinginess,” the message read.

The Bitcoin community is still reeling after hackers in July were able to steal over 1,800 bitcoins worth close to $140 million from Coldcard wallet holders.

Users of the popular hardware wallet, created by Coinkite, were targeted because the product’s manufacturer did not use a true random number generator, allowing hackers to essentially guess investor seedphrases.

Bitcoin’s ‘Unusual Mix’: Bearish Inflation Print, Bullish Buyback Failure
BTC Bitcoin
CoinGecko News
Original source text
Bitcoin’s path higher just got harder in the short term, but the setup further out may be improving, according to a new report.

In a Friday note, European asset manager CoinShares’ Head of Research, James Butterfill, said firmer-than-expected core inflation raises the odds of tighter Fed policy and could cap bitcoin below $80,000 for now.

But the longer-term case, he argued, rests on the U.S. Treasury’s bond buyback programme failing to bring down long-end yields — a failure that could ultimately feed the debasement narrative that has supported both bitcoin and gold.

“The result is therefore a somewhat unusual policy mix for Bitcoin,” the report read. “Today’s CPI data is negative at the margin, increasing the probability of tighter monetary policy and potentially limiting the immediate upside.

“But the apparent failure of the Treasury’s current buying programme increases the likelihood of much more substantial intervention further ahead.”

It continued: “If that happens, it could become one of the more powerful medium-term catalysts for Bitcoin.”

Data on Friday revealed that the consumer price index, excluding food and energy, climbed 0.3% in August from a month earlier — higher than expected.

According to CME’s FedWatch tool, traders think there is a 85% chance interest rates will be higher after the Federal Reserve meets next week. Bitcoin has typically performed well in a low interest rate environment.

But the U.S. Treasury’s expanded bond buyback programme has so far failed to materially suppress long-term yields.

If yields stay stubbornly high, Butterfill said, pressure will build on Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to escalate to a much larger, “bazooka-style” buying programme aimed at forcing borrowing costs down.

Bitcoin in August had one of its best runs in years after Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced the department would double the size of its long-dated bond buybacks.

The announcement and subsequent price surge has led some to say the much talked-about debasement trade is back. The so-called debasement trade is when investors buy an asset as a way to hedge against a currency losing value.

Bitcoin and gold have both benefited as part of the trade as the dollar weakens.

Crypto hack: Blockstream rejects ransom as nearly 600 Bitcoin remains missing
BTC Bitcoin
CoinGecko News
Original source text
Blockstream has refused to pay for the return of Bitcoin after a theft from the Liquid Network because it believes that security researchers should not steal!

Most of the funds have already been returned, but nearly 600 BTC, which is worth about $47 million, remains with the people behind the attack.

How the Liquid Network hack unfolded The incident began when attackers found a flaw in software used by Liquid, a Bitcoin-based network designed to support faster transfers and other financial services.

Through the weakness, around 4,000 Liquid Bitcoins were generated, which were then exchanged for the real Bitcoin on the network. They [the attackers] described what they did as “white-hat” activity, and about 3,400 BTC was returned afterwards.

But Blockstream said that the negotiation it had before with the people behind it was just to get users’ funds back, and that it should not be interpreted as accepting their actions or demands.

Blockstream draws a line over the remaining bitcoin In a public statement, Blockstream declared that it would not be paying a ransom to recover the remaining funds.

Taking assets without authorization and withholding their return is a crime, not responsible disclosure. It is not white-hat activity. It is theft.

Blockstream said they were not going to pay, stating that paying would create a bad precedent for those who develop open-source software. Instead, it promised to aid law enforcement, exchanges, and BTC blockchain investigators to find the BTC that had not yet been seized and trace those responsible for the attacks.

Blockstream ended the statement with a direct demand: “Return the bitcoin.”

Bitcoin community questions Blockstream’s position The refusal has divided some members of the Bitcoin community.

Whale Coin Talk wondered if the situation could have been worse still and pointed out that the funds were returned, so it was an actual white hat, as another group might never have given them back.

Seems like white-hat hackers are doing a better job than protocols at keeping users safe.

Others focused on Blockstream’s responsibility for the vulnerability. Kurt Wuckert Jr. summarized that criticism by writing:

Code is law when it benefits us, but law is law when our code gets people robbed.

All these do not answer the questions of whether the attackers are security researchers, and show why the case became more than a crypto hack. It also raises the issue of when unauthorized testing can be called extortion.

Final Summary Blockstream says it will not pay for the return of nearly 600 BTC still held by the attackers. The partial return of approximately 3,400 BTC has caused disagreement over whether the incident involved white-hat research or theft.

MTL: Bitcoin Retreats as Crypto Greed Cools
BTC Bitcoin
CoinGecko News
Original source text
Bitcoin was down 3.1% over seven days at $77,327 in Friday's Metal Pay snapshot, while ether gained 2.9% to $2,532. The September 11 inflation report showed U.S. core prices rising 0.3% in August, above the 0.2% forecast, keeping a possible Federal Reserve rate increase in focus. Alternative.me's Fear & Greed Index registered 56, still in 'Greed' territory. That was down from 69 a day earlier and 74 a week earlier, an 18-point weekly decline. Together, the figures show cooling enthusiasm and uneven performance rather than a market-wide rebound.

Senate Revises Clarity Act as Disputes Persist

Senate Republicans released a revised Clarity Act on September 10, updating proposed crypto rules without resolving the bill's main political disputes. The draft would require certain centrally controlled trading protocols to register with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and clarifies how credit unions can conduct digital-asset activities. Banks continued pressing for tighter restrictions on stablecoin rewards, warning of competition with customer deposits. Disagreements over money-laundering safeguards and officials' crypto-related conflicts of interest also remained. The draft was not law as of September 11, and advancing it still required a 60-vote coalition in the Senate.

Liquid Resumes Transactions After $320 Million Exploit

Liquid Network resumed transactions on September 10 after an exploit drained roughly 4,000 bitcoin, worth about $320 million when reported, from its reserves on September 6. Around 3,400 BTC was returned on September 7, but approximately 598.5 BTC remained outstanding as of Friday. Blockstream said on September 11 that it would not pay a ransom for the remaining funds. Withdrawals from Liquid back to Bitcoin remained disabled while recovery continued. Liquid said the flaw was in its underlying software and that network operators had not been hacked or had their keys compromised.

The previous Friday brought $174.6 million in net inflows, led by BlackRock's IBIT ($117.4 million) and Fidelity's FBTC ($57.2 million). Tuesday reversed to $46.6 million in outflows, with Grayscale's GBTC losing $65.5 million despite smaller inflows elsewhere. Wednesday's outflows deepened to $120.2 million, including $78.0 million from ARK 21Shares' ARKB. Thursday was the weakest reported session at $282.7 million in outflows, led by ARKB ($164.3 million) and GBTC ($36.4 million). Overall, Bitcoin ETFs recorded $449.5 million in net outflows across this week's reported sessions through Thursday, with redemptions increasing each day; Friday's total remains TBD.

The previous Friday recorded $25.9 million in net inflows, as BlackRock's ETHA ($57.8 million) and ETHB ($16.4 million) outweighed $48.3 million leaving Fidelity's FETH. Tuesday reversed to $24.3 million in outflows, led by Grayscale's ETH ($24.6 million) and ETHE ($9.6 million), partly offset by FETH's $9.9 million inflow. Wednesday rebounded with $34.7 million in inflows, led by ETHB ($22.9 million) and ETHA ($9.7 million). Thursday was the weakest reported session at $29.9 million in outflows, as withdrawals from FETH ($25.2 million) and ETHA ($18.6 million) outweighed inflows elsewhere. Overall, Ethereum ETFs recorded $19.5 million in net outflows through Thursday, with Wednesday's recovery insufficient to offset the other sessions; Friday's total remains TBD.

Metal DAO (MTL) led the tracked tokens with a 6.5% weekly gain, followed by Litecoin at 5.6%. Ethereum (+2.9%), Metal Blockchain (+2.1%) and Solana (+0.6%) also finished the seven-day snapshot higher, while Dogecoin (-0.6%) and Stellar (-0.7%) held up best among the decliners. Bitcoin fell 3.1%, XPR Network lost 4.4% and Loan Protocol dropped 11.7%, leaving five of the 13 tracked tokens in positive territory.

Intense Whale Activity in Bitcoin and Altcoins Following Inflation Data — Here Are the Details
BTC Bitcoin
CoinGecko News
Original source text
Significant large-scale transfers have occurred in the cryptocurrency market in recent hours. A Fireblocks-linked custody wallet sent $19.4 million worth of Trump-backed USD1 stablecoin to Binance in the last hour. It is reported that the total amount of USD1 transferred to Binance by the same wallet in the last 13 days has reached approximately $149.8 million.

On the other hand, a large crypto investor who had been inactive for about four months has become active again. The whale, who hadn’t made any transactions for 119 days, withdrew 116,490 HYPE tokens worth approximately $9.6 million from OKX. This transaction by the long-dormant wallet has drawn attention regarding possible new positioning in HYPE.

On the Chainlink front, both institutional and project-based LINK accumulation continues. Grayscale’s GLNK ETF acquired an additional 203,810 LINK, worth approximately $2.38 million, via Coinbase Prime. The fund reportedly accumulated a total of 1.05 million LINK in the last 18 days, equivalent to approximately $12.12 million at current market value.

In parallel, Chainlink added another 91,100 LINK to its strategic reserve. With this latest purchase, worth approximately $1.06 million, the total reserve accumulation over the last 30 days has reached 511,000 LINK, which is worth approximately $5.52 million today. Chainlink’s total strategic reserve has thus risen to 5.86 million LINK, or approximately $67.24 million.

Blockstream refuses ransom demand, seeks recovery of $46 million in stolen Liquid funds
BTC Bitcoin
CoinGecko News
Original source text
Bitcoin infrastructure company Blockstream has ended negotiations with hackers who withdrew 4,000 bitcoins from its Liquid sidechain, declining to pay ransom for the return of the remaining funds.

Stolen funds and ransom disputeHackers exploited the Liquid network, a layer-2 solution developed by Blockstream designed to facilitate fast, confidential transfers of assets backed 1:1 by bitcoin. The exploit allowed the attackers to create more than 4,000 LBTC and redeem them for actual bitcoins, resulting in the unauthorized withdrawal of roughly $320 million.

After initial communication with Blockstream, the attackers returned most of the stolen coins. However, they kept 598.5 bitcoins, valued at over $46 million, and demanded 10% of the total amount as a bug bounty in exchange for full restitution.

Blockstream stated publicly on X that it will not pay a ransom, stressing that, “Taking assets without authorization and withholding their return is a crime, not responsible disclosure. It is not white-hat activity. It is theft.”

Blockstream declared that paying a ransom for the return of the bitcoins is out of the question: “We will not pay for the return of stolen property. We will not abandon our users. The Bitcoin community will not stop pursuing the funds.”

Ongoing threat and hacker demandsThe hackers communicated with Blockstream using messages embedded in Bitcoin blocks. In their messages, they urged Blockstream to address the exploit immediately, promising to return the funds once the bug was fixed. Their most recent message accused Blockstream of being “delusional, greedy, and arrogant,” threatening to expose all of Blockstream’s encrypted communications unless allowed to keep 10% of the stolen bitcoins.

One of the messages read, “You SHALL pay 10% using your own money as bug bounty or you will cause all your holders a 15% loss for your irresponsibility and stinginess.”

Blockstream’s response and community impactBlockstream affirmed its commitment to collaborating with law enforcement agencies, exchanges, forensic specialists, and other stakeholders to track, recover, and identify those responsible for the incident.

Liquid, launched by Blockstream, is a notable second-layer solution designed to enhance the capabilities of the Bitcoin network by enabling rapid, low-cost, and confidential settlement of digital assets, including LBTC. LBTC tokens are pegged to bitcoin, offering users a way to transact on the Liquid network with trustless conversion back to bitcoin.

Mini dictionary: Blockstream is a leading bitcoin infrastructure technology company known for its development of the Liquid sidechain and contributions to Bitcoin’s layer-2 solutions.

The theft followed a recent trend of high-profile bitcoin security breaches. In July, hackers also targeted Coldcard wallet holders, siphoning more than 1,800 bitcoins valued near $140 million. Coinkite, the company behind Coldcard, reportedly left wallets vulnerable due to reliance on an insecure random number generator, which enabled attackers to guess users’ seed phrases.

XRP ETF Demand Holds Firm Despite a 2.8% Token Drop
BTC Bitcoin XRP Ripple
CoinGecko News
Original source text
U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs reportedly shed $282.6 million on September 10, their third straight session of net outflows. Over the same three-day window, XRP ETFs pulled in fresh capital for a third consecutive day, even as XRP itself slipped roughly 2.8% to trade near $1.36.

The split is the story here. Bitcoin ETF investors are heading for the exits while XRP fund buyers keep adding exposure to a falling token price, and the tension worth unpacking: does XRP’s steadier inflow pattern reflect a genuinely different holder base, or is it just a quieter version of the same volatility rattling Bitcoin ETF flows this month?

(Source – TradingView)

Why Don’t ETF Flows and Token Price Always Move Together? Crypto ETF flows measure creations and redemptions inside the fund wrapper itself – money entering or leaving the product, not a direct swap between assets. A fund can absorb net inflows on a day its underlying token drops, because buyers are adding shares faster than sellers are cashing out, regardless of where the price is heading.

Inflows continued even as XRP fell roughly 2.8% on September 10. It is a reminder that fund demand and spot price action are related but separate signals, and treating one as a stand-in for the other is a common – and costly – mistake for traders watching XRP ETF inflows for directional cues.

What Do the Reported ETF Numbers Actually Show?

(Source – SoSoValue)

Across the three-session stretch through September 10, Bitcoin funds handed back a combined $449.4 million. Total net assets in Bitcoin ETFs fell to $97.49 billion, down from $101.3 billion on September 4, though cumulative net inflows since launch still stand at $55.17 billion.

The pattern looks erratic rather than uniformly bearish. The same Bitcoin funds absorbed $730.9 million on September 3, the strongest single-day haul since January 14, 2026, before reversing hard into the September 10 outflow.

XRP’s record over a longer 20-session window tells a different story. The funds recorded just one outflow day in that span – a $7.2 million exit on September 2 – while collecting $190.5 million overall.

Bitcoin logged seven negative days across that same period, Ethereum posted three, and Solana logged four, making XRP the clear outlier in consistency among the larger crypto ETF flows tracked by SoSoValue.

Cumulative XRP ETF inflows have reached $1.70 billion since launch, with combined net assets of $1.45 billion.

The pressure on September 10 wasn’t confined to Bitcoin. Ethereum products shed $29.8 million and Solana funds lost $482,547, according to the same report. Smaller products moved the other way: Chainlink ETFs added $4.3 million, and Polkadot funds took in $663,057 – its first daily inflow since June 8.

XRP rebounds after sharp drop, eyes $2.27 as inflation cools to 3.4%
BTC Bitcoin
CoinGecko News
Original source text
The XRP price experienced renewed selling pressure alongside the broader cryptocurrency market, reaching a recent low of $1.32. This decline coincided with shifts in overall sentiment as investors reacted to updated inflation figures and Bitcoin’s market behavior.

Inflation Data Sparks Market OptimismHeadline US inflation registered at 3.4%, while the Core Consumer Price Index (CPI) dropped to 2.4%, marking its lowest level in over five years. This print offered some relief to investors after a stronger-than-expected producer price index (PPI) reading the previous day.

Although the CPI data did not meet every expectation, market participants viewed it as a sign that inflation pressures could be easing. Many traders and analysts have begun focusing their attention on how these inflation figures might impact future Federal Reserve policy decisions and the direction of digital assets.

Headline inflation registered at 3.4%, while Core CPI eased to 2.4%, providing a favorable environment for market recovery following an earlier spike in producer prices.

Bitcoin’s resurgence has helped lift sentiment among major altcoins, including XRP. The token recovered somewhat from its earlier decline, finding new buying interest as the wider market regained strength.

EGRAG Crypto Highlights Key Technical LevelEGRAG Crypto, a well-followed market analyst, identified the 100 EMA (Exponential Moving Average) on XRP’s three-day chart as the critical technical indicator that could signal a reversal or continuation of recent losses. The 100 EMA has previously acted as a key support and resistance point for XRP, according to EGRAG’s analysis.

Historically, reclaiming the 100 EMA has led to sustained upward moves for the token. However, EGRAG stressed the need for confirmation, which would involve a three-day close above the 100 EMA, followed by further sessions holding above that level. If achieved, this could confirm the end of the recent downtrend.

At present, EGRAG views $0.95 to $1.00 as an important downside support area, while $1.38 to $1.40 is seen as the immediate reaction zone. To re-establish bullish momentum, XRP would need to break above the 100 EMA and maintain that level, with targets at $2.27 and $3.85 in the event of a decisive rally.

Ripple Expands GSmart AI in Treasury ManagementIn parallel with the market’s recovery, Ripple is advancing GSmart AI capabilities within its Ripple Treasury platform. Ripple, a US-based fintech firm known for developing payment solutions and the digital asset XRP, aims to enhance efficiency, forecasting, and risk management for clients leveraging its products.

The improved GSmart AI service now covers a range of policy-regulated applications, such as liquidity, risk management, reconciliation, and reporting. The AI monitors treasury operations, flags potential issues, and references policy frameworks before executing solutions. Ripple has also separated financial calculations from AI interpretations to keep financial controls within treasury teams while preserving audit trail integrity.

Utilization rates reflect this upgrade: Ripple reports that 60% of eligible customers have adopted Risk Insights, while 44% use Forecast Insights, both powered by GSmart AI.

This expansion in GSmart AI tools underlines Ripple’s efforts to modernize enterprise treasury infrastructure, although it may not directly impact short-term XRP price action.

Mini dictionary: GSmart AI, a suite of artificial intelligence tools integrated into Ripple Treasury, helps automate risk management, liquidity planning, and compliance monitoring for corporate treasury operations.

Short-Term Outlook for XRPXRP’s near-term trajectory will depend on developments in the wider crypto market and its ability to reclaim and hold above the $1.38–$1.40 reaction zone. Sustained movement above the 100 EMA would further strengthen the bullish case, potentially targeting $2.27 next.

If XRP falls below these critical technical levels, however, the $0.95–$1.00 support range could be tested again. The asset’s price direction remains closely tied to Bitcoin’s momentum and expectations surrounding Federal Reserve policy.

If XRP closes above the 100 EMA and holds, this could mark the end of its recent downtrend. A decisive break could shift bullish targets toward $2.27 and beyond.

XRP holds $1.33 support, analysts target $1.88 on bull flag breakout
BTC Bitcoin
CoinGecko News
Original source text
XRP traded between $1.329 and $1.365 on September 11, closing the session near $1.36 and maintaining position above a key support level. The cryptocurrency defended $1.33, seeing this threshold as a critical “green zone” highlighted by market observers on the daily chart.

Technical outlook suggests potential move to $1.88Traders focused on XRP’s chart structure noted that the token completed a Wave 1 advance and remains within a bull flag pattern, which typically denotes continued consolidation before a potential upward reversal. Despite recent market pressure, XRP has not broken below its established support.

Prominent analyst Dark Defender described the token’s recent price action as sinusoidal, or oscillating within the green zone, which is seen as characteristic of ongoing consolidation phases. The continuation of the bull flag pattern is contingent on XRP maintaining this level. Should the price stay above $1.33, targets remain set for a move toward $1.88, in line with standard chart projections.

XRP formed an initial advance (Wave 1) and has since been consolidating within a defined green support zone. This ongoing bull flag structure signals the possibility for a strong reversal to the upside as long as the daily chart’s green zone remains unbroken.

Market participants are closely monitoring daily closes. Any drop below the $1.33 mark would undermine the current setup and could prompt further declines. However, ongoing resilience above this threshold is viewed as a sign that bullish projections remain valid in the near term.

Key levelStatusImplication$1.33Support heldBull flag pattern intact$1.88Projected targetPossible if support holdsXRP utility drives institutional interestBeyond technical analysis, XRP is seeing increased attention for its use in payments and digital applications. Crypto analyst SMQKE emphasized a growing narrative differentiating XRP as a utility token, as opposed to what was described as the more speculative nature of Bitcoin. This viewpoint reflects a wider sentiment among some crypto commentators that market behavior is shifting.

SMQKE pointed out that as institutional capital enters the crypto space, traditional cycles based on Bitcoin halvings and retail-driven activity are losing influence. The argument suggests that institutional investors typically move differently from individual traders, with a larger focus on utility.

Notably, WisdomTree—a leading asset manager known for its digital asset investment products—reported that XRP delivered a 45% gain so far this year, outperforming Bitcoin across one-month, three-month, and one-year time frames. The provider also cited XRP as having the lowest correlation to Bitcoin among major cryptocurrencies.

This data has become a reference point for those who argue that XRP stands out as a practical solution for cross-border transactions and real-world use cases, which are increasingly appealing to larger market participants investing in digital assets.

WisdomTree highlighted that XRP not only posted stronger returns than Bitcoin over multiple recent time frames but also demonstrated reduced correlation to broader crypto market trends, reinforcing arguments for its adoption as a utility-focused asset in institutional portfolios.

Supporters in the XRP community view these statistics as an indication that demand for utility, rather than speculation, could shape the future direction of the token. Attention has therefore shifted to developments that might reinforce XRP’s role as a digital payments facilitator, as well as to its performance relative to other top cryptocurrencies.

Crypto liquidations reach $747 million over 24 hours
BTC Bitcoin ETH Ethereum HYPE Hyperliquid
CoinGecko News
Original source text
Short Sellers Take the Bigger HitMore than 103,600 traders were liquidated across crypto derivatives markets in a single 24-hour window, according to CoinGlass data. Total liquidations reached $747 million, with short positions absorbing the larger share of the damage at $424.80 million, against $322.50 million wiped from long positions.

$ETH was the hardest-hit asset, accounting for $296.97 million in liquidations. $BTC followed at $203.95 million, with the remainder spread across smaller altcoins and token pairs. The scale of the move underlines how quickly leveraged positions can unwind when markets shift direction.

A liquidation happens when a trader borrows to make a bigger bet than their capital would cover, the market moves against them, and the exchange closes the position automatically before losses exceed the margin posted.

Hyperliquid Records the Largest Single LiquidationThe single largest forced closure of the session was a $20.28 million ETH-USD perpetual position on Hyperliquid, the decentralized exchange that has become the dominant venue for on-chain derivatives trading. Hyperliquid is a purpose-built Layer-1 blockchain that processed $633 billion in trading volume in Q1 2026 alone. According to Artemis, Hyperliquid captures over 70% of the entire decentralized perpetual futures market measured by open interest.

That dominance means large forced closures increasingly show up on its books rather than at centralized rivals. The concentration of the session's largest liquidation on Hyperliquid is a direct reflection of its growing weight in the market.

The latest data adds to a broader pattern of periodic liquidation cascades as crypto markets continue to attract leveraged participation. Liquidations play a crucial role in market volatility, often having a significant impact on traders' positions and price movements. When clusters of leveraged bets get caught on the wrong side of a move, the resulting forced closures can amplify price swings in either direction.

Bitcoin and Gold Flash Crash: Why a 2.4% CPI Print Still Ran Hot
BTC Bitcoin
CoinGecko News
Original source text
Bitcoin and gold prices dropped within seconds of the August inflation report on Friday, then recovered most of the loss inside a few minutes. The annual numbers landed exactly on forecast.

What moved markets was the monthly core figure. Prices excluding food and energy rose 0.3% in August, above the 0.2% economists had expected.

Why a 2.4% Print Still Counted as HotAnnual core inflation held at 2.4%, matching estimates. Headline inflation matched as well, at 3.4%. Neither number handed the Federal Reserve anything new.

AUGUST U.S. 🇺🇸 INFLATION DATA:

CPI 3.4% YoY, (Est. 3.4%)
CPI 0.4% MoM, (Est. 0.4%)

Core CPI 2.4% YoY, (Est. 2.4%)
Core CPI 0.3% MoM, (Est. 0.2%)

— Wall St Engine (@wallstengine) September 11, 2026 Follow us on X to get the latest news as it happens

The monthly reading told a different story. Seventeen published forecasts for monthly core inflation circulated before the release. They ranged from 0.16% to 0.24%, and every one of them rounded to 0.2%.

August core CPI estimates from those who have shared them: The median is 0.22%. Source: TimiraosThe actual figure came in at 0.29%, or roughly 3.5% at an annual pace. It beat the entire range.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) measures what urban households pay for a fixed basket of goods and services. Core CPI removes food and energy, which swing on weather and oil markets.

Shelter is the largest single component. It rose 0.3% for the month and 3% over the year, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported. Shelter had been softening before the release.

Energy drove the headline figure. The energy index climbed 2.1% in August and gasoline rose 3.9%. Over 12 months, gasoline is up 27.4%.

Gold Stopped Acting Like an Inflation HedgeGold spot spiked toward $4,353 as the data hit, then collapsed to $4,292 inside the same minute. It settled near $4,358 as of this writing. Bitcoin (BTC) traced the same shape. It slid from roughly $77,100 to $76,050 before recovering.

Bitcoin and Gold Price Performance. Source: TradingViewBeInCrypto flagged this pattern a day earlier, after Thursday’s producer price report pulled gold, Bitcoin, and the S&P 500 down together. That read on gold’s failure as hedge held up within 24 hours.

The mechanism sits in the bond market. Hotter inflation lifts Treasury yields, and higher yields raise the cost of holding assets that pay no income.

Gold and Bitcoin both pay nothing. The 10-year Treasury yield was already near 4.95% before the release.

This was also the second US data release in a week to knock both assets at once. August payrolls tripled forecasts on September 4 and produced the same reaction.

The Fed Decides on WednesdayThe Federal Open Market Committee meets on September 15 and 16. The rate decision lands Wednesday afternoon. Data on the CME FedWatch Tool shows interest bettors now price a near certain rate hike.

September Rate Cut or Hike Odds. Source: CME FedWatch ToolEconomists have leaned toward a hold. Traders have leaned toward a hike. The monthly core figure strengthens the traders’ case.

Thursday’s producer price data was firm in the categories that feed Personal Consumption Expenditures. That index, not CPI, is the gauge the Fed formally targets. August core PCE could therefore run hotter than these numbers imply.

Rate markets already price tighter policy from three central banks hiking this month. The Bank of Japan and the European Central Bank also decide in the coming days.

The speed of the rebound points to stretched positioning rather than fresh conviction. Wednesday’s decision will show whether one hot month is enough to move the Fed.

U.S. CPI Released: Bitcoin’s Initial Reaction
BTC Bitcoin
CoinGecko News
Original source text
ABD’nin Ağustos ayı tüketici enflasyonu açıklandı. Yıllık TÜFE %3,4 ile beklentiye paralel geldi. Aylık TÜFE ise %0,4 arttı ve tahmini karşıladı. Ancak çekirdek TÜFE aylık bazda %0,3 yükselerek %0,2’lik beklentinin üzerine çıktı. Veri, Fed’in önündeki faiz kararını yeniden tartışmaya açtı.

Veri, Fed’in 15-16 Eylül’deki toplantısı öncesinde geldi.

Bu nedenle TÜFE sonrası piyasada asıl takip edilecek gelişme, Fed’in faiz kararına ilişkin fiyatlamanın nasıl değişeceği olacak.

Bitcoin Price Prediction After US CPI and Core CPI Data Release
BTC Bitcoin
CoinGecko News
Original source text
Bitcoin price climbed sharply after fresh United States inflation data eased concerns about persistent annual pressures.

The leading cryptocurrency traded at $79,387.86, gaining 2.89% over 24 hours. Its advance lifted the crypto market 2.36% to $2.69 trillion. XRP price hovered near $1.40, while Ethereum reached a seven-month high during the broader rally.

Bitcoin Price Surges Above $79K After Core CPI Hits 66-Month Low Bitcoin price crossed $79,000 after gaining 4.5% within one hour of the inflation release. Ethereum rallied over 8% during that period, touching $2,640 for the first time in seven months. Stocks, gold, and silver improved, with a wide demand of risk and defensive stocks.

Annual core CPI slowed to 2.4%, its lowest reading in 66 months. The measure excludes food and energy providing a clear picture of underlying inflation. Housing, services and daily products were less stressed and the expectations of a gentler Federal Reserve policy were favored.

🇺🇸 CPI TODAY: BITCOIN READY FOR A BIG MOVE?

August U.S. CPI releases today at 8:30 AM ET / 6:00 PM IST.

Expectations:
Headline: 3.3–3.4% YoY
Core: 2.4% YoY / 0.2% MoM

COOL CPI → $BTC BULLISH
If Core CPI comes below 0.2%, Fed hike expectations could fall, potentially pushing… pic.twitter.com/ZDG1OHbGjH

— Crypto Patel (@CryptoPatel) September 11, 2026

Headline CPI remained at 3.4%, partly because oil prices increased during the Iran conflict. The markets perceived that pressure to be a supply disturbance and not fresh demand-based inflation. This difference contributed to the explanation of the immediate increase of cryptocurrencies and traditional assets.

Hot Monthly Inflation Pushes Fed Rate Hike Odds to 85% Despite the annual slowdown, rate markets raised the estimated probability of a Fed increase to 85%. Monthly core CPI increased by 0.3%, which is higher than the 0.2% consensus projection. The rise was led by firm supercore services, without energy and shelter.

Since the supercore inflation does not involve oil, its intensity may indicate the persistence of domestic demand. Interest-rate traders paid attention to that monthly rate of acceleration, as opposed to the annual core inflation fall. Their reaction was opposite to the investors who took the larger disinflation trend more seriously

Such reactions generated uncertainty ahead of the Fed decision to be made on September 16. Policymakers have to choose to either go with monthly service pressure and abandon the improvement in annual data or continue to improve it.

Bitcoin Price Eyes $80K as Markets Assess the Fed Outlook Bitcoin price approaches $80,000 following its response to the CPI report. A breakout beyond that level may help pick up momentum and challenge greater resistance.

Bitcoin price was heading towards the important resistance level of $80,000 as the current recovery was being backed by the increased volume. An affirmed close beyond this level may be targeted at $82,000 then project to $84,000 as per the future BTC outlook.

The MACD crossover was bullish, and the histogram became positive at 13.86. However, both MACD lines remained below zero, suggesting the recovery still needs confirmation.

The Relative Strength Index increased to 54.98, which would put the Bitcoin in the neutral zone. This reading suggests an improving trend without overbought conditions.

Fed Rate Hike Odds Near 90%. Where Did It Go Wrong For Trump’s Economy?

Donald Trump spent months saying Jerome Powell was the problem. Now Powell is gone, but rates have not budged. On Friday, traders put an 86.9% chance on the Federal Reserve raising rates next week.

That bet runs against everything Trump promised. He wanted cheap money, and even picked Kevin Warsh to deliver it. Warsh has not cut once.

September Rate Cut or Hike Odds. Source: CME FedWatch Tool “As an investor, you have to ask yourself: President Trump effectively made rate CUTS a pre-condition for his next Fed Chair. Will Fed Chair Warsh actually raise interest rates in his first rate move since being appointed Fed Chair by President Trump?” analysts at the Kobeissi Letter posed.

Are markets overestimating the chances of a rate hike? No FOMC chair has cast a dissenting vote since 1939!

Warsh Was Trump’s Favored Hire to Cut RatesWarsh took the oath on May 22, after Trump spent the spring calling Powell slow and late. But Powell did cut, as his committee lowered rates three times in late 2025, finishing on December 10.

Trump spent the spring calling Powell slow and late. Source: Trump on Truth SocialWarsh has lowered them zero times, with his two meetings in June and July ending with no change. If the CME FedWatch Tool is enough to go buy, he may not cut again in the next meeting.

A September Fed rate hike is almost locked in now

85% chance the Fed hikes next week.
It's the right call.
The risks are growing that inflation remains entrenched (or keeps broadening). Fed Chair Warsh doesn't want to make the same mistake Powell did of waiting too long to… pic.twitter.com/RdGcjhTP4G

— Heather Long (@byHeatherLong) September 11, 2026 That is Heather Long, chief economist at Navy Federal Credit Union. Trump hammered Powell for being too late to cut. Long thinks Warsh fears the reverse.

A hike could actually help lower-income Americans, she argues, by cooling prices.

In July, three officials voted to raise rates instead, and based on what interest rate bettors see, the odds are in their favor.

Trump still wants a rate near 1%. Wharton’s Jeremy Siegel says Trump pressure and midterms are all that hold the Fed back.

Friday’s Numbers Look Concerning for WarshCore prices, which ignore food and fuel, rose 0.3% in August. Economists expected 0.2%. Gasoline jumped 3.9% in a single month.

Fed Governor Christopher Waller had warned a hot reading would put a hike on his table. UBS now expects two increases this year.

UBS CPI take:

"Warsh painted himself in a corner here. Well, we've gotten the hard language tough guy speech at Jackson Hole. His remarks were prepared and his messaging was intentional. Now, we've gotten the data – labor market print more robust, inflation still supported.…

— zerohedge (@zerohedge) September 11, 2026 The White House sees none of that. Kevin Hassett, who runs the National Economic Council, points to core inflation at 1.6% over a three-month window, a shorter window than the Fed uses.

Still, not everyone arguing against a hike works for Trump. Among them is Daniel Lacalle, chief economist at Tressis, who argues that a rate hike would go against the Fed’s dual mandate.

The Fed has a dual mandate: Price stability and maximun employment.

A rate hike now goes against both.

✖️ It will do nothing to gas, diesel prices or shelter costs.
✖️ It will hurt job creation, investment and domestic production.

It would engineer a private sector recession. pic.twitter.com/D71X4OKCte

— Daniel Lacalle Official Account (@dlacalle_IA) September 11, 2026 This argument comes as the labor market improves, albeit not enough. Notably, 162,000 jobs were created in August, unemployment was steady at 4.1%, and participation was rising.

“Do not confuse an energy-price shock with demand overheating. Hiking into a recovering job market would be a massive policy mistake,” Lacalle warned.

His point cuts both ways. If energy drove August inflation, no chair was ever going to hand Trump his 1%.

Warsh could still cut later. But he votes on Wednesday. The question is no longer whether Trump got the chair he wanted (Kevin Warsh). It is whether the chair (Jerome Powell) was ever what stood in his way.

Bitcoin (BTC) and gold both slipped on the CPI reaction, but recovered almost immediately.

Eric Crown Quit Altcoins Entirely, Says 99.9% Are Worth Nothing

Technical analyst Eric Crown holds no altcoins at all and says the overwhelming majority of them are worth nothing, a share he puts at more than 99.9%.

Crown made the argument on the BeInCrypto podcast. He also dismissed the chart most traders use to time altcoin rallies.

Why One Analyst Quit Altcoins EntirelyCrown set out his position in an interview with BeInCrypto, where altcoin exposure came up directly.

“No, I don’t hold any altcoins.”

Bitcoin (BTC) and traditional markets make up his book instead. BTC trades near $77,207 after a 1.24% daily decline.

Crown put the failure rate at 99.999%, repeating to infinity, based on what he has watched over multiple cycles. A handful of exceptions exist, in his view, but they stay rare.

“Most people would be better off just buying boring stuff that compounds year-over-year and not trying to overthink it.”

The Dominance Chart He IgnoresThat position rests partly on a metric Crown considers broken. Traders watch dominance to judge whether capital is rotating out of Bitcoin, and he argues it failed that job for three straight years.

“I see so many people obsessed with the Bitcoin dominance chart and I just… I don’t understand it.”

Eric Crown’s monthly Bitcoin dominance chart, annotated to show dominance rising from roughly 38% in early 2023 to 66% in mid-2025 / Source: YouTube “We saw all throughout 2022 to 2025, the Bitcoin dominance chart went to the moon. It was just straight up, straight up, straight up, straight up. But what did we have during that time? We saw the meme coin cycle.”

Dog-themed tokens and AI tokens both delivered outsized returns inside that window. Dominance climbed anyway, peaking near 66% in mid-2025 before stalling around 60%.

The construction adds to his skepticism. Dominance measures Bitcoin’s market value against every other token, and new tokens launch constantly while Bitcoin’s supply stays fixed. Therefore, the denominator inflates whether or not altseason arrives.

What He Watches InsteadHis replacement screen runs in two steps rather than one.

“You should be looking at your favorite shitcoin versus first the dollar… and then look at your favorite shitcoin versus its Bitcoin pairing to figure out if it’s actually outpacing Bitcoin.”

The second step matters, because a rising dollar chart may only reflect a broader Bitcoin rally. Crown named Hyperliquid (HYPE) among a small group performing strongly, and HYPE now sits 11th by market value near $79.61.

HYPE/BTC and HYPE/USDT daily chart / Source: TradingviewMacroeconomic forecasting gets the same treatment. Crown sees no edge in trading data releases without inside information, so he reads large-account positioning through price instead of narrative.

Broader participation could still revive the metric. Should most large caps begin clearing that second test, the ratio Crown dismisses may recover some value, a possibility other analysts continue to track closely.
