Celanese (CE) Earnings Expected to Grow: Should You Buy?
CE Celanese
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Wall Street expects a year-over-year increase in earnings on higher revenues when Celanese (CE - Free Report) reports results for the quarter ended September 2026. While this widely-known consensus outlook is important in gauging the company's earnings picture, a powerful factor that could impact its near-term stock price is how the actual results compare to these estimates.

The stock might move higher if these key numbers top expectations in the upcoming earnings report, which is expected to be released on November 2. On the other hand, if they miss, the stock may move lower.

While management's discussion of business conditions on the earnings call will mostly determine the sustainability of the immediate price change and future earnings expectations, it's worth having a handicapping insight into the odds of a positive EPS surprise.

Zacks Consensus EstimateThis chemical company is expected to post quarterly earnings of $1.52 per share in its upcoming report, which represents a year-over-year change of +13.4%.

Revenues are expected to be $2.58 billion, up 6.5% from the year-ago quarter.

Estimate Revisions TrendThe consensus EPS estimate for the quarter has been revised 3.47% lower over the last 30 days to the current level. This is essentially a reflection of how the covering analysts have collectively reassessed their initial estimates over this period.

Investors should keep in mind that the direction of estimate revisions by each of the covering analysts may not always get reflected in the aggregate change.

Price, Consensus and EPS Surprise

Earnings WhisperEstimate revisions ahead of a company's earnings release offer clues to the business conditions for the period whose results are coming out. Our proprietary surprise prediction model -- the Zacks Earnings ESP (Expected Surprise Prediction) -- has this insight at its core.

The Zacks Earnings ESP compares the Most Accurate Estimate to the Zacks Consensus Estimate for the quarter; the Most Accurate Estimate is a more recent version of the Zacks Consensus EPS estimate. The idea here is that analysts revising their estimates right before an earnings release have the latest information, which could potentially be more accurate than what they and others contributing to the consensus had predicted earlier.

Thus, a positive or negative Earnings ESP reading theoretically indicates the likely deviation of the actual earnings from the consensus estimate. However, the model's predictive power is significant for positive ESP readings only.

A positive Earnings ESP is a strong predictor of an earnings beat, particularly when combined with a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy), 2 (Buy) or 3 (Hold). Our research shows that stocks with this combination produce a positive surprise nearly 70% of the time, and a solid Zacks Rank actually increases the predictive power of Earnings ESP.

Please note that a negative Earnings ESP reading is not indicative of an earnings miss. Our research shows that it is difficult to predict an earnings beat with any degree of confidence for stocks with negative Earnings ESP readings and/or Zacks Rank of 4 (Sell) or 5 (Strong Sell).

How Have the Numbers Shaped Up for Celanese? For Celanese, the Most Accurate Estimate is lower than the Zacks Consensus Estimate, suggesting that analysts have recently become bearish on the company's earnings prospects. This has resulted in an Earnings ESP of -10.59%.

On the other hand, the stock currently carries a Zacks Rank of #3.

So, this combination makes it difficult to conclusively predict that Celanese will beat the consensus EPS estimate.

Does Earnings Surprise History Hold Any Clue? While calculating estimates for a company's future earnings, analysts often consider to what extent it has been able to match past consensus estimates. So, it's worth taking a look at the surprise history for gauging its influence on the upcoming number.

For the last reported quarter, it was expected that Celanese would post earnings of $2.21 per share when it actually produced earnings of $2.45, delivering a surprise of +10.86%.

Over the last four quarters, the company has beaten consensus EPS estimates two times.

Bottom LineAn earnings beat or miss may not be the sole basis for a stock moving higher or lower. Many stocks end up losing ground despite an earnings beat due to other factors that disappoint investors. Similarly, unforeseen catalysts help a number of stocks gain despite an earnings miss.

That said, betting on stocks that are expected to beat earnings expectations does increase the odds of success. This is why it's worth checking a company's Earnings ESP and Zacks Rank ahead of its quarterly release. Make sure to utilize our Earnings ESP Filter to uncover the best stocks to buy or sell before they've reported.

Celanese doesn't appear a compelling earnings-beat candidate. However, investors should pay attention to other factors too for betting on this stock or staying away from it ahead of its earnings release.

An Industry Player's Expected ResultsAnother stock from the Zacks Chemical - Specialty industry, Axalta Coating Systems (AXTA - Free Report) , is soon expected to post earnings of $0.71 per share for the quarter ended September 2026. This estimate indicates a year-over-year change of +6%. Revenues for the quarter are expected to be $1.33 billion, up 3.6% from the year-ago quarter.

The consensus EPS estimate for Axalta Coating Systems has been revised 0.7% lower over the last 30 days to the current level. However, a higher Most Accurate Estimate has resulted in an Earnings ESP of +0.30%.

When combined with a Zacks Rank of #3 (Hold), this Earnings ESP indicates that Axalta Coating Systems will most likely beat the consensus EPS estimate. Over the last four quarters, the company surpassed consensus EPS estimates three times.

Should Robinhood Shares Be in Your Portfolio Ahead of Q3 Earnings?
HOOD Robinhood
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Key Takeaways Robinhood's Q3 revenues are projected to rise 13.1% to $1.44 billion, while earnings may decline 8.2%.Options and equity trading revenues are expected to jump 31.5% and 54.7%, offsetting a 55.7% crypto slump.Robinhood shares surged 29.9% in Q3, but premium valuation, rising expenses and regulatory risks remain.
Robinhood Markets (HOOD - Free Report) is scheduled to report third-quarter 2026 results tomorrow after market close.

After an impressive 2025 performance, momentum continued for HOOD in the first half of 2026 amid crypto weakness. Solid trading activity across options and equities amid heightened volatility led to an increase in transaction-based revenues, while a sell-off in cryptos hampered performance to some extent. The company’s events contract operations witnessed solid performance, which, along with higher net interest revenues (NIR) and a surge in Gold subscribers, was a tailwind. The company’s top line jumped 24% year over year.

HOOD is expected to have witnessed solid revenue growth in the third quarter as well. The Zacks Consensus Estimate for sales of $1.44 billion suggests 13.1% growth on a year-over-year basis.

Robinhood has an impressive earnings surprise history. The company’s earnings outpaced the Zacks Consensus Estimate in three of the trailing four quarters, with the average beat being 15.07%.

With Robinhood’s upcoming earnings release drawing closer, investors may be wondering whether to buy the stock ahead of the announcement or wait for greater clarity from the results. Let’s assess the company’s prospects and key factors that could influence its performance.

Factors to Note & Estimates for HOOD’s Q3 ResultsRevenues: During the third quarter, client activity was robust, driven by heightened volatility. Hence, Robinhood’s transaction revenues are expected to have increased like its peers, Interactive Brokers Group (IBKR - Free Report) and Charles Schwab (SCHW - Free Report) .

Interactive Brokers, which released third-quarter results on Oct. 15, witnessed a 12% year-over-year rise in commissions. Schwab, which also announced quarterly numbers on Oct. 15, recorded 16% growth in trading revenues.

The Zacks Consensus Estimate for HOOD’s transaction-based revenues is pegged at $887.7 million, indicating a 21.6% increase from the prior-year quarter. This performance is likely to have been supported by higher options and equity transaction revenues. However, cryptocurrencies transaction revenues and the prediction markets business may have remained subdued during the quarter.

The consensus estimate for options transaction revenues is $399.8 million, suggesting a 31.5% jump. Further, the Zacks Consensus Estimate for equity and cryptocurrencies transaction revenues is pegged at $133 million and $118.7 million, respectively. Equity transaction revenues are projected to soar 54.7%, while cryptocurrencies transaction revenues are estimated to plunge 55.7% year over year. The consensus estimate for other transaction revenues of $51.4 million suggests a 28.6% fall.

Robinhood’s NIR is expected to have witnessed a subdued performance amid higher interest rates. The consensus estimate for the metric is $430.7 million, implying a 5.6% decline.

The Zacks Consensus Estimate for other revenues is pegged at $134.4 million, suggesting a 52.7% jump from the prior-year quarter.

Expenses: Total operating expenses are likely to have remained elevated as HOOD invests in key areas to enhance platform capabilities, drive product innovation, improve customer support and build upon regulatory and compliance functions. Further, expansion through global presence is likely to have added to expenses.

What Our Model Unveils for RobinhoodOur quantitative model shows that the chances of an earnings beat for Robinhood are high this time. The combination of a positive Earnings ESP and a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy), 2 (Buy) or 3 (Hold) increases the odds of an earnings beat. That is the case here, as you see below.

Earnings ESP: Robinhood has an Earnings ESP of +0.22%. You can uncover the best stocks to buy or sell before they are reported with our Earnings ESP Filter.

Zacks Rank: It sports a Zacks Rank #1 at present. You can see the complete list of today’s Zacks #1 Rank stocks here.

HOOD Stock Price Performance & ValuationIn the third quarter, Robinhood shares jumped 29.9% against the industry’s decline of 6.8%. It also outperformed Schwab and Interactive Brokers.

HOOD’s Q3 2026 Price Performance

Now, let’s look at the value Robinhood offers investors at current levels.

Currently, HOOD is trading at 9.88X 12-month trailing price/tangible book (P/TB), above the industry’s P/TB TTM multiple of 2.95X. Hence, the stock is trading at a steep premium compared with the industry.

HOOD P/TB TTM

Robinhood stock is expensive compared with Interactive Brokers and Schwab. At present, Interactive Brokers and Schwab have a P/TB TTM of 1.57X and 6.44X, respectively.

Robinhood: Investment ThesisRobinhood continues to make meaningful progress in diversifying its revenue streams and strengthening its product portfolio. Innovative product launches and international expansion (Europe, Canada, Singapore and Dubai) support its ambition to establish a comprehensive global financial platform.

HOOD’s expanding offerings appeal to younger, digitally savvy customers, while reduced dependence on transaction-based revenues reflects an evolving business model. Strong liquidity, a $1.4 billion share repurchase program, $2.2 billion in debt issuance and healthy customer engagement amid increasing digital asset adoption reinforce its competitive position.

However, heightened regulatory scrutiny, penalties and investigations across jurisdictions could raise compliance costs and complicate expansion plans. Moreover, its entry into banking introduces execution challenges in a highly competitive market, potentially weighing on near-term performance.

Robinhood stands to benefit from heightened market volatility and increased trading activity, although cryptocurrency market weakness could pressure revenues. Investments in tokenization, strategic acquisitions and product enhancements should help broaden its revenue base over time. While regulatory uncertainties and crypto-related volatility warrant a cautious near-term stance, Robinhood’s diversification efforts strengthen its long-term prospects.

How to Approach Robinhood Shares Ahead of Q3 Earnings?Robinhood presents a favorable investment opportunity ahead of its third-quarter earnings release, supported by robust trading activity, product diversification and encouraging revenue prospects. Strength in options and equities trading, alongside expanding subscription offerings, is expected to support results despite cryptocurrency-related weakness.

However, its premium valuation, elevated expenses and regulatory uncertainties could limit near-term upside. Despite these risks, Robinhood’s strategic initiatives and improving business diversification underpin its long-term prospects. Thus, investors with a higher risk appetite may consider buying HOOD shares ahead of earnings, while valuation-conscious investors may prefer awaiting greater clarity from the results.

Is Robinhood Stock a Buy About a Third Below Its Record High?
HOOD Robinhood
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Robinhood (HOOD -2.33%) basically forced its competitors in the discount brokerage industry to adopt free trading. And it has pushed quickly into new areas, such as cryptocurrencies and prediction markets. While this has allowed Robinhood to grow materially and meet its customers' demands, it has kept pressure on peers such as Charles Schwab (SCHW -0.07%) and Interactive Brokers (IBKR +0.80%).

But that doesn't mean Robinhood is an attractive investment right now, even after it has lost more than a third of its value from its 2025 high. Here's why you might want to tread with caution.

Robinhood remains relatively expensive
Robinhood hit its all-time high of around $152 per share in late 2025. It trades at around $97 as of this writing, a decline of roughly 35%. That's a sizable drop and much larger than the declines in Schwab or Interactive Brokers, which are down roughly 15% and 20%, respectively, from their recent highs. Based on the stock price moves, you might think that this is a value opportunity.

The problem is that Robinhood's price-to-earnings ratio is around 42x. That's still much higher than its competitors, with Schwab at 16x and Interactive Brokers at 31x. Value investors probably won't be interested in Robinhood. And growth investors should probably tread with caution as well.

Robinhood's customers are new and untested
To be fair to Robinhood, the company has experienced rapid growth and managed that growth very well. As noted, it helped transform the discount brokerage industry with its free-trading model. However, the company only went public in 2021. It hasn't been public through a truly deep market downturn, like the Great Recession or the dot-com crash.

HOOD Robinhood Markets$92.86-$2.21 (-2.33%)

NASDAQ · As of 10:43 AM ET 10/26/26

Meanwhile, Robinhood specifically attempts to attract customers who are new to investing, as it looks to "democratize finance for all." That's a laudable goal, but it also means that its customers haven't been tested by a deep and prolonged bear market, either. And the company has been growing in high-risk areas, such as the aforementioned cryptocurrencies and prediction markets.

Younger, risk-taking customers may be shocked by a long-lived and painful market downturn. And that could lead them to exit the markets, perhaps permanently, as they watch their savings vanish. If they are using leverage, which has been a growing part of Robinhood's business (margin balances rose 127% year over year in the second quarter of 2026), they may have no choice but to sell.

Robinhood has done a great job of growing its business, and it is highly likely to survive any market downturn it faces. But the premium it is being afforded relative to peers, even after a deep drawdown, should probably keep most investors on the sidelines until the company and its customers have faced a test on the scale of the Great Recession or the dot-com bubble.

Medifast (MED) Reports Q3 Loss, Tops Revenue Estimates
MED Medifast
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Medifast (MED - Free Report) came out with a quarterly loss of $0.19 per share versus the Zacks Consensus Estimate of a loss of $0.4. This compares to a loss of $0.21 per share a year ago. These figures are adjusted for non-recurring items.

This quarterly report represents an earnings surprise of +52.50%. A quarter ago, it was expected that this weight-loss company would post a loss of $0.67 per share when it actually produced a loss of $0.28, delivering a surprise of +58.21%.

Over the last four quarters, the company has surpassed consensus EPS estimates four times.

Medifast, which belongs to the Zacks Food - Miscellaneous industry, posted revenues of $72.05 million for the quarter ended September 2026, surpassing the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 5.89%. This compares to year-ago revenues of $89.41 million. The company has topped consensus revenue estimates four times over the last four quarters.

The sustainability of the stock's immediate price movement based on the recently-released numbers and future earnings expectations will mostly depend on management's commentary on the earnings call.

Medifast shares have added about 11.1% since the beginning of the year versus the S&P 500's gain of 11.4%.

What's Next for Medifast? While Medifast has underperformed the market so far this year, the question that comes to investors' minds is: what's next for the stock?

There are no easy answers to this key question, but one reliable measure that can help investors address this is the company's earnings outlook. Not only does this include current consensus earnings expectations for the coming quarter(s), but also how these expectations have changed lately.

Empirical research shows a strong correlation between near-term stock movements and trends in earnings estimate revisions. Investors can track such revisions by themselves or rely on a tried-and-tested rating tool like the Zacks Rank, which has an impressive track record of harnessing the power of earnings estimate revisions.

Ahead of this earnings release, the estimate revisions trend for Medifast was mixed. While the magnitude and direction of estimate revisions could change following the company's just-released earnings report, the current status translates into a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold) for the stock. So, the shares are expected to perform in line with the market in the near future. You can see the complete list of today's Zacks #1 Rank (Strong Buy) stocks here.

It will be interesting to see how estimates for the coming quarters and the current fiscal year change in the days ahead. The current consensus EPS estimate is -$0.17 on $59.98 million in revenues for the coming quarter and -$1.04 on $280.44 million in revenues for the current fiscal year.

Investors should be mindful of the fact that the outlook for the industry can have a material impact on the performance of the stock as well. In terms of the Zacks Industry Rank, Food - Miscellaneous is currently in the bottom 18% of the 250 plus Zacks industries. Our research shows that the top 50% of the Zacks-ranked industries outperform the bottom 50% by a factor of more than 2 to 1.

Another stock from the same industry, Vital Farms (VITL - Free Report) , has yet to report results for the quarter ended September 2026. The results are expected to be released on November 3.

This company is expected to post quarterly loss of $0.14 per share in its upcoming report, which represents a year-over-year change of -138.9%. The consensus EPS estimate for the quarter has been revised 10.4% lower over the last 30 days to the current level.

Vital Farms' revenues are expected to be $184.6 million, down 7.2% from the year-ago quarter.

What Medifast (MED) Said on Its Q3 Earnings Call
MED Medifast
FMP Stock News
Original source text
LifeMD Can Surge on Its GLP-1 Offerings Medifast NYSE: MED reported third-quarter 2026 revenue of $72 million, down 19.4% from a year earlier, as the company continued to face a sharp decline in its active earning coach base. Management said revenue was within its guidance range and marked a fourth consecutive quarter in which sales stabilized around the mid-$70 million range.

The company ended the quarter with approximately 10,200 active earning coaches, compared with 19,500 in the third quarter of 2025. Chief Financial Officer Jim Maloney said the decline reflects, in part, rapid adoption of GLP-1 medications across the traditional weight-loss category.

Get Medifast alerts:

LifeMD Shares Come Back to Life on GLP-1 Business Growth Despite the lower coach count, Medifast said coach productivity continued to improve. Average revenue per active earning coach rose 54.1% year over year to $7,064, while CEO Nick Johnson said productivity improved 54% in the third quarter and increased an estimated 8% sequentially. The company expects active earning coach counts to continue declining through year-end, while anticipating further productivity gains.

Trilivy Rollout Targets Metabolic Health Market Johnson said the quarter centered on execution of Medifast’s “3.0” strategy, including the rollout of its Trilivy brand, Reset product line, revised coach compensation plan and unified coach training platform.

Are These Consumer Staples Too Cheap for Investors To Ignore? The company is positioning Trilivy as a metabolic health platform rather than a traditional weight-loss offering. Its three-phase system includes Reset, Refine and Renew, which are intended to support clients from initial weight loss through longer-term metabolic health and body-composition goals.

Medifast said Reset Fuelings became available to coaches and clients in August, with all stock-keeping units expected to convert to the Reset line by the end of the fourth quarter. The company also introduced its MetaVantage ingredient platform, which it said is designed to support fat metabolism, waist-circumference reduction and healthy insulin levels.

Johnson cited an independent clinical study in which the Reset 5 & 1 Plan reduced visceral fat by 14% while retaining 98% of lean mass over 16 weeks. He said 95% of active earning coaches were already offering Trilivy Reset products to clients in September.

Management said the company’s updated coach compensation structure emphasizes the development of high-producing Executive Directors. Johnson said the plan was designed to improve the quality and productivity of the coach network, even as the overall number of active coaches remains under pressure.

GLP-1 Use Reshapes Client Conversations During the question-and-answer session, Johnson said GLP-1 medications have become “ubiquitous” in the marketplace and that Medifast coaches are regularly working with clients who use the medications.

He said conversations have shifted from the amount of weight a client loses to the quality of weight lost, including preserving lean mass and skeletal muscle. Johnson said Medifast views GLP-1 medications as a potential catalyst for consumers to begin a health journey, while maintaining that medications alone may not support lasting lifestyle changes.

Maloney said Medifast has survey data on the percentage of clients using GLP-1 medications but does not centrally track GLP-1 use for every customer or by individual order. As a result, he said the company could not provide specific spending comparisons between clients using GLP-1s and those solely using Medifast’s program.

Catalyst Restructuring Drives Charges, Cost Reduction Efforts Medifast recorded a $19.4 million operating loss in the third quarter, compared with a $4.1 million operating loss a year earlier. The result included charges tied to Project Catalyst, a restructuring program involving facility closures, retirement of internal-use software and other cost-realignment actions.

SG&A expense increased 4.8% to $69.4 million, driven primarily by $13.8 million in Catalyst restructuring charges. Those expenses were partly offset by a $6.6 million reduction in coach compensation and a $1.4 million decline in IT consulting spending.

On a non-GAAP basis excluding Catalyst-related expenses, Medifast’s operating loss improved 3.2% to $4 million. Adjusted EBITDA, excluding stock-based compensation and Catalyst charges, was $0.4 million, while adjusted EBITDA excluding interest income was $1.9 million.

The company reported a net loss of $17.5 million, or $1.57 per diluted share, compared with a loss of $2.3 million, or $0.21 per share, in the prior-year quarter. Excluding Catalyst-related expenses, the adjusted net loss was $2.1 million, or $0.19 per diluted share.

Maloney said Medifast continues to seek efficiencies through process improvements and artificial intelligence applications. He said management expects AI and operational changes to reduce the need to add certain fixed costs if revenue returns to growth.

Fourth-Quarter Profitability Target Remains Medifast ended September with $172.5 million in cash equivalents and investments and no debt. Johnson said the company’s balance sheet and leaner cost structure provide a foundation for investments in growth initiatives while pursuing profitability.

For the fourth quarter, Medifast forecast revenue of $55 million to $75 million and earnings per share between breakeven and $0.25. It expects adjusted EBITDA excluding interest income of $2 million to $6 million.

For full-year 2026, the company forecast revenue of $280 million to $300 million and a loss of $1.80 to $2.05 per share. On a non-GAAP basis, it expects a loss of $0.45 to $0.70 per share and adjusted EBITDA excluding interest income of $10 million to $14 million.

Johnson said Medifast remains focused on achieving profitability in the fourth quarter, while acknowledging that rebuilding the coach count remains a key challenge.

Here's Why Steel Dynamics (STLD) is a Strong Value Stock
STLD Steel Dynamics
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Taking full advantage of the stock market and investing with confidence are common goals for new and old investors, and Zacks Premium offers many different ways to do both.

The research service features daily updates of the Zacks Rank and Zacks Industry Rank, full access to the Zacks #1 Rank List, Equity Research reports, and Premium stock screens, all of which will help you become a smarter, more confident investor.

It also includes access to the Zacks Style Scores.

What are the Zacks Style Scores? The Zacks Style Scores, developed alongside the Zacks Rank, are complementary indicators that rate stocks based on three widely-followed investing methodologies; they also help investors pick stocks with the best chances of beating the market over the next 30 days.

Each stock is given an alphabetic rating of A, B, C, D or F based on their value, growth, and momentum qualities. With this system, an A is better than a B, a B is better than a C, and so on, meaning the better the score, the better chance the stock will outperform.

The Style Scores are broken down into four categories:

Value ScoreValue investors love finding good stocks at good prices, especially before the broader market catches on to a stock's true value. Utilizing ratios like P/E, PEG, Price/Sales, Price/Cash Flow, and many other multiples, the Value Style Score identifies the most attractive and most discounted stocks.

Growth ScoreGrowth investors, on the other hand, are more concerned with a company's financial strength and health, and its future outlook. The Growth Style Score examines things like projected and historic earnings, sales, and cash flow to find stocks that will experience sustainable growth over time.

Momentum ScoreMomentum investors, who live by the saying "the trend is your friend," are most interested in taking advantage of upward or downward trends in a stock's price or earnings outlook. Utilizing one-week price change and the monthly percentage change in earnings estimates, among other factors, the Momentum Style Score can help determine favorable times to buy high-momentum stocks.

VGM ScoreIf you want a combination of all three Style Scores, then the VGM Score will be your friend. It rates each stock on their combined weighted styles, helping you find the companies with the most attractive value, best growth forecast, and most promising momentum. It's also one of the best indicators to use with the Zacks Rank.

How Style Scores Work with the Zacks Rank The Zacks Rank, which is a proprietary stock-rating model, employs earnings estimate revisions, or changes to a company's earnings expectations, to make building a winning portfolio easier.

It's highly successful, with #1 (Strong Buy) stocks producing an unmatched +23.82% average annual return since 1988. That's more than double the S&P 500. But because of the large number of stocks we rate, there are over 200 companies with a Strong Buy rank, plus another 600 with a #2 (Buy) rank, on any given day.

With more than 800 top-rated stocks to choose from, it can certainly feel overwhelming to pick the ones that are right for you and your investing journey.

That's where the Style Scores come in.

To have the best chance of big returns, you'll want to always consider stocks with a Zacks Rank #1 or #2 that also have Style Scores of A or B, which will give you the highest probability of success. If you're looking at stocks with a #3 (Hold) rank, it's important they have Scores of A or B as well to ensure as much upside potential as possible.

As mentioned above, the Scores are designed to work with the Zacks Rank, so any change to a company's earnings outlook should be a deciding factor when picking which stocks to buy.

For instance, a stock with a #4 (Sell) or #5 (Strong Sell) rating, even one that boasts Scores of A and B, still has a downward-trending earnings forecast, and a much greater likelihood its share price will decline as well.

Thus, the more stocks you own with a #1 or #2 Rank and Scores of A or B, the better.

Stock to Watch: Steel Dynamics (STLD - Free Report) Based in Fort Wayne, IN, Steel Dynamics, Inc. is among the leading steel producers and metal recyclers in the United States. It is one of the most diversified steel companies in the United States with a vast range of specialty products. The company makes and markets steel products, processes and sells recycled ferrous and nonferrous metals, and fabricates and sells steel joist and decking products in the United States and internationally.

STLD is a #2 (Buy) on the Zacks Rank, with a VGM Score of B.

It also boasts a Value Style Score of B thanks to attractive valuation metrics like a forward P/E ratio of 13.26; value investors should take notice.

Three analysts revised their earnings estimate higher in the last 60 days for fiscal 2026, while the Zacks Consensus Estimate has increased $0.90 to $18.22 per share. STLD also boasts an average earnings surprise of +1.5%.

With a solid Zacks Rank and top-tier Value and VGM Style Scores, STLD should be on investors' short list.

5 Top-Ranked Stocks That Are Likely to Deliver Earnings Beats
PBF PBF Energy
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Key Takeaways Top-ranked EL, IMAX, SWK, STRL and PBF show strong potential to deliver earnings beats this season. Positive Earnings ESP, high Zacks Rank and surprise history boost the odds of earnings surprises. Strong earnings beats often fuel stock gains, making these five names worth watching before results.
It is not surprising that before an earnings season, every investor looks for stocks that can beat market expectations. This is because investors always try to position themselves ahead of time and look to tap stocks that are high-quality in nature.

In this regard, we ran a screener that identified stocks such as The Estee Lauder Companies (EL - Free Report) , IMAX (IMAX - Free Report) , Stanley Black & Decker (SWK - Free Report) , Sterling Infrastructure Inc. (STRL - Free Report) and PBF Energy (PBF - Free Report) as likely winners on earnings-beat potential.

Why Is a Positive Earnings Surprise So Important?Historically, stocks of companies with solid quarterly earnings (on a nominal basis) tank if they miss or merely meet market expectations. After all, a 20% earnings rise (though apparently looks good) doesn’t tell you if earnings growth has been exhibiting a decelerating trend.

Also, seasonal fluctuations come into play sometimes. If a company’s first quarter is seasonally weak and its fourth quarter strong, then it is likely to report a sequential earnings decline. In such cases, growth rates are misleading when judging the true health of a company.

On the other hand, after much brainstorming and analysis of companies’ financials and initiatives, Wall Street analysts project companies' earnings. They, in fact, combine their insights and a company’s guidance when deriving an earnings estimate.

Thus, outperforming that estimate is almost equivalent to beating the company’s own expectation as well as the market perception. And if the margin of earnings surprise is big, it typically drives the stock higher right after the release. Thus, more than anything else, an earnings surprise can push a stock higher.

How to Find Stocks That Can Beat? Now, finding stocks that have the potential to beat on the bottom line may be investors’ dream but not an easy job. One way to do this is to look at the earnings surprise history of the company.

An impressive track record in this regard generally acts as a catalyst in sending a stock higher. It indicates the company’s ability to surpass estimates. And investors generally believe that the company will apply the same secret sauce to execute yet another earnings beat in its next release.

The Winning StrategyIn order to shortlist stocks that are likely to come up with an earnings surprise, we chose the following as our primary screening parameters.

Last EPS Surprise greater than or equal to 10%: Stocks delivering positive surprise in the last quarter tend to surprise again.

Average EPS Surprise in the last four quarters greater than 20%: We lifted the bar for outperformance slightly higher by setting the average earnings surprise for the last four quarters at 20%.

Average EPS Surprise in the last two quarters greater than 20%: This points to a more consistent surprise history and makes the case for another surprise even stronger.

In addition, we place a few other criteria that push up the chance of a positive surprise.

Zacks Rank less than or equal to 2: Only companies with a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy) or 2 (Buy) rating can get through.

Earnings ESP greater than zero: A stock needs to have both a positive Earnings ESP and a Zacks Rank of #1, 2 or 3 for an earnings beat to happen, as per our proven model.

In order to zero in on those that have long-term growth potential and high trading liquidity, we have added the following parameters too:

Next 3–5 Years Estimated EPS Growth (Per Year) greater than 10%: Solid expected earnings growth exhibits the stock’s long-term growth prospects.

Average 20-day Volume greater than 100,000: High trading volume implies that the stocks have adequate liquidity.

A handful of criteria have narrowed down the universe from over 7,700 stocks to only 15.

Here are five out of the 15 stocks:

The Estee Lauder Companies: This Zacks Rank #2 company is one of the world's leading manufacturers and marketers of skin care, makeup, fragrance and hair care products. You can see the complete list of today’s Zacks #1 Rank stocks here.

The average earnings surprise for EL in the past four quarters is 41.43%.

IMAX: This Zacks Rank #1 company is a leading global entertainment technology company specializing in motion picture technologies and presentations.

The average earnings surprise for IMAX in the past four quarters is 31.37%.

Stanley Black & Decker: This Zacks Rank #2 company manufactures and provides tools (power and hand tools) and related accessories, engineered fastening systems, and several other items and services.

The average earnings surprise for SWK in the past four quarters is 23.29%.

Sterling Infrastructure Inc.: The company is a diversified U.S. infrastructure services company. The stock has a Zacks Rank #2.

The average earnings surprise of STRL in the past four quarters is 27.21%.

PBF Energy: The company is a leading independent refiner of crude oil. The stock has a Zacks Rank #1.

The average earnings surprise for PBF in the past four quarters is 123.38%.

PBF Energy's Q3 Earnings on Deck: Should You Bet on the Stock?
PBF PBF Energy
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Key Takeaways PBF is set to report Q3 earnings on Oct. 29, with EPS estimated at $11.12 and revenues at $10.34 billion.Higher oil prices may pressure PBF's refining margins, but strong utilization could offset costs.PBF trades at a low valuation of 5.15x EV/EBITDA, while California's gasoline shortage could boost profits.
PBF Energy Inc. (PBF - Free Report) is set to report third-quarter 2026 results on Oct. 29, before the opening bell.

The Zacks Consensus Estimate for third-quarter earnings is pegged at $11.12 per share, implying a massive improvement from the year-ago reported number. It has witnessed no estimate revisions in the past seven days. The Zacks Consensus Estimate for third-quarter revenues is currently pegged at $10.34 billion, suggesting a surge of 35.1% from the year-ago actuals.

PBF beat the consensus estimate for earnings in three of the trailing four quarters and missed once, with the average surprise being 123.4%. This is depicted in the graph below:

Q3 Earnings Whispers for PBFOur proven model predicts an earnings beat for PBF this time around. The combination of a positive Earnings ESP and a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy), 2 (Buy), or 3 (Hold) increases the chances of an earnings beat. That is the case here.

The leading refining player has an Earnings ESP of +0.34%. PBF currently sports a Zacks Rank #1. You can see the complete list of today’s Zacks #1 Rank stocks here.

You can uncover the best stocks to buy or sell before they’re reported with our Earnings ESP Filter.

PBF’s Factors to NoteTo understand how oil prices behaved in the September quarter, let's analyze the commodity prices from the data provided by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (“EIA”). The average Cushing, OK, WTI spot prices for July, August and September of this year were $80.46               per barrel, $83.90 per barrel and $97.31 per barrel, respectively, per EIA data. Commodity prices were $68.39 per barrel, $64.86 per barrel and $63.96 per barrel in the prior-year respective quarters, according to the EIA.

A constructive oil-price backdrop, driven by the Iran war, is likely to have hurt the refining business of PBF Energy in the third quarter, since the input costs to produce final products were higher. A similar dynamic is likely to have affected Par Pacific Holdings, Inc. (PARR - Free Report) and Valero Energy Corporation (VLO - Free Report) , belonging to the same space.

However, the high utilization of refineries in the United States to meet resilient demand is likely to have largely offset the negative impacts of high input costs.

PBF’s Price Performance & ValuationPBF's stock has surged 127.8% over the past year, underperforming the industry’s 128.7% growth. PARR has jumped 88.8% over the same time frame, while VLO has gained 140.5%.

One-Year Price Chart

With PBF’s stock price underperforming the industry, the company appears relatively undervalued. The company's current trailing 12-month enterprise value/earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (EV/EBITDA) is 5.15x, reflecting that it is trading at a discount compared with the industry average of 6.38x.  VLO and PARR are valued at 5.63x and 3.26x, respectively.

Investment Thesis of PBFPBF Energy is among the leading refiners in the United States. High refinery utilization amid resilient U.S. demand is expected to continue offsetting the negative impacts of elevated input costs, driven by high oil prices. This should boost PBF’s bottom line. The company’s business environment will likely remain lucrative, given that management expects the normalization of refined-product inventories to extend into 2027.

The mid-cap refiner’s prospects remain bright, as the company said on the second-quarter 2026 earnings call that California has had a persistent gasoline supply deficit. This is because roughly one-third of the state's gasoline requirements are met through imports, per data from the company’s transcript. Thus, PBF's established refining presence at Torrance and Martinez positions it to benefit from these market conditions, potentially supporting stronger margins and profitability.

Last WordGiven the favorable business landscape, it might be the ideal time for investors to bet on the undervalued energy stock.

Analysts Estimate Check Point Software (CHKP) to Report a Decline in Earnings: What to Look Out for
CHKP Check Point Software Technologies
FMP Stock News
Original source text
The market expects Check Point Software (CHKP - Free Report) to deliver a year-over-year decline in earnings on lower revenues when it reports results for the quarter ended September 2026. This widely-known consensus outlook is important in assessing the company's earnings picture, but a powerful factor that might influence its near-term stock price is how the actual results compare to these estimates.

The stock might move higher if these key numbers top expectations in the upcoming earnings report, which is expected to be released on November 2. On the other hand, if they miss, the stock may move lower.

While the sustainability of the immediate price change and future earnings expectations will mostly depend on management's discussion of business conditions on the earnings call, it's worth handicapping the probability of a positive EPS surprise.

Zacks Consensus EstimateThis data security company is expected to post quarterly earnings of $2.49 per share in its upcoming report, which represents a year-over-year change of -36.8%.

Revenues are expected to be $672.51 million, down 0.7% from the year-ago quarter.

Estimate Revisions TrendThe consensus EPS estimate for the quarter has been revised 0.22% lower over the last 30 days to the current level.

This insight is at the core of our proprietary surprise prediction model -- the Zacks Earnings ESP (Expected Surprise Prediction).

How Have the Numbers Shaped Up for Check Point? For Check Point, the Most Accurate Estimate is higher than the Zacks Consensus Estimate, suggesting that analysts have recently become bullish on the company's earnings prospects. This has resulted in an Earnings ESP of +0.09%.

On the other hand, the stock currently carries a Zacks Rank of #4.

So, this combination makes it difficult to conclusively predict that Check Point will beat the consensus EPS estimate.

Does Earnings Surprise History Hold Any Clue? While calculating estimates for a company's future earnings, analysts often consider to what extent it has been able to match past consensus estimates. So, it's worth taking a look at the surprise history for gauging its influence on the upcoming number.

For the last reported quarter, it was expected that Check Point would post earnings of $2.45 per share when it actually produced earnings of $2.55, delivering a surprise of +4.08%.

Over the last four quarters, the company has beaten consensus EPS estimates four times.

Check Point doesn't appear a compelling earnings-beat candidate. However, investors should pay attention to other factors too for betting on this stock or staying away from it ahead of its earnings release.

Top AI-Powered Cybersecurity Stocks to Buy as Digital Threats Rise
ZS Zscaler
FMP Stock News
Original source text
An updated edition of the Sept. 1, 2026 article.

Cybersecurity has become a critical priority for businesses as cyberattacks grow more frequent and sophisticated. Ransomware, phishing and large-scale data breaches can disrupt operations, cause significant financial losses and damage a company's reputation. As businesses become increasingly dependent on digital systems, protecting sensitive information is no longer optional.

This growing need for protection is creating a major opportunity for cybersecurity companies. According to Fortune Business Insights, the global cybersecurity market is projected to grow from $218.98 billion in 2025 to nearly $699.39 billion by 2034, representing a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 13.8%. Stricter regulations, digital transformation and the growing use of cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI) are expected to support this expansion. Companies such as Palo Alto Networks, Inc. (PANW - Free Report) , CrowdStrike Holdings, Inc. (CRWD - Free Report) and Zscaler, Inc. (ZS - Free Report) are positioned to benefit from these trends through security platforms designed to address increasingly complex threats.

Traditional security tools are struggling to keep pace with attacks that are becoming faster and more sophisticated. This is where AI can make a meaningful difference. AI-powered tools can analyze enormous volumes of data, identify unusual activity and help security teams detect threats before they cause serious damage. By automating detection and response, AI can help companies move beyond reacting to attacks toward preventing or containing them more quickly. As cyber risks continue to evolve, this ability to respond faster is becoming an increasingly important competitive advantage.

Companies like Palantir Technologies, Inc. (PLTR - Free Report) , Cisco Systems, Inc. (CSCO - Free Report) , Fortinet, Inc. (FTNT - Free Report) and Qualys, Inc. (QLYS - Free Report) are well-positioned to benefit from this trend. Each company is embedding AI across its security platform to improve threat detection, simplify security management and deliver better outcomes for customers. These investments not only strengthen their competitive positions but also open new long-term growth opportunities.

Our Cybersecurity Screen makes it easy to identify high-potential stocks at any given time, just like the four mentioned above. Leveraging advanced tools, our thematic screens identify companies shaping the future, making it easier to capitalize on emerging trends.

Ready to uncover more transformative thematic investment ideas? Explore 40 cutting-edge investment themes with Zacks Thematic Screens and discover your next big opportunity.

Palantir Technologies develops software platforms that help government agencies, intelligence organizations and businesses analyze complex data and make better decisions. Its technology supports intelligence and counterterrorism operations in the United States and other countries, while its commercial business serves organizations across several industries.

Palantir Technologies’ AI strategy is comprehensive, combining its proprietary Foundry and Gotham platforms with a solid plan to promote AI adoption across both government and commercial sectors. Its AI Platform (“AIP”) is the backbone of these capabilities, enabling organizations to process large datasets and derive real-time insights. This is especially valuable in sectors requiring extensive data integration, such as defense, healthcare, finance and intelligence, where operational efficiency and decision-making speed are critical.

In the government sector, Palantir Technologies is aligning its AI strategy with U.S. defense priorities. Its work on high-profile initiatives, such as the Department of Defense’s Open DAGIR project, highlights its ability to modernize military operations through AI-driven solutions where data interoperability and real-time decision-making capabilities are imperative. These capabilities solidify Palantir Technologies’ position as a key player in the defense sector. In the commercial space, PLTR's AIP boot camps — providing hands-on experience to more than 1,000 companies — have proven instrumental in customer acquisition.

With the global cybersecurity market rapidly expanding, this Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy) company’s deep integration of AI not only enhances its competitive edge but also provides an opportunity for sustainable revenue growth. You can see the complete list of today’s Zacks #1 Rank stocks here.

Cisco Systems provides networking and cybersecurity products that help organizations protect their systems from unauthorized access, malware and other digital threats. The company is also embedding AI across its networking, security, collaboration and observability businesses, allowing it to address the growing need for secure and reliable digital infrastructure.

Demand for AI infrastructure has emerged as an important growth driver for Cisco. In the fourth quarter of fiscal 2026, the company received $4 billion in AI infrastructure orders from web-scale customers, bringing its total orders for fiscal 2026 to $9.3 billion. These figures highlight the growing demand for networking equipment capable of supporting large-scale AI workloads.

Cisco also reported solid double-digit year-over-year growth in data center switching orders during the fourth quarter, reflecting continued investment in AI-ready networks. Demand from major cloud computing companies is particularly encouraging because AI applications require fast, reliable connections between servers and computing systems. To capitalize on this opportunity, Cisco is expanding its data center portfolio with solutions such as the Unified Nexus Dashboard, Cisco Intelligent Packet Flow, configurable AI PODs and 400G bidirectional (BiDi) optics.

As cyber threats become more sophisticated, CSCO’s AI-powered platform gives it a competitive edge. These innovations are likely to accelerate customer adoption and support strong long-term revenue growth for this Zacks Rank #2 (Buy) company.

Fortinet provides networking and cybersecurity solutions to businesses, service providers and government organizations in more than 100 countries. The company is using AI to improve threat detection, automate security operations and help customers manage increasingly complex digital environments.

Fortinet has integrated AI capabilities across its Fortinet Security Fabric, including through its FortiAI platform. These tools help security teams investigate threats, respond to incidents and simplify routine security tasks with the support of generative AI. Faster detection and response can reduce the time attackers have to exploit vulnerabilities, while automation can help organizations manage security operations more efficiently.

The company is also applying AI across network security, secure access service edge (SASE) and security operations (SecOps). Its FortiGuard Labs threat intelligence service analyzes billions of security events daily to identify emerging risks and provide timely protection. By combining threat intelligence with its broader security platform, Fortinet aims to help customers strengthen their defenses while reducing the complexity of managing multiple security products.

Fortinet's expanding AI portfolio is supporting demand from enterprises modernizing their security infrastructure. As organizations increasingly adopt AI while facing more advanced cyber threats, the company's integrated platform and AI-driven innovations position it to win larger enterprise deployments, drive recurring revenues and sustain long-term growth. Currently, Fortinet carries a Zacks Rank #2.

Qualys provides a cloud-based cybersecurity and compliance platform that helps organizations identify vulnerabilities, assess cyber risks and reduce their exposure to attacks. The company is expanding beyond traditional vulnerability management with its AI-driven risk operations strategy, led by Enterprise TruRisk Management.

Qualys is adding capabilities designed to help customers identify and address security risks more quickly. InstaScan supports rapid, scanless vulnerability detection following the disclosure of a new vulnerability, while TruConfirm and Agent Val help validate potential exploits. Agent Sara focuses on autonomous remediation, helping organizations address vulnerabilities with less manual effort. Together, these tools aim to connect vulnerability detection, validation, risk assessment and remediation in a more efficient process.

According to Qualys, the platform can narrow millions of findings to fewer than 1% that require immediate action, and in live benchmarking, reduce exposure windows from 21 days to minutes while automatically patching 60% of vulnerabilities. These capabilities create a closed loop from detection through validation, risk quantification, remediation and confirmation of closure.

The approach also works with third-party data and multi-vendor environments, which can broaden its relevance beyond the installed Qualys stack. The growing adoption of its risk operations center framework will support Enterprise TruRisk Management penetration within the VMDR customer base and create larger upsell opportunities over time.

Early adoption is encouraging. During second-quarter 2026 results, Qualys stated that the AI-native Risk Operations Center and Enterprise TruRisk Management solution contributed to its quarterly performance. AI could help this Zacks Rank #2 company increase platform adoption, expand its addressable market and support faster long-term growth.

Moderna Tumbles 7% as Cancer Vaccine Selloff Deepens; BioNTech Falls 3%, Pfizer Holds Steady
BNTX BioNTech
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Moderna's personalized melanoma vaccine cleared its primary hurdle in a late-stage trial, yet shares are sinking fast. The gap between what the data promised and what it delivered is forcing traders to rethink how much the company's flagship cancer bet…

A closely tracked personalized melanoma vaccine met its main goal. Its effect on distant spread came in far smaller than an earlier study suggested in a late-stage trial. Moderna (NASDAQ:MRNA | MRNA Price Prediction) stock is down 7% to $185.74 in morning trading, a move that reprices the commercial upside of its flagship cancer program. That decline extends a selloff that started when the results leaked, and it reflects a judgment on how big the benefit is, since the trial cleared its primary hurdle.

Merck (NYSE:MRK) co-develops the vaccine with Moderna and supplies Keytruda, the immunotherapy the shot is paired with in the trial; MRK stock is down 0.2% to $145.61. Meanwhile, BioNTech SE (NASDAQ:BNTX) stock is down 3% to $85.65, a smaller slide for the other messenger RNA (mRNA) developer in the group. Pfizer (NYSE:PFE) stock is down 0.2% to $29.96, essentially holding steady as the diversified drugmaker in the comparison.

Biotech as a group is moving in the opposite direction. The iShares Biotechnology ETF (NASDAQ:IBB) is up 0.2% to $208.21, putting the sector fund on the other side of the slide in Moderna stock. Broader stocks are stronger as well, with the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (NYSEARCA:SPY) up 0.3% to $762.27.

The Leaked Melanoma Data The numbers leaked before a scheduled presentation. Moderna then released detailed late-stage results for intismeran autogene, its personalized melanoma vaccine, on October 22, set for a European oncology conference in Madrid. Combined with Keytruda, the shot met the main goal of reducing return or death risk, but distant metastasis results fell well short of the earlier mid-stage study.

Selling in Moderna stock is continuing this session. The distant-spread miss outweighs the main-goal win the company flagged in August.

Moderna’s Single-Platform Model Takes the Hardest Hit Moderna’s business rests entirely on mRNA medicines, so the cancer vaccine carries an outsized share of its pipeline value, and that concentration helps explain why Moderna stock is sliding while the biotech fund edges higher.

BioNTech, an mRNA developer with its own cancer pipeline, has exposure that spreads well beyond this readout. Its shares are falling by a far smaller margin.

Pfizer’s diversified portfolio protects it from any one cancer vaccine result. Merck, Moderna’s partner on the shot, also has a much larger oncology business anchored by Keytruda.

What the Melanoma Data Means for Moderna Moderna’s next test is whether the full melanoma dataset holds up as the basis for a regulatory filing, since even with a weaker read on distant spread, a trial that met its main goal could still support that submission. Shareholders can watch for the filing plan Moderna lays out around the complete results.

Any recovery in Moderna stock may depend on whether the market comes to see a modest benefit on distant spread as commercially meaningful. BioNTech and Pfizer offer a reference point, since both companies carry pipelines that extend well beyond this one vaccine.

Reviewers at regulatory agencies would see the full dataset only after Moderna and Merck submit it, which keeps the shot’s commercial outlook uncertain for now. Traders may prefer to keep their exposure smaller until the debate over Moderna’s melanoma vaccine data resolves.

Rocket Lab Shed 25% Over 3 Months: 150% Returns Sure to Come According to This Wall Street Pro
RKLB Rocket Lab USA
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Rocket Lab has shed a quarter of its value in months, yet a growing chorus of Wall Street analysts sees a path to returns that would dwarf those losses. The catch involves one unproven rocket and a deadline Rocket Lab…

Rocket Lab (NASDAQ:RKLB | RKLB Price Prediction) trades at $52.60. The consensus price target sits at $102.15, meaning roughly 94.2% upside.

Rocket Lab flies Electron rockets and HASTE hypersonic test vehicles, builds spacecraft, and is developing Neutron, a reusable medium-lift rocket. Wall Street has followed the company closely because of its record backlog of $2.36 billion, which grew 137% year over year. Other attractions include an $816M Space Development Agency contract and the pending Iridium Communications (NASDAQ:IRDM) acquisition, which Iridium stockholders have approved.

The high end of Wall Street goes further. Trevor Walsh at Citizens JMP previously held a Street-high target near $130.00. From today’s price, that target works out to about 147% upside.

Neutron Slips to 2027 and Drags the Stock Down The main reason for the selloff was a delay. Rocket Lab said Neutron’s first launch had slipped to 2027 after it had been targeted for the fourth quarter. The stock fell as much as 14% during that session and closed down 6.6%. Chief executive Peter Beck blamed manufacturing issues in the first stage’s forward propellant dome. He added, “Possible success isn’t our standard.”

Selling continued after that. Shares dropped almost 8% in a single session to $50.84 during a multi-day losing streak. The stock is down 25.19% over the past month and 21.42% over three months. With a beta of 2.938, swings this large are normal for Rocket Lab.

Earnings revisions point the same way. Second-quarter GAAP EPS of -$0.08 missed the -$0.0767 consensus. Over the past 90 days, the 2027 EPS consensus fell from -$0.0273 to -$0.0912. Dilution also weighs on the shares: the company raised $1.53B through at-the-market sales in the first half.

16 of 20 Analysts Still Rate It a Buy Of the 20 analysts covering Rocket Lab, four give a Strong Buy rating, 12 rate it Buy and four rate it Hold. Nobody rates it Sell. Gregory Pendy at Clear Street currently maintains a target of up to $129.00, representing approximately 145% upside.

Three factors drive the optimistic view. First, Neutron becomes the main commercial alternative to SpaceX’s Falcon 9. Second, Space Systems grows its higher-margin business. Third, Rocket Lab shows it can win and deliver as a defense prime contractor. Early evidence supports this. Non-GAAP gross margin rose to 41.5% from 36.9%, and the adjusted EBITDA loss narrowed to $8.8M from $27.6M.

Analysts watching for near-term catalysts will look first at third-quarter revenue guidance of $250M to $265M and more than $1B in contracts already signed. Consensus revenue rises from $959.2 million this year to $1.33 billion next year. Defense spending helps too. The FY 2027 Space Force request is $71.2 billion, Golden Dome is budgeted at $17.9 billion, and Rocket Lab is listed as a prime contractor for national security launch. Price targets are opinions with no guarantee attached. Several were probably set before the Neutron delay.

Space Stocks Are Falling Together, and Planet Labs Shows the Most Upside Rocket Lab’s closest peers dropped just as hard.

AST SpaceMobile (NASDAQ:ASTS) trades at $39.79, down 35.63% in a month. Its target of $74.68 meaning 87.7% upside, a bit less than Rocket Lab’s. Analysts are split: seven of 14 rate it Hold and two rate it a Sell.

Planet Labs (NYSE:PL) trades at $13.41, down 23.06% in a month. Its target of $30.27 meaning 125.7% upside. Seven of its 11 analysts rate it a Buy or Strong Buy, and none rate it Sell.

Planet Labs has the most consensus upside of the three. Rocket Lab sits in the middle on upside but has the strongest Buy consensus.

Down 24.6% While the S&P 500 Is Up 11.45% At $52.60, Rocket Lab has 94.2% implied upside to the $102.15 consensus of 20 analysts. Year to date, the stock is down 24.6%, while the S&P 500 is up 11.45%.

Shares trade well below their 200-day moving average at $80.59 and far below the 52-week high of $151. The price-to-sales ratio still sits at 43.73 after the decline.

Neutron Will Decide Whether the 147% Call Pays Off I’d find Rocket Lab compelling here if Neutron flies smoothly early in 2027, the backlog turns into revenue on time, and the Iridium deal adds communications revenue without more heavy dilution. If all three happen, analysts in the $130 range have a credible path.

The risk profile worsens sharply if Neutron slips again. Another delay would leave a company that still posts GAAP losses trading at more than 40 times sales, while it integrates acquisitions and keeps selling stock to fund them.

The outlook leans cautiously positive. The defense demand looks real and margins are improving. Still, the 147% call depends on Neutron flying, and Rocket Lab has now pushed back the Neutron timeline. A successful first flight would shrink the risk quickly.

Here's Why Targa Resources, Inc. (TRGP) is a Strong Growth Stock
TRGP Targa Resources
FMP Stock News

It doesn't matter your age or experience: taking full advantage of the stock market and investing with confidence are common goals for all investors. Luckily, Zacks Premium offers several different ways to do both.

Featuring daily updates of the Zacks Rank and Zacks Industry Rank, full access to the Zacks #1 Rank List, Equity Research reports, and Premium stock screens, the research service can help you become a smarter, more self-assured investor.

Zacks Premium includes access to the Zacks Style Scores as well.

What are the Zacks Style Scores? Developed alongside the Zacks Rank, the Zacks Style Scores are a group of complementary indicators that help investors pick stocks with the best chances of beating the market over the next 30 days.

Each stock is assigned a rating of A, B, C, D, or F based on their value, growth, and momentum characteristics. Just like in school, an A is better than a B, a B is better than a C, and so on -- that means the better the score, the better chance the stock will outperform.

The Style Scores are broken down into four categories:

Value ScoreFor value investors, it's all about finding good stocks at good prices, and discovering which companies are trading under their true value before the broader market catches on. The Value Style Score utilizes ratios like P/E, PEG, Price/Sales, Price/Cash Flow, and a host of other multiples to help pick out the most attractive and discounted stocks.

Growth ScoreWhile good value is important, growth investors are more focused on a company's financial strength and health, and its future outlook. The Growth Style Score takes projected and historic earnings, sales, and cash flow into account to uncover stocks that will see long-term, sustainable growth.

Momentum ScoreMomentum trading is all about taking advantage of upward or downward trends in a stock's price or earnings outlook, and these investors live by the saying "the trend is your friend." The Momentum Style Score can pinpoint good times to build a position in a stock, using factors like one-week price change and the monthly percentage change in earnings estimates.

How Style Scores Work with the Zacks Rank The Zacks Rank is a proprietary stock-rating model that harnesses the power of earnings estimate revisions, or changes to a company's earnings expectations, to help investors build a successful portfolio.

#1 (Strong Buy) stocks have produced an unmatched +23.82% average annual return since 1988, which is more than double the S&P 500's performance over the same time frame. However, the Zacks Rank examines a ton of stocks, and there can be more than 200 companies with a Strong Buy rank, and another 600 with a #2 (Buy) rank, on any given day.

With more than 800 top-rated stocks to choose from, it can certainly feel overwhelming to pick the ones that are right for you and your investing journey.

That's where the Style Scores come in.

To maximize your returns, you want to buy stocks with the highest probability of success. This means picking stocks with a Zacks Rank #1 or #2 that also have Style Scores of A or B. If you find yourself looking at stocks with a #3 (Hold) rank, make sure they have Scores of A or B as well to ensure as much upside potential as possible.

The direction of a stock's earnings estimate revisions should always be a key factor when choosing which stocks to buy, since the Scores were created to work together with the Zacks Rank.

Stock to Watch: Targa Resources, Inc. (TRGP - Free Report) Targa Resources Corp. is a premier energy infrastructure company. A leading provider of integrated midstream services in North America, the Houston, TX-based operator primarily derives its revenues from gathering, compressing, treating, processing and selling natural gas. Targa Resources also provides services associated with natural gas liquids (“NGL”), including those to liquefied petroleum gas (“LPG”) exporters - and crude oil.

TRGP is a #3 (Hold) on the Zacks Rank, with a VGM Score of B.

Additionally, the company could be a top pick for growth investors. TRGP has a Growth Style Score of A, forecasting year-over-year earnings growth of 34.5% for the current fiscal year.

For fiscal 2026, three analysts revised their earnings estimate upwards in the last 60 days, and the Zacks Consensus Estimate has increased $0.22 to $11.42 per share. TRGP boasts an average earnings surprise of +3.9%.

With a solid Zacks Rank and top-tier Growth and VGM Style Scores, TRGP should be on investors' short list.

Why Investors Need to Take Advantage of These 2 Aerospace Stocks Now
WWD Woodward
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Earnings are arguably the most important single number on a company's quarterly financial report. Wall Street clearly dives into all of the other metrics and management's input, but the EPS figure helps cut through all the noise.

We know earnings results are vital, but how a company performs compared to bottom line expectations can be even more important when it comes to stock prices, especially in the near-term. This means that investors might want to take advantage of these earnings surprises.

The ability to identify stocks that are likely to top quarterly earnings expectations can be profitable, but it's no simple task. Here at Zacks, our Earnings ESP filter helps make things easier.

The Zacks Earnings ESP, ExplainedThe Zacks Earnings ESP, or Expected Surprise Prediction, aims to find earnings surprises by focusing on the most recent analyst revisions. The basic premise is that if an analyst reevaluates their earnings estimate ahead of an earnings release, it means they likely have new information that could possibly be more accurate.

With this in mind, the Expected Surprise Prediction compares the Most Accurate Estimate (being the most recent) against the overall Zacks Consensus Estimate. The percentage difference provides the ESP figure. The system also utilizes our core Zacks Rank to provide a stronger system for identifying stocks that might beat their next quarterly earnings estimate and possibly see the stock price climb.

Bringing together a positive earnings ESP alongside a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold) or better has helped stocks report a positive earnings surprise 70% of the time. Furthermore, by using these parameters, investors have seen 28.3% annual returns on average, according to our 10 year backtest.

Stocks with a #3 (Hold) ranking, which is most stocks covered at 60%, are expected to perform in-line with the broader market. But stocks that fall into the #2 (Buy) and #1 (Strong Buy) ranking, or the top 15% and top 5% of stocks, respectively, should outperform the market. Strong Buy stocks should outperform more than any other rank.

Should You Consider Woodward? The last thing we will do today, now that we have a grasp on the ESP and how powerful of a tool it can be, is to quickly look at a qualifying stock. Woodward (WWD - Free Report) holds a #2 (Buy) at the moment and its Most Accurate Estimate comes in at $2.52 a share 28 days away from its upcoming earnings release on November 23, 2026.

By taking the percentage difference between the $2.52 Most Accurate Estimate and the $2.5 Zacks Consensus Estimate, Woodward has an Earnings ESP of +0.87%. Investors should also know that WWD is one of a large group of stocks with positive ESPs. Make sure to utilize our Earnings ESP Filter to uncover the best stocks to buy or sell before they've reported.

WWD is one of just a large database of Aerospace stocks with positive ESPs. Another solid-looking stock is General Dynamics (GD - Free Report) .

Slated to report earnings on October 30, 2026, General Dynamics holds a #3 (Hold) ranking on the Zacks Rank, and its Most Accurate Estimate is $4.18 a share four days from its next quarterly update.

For General Dynamics, the percentage difference between its Most Accurate Estimate and its Zacks Consensus Estimate of $4.14 is +0.77%.

WWD and GD's positive ESP figures tell us that both stocks have a good chance at beating analyst expectations in their next earnings report.

Find Stocks to Buy or Sell Before They're ReportedUse the Zacks Earnings ESP Filter to turn up stocks with the highest probability of positively, or negatively, surprising to buy or sell before they're reported for profitable earnings season trading. Check it out here >>

Are Investors Undervaluing Zions Bancorporation (ZION) Right Now?
ZION Zions Bancorporation
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Here at Zacks, our focus is on the proven Zacks Rank system, which emphasizes earnings estimates and estimate revisions to find great stocks. Nevertheless, we are always paying attention to the latest value, growth, and momentum trends to underscore strong picks.

Considering these trends, value investing is clearly one of the most preferred ways to find strong stocks in any type of market. Value investors rely on traditional forms of analysis on key valuation metrics to find stocks that they believe are undervalued, leaving room for profits.

Zacks has developed the innovative Style Scores system to highlight stocks with specific traits. For example, value investors will be interested in stocks with great grades in the "Value" category. When paired with a high Zacks Rank, "A" grades in the Value category are among the strongest value stocks on the market today.

One company to watch right now is Zions Bancorporation (ZION - Free Report) . ZION is currently holding a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy) and a Value grade of A.

Another valuation metric that we should highlight is ZION's P/B ratio of 1.33. The P/B ratio pits a stock's market value against its book value, which is defined as total assets minus total liabilities. ZION's current P/B looks attractive when compared to its industry's average P/B of 1.36. Over the past 12 months, ZION's P/B has been as high as 1.53 and as low as 0.98, with a median of 1.25.

Value investors also love the P/S ratio, which is calculated by simply dividing a stock's price with the company's sales. This is a popular metric because sales are harder to manipulate on an income statement, so they are often considered a better performance indicator. ZION has a P/S ratio of 1.98. This compares to its industry's average P/S of 2.48.

Finally, investors should note that ZION has a P/CF ratio of 8.97. This metric focuses on a firm's operating cash flow and is often used to find stocks that are undervalued based on the strength of their cash outlook. This stock's P/CF looks attractive against its industry's average P/CF of 10.50. ZION's P/CF has been as high as 11.06 and as low as 6.62, with a median of 8.64, all within the past year.

These are only a few of the key metrics included in Zions Bancorporation's strong Value grade, but they help show that the stock is likely undervalued right now. When factoring in the strength of its earnings outlook, ZION looks like an impressive value stock at the moment.

Is the Options Market Predicting a Spike in WW International Stock?
WW Weight Watchers International
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Investors in WW International, Inc. (WW - Free Report) need to pay close attention to the stock based on moves in the options market lately. That is because the Nov 20, 2026 $5 Put had some of the highest implied volatility of all equity options today.

What is Implied Volatility?Implied volatility shows how much movement the market is expecting in the future. Options with high levels of implied volatility suggest that investors in the underlying stocks are expecting a big move in one direction or the other. It could also mean there is an event coming up soon that may cause a big rally or a huge sell-off. However, implied volatility is only one piece of the puzzle when putting together an options trading strategy.

What do the Analysts Think?Clearly, options traders are pricing in a big move for WW International shares, but what is the fundamental picture for the company? Currently, WW International is a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold) in the Consumer Products – Discretionary industry that ranks in the Bottom 28% of our Zacks Industry Rank. Over the last 60 days, one analyst has increased the earnings estimate for the current quarter, while two analysts have revised their estimates downward. The net effect has taken our Zacks Consensus Estimate for the current quarter from $1.35 per share to 81 cents in that period.

Given the way analysts feel about WW International right now, this huge implied volatility could mean there’s a trade developing. Oftentimes, options traders look for options with high levels of implied volatility to sell premium. This is a strategy many seasoned traders use because it captures decay. At expiration, the hope for these traders is that the underlying stock does not move as much as originally expected.

EQT Is Building a $50 Billion Natural Gas Giant as AI Power Demand Surges
EQT EQT
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Everyone knows AI runs on chips. Far fewer people ask what runs these power-hungry data centers. According to a Rabobank estimate, U.S. power demand could surge 20% by 2030, a rapid acceleration from its meager 0.5% annual growth rate in recent years. EQT (EQT -3.33%) is making a massive bet that natural gas will play a major role in fueling this power surge.

It's driving the company to acquire Range Resources (RRC +15.66%) in a deal that will create a $50 billion natural gas giant. Here's a look at the deal and what it means for the leading natural gas stock.

Creating America's natural gas championEQT is acquiring Range Resources in an all-stock deal that will create a $50 billion company by enterprise value. Existing EQT shareholders will own 73% of the combined company, while Range Resources holders will own the other 27%. The companies expect the deal to close in the first quarter of 2027.

The combined company will have truly unmatched size and scale. It will become the largest U.S. gas producer at more than 9 billion cubic feet equivalent per day (Bcfe/d), with 88% of its production being natural gas. It will have a peer-leading cost of supply, with an unlevered free cash flow breakeven below $2 per MMBtu. EQT will boast a massive resource base (2.8 million net acres with more than three decades of remaining drilling locations at the current pace) backed by vertically integrated midstream assets (over 3,700 miles of pipelines). Finally, it will have a fortress balance sheet with BBB-rated credit and a low leverage ratio.

$53.78-$1.85 (-3.33%)

NYSE · As of 10:34 AM ET 10/26/26

Fueling the AI power boomIn the press release announcing the combination, EQT's CEO, Toby Rice, highlighted that "our expanded resource base solidifies EQT as the operator of choice for premium, long-term supply arrangements and provides unique growth optionality underpinned by contractual demand." This strategy differentiates EQT from other natural gas producers. Instead of selling all its gas at market prices, the company is starting to strategically lock up long-term supply agreements to power the country's AI boom.

For example, in the company's second-quarter earnings press release in July, EQT highlighted its most recent premium power supply deal. The company signed a 10-year agreement with Competitive Power Ventures to supply 325,000 dekatherms of natural gas per day to the CPV Shay Energy Center in West Virginia. The company noted that the deal links pricing to PJM power prices (the country's largest power grid operator), enabling it to sell its gas at much higher prices than in-basin market prices. That's one of several deals it has signed to supply gas to directly support growing power demand, largely driven by AI data centers.

Acquiring Range Resources will put EQT in an even stronger position to capture future supply deals. It will have an expanded resource base and even lower supply costs, giving it an even stronger strategic position to capitalize on the AI-driven boom in gas demand.

However, it also makes the company even more susceptible to a potential AI power bust. Companies are pouring billions of dollars into developing AI infrastructure in the hopes this technology will drive meaningful productivity gains. However, surging costs, ballooning debt levels, and growing local opposition could slow growth, impacting future gas demand. That could affect EQT's ability to create shareholder value from this deal.

Getting bigger and betterEQT is acquiring Range Resources in a transformational deal. It will create the country's largest gas producer at a time when AI data centers are fueling surging demand. It strengthens the company's ability to capitalize on new growth drivers, such as gas supply contracts for AI data centers and supporting power plants. That enhances the long-term investment thesis for EQT.

Investors Are Avoiding This Industry Like the Plague. Berkshire Is Going All In.
BRK-B Berkshire Hathaway (B)
FMP Stock News
Original source text
The ailing U.S. housing industry just got even more bad news, if that can be believed.

Pending home sales fell 7.3% in September from the previous month, according to the National Association of Realtors. The year-over-year decline was 11.3%. No region of the U.S was spared the carnage: the West had the largest decrease, followed by the South, the Midwest, and the Northeast.

So, you can't blame investors for avoiding homebuilder stocks. The State Street SPDR S&P Homebuilders ETF (XHB +0.06%), which tracks the S&P Select Industry Index, is down 10% over the past year. Some builders have fared much worse: Lennar (LEN +0.42%) has plummeted about 36% over that period.

LEN Lennar$85.28+$0.36 (+0.42%)

NYSE · As of 10:30 AM ET 10/26/26

Yet Berkshire Hathaway (BRKB +0.27%) is making large investments in the housing industry, including a significant acquisition and additional investments in Lennar -- a September stock purchase increased its stake in the company to 11%.

I think Berkshire's recent moves into the housing industry mean investors should take another look, but only if they're prepared to weather significant volatility and wait patiently for housing to recover. In fact, there may be a smart way to play the eventual housing recovery.

So, what's ailing the housing industry? A lot, to say the least.

The industry has been struggling for years due to a massive shortage of housing supply and, more recently, soaring mortgage rates that have made home purchases impossible for many Americans. The average 30-year mortgage rate has climbed to almost 7.4% this year, more than one percentage point higher than at the beginning of 2026 and well more than double what the rate was five years ago.

The housing gap could be a huge opportunity The White House puts the housing gap -- the difference between the supply of and demand for available homes -- at 10 million houses.

I think Berkshire CEO Greg Abel sees that housing gap as a massive opportunity. So he's investing in homebuilders now when they're cheap. That includes a $53.9 million purchase of Lennar shares in September, taking its stake in the homebuilder to $2.2 billion, and the July acquisition of homebuilder Taylor Morrison for $6.8 billion. Berkshire says it will integrate Taylor's portfolio of housing brands with its own Clayton Properties Group, a collection of 15 regional builders, and the combined entity will make it the fourth-largest homebuilding operation in the U.S.

So, should ordinary investors be following Berkshire's lead into this beaten-down industry? Well, it's worth listening to what Abel recently said on CNBC: "We don't envision a quick recovery [in housing], but we do see it as an industry that we definitely want to be invested in, and we're invested in for the long-term."

Clearly, Berkshire has the patience and massive resources to wait for housing's recovery. And its recent purchases mean it will be locked and loaded with abundant homebuilding capacity when that happens.

BRKB Berkshire Hathaway$543.63+$1.44 (+0.27%)

NYSE · As of 10:30 AM ET 10/26/26

But with interest rates poised to rise as the Federal Reserve tightens financial conditions in response to elevated inflation, and bond yields -- which determine mortgage rates -- set to remain high as governments and AI infrastructure builders compete for capital, waiting for housing to recover could be a long and bumpy ride, to say the least.

I would suggest that investors interested in playing the long game on housing leave it to the experts: buy shares of Berkshire and profit from their patience and resources.

Is UMB Financial (UMBF) Stock Undervalued Right Now?
UMBF UMB Financial Corporation
FMP Stock News

The proven Zacks Rank system focuses on earnings estimates and estimate revisions to find winning stocks. Nevertheless, we know that our readers all have their own perspectives, so we are always looking at the latest trends in value, growth, and momentum to find strong picks.

Looking at the history of these trends, perhaps none is more beloved than value investing. This strategy simply looks to identify companies that are being undervalued by the broader market. Value investors rely on traditional forms of analysis on key valuation metrics to find stocks that they believe are undervalued, leaving room for profits.

On top of the Zacks Rank, investors can also look at our innovative Style Scores system to find stocks with specific traits. For example, value investors will want to focus on the "Value" category. Stocks with high Zacks Ranks and "A" grades for Value will be some of the highest-quality value stocks on the market today.

One stock to keep an eye on is UMB Financial (UMBF - Free Report) . UMBF is currently sporting a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy) and an A for Value.

Investors should also recognize that UMBF has a P/B ratio of 1.35. Investors use the P/B ratio to look at a stock's market value versus its book value, which is defined as total assets minus total liabilities. This stock's P/B looks solid versus its industry's average P/B of 1.87. Within the past 52 weeks, UMBF's P/B has been as high as 1.76 and as low as 0.99, with a median of 1.41.

Finally, investors should note that UMBF has a P/CF ratio of 15.76. This figure highlights a company's operating cash flow and can be used to find firms that are undervalued when considering their impressive cash outlook. UMBF's P/CF compares to its industry's average P/CF of 18.45. Within the past 12 months, UMBF's P/CF has been as high as 16.15 and as low as 8.94, with a median of 12.36.

Value investors will likely look at more than just these metrics, but the above data helps show that UMB Financial is likely undervalued currently. And when considering the strength of its earnings outlook, UMBF sticks out as one of the market's strongest value stocks.

Investing in Snap-On (SNA)? Don't Miss Assessing Its International Revenue Trends
SNA Snap-On
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Have you assessed how the international operations of Snap-On (SNA - Free Report) performed in the quarter ended September 2026? For this tool and diagnostic equipment maker, possessing an expansive global footprint, parsing the trends of international revenues could be critical to gauge its financial resilience and growth prospects.

The global economy today is deeply interlinked, making a company's engagement with international markets a critical factor in determining its financial success and growth path. It has become essential for investors to comprehend how much a company relies on these foreign markets, as this understanding reveals the firm's potential for consistent earnings, its capacity to harness different economic cycles, and its overall growth prospects.

Participation in global economies acts as a defense against economic difficulties at home and a pathway to more rapidly developing economies. However, it also comes with the complexities of dealing with fluctuating currencies, geopolitical risks and different market dynamics.

Our review of SNA's last quarterly performance uncovered some notable trends in the revenue contributions from its international markets, which are commonly analyzed and tracked by Wall Street experts.

For the quarter, the company's total revenue amounted to $1.18 billion, experiencing a decline of 0.6% year over year. Next, we'll explore the breakdown of SNA's international revenue to understand the importance of its overseas business operations.

A Closer Look at SNA's Revenue Streams AbroadOf the total revenue, $186.8 million came from Europe during the last fiscal quarter, accounting for 15.8%. This represented a surprise of -7.12% as analysts had expected the region to contribute $201.11 million to the total revenue. In comparison, the region contributed $200.7 million, or 16.3%, and $181.5 million, or 15.2%, to total revenue in the previous and year-ago quarters, respectively.

Other International accounted for 11.5% of the company's total revenue during the quarter, translating to $135.6 million. Revenues from this region represented a surprise of +9.47%, with Wall Street analysts collectively expecting $123.87 million. When compared to the preceding quarter and the same quarter in the previous year, Other International contributed $131 million (10.6%) and $119.6 million (10%) to the total revenue, respectively.

Revenue Projections for Overseas MarketsThe current fiscal quarter's total revenue for Snap-On, as projected by Wall Street analysts, is expected to reach $1.26 billion, reflecting an increase of 2.6% from the same quarter last year. The breakdown of this revenue by foreign region is as follows: Europe is anticipated to contribute 16.7% or $211.2 million, and Other International 10.1% or $128.03 million.

For the full year, the company is expected to generate $4.92 billion in total revenue, up 3.7% from the previous year. Revenues from Europe and Other International are expected to constitute 16.8% ($828.21 million), and 10.3% ($505 million) of the total, respectively.

Key TakeawaysRelying on global markets for revenues presents both prospects and challenges for Snap-On. Therefore, scrutinizing its international revenue trends is key to effectively forecasting the company's future outlook.

In an era of growing international ties and escalating geopolitical disputes, financial analysts on Wall Street pay keen attention to these developments to fine-tune their earnings estimations for businesses operating across borders. It's important to note, however, that a range of additional variables, like a company's local market status, also play a crucial role in shaping these forecasts.

Emphasizing a company's shifting earnings prospects is a key aspect of our approach at Zacks, especially since research has proven its substantial influence on a stock's price in the short run. This correlation is positively aligned, meaning that improved earnings projections tend to boost the stock's price.

With an impressive externally audited track record, our proprietary stock rating tool - the Zacks Rank - harnesses the power of earnings estimate revisions and serves as an effective indicator of a stock's near-term price performance.

Snap-On currently has a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold), indicating that it could perform in line with the broader market in the near term. You can see the complete list of today's Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy) stocks here >>>> .

Assessing Snap-On's Stock Price Movement in Recent TimesOver the past month, the stock has seen a decline of 3.3% in its value, whereas the Zacks S&P 500 composite has posted a decrease of 1.2%. In the past three months, there's been a decline of 13% in the company's stock price, against a rise of 2.5% in the S&P 500 index. The broader sector has increased by 2.8% during this interval.

SM Energy Company (SM) is Attracting Investor Attention: Here is What You Should Know
SM SM Energy
FMP Stock News
Original source text
SM Energy (SM - Free Report) has been one of the most searched-for stocks on Zacks.com lately. So, you might want to look at some of the facts that could shape the stock's performance in the near term.

Over the past month, shares of this independent oil and gas company have returned +18.3%, compared to the Zacks S&P 500 composite's -1.2% change. During this period, the Zacks Oil and Gas - Exploration and Production - United States industry, which SM Energy falls in, has gained 8.2%. The key question now is: What could be the stock's future direction?

Although media reports or rumors about a significant change in a company's business prospects usually cause its stock to trend and lead to an immediate price change, there are always certain fundamental factors that ultimately drive the buy-and-hold decision.

Earnings Estimate RevisionsRather than focusing on anything else, we at Zacks prioritize evaluating the change in a company's earnings projection. This is because we believe the fair value for its stock is determined by the present value of its future stream of earnings.

Our analysis is essentially based on how sell-side analysts covering the stock are revising their earnings estimates to take the latest business trends into account. When earnings estimates for a company go up, the fair value for its stock goes up as well. And when a stock's fair value is higher than its current market price, investors tend to buy the stock, resulting in its price moving upward. Because of this, empirical studies indicate a strong correlation between trends in earnings estimate revisions and short-term stock price movements.

SM Energy is expected to post earnings of $2.03 per share for the current quarter, representing a year-over-year change of +52.6%. Over the last 30 days, the Zacks Consensus Estimate has changed +20.3%.

For the current fiscal year, the consensus earnings estimate of $8.15 points to a change of +50.4% from the prior year. Over the last 30 days, this estimate has changed +8.9%.

For the next fiscal year, the consensus earnings estimate of $9.45 indicates a change of +15.9% from what SM Energy is expected to report a year ago. Over the past month, the estimate has changed +14.8%.

With an impressive externally audited track record, our proprietary stock rating tool -- the Zacks Rank -- is a more conclusive indicator of a stock's near-term price performance, as it effectively harnesses the power of earnings estimate revisions. The size of the recent change in the consensus estimate, along with three other factors related to earnings estimates, has resulted in a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy) for SM Energy.

The chart below shows the evolution of the company's forward 12-month consensus EPS estimate:

12 Month EPS

Projected Revenue GrowthEven though a company's earnings growth is arguably the best indicator of its financial health, nothing much happens if it cannot raise its revenues. It's almost impossible for a company to grow its earnings without growing its revenue for long periods. Therefore, knowing a company's potential revenue growth is crucial.

In the case of SM Energy, the consensus sales estimate of $1.97 billion for the current quarter points to a year-over-year change of +142.6%. The $7.6 billion and $8.05 billion estimates for the current and next fiscal years indicate changes of +141.1% and +5.9%, respectively.

Last Reported Results and Surprise HistorySM Energy reported revenues of $2.5 billion in the last reported quarter, representing a year-over-year change of +215.3%. EPS of $2.19 for the same period compares with $1.5 a year ago.

Compared to the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $2.01 billion, the reported revenues represent a surprise of +24.54%. The EPS surprise was +13.47%.

The company beat consensus EPS estimates in each of the trailing four quarters. The company topped consensus revenue estimates two times over this period.

ValuationNo investment decision can be efficient without considering a stock's valuation. Whether a stock's current price rightly reflects the intrinsic value of the underlying business and the company's growth prospects is an essential determinant of its future price performance.

Comparing the current value of a company's valuation multiples, such as its price-to-earnings (P/E), price-to-sales (P/S), and price-to-cash flow (P/CF), to its own historical values helps ascertain whether its stock is fairly valued, overvalued, or undervalued, whereas comparing the company relative to its peers on these parameters gives a good sense of how reasonable its stock price is.

As part of the Zacks Style Scores system, the Zacks Value Style Score (which evaluates both traditional and unconventional valuation metrics) organizes stocks into five groups ranging from A to F (A is better than B; B is better than C; and so on), making it helpful in identifying whether a stock is overvalued, rightly valued, or temporarily undervalued.

SM Energy is graded A on this front, indicating that it is trading at a discount to its peers. Click here to see the values of some of the valuation metrics that have driven this grade.

Bottom LineThe facts discussed here and much other information on Zacks.com might help determine whether or not it's worthwhile paying attention to the market buzz about SM Energy. However, its Zacks Rank #2 does suggest that it may outperform the broader market in the near term.

Prior to a company's earnings release, it is of utmost importance to factor in any revisions made to the earnings projections. Empirical studies consistently reveal a strong link between trends in earnings estimate revisions and the short-term price performance of a stock.

This stock's P/B looks attractive against its industry's average P/B of 2.75. Within the past 52 weeks, CNO's P/B has been as high as 1.75 and as low as 1.31, with a median of 1.50.

Value investors also use the P/S ratio. The P/S ratio is calculated as price divided by sales. This is a popular metric because sales are harder to manipulate on an income statement, so they are often considered a better performance indicator. CNO has a P/S ratio of 1.07. This compares to its industry's average P/S of 1.1.

These are just a handful of the figures considered in CNO Financial Group's great Value grade. Still, they help show that the stock is likely being undervalued at the moment. Add this to the strength of its earnings outlook, and we can clearly see that CNO is an impressive value stock right now.

A single device designed to replace months to years of repeat injections, with potential applications well beyond its lead contraception program

VP of Product Development Liz Proos presents Friday, October 30, at 2:30 p.m. ET in Boston

SAN DIEGO, Oct. 26, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Daré Bioscience, Inc. (NASDAQ: DARE), a purpose-driven health biotech company solely focused on closing the gap in women's health between promising science and real-world solutions, today announced that Liz Proos, Vice President of Product Development of Daré Bioscience, will present on the Company’s Intelligent Drug Delivery System (DARE-IDDS) at the 16th annual Partnership Opportunities in Drug Delivery (PODD) conference, one of the leading drug delivery industry conferences, taking place October 29–30, 2026 in Boston, MA.

Ms. Proos will present “Expanding Chronic Therapy Adherence with a Single Programmable Device” on Friday, October 30, from 2:30 to 2:50 p.m. ET. The presentation will highlight the potential of DARE-IDDS to address challenges associated with long-term and chronic injection-based therapies by combining programmable drug delivery, wireless communication and dosing flexibility within a single subcutaneously implanted device.

Millions of patients on chronic therapies depend on repeated injections, frequent clinic visits and the discipline to stay on schedule. When patients miss doses, the benefits of even highly effective medicines can be lost. DARE-IDDS is designed to take that burden off the patient.

DARE-IDDS is a single device, implantable under the skin, that is designed to:

Store and deliver more than 100 discrete doses over periods ranging from months to yearsProgram each dose electronically, using independent drug reservoirs and electronic dose controlConnect wirelessly, with the potential to let patients and healthcare providers monitor and adjust treatment remotelyReduce treatment burden, potentially cutting the need for repeated injections, frequent clinic visits and ongoing medication management By combining extended drug storage with programmable delivery and patient control, DARE-IDDS is being developed to support a range of potential therapeutic applications. The technology is initially being targeted for contraception through Daré Bioscience’s DARE-LARC1 program, which is being developed with the goal of providing a long-acting, reversible contraceptive option designed to give women greater flexibility in managing their reproductive journey. Because DARE-IDDS is a platform, Daré Bioscience believes it may also have applications across other therapeutic areas where adherence, treatment burden and reliable dosing are significant issues, and where future development and commercial partners may see value.

“DARE-IDDS represents an opportunity to rethink how medications are delivered over the long term, particularly in therapeutic areas where adherence and treatment burden can limit the benefits of available therapies,” said Ms. Proos. “By bringing together programmable dosing, wireless connectivity and patient control in a single implantable device platform, we are working to advance a more flexible approach to drug delivery that has the potential to benefit patients, healthcare providers and future development and commercial partners.”

Daré Bioscience has collaborated with Cambridge Consultants, a global product development and technology consultancy, to advance the DARE-IDDS platform, combining drug delivery expertise with capabilities in implantable electronics, connectivity and device engineering. The collaboration reflects Daré Bioscience’s focus on advancing differentiated technology designed to address unmet needs and create new possibilities for patient-centered care.

DARE-IDDS is an investigational device in preclinical development. It has not been approved or cleared for clinical investigation in humans or for any use in humans. The DARE-IDDS features described in this press release are based on the results of technological proof-of-concept studies.

Advanced metering infrastructure project designed to strengthen day-to-day water utility operations and support sustained growth for the City of Mustang and its residents

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. & MUSTANG, Okla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Ameresco, Inc., (NYSE: AMRC), a leading energy infrastructure company delivering integrated solutions to create reliable power and modernize infrastructure, today announced the completion of an Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) water meter project for the City of Mustang, Oklahoma. The $5.9M project replaced more than 8,000 water meters, modernizing the City’s metering system and supporting the long-term success of its water utility operations.

Ameresco completed a $5.9M AMI project in Mustang, Oklahoma, modernizing water metering ahead of schedule to strengthen operations and support long-term growth

Share Ameresco worked closely with City staff from initial planning through final installation, beginning with an Investment Grade Audit that evaluated the existing metering system and assessed technology and implementation options. The evaluation gave the City a comprehensive view of project viability, costs, and long-term considerations, which supported informed decision-making aligned with the needs of the community.

Ameresco then managed installation and stakeholder coordination, completing construction in five months—half the original 10-month schedule. The City transitioned to its new AMI system with minimal disruption to residents and water utility operations.

“One of the things we appreciated most about working with Ameresco was that their involvement went beyond simply providing equipment or managing an installation,” said David Russell, Director of Public Works for the City of Mustang. “They served as a partner throughout the process, from evaluating our existing system and helping us determine whether the investment made sense, to selecting the appropriate approach, managing implementation, and helping City staff transition to the new system.”

Through a collaborative, data-driven approach, the project delivered key benefits for the City and its residents, including:

Automated, remote meter reading across the City’s water system Detailed, timely usage data that helps City staff identify unusual consumption and investigate potential leaks Streamlined billing, account research, and customer service processes Continued customer service and billing coordination throughout the citywide meter replacement A customer portal that gives residents direct access to their water consumption information “The City of Mustang’s collaboration with Ameresco is a direct reflection of how thoughtful planning and modern infrastructure create lasting value for a community,” said Louis Maltezos, Co-President of Ameresco. “Together, the City and Ameresco have strengthened the reliability of Mustang’s water system and established the operational insight required to meet the demands of growth with confidence.”

Charger Logistics and Aurora to Begin Scaling Autonomous Fleet to 500 Trucks

Charger initiates plans to own and operate hundreds of driverless trucks on routes across the country, months after its initial Aurora contract

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aurora Innovation, Inc. (NASDAQ: AUR), the leader in self-driving freight, today announced a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Charger Logistics under which Charger intends to purchase up to 500 Aurora Driver-powered trucks. The agreement builds upon Charger’s existing contract signed in July, underscoring the carrier’s belief that the Aurora Driver will be critical to expanding its network and strengthening its business.

"With the launch of our second-generation hardware and trucks, Aurora is ready to support our customers' ambitions to grow their networks and move more frieght with driverless trucks," said Zac Andreoni, Vice President of Business Development at Aurora.

Share “Since launching autonomous operations along the Laredo corridor, we’ve realized immediate operational benefits that point to a clear path to scaling,” said Andy Khera, President of Charger Logistics. “Aurora’s plans to open long-haul, high-volume routes position us to scale geographically while we integrate autonomy from our TMS to the road, building a resilient and autonomous ecosystem for our customers."

“Andy and the team have decades of experience leveraging technology to move large volumes of freight across the continent, which makes owning driverless trucks a natural next step,” said Zac Andreoni, Vice President of Business Development at Aurora. “Owning the physical asset is the logical choice for our customers: it makes today’s operations more efficient and enables carriers to grow their business, keeping them competitive.”

Path to Owning 500 Driverless Trucks

Charger Logistics operates across the U.S. and Mexico, moving goods for the food and beverage, pharmaceutical, automotive, and retail industries. Under the non-binding MOU, the carrier would purchase 500 Aurora Driver-powered trucks with delivery taking place over 2027 and 2028. Charger plans to deploy the trucks on current and new high-volume routes near the border and throughout the country.

Upon the final agreement, Charger intends to subscribe to Aurora’s Driver as a Service (DaaS) model, where ownership over the physical asset allows them to maximize Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) savings. In parallel, Aurora benefits from an expected high-margin, capital-efficient, and asset-light business. DaaS agreements are a critical component to Aurora’s plan to scale to 30,000 driverless trucks in 2030. Additional Aurora customers are pursuing DaaS contracts to own and operate their own fleets of driverless trucks, demonstrating both the demand for autonomous trucks at scale and the confidence customers have in Aurora to deliver.

“With the launch of our second-generation hardware and trucks, Aurora is ready to support our customers' ambitions to grow their networks and move more freight with driverless trucks,” added Andreoni.

Griffon: Solid Dividend Growth, But Overvalued With Soft End Markets
GFF Griffon Corporation
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Griffon is a niche North American building products firm focused on garage doors and ceiling fans after a recent strategic refocus. I rate GFF a 'sell' due to overvaluation, cyclical end-market weakness, declining earnings expectations, and a low credit rating despite strong dividend growth. GFF's dividend safety is acceptable with a 14-year growth streak and low payout ratio, but leverage, declining FCF, and non-investment grade credit remain concerns.
