AMD to invest up to $5 billion in Anthropic as part of computing power deal
AMD AMD
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Advanced Micro Devices on Wednesday announced a strategic partnership with Anthropic and said it will invest up to $5 billion in the artificial intelligence company "in the future."

As part of the deal, the chipmaker said Anthropic will deploy 2 gigawatts of its AMD Instinct MI450 Series graphics processing units, or GPUs, in AMD Helios rack-scale solutions. The first gigawatt, a measure of power that's become a common metric for describing AI data center capacity, will be deployed in the first half of next year, according to a release.

"We are thrilled to deepen our partnership with Anthropic and deploy AMD Helios at gigawatt scale," AMD CEO Lisa Su said in a statement.

AMD has been one of the major beneficiaries of the AI boom because it's one of the companies that makes the GPUs that can train models and run large workloads. It competes directly with Nvidia, which dominates the market, but it has inked deals with a number of high-profile players in the industry, including Anthropic's rival OpenAI.

As part of that arrangement, AMD issued OpenAI a warrant for up to 160 million shares of AMD common stock, equivalent to roughly 10% of the company, with vesting milestones tied to both deployment volume and AMD's share price.

The company said in April that demand for its Claude models and products has caused "inevitable strain" on its infrastructure, which impacted "reliability and performance" for its users, especially during peak hours.

In May, Anthropic forged a deal with Elon Musk's SpaceX to use all of the compute capacity at his company's Colossus 1 data center in Memphis, Tennessee. Anthropic will pay SpaceX $1.25 billion per month through May 2029 as part of that deal, according to SpaceX's prospectus.

The company inked a multi-billion-dollar agreement with Amazon, as well as a multi-gigawatt compute agreement with Google and Broadcom, in April. Anthropic is also in preliminary talks to lease computing power from Meta, as CNBC previously reported.

Anthropic has experienced explosive growth this year, partly because of the success of its popular AI coding assistant, Claude Code. It said in May that its run-rate revenue topped $47 billion, up from the roughly $10 billion in revenue that it generated over the entirety of last year.

The company closed a funding round at a $965 billion valuation that same month, and is gearing up for a potentially massive IPO that could land as soon as this year. Anthropic confidentially filed its prospectus with the Securities and Exchange Commission in June, but has yet to disclose any additional plans.

Quarterly financial reports play a vital role on Wall Street, as they help investors see how a company has performed and what might be coming down the road in the near-term. And out of all of the metrics and results to consider, earnings is one of the most important.

We know earnings results are vital, but how a company performs compared to bottom line expectations can be even more important when it comes to stock prices, especially in the near-term. This means that investors might want to take advantage of these earnings surprises.

The ability to identify stocks that are likely to top quarterly earnings expectations can be profitable, but it's no simple task. Here at Zacks, our Earnings ESP filter helps make things easier.

The Zacks Earnings ESP, ExplainedThe Zacks Earnings ESP, or Expected Surprise Prediction, aims to find earnings surprises by focusing on the most recent analyst revisions. The basic premise is that if an analyst reevaluates their earnings estimate ahead of an earnings release, it means they likely have new information that could possibly be more accurate.

Now that we understand the basic idea, let's look at how the Expected Surprise Prediction works. The ESP is calculated by comparing the Most Accurate Estimate to the Zacks Consensus Estimate, with the percentage difference between the two giving us the Zacks ESP figure.

In fact, when we combined a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold) or better and a positive Earnings ESP, stocks produced a positive surprise 70% of the time. Perhaps most importantly, using these parameters has helped produce 28.3% annual returns on average, according to our 10 year backtest.

Stocks with a ranking of #3 (Hold), or 60% of all stocks covered by the Zacks Rank, are expected to perform in-line with the broader market. Stocks with rankings of #2 (Buy) and #1 (Strong Buy), or the top 15% and top 5% of stocks, respectively, should outperform the market; Strong Buy stocks should outperform more than any other rank.

Should You Consider Advanced Micro Devices? Now that we understand what the ESP is and how beneficial it can be, let's dive into a stock that currently fits the bill. Advanced Micro Devices (AMD - Free Report) earns a #2 (Buy) right now and its Most Accurate Estimate sits at $1.63 a share, just 13 days from its upcoming earnings release on August 4, 2026.

Advanced Micro Devices' Earnings ESP sits at +1.49%, which, as explained above, is calculated by taking the percentage difference between the $1.63 Most Accurate Estimate and the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.6. AMD is also part of a large group of stocks that boast a positive ESP. Make sure to utilize our Earnings ESP Filter to uncover the best stocks to buy or sell before they've reported.

AMD is part of a big group of Computer and Technology stocks that boast a positive ESP, and investors may want to take a look at Amphenol (APH - Free Report) as well.

Slated to report earnings on July 29, 2026, Amphenol holds a #1 (Strong Buy) ranking on the Zacks Rank, and its Most Accurate Estimate is $1.20 a share seven days from its next quarterly update.

Amphenol's Earnings ESP figure currently stands at +1.12% after taking the percentage difference between its Most Accurate Estimate and its Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.19.

AMD and APH's positive ESP metrics may signal that a positive earnings surprise for both stocks is on the horizon.

Find Stocks to Buy or Sell Before They're ReportedUse the Zacks Earnings ESP Filter to turn up stocks with the highest probability of positively, or negatively, surprising to buy or sell before they're reported for profitable earnings season trading. Check it out here >>

Is Most-Watched Stock Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD) Worth Betting on Now?
AMD AMD
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Advanced Micro Devices (AMD - Free Report) has been one of the most searched-for stocks on Zacks.com lately. So, you might want to look at some of the facts that could shape the stock's performance in the near term.

Shares of this chipmaker have returned +4.7% over the past month versus the Zacks S&P 500 composite's +0.3% change. The Zacks Computer - Integrated Systems industry, to which Advanced Micro belongs, has lost 9.5% over this period. Now the key question is: Where could the stock be headed in the near term?

While media releases or rumors about a substantial change in a company's business prospects usually make its stock 'trending' and lead to an immediate price change, there are always some fundamental facts that eventually dominate the buy-and-hold decision-making.

Revisions to Earnings EstimatesRather than focusing on anything else, we at Zacks prioritize evaluating the change in a company's earnings projection. This is because we believe the fair value for its stock is determined by the present value of its future stream of earnings.

Our analysis is essentially based on how sell-side analysts covering the stock are revising their earnings estimates to take the latest business trends into account. When earnings estimates for a company go up, the fair value for its stock goes up as well. And when a stock's fair value is higher than its current market price, investors tend to buy the stock, resulting in its price moving upward. Because of this, empirical studies indicate a strong correlation between trends in earnings estimate revisions and short-term stock price movements.

Advanced Micro is expected to post earnings of $1.60 per share for the current quarter, representing a year-over-year change of +233.3%. Over the last 30 days, the Zacks Consensus Estimate has changed +0.4%.

The consensus earnings estimate of $7.28 for the current fiscal year indicates a year-over-year change of +74.6%. This estimate has changed +0.8% over the last 30 days.

For the next fiscal year, the consensus earnings estimate of $12.66 indicates a change of +73.9% from what Advanced Micro is expected to report a year ago. Over the past month, the estimate has changed +6.1%.

With an impressive externally audited track record, our proprietary stock rating tool -- the Zacks Rank -- is a more conclusive indicator of a stock's near-term price performance, as it effectively harnesses the power of earnings estimate revisions. The size of the recent change in the consensus estimate, along with three other factors related to earnings estimates, has resulted in a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy) for Advanced Micro.

The chart below shows the evolution of the company's forward 12-month consensus EPS estimate:

12 Month EPS

Revenue Growth ForecastWhile earnings growth is arguably the most superior indicator of a company's financial health, nothing happens as such if a business isn't able to grow its revenues. After all, it's nearly impossible for a company to increase its earnings for an extended period without increasing its revenues. So, it's important to know a company's potential revenue growth.

In the case of Advanced Micro, the consensus sales estimate of $11.31 billion for the current quarter points to a year-over-year change of +47.2%. The $49.27 billion and $73.53 billion estimates for the current and next fiscal years indicate changes of +42.3% and +49.2%, respectively.

Last Reported Results and Surprise HistoryAdvanced Micro reported revenues of $10.25 billion in the last reported quarter, representing a year-over-year change of +37.8%. EPS of $1.37 for the same period compares with $0.96 a year ago.

Compared to the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $9.85 billion, the reported revenues represent a surprise of +4.09%. The EPS surprise was +5.38%.

The company beat consensus EPS estimates in each of the trailing four quarters. The company topped consensus revenue estimates each time over this period.

ValuationNo investment decision can be efficient without considering a stock's valuation. Whether a stock's current price rightly reflects the intrinsic value of the underlying business and the company's growth prospects is an essential determinant of its future price performance.

Comparing the current value of a company's valuation multiples, such as its price-to-earnings (P/E), price-to-sales (P/S), and price-to-cash flow (P/CF), to its own historical values helps ascertain whether its stock is fairly valued, overvalued, or undervalued, whereas comparing the company relative to its peers on these parameters gives a good sense of how reasonable its stock price is.

The Zacks Value Style Score (part of the Zacks Style Scores system), which pays close attention to both traditional and unconventional valuation metrics to grade stocks from A to F (an A is better than a B; a B is better than a C; and so on), is pretty helpful in identifying whether a stock is overvalued, rightly valued, or temporarily undervalued.

Advanced Micro is graded F on this front, indicating that it is trading at a premium to its peers. Click here to see the values of some of the valuation metrics that have driven this grade.

ConclusionThe facts discussed here and much other information on Zacks.com might help determine whether or not it's worthwhile paying attention to the market buzz about Advanced Micro. However, its Zacks Rank #2 does suggest that it may outperform the broader market in the near term.

Boeing Stock Sits Below All Four Key Moving Averages Ahead of Q2 Earnings
BA Boeing
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Boeing Co. (NYSE:BA) shares are in the spotlight, with earnings on deck, a bearish technical setup, and Edge Rankings all drawing attention.

Boeing shares are consolidating. What’s ahead for BA stock? Earnings Preview & HistoryBoeing is scheduled to report second-quarter earnings on July 28. Analysts estimate a loss of 27 cents per share along with revenue of $23.90 billion. For the prior quarter, Boeing reported a loss of 20 cents per share, beating the consensus estimate of a loss of 75 cents per share. The company also posted revenue of $22.22 billion, exceeding the consensus estimate of $21.96 billion.

Over the last four quarters, Boeing has averaged an EPS surprise of 1.65% and a revenue surprise of 0.05%.

What to WatchInvestors will be listening for delivery and production-rate commentary, since the recent order streak only matters if it turns into shipments and cash over the next few quarters. Watch for updates on commercial backlog conversion (orders vs deliveries), free cash flow trajectory (whether higher costs from delays are being contained), and defense program margin pressure — especially any quantified impact from the Air Force One timeline and cost growth.

Boeing Trades Below Every Major Moving AverageFrom a trend perspective, Boeing is still in a repair phase: the stock is trading 5.9% below its 20-day SMA, 7% below its 50-day SMA, 6% below its 100-day SMA, and 5.7% below its 200-day SMA. With price under all of those averages, rallies tend to get tested quickly until the stock can reclaim at least the 20-day/50-day zone.

Momentum is also leaning cautious: MACD is below its signal line and the histogram is negative, which points to upside pressure fading versus the prior upswing. In plain terms, when MACD sits under its signal line, it suggests buyers are losing control unless momentum can turn back up.

The longer-term backdrop is more mixed: Boeing logged a golden cross in June (50-day SMA over the 200-day SMA), but the stock has since slipped back under those longer averages, leaving the cross as a "needs confirmation" signal rather than a clean trend restart. On the map, $232.00 is the key overhead area to watch, while $187.50 is the nearby downside level that matters if sellers regain control.

Key Resistance: $232.00 — a round-number zone that can act as a ceiling on rebounds Key Support: $187.50 — a nearby floor where buyers previously stepped in Benzinga Edge RankingsBelow is the Benzinga Edge scorecard for Boeing, highlighting its strengths and weaknesses compared to the broader market:

Momentum: Weak (Score: 14.42) — The stock’s recent trend signals are soft, lining up with price sitting below key moving averages. Value: Weak (Score: 28.37) — The setup screens as expensive versus typical value factors, which can make the stock more sensitive to execution and guidance. The Verdict: Boeing’s Benzinga Edge signal reveals a weak-tilted profile, with both Momentum and Value scoring in the lower ranges. For longer-term bulls, the chart likely needs to reclaim key moving averages to improve the momentum read, while the valuation backdrop raises the bar for the upcoming earnings report.

Boeing Shares Trade FlatBA Price Action: At the time of publication, Boeing shares are trading 0.54% higher at $205.90, according to data from Benzinga Pro.

The Boeing Company (BA) Is a Trending Stock: Facts to Know Before Betting on It
BA Boeing
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Boeing (BA - Free Report) is one of the stocks most watched by Zacks.com visitors lately. So, it might be a good idea to review some of the factors that might affect the near-term performance of the stock.

Over the past month, shares of this airplane builder have returned -5.5%, compared to the Zacks S&P 500 composite's +0.3% change. During this period, the Zacks Aerospace - Defense industry, which Boeing falls in, has lost 4.8%. The key question now is: What could be the stock's future direction?

While media releases or rumors about a substantial change in a company's business prospects usually make its stock 'trending' and lead to an immediate price change, there are always some fundamental facts that eventually dominate the buy-and-hold decision-making.

Earnings Estimate RevisionsHere at Zacks, we prioritize appraising the change in the projection of a company's future earnings over anything else. That's because we believe the present value of its future stream of earnings is what determines the fair value for its stock.

Because of this, empirical studies indicate a strong correlation between trends in earnings estimate revisions and short-term stock price movements.

For the current quarter, Boeing is expected to post a loss of $0.34 per share, indicating a change of +72.6% from the year-ago quarter. The Zacks Consensus Estimate has changed -457.3% over the last 30 days.

For the current fiscal year, the consensus earnings estimate of -$0.33 points to a change of +96.9% from the prior year. Over the last 30 days, this estimate has changed -113.6%.

For the next fiscal year, the consensus earnings estimate of $3.97 indicates a change of +0% from what Boeing is expected to report a year ago. Over the past month, the estimate has changed -2.3%.

With an impressive externally audited track record, our proprietary stock rating tool -- the Zacks Rank -- is a more conclusive indicator of a stock's near-term price performance, as it effectively harnesses the power of earnings estimate revisions. The size of the recent change in the consensus estimate, along with three other factors related to earnings estimates, has resulted in a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold) for Boeing.

In the case of Boeing, the consensus sales estimate of $24.05 billion for the current quarter points to a year-over-year change of +5.7%. The $96.84 billion and $110.79 billion estimates for the current and next fiscal years indicate changes of +8.2% and +14.4%, respectively.

Last Reported Results and Surprise HistoryBoeing reported revenues of $22.22 billion in the last reported quarter, representing a year-over-year change of +14%. EPS of -$0.2 for the same period compares with -$0.49 a year ago.

Compared to the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $21.46 billion, the reported revenues represent a surprise of +3.53%. The EPS surprise was +78.95%.

ValuationWithout considering a stock's valuation, no investment decision can be efficient. In predicting a stock's future price performance, it's crucial to determine whether its current price correctly reflects the intrinsic value of the underlying business and the company's growth prospects.

Boeing vs. Embraer: Which Aerospace Stock is Ready for Takeoff?
BA Boeing
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Key Takeaways Boeing increased commercial deliveries and defense orders, strengthening revenue growth and backlog.Embraer expanded its backlog as demand rose for E2 jets and defense agreements gained momentum.Earnings growth, valuation, solvency and recent stock performance distinguish the two aerospace stocks. The Boeing Company (BA - Free Report) and Embraer S.A. (EMBJ - Free Report) are leading aircraft manufacturers, serving airlines, governments and defense customers across multiple markets. While Boeing is one of the largest aerospace and defense companies globally, Embraer has established itself as a leading producer of regional and smaller commercial aircraft.

Both companies generate a significant portion of their revenues from commercial aviation, making them beneficiaries of long-term trends such as rising global air travel, airline fleet expansion and the replacement of older aircraft with more fuel-efficient models.

Boeing has a large Defense, Space & Security business as well as a growing Global Services segment that provides maintenance, logistics and aftermarket support. Embraer also operates defense and security businesses, manufacturing military transport aircraft and other defense products, while its services and support division provides maintenance and operational solutions for customers worldwide.

Let us compare the stocks' fundamentals to determine which one is a better investment option at present.

Tailwinds for BA StockThe company benefited from a significant first-mover advantage, having established itself as one of the pioneers of modern commercial aviation. Its extensive product portfolio, particularly the 737 narrow-body family and the 787 Dreamliner wide-body aircraft, helped the company secure a strong position across major airline segments. Boeing Commercial Airplanes segment deliveries grew 10% year over year in the first quarter of 2026, driving a 13% increase in revenues. The company booked 140 net commercial airplane orders.

During the first quarter of 2026, the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) unit booked $9 billion in orders, including contracts to continue E-7 Wedgetail development and additional international demand for KC-46 aircraft, which resulted in a solid backlog addition of $86 billion for the period ending March 2026. Such solid contract wins and subsequent backlog should continue to bolster the BDS unit’s revenues, which registered solid year-over-year growth of 21% in the first quarter of 2026.

Tailwinds for EMBJ StockEmbraer has been witnessing increased demand for its E-jets, particularly with E2 being the second generation of this jet family of commercial aircraft. The company is currently aiming to expand its production capacity of E2 aircraft, with further intentions to launch this aircraft in the markets of Turkey and China over the next few years. Embraer’s firm order backlog reached $32.1 billion in first-quarter 2026, up 22% year over year, led by a 50% increase in Commercial Aviation backlog to $15.0 billion. Management also cited a 3.0x book-to-bill for Commercial Aviation over the last 12 months, and disclosed roughly $20 billion of options across segments that could lift backlog beyond $50 billion as exercised.

Defense & Security revenues increased 63% year over year to $227 million in the first quarter of 2026. Management noted a purchase agreement with the UAE for 10 KC-390 aircraft plus 10 options, with deliveries expected to start in 2028. Embraer also cited a partnership with Northrop Grumman to support the KC-390 in the U.S. NGAS program, which broadens the funnel for export campaigns.

How Does the Zacks Consensus Estimate Compare for BA & EMBJ?The Zacks Consensus Estimate for Boeing’s 2026 and 2027 earnings per share (EPS) indicates an increase of 97.37% and 1,513.9% year over year.

The consensus estimate for Embraer’s 2026 and 2027 EPS indicates an increase of 110.14% and 37.13% year over year.

Valuation for BA & EMBJBoeing shares trade at a forward 12-month Price/Sales (P/S F12M) of 1.54X compared with Embraer’s 1.31X.

BA & EMBJ’s SolvencyThe time-to-interest earned ratio of Boeing and Embraer is 2 and 1.6, respectively. The ratio, being greater than one, reflects the company’s ability to meet future interest obligations without difficulties.

BA & EMBJ’s Price PerformanceIn the past six months, shares of Boeing have lost 18.4%, while those of Embraer have lost 15.7%, compared with the industry’s decline of 11.5%.

BA or EMBJ: Which is a Better Choice Now?Boeing’s long-standing leadership in commercial aviation and broad aircraft portfolio continue to support strong demand, while improving deliveries and new orders reinforce its market position. BA’s defense business is benefiting from robust contract wins and a growing backlog, providing additional support for future revenue growth. Embraer is benefiting from strong demand for its next-generation E2 aircraft, supported by a growing commercial aviation backlog. EMBJ’s defense business is also gaining momentum through new international agreements and strategic partnerships, strengthening long-term growth prospects across both segments.

Our choice at the moment is Boeing, given its strong earnings growth and better solvency than Embraer. Both BA and EMBJ carry a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold) at present. You can see the complete list of today’s Zacks #1 Rank (Strong Buy) stocks here.

Canopy Growth Corporation (CGC - Free Report) has been one of the most searched-for stocks on Zacks.com lately. So, you might want to look at some of the facts that could shape the stock's performance in the near term.

As part of the Zacks Style Scores system, the Zacks Value Style Score (which evaluates both traditional and unconventional valuation metrics) organizes stocks into five groups ranging from A to F (A is better than B; B is better than C; and so on), making it helpful in identifying whether a stock is overvalued, rightly valued, or temporarily undervalued.

Canopy Growth is graded F on this front, indicating that it is trading at a premium to its peers. Click here to see the values of some of the valuation metrics that have driven this grade.

Bottom LineThe facts discussed here and much other information on Zacks.com might help determine whether or not it's worthwhile paying attention to the market buzz about Canopy Growth. However, its Zacks Rank #3 does suggest that it may perform in line with the broader market in the near term.

Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (BRK.B) Is a Trending Stock: Facts to Know Before Betting on It
BRK-A Berkshire Hathaway
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Berkshire Hathaway B (BRK.B - Free Report) has recently been on Zacks.com's list of the most searched stocks. Therefore, you might want to consider some of the key factors that could influence the stock's performance in the near future.

Shares of this company have returned -0.6% over the past month versus the Zacks S&P 500 composite's +0.3% change. The Zacks Insurance - Property and Casualty industry, to which Berkshire Hathaway B belongs, has gained 2.2% over this period. Now the key question is: Where could the stock be headed in the near term?

Although media reports or rumors about a significant change in a company's business prospects usually cause its stock to trend and lead to an immediate price change, there are always certain fundamental factors that ultimately drive the buy-and-hold decision.

Berkshire Hathaway B is expected to post earnings of $5.24 per share for the current quarter, representing a year-over-year change of +1.4%. Over the last 30 days, the Zacks Consensus Estimate remained unchanged.

For the current fiscal year, the consensus earnings estimate of $20.87 points to a change of +1.2% from the prior year. Over the last 30 days, this estimate has changed +0.3%.

For the next fiscal year, the consensus earnings estimate of $21.63 indicates a change of +3.6% from what Berkshire Hathaway B is expected to report a year ago. Over the past month, the estimate has changed +0.2%.

With an impressive externally audited track record, our proprietary stock rating tool -- the Zacks Rank -- is a more conclusive indicator of a stock's near-term price performance, as it effectively harnesses the power of earnings estimate revisions. The size of the recent change in the consensus estimate, along with three other factors related to earnings estimates, has resulted in a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy) for Berkshire Hathaway B.

For Berkshire Hathaway B, the consensus sales estimate for the current quarter of $95.3 billion indicates a year-over-year change of +3%. For the current and next fiscal years, $385.6 billion and $404.9 billion estimates indicate +3.8% and +5% changes, respectively.

Last Reported Results and Surprise HistoryBerkshire Hathaway B reported revenues of $93.68 billion in the last reported quarter, representing a year-over-year change of +4.4%. EPS of $5.25 for the same period compares with $4.47 a year ago.

Compared to the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $95.1 billion, the reported revenues represent a surprise of -1.5%. The EPS surprise was +8.92%.

Over the last four quarters, Berkshire Hathaway B surpassed consensus EPS estimates two times. The company topped consensus revenue estimates times over this period.

ValuationNo investment decision can be efficient without considering a stock's valuation. Whether a stock's current price rightly reflects the intrinsic value of the underlying business and the company's growth prospects is an essential determinant of its future price performance.

While comparing the current values of a company's valuation multiples, such as price-to-earnings (P/E), price-to-sales (P/S), and price-to-cash flow (P/CF), with its own historical values helps determine whether its stock is fairly valued, overvalued, or undervalued, comparing the company relative to its peers on these parameters gives a good sense of the reasonability of the stock's price.

Berkshire Hathaway B is graded C on this front, indicating that it is trading at par with its peers. Click here to see the values of some of the valuation metrics that have driven this grade.

ConclusionThe facts discussed here and much other information on Zacks.com might help determine whether or not it's worthwhile paying attention to the market buzz about Berkshire Hathaway B. However, its Zacks Rank #2 does suggest that it may outperform the broader market in the near term.

Magnificent 7 face the ultimate test as Q2 earnings loom
NVDA Nvidia
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Investors have largely shifted their attention away from the Magnificent 7 companies as enthusiasm has moved toward semiconductor stocks and the broader artificial intelligence trade.

The Roundhill Magnificent 7 ETF (MAGS) has gained just 0.68% this year, significantly underperforming the S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 indices.

With earnings from the biggest names in technology approaching, the key question is whether this pullback presents a golden opportunity to buy these market leaders before a potential rebound.

Magnificent 7 is a group made up of the biggest American companies, including popular names like Apple, Microsoft, Alphabet, Amazon, Meta Platforms, NVIDIA, and Tesla. Cumulatively, these companies are valued at over $22 trillion.

These companies have underperformed the broader market this year as investors have started to question their AI spending. At the same time, investors have turned to memory companies, with the popular DRAM ETF attracting over $20 billion in assets in less than four months.

Apple, which has plans to spend just $14.6 billion in capital expenditure this year, has jumped by 20% and is the best-performing Magnificent 7 company. Nvidia and Google have risen by 9%, while Amazon has risen by 7%. Meta has slipped by 2.8%, while Tesla is down by over 17%.

This performance has pushed investors to lose interest in these companies. The closely-watched Roundhill Magnificent 7 ETF (MAGS) has had over $167 million in outflows in the last six months. It has shed over $332 million in assets in the last three months.

MAGS ETF inflows and outflows | Source: ETF Db

Recently, however, there are signs that investors are buying the dip, with the net inflows rising by $400 million in the last 30 days.

The next few days will be crucial for Magnificent 7 companies as they publish their financial results. Tesla and Alphabet will be the first ones to publish their results today, with analysts expecting strong numbers.

Tesla recently announced strong second-quarter delivery numbers. It sold 480,000 vehicles in the second quarter after making 450k. A recent report suggested that the company is boosting its production in Germany as demand in Europe jumped.

Estimates are that its revenue rose by 17.2% in the second quarter to $23 billion as its deliveries jumped.

Alphabet is also expected to release strong numbers. The average estimate is that its revenue jumped by 21% to $113.62 billion, while its EPS moved from $2.31 to $3.04. These will be the first results since the company raised billions of dollars by selling shares and debt.

More Magnificent 7 companies will publish their numbers next week. Microsoft and Meta Platforms will release their results on Wednesday, while Apple and Amazon will do so a day later. Nvidia is always the last company to publish its numbers.

These results will be important because the big-tech companies will describe their strategies going forward. Most importantly, they will announce their capital expenditure plans as the cost of memory, servers, and chips keeps rising.

Most analysts believe that most of these companies will do well over time. In a recent Bloomberg interview, Morgan Stanley’s Mike Wilson said that big tech stocks will do well as investors rotate from semiconductor names.

Also, the average estimate for Nvidia stock is $304, much higher than the current $207. The consensus Microsoft target is $556, up from the current $397, while Google’s target is$386.

NVIDIA vs. AMD: Which AI Chip Stock Is the Better Buy Now?
NVDA Nvidia
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Key Takeaways NVIDIA's AI leadership, Blackwell adoption and data center growth support its stronger outlook.AMD is gaining AI traction through Instinct GPUs, EPYC processors and major cloud partnerships.NVIDIA's 19.31X forward P/E trails AMD's 53.04X despite stronger growth and profitability. Artificial intelligence (AI) continues to reshape the semiconductor industry, and NVIDIA Corporation (NVDA - Free Report) and Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD - Free Report) remain at the center of this transformation. Both companies are expanding rapidly as cloud providers, enterprises and AI developers spend heavily on AI infrastructure. While NVDA still dominates the AI accelerator market, AMD is making meaningful progress with its Instinct GPUs (graphics processing units) and EPYC server processors.

The question for investors is whether Advanced Micro Devices' faster stock rally makes it the better opportunity, or if NVIDIA's unmatched leadership still makes it the stronger long-term investment.

NVIDIA: The Undisputed AI Computing Chip LeaderNVIDIA continues to dominate the AI computing space. The company’s last reported results for first-quarter fiscal 2027 were another exceptional financial performance. First-quarter revenues soared 85% year over year to $81.6 billion as data center sales jumped 92% to a record $75.2 billion. Non-GAAP earnings surged 140% to $1.87 per share.

The rapid adoption of its Blackwell platform, strong networking demand and growing deployment across hyperscalers, enterprises and sovereign AI projects continue to strengthen its competitive position. During the last earnings call, management highlighted expanding opportunities in AI infrastructure, forecasting industry spending could eventually reach trillions of dollars annually.

Beyond GPUs, NVIDIA is widening its moat through networking, software and AI systems. CUDA remains the industry's preferred AI software ecosystem, making it difficult for customers to switch platforms. The company is also entering the data center CPU (central processing unit) market with Vera, creating another long-term growth engine.

Its enormous free cash flow supports higher shareholder returns through dividends and share repurchases while funding aggressive research and development. During the first quarter of fiscal 2027, NVIDIA generated $50.3 billion in operating cash flow and $48.6 billion in free cash flow. The company returned $243 million to its shareholders through dividend payouts and repurchased stocks worth $19.3 billion in the first quarter.

However, NVIDIA is not without risks. The company faces export restrictions to China, an increasingly competitive AI market and the challenge of sustaining extraordinary growth after several years of explosive expansion.

AMD: A Strong Challenger With Growing AI MomentumAdvanced Micro Devices is steadily strengthening its position in AI infrastructure. The company’s first-quarter 2026 revenues climbed 38% year over year to $10.3 billion, driven by record data center revenues of $5.8 billion, which increased 57%. Non-GAAP earnings jumped 43% year over year to $1.37 per share.

Advanced Micro Devices is witnessing strong demand for its EPYC server processors. The company’s Instinct AI accelerators continue to gain traction as customers move from pilot projects to production deployments. During the first-quarter earnings call, management expressed confidence that AI accelerator revenues could reach tens of billions of dollars annually in 2027, supported by growing partnerships with Meta, OpenAI and major cloud providers.

Advanced Micro Devices' biggest strength is its broad portfolio. Along with AI GPUs, it continues to gain server CPU market share, expand its AI PC offerings and improve its ROCm software platform. These efforts are making AMD a more credible alternative to NVIDIA.

Strong revenue growth and improving profitability are helping Advanced Micro Devices generate huge cash flows. In the first quarter of 2026, AMD reported $3 billion of cash from continuing operations and free cash flow of $2.6 billion.

Nonetheless, challenges remain for the company. NVIDIA continues to dominate the AI accelerator market with a much stronger software ecosystem and a larger installed customer base. Advanced Micro Devices also expects higher memory and component costs to weigh on PC and gaming demand during the second half of 2026. AMD’s share buybacks are not massive as it continues to invest heavily to narrow the technology gap with NVDA. In the first quarter of 2026, it repurchased shares worth $221 million.

NVIDIA vs. AMD: Which Has a Better Growth Outlook? Both companies are benefiting from growing spending on AI infrastructure buildouts by hyperscalers and enterprises, but analysts appear more optimistic about NVIDIA's growth outlook.

The Zacks Consensus Estimate for NVIDIA’s fiscal 2027 revenues and earnings indicates year-over-year growth of 80% and 90.6%, respectively. The consensus mark for fiscal 2027 earnings has also been revised upward by 4.36% over the past 60 days. The meaningful upward earnings estimate revision reflects growing confidence that sustained AI investments will continue to support NVDA’s earnings growth.

NVDA Consensus EPS Estimate Revision Trend

On the other hand, the Zacks Consensus Estimate for Advanced Micro Devices’ 2026 revenues and earnings indicates year-over-year growth of 42.3% and 74.6%, respectively. AMD is also seeing positive estimate revisions, although the magnitude is relatively smaller. During the past 60 days, the consensus estimate for 2026 earnings has increased by 0.97%. While this remains encouraging, it suggests that analysts currently see stronger earnings momentum at NVIDIA.

AMD Consensus EPS Estimate Revision Trend

Valuation: NVIDIA Offers Better Value Than AMDAt first glance, Advanced Micro Devices' 154.3% year-to-date rally far exceeds NVIDIA's 10.9% gain, reflecting growing investor confidence in its AI ambitions. However, the sharp rise has also pushed AMD's valuation significantly higher.

NVIDIA currently trades at a forward 12-month price-to-earnings (P/E) multiple of 19.31, well below Advanced Micro Devices' 53.04. That is notable because NVIDIA is delivering much faster revenue growth, stronger profitability, significantly higher free cash flow and remains the clear leader in AI accelerators. AMD remains an attractive long-term AI company, but much of its near-term optimism already appears reflected in its valuation.

NVIDIA vs. AMD: Which AI Stock Wins? Both NVIDIA and Advanced Micro Devices are well-positioned to benefit from the long-term AI investment cycle. AMD is executing well, gaining market share and building stronger customer relationships that should support years of growth.

However, NVIDIA continues to outperform on nearly every major metric, including revenue growth, profitability, software leadership, ecosystem strength, cash generation and shareholder returns. Combined with its lower valuation multiple, NVIDIA offers a more compelling balance of growth and value. For investors looking to capitalize on the AI boom today, NVIDIA remains the better investment bet.

Currently, NVIDIA sports a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy), giving it a clear edge over Advanced Micro Devices, which carries a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy). You can see the complete list of today’s Zacks #1 Rank stocks here.

Can NVIDIA's Sovereign AI Push Unlock New Revenue Streams Now?
NVDA Nvidia
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Key Takeaways NVIDIA posted record first-quarter fiscal 2027 revenues of $81.6 billion, up 85% year over year.Sovereign AI demand helped NVIDIA's ACIE revenues reach $37.4 billion, rising 74% year over year.Long-term projects may drive recurring demand for NVIDIA hardware, networking and software upgrades. NVIDIA Corporation (NVDA - Free Report) is expanding beyond traditional cloud customers by targeting sovereign artificial intelligence (AI) projects, a fast-growing market where governments build domestic AI infrastructure to strengthen national security, scientific research and digital economies. This strategy could open a significant new revenue stream as countries increasingly seek to develop AI capabilities using locally owned computing resources.

The opportunity is already contributing to NVIDIA’s strong growth. In the first quarter of fiscal 2027, the company generated record revenues of $81.6 billion, up 85% year over year, while Data Center revenues rose 92% to a record $75.2 billion. Management also highlighted that sovereign AI demand has become an important contributor to its AI Clouds, Industrial and Enterprise business, which generated $37.4 billion in revenues during the quarter, up 74% year over year.

NVIDIA’s advantage lies in offering a complete AI platform rather than standalone chips. Governments can deploy its Blackwell GPUs alongside Spectrum-X networking, NVLink technology and AI software to build large-scale AI factories. The company is also expanding partnerships with cloud providers and regional technology firms to accelerate sovereign AI deployments across multiple countries.

Sovereign AI projects typically involve long-term infrastructure investments, creating recurring demand for hardware upgrades, networking products and software platforms. This provides NVIDIA with revenue opportunities beyond initial system deployments.

While geopolitical tensions and export restrictions remain risks, the global race to build national AI capabilities is accelerating. As more governments invest in domestic AI infrastructure, NVIDIA’s leadership in AI computing and its integrated technology stack position the company to capture a growing share of this emerging multibillion-dollar market. The Zacks Consensus Estimate for fiscal 2027 revenues is currently pegged at $387.84 billion, indicating a year-over-year increase of 79.6%.

NVIDIA’s Rivals Also Target the Sovereign AI OpportunityWhile NVIDIA leads the sovereign AI market, Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD - Free Report) and Intel Corporation (INTC - Free Report) are positioning themselves to benefit from government-backed AI infrastructure investments.

Advanced Micro Devices is expanding its presence through its EPYC server processors and Instinct AI accelerators, which are increasingly being adopted by cloud providers, research institutions and public-sector organizations. In the first quarter of 2026, AMD's Data Center revenues rose 57% year over year to $5.8 billion, reflecting strong demand for AI and high-performance computing solutions.

Advanced Micro Devices is also strengthening its ROCm software platform and collaborating with national laboratories and enterprise customers, making its AI portfolio more attractive for sovereign AI deployments that require open and scalable computing platforms.

Intel remains an important player because of its broad enterprise footprint and manufacturing capabilities. The company generated more than $5 billion in data center and AI revenues during the first quarter of 2026 and continues to invest in Xeon processors, Gaudi AI accelerators and advanced foundry services. Intel's ability to manufacture chips in the United States and Europe aligns well with many governments' goal of building secure domestic technology supply chains.

While NVIDIA currently enjoys a clear lead in AI computing, Advanced Micro Devices and Intel have the technology, customer relationships and global presence to compete for a share of the growing sovereign AI infrastructure market as government investments continue to accelerate.

NVIDIA’s Price Performance, Valuation and EstimatesShares of NVIDIA have risen around 10.8% year to date, underperforming the Zacks Computer and Technology sector’s gain of 12.1%.

NVIDIA is the Cheapest It's Looked in Over 7 Years — The Market's Dead Wrong to Price Peak Growth
NVDA Nvidia
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA | NVDA Price Prediction) might be 12% off its all-time highs from around three months ago, but, all the while, the valuation recently has sunk to depths not seen in around seven years. Indeed, the value case for shares of the fast-rising GPU gainer is really nothing new. Whether you look at the 31.7 times trailing price-to-earnings (P/E) or the 23.2 times forward P/E multiple, it’s not hard to make an argument for accumulating shares while they’re in a relatively cool spot.

Of course, if the semiconductor names fold, don’t expect shares of Jensen Huang’s $5 trillion empire to be spared. In any case, there’s no shortage of believers in the name, even as the stock chart starts looking far less attractive than in recent years. Duan Yongping of H&H International Investment actually added a huge position in the firm back in the first quarter.

A Magnificent bargain in the Mag Seven While I understand concerns that the seemingly cheap (at least relative to the astronomical growth at gross margins that scream “too good to be true”) name might actually be a trap once hyperscalers finish their data center builds or start phasing out Nvidia hardware for their own custom silicon, there’s great uncertainty with the timeline. Until the hyperscalers spend less (it feels like they’ll spend more from here) and produce enough silicon to satisfy their own inference needs (chokepoints and demand will make this hard), Nvidia is bound to keep selling — and selling well.

Add Nvidia’s widening software moat into the equation, especially when it comes to the robotics platform it’s building up, and it’s hard to gauge how the transition will go as some piece of Nvidia finds itself in the robotic innovations of the future.

Is it an uncertain time for Nvidia as AI data center moves at a blistering pace while AI bubble fearers attempt to time a top? Most definitely. But, at the same time, there’s more than one way that Nvidia can continue knocking balls out of the park as the third or fourth innings of AI come along (some think we’re in even earlier innings in this AI ballgame).

Don't wait: the analyst who called NVIDIA in 2010 just revealed his top 10 AI stocks. See the full list FREE now.

Nvidia’s wins might not be limited to the early days of the AI boom If the company can shift gears from a GPU vendor to an ecosystem platform for physical AI and agentics, maybe that 75% gross margin that’s more reminiscent of a software company isn’t going anywhere, at least not anytime soon. In any case, at close to 23 times forward P/E, shares of Nvidia already seem priced as a GPU vendor that’s already seen its best days. With the profound performance leaps to be had with Rubin and Vera, I’d say that’s far from the case.

The company has pulled the curtain on a number of breakthroughs in recent quarters. And while the market might not reward the stock accordingly, especially amid the latest upset in semis, I do think that it’s long-term investors who will ultimately be rewarded as Jensen Huang plays to his strengths. So, unless you’re an AI bubble believer, I do think that Nvidia shares stand out as one of the most undervalued large-cap names out there.

It’s hiding in plain sight at the very top of the market, but if the AI revolution goes as planned and firms start making serious money as they execute their AI game plans, perhaps envisioning Nvidia stock at $500 per share isn’t so much of a stretch. If Nvidia’s platform proves untouchable in the AI era, perhaps we could find ourselves paying a much higher multiple on shares, even once growth comes in.

The bottom line If you own the hyperscalers, which are scrambling to cut Nvidia out of their stacks with their own custom silicon, I think you also have to own Nvidia in case the pushback doesn’t go as intended. Add recent open-source innovations (look no further than the Cosmos 3 world model platform) into the equation, and I think it’s clear that Nvidia is set to become an AI enabler that very few can keep pace with.

Nvidia's Brilliant ‘Freemium' Software Hook is Why I'm Loading Up for The Long Term
NVDA Nvidia
FMP Stock News
Original source text
I keep buying NVIDIA, and the reason has almost nothing to do with the chips. It’s the software giveaway underneath them. Most investors file NVIDIA (NASDAQ:NVDA | NVDA Price Prediction) under “hardware,” and that framing is exactly why I’m still adding at $207.29. What I actually own is a freemium platform that happens to sell the world’s most expensive accelerators on the back end.

The Free Tier Is the Trap CUDA is free. Triton is free. NIMs, Dynamo 1.0, Nemotron, BioNeMo, Isaac, Omniverse. All free. Every graduate student, startup, and hyperscaler research team writes code against these libraries. Then the code only runs at full speed on NVIDIA silicon. “NVIDIA has the largest suite of acceleration libraries in the world,” Jensen Huang told analysts on the May call, and that’s the moat in plain language.

The paywall shows up at scale. When a customer moves from prototype to production, they build an AI factory rather than purchasing a single GPU. CFO Colette Kress framed it plainly: “Customers do not buy GPUs; they build AI factories. The right economic metric is not the purchase price of the GPU; it is the lifetime cost of an AI factory producing intelligence.” Switching costs at that level are brutal. You’d rewrite years of CUDA-optimized code, retrain teams, and lose performance. Almost nobody does it.

The Receipts Three numbers keep the buy button warm. First, growth that shouldn’t be possible at this size. Q1 FY2027 revenue hit $81.615 billion, up 85.23% year over year, with Data Center alone at $75.246 billion (+92%). Networking inside that number grew 199% YoY. Management guided Q2 to $91.0 billion.

Second, the margin structure the software stack enables. Gross margin 71.07%, operating margin 60.38%, ROE 101.5%, ROIC 92.2%. Free cash flow of $48.554 billion in a single quarter. Those are software-company economics attached to a hardware volume business.

Don't wait: the analyst who called NVIDIA in 2010 just revealed his top 10 AI stocks. See the full list FREE now.

Third, capital returns finally showing up. The board authorized an additional $80 billion buyback on top of $38.5 billion remaining, and lifted the quarterly dividend from $0.01 to $0.25. At a forward P/E of 23, I’m paying a market multiple for a compounder returning tens of billions to owners.

Why Not the Obvious Alternatives NVIDIA’s Data Center segment posted $75.25 billion in a single quarter, which is larger than AMD’s entire company revenue base, and AMD does not run CUDA. Broadcom is the other name people cite for AI silicon, but its custom ASIC business lacks the CUDA software ecosystem lock-in that keeps developers on NVIDIA year after year. I’m paying for a developer base that would need to be pried loose one library at a time.

The Risk I Actually Watch China. H20 shipments went to zero this quarter, and Q2 guidance excludes China Data Center compute revenue entirely. That’s real. What keeps the thesis intact is that demand outside China is absorbing every wafer TSMC can produce. The $91 billion Q2 guide assumes zero China contribution. Blackwell and Rubin combined carry $1 trillion in revenue visibility through calendar 2027. I don’t need China to make the math work.

What Keeps the Buy Button Active Reddit is skeptical, insiders are trimming, and the crowd on Polymarket sees limited near-term upside above $210. I’m buying for the long arc, because every free download of CUDA is a future paying customer, and there are roughly 250,000 enterprises that haven’t shown up yet. The freemium hook is set. I keep loading.

American Airlines Stock Has Climbed 24% This Year, but Analysts Can't Agree on Its Worth
AAL American Airlines
FMP Stock News
Original source text
This post may contain links from our sponsors and affiliates, and Flywheel Publishing may receive compensation for actions taken through them.

Wall Street’s take on American Airlines (NASDAQ:AAL | AAL Price Prediction) is a study in hesitation. The sell-side holds a consensus price target of $19.60 with an equal number of Buy and Hold/Sell ratings, while shares closed most recently at $15.28. That is a lukewarm stance for a stock that has quietly climbed 24.0% over the past year heading into its July 23 earnings report.

The Cash Flow Inflection Wall Street Is Underweighting The most overlooked line in the Q1 2026 filing was cash generation. Operating cash flow reached $4.22 billion (+71.95% year over year) and free cash flow more than doubled to $3.41 billion (+108.82% year over year). Revenue accelerated to $13.91 billion, up 10.8% year over year, with Atlantic passenger unit revenue up 16.7% year over year and managed corporate revenue up 13% year over year.

The loyalty flywheel is the other missed signal. AAdvantage enrollments rose 25% year over year to a record, alongside the new 10-year exclusive Citi co-branded credit card partnership. CEO Robert Isom framed the setup this way on the Q1 call: “American delivered record revenue in the first quarter, and we’re on track for another record in the second quarter.” Polymarket agrees, pricing an 87% probability that American beats the imminent quarter.

The Counterweight Investors Cannot Ignore The bear case is grounded in real numbers. Full-year 2025 net income collapsed to $111 million, down 86.88% year over year, and FY 2026 adjusted EPS guidance of negative $0.40 to $1.10 implies at best modest profitability. Leverage remains heavy at $34.7 billion in total debt with negative stockholders’ equity of $4.08 billion. Fuel is the swing factor: West Texas Intermediate (WTI) was trading at $79.20 per barrel after a 13.8% weekly jump, and management already flagged more than $4 billion in incremental fuel expense for 2026. Volatility is also elevated, with a beta of 1.319. Melius Research recently moved the stock from Buy to Hold, citing aggressive capacity growth and volatile fuel prices, and insiders have recorded 19 recent transactions with net selling activity.

Does the Bull Case Survive? With a price-to-sales ratio of 0.18 and a forward P/E of 32x, American Airlines appears priced for stagnation. If the free cash flow trajectory holds and the Atlantic plus premium mix continues to accelerate, the sell-side’s $19.60 target could look conservative. Keep an eye on the stock into Thursday’s report: fuel commentary, unit revenue by region, and any update on debt reduction below $35 billion will determine whether the market finally re-rates the story.

AT&T (T) Beats Q2 Earnings Estimates
T AT&T
FMP Stock News
Original source text
AT&T (T - Free Report) came out with quarterly earnings of $0.65 per share, beating the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $0.59 per share. This compares to earnings of $0.54 per share a year ago. These figures are adjusted for non-recurring items.

This quarterly report represents an earnings surprise of +10.17%. A quarter ago, it was expected that this telecommunications company would post earnings of $0.55 per share when it actually produced earnings of $0.57, delivering a surprise of +3.64%.

Over the last four quarters, the company has surpassed consensus EPS estimates three times.

AT&T, which belongs to the Zacks Wireless National industry, posted revenues of $31.56 billion for the quarter ended June 2026, missing the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 1.49%. This compares to year-ago revenues of $30.85 billion. The company has topped consensus revenue estimates two times over the last four quarters.

The sustainability of the stock's immediate price movement based on the recently-released numbers and future earnings expectations will mostly depend on management's commentary on the earnings call.

AT&T shares have lost about 10.4% since the beginning of the year versus the S&P 500's gain of 9.7%.

What's Next for AT&T?While AT&T has underperformed the market so far this year, the question that comes to investors' minds is: what's next for the stock?

There are no easy answers to this key question, but one reliable measure that can help investors address this is the company's earnings outlook. Not only does this include current consensus earnings expectations for the coming quarter(s), but also how these expectations have changed lately.

Empirical research shows a strong correlation between near-term stock movements and trends in earnings estimate revisions. Investors can track such revisions by themselves or rely on a tried-and-tested rating tool like the Zacks Rank, which has an impressive track record of harnessing the power of earnings estimate revisions.

Ahead of this earnings release, the estimate revisions trend for AT&T was mixed. While the magnitude and direction of estimate revisions could change following the company's just-released earnings report, the current status translates into a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold) for the stock. So, the shares are expected to perform in line with the market in the near future. You can see the complete list of today's Zacks #1 Rank (Strong Buy) stocks here.

It will be interesting to see how estimates for the coming quarters and the current fiscal year change in the days ahead. The current consensus EPS estimate is $0.62 on $32.13 billion in revenues for the coming quarter and $2.32 on $130.03 billion in revenues for the current fiscal year.

Investors should be mindful of the fact that the outlook for the industry can have a material impact on the performance of the stock as well. In terms of the Zacks Industry Rank, Wireless National is currently in the bottom 20% of the 250 plus Zacks industries. Our research shows that the top 50% of the Zacks-ranked industries outperform the bottom 50% by a factor of more than 2 to 1.

Another stock from the same industry, Liberty Capital Corporation (GLIBA - Free Report) , has yet to report results for the quarter ended June 2026. The results are expected to be released on August 6.

This company is expected to post quarterly earnings of $1.15 per share in its upcoming report, which represents a year-over-year change of +22.3%. The consensus EPS estimate for the quarter has remained unchanged over the last 30 days.

Liberty Capital Corporation's revenues are expected to be $265 million, up 1.5% from the year-ago quarter.

Warren Buffett Explained Why Netflix's AI Edge Won't Last -- 40 Years Ago
NFLX Netflix
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Streaming giant Netflix (NFLX +2.26%) failed to meet expectations with its second-quarter results and guidance last week, but the company did mark an important first. A sequence from Argentine science fiction series and Netflix original El Eternauta used generative AI for a building collapse scene. This is the debut of final footage created with generative AI tools appearing in a Netflix original film or series.

Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos noted in the earnings call that it would have taken ten times as long to create the sequence using traditional tools and workflows. He framed the AI tools as a way for creators to make better content for less money.

The prospect of dramatically shorter production times and lower costs for Netflix's originals sounds great on the surface, but an old Warren Buffett quote throws some cold water on the idea that this will give Netflix a durable cost advantage.

Standing on your tiptoes at a parade In his 1985 letter to shareholders, Warren Buffett laid out the trap that companies can fall into in their quest to lower costs. Buffett was talking about textile mills, a commodity business that is very different from streaming. But the lesson still applies.

Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway tried for years to make its textile business work, turning to capital expenditures that promised to lower variable costs. Buffett noted that each investment made sense in a vacuum and was backed by sound logic, but that they delivered no benefits. What was the problem? Everyone else in the textile business followed suit. "Many of our competitors, both domestic and foreign, were stepping up to the same kind of expenditures and, once enough companies did so, their reduced costs became the baseline for reduced prices industrywide," Buffett said.

Buffett likened the situation to everyone standing on their tiptoes at a parade. If everyone does it, no one sees any better, and everyone is a little more uncomfortable. Generative AI for content creation fits this mold. Netflix is seeing faster production times and lower costs, but so will all its competitors. No one will be willing to pay more for higher-quality content because the bar for quality will be raised. And, perhaps worse for Netflix, the barrier to entry into the content creation business will collapse.

Netflix has no choice but to use generative AI tools for its content. Unfortunately, there's no advantage to be had.

AI could still strengthen Netflix While Netflix is unlikely to gain an edge in content creation, generative AI does have the potential to strengthen the advantages the streaming giant already has. Netflix's scale and its data are genuine competitive advantages, and AI can act as a multiplier. Personalization for recommending content and serving ads, fueled by a mountain of data on its subscribers, is a win that smaller competitors will have a tough time replicating.

Netflix's success in speeding up production times and lowering costs using generative AI offers a short-term cost benefit for the company, but it's unlikely to last. AI can still be a net positive, but Buffett's warning four decades ago is just as relevant today.

Netflix Is Getting Crushed. Here's Why I'll Start Buying
NFLX Netflix
FMP Stock News
Original source text

Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX | NFLX Price Prediction) trades well below our 24/7 Wall St. price target. Shares closed at $67.68 after falling 27.9% year-to-date and 44.1% over the past year. Our proprietary model points materially higher on a 12-month view, and the drawdown looks like an entry point rather than a warning.

24/7 Wall St. Price Target Summary Metric Value Current Price $67.68 24/7 Wall St. Price Target $161.40 Upside 138.47% Recommendation BUY Confidence Level 90% Our 24/7 Wall St. price target for Netflix is $161.40, implying triple-digit upside from current levels. This reflects a stock that has become genuinely cheap relative to its earnings power.

Why Netflix Is Getting Crushed NFLX is down 8.44% in the past week and 12.64% over the past month, now sitting 23% below the 52-week high of $126.71 and near the 52-week low of $65.08.

Q2 2026 delivered EPS of $0.80 on revenue of $12.559 billion, a slight revenue miss against a 13.37% YoY gain. Free cash flow fell 32.73% on higher cash taxes, and the earnings-day narrative was harsh: “Netflix beat earnings, did its biggest buyback and then restricted access to its engagement data and fell 12% through two days.” The market wanted a clean quarter and got a messy one.

The Case for $170 and Higher The bull thesis rests on advertising. Netflix guided FY2026 ad revenue to roughly $3 billion, essentially doubling from $1.5 billion in 2025, with advertiser count up 70% YoY to over 4,000. Full-year 2026 guidance calls for revenue of $51 to $51.4 billion, operating margin of 31.5%, and FCF near $12.5 billion.

Netflix repurchased $4.7 billion of stock in Q2, its largest buyback ever, with $27.1 billion still authorized. Founder Reed Hastings bought 794,250 shares in May and June at depressed prices, signaling insider conviction. Our bull case target sits at $173.18.

What Could Go Wrong Bears have real ammunition. Content amortization is front-loaded into H1 2026, pressuring near-term margins, and $1 billion in debt matures later in 2026. Prediction markets on Polymarket assign only a 18% probability that NFLX finishes this week above $70, and composite sentiment has fallen 21.79 points over 30 days.

Act now: the analyst who called NVIDIA in 2010 just named his top 10 AI stocks — and Netflix didn't make the cut. Grab the names FREE today.

Bulls counter that the Q2 FCF drop was driven by cash tax timing and the Warner Bros. termination. Our bear case still lands at $130.55, well above today’s price.

How Netflix Stacks Up Against Disney and Spotify Walt Disney (NYSE:DIS) is the natural streaming comp given its Disney+ and Hulu streaming platforms. Disney’s SVOD margins remain well below Netflix’s. That margin gap makes Netflix’s 33.4% operating margin premium-worthy and supports the higher multiple in our target.

Spotify (NYSE:SPOT) is the audio streaming comp, continuing to grow Premium Subscribers at a healthy pace. Spotify trades at a much richer multiple than Netflix on forward earnings, making the discount on NFLX look mispriced relative to its scale, margins, and buyback capacity. The peer set makes our 24/7 Wall St. price target look reasonable.

The Bull Case Summary The 24/7 Wall St. price target is $161.40, our recommendation is buy, and confidence sits at 90%. The combination of a doubling ad business, a $27 billion buyback runway, and founder-level insider buying into weakness is compelling.

Investors may want to watch for a move toward the $65 52-week low as H2 FCF confirms guidance. Key risks include Q3 revenue missing the $12.86 billion guide or the $1 billion refinancing hitting at penal rates.

Netflix Price Prediction 2026-2030 Year 24/7 Wall St. Price Target 2026 $95 2027 $161 2028 $245 2029 $390 2030 $560 These projections assume Netflix executes on ad-tier scale-up and defends operating margins. Significant upside or downside could come from live sports economics and GenAI content adoption pace.

Should You Buy Netflix Stock After Its Recent 48% Plunge?
NFLX Netflix
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Netflix (NFLX +2.26%) operates the world's largest streaming service for movies and television shows. On July 16, the company reported a mixed set of operating results for the second quarter, with its earnings per share beating Wall Street's expectations, but its revenue and forward guidance falling short.

Netflix stock sank 7% after the release of its second-quarter report, adding to a 48% decline from last year's record high. An increasingly competitive landscape, combined with the recent departure of co-founder Reed Hastings (who was serving as chairman of the board) are among the other factors weighing on investor sentiment.

However, read on to find out why I think the recent pessimism has created a great long-term buying opportunity.

Netflix continues to dominate the streaming industry Netflix has over 325 million paying subscribers, so it's towering over its nearest rivals like Amazon Prime and Warner Bros. Discovery (the owner of Discovery+ and HBO Max), which have 200 million and 140 million members, respectively. Staying ahead of the competition requires innovation, an attractive content slate, and flexible membership options.

In late 2022, Netflix introduced a new subscription tier at an affordable price point, supported by advertising. It costs just $8.99 per month, whereas the ad-free Standard and Premium plans cost $19.99 per month and $26.99 per month, respectively. However, ad-tier members have the potential to become more valuable over time, because Netflix can charge businesses more money for advertising slots as this user base grows.

Ad slots also command a premium during live programming, so Netflix is investing heavily in sports content from across the National Football League (NFL) and Major League Baseball (MLB), boxing, and even World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). Plus, the company says 6 of the 10 biggest new-member sign-up days over the last five years have come from live events, which also give the subscriber base a huge boost.

But despite all of its efforts, Netflix's second-quarter operating results mostly missed Wall Street's expectations. The company generated $12.56 billion in revenue, slightly below analysts' $12.59 billion estimate. Management also narrowed its revenue guidance range for 2026; it was previously $50.7 billion to $51.7 billion, and now it's $51 billion to $51.4 billion. The midpoint of both ranges is $51.2 billion, so, despite disappointing some analysts, I think it simply means management now has more clarity about where revenue might land.

Advertising revenue remains on track to be a real bright spot in 2026. Netflix expects it to come in at $3 billion, which would be double last year's result.

Netflix stock is cheap right now One area in which Netflix topped Wall Street's expectations during the second quarter was at the bottom line. The company reported earnings of $0.80 per share, beating the analysts' average estimate of $0.79 per share. Earnings typically drive stock prices over the long term, so this is positive.

Based on Netflix's trailing-12-month earnings of $3.18 per share, its stock is trading at a price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of just 21.7, a steep discount to its five-year average of 40.6. It also makes Netflix considerably cheaper than the Nasdaq-100, which has a P/E ratio of 33.4, so you could say the streaming giant is undervalued compared to a basket of its big-tech peers.

Netflix stock would have to soar by 54% in the near term just to match the P/E ratio of the Nasdaq-100, which isn't necessarily unrealistic, given that it spent most of the last five years with a P/E above 30.

NFLX PE Ratio data by YCharts

While it's true that Netflix's revenue and earnings growth are slowing, that is a typical trait of practically every company approaching maturity. Nevertheless, Chief Financial Officer Spencer Neumann believes Netflix has captured only around 7% of its estimated $670 billion global revenue market, so there could be plenty of long-term growth ahead.

Given Netflix's solid execution and the sheer size of its global opportunity, I don't think its stock should be trading at a discount to the broader market. As a result, the recent dip presents investors with an intriguing opportunity.

After the final whistle blew on the FIFA World Cup 2026™, millions of fans returned home with unforgettable memories and a trail of economic activity that stretched across countries. Every tap to pay left a lasting impact, as spending throughout the tournament delivered a meaningful boost to merchants and local economies across host cities in Canada, Mexico and the United States.

According to new data from Visa, the tournament drove significant growth in cross-border spending, international travel, and digital commerce across host cities. The findings show how a major global event creates “pop-up economies,” defined by Visa as temporary, highly concentrated periods of commercial activity that emerge around major cultural, entertainment and sporting events.

The data reveals that fans traveled from around the world to follow their teams, generating a surge in Visa cardholder spending across restaurants, transportation, entertainment, retail, lodging, and other sectors. From iconic host cities to emerging fan destinations, the tournament created a broad and lasting economic impact that extended well beyond stadium walls.

A Tournament of Pop-Up Economies

Visa data illustrates the scale, reach and pace of economic activity generated throughout the tournament[1]:

Cross-border Visa transactions in FIFA World Cup 2026™ host cities increasednearly 20% year-over-yearduring the tournament period. Fans from Colombia, Puerto Rico, the United Kingdom, Argentina, and Brazil generated the highest levels of cross-border spend across host cities. Santa Clara/San Jose, Boston, and Miami recorded the largest increases in in-person spending from international and domestic cardholders. Consumers spent most heavily on transportation and entertainment, underscoring the broad economic benefit generated by tournament tourism. Tap to pay transactions rose nearly 12%, reflecting fans’ preference for fast, secure and seamless payment experiences while traveling. Ecuador v Curaçao and Colombia v Ghana, both in Kansas City, and Croatia v Ghana in Philadelphia were examples of matches that generated the highest year-over-year uplift creating significant spending spikes before, during and after kickoff. “This was one of the most impactful FIFA World Cup™ tournaments we’ve seen to date both on and off the pitch,” said Frank Cooper III, Chief Marketing Officer of Visa. “FIFA World Cup 2026™ demonstrated how global events can create far-reaching economic value for businesses, cities and communities. For a few precious days, entire cities came alive with new visitors, new spending and new opportunities for local businesses. Through Visa’s network, we could watch those economies emerge, move from city to city and connect millions of fans with the merchants and communities hosting the world’s biggest sporting event.”

Pop-Up Economies Reached Far Beyond the Stadium

While matches took place inside stadiums, the economic impact spread throughout local communities. Restaurants, bars, retail districts, hotels, transit systems and entertainment venues all experienced increased levels of activity as fans gathered for matches and explored host cities. Several cities achieved standout performance in specific categories[1]:

Boston led growth in year-over-year dining transactions as fans celebrated their nations in local bars and restaurants. Guadalajara recorded the highest transportation spending growth as fans from around the world traveled to the stadium. Atlanta saw strong entertainment activity tied to fan celebrations and cultural events, while New York City experienced a surge in retail spending. These trends demonstrate how a pop-up economy distributes opportunity across an entire host market. The benefits reach businesses directly tied to the tournament and merchants serving everyday visitor needs, from neighborhood restaurants and independent retailers to hotels, transit providers and global brands.

The Tournament Moments That Moved Markets

Some of the tournament’s most memorable moments didn’t just capture attention. They sparked waves of economic activity around the world. Norway’s surprise run to the quarterfinals generated significant increases in consumer spending and transaction activity both in the country and around the world as fans rallied behind the country. In Norway, Visa transaction volumes nearly doubled during matches. Across Norway’s tournament run, increased transaction activity was recorded across a broader set of countries with each successive match, with spending eventually rising in more than 60 countries worldwide when Norway played, demonstrating how a pop-up economy can be fueled by fan passion and engagement.[2]

Moments like this show how fan attention can translate into immediate shifts in economic activity. A major matchup, an unexpected result or a deep tournament run can quickly change travel patterns, increase demand and activate a new pop-up economy in the next destination.

From tourism and local business growth to digital payment adoption, the tournament demonstrated how shared moments of passion can drive commerce at an unprecedented scale. As fans return home, Visa’s data illustrates a lasting legacy, capturing the FIFA World Cup 2026™ as more than a single global event. It was a series of interconnected pop-up economies, each created by the movement, passion and spending of fans. Together, they generated economic opportunity across host communities and demonstrated the role seamless digital payments play in helping businesses serve global demand at speed and scale.

AMZN Technical Analysis

Amazon daily chart, hovering near 248 around its 50-day EMA. Source: TradingView The pre-market trading for Amazon is slightly positive. It is a market that has recently broken out of a V-shaped consolidation pattern. It’s dropped to test the 50-day EMA and now looks as if it is trying to at least bounce from there. It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out, but if it follows the trajectory that it was on just last week, it could see a move towards $260. Amazon has seen a significant turnaround. It does have an earnings call on the 30th, so between now and then, it could be a little cautious.

WMT Technical Analysis Walmart daily chart, slipping near 110 below its EMAs. Source: TradingView Walmart, on the other hand, looks pretty flat at the open. Walmart certainly seems as if it is in a bit of a significant drop. It had broken down during the last earnings call on bad guidance. We dropped, we bounced, tested the 50-day EMA, fell again, tested the 50-day EMA for a second time, and then fell. That’s where we find ourselves right now, simply plunging.

The $100 level has a lot of psychology attached to it. I’ll be watching for a potential setup, not really interested in getting involved quite yet, though.

TGT Technical Analysis Target daily chart, holding near 138 after a steady climb. Source: TradingView Target looks like it’s going to be ever so slightly positive based on pre-market trading. It recently has formed a double top right here around $143, so breaking above there could open up a bigger move. We’ll just have to wait and see. The 50-day EMA does seem to support this market fairly well, as a trendline going back to basically Christmas of last year. So we’ll see if it falls, if that ends up being an area to be a buyer of. Keep in mind interest rates continue to rise, and that could be weighing on the idea of consumer spending, so it could be a sector issue eventually.

Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) is Attracting Investor Attention: Here is What You Should Know
JNJ Johnson & Johnson
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Johnson & Johnson (JNJ - Free Report) has recently been on Zacks.com's list of the most searched stocks. Therefore, you might want to consider some of the key factors that could influence the stock's performance in the near future.

Over the past month, shares of this world's biggest maker of health care products have returned +4.8%, compared to the Zacks S&P 500 composite's +0.3% change. During this period, the Zacks Large Cap Pharmaceuticals industry, which Johnson & Johnson falls in, has gained 9.1%. The key question now is: What could be the stock's future direction?

While media releases or rumors about a substantial change in a company's business prospects usually make its stock 'trending' and lead to an immediate price change, there are always some fundamental facts that eventually dominate the buy-and-hold decision-making.

Earnings Estimate RevisionsRather than focusing on anything else, we at Zacks prioritize evaluating the change in a company's earnings projection.

For the current quarter, Johnson & Johnson is expected to post earnings of $3.04 per share, indicating a change of +8.6% from the year-ago quarter. The Zacks Consensus Estimate has changed +1% over the last 30 days.

The consensus earnings estimate of $11.65 for the current fiscal year indicates a year-over-year change of +8%. This estimate has changed +0.9% over the last 30 days.

For the next fiscal year, the consensus earnings estimate of $12.8 indicates a change of +9.9% from what Johnson & Johnson is expected to report a year ago. Over the past month, the estimate has changed +1.2%.

With an impressive externally audited track record, our proprietary stock rating tool -- the Zacks Rank -- is a more conclusive indicator of a stock's near-term price performance, as it effectively harnesses the power of earnings estimate revisions. The size of the recent change in the consensus estimate, along with three other factors related to earnings estimates, has resulted in a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold) for Johnson & Johnson.

In the case of Johnson & Johnson, the consensus sales estimate of $25.36 billion for the current quarter points to a year-over-year change of +5.7%. The $101.01 billion and $107.24 billion estimates for the current and next fiscal years indicate changes of +7.2% and +6.2%, respectively.

Last Reported Results and Surprise HistoryJohnson & Johnson reported revenues of $25.31 billion in the last reported quarter, representing a year-over-year change of +6.6%. EPS of $2.9 for the same period compares with $2.77 a year ago.

Compared to the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $25.18 billion, the reported revenues represent a surprise of +0.53%. The EPS surprise was +2.11%.

Johnson & Johnson is graded C on this front, indicating that it is trading at par with its peers. Click here to see the values of some of the valuation metrics that have driven this grade.

Bottom LineThe facts discussed here and much other information on Zacks.com might help determine whether or not it's worthwhile paying attention to the market buzz about Johnson & Johnson. However, its Zacks Rank #3 does suggest that it may perform in line with the broader market in the near term.
