Key Takeaways NetApp acquired DataPelago to add GPU-accelerated data processing directly to the storage layer.NTAP says Nucleus enables zero-copy data activation by processing data where it already resides.NetApp says the technology can deliver faster processing and lower infrastructure costs for AI workloads. AI is transforming enterprise IT at an unprecedented pace. To capitalize on this booming trend, NetApp, Inc. (NTAP - Free Report) recently acquired DataPelago, a startup specializing in AI data infrastructure. The deal expands NetApp's intelligent data infrastructure portfolio by bringing GPU-accelerated data processing directly to the storage layer, allowing organizations to process data where it resides instead of copying it to separate AI infrastructure. The acquisition is likely to strengthen NetApp's competitive position in the rapidly growing AI infrastructure market. NetApp has already enhanced its ecosystem through partnerships with Cisco, Google Cloud, Red Hat and SK Telecom. Adding DataPelago extends that strategy.
At the core of the acquisition is Nucleus, DataPelago's universal data processing engine. Instead of transferring massive datasets into separate GPU clusters, Nucleus performs accelerated computing directly where enterprise data already resides. Its architecture uses heterogeneous computing by intelligently leveraging both CPUs and GPUs, enabling workloads to run within the storage environment itself. This approach creates what NetApp calls "zero-copy activation" of enterprise data. Rather than copying data multiple times across different AI systems, organizations can prepare datasets, govern sensitive information, execute transformations and feed AI models without creating additional copies.
According to NetApp, DataPelago's technology provides significant efficiency gains. Potential benefits include up to 10x faster processing compared to traditional architectures, infrastructure cost reductions of up to 80%, better GPU utilization, lower networking overhead and less storage duplication. For enterprises investing heavily in costly GPU infrastructure, these improvements could significantly boost return on investment.
However, competition remains intense. Major players such as Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE - Free Report) , Teradata Corporation (TDC - Free Report) and cloud providers are all investing heavily in AI infrastructure.
Competitive Pressure Clouding NTAP’s Growth RunAcquisitions, such as Stemma, enhance Teradata's capabilities in data search and exploration, providing added value to its customers. Teradata is building on this foundation as it expands the Enterprise Vector Store to unify structured and unstructured data within a single governed platform, capable of supporting large vector volumes and high concurrent query demand from AI agents. Recent enhancements include multimodal support spanning text, images and audio, as well as additional agentic features through ecosystem integrations. The company is also developing an agentic framework, including an MCP Server, to enable querying, analysis and management of data with full context.
HPE has pursued buyouts to strengthen higher-margin hybrid IT models that blend on-premises infrastructure with cloud-like consumption. Hewlett Packard completed the acquisition of Juniper Networks in July 2025 to fortify its Networking business. In 2024, it acquired Morpheus Data, which has enhanced its GreenLake capabilities. In 2023, HPE acquired four businesses — OpsRamp, Axis Security, Athonet and Pachyderm. In 2021, it acquired Ampool, Zerto, Determined AI and CloudPhysics. The deal has expanded its capabilities and product portfolios in the fast-growing cloud space, including software-defined networks and converged and hyper-converged infrastructure. Its focus on a hybrid IT model will drive growth in the long run.

Carvana (CVNA - Free Report) is expected to deliver a year-over-year increase in earnings on higher revenues when it reports results for the quarter ended June 2026. This widely-known consensus outlook gives a good sense of the company's earnings picture, but how the actual results compare to these estimates is a powerful factor that could impact its near-term stock price.
The stock might move higher if these key numbers top expectations in the upcoming earnings report, which is expected to be released on July 29. On the other hand, if they miss, the stock may move lower.
While the sustainability of the immediate price change and future earnings expectations will mostly depend on management's discussion of business conditions on the earnings call, it's worth handicapping the probability of a positive EPS surprise.
Zacks Consensus EstimateThis company is expected to post quarterly earnings of $0.42 per share in its upcoming report, which represents a year-over-year change of +61.5%.
Revenues are expected to be $6.96 billion, up 43.8% from the year-ago quarter.
Estimate Revisions TrendThe consensus EPS estimate for the quarter has been revised 0.07% higher over the last 30 days to the current level. This is essentially a reflection of how the covering analysts have collectively reassessed their initial estimates over this period.
Investors should keep in mind that the direction of estimate revisions by each of the covering analysts may not always get reflected in the aggregate change.
Price, Consensus and EPS Surprise
Earnings WhisperEstimate revisions ahead of a company's earnings release offer clues to the business conditions for the period whose results are coming out. This insight is at the core of our proprietary surprise prediction model -- the Zacks Earnings ESP (Expected Surprise Prediction).
The Zacks Earnings ESP compares the Most Accurate Estimate to the Zacks Consensus Estimate for the quarter; the Most Accurate Estimate is a more recent version of the Zacks Consensus EPS estimate. The idea here is that analysts revising their estimates right before an earnings release have the latest information, which could potentially be more accurate than what they and others contributing to the consensus had predicted earlier.
Thus, a positive or negative Earnings ESP reading theoretically indicates the likely deviation of the actual earnings from the consensus estimate. However, the model's predictive power is significant for positive ESP readings only.
A positive Earnings ESP is a strong predictor of an earnings beat, particularly when combined with a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy), 2 (Buy) or 3 (Hold). Our research shows that stocks with this combination produce a positive surprise nearly 70% of the time, and a solid Zacks Rank actually increases the predictive power of Earnings ESP.
Please note that a negative Earnings ESP reading is not indicative of an earnings miss. Our research shows that it is difficult to predict an earnings beat with any degree of confidence for stocks with negative Earnings ESP readings and/or Zacks Rank of 4 (Sell) or 5 (Strong Sell).
How Have the Numbers Shaped Up for Carvana? For Carvana, the Most Accurate Estimate is lower than the Zacks Consensus Estimate, suggesting that analysts have recently become bearish on the company's earnings prospects. This has resulted in an Earnings ESP of -0.17%.
On the other hand, the stock currently carries a Zacks Rank of #3.
So, this combination makes it difficult to conclusively predict that Carvana will beat the consensus EPS estimate.
Does Earnings Surprise History Hold Any Clue? While calculating estimates for a company's future earnings, analysts often consider to what extent it has been able to match past consensus estimates. So, it's worth taking a look at the surprise history for gauging its influence on the upcoming number.
For the last reported quarter, it was expected that Carvana would post earnings of $0.28 per share when it actually produced earnings of $0.34, delivering a surprise of +21.43%.
Over the last four quarters, the company has beaten consensus EPS estimates three times.
Bottom LineAn earnings beat or miss may not be the sole basis for a stock moving higher or lower. Many stocks end up losing ground despite an earnings beat due to other factors that disappoint investors. Similarly, unforeseen catalysts help a number of stocks gain despite an earnings miss.
That said, betting on stocks that are expected to beat earnings expectations does increase the odds of success. This is why it's worth checking a company's Earnings ESP and Zacks Rank ahead of its quarterly release. Make sure to utilize our Earnings ESP Filter to uncover the best stocks to buy or sell before they've reported.
Carvana doesn't appear a compelling earnings-beat candidate. However, investors should pay attention to other factors too for betting on this stock or staying away from it ahead of its earnings release.

About five years ago, there was a mini gold rush in the electric vehicle (EV) industry. It was due to growing infrastructure support and a flood of public and private funding from investors hoping to get their hands on what might be the next Tesla.
This gold rush ended poorly for many involved: from the more well-known Fisker Automotive, which was supposed to rival Tesla, to the lesser-known companies such as Canoo and Lordstown Motors. Even more capable companies, such as Lucid Group (LCID -1.50%), will almost certainly face more funding questions and capital raises within 12 to 18 months.
Rivian Automotive (RIVN -1.80%), however, appears to be gaining real traction; here are three reasons to believe in it long-term.
Shareholder dilution While Lucid and Rivian are similar in many ways, one factor that has separated the two is shareholder dilution. Unlike Lucid, Rivian has been able to protect its shareholders from more severe shareholder dilution due to capital discipline and its strategic joint ventures, such as with Volkswagen.
It also helps to have a little luck on your side. Rivian executed one of the largest initial public offerings in U.S. history by raising roughly $13.7 billion in gross proceeds, which gave the young EV maker a long capital runway. In contrast, Lucid entered the public markets through a SPAC merger that had a lighter cash balance to help pave the way forward.
Another example of how the two differ is that Lucid has relied heavily on Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF), which now owns a controlling stake in the company. While Lucid has repeatedly issued new equity that dilutes existing shareholders, Rivian largely took a different route by leveraging its internal software and electrical stack to ink a $5.8 billion deal with Volkswagen that has helped generate non-dilutive licensing and convertible loans.
RIVN Shares Outstanding (Quarterly) data by YCharts
You can see in the graph above that Lucid was expanding its shares outstanding much more, until last year when the EV maker executed a 1-for-10 reverse stock split, which reduced its share count to proportionately increase its share price, enabling it to remain listed on the Nasdaq. That's not a great situation to be in. Make no mistake, when considering either of these EV stocks long-term, Rivian is certainly more enticing, even considering only its lesser shareholder dilution.
R2 is a crucial pivot To say that Rivian's R2 is a crucial pivot point for the business would be an understatement. The R2 marks Rivian's transition from luxury-niche EVs to mass-market production and scale. The young EV maker might not even get enough credit for the efforts it has taken to improve unit economics, which have helped power the company to its first full-year gross profit.
Rivian is taking what it's learned from that process and applying it to the R2. And it's expecting to reduce the manufacturing cost per vehicle by 50% compared to even previous improvements on the R1. Rivian's goal was to aim for nearly $7,500 in gross profit per vehicle; here are a couple of unique examples of how it can drive toward that target:
Battery and drive units: The new "Maximus" drive unit contains 41% to 43% fewer parts than the previous Enduro system. Electronics and harnessing: Rivian cut expensive high-voltage cabling down by a significant 70% and simplified its computing architecture by removing 2.3 miles of wiring, cutting down connectors by 60%, and reducing weight by 40 lbs. Rivian even adjusted the R2 to a unibody structure, which reduced costs by 44% and weight by 37% compared to the R1 body-on-frame style.
Combine those examples, and many more, with growing scale as the lower price tag enables a mainstream consumer to purchase the R2, and it should have investors feeling optimistic that Rivian can one day be a self-funding and profitable company. Though it still has a long way to go.
High-margin potential Circling back to Rivian's lucrative joint venture with Volkswagen, it's important for investors to understand the potential of this business. Typically, legacy global automakers like Volkswagen buy parts from suppliers and write their own coding, but the deal with Rivian implies that Volkswagen has admitted its deficiencies in doing so and essentially gave up on its in-house software division.
Volkswagen isn't just buying Rivian motors or interior infotainment screens, either; Rivian is essentially selling its German joint venture partner its vehicle nervous system, operating system, and zonal architecture. This has given Rivian the potential to transform from a pure hardware manufacturer into a business that includes high-margin software and intellectual property licenses.
Thanks in large part to Volkswagen's partnership, Rivian's software segment operates at roughly 37% gross margin, which has become a crucial way to offset early-stage scaling and expenses.

What it all means Rivian still has a long road ahead to reward long-term shareholders, but these three reasons should give investors the belief that it can achieve that vision. Rivian has separated itself from rivals such as Lucid with capital discipline and the avoidance of severe shareholder dilution, tapped into high-margin software sales and cost-sharing with partnerships, and made significant progress on improving R2 unit economics ahead of the scale it hopes to soon build.
Rivian's road will still be tough, but it certainly has some unique attributes that separate it from many rivals.

Wall Street expects a year-over-year decline in earnings on higher revenues when Robinhood Markets, Inc. (HOOD - Free Report) reports results for the quarter ended June 2026. While this widely-known consensus outlook is important in gauging the company's earnings picture, a powerful factor that could impact its near-term stock price is how the actual results compare to these estimates.
The stock might move higher if these key numbers top expectations in the upcoming earnings report, which is expected to be released on July 29. On the other hand, if they miss, the stock may move lower.

Zacks Consensus EstimateThis company is expected to post quarterly earnings of $0.39 per share in its upcoming report, which represents a year-over-year change of -7.1%.
Revenues are expected to be $1.22 billion, up 23.6% from the year-ago quarter.
Estimate Revisions TrendThe consensus EPS estimate for the quarter has been revised 5.9% higher over the last 30 days to the current level. This is essentially a reflection of how the covering analysts have collectively reassessed their initial estimates over this period.

On the other hand, the stock currently carries a Zacks Rank of #3.
So, this combination indicates that Robinhood Markets will most likely beat the consensus EPS estimate.
Does Earnings Surprise History Hold Any Clue? While calculating estimates for a company's future earnings, analysts often consider to what extent it has been able to match past consensus estimates. So, it's worth taking a look at the surprise history for gauging its influence on the upcoming number.

Trimble Navigation (TRMB - Free Report) closed the last trading session at $51.85, gaining 5.4% over the past four weeks, but there could be plenty of upside left in the stock if short-term price targets set by Wall Street analysts are any guide. The mean price target of $79.83 indicates a 54% upside potential.
The mean estimate comprises 12 short-term price targets with a standard deviation of $13.18. While the lowest estimate of $55.00 indicates a 6.1% increase from the current price level, the most optimistic analyst expects the stock to surge 90.9% to reach $99.00. It's very important to note the standard deviation here, as it helps understand the variability of the estimates. The smaller the standard deviation, the greater the agreement among analysts.
While the consensus price target is a much-coveted metric for investors, solely banking on this metric to make an investment decision may not be wise at all. That's because the ability and unbiasedness of analysts in setting price targets have long been questionable.
But, for TRMB, an impressive average price target is not the only indicator of a potential upside. Strong agreement among analysts about the company's ability to report better earnings than they predicted earlier strengthens this view. While a positive trend in earnings estimate revisions doesn't gauge how much a stock could gain, it has proven to be powerful in predicting an upside.
Price, Consensus and EPS Surprise
Here's What You May Not Know About Analysts' Price TargetsAccording to researchers at several universities across the globe, a price target is one of many pieces of information about a stock that misleads investors far more often than it guides. In fact, empirical research shows that price targets set by several analysts, irrespective of the extent of agreement, rarely indicate where the price of a stock could actually be heading.
While Wall Street analysts have deep knowledge of a company's fundamentals and the sensitivity of its business to economic and industry issues, many of them tend to set overly optimistic price targets. Are you wondering why?
They usually do that to drum up interest in shares of companies that their firms either have existing business relationships with or are looking to be associated with. In other words, business incentives of firms covering a stock often result in inflated price targets set by analysts.
However, a tight clustering of price targets, which is represented by a low standard deviation, indicates that analysts have a high degree of agreement about the direction and magnitude of a stock's price movement. While that doesn't necessarily mean the stock will hit the average price target, it could be a good starting point for further research aimed at identifying the potential fundamental driving forces.
That said, while investors should not entirely ignore price targets, making an investment decision solely based on them could lead to disappointing ROI. So, price targets should always be treated with a high degree of skepticism.
Why TRMB Could Witness a Solid UpsideAnalysts' growing optimism over the company's earnings prospects, as indicated by strong agreement among them in revising EPS estimates higher, could be a legitimate reason to expect an upside in the stock. That's because empirical research shows a strong correlation between trends in earnings estimate revisions and near-term stock price movements.
Over the last 30 days, the Zacks Consensus Estimate for the current year has increased 0.3%, as one estimate has moved higher compared to no negative revision.
Moreover, TRMB currently has a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy), which means it is in the top 20% of more than 4,000 stocks that we rank based on four factors related to earnings estimates. Given an impressive externally-audited track record, this is a more conclusive indication of the stock's potential upside in the near term. You can see the complete list of today's Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy) stocks here >>>> .
Therefore, while the consensus price target may not be a reliable indicator of how much TRMB could gain, the direction of price movement it implies does appear to be a good guide.
Monday.com stock has crashed this year, mirroring the performance of other software companies. It has dropped by 51% this year and 44% in the last six months. This retreat continued today, July 22, when it announced that it would lay off 20% of its employees as it embraced AI in its operations.
Monday is a top software company used by thousands of people each day. It is used by over 60% of all companies in the Fortune 500, including popular names like Coca-Cola, Vistra, Universal Music Group, and Lionsgate.
It offers solutions in the CRM, IT support, and tools for developers using a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model. Most recently, it has launched a vibe coding solution that enables developers to build applications.
MNDY stock price has crashed this year amid concerns that software companies will be replaced with artificial intelligence (AI) tools. This explains why other popular SaaS companies like Adobe, Figma, ServiceNow, and Workday have plunged this year.
These fears grew this month after IBM published its financial results, which showed that customers were prioritizing hardware purchases over software. This trend continued today after reports emerged that it was laying off 20% of its workers.
Layoffs can be a sign that the management expects the company to deteriorate. In some cases, however, they can be a sign that the management has found a way to boost its profitability.
On the positive side, the most recent results showed that the company’s business was doing well. Its revenue jumped by 24% to $351 million as its customers paying over $50k a year rose by 32%. Those paying $100k a year rose to 1,844 from 1,328 in the same period last year.
The management expects that its transition to a consumption-based pricing model will help its revenue continue to grow. It introduced the new seats-plus-credits pricing structure for new customers. Its goal is to transition all existing customers to this system in the future.
Monday’s profits also continued growing, with its operating income hitting $49 million in the quarter. Analysts expect that its double digit growth will continue.
The average estimate is that its revenue rose by 18.9% in the second quarter to $355 million. They expect that its third quarter will rise by 17% to $370 million, while the annual figure will jump by 19% to $1.47 billion.
Monday, like other software companies, has also become highly undervalued, with its forward price-to-earnings ratio being 16. The S&P 500 Index has a multiple of 20. As such, there is a likelihood that the stock will bounce back as investors buy the dip.
Monday stock chart | Source: TradingView
The weekly chart shows that the MNDY stock price has retreated sharply this year. After peaking at $342 in February last year, it plunged to a low of $58 in April.
A closer look shows that the stock has always gapped lower after earnings. It has now landed to a crucial support level, which coincides with the lowest level in 2022.
On the positive side, the stock has formed an island reversal pattern, a sign that it may bounce back in the near term. If this happens, the next key level to watch will be at $100. A drop below the year-to-date low of $58 will point to more downside.
Monday.com (NASDAQ:MNDY) is cutting approximately 20% of its global workforce as the Israeli workplace software company restructures its operations around a shift toward AI-enabled collaboration between employees and autonomous agents.
The company will eliminate around 620 roles worldwide, according to a letter sent to employees by co-founders Roy Mann and Eran Zinman, who described the decision as the “most painful” since the company’s founding.
The company said some existing roles will change while new positions will be created as it focuses on expanding AI-related products and increasing customer support. The restructuring will include changes to sales and customer engagement operations, including deeper implementation support and greater on-site customer presence.
Monday.com said it expects to incur between $45 million and $55 million in net restructuring charges, primarily related to severance costs and office space reductions. The company plans to reinvest savings from the restructuring into AI engineering and product development.
Monday.com said the layoffs are not intended as a cost-cutting initiative or a direct replacement of employees with artificial intelligence, but instead reflect a broader organizational shift as the software industry adapts to changing customer expectations and AI-driven workflows.
“We entered a new era where AI is transforming the role of software, creating the greatest opportunity our industry has ever seen,” Mann and Zinman wrote in the letter.
“We have a new market to capture. Without a fundamental change in how we operate, we will not be able to compete and win that market.”
The restructuring comes as Monday.com moves from its traditional role as a platform for managing work toward what it describes as an AI-powered workspace where employees and AI agents work together to complete tasks.
“Over the past nine months, we have shifted our core vision moving from managing work to doing the work for our customers, with people and AI agents working together in one workspace,” the founders wrote.
The company said the transition requires changes beyond product development, including a new organizational structure designed around smaller, more autonomous teams and fewer management layers.
“It became clear that changing our strategy and product is not enough,” the founders said in the letter. “The organization we built for our previous chapter is not the organization that fits the new AI era.”
Around 350 of the affected positions are expected to be at Monday.com’s headquarters in Tel Aviv, with the remaining reductions spread across its global offices.
Alongside the restructuring announcement, Monday.com raised its full-year 2026 non-GAAP operating margin outlook to 15% from a previous forecast of 13%, while maintaining its revenue growth target of 19% to 20%.
Shares of Monday.com were little changed at $73 on Wednesday.
The market expects Chipotle Mexican Grill (CMG - Free Report) to deliver a year-over-year decline in earnings on higher revenues when it reports results for the quarter ended June 2026. This widely-known consensus outlook is important in assessing the company's earnings picture, but a powerful factor that might influence its near-term stock price is how the actual results compare to these estimates.
Zacks Consensus EstimateThis Mexican food chain is expected to post quarterly earnings of $0.32 per share in its upcoming report, which represents a year-over-year change of -3%.
Revenues are expected to be $3.32 billion, up 8.4% from the year-ago quarter.
Estimate Revisions TrendThe consensus EPS estimate for the quarter has been revised 0.34% higher over the last 30 days to the current level. This is essentially a reflection of how the covering analysts have collectively reassessed their initial estimates over this period.
Investors should keep in mind that an aggregate change may not always reflect the direction of estimate revisions by each of the covering analysts.

How Have the Numbers Shaped Up for Chipotle? For Chipotle, the Most Accurate Estimate is higher than the Zacks Consensus Estimate, suggesting that analysts have recently become bullish on the company's earnings prospects. This has resulted in an Earnings ESP of +0.84%.

Does Earnings Surprise History Hold Any Clue?Analysts often consider to what extent a company has been able to match consensus estimates in the past while calculating their estimates for its future earnings. Cabrera continued, "the reverse split does not change the underlying business, our customer relationships, our contract opportunities, our technology portfolio, or our long-term vision. Management believes shareholder value will continue to be driven by execution, innovation, and continued progress toward becoming a leading participant in the future space based solar power industry."

Higher-for-Longer Rates Could Reward These 3 Overlooked StocksCME Group NASDAQ: CME reported record second-quarter revenue and near-record trading activity, while executives used much of the company’s second-quarter 2026 earnings call to address investor questions about perpetual futures and outline a slate of new product launches.
Chairman and CEO Terry Duffy said second-quarter average daily volume was 29.8 million contracts, the second-highest second quarter in the company’s history and within 1% of the record set a year earlier. He said May and June were particularly strong following a difficult April comparison. Open interest ended the quarter up 8% from a year earlier and 16% since the start of 2026.

Gold, Silver, and Copper Are Surging—Here Are 3 Smart Ways to Play ItDuffy also said CME delivered record capital efficiencies, saving customers an average of more than $95 billion in margin per day. He said 94% of CME’s first-half volume came from institutional customers, a figure he used repeatedly to frame the company’s response to questions about perpetual futures.
Revenue Hits Second-Quarter Record Lynne said CME generated more than $1.7 billion in revenue during the second quarter, up 1% from the same period in 2025. She said that marked a second-quarter record and the company’s second-highest quarterly revenue total ever, behind the first quarter of 2026.
Capitalize on Volatility: 3 Finance Stocks Thriving in 2025The average rate per contract was $0.678, up $0.026 from the first quarter. Market data revenue rose 20% to $238 million, which Lynne said extended CME’s streak to 33 consecutive quarters of year-over-year market data revenue growth and marked the eighth straight quarter of record market data revenue.
Adjusted expenses were $521 million, or $412 million excluding license fees. Adjusted operating income totaled $1.2 billion, producing a 69.5% adjusted operating margin. Adjusted net income was $1.1 billion, and adjusted diluted earnings per share were $2.99, up 1% from the second quarter of 2025. Lynne said the adjusted net income margin was 63.4%.
CME returned $1.2 billion to shareholders in the quarter, including $468 million in regular quarterly dividends and $695 million through share repurchases.
For the first half of 2026, Lynne said volume was 10% ahead of the prior year, revenue increased 8% and adjusted diluted earnings per share rose 10%. She also said July volumes to date were tracking 18% ahead of the prior year.
Executives Push Back on Perpetual Futures Concerns Duffy said recent discussion of perpetual futures had overshadowed CME’s business performance. He argued that although the products are often described as futures, they function more like leveraged spot instruments and are not substitutes for the institutional hedging tools used by CME’s core customers.
“Perpetual futures are in no way substitutes for the institutional hedging tools that these customers rely on,” Duffy said. He said the products do not provide price or time certainty, which he called necessary components for hedging exposures.
Duffy said CME has the technical and operational capabilities to launch perpetual futures and has contract specifications ready if customer demand or market structure changes justify it. However, he said the company has not heard demand from its core customers. In response to a question from Jefferies analyst Dan Fannon, Duffy said he had spoken with senior executives and derivatives users at major institutional participants, including a large commercial energy firm, and was told they did not want CME to list the product.
Tim added that CME’s cryptocurrency business has continued to grow even as crypto perpetuals have existed outside the U.S. He said CME’s suite of cryptocurrency futures and options was up 44% in the first half of 2026 compared with the first half of 2025, and up 76% in June from a year earlier. He said CME was seeing between $4.5 billion and $6.5 billion per day in trading across its cryptocurrency complex, compared with about $270 million at a Bitcoin perpetual product introduced by Kalshi in July.
Duffy also raised concerns about whether perpetual products should be classified as swaps, citing the exchange of payments through funding rates. In response to Deutsche Bank analyst Brian Bedell, he said CME believes its litigation will show that such products are swaps, not futures.
New Products Include Crypto, Gold, Single Stock Futures and Compute Futures Duffy highlighted several product initiatives, including 24/7 trading for crypto futures, 24/7 trading for CME’s one-ounce gold contract, Single Stock futures, Treasury Link and Compute Futures.
He said Single Stock futures are scheduled to launch the following week and will simplify directional trading with capital efficiency. Duffy acknowledged that Single Stock futures had failed in an earlier market cycle but said timing is important and that current market conditions make the product more relevant.
Tim said CME’s equity complex has shown momentum, with second-quarter average daily volume of 8.6 million contracts, up 13% year over year. He said June equity volume was 10.1 million contracts, up 54% from a year earlier, while July volumes were running about 40% to 50% above July 2025. He also said the new Single Stock futures will be financially settled against the closing print of each stock.
Julie said retail brokers globally were “extremely excited” about the Single Stock futures launch and described the product as a significant retail growth catalyst. She said more than 35 retail partners were targeting readiness for day-one or week-one activity.
Duffy and Derek Sammann also discussed Compute Futures, which CME plans to launch in partnership with Silicon Data later in 2026. Sammann said the product will be a daily benchmark tracking the spot hourly rental cost of NVIDIA H100 GPUs. He said the contracts are intended to provide price discovery and risk-management tools for data centers, AI labs, cloud providers, asset managers, banks, energy firms, hedge funds and professional trading firms.
Market Data, Prediction Markets and Treasury Link On market data, Julie said CME’s second-quarter revenue benefited from pricing, professional subscriber growth, derived data revenue and growth in simulation trading device accounts. She said professional subscribers rose 3.5% quarter over quarter, while simulation trading device accounts were up 56% year over year. The quarter also included about $7 million in audits and catch-up payments for prior periods, compared with $3.8 million in the first quarter.
Asked about prediction markets, Lynne said CME has handled about 525 million event contracts since launch, including about 48 million contracts related to market events. She said more than 140,000 accounts traded event contracts during the quarter, up about 13% from the prior quarter, and average daily volume was above 4 million, up about 40% from the first quarter. Duffy said CME is being careful about its product set and repeated his view that some sports-related prediction markets resemble gambling.
At the end of the call, Duffy asked for additional commentary on Treasury Link, a planned fourth-quarter 2026 offering. Mike said Treasury Link will enable centralized spread trading between Treasury futures and BrokerTec cash Treasuries on CME Globex, using FX Link technology. He said the product is designed to connect two major U.S. Treasury liquidity pools and reduce execution lag risk in cash-futures spread transactions.
Duffy closed the call by emphasizing CME’s institutional base, capital efficiencies and product pipeline, saying the company remains focused on expanding its marketplace while maintaining protections and market integrity.

Shares of CME have returned -2% over the past month versus the Zacks S&P 500 composite's +0.3% change. The stock currently has a Zacks Rank #4 (Sell), indicating that it could underperform the broader market in the near term.
Zscaler (ZS - Free Report) has been one of the most searched-for stocks on Zacks.com lately. So, you might want to look at some of the facts that could shape the stock's performance in the near term.
Over the past month, shares of this cloud-based information security provider have returned +17.9%, compared to the Zacks S&P 500 composite's +0.3% change. During this period, the Zacks Security industry, which Zscaler falls in, has gained 15%. The key question now is: What could be the stock's future direction?
Although media reports or rumors about a significant change in a company's business prospects usually cause its stock to trend and lead to an immediate price change, there are always certain fundamental factors that ultimately drive the buy-and-hold decision.
Earnings Estimate RevisionsHere at Zacks, we prioritize appraising the change in the projection of a company's future earnings over anything else. That's because we believe the present value of its future stream of earnings is what determines the fair value for its stock.
Our analysis is essentially based on how sell-side analysts covering the stock are revising their earnings estimates to take the latest business trends into account. When earnings estimates for a company go up, the fair value for its stock goes up as well. And when a stock's fair value is higher than its current market price, investors tend to buy the stock, resulting in its price moving upward. Because of this, empirical studies indicate a strong correlation between trends in earnings estimate revisions and short-term stock price movements.
For the current quarter, Zscaler is expected to post earnings of $1.09 per share, indicating a change of +22.5% from the year-ago quarter. The Zacks Consensus Estimate remained unchanged over the last 30 days.
For the current fiscal year, the consensus earnings estimate of $4.14 points to a change of +26.2% from the prior year. Over the last 30 days, this estimate has remained unchanged.
For the next fiscal year, the consensus earnings estimate of $4.58 indicates a change of +10.7% from what Zscaler is expected to report a year ago. Over the past month, the estimate has changed +0.1%.
Having a strong externally audited track record, our proprietary stock rating tool, the Zacks Rank, offers a more conclusive picture of a stock's price direction in the near term, since it effectively harnesses the power of earnings estimate revisions. Due to the size of the recent change in the consensus estimate, along with three other factors related to earnings estimates, Zscaler is rated Zacks Rank #3 (Hold).
The chart below shows the evolution of the company's forward 12-month consensus EPS estimate:
12 Month EPS
Revenue Growth ForecastEven though a company's earnings growth is arguably the best indicator of its financial health, nothing much happens if it cannot raise its revenues. It's almost impossible for a company to grow its earnings without growing its revenue for long periods. Therefore, knowing a company's potential revenue growth is crucial.
In the case of Zscaler, the consensus sales estimate of $877.19 million for the current quarter points to a year-over-year change of +22%. The $3.33 billion and $3.9 billion estimates for the current and next fiscal years indicate changes of +24.6% and +17.2%, respectively.
Last Reported Results and Surprise HistoryZscaler reported revenues of $850.47 million in the last reported quarter, representing a year-over-year change of +25.4%. EPS of $1.08 for the same period compares with $0.84 a year ago.
Compared to the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $834.76 million, the reported revenues represent a surprise of +1.88%. The EPS surprise was +8%.
The company beat consensus EPS estimates in each of the trailing four quarters. The company topped consensus revenue estimates each time over this period.
ValuationNo investment decision can be efficient without considering a stock's valuation. Whether a stock's current price rightly reflects the intrinsic value of the underlying business and the company's growth prospects is an essential determinant of its future price performance.
While comparing the current values of a company's valuation multiples, such as price-to-earnings (P/E), price-to-sales (P/S), and price-to-cash flow (P/CF), with its own historical values helps determine whether its stock is fairly valued, overvalued, or undervalued, comparing the company relative to its peers on these parameters gives a good sense of the reasonability of the stock's price.
As part of the Zacks Style Scores system, the Zacks Value Style Score (which evaluates both traditional and unconventional valuation metrics) organizes stocks into five groups ranging from A to F (A is better than B; B is better than C; and so on), making it helpful in identifying whether a stock is overvalued, rightly valued, or temporarily undervalued.
Zscaler is graded F on this front, indicating that it is trading at a premium to its peers. Click here to see the values of some of the valuation metrics that have driven this grade.
ConclusionThe facts discussed here and much other information on Zacks.com might help determine whether or not it's worthwhile paying attention to the market buzz about Zscaler. However, its Zacks Rank #3 does suggest that it may perform in line with the broader market in the near term.

For new and old investors, taking full advantage of the stock market and investing with confidence are common goals. Zacks Premium provides lots of different ways to do both.
The research service features daily updates of the Zacks Rank and Zacks Industry Rank, full access to the Zacks #1 Rank List, Equity Research reports, and Premium stock screens, all of which will help you become a smarter, more confident investor.
Zacks Premium also includes the Zacks Style Scores.
What are the Zacks Style Scores? The Zacks Style Scores is a unique set of guidelines that rates stocks based on three popular investing types, and were developed as complementary indicators for the Zacks Rank. This combination helps investors choose securities with the highest chances of beating the market over the next 30 days.
Each stock is assigned a rating of A, B, C, D, or F based on their value, growth, and momentum characteristics. Just like in school, an A is better than a B, a B is better than a C, and so on -- that means the better the score, the better chance the stock will outperform.
The Style Scores are broken down into four categories:
Value ScoreFor value investors, it's all about finding good stocks at good prices, and discovering which companies are trading under their true value before the broader market catches on. The Value Style Score utilizes ratios like P/E, PEG, Price/Sales, Price/Cash Flow, and a host of other multiples to help pick out the most attractive and discounted stocks.
Growth ScoreGrowth investors, on the other hand, are more concerned with a company's financial strength and health, and its future outlook. The Growth Style Score examines things like projected and historic earnings, sales, and cash flow to find stocks that will experience sustainable growth over time.
Momentum ScoreMomentum investors, who live by the saying "the trend is your friend," are most interested in taking advantage of upward or downward trends in a stock's price or earnings outlook. Utilizing one-week price change and the monthly percentage change in earnings estimates, among other factors, the Momentum Style Score can help determine favorable times to buy high-momentum stocks.
VGM ScoreIf you like to use all three kinds of investing, then the VGM Score is for you. It's a combination of all Style Scores, and is an important indicator to use with the Zacks Rank. The VGM Score rates each stock on their shared weighted styles, narrowing down the companies with the most attractive value, best growth forecast, and most promising momentum.
How Style Scores Work with the Zacks Rank The Zacks Rank is a proprietary stock-rating model that harnesses the power of earnings estimate revisions, or changes to a company's earnings expectations, to help investors build a successful portfolio.
Investors can count on the Zacks Rank's success, with #1 (Strong Buy) stocks producing an unmatched +23.94% average annual return since 1988, more than double the S&P 500's performance. But the model rates a large number of stocks, and there are over 200 companies with a Strong Buy rank, plus another 600 with a #2 (Buy) rank, on any given day.
With more than 800 top-rated stocks to choose from, it can certainly feel overwhelming to pick the ones that are right for you and your investing journey.
That's where the Style Scores come in.
To have the best chance of big returns, you'll want to always consider stocks with a Zacks Rank #1 or #2 that also have Style Scores of A or B, which will give you the highest probability of success. If you're looking at stocks with a #3 (Hold) rank, it's important they have Scores of A or B as well to ensure as much upside potential as possible.
As mentioned above, the Scores are designed to work with the Zacks Rank, so any change to a company's earnings outlook should be a deciding factor when picking which stocks to buy.
For instance, a stock with a #4 (Sell) or #5 (Strong Sell) rating, even one that boasts Scores of A and B, still has a downward-trending earnings forecast, and a much greater likelihood its share price will decline as well.
Thus, the more stocks you own with a #1 or #2 Rank and Scores of A or B, the better.
Stock to Watch: Veeva Systems (VEEV - Free Report) Veeva Systems Inc. is headquartered in Pleasanton, CA and provides industry cloud solutions for the global life sciences market. Its offerings span cloud software, data, artificial intelligence capabilities and business consulting, supporting customers from research and development through commercialization. Veeva operates as a single reportable segment and groups revenues into Commercial Solutions and R&D and Quality Solutions.
VEEV is a #3 (Hold) on the Zacks Rank, with a VGM Score of B.
Additionally, the company could be a top pick for growth investors. VEEV has a Growth Style Score of B, forecasting year-over-year earnings growth of 11.7% for the current fiscal year.
For fiscal 2027, 10 analysts revised their earnings estimate upwards in the last 60 days, and the Zacks Consensus Estimate has increased $0.19 to $9.05 per share. VEEV boasts an average earnings surprise of +5.5%.
With a solid Zacks Rank and top-tier Growth and VGM Style Scores, VEEV should be on investors' short list.
Rocket Lab USA Inc (NASDAQ:RKLB) shares rose about 3% on Wednesday after the company secured a $266 million contract from the US Air Force and US Space Force to provide suborbital launch services.
The firm-fixed-price contract covers the launch of 12 suborbital vehicles, with options for six additional launches.
Operations will be conducted from the Pacific Spaceport Complex in Alaska and are expected to be completed by December 31, 2028.
The award supports the Department of Defense's responsive space capabilities program and is being managed by the Space Systems Command at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
According to the Department of Defense, the contract was awarded through a competitive acquisition process that received three offers.
The Pentagon said $112 million in fiscal 2025 research, development, test and evaluation funding is being obligated at the time of the award.
GE Vernova (GEV) continues to deliver strong earnings but couldn't clear the high bar investors had for the newest quarterly report. Diane King Hall talks more on those high expectations and how tariffs play a role in hindering guidance.
Rocket Lab's stock price jumped more than 3% after the company secured a major contract from the U.S. government. RKLB climbed to $72.15, about 12% above its lowest level this month. The key question now is whether this rebound marks the start of a sustained rally or is simply another dead-cat bounce.
RKLB stock jumped after the SpaceX competitor won a $266 million contract by the Department of War. This contract is for its suborbital launch services of 12 vehicles with six optional ones.
The order will be implemented at its the Pacific Spaceport Complex in Alaska and will be completed by December 2028
Rocket Lab has emerged as one of the fastest-growing companies in the space industry. In its last financial results, the company said that its revenue jumped by 63% to $200 million as its revenue backlog soared by 20% to $2.2 billion.
The company is benefiting from its Electron orders, which have continued rising in the past few months. It is also positioning in the hypersonic space, with its Hypersonic Accelerator Suborbital Test Electron (HASTE). This product will likely continue doing well as the US government continues to invest in hypersonic technology.
It is also seeing more orders of the Neutron platform, which is its medium-lift, reusable orbital rocket that will compete with SpaceX Falcon 9. It will be much bigger than Electron and will be reusable. It signed five new Neutron launches in the first quarter.
Rocket Lab’s business is booming such that it received more orders in the first quarter of the year than it did in the whole of last year.
The next key catalyst for the RKLB stock will be released early next month. These earnings are expected to show that its business did well in the last quarter as its revenue soared.
The average estimate is that its revenue rose by 59% to $230 million in the second quarter. For the year, analysts expect the revenue to come in at $918 million, up by 52% YoY.
In addition to the organic growth, the company is also focusing on acquisitions. It acquired Mynaric, which provides laser optical communications, Motiv Space Systems, and most recently, it bought Iridium, its biggest buyout on record.
Analysts have a bullish outlook for the RKLB stock. The average estimate is that its stock will jump to $110, much higher than the current $71. Some of the most bullish analysts are from companies like Citizens, Craig Hallum, and Roth Capital.

The weekly chart shows that the RKLB stock has pulled back sharply in the past few weeks. It dropped from a high of $151 in May to the current $71. It remains above the 100-week Exponential Moving Average (EMA).
The stock remains above the ascending trendline that connects the lowest swings in April, November, and July. It has always rebounded after hitting this support level.
It is also in the process of forming a harami candlestick pattern. Therefore, the stock will likely bounce back in the near term. If this happens, the next key level to watch will be the psychological level of $100.

That mattered more than the quarter’s headline beat. The call centered on execution against a record $105 billion backlog, continued defense demand, and confidence that recent program charges in Defense Systems and Space do not alter the company’s longer-term growth setup.
NOC Leans on Record BacklogChair, CEO and president Kathy Warden said the biggest takeaway from the quarter was the strength of bookings. Net awards reached $20 billion, driving a 1.84 book-to-bill ratio for the quarter and a new backlog record, which she tied directly to strong global demand and improving U.S. budget support.
Warden also said Northrop expects a full-year book-to-bill ratio of at least 1.25. That outlook underpins management’s view that sales growth should accelerate through the second half, rather than depend on a one-quarter spike.
The quarter itself provided enough support for that stance. Revenues rose 5% year over year to $10.88 billion, surpassing the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $10.80 billion. Adjusted earnings per share came in at $7.68, which beat the consensus mark of $6.84.
Northrop Raises the 2026 BarChief financial officer John Greene framed the guidance increase as an execution story, not just a tax benefit. Northrop lifted 2026 sales guidance to $43.75-$44.25 billion from $43.5-$44.0 billion and raised MTM-adjusted EPS guidance to $28.60-$29.10 from $27.40-$27.90.
Greene said the company still expects a second-half sales profile similar to last year, including mid- to high-single-digit revenue growth in the third quarter. He also reaffirmed segment operating income guidance and adjusted free cash flow guidance of $3.1 billion to $3.5 billion.
One nuance investors were focused on was the quality of the EPS raise. In response to a Bank of America question, Greene said lower taxes helped the quarter, but the higher full-year EPS view also reflects sales execution, stronger second-half margins and cost discipline.
NOC Balances Charges With Program MomentumTwo problem areas shaped the margin discussion. Defense Systems absorbed a $68 million unfavorable EAC adjustment on Stand-in Attack Weapon, while Space Systems took a $91 million unfavorable adjustment on GEM 63XL. Those issues pulled segment margins lower in the quarter.
Management spent considerable time arguing those charges are contained. Warden said GEM 63XL corrective actions now include a redesigned component that passed a static fire test, with redesigned motors expected to begin shipping by year-end.
On SiAW, Warden told a Bank of America analyst that delays in AARGM-ER testing flowed into design and qualification timing, but Northrop is adding resources and lab capacity to move through those issues. Greene added that excluding the missile prime investments, Defense Systems margins would have been closer to 11% in the quarter.
Northrop Highlights Growth PlatformsSentinel remained the clearest growth driver. Warden said further definitization and authorization on the Air Force program added $7.6 billion to the backlog, while recent contract incentives improved profitability and kept milestones on schedule ahead of an expected integrated missile first flight in 2027.
The company also pointed to rising missile demand beyond Sentinel. Warden said Northrop completed qualification work to become a PAC-3 solid rocket motor supplier and now has 10 multiyear missile acceleration agreements representing up to $10 billion of sales opportunity over seven years.
Space was another strategic emphasis. Management said national security space backlog now exceeds $16 billion, with that business expected to generate more than $7 billion in 2026 sales. Warden also reiterated the company’s goal to double annual international sales to $10 billion by 2031, with opportunities spanning Triton, IBCS and other platforms.
NOC Q&A Adds 2027 ClaritySeveral analyst questions pushed management on 2027, and the tone was notably constructive. Warden stopped short of offering a formal growth target, but told Wells Fargo that a record backlog, double-digit international growth and a better production mix support optimism heading into next year.
On B-21, she told UBS that the Air Force is evaluating whether to accelerate production into a larger program of record, with a conclusion expected by year-end. Greene separately said Aeronautics strength reflects both solid B-21 execution and favorable performance on mature production programs.
NASA’s shift away from its original Gateway plan also surfaced in Q&A. Warden said HALO will reduce revenues this year, but the work is being restructured into NASA’s updated plan and extended over a longer period.
Northrop Leaves a Clearer PlaybookThe broad message from management was that the company is investing through near-term friction because demand signals are strengthening. Warden repeatedly tied recent capacity and capability investments to backlog conversion, faster deliveries and longer-cycle growth across missiles, Aeronautics and space.
Greene reinforced that posture on capital allocation. He said higher capital spending remains necessary to support customer demand now, even as investors wait for a firmer free cash flow view for 2027 and 2028 later this year.
Zacks Signals to Watch on NOCNOC currently carries a Zacks Rank #4 (Sell), with a Value Score of C, Growth Score of C, Momentum Score of A and VGM Score of B, according to the provided Zacks data. Under Zacks’ framework, the strongest setups tend to pair a Zacks Rank #1 or #2 with Style Scores of A or B, while Rank #4 or #5 signals weaker estimate revision trends even when some Style Scores are favorable.
You can see the complete list of today’s Zacks #1 Rank (Strong Buy) stocks here.
That leaves a mixed signal after the quarter. The Momentum Score of A and VGM Score of B indicate stronger trading-style characteristics than the rank alone suggests, but the Zacks Rank remains the primary screen and can change as analysts revise estimates after the earnings report.
Key Takeaways KTOS is expanding unmanned systems and national security capabilities through contracts and acquisitions.LHX grew its backlog to a record $40.7B as demand rose for missile defense and space programs.Growth forecasts, valuation, ROE and price performance highlight key differences between the two stocks. Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. (KTOS - Free Report) and L3Harris Technologies (LHX - Free Report) operate in the U.S. aerospace and defense industry and are expected to benefit from the long-term increase in global defense spending. Governments around the world, particularly the United States and its allies, are increasing military budgets in response to rising geopolitical tensions and the need to modernize their armed forces. This favorable environment is creating strong demand for advanced defense technologies, including autonomous systems, missile defense, electronic warfare, communications and space-based capabilities. As a result, both companies are well-positioned to capitalize on these long-term defense spending trends, although they pursue different strategies within the sector.
Kratos Defense represents a higher-growth centered on next-generation defense technologies that could experience significant expansion over the coming decade. L3Harris represents a more diversified investment with established businesses, strong recurring cash flows and broad exposure across numerous defense programs.
Let's compare the stocks' fundamentals to determine which one is a better investment option at present.
Factors Acting in Favor of KTOS StockKratos Defense is the primary unmanned aerial target drone system provider for the U.S. Air Force, Navy, Army and several allied defense agencies. This position has led to multiple recent contracts and partnerships that are expanding its presence in the global UAS market, including a Counter-UAS award in March 2026 and teaming activity tied to the XQ-58A Valkyrie. In first-quarter 2026, Unmanned Systems revenues increased to $82.6 million from $63.1 million a year earlier, driven primarily by Valkyrie-related activity.
Kratos Defense is also investing in facilities and programs intended to support future production and test needs, including its hypersonic payload integration facility in Crane, IN, and additional initiatives cited in 2026 planning such as Helios and other engine and radar efforts. The recent Orbit and Nomad acquisitions add capabilities in satellite communications systems and connected mobile operations centers, extending the company’s addressable customer set within national security. Taken together, this mix reduces reliance on any single platform and supports a more durable order flow across cycles.
Factors Acting in Favor of LHX StockL3Harris’ space sensing and missile franchises remain aligned with priorities such as Golden Dome, missile defense and hypersonic tracking. In first-quarter 2026, the company delivered 1.4x book-to-bill on $7.8 billion of orders and grew backlog to a record $40.7 billion, which can support program ramps across the portfolio.
Beyond the U.S. market, L3Harris continues to see demand from allies as security priorities broaden across Europe, the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific region. In first-quarter 2026, international revenues totaled $1.29 billion across the portfolio, led by $761 million in Communications & Spectrum Dominance and $427 million in Space & Mission Systems. The quarter reflected increased international deliveries, including growth in international software-defined resilient communications and higher maritime program volume driven by program timing.

Key Takeaways Ondas is scaling through acquisitions, but the pace raises questions about integration and execution.Kratos is diversifying into hypersonics, space, missile systems, radar and microwave electronics.Valuation, estimate trends and steep share declines add more complexity to the choice between them. The global drone industry is rapidly evolving into one of the most strategically important sectors in defense, surveillance, logistics and autonomous warfare.
According to a report from Mordor Intelligence, the global drone tech market is expected to witness a CAGR of 9.3% from 2026 to 2031. The convergence of drones with artificial intelligence (“AI”), cloud computing and edge processing is further driving adoption across verticals.
Ondas Inc. (ONDS - Free Report) and Kratos Defense & Security Solutions (KTOS - Free Report) both operate in the defense and unmanned systems domain, but from very different positions in terms of scale and maturity.
For investors seeking exposure to this theme, the key question remains: which stock offers the better opportunity right now?
Let us do a deep dive into the companies’ competitive dynamics to understand which is better positioned in the industry.
ONDS: Robust M&A ActivityOndas, through rapid M&A, has built a multi-domain autonomy platform spanning Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance or ISR, c-UAS, loitering munitions/strike systems, unmanned ground vehicles and stratospheric sensing via World View acquisition.
DZYNE Technologies is the latest name in Ondas’ long list of acquisitions. The deal is valued at $875.8 million, comprising $200 million in cash and roughly $675 million in stock. DZYNE further expands Ondas’ reach across c-UAS, multi-domain ISR, precision strike and mission intelligence and autonomous systems. Both World View and DZYNE will operate within the company’s newly launched business division, Ondas Sentinel.
Following this development, Ondas now expects 2026 revenues to be at least $525 million from the previous forecast of $390 million. DZYNE is expected to contribute approximately $191 million in revenues in 2026 and $300 million in 2027.
This increase also reflects contributions from the Omnisys (adds AI-powered battlefield orchestration software to its autonomous defense systems portfolio) acquisition announced in May 2026. ONDS also announced the $125 million acquisition of Cyberhawk, a provider of drone-based infrastructure inspection and AI-powered asset intelligence in June 2026. In the first quarter, the company completed five acquisitions (World View, INDO Earth, Rotron Aerospace, Bird Aero and Mistral Inc).
This expanding reach is complemented by a rapidly growing opportunity set, including a $4.3 billion active pipeline and more than $1.6 billion in strategic program potential, as highlighted by management on the first quarter earnings call. Back then, management had noted that the current pipeline represents more than $500 million in potential annualized revenue opportunity.
The pipeline spans multiple operational domains, including aerial security, ISR and unmanned ground vehicles. The company is also targeting large-scale defense initiatives such as the LASSO program, which alone represents a potential opportunity nearing $1 billion. As of June 22, 2026, Ondas noted that second-quarter-to-date order activity stood at more than $150 million.
However, Ondas’ story is not without challenges. Extensive M&A amplifies risks, as so many acquisitions in such a short period can create integration overload and execution risks, as achieving targets depends on timely integration and conversion of backlog into revenues.
Ondas faces rising operating costs as it invests in personnel and infrastructure capabilities to capture additional market opportunities. Amid rising costs, management expects adjusted EBITDA losses to stay elevated in the second quarter of 2026, likely marking the peak loss period. Beyond that, ONDS expects improvement throughout the year, driven by higher revenues, gross profit and operational scale. Notably, management pulled forward the OAS EBITDA profitability target to the first quarter of 2027 — roughly six months ahead of the earlier target.
KTOS: Established Player in the Drone SpaceThe broader demand backdrop strongly supports sustained growth in Kratos’ drone business. Unlike ONDS, Kratos’ unmanned systems business involves scaled defense programs and vertical integration. At the heart of this business lies the XQ-58A Valkyrie combat collaborative aircraft (“CCA”), which has secured a key role in the U.S. defense ecosystem.
The company generated roughly $20 million in first-quarter 2026 revenues, predominantly from the Valkyrie tactical drone. Quarterly Unmanned Systems revenues came in at $82.6 million from $63.1 million a year earlier. KTOS is scaling its Valkyrie production capacity, aiming to produce 40 units per year by early 2028.
Additionally, the company is actively participating in multiple next-gen drone and CCA programs, with strong positioning in future procurement phases. Earlier in the year, Northrop Grumman, a KTOS partner, received the $230 million MUX TACAIR CCA program award, which will be split equally with Kratos. For this program, Northrop will equip its mission systems with Kratos Valkyrie CCA, validating Valkyrie’s operational relevance. KTOS is also working with Airbus to deliver a UCCA offering (Valkyrie + Airbus’ MARS mission system) for the German Air Force.
The company is also expanding its presence in C-UAS, a category expected to ramp significantly over the next few years. It recently secured a $156 million “sole-source, single-award Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract” from the U.S. Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration, Office of Secure Transportation (“OST”). Under the contract terms, KTOS will be delivering C-UAS platforms designed to safeguard OST's critical National Security mission.
Beyond drones, it is also expanding into other high-growth areas, diversifying the revenue stream. Management noted that its core businesses — hypersonics, unmanned systems, drones, propulsion systems, space and satellite systems, air defense, missile systems, radar, C-UAS and microwave electronics — align directly with U.S. defense priorities and are supported under the planned $1.5 trillion 2027 national security budget. The vast scope of its business ensures benefits from multiple high-growth vectors rather than reliance on drones.
That said, near-term execution remains uneven. The unmanned segment is inherently lumpy, with management guiding to a sequential step-down in unmanned systems’ revenues in the second quarter of 2026 due to shipment timing and production mix. Aggressive expansion across multiple domains brings along operational and execution risks. Heavy dependence on government contracts and volatile macroeconomic conditions, including supply-chain disruptions, remains concerning.

Coursera (COUR - Free Report) is expected to deliver a year-over-year decline in earnings on higher revenues when it reports results for the quarter ended June 2026.
While management's discussion of business conditions on the earnings call will mostly determine the sustainability of the immediate price change and future earnings expectations, it's worth having a handicapping insight into the odds of a positive EPS surprise.
Zacks Consensus EstimateThis online learning platform is expected to post quarterly earnings of $0.11 per share in its upcoming report, which represents a year-over-year change of -8.3%.
Revenues are expected to be $294.06 million, up 57.2% from the year-ago quarter.
Estimate Revisions TrendThe consensus EPS estimate for the quarter has been revised 2933.33% higher over the last 30 days to the current level. This is essentially a reflection of how the covering analysts have collectively reassessed their initial estimates over this period.
Investors should keep in mind that an aggregate change may not always reflect the direction of estimate revisions by each of the covering analysts.
How Have the Numbers Shaped Up for Coursera? For Coursera, the Most Accurate Estimate is the same as the Zacks Consensus Estimate, suggesting that there are no recent analyst views which differ from what have been considered to derive the consensus estimate. This has resulted in an Earnings ESP of 0%.
On the other hand, the stock currently carries a Zacks Rank of #2.
So, this combination makes it difficult to conclusively predict that Coursera will beat the consensus EPS estimate.
Does Earnings Surprise History Hold Any Clue?Analysts often consider to what extent a company has been able to match consensus estimates in the past while calculating their estimates for its future earnings. So, it's worth taking a look at the surprise history for gauging its influence on the upcoming number.
For the last reported quarter, it was expected that Coursera would post earnings of $0.09 per share when it actually produced earnings of $0.07, delivering a surprise of -22.22%.
Over the last four quarters, the company has beaten consensus EPS estimates two times.
Coursera doesn't appear a compelling earnings-beat candidate. However, investors should pay attention to other factors too for betting on this stock or staying away from it ahead of its earnings release.
Expected Results of an Industry PlayerAmong the stocks in the Zacks Technology Services industry, Mirion Technologies, Inc. (MIR - Free Report) , is soon expected to post earnings of $0.1 per share for the quarter ended June 2026. This estimate indicates a year-over-year change of -9.1%. This quarter's revenue is expected to be $272.14 million, up 22.1% from the year-ago quarter.
The consensus EPS estimate for Mirion Technologies has been revised 1.6% higher over the last 30 days to the current level. However, a higher Most Accurate Estimate has resulted in an Earnings ESP of +7.84%.
This Earnings ESP, combined with its Zacks Rank #4 (Sell), makes it difficult to conclusively predict that Mirion Technologies will beat the consensus EPS estimate. Over the last four quarters, the company surpassed consensus EPS estimates two times.

Key Takeaways Interactive Brokers posted record revenues and pretax income while holding pretax margin at 77%.Accounts rose 34% to 5.19 million, while client equity climbed 40% to $930.3 billion.New offerings in Korea, European crypto and AI account connectivity broadened the platform. Interactive Brokers Group, Inc. (IBKR - Free Report) used its second-quarter 2026 call to press a familiar point with more force: the company is scaling fast without giving up profitability. Management highlighted record revenues, pretax income, accounts, client equity and DARTs, while keeping pretax margin at 77%.
That combination mattered more than the earnings beat alone. The call centered on how account growth, product expansion and rising client engagement are widening the firm’s reach across retail, institutional and global markets.
IBKR Keeps Pairing Scale With MarginIBKR reported adjusted earnings of $0.69 per share on net revenues of $1.88 billion, ahead of the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $0.64 and $1.79 billion, respectively. That translated to surprise rates of 7.81% on earnings and 5.14% on revenues.
Chief financial officer Paul Brody said the quarter produced another set of revenue and pretax income records, with commissions up 30% and net interest income up 23% from a year earlier. He tied that performance to stronger trading activity, higher customer balances and continued growth in margin borrowing.
The profitability message was just as important. Pretax margin held at 77%, extending a multiquarter stretch above 70%, a sign that Interactive Brokers is still converting volume and account growth into earnings efficiently.
Interactive Brokers Pushes New Products AbroadDirector of Investor Relations Nancy Stuebe, delivering chief executive officer Milan Galik’s prepared remarks, emphasized that the company used the quarter to widen product access and deepen international reach. New offerings included trading in Korea, broader crypto availability in Europe and a unified prediction markets destination.
Management also spotlighted IBKR Connector, launched with Anthropic, OpenAI and xAI, which lets clients connect AI chatbots directly to their brokerage accounts for research, portfolio review and trade preparation. That product stood out as one of the clearest strategic priorities on the call.
The company added that it received preliminary conditional approval from the OCC for a national trust bank charter, which would support direct custody for mutual fund and ETF customers. That points to a broader effort to expand the platform beyond core brokerage execution.
IBKR Sees Broad-Based Client MomentumManagement made clear that this quarter’s growth was not coming from a single pocket. Customer accounts rose 34% to 5.19 million, customer equity climbed 40% to $930.3 billion and total customer DARTs increased 36% to 4.82 million.
Brody said investors were taking on more risk through margin loans and derivatives, while uninvested cash balances still reached a record $182.4 billion. That balance between active trading and rising idle cash gave the company support across both commission and interest-related revenue streams.
The quarter also showed strength in overnight trading and introducing broker activity. Galik said growth is coming across regions and client types, while the introducing broker pipeline remained healthy with another double-digit number of integrations going live.
Interactive Brokers Frames Rate Risk CarefullyNet interest remained a major driver, but management spent time explaining the moving pieces. Brody said higher balances in margin loans and segregated cash more than offset pressure from higher interest paid on customer cash and a lower average Fed funds rate.
The release showed customer margin loans up 67% to $108.5 billion and customer credits up 27% to $182.4 billion, helping net interest income reach $1.06 billion in the quarter. At the same time, reported net interest margin slipped to 1.93% from 2.07% a year earlier.
Brody also offered a clear sensitivity framework: a 25-basis-point move in Fed funds would change annual net interest income by about $81 million, while a similar move across relevant non-U.S. benchmark rates would shift annual net interest income by about $38 million.
IBKR Q&A Highlights Confidence and RestraintThe analyst Q&A added useful texture around growth durability. Asked by Wolfe Research about heavier marketing spend and whether that supports sustainably faster account growth, Founder and Chairman Thomas Peterffy said returns on marketing are roughly proportional to the added expense, though he was careful not to promise a higher long-term growth target.
On capital, a Goldman Sachs analyst asked about excess capital and acquisitions. Galik said excess capital was about $10.3 billion, up roughly $1.1 billion from the prior quarter, but added that none of the acquisition ideas being pitched had stood out enough to pursue.
The Q&A also showed management leaning into newer businesses without overreaching. Executives described strong early traction in Korea, growing use of AI account connectivity and continued focus in prediction markets on economic, political and climate contracts rather than sports or entertainment.
Interactive Brokers Leaves a Clear MessageComing out of the call, management’s posture was straightforward. The company is still centered on automation, low costs and global product breadth, but it is increasingly pairing that model with faster rollout of new tools and market access.
Just as important, executives sounded comfortable with current risk levels. Peterffy said the firm is closely monitoring client leverage and remains comfortable with margin exposure, while Galik described account and asset growth as broad and healthy across the platform.
Zacks Signals Point to Solid Near-Term SetupIBKR currently carries a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy), along with a Value Score of C, Growth Score of B, Momentum Score of A and a VGM Score of B. Under the Zacks framework, Rank #1 (Strong Buy) and 2 stocks paired with a Style Score of A or B offer the strongest potential for outperformance over the next one to three months, and IBKR’s Momentum and VGM readings are favorable on that measure. You can see the complete list of today’s Zacks #1 Rank stocks here.
The mixed Value Score suggests the stock does not screen as strongly on valuation as it does on growth and momentum characteristics. Even so, Zacks signals are not static, and the current rank can change as earnings estimate revisions adjust in the wake of the quarter’s results.
Woodward (WWD - Free Report) is expected to deliver a year-over-year increase in earnings on higher revenues when it reports results for the quarter ended June 2026. This widely-known consensus outlook gives a good sense of the company's earnings picture, but how the actual results compare to these estimates is a powerful factor that could impact its near-term stock price.
The earnings report, which is expected to be released on July 29, might help the stock move higher if these key numbers are better than expectations. On the other hand, if they miss, the stock may move lower.
While the sustainability of the immediate price change and future earnings expectations will mostly depend on management's discussion of business conditions on the earnings call, it's worth handicapping the probability of a positive EPS surprise.
Zacks Consensus EstimateThis maker of cockpit controls and other equipment for the defense and aerospace markets is expected to post quarterly earnings of $2.39 per share in its upcoming report, which represents a year-over-year change of +35.8%.
Revenues are expected to be $1.11 billion, up 21.7% from the year-ago quarter.
Estimate Revisions TrendThe consensus EPS estimate for the quarter has been revised 0.21% lower over the last 30 days to the current level. This is essentially a reflection of how the covering analysts have collectively reassessed their initial estimates over this period.
Investors should keep in mind that an aggregate change may not always reflect the direction of estimate revisions by each of the covering analysts.

How Have the Numbers Shaped Up for Woodward? For Woodward, the Most Accurate Estimate is higher than the Zacks Consensus Estimate, suggesting that analysts have recently become bullish on the company's earnings prospects. This has resulted in an Earnings ESP of +5.10%.
On the other hand, the stock currently carries a Zacks Rank of #2.
So, this combination indicates that Woodward will most likely beat the consensus EPS estimate.
Does Earnings Surprise History Hold Any Clue?Analysts often consider to what extent a company has been able to match consensus estimates in the past while calculating their estimates for its future earnings. So, it's worth taking a look at the surprise history for gauging its influence on the upcoming number.
For the last reported quarter, it was expected that Woodward would post earnings of $2 per share when it actually produced earnings of $2.27, delivering a surprise of +13.50%.
Over the last four quarters, the company has beaten consensus EPS estimates four times.

Each stock is given an alphabetic rating of A, B, C, D or F based on their value, growth, and momentum qualities. With this system, an A is better than a B, a B is better than a C, and so on, meaning the better the score, the better chance the stock will outperform.
Growth ScoreGrowth investors are more concerned with a stock's future prospects, and the overall financial health and strength of a company. Thus, the Growth Style Score analyzes characteristics like projected and historic earnings, sales, and cash flow to find stocks that will see sustainable growth over time.
Momentum ScoreMomentum trading is all about taking advantage of upward or downward trends in a stock's price or earnings outlook, and these investors live by the saying "the trend is your friend." The Momentum Style Score can pinpoint good times to build a position in a stock, using factors like one-week price change and the monthly percentage change in earnings estimates.
VGM ScoreIf you want a combination of all three Style Scores, then the VGM Score will be your friend. It rates each stock on their combined weighted styles, helping you find the companies with the most attractive value, best growth forecast, and most promising momentum. It's also one of the best indicators to use with the Zacks Rank.
How Style Scores Work with the Zacks Rank A proprietary stock-rating model, the Zacks Rank utilizes the power of earnings estimate revisions, or changes to a company's earnings outlook, to help investors create a successful portfolio.
But it can feel overwhelming to pick the right stocks for you and your investing goals with over 800 top-rated stocks to choose from.
That's where the Style Scores come in.
To maximize your returns, you want to buy stocks with the highest probability of success. This means picking stocks with a Zacks Rank #1 or #2 that also have Style Scores of A or B. If you find yourself looking at stocks with a #3 (Hold) rank, make sure they have Scores of A or B as well to ensure as much upside potential as possible.
Since the Scores were created to work together with the Zacks Rank, the direction of a stock's earnings estimate revisions should be a key factor when choosing which stocks to buy.
Here's an example: a stock with a #4 (Sell) or #5 (Strong Sell) rating, even one with Style Scores of A and B, still has a downward-trending earnings outlook, and a bigger chance its share price will decrease too.
Thus, the more stocks you own with a #1 or #2 Rank and Scores of A or B, the better.

The market expects OneMain Holdings (OMF - Free Report) to deliver a year-over-year decline in earnings on higher revenues when it reports results for the quarter ended June 2026. This widely-known consensus outlook is important in assessing the company's earnings picture, but a powerful factor that might influence its near-term stock price is how the actual results compare to these estimates.
The stock might move higher if these key numbers top expectations in the upcoming earnings report, which is expected to be released on July 29. On the other hand, if they miss, the stock may move lower.
While management's discussion of business conditions on the earnings call will mostly determine the sustainability of the immediate price change and future earnings expectations, it's worth having a handicapping insight into the odds of a positive EPS surprise.
Zacks Consensus EstimateThis consumer finance company is expected to post quarterly earnings of $1.31 per share in its upcoming report, which represents a year-over-year change of -9.7%.

Estimate Revisions TrendThe consensus EPS estimate for the quarter has been revised 0.7% lower over the last 30 days to the current level. This is essentially a reflection of how the covering analysts have collectively reassessed their initial estimates over this period.
Investors should keep in mind that an aggregate change may not always reflect the direction of estimate revisions by each of the covering analysts.
Price, Consensus and EPS Surprise
Earnings WhisperEstimate revisions ahead of a company's earnings release offer clues to the business conditions for the period whose results are coming out. Our proprietary surprise prediction model -- the Zacks Earnings ESP (Expected Surprise Prediction) -- has this insight at its core.
How Have the Numbers Shaped Up for OneMain? For OneMain, the Most Accurate Estimate is the same as the Zacks Consensus Estimate, suggesting that there are no recent analyst views which differ from what have been considered to derive the consensus estimate. This has resulted in an Earnings ESP of 0%.
On the other hand, the stock currently carries a Zacks Rank of #4.
So, this combination makes it difficult to conclusively predict that OneMain will beat the consensus EPS estimate.
Does Earnings Surprise History Hold Any Clue?Analysts often consider to what extent a company has been able to match consensus estimates in the past while calculating their estimates for its future earnings. So, it's worth taking a look at the surprise history for gauging its influence on the upcoming number.
For the last reported quarter, it was expected that OneMain would post earnings of $1.92 per share when it actually produced earnings of $1.95, delivering a surprise of +1.56%.
Over the last four quarters, the company has beaten consensus EPS estimates four times.
OneMain doesn't appear a compelling earnings-beat candidate. However, investors should pay attention to other factors too for betting on this stock or staying away from it ahead of its earnings release.

Zacks Consensus EstimateThis heating and cooling company is expected to post quarterly earnings of $4.40 per share in its upcoming report, which represents a year-over-year change of -2.7%.
Revenues are expected to be $2.17 billion, up 5.3% from the year-ago quarter.
Estimate Revisions TrendThe consensus EPS estimate for the quarter has been revised 0.87% higher over the last 30 days to the current level. This is essentially a reflection of how the covering analysts have collectively reassessed their initial estimates over this period.
Investors should keep in mind that the direction of estimate revisions by each of the covering analysts may not always get reflected in the aggregate change.

Antero Resources (AR - Free Report) is expected to deliver a year-over-year increase in earnings on higher revenues when it reports results for the quarter ended June 2026.

For new and old investors, taking full advantage of the stock market and investing with confidence are common goals. Zacks Premium provides lots of different ways to do both.
The popular research service can help you become a smarter, more self-assured investor, giving you access to daily updates of the Zacks Rank and Zacks Industry Rank, the Zacks #1 Rank List, Equity Research reports, and Premium stock screens.
Each stock is given an alphabetic rating of A, B, C, D or F based on their value, growth, and momentum qualities. With this system, an A is better than a B, a B is better than a C, and so on, meaning the better the score, the better chance the stock will outperform.
The Style Scores are broken down into four categories:
Value ScoreFinding good stocks at good prices, and discovering which companies are trading under their true value, are what value investors like to focus on. So, the Value Style Score takes into account ratios like P/E, PEG, Price/Sales, Price/Cash Flow, and a host of other multiples to highlight the most attractive and discounted stocks.
This totals more than 800 top-rated stocks, and it can be overwhelming to try and pick the best stocks for you and your portfolio.
Since the Scores were created to work together with the Zacks Rank, the direction of a stock's earnings estimate revisions should be a key factor when choosing which stocks to buy.
A stock with a #4 (Sell) or #5 (Strong Sell) rating, for instance, even one with Scores of A and B, will still have a declining earnings forecast, and a greater chance its share price will fall too.
Thus, the more stocks you own with a #1 or #2 Rank and Scores of A or B, the better.

During this period, the Zacks Medical - Dental Supplies industry, which McKesson falls in, has gained 5.9%. The key question now is: What could be the stock's future direction?
Although media reports or rumors about a significant change in a company's business prospects usually cause its stock to trend and lead to an immediate price change, there are always certain fundamental factors that ultimately drive the buy-and-hold decision.
Revisions to Earnings EstimatesHere at Zacks, we prioritize appraising the change in the projection of a company's future earnings over anything else. That's because we believe the present value of its future stream of earnings is what determines the fair value for its stock.
We essentially look at how sell-side analysts covering the stock are revising their earnings estimates to reflect the impact of the latest business trends. And if earnings estimates go up for a company, the fair value for its stock goes up. A higher fair value than the current market price drives investors' interest in buying the stock, leading to its price moving higher. This is why empirical research shows a strong correlation between trends in earnings estimate revisions and near-term stock price movements.
McKesson is expected to post earnings of $9.59 per share for the current quarter, representing a year-over-year change of +16.1%. Over the last 30 days, the Zacks Consensus Estimate has changed +0.2%.
For the current fiscal year, the consensus earnings estimate of $44.28 points to a change of +13.2% from the prior year. Over the last 30 days, this estimate has remained unchanged.
For the next fiscal year, the consensus earnings estimate of $49.96 indicates a change of +12.8% from what McKesson is expected to report a year ago. Over the past month, the estimate has remained unchanged.
With an impressive externally audited track record, our proprietary stock rating tool -- the Zacks Rank -- is a more conclusive indicator of a stock's near-term price performance, as it effectively harnesses the power of earnings estimate revisions. The size of the recent change in the consensus estimate, along with three other factors related to earnings estimates, has resulted in a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy) for McKesson.
In the case of McKesson, the consensus sales estimate of $104.39 billion for the current quarter points to a year-over-year change of +6.7%. The $432.77 billion and $465.12 billion estimates for the current and next fiscal years indicate changes of +7.3% and +7.5%, respectively.
Last Reported Results and Surprise HistoryMcKesson reported revenues of $96.3 billion in the last reported quarter, representing a year-over-year change of +6%. EPS of $11.69 for the same period compares with $10.12 a year ago.
Compared to the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $101.92 billion, the reported revenues represent a surprise of -5.52%. The EPS surprise was +1.12%.
The company beat consensus EPS estimates in each of the trailing four quarters. The company topped consensus revenue estimates two times over this period.
ValuationWithout considering a stock's valuation, no investment decision can be efficient. In predicting a stock's future price performance, it's crucial to determine whether its current price correctly reflects the intrinsic value of the underlying business and the company's growth prospects.
Comparing the current value of a company's valuation multiples, such as its price-to-earnings (P/E), price-to-sales (P/S), and price-to-cash flow (P/CF), to its own historical values helps ascertain whether its stock is fairly valued, overvalued, or undervalued, whereas comparing the company relative to its peers on these parameters gives a good sense of how reasonable its stock price is.
The Zacks Value Style Score (part of the Zacks Style Scores system), which pays close attention to both traditional and unconventional valuation metrics to grade stocks from A to F (an A is better than a B; a B is better than a C; and so on), is pretty helpful in identifying whether a stock is overvalued, rightly valued, or temporarily undervalued.
McKesson is graded A on this front, indicating that it is trading at a discount to its peers. Click here to see the values of some of the valuation metrics that have driven this grade.
Bottom LineThe facts discussed here and much other information on Zacks.com might help determine whether or not it's worthwhile paying attention to the market buzz about McKesson. However, its Zacks Rank #2 does suggest that it may outperform the broader market in the near term.
Key Takeaways Capital One's adjusted Q2 earnings rose to $5.81 per share, beating the $4.85 estimate.Revenues climbed 27% as net interest income rose 24% and non-interest income jumped 39%.Provisions fell 74%, aided by favorable Domestic Card credit trends and a $662 million reserve release. Capital One Financial’s (COF - Free Report) second-quarter 2026 adjusted earnings of $5.81 per share significantly outpaced the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $4.85. The bottom line was up from $5.48 in the prior-year quarter.
Results benefited from a rise in net interest income (NII) and non-interest income, along with a substantial decline in provisions. Loan growth and improvement in net interest margin (NIM) were other positives. However, higher expenses and a sequential decline in deposits were undermining factors.
Results excluded acquisition-related amortization expenses and Discover Financial and Brex integration costs. Including these, net income available to common stockholders (GAAP basis) was $2.94 billion or $4.73 per share against a net loss available to common stockholders of $4.34 billion or $8.58 per share in the prior-year quarter.
Capital One’s Revenues Increase, Expenses RiseTotal net revenues were $15.85 billion, rising 27% year over year. Also, the top line beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $15.7 billion.
NII was $12.37 billion, up 24% from the prior-year quarter. NIM expanded 39 basis points (bps) to 8.01%.
Non-interest income was $3.48 billion, jumping 39%. This was driven by higher net discount and interchange fees, service charges and other customer-related fees and other income.
Non-interest expense was $9.04 billion, up 29%. The increase reflected a rise in salaries and associate benefits, occupancy and equipment costs, marketing expenses, communications and data-processing costs, amortization of intangibles and other expenses.
The efficiency ratio was 57.05%, falling from 55.96% in the prior-year quarter. A rise in the efficiency ratio indicates lower profitability.
As of June 30, 2026, loans held for investment were $457.17 billion, up 2% from the prior quarter. Total deposits were $484.26 billion, down 1% sequentially.
COF’s Credit Quality ImprovesProvision for credit losses was $2.99 billion, down 74% year over year. The allowance for credit losses, as a percentage of loans held for investment, was 5.02%, down 41 bps.
The 30-plus-day performing delinquency rate was 2.91%, down 22 bps year over year. The 30-plus-day delinquency rate was 3.13%, down 19 bps. The quarter included a $662-million loan reserve release, primarily driven by favorable credit performance in Domestic Card.
On the other hand, net charge-offs (NCOs) were $3.64 billion, rising 19% year over year.
COF’s Capital Ratios DeclineAs of June 30, 2026, the common equity Tier 1 capital ratio was 13.7%, down from 14% in the prior-year quarter. The Tier 1 capital ratio was 14.8%, down from 15.1% a year ago.
Capital One’s Share Repurchase UpdateDuring the reported quarter, Capital One repurchased 14 million shares for $2.7 billion.
Our Viewpoint on Capital OneStrategic expansion efforts, demand for consumer loans, favorable changes in interest rates and steady improvement in the card business are expected to support Capital One well for long-term growth. The integration of Discover is progressing, while the acquisition of Brex is expected to strengthen its credit card operations. However, elevated expenses and a tough macroeconomic backdrop are major near-term concerns.
Currently, Capital One carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold). You can see the complete list of today’s Zacks #1 Rank (Strong Buy) stocks here.
Performance and Earnings Expectations of COF’s PeersAlly Financial’s (ALLY - Free Report) second-quarter 2026 adjusted earnings of $1.21 per share lagged the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.25. However, the bottom line reflected a 22% jump from the year-ago quarter.
Results were primarily hampered by higher expenses and provisions. However, growth in net financing revenues and other revenues, an increase in loan balances and an improvement in NIM offered support to some extent.
Navient (NAVI - Free Report) is scheduled to announce quarterly numbers on Aug. 6.
In the past seven days, the Zacks Consensus Estimate for Navient’s quarterly earnings has remained unchanged at 19 cents. This indicates a 9.5% decline from the prior-year reported number.
Key Takeaways Capital One is 14 months into its 24-month Discover integration and on track for $2.5B in synergies. Discover's loan brownout may bottom in Q4 as front- and back-book migrations advance. Capital One sees a third-quarter NIM catch-up, while Brex delivers early funding and lead-sharing benefits. Capital One Financial Corporation (COF - Free Report) used its second-quarter 2026 earnings call to keep investors focused on integration execution rather than headline earnings. Management’s central message was that Discover and Brex are already contributing, while the bigger payoff still sits on the other side of platform conversions.
That framing mattered because the quarter mixed strong credit, revenue growth and an earnings beat against a still-temporary Discover loan “brownout,” elevated investment spending and a lower capital ratio.
Second-quarter net income was $3 billion, or $4.73 per share. Adjusted earnings per share (EPS) were $5.81 after acquisition-related items. Adjusted EPS topped the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $4.85. Revenues rose 4% from the first quarter to $15.85 billion, beating the consensus estimate of $15.7 billion.
Richard Fairbank, founder, chairman, chief executive officer and president, kept the emphasis on Discover integration. He said Capital One is now 14 months into its planned 24-month integration, has completed the conversion of Capital One debit customers to the Discover network and has already captured the full quarterly run-rate of debit revenue synergies.
He added that second-quarter results included about one-third of the announced operating expense synergies and that the company remains on track for the full $2.5 billion target. That kept the call centered on timing and execution rather than on revisiting the strategic logic of the deal.
Capital One Balances Brownout and GrowthA Barclays analyst pressed management on when Discover card growth should reaccelerate. Fairbank said the current slowdown reflects Discover’s prior cutbacks in originations and line management, plus Capital One’s own tighter approach in parts of the portfolio, especially around high-balance revolvers.
He described that pressure as temporary and laid out the conversion schedule in more concrete terms than in prepared remarks. Fairbank said 50% of Discover originations are already on Capital One’s tech stack, with full front-book migration expected by the end of the third quarter.
The back book will move in waves during July, October and January, with full migration expected in the first quarter of next year. Fairbank said the bottom of the brownout should come around the fourth quarter of this year, after which Capital One expects its underwriting and spender-focused capabilities to support a return to growth.
COF Sees Early Brex BenefitsBrex was the other major strategic topic. Responding to Barclays, Fairbank said the company is more than 100 days into ownership and remains highly encouraged by Brex’s position in corporate cards, its infrastructure and its talent base.
He said Brex is already benefiting from Capital One’s brand, lower funding costs on the balance sheet and a new lead-sharing program across businesses. Management characterized the early results from that pipeline as promising, though the broader marketing and product push will take more integration work.
Fairbank also said Brex capabilities should eventually strengthen Capital One’s small-business card offering. For now, he framed most of the work as foundational, with more visible commercial impact still ahead.
Capital One Points to NIM Catch-UpChief financial officer Andrew Young gave one of the clearest pieces of near-term operating commentary in the Q&A. He said second-quarter net interest margin rose to 8.01%, helped by lower retail deposit costs and lower average cash, but ending cash fell much faster than average cash during the quarter.
That led him to point to a third-quarter “catch-up” in margin as average balances reflect the lower ending cash position. He also reminded investors that each quarter in the back half of the year carries one additional day, worth a 9-basis-point tailwind to NIM.
Young kept the outlook measured by noting that balance-sheet changes and rate moves can still affect margin in the short run. Even so, his comments gave investors a more specific bridge into the next quarter than most other parts of the call.
COF Defends Investment-Led EfficiencyQuestions from KBW and Goldman Sachs focused on whether heavier spending could erode the economics of the Discover deal. Fairbank’s answer was consistent. Efficiency will remain pressured by technology, AI, Brex and travel investments, but management still expects earnings power after integration to align with what it outlined when the Discover deal was announced.
That stance was backed by operating context from the quarter. Total non-interest expense rose 7% sequentially to $9.0 billion, including an 11% increase in marketing, while Domestic Card expense rose 38% from a year earlier and companywide marketing climbed to about $1.7 billion.
Management did not offer a tighter efficiency target. Instead, Fairbank argued that the better way to judge the combined company is by the earnings power and growth capacity that should emerge once the integrations and tech investments mature.
Capital One Sticks to Long-Term PrioritiesCapital management added another layer of restraint. A Goldman Sachs analyst asked whether buybacks could step up now that the major deal work is done, but Young said the company still views 11% as a long-term capital need, not a target to rush toward.
He said that view reflects internal modeling, growth plans, earnings accretion, regulatory uncertainty, stock price and macro conditions. The quarter ended with a common equity Tier 1 ratio of 13.7%, down 70 basis points from the first quarter, after buybacks, Brex and higher risk-weighted assets.
Taken together, the call left a clear impression of a company willing to accept near-term noise in exchange for integration, distribution and technology gains it believes will define the next leg of returns.
Zacks Signals for COFCOF carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold), along with a Value Score of A, Growth Score of C, Momentum Score of B and VGM Score of B, based on the provided Zacks data. That combination points to favorable value characteristics and decent all-around style traits, but a more neutral near-term earnings revision profile than a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy) or Zacks Rank #2 (Buy). You can see the complete list of today’s Zacks #1 Rank stocks here.
The Style Score framework indicates that stronger letter grades are generally associated with better expected performance, and that VGM scores of A or B can be useful complements to the Zacks Rank over the next one to three months. Still, the Zacks Rank can change as analysts revise earnings estimates after the quarter, so the current setup should be viewed as a snapshot rather than a fixed signal.

Zacks Premium also includes the Zacks Style Scores.
What are the Zacks Style Scores? The Zacks Style Scores, developed alongside the Zacks Rank, are complementary indicators that rate stocks based on three widely-followed investing methodologies; they also help investors pick stocks with the best chances of beating the market over the next 30 days.
Based on their value, growth, and momentum characteristics, each stock is assigned a rating of A, B, C, D, or F. The better the score, the better chance the stock will outperform; an A is better than a B, a B is better than a C, and so on.
Growth ScoreWhile good value is important, growth investors are more focused on a company's financial strength and health, and its future outlook. The Growth Style Score takes projected and historic earnings, sales, and cash flow into account to uncover stocks that will see long-term, sustainable growth.
Momentum ScoreMomentum traders and investors live by the saying "the trend is your friend." This investing style is all about taking advantage of upward or downward trends in a stock's price or earnings outlook. Employing factors like one-week price change and the monthly percentage change in earnings estimates, the Momentum Style Score can indicate favorable times to build a position in high-momentum stocks.
This totals more than 800 top-rated stocks, and it can be overwhelming to try and pick the best stocks for you and your portfolio.

While investors scrutinize revenue and earnings changes year-over-year and how they compare with Wall Street expectations to determine their next move, some key metrics always offer a more accurate picture of a company's financial health.
Since these metrics play a crucial role in driving the top- and bottom-line numbers, comparing them with the year-ago numbers and what analysts estimated about them helps investors better project a stock's price performance.

Otis Worldwide Corporation (OTIS - Free Report) reported mixed second-quarter 2026 results, wherein earnings beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate but declined year over year. Meanwhile, net sales surpassed the consensus mark and increased from the prior year's reported figure.
Following the results, OTIS’ shares declined 1.9% during today's pre-market trading session, likely reflecting negative investor sentiment toward its reduced full-year adjusted EPS, adjusted operating profit and free cash flow guidance despite continued strength in the Service business.
Otis' second-quarter performance reflected continued momentum in its Service business, driven by strong modernization and repair activity, accelerating maintenance trends and robust backlog growth. However, higher investments in Service initiatives and continued weakness in the New Equipment business weighed on profitability.

Organic sales decreased 1%, reflecting a high-teens decline in China and a mid-single-digit decline in EMEA, partly offset by approximately 10% organic growth in the Americas and low single-digit growth in Asia Pacific. Every bull market has its unsung heroes — the companies doing essential work far from the spotlight.
In the AI infrastructure boom, few groups have been more essential, or more spectacularly rewarding, than the optical and photonics names that quite literally form the connective tissue of the data center.
These are the makers of the lasers, transceivers, and switches that shuttle data between GPUs at the speed of light. And over the past year, they’ve delivered some of the most jaw-dropping returns in the entire market.
A Year of Light Speed GainsConsider the scoreboard. Lumentum has soared roughly 700% over the past twelve months, dramatically outpacing even its high-flying industry. Corning has climbed more than 200% over the same stretch.
These aren’t speculative penny stocks; they’re established, profitable enterprises being repriced in real time as the market grasps just how much optical hardware the AI buildout requires.
The demand drivers are powerful and multiplying: hyperscaler capital spending racing higher, the transition to 800-gigabit and 1.6-terabit transceivers, the emergence of optical circuit switching, and the coming wave of co-packaged optics. When Meta leaks a memo about doubling its compute, or Nvidia lays out its optical roadmap, these stocks move — because they’ve become a derivative on every gigawatt of AI compute announced anywhere, by anyone.
The Gut-Check PullbackBut parabolic moves rarely travel in a straight line, and early July delivered a sharp reminder. The optical complex pulled back roughly 15% to 20% from its early-June highs.
Importantly, the selloff had little to do with deteriorating fundamentals. It was a classic combination of profit-taking after a historic run, Lumentum’s removal from the Russell index triggering forced selling, and some hand-wringing over the precise timing of co-packaged optics adoption. When a stock has tripled or more, it doesn’t take much to spark a correction.
That gut-check appears to be giving way to a snapback. The group has been rebounding, and this week’s move extends that recovery as buyers step back in. The rebound has been underwritten by a wave of constructive analyst commentary — Barclays upgraded Lumentum to Overweight, JPMorgan reiterated its Overweight rating and framed the dip as a buying opportunity after its channel checks confirmed co-packaged optics adoption remains on track, and Citi placed the stock on an “upside catalyst watch” heading into earnings.
The message from the sell side is consistent: the pullback compressed some rich valuations without impairing the multi-year demand story underneath. Let’s look at our two names, because they offer very different ways to play the same theme.
Lumentum: The High-Octane Pure PlayLumentum (LITE - Free Report) is the purest, highest-octane expression of the trade — and it now carries a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy), thanks to a recent upgrade on the back of rising earnings estimates. Back in May, the company reported record fiscal third-quarter revenue of $808.4 million, up a staggering 90% year over year, with non-GAAP operating margin expanding 700 basis points sequentially to 32%.
Management pointed to an optical circuit switch backlog north of $400 million and a multi-hundred-million-dollar co-packaged optics order slated for the first half of 2027 — concrete evidence that the growth is contracted, not merely hoped for. A roughly $2 billion Nvidia-led investment and Lumentum’s addition to both the Nasdaq 100 and S&P 500 have only reinforced its centrality to the AI story.
Lumentum has topped estimates in each of its last four quarters, averaging a nearly 10% surprise. Fiscal fourth-quarter and full-year results are due August 11th after the close — a major near-term catalyst.
Corning: The Diversified Blue ChipCorning (GLW - Free Report) , which also commands a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy), offers the more measured, diversified route. Unlike pure-play Lumentum, Corning is a vertically integrated glass and materials powerhouse spanning optical communications, display, specialty materials, and a fast-growing solar business.
That diversification tempers both the upside and the risk. But make no mistake, AI is now the engine: Optical Communications sales jumped roughly 36% year over year last quarter to $1.85 billion, driving overall sales up 18% and EPS up 30%. The company has locked in multi-billion-dollar, multi-year supply agreements with the likes of Meta, Amazon, and Nvidia, and its “Springboard” plan targets a $40 billion sales run-rate by 2030.
Corning reports Q2 results on July 28th, before the market opens — even sooner than Lumentum — with estimates calling for roughly $4.6 billion in sales and EPS of $0.76. The 2026 consensus has been revised up to $3.18 per share, implying about 26% growth, and analysts at BofA and Citi carry targets north of $240. Corning also pays a dividend, giving investors a modest income cushion that the pure-plays lack.

The Bottom LineThe AI-optics theme is as durable as any in the market, but the ride is genuinely turbulent, and customer concentration among a handful of hyperscalers is a real risk worth respecting.
These are two distinct vehicles for the same secular megatrend. Lumentum is the high-beta thoroughbred — explosive growth, a Buy-rated estimate trend, and maximum torque to AI optics. Corning is the steadier Clydesdale — diversified, dividend-paying, and a bit less exposed to any single quarter’s swings.
The Zacks Transportation—Air Freight and Cargo industry is still dealing with persistent supply-chain challenges. The macroeconomic environment remains turbulent, with uncertainty surrounding the Middle East issue. The recent intensification of the prolonged Russia-Ukraine conflict has aggravated the uncertain scenario.
Nevertheless, we believe the industry has enough growth prospects, especially for companies emphasizing expansion initiatives and operational efficiencies. Despite the reopening of economies, consumer appetite for online shopping continues to be robust. Cost-control measures aimed at enhancing profitability are also encouraging. Increased investments in AI are also aiding efficiency. Companies such as United Parcel Service (UPS - Free Report) , FedEx (FDX - Free Report) , and GXO Logistics (GXO - Free Report) are successfully leveraging these favorable dynamics.
About the Industry The companies belonging to the Zacks Transportation-Air Freight and Cargo industry provide air delivery and freight services. Most players in the space are involved in offering specialized transportation and logistics services. Some participants offer a range of supply-chain solutions, such as freight forwarding, customs brokerage, fulfillment, returns, financial transactions and repairs. The well-being of the companies in this industrial cohort is directly proportional to the health of the economy. Leading industry players, including FedEx, transport millions of packages each day across the globe. Apart from operating a ground fleet of multiple vehicles, some of these companies maintain an air fleet. While some players focus on providing air transportation services for passengers and cargo, others deliver services to entities that outsource air-cargo lifting requirements.
3 Key Trends to Watch in the Transportation-Air Freight & Cargo Industry Emphasis on Shareholder Returns: As economic activity rebounds from pandemic-era lows, companies are increasingly using their growing cash reserves to reward shareholders through dividends and share buybacks. This reflects both financial resilience and confidence in prospects. Within the Transportation-Air Freight and Cargo space, FedEx raised its quarterly dividend by 5% in 2026.
Cost-Control Measures to Support Profitability: Although inflation has shown some signs of easing, it remains elevated. The industry continues to face cost pressures, including higher expenses for labor, freight and fuel. To counter the softer demand conditions, companies are prioritizing cost reductions while enhancing productivity and operational efficiency. Additionally, companies are investing big time in AI, thereby reducing the cost structure and promoting safety. Cost optimization and automation are helping protect profitability. These efforts have paid off, as evidenced by FedEx’s stronger-than-expected performance in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2026.
E-commerce Continues to Be a Key Driver: While e-commerce growth has moderated from the surge seen during the pandemic due to economic reopening, it remains solid. The convenience of online shopping continues to support demand, alongside ongoing digitalization trends. Strength in e-commerce is expected to remain a crucial growth driver for companies in the industry.

OpenAI commits to supporting the power grid with up to 1,000 MW of flexible demand response;
Lowering power use at scale will help ensure reliable electric service for all customers when demand is highest
, /PRNewswire/ -- As Georgia continues to grow and attract new investment and jobs, Georgia Power continues to work to ensure that growth benefits all Georgia Power customers. Today, AI research and deployment company OpenAI announced its plans for a new project in Effingham County, Georgia – about 45 minutes outside of Savannah – which will be served by Georgia Power. The project is expected to create thousands of new jobs and billions of dollars in new investment for the local community. Read more about the announcement here: Building AI infrastructure with the Effingham County community | OpenAI
As outlined in OpenAI's announcement, OpenAI will pay the full infrastructure and electric service costs to serve its facility and will fulfill requirements for long-term energy contracts and include financial assurances designed to protect Georgia Power customers. This approach is aligned with the updated rules and regulations first approved by the Georgia Public Service Commission (PSC) in January 2025, which sit at the center of Georgia Power's industry-leading strategy to meet the needs of large-energy users while also delivering lower rates and higher reliability for all customers. Read more about this robust strategy in the Georgia Power Customer Protection Pledge.
In addition, OpenAI, which is expected to need approximately 3,200 megawatts (MW) of power for its new facility, has agreed to provide up to 1,000 MW of flexible demand response where it will reduce its power use in times of high demand, meaningfully supporting reliability across Georgia Power's system. Under the 25-year agreement, Georgia Power will have the ability to reduce energy delivered to the OpenAI facility during certain times to support the stability and reliability of the electric grid. This demand response resource will also allow the company to invest in fewer new generation resources to serve future growth, providing savings for customers in the long term. Georgia Power's load flexibility agreement with OpenAI is among the largest single-facility demand response commitments in the country.
"We appreciate the leadership and thoughtfulness of the OpenAI team as they prepare to bring significant investment and cutting-edge technology to Georgia," said Aaron Mitchell, senior vice president of Strategic Growth for Georgia Power. "At Georgia Power, we are working every day to help ensure that growth from data centers and other large-energy users brings value for our customers through higher reliability and lower prices. Companies like OpenAI are making real commitments when it comes to responsible operation and development and demonstrating the benefits that these facilities can bring to Georgia communities. We're excited to work with OpenAI, Effingham County and local partners on this significant project."
In recent years, with new residents moving to the state and large-energy users like data centers and manufacturers choosing Georgia, Georgia Power has moved quickly to anticipate and effectively manage growth with the Georgia PSC. This process includes conducting rigorous reviews of large-load contracts as they are reached with customers – such as the one with OpenAI currently – with Georgia PSC Staff. This industry-leading strategy is helping protect residential and small business customers, and has helped deliver the company's earlier base rate freeze as well as a plan to provide annual savings of $102 for the typical residential customer beginning in 2029.

FMC (FMC - Free Report) is expected to deliver a year-over-year decline in earnings on lower revenues when it reports results for the quarter ended June 2026.
While management's discussion of business conditions on the earnings call will mostly determine the sustainability of the immediate price change and future earnings expectations, it's worth having a handicapping insight into the odds of a positive EPS surprise.
Zacks Consensus EstimateThis chemical producer is expected to post quarterly earnings of $0.21 per share in its upcoming report, which represents a year-over-year change of -69.6%.
Revenues are expected to be $909.57 million, down 13.4% from the year-ago quarter.
Estimate Revisions TrendThe consensus EPS estimate for the quarter has been revised 4.69% lower over the last 30 days to the current level.
Our proprietary surprise prediction model -- the Zacks Earnings ESP (Expected Surprise Prediction) -- has this insight at its core.
How Have the Numbers Shaped Up for FMC?For FMC, the Most Accurate Estimate is lower than the Zacks Consensus Estimate, suggesting that analysts have recently become bearish on the company's earnings prospects. This has resulted in an Earnings ESP of -13.25%.
On the other hand, the stock currently carries a Zacks Rank of #5.
So, this combination makes it difficult to conclusively predict that FMC will beat the consensus EPS estimate.
Does Earnings Surprise History Hold Any Clue?Analysts often consider to what extent a company has been able to match consensus estimates in the past while calculating their estimates for its future earnings. So, it's worth taking a look at the surprise history for gauging its influence on the upcoming number.
For the last reported quarter, it was expected that FMC would post a loss of$0.39 per share when it actually produced a loss of -$0.23, delivering a surprise of +41.03%.
FMC doesn't appear a compelling earnings-beat candidate. However, investors should pay attention to other factors too for betting on this stock or staying away from it ahead of its earnings release.

Zacks Consensus EstimateThis maker of the Jaws of Life device and other engineered products is expected to post quarterly earnings of $2.10 per share in its upcoming report, which represents a year-over-year change of +1.5%.
Revenues are expected to be $902.43 million, up 4.3% from the year-ago quarter.
Estimate Revisions TrendThe consensus EPS estimate for the quarter has been revised 0.08% lower over the last 30 days to the current level. This is essentially a reflection of how the covering analysts have collectively reassessed their initial estimates over this period.

Does Earnings Surprise History Hold Any Clue?Analysts often consider to what extent a company has been able to match consensus estimates in the past while calculating their estimates for its future earnings. So, it's worth taking a look at the surprise history for gauging its influence on the upcoming number.

The consensus EPS estimate for Crane has been revised 0.8% higher over the last 30 days to the current level. However, a higher Most Accurate Estimate has resulted in an Earnings ESP of +4.73%.
This Earnings ESP, combined with its Zacks Rank #2 (Buy), suggests that Crane will most likely beat the consensus EPS estimate. The company beat consensus EPS estimates in each of the trailing four quarters.
