New report underscores how climate events, inflation and geographic volatility are reshaping home insurance loss trends
, /PRNewswire/ -- LexisNexis® Risk Solutions today released the 2026 LexisNexis U.S. Home Trends Report, providing an updated analysis of by-peril claims trends in the U.S. home insurance industry to help carriers make more informed, strategic decisions. Examining loss cost, claims frequency and severity, the report also offers insights into seasonality shifts, catastrophic claims and geographic patterns, including trends by U.S. state.
Key Takeaways from the 2026 LexisNexis U.S. Home Trends Report
Map showing the highest-cost property loss peril by state in 2025. All Peril severity reached an all-time high in 2025, increasing 25.9% from 2024 and 93.2% compared to 2019. While All Peril loss cost decreased 4.4% and frequency decreased 23.8% from 2024 to 2025, loss cost remained the third highest in seven years and 50.0% higher than in 2019. The U.S. experienced 23 climate disasters with $1 billion or more in damages in 2025, totaling $115 billion in damages and marking the third highest year of billion-dollar climate events on record. The Los Angeles wildfires accounted for more than half of that total at $61.2 billion, demonstrating how a single catastrophic event can significantly affect loss trends.1 Fire and Lightning were the defining perils of 2025, with loss cost increasing 76.8% and severity rising 67.3% year over year, driven largely by the January 2025 Los Angeles wildfires. "U.S. home insurers continue to face increasing pressure and uncertainty as they contend with a 'perfect storm' of rising severity, rising inflation-driven replacement costs and a reshaping of loss patterns in the face of shifting climate-driven catastrophes," said George Hosfield, vice president and general manager, home insurance, LexisNexis Risk Solutions. "The data reinforces the need for insurers to turn to multi-source datasets and analytics to help assess risk more accurately, benchmark performance and adapt to these volatile market conditions."
All Peril Trends
The U.S. home insurance industry continued to experience a long-term upward trend in loss cost across all perils combined. Although All Peril loss cost decreased in 2025, it was still the third most expensive year for loss cost within the last seven years. Severity rose significantly, reaching its highest level in seven years and increasing 93.2% compared to 2019. The rise in severity offset lower claim frequency, which continued its general downward trend since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Download the full 2026 LexisNexis U.S. Home Trends Report to explore how state-level loss cost and seasonality shifts are contributing to market volatility, including why California experienced the highest loss cost in 2025 and how wind and hail activity affected several central U.S. states. Fire and Lightning Perils
Fire and Lightning were the defining perils of 2025, with loss cost increasing 76.8%, frequency increasing 6.0% and severity rising 67.3% year over year from 2024. The dramatic increase was driven largely by the January 2025 Los Angeles wildfires, including the Palisades and Eaton fires. The fires cost an estimated $61.2 billion, making them the highest-cost climate disaster in the U.S. in 2025 and the costliest recorded wildfire in U.S. history.2 Download the full 2026 LexisNexis U.S. Home Trends Report to see how the timing of the Los Angeles fires affected Fire and Lightning loss patterns, including a shift in the peril's typical seasonality. Wind and Hail Perils
Wind loss cost decreased 50.4% and severity decreased 12.0% from 2024 to 2025, while frequency decreased 43.9%. The year-over-year decreases were likely driven by the lower number of catastrophe Wind claims in 2025. Despite lower Wind loss costs overall, wind-related risk remained significant. A central tornado outbreak in mid-March was the second costliest billion-dollar weather event of the year, costing an estimated $11 billion.3 Hail loss cost decreased 38.4% in 2025 from its seven-year high in 2023, and frequency decreased 35.4% from 2023. Severity remained flat compared to 2024. Download the full 2026 LexisNexis U.S. Home Trends Report for additional context on catastrophe claims, billion-dollar hail events and the states most affected by severe convective weather across the central U.S. Non-Weather-Related Perils
Non-Weather-Related Water loss cost decreased 6.4% and frequency decreased 7.8% from 2024 to 2025, while severity rose 2.5%. Severity for the peril increased 63.16% between 2019 and 2025, likely due to inflation and rising material and labor costs associated with remediating water damage. Liability loss cost decreased 4.0% and frequency decreased 14.6% from 2024 to 2025, while severity increased 12.8% year over year. The report notes this may be anecdotal evidence of social inflation, a term that describes how liability claims costs are increasing above general economic inflation, related to increasing litigation costs.4 Download the full 2026 LexisNexis U.S. Home Trends Report for additional findings on Theft and Other Perils, including how declining frequency and rising severity are contributing to shifting loss trends across non-weather-related claims. "Broader loss trends are important, but they are only the starting point," continued Hosfield. "The real opportunity for carriers is using those trends to help better understand what to look for at the individual-property level. If wildfire risk is expanding into new areas, carriers having insight into the fortification and condition of specific homes can help support more informed assessment decisions. If a state is seeing distinct water-loss patterns, understanding the interior risk characteristics of the properties they insure can be key. By connecting national, state and peril-level trends with more granular property intelligence, carriers can make more informed underwriting, pricing and portfolio decisions."

ABN Amro Investment Solutions lifted its holdings in shares of SK Telecom Co., Ltd. (NYSE: SKM) by 136.8% in the undefined quarter, according to its most recent filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The firm owned 568,343 shares of the Wireless communications provider's stock after acquiring an additional 328,300 shares during the
With the S&P 500 trading at a multi-year high of 29 times earnings, possible interest rate hikes on the horizon, and unresolved military conflicts driving oil prices higher, it seems like it's only a matter of time before the market crashes. When that happens, many of the priciest growth stocks will go on sale and become compelling purchases for patient investors.
One of those stocks is AST SpaceMobile (ASTS -0.22%), a producer of low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites that was overshadowed by SpaceX's (SPCX -0.34%) historic IPO. Let's see why AST SpaceMobile is one of the only space stocks I'd buy in the next market crash.
What sets AST SpaceMobile apart from SpaceX? AST and SpaceX's Starlink both produce LEO satellites for internet communications. However, AST mainly helps telecom giants like AT&T and Verizon extend their broadband networks to rural areas that their terrestrial networks can't reach. Starlink provides its own first-party satellite internet service. AST's satellites are also twice the size of Starlink's largest satellites, making them the largest communication arrays ever deployed into orbit.
AST also processes its data on the ground using Radio Access Network (RAN) software, while Starlink processes it in its satellites. AST can upgrade its ground infrastructure to new wireless technologies (such as 6G), but Starlink must completely replace its satellites with each upgrade.

AST also doesn't operate money-losing rocket launch and artificial intelligence (AI) businesses like SpaceX. While AST isn't profitable yet, it has a clear path to profitability because its core business operates similarly to Starlink, SpaceX's only profitable business.
AST has launched 10 commercial BlueBird satellites to date. It aims to have 45 to 60 satellites in orbit by the end of 2026, and to expand its constellation to as many as 248 satellites within the next few years. However, that expansion will likely require more dilutive stock and debt offerings, as seen with its recent approval of a new $1 billion convertible stock offering.
Why could AST be a great long-term investment? From 2025 to 2028, analysts expect AST's revenue to grow from $71 million to $1.87 billion. They also expect its adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) to turn positive in 2027 and more than quadruple to $1.39 billion in 2028.
But with an enterprise value of $20.7 billion, AST already trades at 12 times and 16 times its projected 2028 revenue and adjusted EBITDA, respectively. If a market crash cuts those valuations in half, it'd be an incredible buying opportunity for space-oriented investors.

Samsung on Wednesday launched its latest foldable smartphones as it looks to maintain its leadership in a product category that it pioneered, ahead of Apple potentially entering the market.
The South Korean tech giant unveiled its Galaxy Z8 Series at an event in London. The three devices and their prices are:
Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra ($2,099)Galaxy Z Fold8 ($1,899)Galaxy Z Flip8 ($1,199)Samsung's foldable products have usually consisted of two devices — the Fold brand which opens like a book and the Flip device which opens like a traditional flip phone.
However, Samsung now has three products with the "Ultra" being its highest-spec smartphone of the series and one that resembles its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Fold7.
"2026 is a huge year for foldables with the near certainty that Apple will be unleashing a foldable iPhone iPhone later in the year," Ben Wood, chief analyst and chief marketing officer at CCS Insight, told CNBC.
"Therefore, this is a critical launch for Samsung who were the market makers in this category, because Apple joining any category immediately gives it another level of legitimacy."
Various reports have indicated that Apple is expected to launch its first foldable iPhone this year, adding more competition to the market that Samsung has dominated since it launched its first foldable in 2019.
Price jumpSamsung's latest products are also more expensive than their predecessors, which was largely expected. This is due to rising component costs, in particular memory chips, which have seen prices skyrocket due to high demand from the AI industry and a shortage of supply.
Those same memory chips go into smartphones. The Z Fold8 Ultra is $100 more than its equivalent predecessor, the Z Fold7. The Galaxy Z Flip8 is also $100 more than the Z Flip7.
CCS Insight's Wood said he was surprised there wasn't a bigger increase in price, which implies that Samsung may not be passing all of the cost rises to consumers.
"That underlines the fact that Samsung is keen to maintain a competitive price point," Wood said.
The more than $2,000 price tag on the Ultra will be a "talking point," Wood added.
New product in the Fold seriesThe Galaxy Z Fold8 is a new style of device. While it opens like a book and is smaller than the "Ultra," Samsung said that the smartphone is designed to ensure a better viewing experience for content due to its 4:3 screen ratio.
"It is little surprise that we have seen Samsung deliver a different form factor for its Fold portfolio, because it has been widely rumoured that Apple is looking to have a wide screen foldable for the forthcoming iPhone and it is something that Samsung and others are keen to get ahead of," Wood said.
The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and the Fold8 both run on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
There are some differences between the two devices. The Ultra has a more advanced camera with three different lenses as well as a bigger battery.
There is a $200 difference between the Fold8 and Fold8 Ultra which, which may not be that large at the high-end of the market where buyers are willing to pay more. It does mean that Samsung will have to provide its customers with a clear reason to buy the Fold8 over the Ultra model.
"The lower specification on the Z Fold8 means Samsung will have to have a very strong sales proposition for this device so consumers can understand why they would choose this device over the Z Fold8 Ultra, which is only $200 more," Wood said.

Samsung on Wednesday detailed the features of its upcoming smart glasses, including gesture controls, as it looks to mount its first challenge to Meta in the device category.
The South Korean tech giant had previously unveiled the "intelligent eyewear" at Google I/O conference in May, showing off two products designed with its partners Gentle Monster and Warby Parker. At the time, Samsung gave very few details about the design and functionality.
At Samsung's Galaxy Unpacked event on Wednesday, the company said the glasses have a built-in camera, as CNBC first reported earlier this year. The camera can capture content that the user is seeing such as taking a video. It can also read content on a whiteboard or presentation and organize the key information into notes.
The device can summarize long messages that a person receives on their smartphone. This can be heard from the built-in speakers in the glasses.
Samsung's glasses are equipped with Qualcomm's Snapdragon AR1 Gen1 chip and must be tethered to a smartphone. The device also has a portable charging case.
James Choi, executive vice president at Samsung and the head of the research and development division behind the glasses, said the company is testing gesture controls with its smartwatches.
That would mean a person wearing a Samsung smartwatch could make a specific gesture with their hand, which could carry out a feature on the device. Users could also potentially carry out gestures with Samsung's Galaxy Ring device, which it launched in 2024, Choi said.
When the device launches this Fall, there will be "more designs" and colors beyond what Samsung has shown off so far, Choi told CNBC.
Meta challengeSamsung, which is one of the biggest consumer electronics players in the world, is entering a market that Meta has dominated since 2021 with its range of smart glasses, such as the Ray-Ban line up.
The Facebook parent company had 69.2% share of the smart glasses market in the first quarter of 2026, according to IDC.
Meta has recently been expanding its portfolio of devices. Last month, it launched a $299 set of entry-level smart galsses and in 2025 the company unveiled the $799 Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses, which have a built-in display.
Choi would not disclose the pricing of Samsung's offering but said it would be positioned as a "premium" product. He added that the device will be sold via its partners' sales channels.
"We want to make it reasonable, but as I mentioned ... the quality of the product itself, we want to position as premium. It doesn't mean that it's crazy expensive," Choi said, adding that the glasses will not be at the "lower end."
"Samsung's arrival represents a serious challenge to Meta, but success is far from guaranteed. Ray-Ban Meta already enjoys strong awareness and growing adoption, while Samsung has historically struggled to convert its vast smartphone base into users of complementary Galaxy devices," Paolo Pescatore, founder of PP Foresight, told CNBC.
"Eyewear represents another valuable upsell opportunity, but Samsung must deliver compelling everyday use cases and prove it can persuade consumers to buy into more than just the smartphone."

Francisco Jeronimo, an analyst at IDC, said he "wouldn't be surprised" if Samsung priced the device between $600 and $700 to "strengthen their premium brand." But he added that there is a risk if they price the device high "without offering more" than what Meta's Ray-Ban products currently offer.
"That is going to be quite a difficult move to sell that kind of device," Jeronimo said.
Choi said the company has "just started" in the smart glass category and expects it to be a "niche market" that will not reach 100 million units in sales. However, he declined to provide Samsung's sales expectations.

Earnings are expected to grow 32% to 53 cents a share from 40 cents in Q2 2025, according to FactSet. Short-sellers are increasing their bets against Tesla (TSLA, Financials), the electric car and energy firm that is heading into Wednesday's earnings release wit
Tesla shares are showing limited movement. What should traders watch with TSLA? Earnings Preview & HistoryTesla is scheduled to report second-quarter earnings today after the market closes. Analysts estimate EPS of 44 cents along with revenue of $25.24 billion. For the prior quarter, Tesla reported EPS of 41 cents, beating the consensus estimate of 30 cents by 36.67%. The company also posted revenue of $22.39 billion, exceeding the consensus estimate of $22.17 billion.
What To WatchInvestors will be watching automotive gross margin closely, since Tesla’s record 480,126 vehicle deliveries only matter if aggressive pricing hasn’t eaten into profitability — EPS estimates span a wide range from 27 cents to 74 cents. Commentary on the Cybercab rollout, Full Self-Driving adoption and Optimus production timing will also be closely tracked, given Tesla’s valuation increasingly hinges on those initiatives rather than core vehicle sales.
Below All Key Levels, With Momentum FadingAt $377.00, Tesla is trading 4.6% below its 20-day SMA ($395.00) and 7.8% below its 50-day SMA ($408.56), a setup that typically keeps the near-term trend pointed lower unless price can reclaim those levels. It’s also 9.5% below the 200-day SMA ($416.27), reinforcing that the longer-term trend is still under pressure.
MACD is the cleaner momentum read right now: it’s below its signal line and the histogram is negative, which points to fading upside pressure versus the prior upswing. In plain terms, when MACD sits under the signal line, rallies often struggle to follow through until momentum improves back above that baseline.
The moving-average structure is also a headwind, with the 20-day SMA below the 50-day SMA and the 50-day SMA below the 200-day SMA (a "death cross" that occurred in April). That combination tends to shift trader focus toward selling strength rather than buying dips until the stock can start rebuilding above its intermediate trend lines.

Morning Brew Daily’s July segment framed the U.S. electric vehicle industry in stark terms. They argued that Lucid (NASDAQ: LCID), once valued at $91 billion, is now worth just $2.87 billion, while Rivian (NASDAQ: RIVN) has fallen from a peak near $150 billion to roughly $25 billion. The guest analyst on the show argued that both pure-play startups are “one boardroom decision at another company away” from collapse, and that neither company is expected to turn cash flow positive before 2030. The numbers back the framing.
Lucid: A Saudi-Funded Life Raft Lucid closed at $7.36 on July 17, leaving the stock down 76.41% over the past year and 97.99% below its November 2021 level. Revenue is scaling. Losses are scaling faster. Q4 2025 revenue reached $522.73 million, while deliveries rose 72% year over year to 5,345 vehicles. The company reported a GAAP net loss of approximately $814 million and negative free cash flow of $1.24 billion for the quarter. For the full year 2025, revenue totaled $1.35 billion, while free cash flow was negative $3.8 billion.
Cost of revenue exceeded revenue in every quarter of 2025, highlighting a persistent gross-margin problem rather than merely a scale challenge. Cash and cash equivalents declined to $997.83 million at year-end, while Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund expanded Lucid’s term loan facility to approximately $2.0 billion. CEO Marc Winterhoff characterized 2025 in the Q4 8-K as a year of “execution and strategy adjustment.”
Rivian: Volkswagen, Uber, and the DOE Are the Backstop With Rivian, Q1 2026 revenue came in at $1.38 billion, while free cash flow was negative $1.08 billion. Cash declined from $4.81 billion in Q2 2025 to $2.85 billion in the latest reported period. Regulatory credit revenue fell from $299 million in Q4 2024 to $29 million in Q4 2025, reducing a previously meaningful source of high-margin income.
The company’s remaining lifelines are Volkswagen’s $1 billion equity infusion, Uber’s potential $1.25 billion commitment toward a 50,000-vehicle autonomous R2 fleet, and a $4.5 billion Department of Energy loan for its Georgia facility.

Legacy Detroit: Ford and Stellantis Take the Write-Downs Ford (NYSE: F | F Price Prediction) recorded $10.7 billion in Model e-related impairments and EV program cancellations in Q4 2025 and is guiding to a FY2026 Model e loss of $4.0 billion to $4.5 billion. CEO Jim Farley characterized the moves as “difficult but critical strategic decisions” intended to support Ford’s target of an 8% adjusted EBIT margin by 2029. Despite the EV restructuring, Ford’s stock is up 33.85% over the past year.
Stellantis (NYSE: STLA) took a larger hit, recording $25.41 billion in unusual charges in Q4 2025 and a $22.33 billion net loss for FY2025. CEO Antonio Filosa acknowledged in the company’s annual filing that the results reflected “the cost of overestimating the pace of the energy transition.”
Tesla: Dominant but Distracted Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) remains the segment leader, with a market capitalization of roughly $1.2 trillion. FY2025 revenue declined to $94.83 billion, while Q4 2025 deliveries fell 16% year over year to 418,227 vehicles. Prediction-market traders had assigned high odds that Tesla would not achieve certain near-term AI milestones, including a public California robotaxi launch and an Optimus release by year-end, reinforcing the show’s portrayal of a company shifting toward humanoid robotics and autonomy while its core vehicle business faces slowing growth.
The Affordability Hail Mary U.S. EV sales are up 15% year to date, aided by gas prices that peaked at $4.50 per gallon in May before easing to $3.85 in mid-July. Ford’s planned $30,000 EV pickup and Bezos-backed Slate Auto’s $25,000 bare-bones truck signal the industry’s pivot toward affordability. Whether that reset arrives before more balance sheets buckle is the question hanging over the sector.

Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) shares are in the spotlight, with earnings on deck, a mixed technical setup and Edge Rankings all drawing attention.
Alphabet stock is trading near recent highs. What’s the outlook for GOOG shares? Earnings Preview & HistoryAlphabet is scheduled to report second-quarter earnings today after the market closes. Analysts estimate EPS of $2.88 along with revenue of $113.63 billion. For the prior quarter, Alphabet reported EPS of $5.11, beating the consensus estimate of $2.63. The company also posted revenue of $109.90 billion, exceeding the consensus estimate of $104.07 billion.
Alphabet has beaten EPS estimates in eight consecutive quarters. Over the last four quarters, the company has averaged an EPS surprise of 0.34% and a revenue surprise of 0.08%.
What To WatchBullish Long-Term, Bearish Short-TermFrom a trend perspective, Google is still holding the bigger uptrend: it’s trading about 8% above its 200-day SMA ($321.99) and about 1.3% above its 100-day SMA ($343.21), keeping the longer-term structure constructive. The shorter-term picture is choppier, with the stock about 1.5% below its 20-day SMA ($353.04) and about 5% below its 50-day SMA ($366.12), which is consistent with a cooling phase after the May swing high.
MACD is the cleaner momentum read right now: it’s below its signal line and the histogram is negative, which points to fading upside pressure unless buyers can push price back into the short-term moving-average band. In plain terms, MACD below the signal line often means rallies are having a harder time building follow-through.
The moving-average "map" also shows why rebounds may be work: the 20-day SMA is below the 50-day SMA (a bearish short-term crossover), even though the longer-term golden cross (50-day above 200-day) that formed in July 2025 still argues the primary trend hasn’t broken. That mix often produces range-like trading where rallies run into overhead supply and pullbacks get bought near longer-term support.
Key Resistance: $371.00 — a round-number area that also sits near the 50-day moving average zone, where rebounds can stall Key Support: $343.50 — a nearby floor that lines up closely with the 100-day SMA area, making it a logical spot for buyers to defend Benzinga Edge RankingsBelow is the Benzinga Edge scorecard for Alphabet Inc. Class C Capital Stock, highlighting its strengths and weaknesses compared to the broader market:
The Verdict: Alphabet’s Benzinga Edge signal reveals a momentum-and-growth-driven profile backed by very strong quality, but with less support from pure value. For longer-term bulls, that usually means pullbacks toward well-defined support can matter more than "cheapness," while upside follow-through often needs momentum to re-accelerate.

Stock Market Rally Defies Rising Oil, Bond Yields; Chips Lead As Seagate, Micron Make Bullish Moves Google-parent Alphabet (GOOGL) will report earnings late Wednesday. The tech giant's cloud computing and advertising growth could frame expectations for Amazon.com (AMZN), Meta Platforms (META) and Microsoft (MSFT). While Google stock jumped on stellar Q1 results, it has now round-tripped and is trading near 349, up roughly 11% in 2026. For Alphabet's second quarter, Wall Street analysts model EPS of…
Alphabet (GOOGL, Financials), which owns Google and is a key provider of search, advertising and cloud services, will report profits as investors take a closer
A major milestone for the story of the stock market this year looms this evening. Alphabet (GOOGL) will report its earnings today after the bell. Reports suggest the firm will have big, positive news to share, so investors may have questions. For instance, do tget own the right stocks, between GOOG and GOOGL? And what ETFs can help maximize positive Alphabet earnings?
Key Takeaways: GOOG and GOOGL may be poised to spike when Alphabet earnings arrive after the bell Wednesday. ETFs like GXPC and GOOX offer strong weights towards those stocks, one long and one shorter term and tactical. While the stocks are different, their returns have mostly been the same, with about a 1% difference over three years. GOOG and GOOGL operate mostly the same, except for the voting rights they confer. GOOG, Class C shares, offer no voting rights, while GOOGL, Class A shares, do. Otherwise, they mostly operate in the same way, with just about a 1% return difference over the last three years, per YCharts data.
What kind of ETFs, then, offer the best options to lean into GOOG and GOOGL for Alphabet earnings today? ETF Database’s ETF Stock Exposure tool can help find the funds with the largest weights to specific stocks.

For example, the Global X PureCap MSCI Communications Services ETF (GXPC) has big allocations to both stocks. The strategy charges 15 basis point (bps) to track the MSCI USA Communication Services Index.
GOOGL sits at a remarkable 31.4% weight in the ETF’s holdings per ETF Database. GOOG, meanwhile, makes up nearly 25%. Together, more than half of the ETF’s assets are in Alphabet stocks.
GXPC can play a longer term role than just a tactical move for Alphabet earnings, of course. There are, however, tactical ETFs that specifically target Alphabet and its related stocks. The T-Rex 2X Long Alphabet Daily Target ETF (GOOX) charges a 105 bps-fee to offer 2x daily leveraged exposure to GOOG’s price movements.
Together, those strategies can help investors get more out of positive Alphabet earnings. Either way, making sure one has the desired amount of GOOG or GOOGL matters as the firm continues to play a leading role in the stock market.

Two Magnificent Seven names are heading into the back half of 2026 on opposite trajectories. Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA | TSLA Price Prediction) is down 15.74% year to date, weighed down by a delivery slump and a massive AI spending ramp. Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) is up 10.46% YTD and riding a Cloud franchise growing 63% YoY.
My bold 2027 targets: $550 for Tesla and $500 for Google. Here is how each gets there.
Tesla: Why Shares Are Stuck Right Now Tesla is caught between a fading auto business and an AI story that has yet to fully monetize. Vehicle deliveries declined 16% YoY in Q4 25, and shares are off 4.35% in the past week and 5.38% in the past month.
With a beta of 1.802, shares move sharply in either direction. Prediction markets currently price just a 16.5% probability of an Optimus release by year-end 2026, so patience on AI product timing is warranted.
The Path to $550 Reaching $550 from today’s $378.93 would require a gain of 45.1%. With forward EPS of $2.44, that implies a forward P/E of 225x, versus our base case’s 209x. So the multiple expansion is modest; the heavy lifting is EPS.
Services revenue growing 42% YoY, 1.28M FSD subscriptions (+51%), and Robotaxi expansion from Austin to Dallas, Houston, and beyond can drive that. Wall Street targets $425.22 with 23 buys against 6 sells. My take: consensus underweights the software optionality. The risk is margin compression if auto pricing weakens further.
Google: Why Shares Are Sliding Despite Blowout Earnings Google delivered a 94.10% EPS beat in Q1 26, yet shares are down 5.79% over the past month. Why? 2026 CapEx guidance of $175 to $185 billion spooked investors worried about ROI. Free cash flow already fell 46.63% YoY in Q1. Beta sits at 1.247, and shares trade 6% below the 52-week high of $404.23.
The Path to $500 Getting to $500 from $346.19 requires a gain of 44.4%. With forward EPS of $15.47, that implies a forward P/E of 32x, versus the base-case 26x. That is a reasonable rerating for a business where Google Cloud is compounding at 63% YoY with a $460 billion backlog.
Act now: the analyst who called NVIDIA in 2010 just named his top 10 AI stocks — and Google didn't make the cut. Grab the names FREE today.
Sundar Pichai said it plainly: “2026 is off to a terrific start. Our AI investments and full stack approach are lighting up every part of the business.” 58 buys, 7 holds, zero sells, with 89% bullish sentiment. The risk is CapEx ROI slipping.
Current Valuation in Context Tesla currently trades at roughly 155x forward earnings, still a nosebleed multiple carried by AI optionality.
Google trades at just 22x forward earnings against 21.8% revenue growth and 82% earnings growth, which looks genuinely cheap for a hyperscaler. TSLA’s 10-year return of 2,457% and GOOG’s 840% show both have delivered before.
The Bottom Line on $550 and $500 Tesla to $550 requires a 45.1% gain and hinges on Robotaxi scale plus FSD monetization. Google to $500 needs a 44.4% gain and a modest multiple rerating on Cloud momentum.
I view Google as the higher-probability path and Tesla as the stretch.
What derails both: an AI CapEx digestion phase that compresses margins across the group. Returns at this level shouldn’t be expected every year, but we’ve outlined the blueprint for how Tesla and Google could reach $550 and $500 in 2027.

10am: Dow opens higher, Nasdaq hit by semis selling There has been another uneven open on Wall Street, with investors selling out of technology stocks ahead of key earnings from Alphabet and Tesla after the close.
The Dow Jones has opened up 225 points, or 0.4%, while the Nasdaq fell 0.2%, with the S&P 500 oscillating around the flatline.
Industrial and defensive names led the Dow gains, with Honeywell, Verizon, 3M and Chevron the top risers.
Meanwhile, the Nasdaq's fall resulted from declines in semiconductor and AI-linked stocks, with AppLovin, SanDisk, Workday, Palantir and Lam Research leading falls as investors take profits after the rally yesterday.
An exception is Super Micro Computer, which jumped over 20% after the company released preliminary results showing significantly stronger-than-expected gross margins and a record order backlog, despite revenue tracking near the low end of its guidance.
8.10am: Tech stocks to see Wall Street open lower Wall Street stocks looked set for a weaker open on Wednesday as investors lock in profits in technology stocks ahead of crucial earnings from Google owner Alphabet and Tesla, while escalating tensions in the Middle East push oil prices to six-week highs.
Dow Jones futures were down 0.2%, while the S&P 500 was called 0.4% lower and the hardest hit is expected to be the Nasdaq, where futures have dropped 1%, with chipmakers leading the pre-market declines after a sharp rebound in the previous session.
The cautious mood follows a strong rally the day before, when the Dow Jones rose 380 points, or 0.7%, to 52,443, the S&P 500 gained 0.9% to 7,546, and the Nasdaq climbed 1.3% to 29,316, helped by a powerful recovery in semiconductor stocks after weeks of heavy selling.
Earnings from Alphabet and Tesla are due after the bell, with analysts seeing these as key tests for the artificial intelligence trade.
Markets will be watching Alphabet for updates on AI-related capital spending and monetisation, while Tesla's results are expected to provide fresh detail on autonomous driving, robotics and vehicle demand.
Results from Texas Instruments, IBM and ServiceNow will also be closely watched in the evening, while Philip Morris, GE Vernova and AT&T report before the opening bell.
Chip stocks were under pressure in pre-market trading as investors took profits following a 5.5% jump in the sector the previous session.
Semiconductor stocks have been under heavy pressure in recent weeks as hedge funds aggressively unwound crowded AI trades, driving the sector around 25% below its early June peak.
Tuesday's rebound came as "the Momo guys [momentum traders] ran out of stock to sell, so the pressure was off," said market strategist Kenny Polcari at Slatestone Wealth, suggesting the wave of forced selling may have largely run its course.
Meanwhile, Brent crude traded above $94 a barrel after another night of US strikes on Iranian targets and renewed threats to shipping routes in the Middle East from Yemen.
The stronger oil price has revived concerns that inflation could prove more persistent, complicating the Federal Reserve's policy outlook just as investors had begun to scale back expectations of further interest-rate increases.
"10 straight days of US strikes and continued attacks on military targets have kept a geopolitical premium firmly embedded in oil prices and that will become more of an issue next month and the months after," said Polcari.
There is little in the way of economic data due on Wednesday, putting more of the onus on corporate earnings and developments in the Middle East.
US stocks opened lower on Wednesday as weakness in semiconductor stocks and higher oil prices weighed on investor sentiment ahead of a crucial day of corporate earnings led by Alphabet, Tesla and other major technology companies.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 78 points, or 0.15%. The S&P 500 declined 0.12%, while the Nasdaq Composite dropped 0.46%.
Markets are entering a pivotal phase of the second-quarter earnings season, with investors looking for evidence that large technology companies are generating returns from their multibillion-dollar investments in artificial intelligence after months of AI-driven gains across Wall Street.
Investor attention is firmly focused on earnings from Alphabet and Tesla, the first of the so-called Magnificent Seven companies to report results this earnings season.
Alphabet's results are expected to receive particular scrutiny following the delay of a key Gemini AI model, which has raised questions about the company's AI strategy and its ability to compete in the rapidly evolving artificial intelligence market.
Alphabet shares were almost unchanged after market open, trading 0.03% higher.
Technology companies reporting after Wednesday's closing bell also include Texas Instruments, International Business Machines and ServiceNow.
Investors are expected to closely monitor commentary on artificial intelligence spending, cloud demand, enterprise technology budgets and expectations for the second half of the year.
The earnings reports are widely viewed as an important test of whether continued investment in AI infrastructure and software can justify elevated technology stock valuations.
Semiconductor stocks came under renewed pressure ahead of the reports. The iShares Semiconductor ETF (SOXX) fell 1.2% in trading, while Texas Instruments slipped 1.56%.
Markets also continued to monitor developments in the Middle East, where geopolitical tensions pushed oil prices to their highest levels in more than a month.
Brent crude climbed about 3% to trade above $94 per barrel after briefly moving above $95, while West Texas Intermediate crude rose roughly 3% to above $86 per barrel.
The gains followed the 11th consecutive round of US strikes against Iran, while tensions surrounding shipping routes remained elevated after continued threats from Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi militia.
Higher energy prices have renewed concerns that inflation could remain elevated, potentially complicating the Federal Reserve's policy outlook.
According to the latest Reuters poll, economists expect the Federal Reserve to leave interest rates unchanged for the remainder of 2026, although many also see an elevated risk of future rate increases.
CME FedWatch data showed traders assigning more than a 70% probability that the Fed will leave rates unchanged at next week's meeting. However, traders were also pricing in a 70% chance of at least a quarter-point rate increase in September.
Corporate earnings continued to generate notable stock moves ahead of the market open.
Super Micro Computer surged 14% in trading after the AI server manufacturer announced it had secured more than $60 billion in new fourth-quarter orders and forecast gross margins above its previous expectations.
AT&T also gained 4% after reporting stronger-than-expected wireless subscriber additions during the second quarter.
As earnings season accelerates, investors remain focused on whether strong demand for AI infrastructure, cloud services and enterprise software will continue to support corporate growth and broader market valuations amid persistent geopolitical and macroeconomic uncertainty.

The Q1 2026 13F filings (holdings as of March 31, 2026, filed May 15, 2026) revealed a striking pattern: Several of the most concentrated hedge fund portfolios are crowding into the same handful of mega-cap names. Bill Ackman’s Pershing Square, David Tepper’s Appaloosa, Li Lu’s Himalaya Capital, and Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway are all leaning hard into Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN | AMZN Price Prediction), Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOGL) and Uber (NYSE:UBER). The overlap reflects a shared thesis.
Amazon: Ackman and Tepper Size Up Amazon has become one of the largest positions in two of the most-watched books on Wall Street. Pershing Square held Amazon at roughly 17.4% of its portfolio, while Appaloosa’s Amazon stake sat near 15.2% after Tepper nearly doubled his share count during the quarter. The fundamentals support the conviction. Q1 2026 EPS came in at $2.78 versus a $1.73 consensus, a 60.69% beat, while AWS grew 28% year over year, its fastest pace in 15 quarters, at a 37.7% operating margin.
The thesis is straightforward: Amazon is the toll booth for enterprise AI compute. Landmark deals with OpenAI (roughly 2 GW of Trainium capacity) and Anthropic (up to 5 GW) lock in demand years out, and the company plans about $200 billion in 2026 capex. Shares are up 10.37% year to date through July 20, well behind the fundamentals.
Alphabet: Li Lu and Buffett Get Louder Alphabet is the more concentrated bet. Himalaya Capital’s combined GOOGL/GOOG weight sits near 44.8% of the portfolio, and Berkshire more than doubled its GOOGL stake while opening a new GOOG position that represents about 6% of Berkshire’s equity book. Buffett historically avoided the search giant. That reversal signals conviction.
The numbers explain the pivot. Q1 2026 revenue rose 21.8% to $109.90 billion, EPS beat by 94.10%, and Google Cloud grew 63% with backlog nearly doubling quarter over quarter to over $460 billion. Operating margin expanded to 36.1%, and Waymo is now doing more than 500,000 autonomous rides a week. At a roughly 16 P/E, Alphabet is priced like a mature ad business while operating like an accelerating AI platform. Shares are up around 12% year to date and more than 85% over the past year.
Act now: the analyst who called NVIDIA in 2010 just named his top 10 AI stocks — and Amazon didn't make the cut. Grab the names FREE today.
Uber: The Cash Flow Machine Uber is the contrarian pick of the three. Ackman’s Pershing Square held Uber at roughly 15.7% of the portfolio, and Tepper nearly tripled his Appaloosa position to about 7.7%. Yet the stock is down nearly 13% year to date and nearly 21% over the past year.
The disconnect is the opportunity. Q1 2026 Gross Bookings grew 25% to $53.72 billion, Uber One membership hit 50 million driving half of Gross Bookings, and non-GAAP EPS rose 44%. Full-year 2025 free cash flow reached $9.76 billion, up 41.6%, and the company repurchased $3.011 billion of stock in Q1 alone. CEO Dara Khosrowshahi is positioning Uber as “the largest facilitator of AV trips in the world”, effectively renting Waymo’s fleet rather than competing with it.
Should Retirement Investors Follow? The signal is convergence. Four independent capital allocators, with different styles and time horizons, arrived at overlapping conclusions: AI compute demand is real, cash flow compounders are mispriced, and platform economics still win. For a retirement-focused investor, Alphabet offers the cleanest valuation setup, Amazon the deepest moat, and Uber the biggest gap between fundamentals and price. 13F data is point-in-time and lags by six weeks, so treat it as thesis confirmation rather than an actionable trigger. Size positions to conviction rather than to any name on a filing.

i The expected value from our AI initiatives include realized run-rate expense reductions, top-line revenue uplift from AI-powered workflows, fraud reduction, and growth absorption.
The race to build AI infrastructure has driven record spending on GPUs, servers and data centers. Increasingly, however, analysts are looking beyond quarterly capital expenditures to contractual commitments that lock companies into future spending.
Moody’s reached a similar conclusion. Earlier this year, the ratings agency estimated approximately $969 billion in future hyperscaler lease commitments, including roughly $662 billion tied to leases that had not yet commenced and therefore had not yet become recognized liabilities.
Meanwhile, the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) has described many of the financing structures supporting AI infrastructure as “shadow borrowing,” arguing that they create obligations that are economically similar to debt even if traditional leverage metrics do not fully capture them.
Why Investors Should Read The FootnotesCompanies disclose these commitments in regulatory filings under purchase commitments, lease obligations and other contractual commitments. And they typically receive far less attention than reported debt, earnings per share or quarterly AI capex.
That may be worth remembering this earnings season.
Alphabet, Microsoft and Meta will likely reaffirm aggressive AI investment plans. Investors will undoubtedly scrutinize how much they spent last quarter. But the filings may reveal something equally important: how much AI spending has already been committed for the years ahead—and that story is more likely to be found in the footnotes than in the balance sheet.

Microsoft’s stock is destined to break out, according to Bernstein analyst Mark Moerdler. The question is when.
The company is gearing up for its June-quarter earnings report next week, and while Moerdler expects Microsoft to deliver a “solid quarter,” he’s not ready to say that will mark a major turning point for the stock, he said. Whether Microsoft’s report will cause “bear concerns” to dissipate is still up for debate.
A Chinese national seeking asylum in New York City allegedly attempted to scam an elderly Buffalo-area woman out of $360,000 of her inheritance and life's savings, using an internet fraud scheme while claiming to be a "Microsoft security" representative.
Didi Zou, 39, was arrested in June for conspiracy to commit money laundering and wire fraud and faced a July detention hearing where U.S. Magistrate Judge Jeremiah McCarthy ordered him to remain in custody while the federal case proceeds, The Buffalo News reported Wednesday.
Attorney Jeffrey T. Bagley, an assistant federal public defender representing Zou – a temporary work visa-holder seeking asylum in New York City – claimed in court that Zou is an alleged "white-collar" crime defendant and "not one that's a violent one," according to the News.

"So stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from elderly people would not be a danger?" McCarthy asked. "It’s callous, it’s greed-driven, and it had devastating consequences to members of the community."
Zou is alleged to have directed an elaborate scam that led to the unnamed elderly Tonawanda woman giving him, as he posed as an IRS agent, $20,000 and "gold coins/bullion to protect their funds in the ‘IRS Banking’ account," according to the Justice Department.
"Mr. Zou is nothing more than a mule," Bagley claimed in court, according to the report, adding, "The masterminds behind the stealing, they're not going to be the ones showing up for face-to-face interactions."
A NEW MEDICARE SCAM PROMPTS FCC WARNING

Assistant U.S. attorney Colleen McCarthy says there is evidence of Zou having traveled from New York City to New Jersey and Indiana, for potential "other pickups" and internet fraud victims, according to the News.
Zou is alleged to have used internet hacking, passwords, fake names and posing as a federal agent to scam the elderly women in the elaborate scheme.
"He was not used," McCarthy said, rejecting Zou attorney's claim of being an unwitting "mule." "He was involved."
The scheme allegedly started on May 15, when the elderly woman was logging payments and bills into a Microsoft Excel workbook. She received a purported Microsoft alert on her computer screen with the phrase, "Microsoft Security," and instructions to call a phone number, according to the criminal complaint.
LIFE INSURANCE AND ANNUITY SCAMS: DON'T BE THE NEXT VICTIM
An internet security scam led to an FBI and IRS investigation to bust a Chinese national from New York City for allegedly posing as an IRS agent.
She called that number, which kicked off a month-long scheme, allegedly directed by Zou, "to set up a bank account with the IRS on their personal banking website and move their funds to the IRS Bank because of the 'hackers' in their computer," according to a DOJ release.
Fearing hackers, the woman downloaded software at the alleged scammer's instruction that surrendered remote access to her computer, as well as banking details and passwords.
The reported $360,000 in assets included "profits from the sale of their parents’ house, inherited savings, and multiple CDs."
The alleged scheme led the woman to give $20,000 to an IRS "agent" at a coffee shop near her home in Tonawanda, New York, and make five purchases of gold coins/bullion and hand those over at the local coffee shop through June 18.
6 WAYS TO BEAT FINANCIAL FRAUDSTERS
The gold was fake and tagged with tracking devices after the victim worked with FBI agents, the IRS and New York State Police in a sting.
Zou was taken into custody after a traffic stop, telling a New York state trooper he was dropping off a friend in the Buffalo area and heading back to his home in Brooklyn, according to the News.
Microsoft is not a party to this criminal scheme, but FOX Business did reach out to the company for comment Wednesday morning.
Tech-support imposter scams have surged nationwide, frequently weaponizing consumer trust in major brand names like Microsoft, Apple, or Amazon, the FBI warns.
CRYPTO FRAUD TOPS FBI'S ANNUAL CRIME REPORT AS AMERICANS LOSE BILLIONS TO SCAMS
According to federal cyber regulators, these schemes generally follow a familiar playbook:
The Pop-Up Trap: Malware or compromised web browsers trigger an unclosable banner or loud audio warning claiming the device is infected or hacked.
The Fake Hotline: Victims are instructed to call a toll-free number where operators act helpful while establishing control.
The Financial Drain: Scammers often persuade victims to grant remote access to their computers, log into online bank accounts, or transfer cash, wire funds, buy gold bars, or convert money into cryptocurrency under the guise of "safekeeping" or "fixing the breach."

Major tech firms, including Microsoft, emphasize that legitimate corporations never display unsolicited pop-up messages containing phone numbers to call for technical support, nor do they ask for payments in cryptocurrency or wire transfers.
Law enforcement agencies warn consumers that if an unexpected warning freezes a computer screen, they should never call the phone number listed. Instead, reboot the device, disconnect from the internet, and verify any account issues directly through official corporate websites.

CAMBRIDGE, England--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Vultr, the world's largest privately-held cloud infrastructure company, and AMD, a leader in high-performance and AI computing, have announced their support for the University of Cambridge's Energy & Environment Group in developing TESSERA, a groundbreaking AI foundation model designed to monitor environmental change internationally at unprecedented scale. Vultr is providing the computational infrastructure, based on AMD Instinct MI325X accelerators, nec.
News Highlights Anthropic to deploy up to 2 gigawatts of MI450 Series GPUs in AMD Helios rack-scale solutions, with deployment of the first gigawatt beginning in the first half of 2027 The companies will collaborate to use Claude to optimize workloads for AMD Instinct GPUs and accelerate AMD ROCm development, and AMD will broadly adopt Claude across its engineering and product development teams. AMD has committed to make a strategic equity investment of up to $5 billion in Anthropic.
From Near-Bankruptcy to AI Powerhouse When Lisa Su took the CEO seat at Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ:AMD | AMD Price Prediction) on October 8, 2014, the stock changed hands for roughly $3.28 and the company was fighting for its life against Intel. Today, the shares trade at $544.43, with a market cap of roughly $888 billion.
The turnaround started with Zen. The 2017 architecture reset restored competitiveness in CPUs, EPYC pried meaningful share from Intel in data center, and Ryzen took the enthusiast desktop crown. Act two is AI. Instinct MI300, MI350, and the upcoming MI450 series are aimed squarely at Nvidia, and the wins are landing: a strategic Meta deal covering up to 6 gigawatts of AMD Instinct GPUs, plus a landmark OpenAI partnership. The 2025 ZT Systems acquisition added rack-scale system capability, letting AMD sell full AI factories rather than parts.
Q1 FY2026 tells the story numerically. Revenue reached $10.3 billion, Data Center hit $5.8 billion (up 57% year on year), and diluted EPS of $1.37 topped estimates by 5.88%. Su now sees “a clear path to exceed our long-term financial targets, including delivering more than $20 in EPS over the strategic time frame.”
What $10,000 in AMD on Su’s First Day Is Worth Here is how a $10,000 investment in AMD has fared versus the S&P 500 (via SPY) across the standard horizons, plus the full Su tenure.
AMD S&P 500 1-Year Return $34,677 (246.77%) $11,901 (19.01%) 5-Year Return $59,690 (496.90%) $17,184 (71.84%) 10-Year Return $932,243 (9,222.43%) $34,445 (244.45%) Su Era $1,659,848 (16,498.48%) $38,053 (280.53%) Holding through this run required a strong stomach. AMD suffered multiple 50%+ drawdowns along the way, and this past year shares touched a 52-week low of $149.22 before climbing to $584.73. Timing mattered, but staying invested mattered more.
Leadership Grade and Succession Dr. Su earns an unambiguous A+ for her strategic focus, M&A acumen, and execution during her tenure. If there were a hall of fame for Silicon Valley corporate turnarounds, Su’s time as AMD’s CEO would deserve the headliner spot.
Act now: the analyst who called NVIDIA in 2010 just named his top 10 AI stocks — and AMD didn't make the cut. Grab the names FREE today.
While Su remains in her prime and shows no immediate signs of stepping down, long-term executive succession is always a key focus for investors. The next chief executive will not be managing a turnaround but managing a market leader. Internal contenders include CFO Jean Hu.
Looking Forward For investors considering AMD now, the bull case rests on the MI450 and Helios ramp landing in the second half of 2026 as guided, and on whether “tens of billions of dollars in annual Data Center AI revenue in 2027” proves realistic. Wall Street largely agrees, with analysts on average recommending buying shares, though the share price has overrun their $541.66 consensus target.
The bear case flags a trailing P/E of 182 versus a forward P/E of 68. Nvidia continues to press its lead, China export controls already cost several hundred million dollars in FY25 charges, and Su herself sold heavily in May and June 2026 at prices between $433.26 and $476.43.
The takeaway: a strong business at a demanding valuation, with shares already up 154.2% year to date.

Advanced Micro Devices Inc. AMD and Anthropic have agreed to a deal covering tens of billions of dollars' worth of artificial intelligence servers, according to a Wall Street Journal report, in a move that could strengthen AMD's position against Nvidia while expanding Anthropic's computing capacity.
Under the reported agreement, Anthropic will purchase up to 2 gigawatts of AMD's next-generation Instinct MI450 chips beginning in the first half of 2027.
AMD will also invest up to $5 billion in Anthropic, contingent on the AI startup meeting specific deployment milestones.
AMD shares fell about 2.5% in premarket trading following the report.
The agreement marks AMD's first investment in Anthropic and expands the chipmaker's presence in the rapidly growing AI infrastructure market.
According to the report, Anthropic will use some of the AMD chips in its own data centers while leasing additional computing capacity through major cloud providers and neocloud operators.
AMD and Anthropic are also working together to identify suitable data center locations for the deployment of the new hardware.
“We have very much wanted to be a major part of their infrastructure,” AMD Chief Executive Lisa Su said.
She added that the companies' engineering teams have been collaborating for some time.
Anthropic currently runs workloads across several AI hardware platforms, including Google's tensor processing units, Amazon's Trainium chips and Nvidia graphics processing units.
Discussing the planning required for large AI infrastructure deployments, Su said, “You can’t just wake up one morning and say, ‘Oh, I want a gigawatt of compute tomorrow.’”
“You actually have to plan, you know, 12, 18, 24 months in advance for what you want.”
The Wall Street Journal also reported that AMD is in discussions to provide a financial backstop for Anthropic's future data center leases.
The deal comes as AMD continues its effort to increase its share of the AI accelerator market, where Nvidia remains the dominant supplier.
Growing demand for AI infrastructure has created opportunities for AMD as developers seek alternative chip providers.
AMD has recently secured major agreements with OpenAI and Meta Platforms and has been working to attract younger AI companies as customers.
As part of the partnership, AMD has also entered into an engineering collaboration with Anthropic that will use Anthropic's Claude AI models to improve the performance of AMD's chip technology.
AMD's chips currently have lower adoption than Nvidia's products, partly because many AI developers are more familiar with Nvidia's software ecosystem.
According to the report, AMD has also offered incentives, including warrants, to help attract large customers.
The agreement is expected to help Anthropic meet growing demand for its AI services after rapid adoption strained its computing resources.
The company has experienced capacity constraints in recent months, with some customers reporting outages and usage limits as demand for its AI tools increased.
Earlier this year, Anthropic expanded its infrastructure partnerships through agreements with Google, Amazon and Elon Musk's SpaceX, which has begun offering excess data center capacity to customers.
It's the micro versus the macro headlines, says Kevin Hincks, pointing to the U.S.-Iran war acting as a constant overhang against a strong start to the earnings season. The 11th straight day of strikes comes as Alphabet (GOOGL) and Tesla (TSLA) report earnings after Wednesday's close.
Advanced Micro Devices on Wednesday announced a strategic partnership with Anthropic and said it will invest up to $5 billion in the artificial intelligence company "in the future."
As part of the deal, the chipmaker said Anthropic will deploy 2 gigawatts of its AMD Instinct MI450 Series graphics processing units, or GPUs, in AMD Helios rack-scale solutions. The first gigawatt, a measure of power that's become a common metric for describing AI data center capacity, will be deployed in the first half of next year, according to a release.
"We are thrilled to deepen our partnership with Anthropic and deploy AMD Helios at gigawatt scale," AMD CEO Lisa Su said in a statement.
AMD has been one of the major beneficiaries of the AI boom because it's one of the companies that makes the GPUs that can train models and run large workloads. It competes directly with Nvidia, which dominates the market, but it has inked deals with a number of high-profile players in the industry, including Anthropic's rival OpenAI.
As part of that arrangement, AMD issued OpenAI a warrant for up to 160 million shares of AMD common stock, equivalent to roughly 10% of the company, with vesting milestones tied to both deployment volume and AMD's share price.

The company said in April that demand for its Claude models and products has caused "inevitable strain" on its infrastructure, which impacted "reliability and performance" for its users, especially during peak hours.
In May, Anthropic forged a deal with Elon Musk's SpaceX to use all of the compute capacity at his company's Colossus 1 data center in Memphis, Tennessee. Anthropic will pay SpaceX $1.25 billion per month through May 2029 as part of that deal, according to SpaceX's prospectus.
The company inked a multi-billion-dollar agreement with Amazon, as well as a multi-gigawatt compute agreement with Google and Broadcom, in April. Anthropic is also in preliminary talks to lease computing power from Meta, as CNBC previously reported.
Anthropic has experienced explosive growth this year, partly because of the success of its popular AI coding assistant, Claude Code. It said in May that its run-rate revenue topped $47 billion, up from the roughly $10 billion in revenue that it generated over the entirety of last year.
The company closed a funding round at a $965 billion valuation that same month, and is gearing up for a potentially massive IPO that could land as soon as this year. Anthropic confidentially filed its prospectus with the Securities and Exchange Commission in June, but has yet to disclose any additional plans.
Quarterly financial reports play a vital role on Wall Street, as they help investors see how a company has performed and what might be coming down the road in the near-term. And out of all of the metrics and results to consider, earnings is one of the most important.
We know earnings results are vital, but how a company performs compared to bottom line expectations can be even more important when it comes to stock prices, especially in the near-term. This means that investors might want to take advantage of these earnings surprises.
The ability to identify stocks that are likely to top quarterly earnings expectations can be profitable, but it's no simple task. Here at Zacks, our Earnings ESP filter helps make things easier.
The Zacks Earnings ESP, ExplainedThe Zacks Earnings ESP, or Expected Surprise Prediction, aims to find earnings surprises by focusing on the most recent analyst revisions. The basic premise is that if an analyst reevaluates their earnings estimate ahead of an earnings release, it means they likely have new information that could possibly be more accurate.
Now that we understand the basic idea, let's look at how the Expected Surprise Prediction works. The ESP is calculated by comparing the Most Accurate Estimate to the Zacks Consensus Estimate, with the percentage difference between the two giving us the Zacks ESP figure.
In fact, when we combined a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold) or better and a positive Earnings ESP, stocks produced a positive surprise 70% of the time. Perhaps most importantly, using these parameters has helped produce 28.3% annual returns on average, according to our 10 year backtest.
Stocks with a ranking of #3 (Hold), or 60% of all stocks covered by the Zacks Rank, are expected to perform in-line with the broader market. Stocks with rankings of #2 (Buy) and #1 (Strong Buy), or the top 15% and top 5% of stocks, respectively, should outperform the market; Strong Buy stocks should outperform more than any other rank.
Should You Consider Advanced Micro Devices? Now that we understand what the ESP is and how beneficial it can be, let's dive into a stock that currently fits the bill. Advanced Micro Devices (AMD - Free Report) earns a #2 (Buy) right now and its Most Accurate Estimate sits at $1.63 a share, just 13 days from its upcoming earnings release on August 4, 2026.
Advanced Micro Devices' Earnings ESP sits at +1.49%, which, as explained above, is calculated by taking the percentage difference between the $1.63 Most Accurate Estimate and the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.6. AMD is also part of a large group of stocks that boast a positive ESP. Make sure to utilize our Earnings ESP Filter to uncover the best stocks to buy or sell before they've reported.
AMD is part of a big group of Computer and Technology stocks that boast a positive ESP, and investors may want to take a look at Amphenol (APH - Free Report) as well.
Slated to report earnings on July 29, 2026, Amphenol holds a #1 (Strong Buy) ranking on the Zacks Rank, and its Most Accurate Estimate is $1.20 a share seven days from its next quarterly update.
Amphenol's Earnings ESP figure currently stands at +1.12% after taking the percentage difference between its Most Accurate Estimate and its Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.19.
AMD and APH's positive ESP metrics may signal that a positive earnings surprise for both stocks is on the horizon.

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD - Free Report) has been one of the most searched-for stocks on Zacks.com lately. So, you might want to look at some of the facts that could shape the stock's performance in the near term.
Shares of this chipmaker have returned +4.7% over the past month versus the Zacks S&P 500 composite's +0.3% change. The Zacks Computer - Integrated Systems industry, to which Advanced Micro belongs, has lost 9.5% over this period. Now the key question is: Where could the stock be headed in the near term?
While media releases or rumors about a substantial change in a company's business prospects usually make its stock 'trending' and lead to an immediate price change, there are always some fundamental facts that eventually dominate the buy-and-hold decision-making.
Revisions to Earnings EstimatesRather than focusing on anything else, we at Zacks prioritize evaluating the change in a company's earnings projection. This is because we believe the fair value for its stock is determined by the present value of its future stream of earnings.
Our analysis is essentially based on how sell-side analysts covering the stock are revising their earnings estimates to take the latest business trends into account. When earnings estimates for a company go up, the fair value for its stock goes up as well. And when a stock's fair value is higher than its current market price, investors tend to buy the stock, resulting in its price moving upward. Because of this, empirical studies indicate a strong correlation between trends in earnings estimate revisions and short-term stock price movements.
Advanced Micro is expected to post earnings of $1.60 per share for the current quarter, representing a year-over-year change of +233.3%. Over the last 30 days, the Zacks Consensus Estimate has changed +0.4%.
The consensus earnings estimate of $7.28 for the current fiscal year indicates a year-over-year change of +74.6%. This estimate has changed +0.8% over the last 30 days.
For the next fiscal year, the consensus earnings estimate of $12.66 indicates a change of +73.9% from what Advanced Micro is expected to report a year ago. Over the past month, the estimate has changed +6.1%.
With an impressive externally audited track record, our proprietary stock rating tool -- the Zacks Rank -- is a more conclusive indicator of a stock's near-term price performance, as it effectively harnesses the power of earnings estimate revisions. The size of the recent change in the consensus estimate, along with three other factors related to earnings estimates, has resulted in a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy) for Advanced Micro.
The chart below shows the evolution of the company's forward 12-month consensus EPS estimate:
12 Month EPS
Revenue Growth ForecastWhile earnings growth is arguably the most superior indicator of a company's financial health, nothing happens as such if a business isn't able to grow its revenues. After all, it's nearly impossible for a company to increase its earnings for an extended period without increasing its revenues. So, it's important to know a company's potential revenue growth.
In the case of Advanced Micro, the consensus sales estimate of $11.31 billion for the current quarter points to a year-over-year change of +47.2%. The $49.27 billion and $73.53 billion estimates for the current and next fiscal years indicate changes of +42.3% and +49.2%, respectively.
Last Reported Results and Surprise HistoryAdvanced Micro reported revenues of $10.25 billion in the last reported quarter, representing a year-over-year change of +37.8%. EPS of $1.37 for the same period compares with $0.96 a year ago.
Compared to the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $9.85 billion, the reported revenues represent a surprise of +4.09%. The EPS surprise was +5.38%.
The company beat consensus EPS estimates in each of the trailing four quarters. The company topped consensus revenue estimates each time over this period.
ValuationNo investment decision can be efficient without considering a stock's valuation. Whether a stock's current price rightly reflects the intrinsic value of the underlying business and the company's growth prospects is an essential determinant of its future price performance.
Comparing the current value of a company's valuation multiples, such as its price-to-earnings (P/E), price-to-sales (P/S), and price-to-cash flow (P/CF), to its own historical values helps ascertain whether its stock is fairly valued, overvalued, or undervalued, whereas comparing the company relative to its peers on these parameters gives a good sense of how reasonable its stock price is.
The Zacks Value Style Score (part of the Zacks Style Scores system), which pays close attention to both traditional and unconventional valuation metrics to grade stocks from A to F (an A is better than a B; a B is better than a C; and so on), is pretty helpful in identifying whether a stock is overvalued, rightly valued, or temporarily undervalued.
Advanced Micro is graded F on this front, indicating that it is trading at a premium to its peers. Click here to see the values of some of the valuation metrics that have driven this grade.
ConclusionThe facts discussed here and much other information on Zacks.com might help determine whether or not it's worthwhile paying attention to the market buzz about Advanced Micro. However, its Zacks Rank #2 does suggest that it may outperform the broader market in the near term.

What to WatchInvestors will be listening for delivery and production-rate commentary, since the recent order streak only matters if it turns into shipments and cash over the next few quarters. Watch for updates on commercial backlog conversion (orders vs deliveries), free cash flow trajectory (whether higher costs from delays are being contained), and defense program margin pressure — especially any quantified impact from the Air Force One timeline and cost growth.
Boeing Trades Below Every Major Moving AverageFrom a trend perspective, Boeing is still in a repair phase: the stock is trading 5.9% below its 20-day SMA, 7% below its 50-day SMA, 6% below its 100-day SMA, and 5.7% below its 200-day SMA. With price under all of those averages, rallies tend to get tested quickly until the stock can reclaim at least the 20-day/50-day zone.
Momentum is also leaning cautious: MACD is below its signal line and the histogram is negative, which points to upside pressure fading versus the prior upswing. In plain terms, when MACD sits under its signal line, it suggests buyers are losing control unless momentum can turn back up.
The longer-term backdrop is more mixed: Boeing logged a golden cross in June (50-day SMA over the 200-day SMA), but the stock has since slipped back under those longer averages, leaving the cross as a "needs confirmation" signal rather than a clean trend restart. On the map, $232.00 is the key overhead area to watch, while $187.50 is the nearby downside level that matters if sellers regain control.
Key Resistance: $232.00 — a round-number zone that can act as a ceiling on rebounds Key Support: $187.50 — a nearby floor where buyers previously stepped in Benzinga Edge RankingsBelow is the Benzinga Edge scorecard for Boeing, highlighting its strengths and weaknesses compared to the broader market:
Momentum: Weak (Score: 14.42) — The stock’s recent trend signals are soft, lining up with price sitting below key moving averages. Value: Weak (Score: 28.37) — The setup screens as expensive versus typical value factors, which can make the stock more sensitive to execution and guidance. The Verdict: Boeing’s Benzinga Edge signal reveals a weak-tilted profile, with both Momentum and Value scoring in the lower ranges. For longer-term bulls, the chart likely needs to reclaim key moving averages to improve the momentum read, while the valuation backdrop raises the bar for the upcoming earnings report.
