Synaptics (SYNA) Beats Q3 Earnings and Revenue Estimates
SYNA Synaptics
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Synaptics (SYNA - Free Report) came out with quarterly earnings of $1.09 per share, beating the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.01 per share. This compares to earnings of $0.9 per share a year ago. These figures are adjusted for non-recurring items.

This quarterly report represents an earnings surprise of +8.35%. A quarter ago, it was expected that this maker of touch-screen technology would post earnings of $1.15 per share when it actually produced earnings of $1.21, delivering a surprise of +5.22%.

Over the last four quarters, the company has surpassed consensus EPS estimates four times.

Synaptics, which belongs to the Zacks Electronics - Semiconductors industry, posted revenues of $294.2 million for the quarter ended March 2026, surpassing the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 1.41%. This compares to year-ago revenues of $266.6 million. The company has topped consensus revenue estimates four times over the last four quarters.

The sustainability of the stock's immediate price movement based on the recently-released numbers and future earnings expectations will mostly depend on management's commentary on the earnings call.

Synaptics shares have added about 44.9% since the beginning of the year versus the S&P 500's gain of 7.6%.

What's Next for Synaptics? While Synaptics has outperformed the market so far this year, the question that comes to investors' minds is: what's next for the stock?

There are no easy answers to this key question, but one reliable measure that can help investors address this is the company's earnings outlook. Not only does this include current consensus earnings expectations for the coming quarter(s), but also how these expectations have changed lately.

Empirical research shows a strong correlation between near-term stock movements and trends in earnings estimate revisions. Investors can track such revisions by themselves or rely on a tried-and-tested rating tool like the Zacks Rank, which has an impressive track record of harnessing the power of earnings estimate revisions.

Ahead of this earnings release, the estimate revisions trend for Synaptics was mixed. While the magnitude and direction of estimate revisions could change following the company's just-released earnings report, the current status translates into a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold) for the stock. So, the shares are expected to perform in line with the market in the near future. You can see the complete list of today's Zacks #1 Rank (Strong Buy) stocks here.

It will be interesting to see how estimates for the coming quarters and the current fiscal year change in the days ahead. The current consensus EPS estimate is $1.13 on $302.04 million in revenues for the coming quarter and $4.45 on $1.19 billion in revenues for the current fiscal year.

Investors should be mindful of the fact that the outlook for the industry can have a material impact on the performance of the stock as well. In terms of the Zacks Industry Rank, Electronics - Semiconductors is currently in the top 23% of the 250 plus Zacks industries. Our research shows that the top 50% of the Zacks-ranked industries outperform the bottom 50% by a factor of more than 2 to 1.

One other stock from the same industry, Broadcom Inc. (AVGO - Free Report) , is yet to report results for the quarter ended April 2026. The results are expected to be released on June 3.

This chipmaker is expected to post quarterly earnings of $2.40 per share in its upcoming report, which represents a year-over-year change of +51.9%. The consensus EPS estimate for the quarter has been revised 2.7% higher over the last 30 days to the current level.

Broadcom Inc.'s revenues are expected to be $22.04 billion, up 46.9% from the year-ago quarter.

SYNA Synaptics
FMP Stock News
Original source text
On May 13, 2026, Synaptics Inc SYNA shares rose 9.6% to a current price of $131.06. This increase reflects a significant price performance, particularly considering the stock has fluctuated between a 52-week low of $57.54 and a high of $134.27 over the past year.

GF Value™ verdict: The current price is $131.06, compared to a GF Value™ of $86.77, indicating that the stock is 51.0% overvalued.GF Score™: 78/100, which is considered above average. Most notable signal: Insiders sold $1.2 million in the last three months, with no buying activity reported. Is SYNA Overvalued or Undervalued? With a current price of $131.06, Synaptics Inc is significantly above its GF Value™ of $86.77, suggesting that the stock is overvalued by 51.0%. This overvaluation indicates a lack of margin of safety for potential investors, as the stock price exceeds what the intrinsic value calculations would suggest is reasonable. The GF Valuation label categorizes SYNA as significantly overvalued, which presents risks for current shareholders and potential buyers, as market corrections could lead to a decline in stock price.

GF Value™ is GuruFocus' proprietary measure of intrinsic value, calculated from historical trading multiples, past business growth, and future performance estimates. Given that SYNA’s stock is trading substantially above its GF Value™, it may be prudent to monitor the stock's performance closely, as any adverse developments in the market could lead to a swift reassessment of its value.

How Does SYNA's Valuation Compare to Its History? Metric Current Historical P/E (TTM) 25.3x 23.0x Currently, Synaptics Inc is trading at a forward P/E of 25.3x, which is above its 5-year median P/E of 23.0x. This suggests that the stock is trading at a higher valuation compared to its historical averages. The P/E analysis corroborates the GF Value™ verdict, indicating that SYNA is overvalued based on its historical performance metrics.

What Does SYNA's GF Score™ Tell Us? Metric Rating GF Score™ 78 Financial Strength 5/10 Profitability 6/10 Growth 6/10 Valuation 5/10 Momentum 8/10 The GF Score™ of 78/100 indicates a solid performance in various key areas, particularly momentum, which is rated at 8/10. However, the financial strength and valuation ranks at 5/10 suggest that there are weaknesses in the company's overall financial health and valuation metrics. Growth and profitability are rated at 6/10, indicating a balanced but not exceptional performance in these categories.

What Are Insiders Doing with SYNA Stock? In the last three months, insiders of Synaptics Inc have sold approximately $1.2 million worth of shares, without any reported buying activity. This pattern of insider selling could suggest a lack of confidence among executives regarding the stock's future performance, which may be a red flag for investors. Lack of insider buying also diminishes the perception of strong internal belief in the company's growth potential at current valuations.

What This Means for Investors Based on the analysis of GF Value™, Synaptics Inc is currently overvalued. With a significant disparity between the current stock price and intrinsic value, potential investors should exercise caution and thoroughly evaluate the risks involved in entering a position at this level.

Google Research and Synaptics Partner to Showcase Immersive Edge AI experiences powered by the Coralboard™ at Google I/O 2026
SYNA Synaptics
FMP Stock News
Original source text
SAN JOSE, Calif., May 19, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Synaptics® Incorporated (Nasdaq: SYNA) and Google Research will spotlight Edge AI use cases on the recently announced Synaptics Coralboard™ at Google I/O 2026. The Coralboard is designed to help developers move faster from prototyping to real-world Edge AI product development. Powered by the Synaptics Astra™ SL2610 product line with the Synaptics Torq™ NPU and Coral NPU technology from Google Research, the development board offers an open, feature-rich and standards-based platform for bringing multimodal on-device AI experiences to life.

Designed for always-on, power-efficient Edge AI, this version of the Coralboard combines a compact developer-ready design with a rich set of interfaces supporting rapid prototyping. Powered by the 2GHz Synaptics Astra SL2619 dual-core SoC with 2GB DDR4 DRAM and a 1 TOPS CNN and transformer capable NPU subsystem, the board supports CSI camera input, DSI display connectivity, RGB LEDs, microphones, and a buzzer. Optional add-ons expand platform capability via an M.2 module for Wi-Fi®/Bluetooth® connectivity, SD card support, USB peripherals, and mikroBUS-, and Qwiic-compatible sensors.

At Google I/O 2026, Synaptics is partnering with Google on “Jellectronica”, a live AI-powered music experience enabled by the Coralboard. In the pre-show installation, an NPU-accelerated YOLOv8 object detection model running on the Coralboard tracks movement of jellyfish from the Monterey Bay Aquarium via a live stream, turning motion data into control signals for a generative music performance powered by Google DeepMind’s Lyria Realtime model. The experience demonstrates how developers can combine vision and real-time inference at the Edge using an accessible developer platform like Coralboard.

Google I/O attendees can participate in an on-site experience for the opportunity to take home a Coralboard with an out-of-box developer experience that’s engineered to reduce setup time and speed up prototyping. With built-in support for hardware-accelerated Gemma™ 3 270M, together with the open-source MLIR-based Synaptics Torq™ toolchain, developers can build, optimize, deploy, and iterate on vision, audio, and generative AI workloads using a consistent workflow. The result is a practical platform for AI and ML engineers, system architects and OEMs building next-generation Edge AI products.

"Edge AI is evolving as a frontier for innovation. Coralboard gives developers a powerful new way to turn breakthrough AI into real-world experiences at the Edge,” said Yossi Matias, Vice President & Head of Google Research.

“We are very excited to put the Synaptics Coralboard directly into developers’ hands at Google I/O,” said Billy Rutledge, Director, Google Research. “Coralboard makes it dramatically easier to bring advanced AI to the Edge. By pairing efficient, AI-native hardware with an open software stack, this platform lowers the barrier to building private, always-on experiences that run all day in power-constrained environments. Our collaboration reflects a shared commitment to accessible, secure Edge AI for developers everywhere.”

“Gemma helps developers bring capable generative AI to smaller, efficient devices. With the Coralboard, developers can quickly test, tune, and deploy Gemma-based experiences for real-world Edge AI use cases,” said Olivier Lacombe, Product Director, Google DeepMind.

“We’re at a tipping point where AI is moving out of the cloud and into everyday devices. The Coralboard is designed to accelerate that shift—giving developers and OEMs a fast path to build and deploy real-time, multimodal AI products for the Edge at scale. Together with Google, we’re helping enable a new class of intelligent, always-on systems where performance, power efficiency, and on-device intelligence define the user experience,” said Vikram Gupta, SVP & GM, Edge Compute & Connectivity Solutions Division, Synaptics.

“We designed this platform to remove friction for developers. It is compact, feature-rich, and easy to extend, so teams can spend less time setting up hardware and more time building differentiated Edge AI applications,” said Robert Otreba, CEO, Grinn Global.

Synaptics and Google Research will showcase the limited edition Synaptics Coralboard at the Gemma pavilion during Google I/O 2026.

Stay tuned for more updates on upcoming additions to the Synaptics Coralboard family.

Synaptics (SYNA) Is Up 2.23% in One Week: What You Should Know
SYNA Synaptics
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Momentum investing revolves around the idea of following a stock's recent trend in either direction. In "long context," investors will be essentially be "buying high, but hoping to sell even higher." With this methodology, taking advantage of trends in a stock's price is key; once a stock establishes a course, it is more than likely to continue moving that way. The goal is that once a stock heads down a fixed path, it will lead to timely and profitable trades.

While many investors like to look for momentum in stocks, this can be very tough to define. There is a lot of debate surrounding which metrics are the best to focus on and which are poor quality indicators of future performance. The Zacks Momentum Style Score, part of the Zacks Style Scores, helps address this issue for us.

Below, we take a look at Synaptics (SYNA - Free Report) , which currently has a Momentum Style Score of B. We also discuss some of the main drivers of the Momentum Style Score, like price change and earnings estimate revisions.

It's also important to note that Style Scores work as a complement to the Zacks Rank, our stock rating system that has an impressive track record of outperformance. Synaptics currently has a Zacks Rank of #2 (Buy). Our research shows that stocks rated Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy) and #2 (Buy) and Style Scores of "A or B" outperform the market over the following one-month period.

You can see the current list of Zacks #1 Rank Stocks here >>>

Set to Beat the Market? In order to see if SYNA is a promising momentum pick, let's examine some Momentum Style elements to see if this maker of touch-screen technology holds up.

A good momentum benchmark for a stock is to look at its short-term price activity, as this can reflect both current interest and if buyers or sellers currently have the upper hand. It's also helpful to compare a security to its industry; this can show investors the best companies in a particular area.

For SYNA, shares are up 2.23% over the past week while the Zacks Electronics - Semiconductors industry is flat over the same time period. Shares are looking quite well from a longer time frame too, as the monthly price change of 42.39% compares favorably with the industry's 9.88% performance as well.

While any stock can see a spike in price, it takes a real winner to consistently outperform the market. Over the past quarter, shares of Synaptics have risen 52.53%, and are up 90.21% in the last year. On the other hand, the S&P 500 has only moved 7.46% and 24.67%, respectively.

Investors should also pay attention to SYNA's average 20-day trading volume. Volume is a useful item in many ways, and the 20-day average establishes a good price-to-volume baseline; a rising stock with above average volume is generally a bullish sign, whereas a declining stock on above average volume is typically bearish. SYNA is currently averaging 1,075,786 shares for the last 20 days.

Earnings OutlookThe Zacks Momentum Style Score also takes into account trends in estimate revisions, in addition to price changes. Please note that estimate revision trends remain at the core of Zacks Rank as well. A nice path here can help show promise, and we have recently been seeing that with SYNA.

Over the past two months, 1 earnings estimate moved higher compared to none lower for the full year. This revision helped boost SYNA's consensus estimate, increasing from $4.45 to $4.49 in the past 60 days. Looking at the next fiscal year, 1 estimate has moved upwards while there have been no downward revisions in the same time period.

Bottom LineGiven these factors, it shouldn't be surprising that SYNA is a #2 (Buy) stock and boasts a Momentum Score of B. If you're looking for a fresh pick that's set to soar in the near-term, make sure to keep Synaptics on your short list.

High overvaluation may lead to price corrections in the future if earnings do not meet market expectations, thereby putting shareholders at risk of losses.

The strongest aspect of the score is the momentum rank of 10/10, suggesting that the stock has experienced significant price increases recently. However, the financial strength rating of 5/10 indicates areas for concern, as it does not suggest robust financial health. Similarly, the valuation rank of 5/10 corroborates the notion that the stock is overvalued according to GF Value™ methodology.

What Are Insiders Doing with SYNA Stock? In the last three months, insiders at Synaptics Inc have sold a total of $2.6 million worth of shares, with no reported buying activity. 5 AI Stocks to Buy as Markets Defy "Sell in May and Go Away" Adage
TER Teradyne
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Key Takeaways CIEN is gaining optical market share as AI-led cloud and service provider demand accelerates.LITE is benefiting from AI network build-outs and its NVIDIA silicon photonics collaboration. TXN's data center business hit a $1.2B annual run rate amid strong AI infrastructure demand. U.S. stock markets continue their northbound journey in 2026 after the astonishing bull run of the last three years. Likewise, Wall Street’s popular adage “Sell in May and Go Away” is not matching this year.

With just two days of trading left, the three major stock indexes — the Dow, the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite — are all in positive territory in May. Similarly, mid-cap-centric S&P 400 and small-cap benchmarks — the Russell 2000 and the S&P 600 — are also in green.

May’s performance was primarily attributable to the solid performance of the technology sector, specifically the rejuvenated artificial intelligence (AI) trade. Month to date, the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite has advanced 7.2%. The Technology Select Sector SPDR (XLK), one of the 11 broad sectors of the S&P 500 Index, has surged 15.6%. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index (SOX) jumped 20.9%.

At this stage, we recommend five AI bigwigs that have provided lucrative returns year to date. Despite this, their current top Zacks Rank indicates attractive price upside potential in the short term.

The stocks are: Ciena Corp. (CIEN - Free Report) , Lumentum Holdings Inc. (LITE - Free Report) , Teradyne Inc. (TER - Free Report) , Microchip Technology Inc. (MCHP - Free Report) and Texas Instruments Inc. (TXN - Free Report) . Each of our picks currently sports a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy). You can see the complete list of today’s Zacks #1 Rank stocks here.

The chart below shows the price performance of our five picks year to date.

Ciena Corp.Ciena has been benefiting from accelerating AI-led demand from cloud and service provider customers. Powered by strong cloud and service provider momentum, CIEN has gained 2 points of optical market share year to date and expects further gains in 2026.

With the first half exceeding expectations and supply challenges being managed, CIEN now expects first- and second-half gross margins to be roughly similar. It is managing supply conditions effectively and expanding capacity, but demand is expected to exceed supply for the next several quarters. For the second quarter, CIEN expects revenues of $1.5 billion (+/-$50 million).

Ciena has an expected revenue and earnings growth rate of 28% and more than 100%, respectively, for the current year (ending October 2026). The Zacks Consensus Estimate for the current year’s earnings has improved 0.2% in the last 30 days.

Teradyne (TER) Up 22.7% Since Last Earnings Report: Can It Continue?
TER Teradyne
FMP Stock News
Original source text
It has been about a month since the last earnings report for Teradyne (TER - Free Report) . Shares have added about 22.7% in that time frame, outperforming the S&P 500.

Will the recent positive trend continue leading up to its next earnings release, or is Teradyne due for a pullback? Well, first let's take a quick look at its latest earnings report in order to get a better handle on the recent drivers for Teradyne, Inc. before we dive into how investors and analysts have reacted as of late.

Teradyne Q1 Earnings Beat Estimates, Revenues Increase Y/YTeradyne delivered first-quarter 2026 non-GAAP earnings of $2.56 per share, up 241.3% year over year and beating the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 21.43%.

Revenue climbed 86.9% from the year-ago quarter to $1.282 billion, beating the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 5.15%.

Results were powered by AI-related demand strength across compute segments, with management estimating about 70% of quarterly revenue tied to AI. The company also set a new companywide quarterly revenue record and said all three business groups posted strong year-over-year growth.

TER Delivers Record Revenue Led by Semiconductor TestSemiconductor Test remained the clear volume driver, notably generating $1.111 billion (86.7% of total revenues) of quarterly revenue. Robotics contributed $91 million (7.1%), while Product Test added $80 million (6.2%), underscoring that demand strength was not confined to a single end market.

The mix highlights how Teradyne’s “wafer-to-AI data center” strategy is translating into broad-based shipment momentum. In particular, the Semiconductor Test scale advantage left the company well positioned to capture elevated test intensity tied to advanced compute and memory deployments.

Teradyne Sees Sequential Margin ExpansionIn the first quarter, Teradyne reported a non-GAAP gross margin of 60.9%, which expanded 40 basis points (bps) year over year.

In the reported quarter, selling and administrative expenses increased 6% year over year to $166.7 million. As a percentage of revenues, selling and marketing expenses were 13%, down 990 bps year over year.

Engineering and development expenses increased 14.7% year over year to $135.6 million. As a percentage of revenues, engineering and development expenses were 10.6%, down 670 bps year over year.

TER’s Balance Sheet & Cash FlowAs of March 29, 2026, Teradyne’s cash and cash equivalents (including marketable securities) were $245.5 million, down from $321.9 million as of Dec. 31, 2025.

In the reported quarter, net cash provided by operating activities was $265 million.

TER’s 2Q26 OutlookFor the second quarter of 2026, Teradyne expects revenues in the range of $1.150-$1.250 billion. Non-GAAP earnings are projected to be in the range of $1.86-$2.15.

How Have Estimates Been Moving Since Then?Since the earnings release, investors have witnessed a upward trend in fresh estimates.

The consensus estimate has shifted 12.6% due to these changes.

VGM ScoresAt this time, Teradyne has a average Growth Score of C, though it is lagging a bit on the Momentum Score front with a D. Charting a somewhat similar path, the stock has a score of F on the value side, putting it in the fifth quintile for this investment strategy.

Overall, the stock has an aggregate VGM Score of D. If you aren't focused on one strategy, this score is the one you should be interested in.

OutlookEstimates have been trending upward for the stock, and the magnitude of these revisions looks promising. It comes with little surprise Teradyne has a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy). We expect an above average return from the stock in the next few months.

5 Stocks With Real Revenue From Physical AI Today (Not 2030 Promises)
TER Teradyne
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Jensen Huang keeps quoting a $40 trillion humanoid robot TAM, and the market is rewarding every concept video and 2030 roadmap that mentions the word robot. I have been studying physical AI deployments for the better part of two years, and here is what I keep coming back to: the names that survive the inevitable shakeout will be the ones already booking revenue from machines that move, see, cut, fly, or scan. Real income statements, not pitch decks. Five of them are below.

1. Cognex (CGNX): The Eyes Behind Every Robot You Have Never Heard Of Every robot needs to see. Cognex builds the machine-vision systems that let factory arms, logistics sorters, and quality-control lines actually perceive the physical world, and the company just shipped two new platforms (In-Sight 6900 powered by NVIDIA and In-Sight 3900 powered by Qualcomm) that drop AI inference directly onto the camera. This is the boring layer of physical AI nobody tweets about, and it is exactly why I am putting it at #1.

The Q1 results left no room for doubt. Cognex (NASDAQ:CGNX | CGNX Price Prediction) posted revenue of $268.44 million, up 24.3% year over year, with adjusted EPS of $0.34 beating the $0.25 estimate, and Q2 guidance pointing to adjusted EPS of $0.40 to $0.44, roughly 68% growth at the midpoint. CEO Matt Moschner said the goal is “becoming the #1 provider of AI-powered machine vision.”

The stock has already started catching up. Shares are up roughly 86% year to date, and yet the most obvious AI-chip beneficiary of all has been compounding even faster, which brings us to #2.

2. Teradyne (TER): The Toll Booth on Every AI Chip in Existence If you make an AI accelerator, an HBM stack, or a custom hyperscaler ASIC, Teradyne tests it before it ever sees a data center. The company also owns Universal Robots, giving it a foot in industrial automation. CEO Greg Smith calls it the “wafer to AI data center” strategy, and approximately 70% of Q1 revenue was tied to AI-related demand.

Teradyne (NASDAQ:TER) just delivered what may be the cleanest AI infrastructure quarter of the cycle: Q1 2026 revenue of $1.282 billion, up 87% year over year, with EPS growth of 241%. Smith disclosed Teradyne received its first multi-system production test orders for merchant GPU in Q1, with shipments expected to ramp in Q2. The robotics segment delivered $91 million, up 32% year over year, with AI revenue rising to 15% of segment sales.

Shares are up roughly 94% year to date. That is what happens when the toll booth gets to charge every traveler. But the toll booth analogy applies just as cleanly to a very different kind of physical AI, one where the machines are not testing chips but operating on human bodies.

3. Intuitive Surgical (ISRG): Robotic Surgery Is Already Here The da Vinci robot has been in operating rooms for two decades, but the AI-assisted da Vinci 5 platform is what is driving the current adoption curve. Every system placed creates a recurring annuity of instruments, accessories, and services. This is physical AI with a razor-blade model attached.

Intuitive Surgical (NASDAQ:ISRG) posted Q1 2026 revenue of $2.77 billion, up 23% year over year, with non-GAAP EPS of $2.50 beating the $2.11 estimate. Three numbers tell the story: da Vinci procedures grew ~16% with Ion procedures up ~39%; 431 da Vinci systems placed, of which 232 were the AI-enabled da Vinci 5; and the installed base is now 11,395 da Vinci units plus 1,041 Ion systems.

Shares are down roughly 26% year to date, which is exactly why this one deserves a fresh look. The selloff reflects valuation reset and tariff worry, while surgeon demand for the robot remains strong. They do. The next name extends the same logic from the OR to the warehouse floor.

4. Zebra Technologies (ZBRA): Physical AI on the Frontline Zebra’s CEO uses the words physical AI without prompting, and the company’s portfolio (RFID, scanners, mobile computers, machine vision via the Photoneo acquisition, touchscreens via Elo Touch) is the data-capture nervous system for every Fortune 500 distribution center, hospital, and retailer. CEO Bill Burns said on the most recent call: “AI needs data from the physical world” and Zebra collects it 30 times per item across the supply chain.

Q1 came in with revenue of $1.50 billion, up 14.3%, and non-GAAP EPS of $4.75 beating the $4.25 estimate. Management raised the full-year outlook to non-GAAP EPS of $18.30 to $18.70 with free cash flow above $900 million. The machine vision business specifically grew double digits in Q1, with the CEO calling it “an inflection point in the market”.

Burns framed the opportunity bluntly: “roughly 75% of warehouses around the world are in the early stages of an automation journey” with a served market of $35 billion. That is a multi-year runway. Which sets up the punchline at #5, where physical AI stops sorting packages and starts flying alongside fighter jets.

5. Kratos Defense (KTOS): The Autonomous Drones Are Already Flying The Valkyrie is a real, AI-piloted Collaborative Combat Aircraft that flies alongside manned fighters. Northrop Grumman just won the MUX TACAIR Collaborative Combat Aircraft program with Kratos Valkyrie as the platform, and CEO Eric DeMarco confirmed the company is “executing a plan in 2026 to increase our rate of production up to approximately 40 Valkyries annually by the end of 2027.” This is autonomous combat aircraft revenue showing up on the income statement now.

Q1 FY26 delivered revenue of $371.0 million, up 22.6% year over year, beating the roughly $345 million estimate. Three things stand out: the Unmanned Systems segment grew 30.9% organically to $82.6 million, driven by Valkyrie; bookings of $605.2 million produced a 1.6x book-to-bill ratio with backlog at $2.01 billion; and management raised FY26 guidance to $1.70 to $1.76 billion in revenue. DeMarco described what is happening as a “generational recapitalization of the U.S. defense industrial base.”

And here is the kicker: shares are down roughly 25% year to date even as bookings hit a record. The market has temporarily forgotten that the drones are already in production. I do not expect that disconnect to last.

The Bottom Line Cognex sees, Teradyne tests, Intuitive cuts, Zebra scans, and Kratos flies. Five companies, five different layers of the physical-AI stack, every one of them booking real revenue today rather than promising it in 2030. When the speculative names get repriced (and they will), capital rotates to operators with backlog, recurring revenue, and installed bases. These five have all three. The window where the market still confuses them with the storytellers is the window worth paying attention to.

In doing so, investors should focus on companies that deliver strong returns after covering both operating and non-operating expenses. Consequently, businesses with consistent profits tend to be more attractive than loss-making firms.

To assess profitability, investors often rely on accounting ratios that measure a company’s bottom-line performance. On that note, Micron Technology, Inc. (MU - Free Report) , Credo Technology Group Holding Ltd (CRDO - Free Report) and Teradyne, Inc. (TER - Free Report) stand out as the top profitable picks, supported by strong net income ratios and considerable upside potential.

Net Income Ratio Explained in Simple Terms The net income ratio indicates a company's profitability. It reflects the percentage of net income to total sales revenues. Using the net income ratio, one can determine a firm’s effectiveness at covering operating and non-operating expenses with revenues. A higher net income ratio usually implies a company’s ability to generate sufficient revenues and manage all business functions effectively.

TER Teradyne
FMP Stock News
Original source text
An updated edition of the April 14, 2026 article.

A wide moat describes companies with durable competitive advantages that shield them from competitors, much like a moat protects a castle. Popularized by Warren Buffett, this strategy focuses on businesses capable of maintaining strong long-term profitability through strengths such as unique market positions, powerful brand loyalty, cost efficiencies, network effects and regulatory protections.

Among the companies that exemplify wide economic moats are The Estee Lauder Companies Inc. (EL - Free Report) , Teradyne, Inc. (TER - Free Report) , Lam Research Corporation (LRCX - Free Report) and ASML Holding N.V. (ASML - Free Report) . These companies compete in industries with significant barriers to entry, which safeguard their market positions and promote consistent revenue growth by reducing the risk of new competitors.

Wide-moat companies typically derive their advantage from factors such as strong brand recognition, network effects, high customer switching costs, regulatory hurdles and economies of scale. These elements create formidable challenges for new or existing rivals attempting to gain market share. Consequently, these firms often benefit from solid pricing power, stable profit margins, and the capacity to reinvest in their businesses, further reinforcing their long-term competitive edge.

The attraction of investing in wide-moat businesses stems from their ability to deliver steady, long-term returns. In contrast to companies in highly competitive industries where profits are more vulnerable to pricing pressure and intense rivalry, wide-moat firms tend to show greater stability during economic downturns and market turbulence. Their solid market positions and robust balance sheets enable them to weather challenges that might severely impact less well-protected competitors.

Investing in wide-moat companies provides a solid strategy for building long-term wealth, as these businesses typically produce steady cash flows and deliver shareholder value through dividend payments and stock price growth. While no investment is entirely risk-free, companies with strong economic moats provide a level of durability that many investors seek in an ever-changing market. Our Wide Moat Screen makes it easy to identify high-potential stocks at any given time — just like the ones mentioned above.

SpaceX: The AI IPO Wearing a Spacesuit
TER Teradyne
FMP Stock News
Original source text
If one were to build a word cloud of what the average investor associates with SpaceX, it would look something like: rockets, Elon Musk, Starlink, Mars. Somewhere in there, in a small font, you’d find xAI. SpaceX is seen, after all, as the ultimate space play. The numbers, on the other hand, tell a different story. Goldman Sachs, the lead underwriter of the upcoming IPO, projects that xAI will represent over two-thirds of the combined company’s business by 2030. Make no mistake: the anticipated debut of SpaceX is an AI IPO wearing a spacesuit.

Three and a half years since ChatGPT launched, one thing is clear: AI needs staggering amounts of physical infrastructure.

The $300 Billion Capex Cycle Not surprisingly, the numbers involved in what is shaping to be the largest IPO in history are eye-watering. Goldman Sachs expects SpaceX to scale its revenue from $18.7 billion in 2025 to $474 billion in 2030. For that, the company is expected to spend over $300 billion in capital expenditures by the end of the decade.

Transforming xAI and its AI assistant, Grok, into the dominant engine of a $1.75 trillion business will send billions flowing directly into the broader technology ecosystem. For investors looking to capture this infrastructure boom without taking on single-stock concentration risk, the ROBO Global Artificial Intelligence ETF (THNQ) offers a structural approach.

Semiconductors and Connectivity  Because training frontier AI models requires massive, centralized computing power, the most immediate beneficiaries of this capex boom are the infrastructure vendors. Outfitting a mammoth data center like xAI’s Colossus to a gigawatt scale requires a massive volume of processors and memory architecture. While the winner of the AI software wars won’t be known for some time, semiconductor designers like Advanced Micro Devices and connectivity leaders like Astera Labs stand to collect a toll on every ounce of compute capacity that SpaceX must deploy to scale up its operations.

Data centers do not run on processors and memory alone. When linking over 100,000 GPUs in a single cluster, securing raw compute and power is only half the battle. This is where data latency becomes a critical factor. This is the physical constraint of moving terabytes of data tightly within the server racks and across the vast data center floor without degrading the signal. To transfer information instantly and prevent the network from stalling, SpaceX must spend heavily on next-generation optical networking and high-speed interconnects. Companies like Credo Technology Group (CRDO) and Lumentum (LITE), both found within the THNQ portfolio, supply exactly this physical infrastructure.

Network Security  Once this physical network is built, it must be protected. Operating a facility of Colossus’s scale while simultaneously routing real-time telemetry from a global satellite constellation generates millions of potential entry points for hackers. Securing an environment this complex requires autonomous cybersecurity platforms. They must be capable of detecting and neutralizing threats at the exact same machine speed that malicious AI uses to attack. This reality directs another portion of that $300 billion capital expenditure toward AI-driven security providers. Exposure to this space is also found within the THNQ portfolio, with names such as CrowdStrike (CRWD) and Palo Alto Networks (PANW).

Factory Automation  While THNQ captures the compute and data demands of xAI, the rocket business is still core to SpaceX. The ultimate mission, after all, remains making humanity a “spacefaring civilization.” For investors seeking exposure to this physical side of SpaceX, the ROBO Global Robotics and Automation Index (ROBO) serves as a targeted vehicle. The ultimate goal of building 1,000 rockets in a year and continuously manufacturing Starlink satellites requires a highly automated assembly process. This demands precision robotics, automated testing equipment, and machine vision systems. The industrial automation companies that form the core of ROBO are the silent partners making this manufacturing scale possible.

ROBO features some of the key suppliers powering SpaceX’s spacefaring business, from the Starship complex at Starbase to the Starlink factory in Bastrop, Texas. For heavy machining, SpaceX utilizes robotic articulation systems from companies like ABB (ABB). Working alongside them are collaborative robots from Teradyne’s (TER) Universal Robots subsidiary, which handle repetitive, light-payload assembly. To verify tight tolerances on Raptor engines and Starship barrel sections, the production line relies on laser tracking hardware from Hexagon AB (HEXA B). Tying this physical hardware together is the engineering software backbone provided by Siemens AG (SIE). By holding these suppliers, ROBO also allows investors to capture part of the capital expenditure required to scale Starship production and the Starlink constellation.

The Strategic Takeaway  Whether SpaceX’s current valuation is ultimately justified remains to be seen. What is certain, however, is the signal sent by its projected $300 billion in capital expenditure: a massive, sustained demand for AI hardware and manufacturing infrastructure. Rather than chasing direct exposure to a single stock, investors can allocate capital to the structural tech stack that SpaceX must buy from to operate.

Howmet (HWM) Is Considered a Good Investment by Brokers: Is That True?
HWM Howmet Aerospace
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Investors often turn to recommendations made by Wall Street analysts before making a Buy, Sell, or Hold decision about a stock. While media reports about rating changes by these brokerage-firm employed (or sell-side) analysts often affect a stock's price, do they really matter?

Let's take a look at what these Wall Street heavyweights have to say about Howmet (HWM - Free Report) before we discuss the reliability of brokerage recommendations and how to use them to your advantage.

Howmet currently has an average brokerage recommendation (ABR) of 1.38, on a scale of 1 to 5 (Strong Buy to Strong Sell), calculated based on the actual recommendations (Buy, Hold, Sell, etc.) made by 24 brokerage firms. An ABR of 1.38 approximates between Strong Buy and Buy.

Of the 24 recommendations that derive the current ABR, 19 are Strong Buy and one is Buy. Strong Buy and Buy respectively account for 79.2% and 4.2% of all recommendations.

Brokerage Recommendation Trends for HWM

Check price target & stock forecast for Howmet here>>>

The ABR suggests buying Howmet, but making an investment decision solely on the basis of this information might not be a good idea. According to several studies, brokerage recommendations have little to no success guiding investors to choose stocks with the most potential for price appreciation.

Do you wonder why? As a result of the vested interest of brokerage firms in a stock they cover, their analysts tend to rate it with a strong positive bias. According to our research, brokerage firms assign five "Strong Buy" recommendations for every "Strong Sell" recommendation.

In other words, their interests aren't always aligned with retail investors, rarely indicating where the price of a stock could actually be heading. Therefore, the best use of this information could be validating your own research or an indicator that has proven to be highly successful in predicting a stock's price movement.

With an impressive externally audited track record, our proprietary stock rating tool, the Zacks Rank, which classifies stocks into five groups, ranging from Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy) to Zacks Rank #5 (Strong Sell), is a reliable indicator of a stock's near-term price performance. So, validating the Zacks Rank with ABR could go a long way in making a profitable investment decision.

ABR Should Not Be Confused With Zacks RankAlthough both Zacks Rank and ABR are displayed in a range of 1--5, they are different measures altogether.

The ABR is calculated solely based on brokerage recommendations and is typically displayed with decimals (example: 1.28). In contrast, the Zacks Rank is a quantitative model allowing investors to harness the power of earnings estimate revisions. It is displayed in whole numbers -- 1 to 5.

Analysts employed by brokerage firms have been and continue to be overly optimistic with their recommendations. Since the ratings issued by these analysts are more favorable than their research would support because of the vested interest of their employers, they mislead investors far more often than they guide.

In contrast, the Zacks Rank is driven by earnings estimate revisions. And near-term stock price movements are strongly correlated with trends in earnings estimate revisions, according to empirical research.

In addition, the different Zacks Rank grades are applied proportionately to all stocks for which brokerage analysts provide current-year earnings estimates. In other words, this tool always maintains a balance among its five ranks.

There is also a key difference between the ABR and Zacks Rank when it comes to freshness. When you look at the ABR, it may not be up-to-date. Nonetheless, since brokerage analysts constantly revise their earnings estimates to reflect changing business trends, and their actions get reflected in the Zacks Rank quickly enough, it is always timely in predicting future stock prices.

Is HWM Worth Investing In?In terms of earnings estimate revisions for Howmet, the Zacks Consensus Estimate for the current year has increased 9.9% over the past month to $4.83.

Analysts' growing optimism over the company's earnings prospects, as indicated by strong agreement among them in revising EPS estimates higher, could be a legitimate reason for the stock to soar in the near term.

The size of the recent change in the consensus estimate, along with three other factors related to earnings estimates, has resulted in a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy) for Howmet. You can see the complete list of today's Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy) stocks here >>>>

Therefore, the Buy-equivalent ABR for Howmet may serve as a useful guide for investors.

AI & Defense Players Capture Q2 Investor Interest: 2 Stocks to Buy Now
HWM Howmet Aerospace
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Key Takeaways NVIDIA is benefiting from sustained AI infrastructure demand despite higher rates and slower growth.NVDA reported Q4 data-center revenues of $62.3B, up 75% year over year amid AI expansion.Howmet Aerospace raised 2026 guidance as defense spending and aircraft demand strengthen backlogs. Wall Street entered the second quarter of 2026 expecting rate cuts, but by late April and especially after the May inflation data, those expectations have weakened materially. Inflation has remained sticky, labor markets are still resilient and geopolitical tensions have pushed energy prices higher again.

As a result, investors are no longer chasing every growth theme indiscriminately. Capital is now concentrated in sectors that can either sustain earnings growth in a high-rate environment or benefit directly from inflationary and geopolitical pressures.

Against this backdrop, two sectors have become the primary focus of investors — AI-driven Technology and Energy/Defense with stocks like NVIDIA (NVDA - Free Report) and Howmet Aerospace (HWM - Free Report) attracting strong institutional inflows due to earnings visibility, pricing power and long-term demand resilience. Let’s delve deeper.

Sticky CPI, Stable Labor Market Drive Q2 Sector FocusAccording to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), consumer inflation accelerated in April 2026, with headline CPI (Consumer Price Index) rising 3.8% year over year compared with 3.3% in March. Energy inflation surged 17.9%, becoming one of the biggest factors behind renewed pricing pressure.

At the same time, the labor market has remained firmer than expected. The U.S. economy added 115,000 jobs in April, significantly above economists’ consensus forecasts of roughly 62,000 (Reuters), while unemployment held steady at 4.3%. March payrolls were also revised upward to 185,000. Although hiring has moderated from prior years, labor conditions remain sufficiently stable to prevent the Fed from pivoting aggressively toward monetary easing.

Financial markets reacted sharply after April inflation came in hotter than Reuters’ consensus estimates. U.S. headline CPI rose 3.8% year over year versus economists’ expectations of 3.7%, reinforcing concerns that the Federal Reserve may keep interest rates elevated for longer.

2 AI and Defense Stocks Gaining Focus in Q2

AI-focused technologyremains one of the strongest themes in the second quarter of 2026, with NVIDIA continuing to attract investors seeking earnings resilience in a volatile macro backdrop. Unlike many cyclical technology companies, NVIDIA is benefiting from structural AI spending that remains largely unaffected by elevated interest rates and slowing economic growth. Hyperscalers, sovereign governments and enterprises are still aggressively expanding AI infrastructure, creating sustained demand for advanced GPUs and AI networking systems.

In its last-reported fiscal fourth-quarter 2026 release, NVIDIA reported data-center revenues of $62.3 billion, up 75% year over year. Management also highlighted growing adoption of agentic AI and introduced its next-generation Rubin AI platform, supporting long-term demand visibility. Strong partnerships with Microsoft, Amazon, Meta and OpenAI further position NVIDIA as a direct beneficiary of ongoing global AI-capex expansion.

This Zacks Rank #2 (Buy) stock has gained 28.5% since April 1. In the second quarter of fiscal 2027 (ending July 2026), the company is projected to report earnings growth of 82.9% over the year-ago reported number.

Defense and Energy stocks are also gaining momentum in the April to June quarter, with Howmet Aerospace emerging as a strong beneficiary of rising global aircraft and defense demand. Persistent geopolitical tensions, expanding defense budgets and accelerating commercial-aircraft production have improved long-term order visibility across the aerospace supply chain. Unlike many industrial companies exposed to weaker consumer spending, Howmet benefits from long-cycle aerospace programs and sustained demand for high-performance engine components and fastening systems.

In its first-quarter 2026 earnings release, Howmet raised its full-year guidance after reporting strong growth across both commercial aerospace and defense markets. The company expects continued strength in jet-engine demand and robust aerospace backlog trends, indicating that defense modernization and aircraft-production expansion could continue supporting earnings growth through 2026.

This Zacks Rank #2 stock has gained 14.2% since April 1. In the second quarter of fiscal 2026 (ending June 2026), the company is projected to report earnings growth of 30.8% over the year-ago reported number. You can see the complete list of today’s Zacks #1 Rank (Strong Buy) stocks here.

Howmet Aerospace Outpaces Aerospace & Defense Peers in 2026
HWM Howmet Aerospace
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Howmet Aerospace Inc. (HWM - Free Report) has emerged as one of the standout performers within the aerospace and industrial manufacturing space on Wall Street in 2026, significantly outperforming many peers in the broader industrials sector. While several manufacturing and defense-related companies have faced volatility from slowing global growth, tariff uncertainty and shifting investor sentiment, Howmet has continued to benefit from robust aerospace demand and strong execution across its Precision Metal Components and Engineered Solutions businesses.

The company, which supplies mission-critical components for aircraft engines, gas turbines and heavy trucks, has seen its stock surge sharply this year as investors rewarded its consistent earnings growth and expanding margins. Howmet’s shares have climbed more than 100% over the past year, substantially outpacing broader industrial benchmarks and several aerospace peers. Strong demand from commercial aviation has remained a major driver, particularly as Boeing and Airbus continue ramping up aircraft production to meet global travel demand.

Earnings Growth and Margin Expansion Impress InvestorsHWM reported first-quarter 2026 adjusted earnings of $1.22 per share, reflecting a 41.9% increase from the prior-year quarter. The figure also exceeded the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.11 per share. The company generated revenues of $2.31 billion during the quarter, marking a 19.1% year-over-year rise and topping the consensus estimate of $2.24 billion. The strong performance was driven by healthy demand across major end markets, particularly commercial aerospace and gas turbines.

Unlike many industrial manufacturers exposed to weaker cyclical markets, Howmet has benefited from its concentration in high-value aerospace systems and turbine technologies. Its Engine Products and Fastening Systems segments have delivered particularly strong growth, supported by demand for fuel-efficient aircraft and aftermarket engine components. Investors have also responded positively to the company’s improving profitability, share buybacks and raised 2026 guidance.

Turbine Exposure Strengthens Long-Term Growth StoryAnother factor supporting the stock has been the company’s exposure to structural growth themes, such as energy infrastructure and gas turbines. Market discussions increasingly highlight Howmet’s strong competitive position in turbine blade manufacturing, an industry with high barriers to entry and rising global demand.

As of May 19, HWM, which carries a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy), remains the only stock from the Zacks Aerospace - Defense industry that is not ranked #3 (Hold) or worse. Huntington Ingalls Industries, Inc. (HII - Free Report) and Embraer S.A. (EMBJ - Free Report) , two of its peers from the same industry, carry a #3 rank. HWM stock has soared 25.3% year to date against declines of 12.4% and 3.2% for Embraer and Huntington Ingalls, respectively. You can see the complete list of today’s Zacks #1 Rank (Strong Buy) stocks here.

Bottom LineWhile the stock has experienced occasional pullbacks alongside the broader aerospace sector, Howmet continues to emerge as one of the stronger names in industrial manufacturing due to its pricing power, diversified aerospace exposure and strong cash-flow generation.

Is Howmet (HWM) a Solid Growth Stock? 3 Reasons to Think "Yes"
HWM Howmet Aerospace
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Growth stocks are attractive to many investors, as above-average financial growth helps these stocks easily grab the market's attention and produce exceptional returns. But finding a great growth stock is not easy at all.

That's because, these stocks usually carry above-average risk and volatility. In fact, betting on a stock for which the growth story is actually over or nearing its end could lead to significant loss.

However, it's pretty easy to find cutting-edge growth stocks with the help of the Zacks Growth Style Score (part of the Zacks Style Scores system), which looks beyond the traditional growth attributes to analyze a company's real growth prospects.

Howmet (HWM - Free Report) is on the list of such stocks currently recommended by our proprietary system. In addition to a favorable Growth Score, it carries a top Zacks Rank.

Studies have shown that stocks with the best growth features consistently outperform the market. And returns are even better for stocks that possess the combination of a Growth Score of A or B and a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy) or 2 (Buy).

While there are numerous reasons why the stock of this maker of engineered products for the aerospace and other industries is a great growth pick right now, we have highlighted three of the most important factors below:

Earnings GrowthEarnings growth is arguably the most important factor, as stocks exhibiting exceptionally surging profit levels tend to attract the attention of most investors. For growth investors, double-digit earnings growth is highly preferable, as it is often perceived as an indication of strong prospects (and stock price gains) for the company under consideration.

While the historical EPS growth rate for Howmet is 40%, investors should actually focus on the projected growth. The company's EPS is expected to grow 29% this year, crushing the industry average, which calls for EPS growth of 12.5%.

Cash Flow GrowthWhile cash is the lifeblood of any business, higher-than-average cash flow growth is more important and beneficial for growth-oriented companies than for mature companies. That's because, growth in cash flow enables these companies to expand their businesses without depending on expensive outside funds.

Right now, year-over-year cash flow growth for Howmet is 31.2%, which is higher than many of its peers. In fact, the rate compares to the industry average of 8.3%.

While investors should actually consider the current cash flow growth, it's worth taking a look at the historical rate too for putting the current reading into proper perspective. The company's annualized cash flow growth rate has been 21.3% over the past 3-5 years versus the industry average of 12.2%.

Promising Earnings Estimate RevisionsSuperiority of a stock in terms of the metrics outlined above can be further validated by looking at the trend in earnings estimate revisions. A positive trend is of course favorable here. Empirical research shows that there is a strong correlation between trends in earnings estimate revisions and near-term stock price movements.

There have been upward revisions in current-year earnings estimates for Howmet. The Zacks Consensus Estimate for the current year has surged 9.9% over the past month.

Bottom LineWhile the overall earnings estimate revisions have made Howmet a Zacks Rank #2 stock, it has earned itself a Growth Score of B based on a number of factors, including the ones discussed above.

You can see the complete list of today's Zacks #1 Rank (Strong Buy) stocks here.

This combination indicates that Howmet is a potential outperformer and a solid choice for growth investors.

Howmet Aerospace (HWM) Price Forecast: Breakout Targets Near $300
HWM Howmet Aerospace
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Earnings Breakout Fuels New Record High Howmet Aerospace Inc. (HWM) reported Q1 2026 earnings pre-market on May 7, and its stock subsequently gapped up and broke out of a symmetrical triangle pattern into a new trend high. A new record high was established that day at $280.74, leading to the first pullback following the significant breakout. That advance completed a 127.2% Fibonacci extension at $280.05, where resistance subsequently emerged.

The company is an industrial and aerospace supplier of engineered components and has benefited from strong sector demand and a diversified product mix, helping support the bullish continuation that followed the earnings-driven breakout.

HWM daily chart shows first pullback after symmetrical triangle breakout  Confluence Support Strengthens Bullish Case A retracement low of $250.85 was established on Tuesday, resulting in a higher swing low by Wednesday, as a one-day bullish reversal signal triggered. Support was validated by a confluence of support levels, including a 61.8% Fibonacci retracement at $251.43, the top boundary line of the triangle formation, and the 20-day moving average. This confluence increases the potential significance of the support zone and raises the chance that the retracement is over, allowing the bullish breakout trajectory to potentially resume. This new swing low is now a key near-term support level.

HWM has been in a strong bullish trend that has largely retained dynamic support above or near the 100-day moving average. Two recent declines found support again near the 100-day line. The successful test of support near the 20-day moving average sets the stage for it to become dynamic support for the near-term bull trend. If bullish momentum picks up, then the 10-day average should take the leading position as the nearest dynamic support indicator to price.

HWM weekly chart shows strong bull trend near 20-week average trend support  Weekly Chart Reinforces Uptrend Structure The weekly chart shows the 20-week moving average marked as strong trend support since May 2025, along with the midline of a rising trend channel. Notably, support was seen for the week at $250.85, near a confluence zone formed by the channel midline and the 10-week moving average. The fact that those two indicators line up on the same week they are tested as support is also bullish as it provides additional confirmation of trend timing and underlying strength.

As mentioned above, the first Fibonacci extension upside target was met on the initial breakout thrust. This leaves the 161.8% Fibonacci extension at $296.26 as a potential target. There is also a measured move derived from the symmetrical triangle. Interestingly, it aligns closely with the extension target at approximately $296.81, further reinforcing the significance of the broader breakout structure first triggered following the May 7 earnings release.

Wall Street Analysts Think Howmet (HWM) Is a Good Investment: Is It?
HWM Howmet Aerospace
FMP Stock News
Original source text
The recommendations of Wall Street analysts are often relied on by investors when deciding whether to buy, sell, or hold a stock. Media reports about these brokerage-firm-employed (or sell-side) analysts changing their ratings often affect a stock's price. Do they really matter, though?

Before we discuss the reliability of brokerage recommendations and how to use them to your advantage, let's see what these Wall Street heavyweights think about Howmet (HWM - Free Report) .

While the ABR calls for buying Howmet, it may not be wise to make an investment decision solely based on this information. Several studies have shown limited to no success of brokerage recommendations in guiding investors to pick stocks with the best price increase potential.

Do you wonder why? As a result of the vested interest of brokerage firms in a stock they cover, their analysts tend to rate it with a strong positive bias. According to our research, brokerage firms assign five "Strong Buy" recommendations for every "Strong Sell" recommendation.

This means that the interests of these institutions are not always aligned with those of retail investors, giving little insight into the direction of a stock's future price movement. It would therefore be best to use this information to validate your own analysis or a tool that has proven to be highly effective at predicting stock price movements.

Zacks Rank Should Not Be Confused With ABRIn spite of the fact that Zacks Rank and ABR both appear on a scale from 1 to 5, they are two completely different measures.

It has been and continues to be the case that analysts employed by brokerage firms are overly optimistic with their recommendations. Because of their employers' vested interests, these analysts issue more favorable ratings than their research would support, misguiding investors far more often than helping them.

In contrast, the Zacks Rank is driven by earnings estimate revisions. And near-term stock price movements are strongly correlated with trends in earnings estimate revisions, according to empirical research.

Furthermore, the different grades of the Zacks Rank are applied proportionately across all stocks for which brokerage analysts provide earnings estimates for the current year. In other words, at all times, this tool maintains a balance among the five ranks it assigns.

Is HWM a Good Investment?Looking at the earnings estimate revisions for Howmet, the Zacks Consensus Estimate for the current year has increased 10.4% over the past month to $4.96.

3 Reasons Why Growth Investors Shouldn't Overlook Howmet (HWM)
HWM Howmet Aerospace
FMP Stock News

Growth investors focus on stocks that are seeing above-average financial growth, as this feature helps these securities garner the market's attention and deliver solid returns. But finding a growth stock that can live up to its true potential can be a tough task.

By their very nature, these stocks carry above-average risk and volatility. Moreover, if a company's growth story is over or nearing its end, betting on it could lead to significant loss.

However, the task of finding cutting-edge growth stocks is made easy with the help of the Zacks Growth Style Score (part of the Zacks Style Scores system), which looks beyond the traditional growth attributes to analyze a company's real growth prospects.

Howmet (HWM - Free Report) is one such stock that our proprietary system currently recommends. The company not only has a favorable Growth Score, but also carries a top Zacks Rank.

Research shows that stocks carrying the best growth features consistently beat the market. And for stocks that have a combination of a Growth Score of A or B and a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy) or 2 (Buy), returns are even better.

While there are numerous reasons why the stock of this maker of engineered products for the aerospace and other industries is a great growth pick right now, we have highlighted three of the most important factors below:

Earnings GrowthArguably nothing is more important than earnings growth, as surging profit levels is what most investors are after. And for growth investors, double-digit earnings growth is definitely preferable, and often an indication of strong prospects (and stock price gains) for the company under consideration.

While the historical EPS growth rate for Howmet is 40%, investors should actually focus on the projected growth. The company's EPS is expected to grow 31.6% this year, crushing the industry average, which calls for EPS growth of 12.6%.

Cash Flow GrowthCash is the lifeblood of any business, but higher-than-average cash flow growth is more beneficial and important for growth-oriented companies than for mature companies. That's because, high cash accumulation enables these companies to undertake new projects without raising expensive outside funds.

Promising Earnings Estimate RevisionsBeyond the metrics outlined above, investors should consider the trend in earnings estimate revisions. A positive trend is a plus here. Empirical research shows that there is a strong correlation between trends in earnings estimate revisions and near-term stock price movements.

The current-year earnings estimates for Howmet have been revising upward. The Zacks Consensus Estimate for the current year has surged 10.4% over the past month.

Bottom LineWhile the overall earnings estimate revisions have made Howmet a Zacks Rank #2 stock, it has earned itself a Growth Score of B based on a number of factors, including the ones discussed above.

This combination positions Howmet well for outperformance, so growth investors may want to bet on it.

After experiencing growth of 21% in 2025, revenues from the defense aerospace market increased 10% year over year in first-quarter 2026. ITA Investors: Watch These Two Events Over the Next 30 Days
HWM Howmet Aerospace
FMP Stock News
Original source text
The iShares U.S. Aerospace & Defense ETF (NYSEARCA:ITA) is sitting on a 34% one-year gain heading into June, with shares at roughly $235 and $13.5 billion in net assets. Two events in the next four weeks will largely decide whether ITA keeps running: the Pentagon’s FY2027 budget moving through Congress, and the June 29 Honeywell Aerospace spin-off that reshuffles the fund’s holdings. Both belong on the radar of any ITA holder.

What the fund actually owns ITA tracks the Dow Jones U.S. Select Aerospace & Defense Index at a 0.38% net expense ratio. GE Aerospace (NYSE:GE | GE Price Prediction) alone is 19% of net assets, with RTX at roughly 17% and Boeing (NYSE:BA) at nearly 9%. That top trio is roughly 44% of the portfolio. Adding General Dynamics and Lockheed Martin lifts the top five to roughly 54%. When people buy ITA, they are really buying GE, RTX, and Boeing, with a defense overlay.

The macro factor: the $1.45 trillion FY2027 budget The single biggest driver over the next 12 months is the $1.45 trillion FY2027 Department of War budget request, a roughly 42% increase over the FY2026 enacted level. Procurement is set to jump from $163.6 billion to $257.6 billion, with RDT&E moving to $218.8 billion. The request specifically funds $18 billion for Golden Dome and over $74 billion for drone and counter-drone systems, plus next-generation programs like the F-47 and B-21.

Watch appropriations markup language and any continuing resolution that delays procurement obligations past October 1. The data lives on the House and Senate Armed Services Committee pages and on Comptroller.defense.gov. Check monthly through summer markup, then weekly through September. Lockheed already telegraphed how this flows through, signing multi-year framework agreements for Patriot, THAAD, and PrSM that target 3 to 4 times current production rates. If the budget passes near the request, ITA’s defense primes get multi-year visibility. A CR that runs deep into FY2027 would extend that visibility.

The fund-specific factor: the June 29 Honeywell split Honeywell completes its aerospace spin-off on June 29, 2026, creating a separately traded Honeywell Aerospace under the ticker HONA. Honeywell does not currently appear in ITA’s March 31 snapshot, but the new pure-play HONA is a near-certain index addition at the next reconstitution. The Aerospace Technologies segment generated $4.32 billion in Q1 revenue at a 1.1x book-to-bill, so this is a meaningful new constituent.

For holders, watch the iShares website for the index methodology notice and the post-spin holdings file, typically posted within two trading days of an event. If HONA prices weakly out of the gate, ITA’s NAV absorbs that on the add. The opportunity is that a clean aerospace pure-play arrives just as GE Aerospace is guiding FY2026 EPS to $7.10 to $7.40 on a $170 billion commercial services backlog, validating the aftermarket thesis HONA will be sold on.

The supporting cast and one warning Howmet Aerospace (NYSE:HWM) raised FY2026 guidance to $4.88 to $5.00 in adjusted EPS after Engine Products grew 29%, though CEO John Plant flagged Iranian-conflict risk to engine spares demand. General Dynamics reported a 2-to-1 book-to-bill and $188.4 billion in estimated contract value. The warning sign is Lockheed: $125 million in F-16 charges compressed segment margins to about 10% from nearly 12%, and the stock is down 5% since earnings while the S&P rose nearly 7%. If C-130, CH-53K, or Seahawk charges repeat in Q2, that roughly 4.58% LMT position becomes a persistent drag.

What to watch in one line If Congress passes FY2027 defense appropriations near the $1.45 trillion request before October 1, ITA’s defense weighting carries another year of upside. The fund-specific signal is the post-June 29 holdings file: confirm HONA’s weight and watch whether GE Aerospace stays above 18%, because that single position drives the index more than any macro headline.
