Cardano Weekly Chart Puts $3 in View After CMTA Recognition, but ADA Must Break Its Descending Channel | CoinGecko News
|
Original source text
Cardano remains trapped inside a long-running descending channel on the weekly chart, leaving ADA with an important technical hurdle before higher levels at $0.41, $0.78, $1.18, and eventually $3 can come into play.- Advertisement - The setup arrives as Cardano gains a new institutional credential. The Capital Markets and Technology Association (CMTA) recently recognized Cardano’s CIP-0113 Programmable Asset Tokens implementation as equivalent to its CMTAT standard for tokenized shares. This means issuers can use the Cardano implementation to issue ledger-based equity securities eligible for certification under CMTA’s Tokenized Shares scheme. CMTA’s ecosystem includes major Swiss financial institutions such as UBS, Pictet and Lombard Odier. UBS reported $7.3 trillion in invested assets at the end of September. Importantly, the primary sources confirm CMTA recognition of Cardano’s token standard, rather than Cardano becoming a CMTA member. - Advertisement - ADA Remains Inside Weekly Descending Channel The attached Binance ADA/USDT weekly chart shows Cardano continuing to trade inside a descending channel formed after its previous advance. Cardano’s Binance weekly chart shows ADA trading inside a descending channel, with support near $0.1411 and $0.25 emerging as the first breakout test before $0.41, $0.78 and $1.18. The structure resembles earlier bearish channels highlighted on the same chart. In previous cycles, ADA repeatedly moved lower between descending parallel trendlines before eventually establishing a bottom and beginning a larger recovery. - Advertisement - In the current structure, ADA fell toward the highlighted $0.1411 support region, produced a rebound toward roughly $0.25 and then pulled back again. The latest section of the chart places ADA around $0.19, broadly consistent with the current CoinMarketCap quotation near $0.193. That rebound has therefore not yet produced a confirmed trend reversal. ADA remains underneath the upper boundary of the descending channel. The green area around $0.14-$0.17 represents the main support zone visible on the chart. Holding above that region keeps the possibility of a higher low alive. A sustained weekly breakdown below approximately $0.1411, however, would weaken the proposed bottoming structure. $0.25 Comes Before the Larger Cardano Targets For the bullish scenario, the first meaningful obstacle is around $0.25, where the descending trendline and recent rebound high converge. From a starting price of $0.193, ADA would need to gain approximately 29.5% to reach $0.25. More importantly, simply touching that area would not confirm a breakout. ADA would need to establish a weekly close above the descending channel and then hold above the broken trendline to provide stronger evidence that the multi-month downtrend is ending. Only after that confirmation would the higher horizontal levels become increasingly relevant. The chart identifies $0.41 as the next major resistance. This level previously acted as an important boundary during earlier stages of the decline. Above $0.41, the chart maps $0.78 and $1.18 as subsequent resistance zones. Both correspond to areas where ADA previously encountered substantial price activity. The much more distant $3 level sits at the top of the projection. It is close to Cardano’s historical peak region, but the chart does not establish that ADA will reach $3 simply because similar descending structures occurred before. CMTA Recognition Strengthens Cardano’s Tokenization Case The fundamental development behind the setup concerns regulated asset issuance rather than ADA price directly. CMTA’s Expert Committee determined that Cardano’s programmable token implementation contains the functions required by its framework for tokenizing equity securities. The system supports controls including KYC-restricted transfers, freezes, forced transfers, seizures and supply limitations. This gives issuers another blockchain option for securities that can meet the CMTA Tokenized Shares certification framework. It does not, by itself, guarantee increased ADA demand or a technical breakout. For now, Cardano’s next observable test remains much closer to current price: ADA must protect the $0.14-$0.17 support region and then overcome the descending weekly trendline around the $0.25 area before $0.41 and the larger targets become technically relevant. - Advertisement - |

Cardano long liquidations surge 1,449% after sharp price drop, Binance hack weighs on sentiment | CoinGecko News
|
Original source text
Cardano markets faced significant volatility after a sharp price decline triggered an unexpected liquidation imbalance, with bullish traders caught on the wrong side of selling pressure. Data from CoinGlass indicated that Cardano recorded $217,710 in long liquidations compared to $15,020 for short positions, resulting in an imbalance of 1,449% between the two sides.Fallout from Binance hack shakes crypto sentimentThe broader cryptocurrency landscape has yet to recover from a downturn in sentiment following the large-scale Binance hack on October 29. The incident impacted $6.3 billion in crypto assets. Binance commenced phased withdrawals on Sunday, processing $4.65 billion in withdrawals against $1.01 billion in deposits, resulting in a net outflow of $3.64 billion according to the exchange. The company reported that 95% of stolen funds have now been covered. The FBI attributed the theft to the North Korean-affiliated TraderTraitor group. Although the Cardano and Midnight ecosystems were spared from direct losses—the stolen assets did not include ADA or NIGHT tokens—the prevailing negative sentiment has still affected market performance. Prices for both tokens have tracked the downward trend in line with the broader market retreat. Cardano price action and liquidationsCardano (ADA) slipped 1.29% in the last 24 hours, trading at $0.19. Over the past week, it has fallen 8%, struggling to move above $0.197 after reaching a low of $0.182 on October 30. The decline has weighed heavily on leveraged long traders, leading to the pronounced liquidation imbalance. In this scenario, the liquidation of long positions significantly outpaced shorts, resulting in forced selling that further pressured prices. Cardano’s long liquidations totaled $217,710, dwarfing the $15,020 seen on the short side—an imbalance that reached 1,449% as bullish traders were rapidly squeezed out of their positions. Development progress and ecosystem updatesDespite the challenging trading environment, development within the Cardano ecosystem continues. Intersect’s latest update revealed that Node 11.2 is now available as a pre-release. This update advances the Dijkstra era, bringing the hard fork feature set closer to ecosystem-wide testing and integration, with the exception of Leios. The milestone is expected to support downstream teams as they begin integrating and testing updated tools, laying groundwork for the network’s long-term roadmap. Meanwhile, work is ongoing on the Leios-inclusive Node 11.3 prototype in the Musashi Dojo testing environment. In addition, teams are focused on refining Plutus V4 cost models, drafting scope documentation, developing constitutional amendments, and improving delivery risk management. Estimates suggest that Node 11.3 will enter pre-release in approximately 3 to 4 weeks, or 2 weeks at the earliest. SanchoNet is also anticipated to join other Cardano testnets as they transition to the Dijkstra era in parallel. Given the heightened volatility surrounding ADA, investors aiming to track these rapid liquidation events and price swings can benefit from real-time charting and customizable portfolio options. CryptoAppsy provides Cardano holders with continuous market monitoring, instant alerts for major price moves, and up-to-date news—all in one interface—empowering users to react swiftly as trading imbalances develop. |

Cardano’s eUTXO model enables smart contract parallelism, introduces new risks | CoinGecko News
|
Original source text
Cardano, a leading proof-of-stake blockchain platform developed by Input Output Global, utilizes the extended unspent transaction output (eUTXO) model to track value and execute smart contract transactions. Unlike traditional account-based systems, Cardano’s model relies on the concept of unspent outputs, where each transaction consumes existing outputs and produces new ones. This process is governed by Plutus scripts, Cardano’s smart contract programming framework, which determines whether a specific output can be spent.Core features of Cardano’s eUTXO modelThe eUTXO model, introduced with Cardano’s Alonzo upgrade in September 2021, expands on the conventional UTXO approach by attaching programmable logic and optional data directly to outputs. This enables more advanced smart contract functionality and supports native multi-asset transactions on the Cardano network. Each unspent transaction output (UTXO) holds value and associated data and must be consumed in full when used as an input for a new transaction. Any remaining value is returned in a newly created output. Transaction inputs are explicitly referenced rather than adjusting a shared account balance. A validator, implemented as a Plutus script, examines proposed transactions to confirm they meet predetermined spending conditions. These conditions are verified using an attached datum (data associated with the output), a redeemer (instructions for spending), and the context of the transaction itself. If the transaction satisfies all required checks, it consumes its chosen inputs and generates new outputs, which may establish contract state for future transactions on Cardano. Mini dictionary: Plutus refers to Cardano’s native smart contract development language, tailored for creating and managing advanced decentralized applications on the Cardano blockchain. Plutus scripts enforce rules for spending outputs and provide programmability to Cardano’s network. Inline datums and transaction dataInline datum functionality, described in Cardano Improvement Proposal 32 (CIP-32), enables storing the relevant datum information directly within a transaction output. This feature reduces the need for transactions to resupply the entire datum each time an output is spent, streamlining contract operations and enhancing flexibility for dApp developers. Parallel processing and conflict managementOne of the major benefits Cardano’s eUTXO model offers is support for parallel transaction processing. Since each UTXO can only be consumed once, independent transactions that reference different UTXOs can be validated simultaneously. However, when multiple transactions attempt to spend the same UTXO, conflicts can occur, and only one can succeed. Developers can address resource contention using approaches such as fan-out (splitting outputs among many users), batching of similar actions, or utilizing reference inputs. Application design plays a key role in managing bottlenecks, as the model’s promises of parallelism depend on how outputs are architected. ComparisonCardano eUTXOShared-state (Account-based)State representationTracks value and data within distinct outputsUses account balances or centralized contract statesTransaction spendingConsumes specified outputs onceUpdates shared balances or state entriesValidation logicValidator checks spend permissionsContract updates state based on logicParallelismParallel validation if UTXOs differCoordination required for shared stateRisks and developer guidancePre-submission checks on Cardano can simulate transaction validity and script costs, but cannot guarantee inclusion in the blockchain. If another transaction spends a required input first, the original transaction will fail to execute. The model’s concurrency benefits apply only when transactions do not compete for the same UTXO. The eUTXO framework underpins how contracts validate transactions but does not assure the overall safety or profitability of tokens, dApps, or assets. Risks unrelated to the transaction model, such as smart contract vulnerabilities, exchange failures, scams, regulatory changes, and volatility, still pose threats to users. Cardano’s development team stated that updates such as Dijkstra batch validation were implemented to aggregate Plutus sub-transactions, with execution budgets applying toward block and fee limits. They also reported ongoing upgrades to Cardano Node and the Plutus script context, clarifying that not all releases signify a network hard fork. Frequently asked questionsThe Cardano eUTXO model serves as the blockchain’s principal method for recording and verifying ownership and transaction logic. Transactions expend selected outputs and generate new ones, with validator scripts determining spend eligibility based on attached data and context. Datum, redeemer, and transaction context collectively allow Plutus validators to assess if a spend action is legitimate. Parallel validation is possible when transactions touch different UTXOs; however, simultaneous attempts to access one UTXO will compete, and only one can proceed. |

Tether burns 2 billion USDT from its Treasury address | CoinGecko News
|
Original source text
The stablecoin issuer pulled a large chunk of tokens out of circulation, its latest in a series of big supply cuts this yearTether Treasury has burned 2 billion USDT, according to blockchain monitor Whale Alert. At USDT’s intended one-to-one dollar peg, that is about $2 billion in tokens permanently removed from circulation. The burn is dated October 31, 2026. It joins a lineup of other large burns already recorded this year. What a burn actually means A stablecoin burn works on the same logic as a casino cashing out chips. When holders redeem USDT for fiat currency, Tether destroys the matching tokens. That keeps the number of tokens in circulation in line with the dollars backing them. Burns typically run through Tether’s Treasury address. That is the wallet the company uses to mint new USDT and to retire tokens it takes back. Whale Alert and other on-chain monitors flagged this transaction. They have flagged earlier large burns too, framing them as standard supply management rather than an emergency. A busy year for the shredder This 2 billion USDT burn is big. It is not the biggest of 2026. On July 7, Tether burned 2.5 billion USDT. Additional burns landed on May 8 and August 21. There may be more on the way. Also on October 31, 223 million USDT moved from Bitfinex to the Tether Treasury. Tokens heading back to the Treasury can hint at future redemptions or burns, though a transfer alone doesn’t confirm either outcome. For context, USDT’s circulating supply sat at approximately $180 billion to $184 billion in late October 2026. Against that base, a 2 billion USDT burn trims a bit over one percent of the float. The balance sheet behind the burn Tether’s Q3 2026 attestation reported a quarterly profit of $1.5 billion. It also showed excess reserves nearly doubling to $7.95 billion. The attestation listed $191.45 billion in total assets against $183.5 billion in liabilities. The gap between those two figures is the cushion, the $7.95 billion in excess reserves. Liabilities here are essentially the USDT in circulation, since each token represents a claim on a dollar. Assets are what Tether holds to honor those claims. When the first number comfortably exceeds the second, redemptions can be paid without a scramble. What this means for the stablecoin market USDT is the plumbing of much of the crypto market. Traders use it to move between exchanges, park funds between positions, and settle trades. A shrinking supply can point to lower demand for on-chain dollars. When users redeem stablecoins for fiat, that money often leaves the crypto ecosystem, at least temporarily. With supply still in the $180 billion to $184 billion range, a 2 billion USDT burn does not reshape the landscape. The year has already seen larger burns come and go. There are caveats worth keeping in view. Attestations are snapshots, not continuous audits. They show the balance sheet at a point in time, and the composition of reserves matters as much as the headline total. For now, the next things to watch are straightforward. First, whether the 223 million USDT sent from Bitfinex to the Treasury ends up redeemed or burned. Second, whether circulating supply keeps hovering in its current range or starts drifting lower. Third, whether the next attestation shows the excess reserve cushion holding near $7.95 billion or continuing to grow. Disclosure: This article was edited by Kaye Quema. Tether freezes over $4.5m USDT linked to Mercado Bitcoin breach | CoinGecko News
|
Original source text
Tether froze more than 4.5 million USDT linked to Mercado Bitcoin’s Nov. 2 security incident, as the Brazilian exchange suspended deposits and withdrawals while investigating suspicious fund movements.Summary Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino confirmed the freeze of more than 4.5 million USDT. Mercado Bitcoin said it contained the incident, with no customer harm or data breach. Deposits and withdrawals were temporarily suspended while the exchange investigated and tracked affected assets. The exchange published destination addresses across five blockchain categories to support tracking efforts. Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino announced the freeze while sharing Mercado Bitcoin’s official statement about the breach. His announcement provided a specific amount of USDT blocked in connection with the incident, following reports of suspicious outflows exceeding $40 million. “Tether froze more than 4.5M USDT related to this security incident,” Ardoino wrote. The announcement described a freeze, without saying the tokens had been returned to Mercado Bitcoin. The exchange’s own updates focused on containing the incident, tracing assets and restoring operations safely. Mercado Bitcoin suspends transfers after containing breach In its initial statement, Mercado Bitcoin said it identified and swiftly contained a security incident affecting one of its systems early that morning. The exchange said customers suffered no harm and that there had been no data breach. It described the temporary suspension of deposits and withdrawals as a precautionary measure taken to protect the platform while its teams investigated. Mercado Bitcoin said those teams were tracking assets and coordinating measures with the relevant authorities. Its statement did not describe a customer reimbursement process, consistent with the company’s assertion that customers had not suffered losses. In a subsequent update, the company said it continued working to restore operations safely and would keep customers informed through official channels. The update maintained the focus on recovery work and asset tracking without announcing that deposits or withdrawals had reopened. For customers, the operational restriction therefore remained separate from the exchange’s assurance about their balances: Mercado Bitcoin said customers had not been harmed, while transfers into and out of the platform were temporarily unavailable. Exchange shares addresses across five blockchain categories Mercado Bitcoin’s follow-up published destination addresses identified in transactions related to the incident, covering EVM-compatible networks, Bitcoin, Solana, Stellar and Tron. The company said it was releasing the addresses to contribute to monitoring and tracking assets on blockchain networks. It specified that the list was disclosed exclusively for identification and tracking purposes. Its EVM entry identified the address 0xe485e7A70b1131216Cb47CA4555c4Bbb2C742478. Separate entries listed destinations for BTC, SOL, XLM and TRON, giving investigators and other market participants references for following transactions associated with the breach. The disclosure did not assign a dollar value to each destination or identify how much of the affected assets sat on each network. Ardoino’s announcement likewise did not allocate the frozen USDT between the published addresses. Brazilian outlet BitNotícias reported that security company Hypernative had flagged more than $40 million in suspicious transfers from wallets attributed to Mercado Bitcoin. According to that report, the movements involved newly created destination addresses across at least 10 blockchain networks. The reported outflow estimate and Tether’s freeze cover different measures: one concerns suspicious transfers across multiple assets and networks, while the other identifies USDT blocked by its issuer. Neither announcement established a final recoverable total. Hypernative had already joined Brazil’s monitoring push Hypernative’s reported alert follows earlier work involving the company and Brazil’s financial sector. As crypto.news reported in August, Brazil’s central bank had developed a real-time crypto threat monitoring and alert-sharing system with Hypernative. Mercado Bitcoin and Foxbit were among the exchanges named as participants in its planned integration. The project was designed to distribute warnings between banks and crypto companies when suspicious funds moved through the financial system. Testing had been completed, with participating organizations preparing their systems to receive and redistribute alerts. That earlier report described the monitoring project’s development and intended participants. Mercado Bitcoin’s Nov. 2 statements described its own investigation and coordination with authorities, without identifying which alert-sharing infrastructure was used during this incident. Tether’s US enforcement work shows its freeze process Tether has previously described asset freezes as a way to prevent further movement of funds linked to suspected unlawful activity. In an April 23 announcement, the issuer said it supported US authorities in freezing $344 million USDT across two addresses after receiving information about alleged unlawful conduct. At that time, Tether said it worked with more than 340 law enforcement agencies across 65 countries. Its disclosed cooperation included more than 1,200 cases tied to US law enforcement. For the Mercado Bitcoin incident, the exchange said its teams were continuing asset tracking and working to restore operations, with further updates to be issued through its official channels. |

Brazil's Largest Exchange Mercado Bitcoin Halts Withdrawals After $40 Million Hack | CoinGecko News
|
Original source text
In brief Mercado Bitcoin suspended deposits and withdrawals on Monday after a security incident, saying customers lost nothing and no data leaked. Blockchain security firm Hypernative flagged more than $40 million in suspicious transfers across at least 10 blockchains; the exchange has not confirmed that figure. Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino said the stablecoin issuer froze more than 4.5 million USDT tied to the incident. Brazil's largest crypto exchange, Mercado Bitcoin, suspended deposits and withdrawals on Monday after identifying a security incident in one of its systems in the early hours of the morning. The exchange said no customer lost money and no data leaked."We identified and quickly contained a security incident in one of our systems early this morning," Mercado Bitcoin said in a Portuguese-language statement on X. "As a preventive protection measure, deposits and withdrawals are temporarily suspended." $11.27K volume Closes: Jan 1, 2027, 04:59 UTC Closes: Jan 1, 2027, 04:59 UTC Blockchain security firm Hypernative flagged more than $40 million in suspicious transfers that may be linked to the incident, according to a preliminary analysis that spans at least 10 blockchains, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and Tron. Mercado Bitcoin has not confirmed that figure and has not disclosed how the attackers got in. In a follow-up post, the exchange published the destination addresses it identified on five networks: EVM chains (blockchains built to run the same code as Ethereum), Bitcoin, Solana, Stellar, and Tron. It said the addresses were released only so others can identify and track the funds on-chain. — Mercado Bitcoin (@MercadoBitcoin) November 2, 2026 Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino said in a post on X that the stablecoin issuer has frozen more than 4.5 million USDT connected to the incident. USDT is a dollar-pegged stablecoin, and Tether can blacklist the addresses holding it so the tokens cannot be moved, though a freeze does not by itself return the funds to their owner. The incident comes days after hackers drained more than $6 billion from Binance on October 29, a theft the FBI attributed to North Korea's TraderTraitor group. Binance has since reopened withdrawals and said it replenished about 95% of the affected assets. Mercado Bitcoin has not linked the two incidents and has not said who is behind its own. Deposits and withdrawals at Mercado Bitcoin remain suspended, and the exchange has not given a date for resuming them. It said it will post regular updates on X. Mercado Bitcoin halts transfers as Tether freezes over 4.5M USDT | CoinGecko News
|
Original source text
Mercado Bitcoin suspended deposits and withdrawals after identifying a security incident in one of its systems on November 2. The Brazilian crypto exchange later published destination wallet addresses to help trace assets connected to the incident.Source: Pablo Sabbatella/X Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino said the company froze over 4.5 million USDT connected to the case. It is amongst other security incidents concerning crypto services, including Binance and old BTCPay Server software users, in the last few days. Arkham separately valued wallets it attributed to the attacker at approximately $46 million on November 2. The tracked portfolio also included about $5.03 million in USDT, $3.02 million in USDC, $1.78 million in PEPE, $1.63 million in AAVE, and $1.46 million in PAX Gold. Mercado Bitcoin publishes addresses to trace funds Mercado Bitcoin responded quickly after discovering the breach; they claim it occurred overnight and that customers were financially unaffected while no data was lost. They are investigating, tracking, and coordinating with the relevant authorities; deposits and withdrawals were stopped. Following this, in a separate address, Mercado Bitcoin issued details of the addresses used on other blockchains for its transfers, including Bitcoin, Solana, Stellar, Tron, and their Ethereum-based/compatible services. It claimed the addresses were being published purely for tracing purposes. The exchange also said it was working to restore operations safely and would keep customers informed through official channels. But there was no update about the reopening time or total financial impact. Tether blocks incident-linked tokens Ardoino disclosed Tether’s intervention while sharing Mercado Bitcoin’s initial announcement. “Tether froze more than 4.5M USDT related to this security incident,” he wrote. Source: X Tether can block transfers of its tokens at specific addresses, helping restrict their movement during an investigation. This was the second time in the last seven days that Tether has frozen funds associated with exploits. The latest was with Binance, when over $6 billion was exploited. Ardoino’s announcement left the next steps for those frozen tokens unspecified, including their possible return to Mercado Bitcoin. Binance and BTCPay respond to recent thefts The incident follows Binance’s disclosure that attackers stole approximately $6.3 billion from its wallets on October 29. Binance began reopening withdrawals on November 1 and committed to covering the losses. BTCPay Server issued an advisory of their own on November 2 after receiving reports that Bitcoin and Litecoin were stolen from wallets that stored the spending keys on impacted servers. They found web servers from version 2.4.1 or less were targeted, and the bad actors were also able to exploit a vulnerability that they patched in August through another method. BTCPay recommends moving to fresh servers and moving existing wallet/seed to the new one, since updating the affected software might leave an open door for hackers. The team added that wallets with their spending keys held outside the servers, like most hardware wallets, were unaffected by these thefts. It continues investigating the scope of the incident fully. Final Summary Mercado Bitcoin stopped deposits and withdrawals and shared addresses to help trace assets. Tether’s CEO reported freezing over 4.5 million USDT as Binance and BTCPay addressed separate recent incidents. |

USDT: Tether Freezes Over $1.5 Billion From Binance Hack, Keeping Funds Out of North Korea's Reach | CoinGecko News
|
Original source text
Tether Freezes Over $1.5 Billion From Binance Hack, Keeping Funds Out of North Korea’s ReachFunds frozen within 30 minutes of the attack, which the FBI has attributed to North Korea, cutting off a key source of funding for its weapons programme 2 November 2026 – Tether, the largest company in the digital asset industry, froze more than $1.5 billion in USD₮ within 30 minutes of the 29 October Binance hack, keeping those funds out of the reach of North Korea, which the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has identified as responsible for the attack. By moving quickly, Tether stopped the funds before they could be transferred, swapped or laundered. U.S. authorities have repeatedly warned that crypto theft is a key source of funding for North Korea’s nuclear weapons programme. “We have always said that USD₮ is the worst possible choice for criminals, and the Binance’ hack response shows why,” said Paolo Ardoino, CEO of Tether. “Within minutes of the hack, our team had frozen more than $1.5 billion. The FBI has confirmed North Korea was behind the attack. Proactivity and speed are built into how we operate. We work hard every day to protect users and the wider digital asset ecosystem. Anyone who thinks USD₮ is a good place to hide stolen funds should think again.” “In a crisis like this, minutes matter, and Tether responded in minutes,” said Bo Hines, CEO of Tether USA₮. “We moved immediately and stopped more than $1.5 billion from reaching the people behind this attack. That is a direct contribution to U.S. and global security. Protecting users, supporting law enforcement and keeping illicit money out of the financial system is central to how Tether operates, and it is why Tether is trusted to act when it matters most.” Tether works closely with U.S. and international law enforcement and industry partners to track illicit funds, support efforts to bring those responsible to justice and help prevent future attacks. A Track Record of Swift Action The Binance response is the latest in a long line of rapid interventions by Tether. Working with law enforcement, Tether can freeze funds while they are still within reach, before they disappear. That speed also protects users. In April 2026, when hackers linked to North Korea stole around $285 million from the Drift exchange, Tether committed $127.5 million to help affected users. Where other issuers can take days or weeks to act, Tether moves in minutes, both to stop stolen funds and to support the people affected. In the same month, acting on information from the U.S. Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and U.S. law enforcement, Tether froze more than $344 million in USD₮ across two addresses. OFAC designated those addresses as Central Bank of Iran identifiers the following day. In July, Tether froze a further $130 million across four wallets as Treasury expanded its designations, bringing Tether’s Iran-linked freezes this year to nearly $550 million. Tether has also taken action against sanctioned Russian activity, freezing around $23 million linked to the Garantex exchange with the U.S. Secret Service. Built to Support U.S. Sanctions and Law Enforcement Tether applies a wallet-freezing policy aligned with OFAC’s Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) List. The policy is not only forward-looking, but it is an industry-setting example of our abilities and productivity. For example, during the recent misinformation campaign against Tether, related to the Blumenthal report, the Company froze 99% of the addresses on the reported list before even one of the main blockchain analytics firms, Chainalysis, tagged those as belonging to Iran.. Tether works with more than 360 law enforcement agencies across 73 countries to assist investigations into illicit activity, including terrorist financing. The FBI and the U.S. Secret Service have been onboarded to Tether’s platform, and as of 31 October 2026, Tether had helped freeze more than 3,590 wallets holding approximately 1.6 billion USD₮ for the U.S. Department of Justice, Secret Service and FBI. In total, Tether has frozen more than 7 billion USD₮ in secondary market addresses (including the Binance freezes), most of it connected to fraud and thefts, particularly DeFi and exchange hacks. Approximately 1.2 billion USD₮ obtained through fraud and theft has been returned to its rightful owners and to law enforcement through reissuance. Mercado Bitcoin suspends deposits and withdrawals after $40 million security breach | CoinGecko News
|
Original source text
Brazil’s leading cryptocurrency exchange, Mercado Bitcoin, temporarily halted customer deposits and withdrawals on Monday following a security incident identified in one of its internal systems. The company stated that it quickly contained the breach and assured users that customer funds remain intact and there was no data leak.Exchange responds to security incidentIn an official announcement on X, Mercado Bitcoin said, “We identified and quickly contained a security incident in one of our systems early this morning. As a preventive protection measure, deposits and withdrawals are temporarily suspended.” The company has not commented on how the attackers gained access to its systems. Mercado Bitcoin emphasized it acted swiftly to prevent further impact, describing the suspension of deposits and withdrawals as a precaution to protect users while investigations continue. The exchange disclosed the relevant destination wallet addresses across five networks—EVM chains, Bitcoin, Solana, Stellar, and Tron—enabling coordination with industry peers to help identify and monitor potentially suspicious fund flows. Mini dictionary: Mercado Bitcoin is Brazil’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, serving millions of users and offering access to a wide range of digital assets in Latin America. Blockchain security firms and Tether take actionBlockchain security firm Hypernative reported identifying more than $40 million across at least 10 blockchains in potentially suspicious transfers connected to the security incident. Hypernative’s preliminary analysis spanned networks such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and Tron. Mercado Bitcoin has not confirmed this sum. Paolo Ardoino, CEO of Tether, announced that the stablecoin issuer froze over 4.5 million USDT linked to the flagged activity. According to Ardoino, this step aimed to prevent further movement of assets associated with the incident. Ardoino explained that Tether is able to blacklist addresses holding USDT if necessary, which prevents tokens from being transferred, even if it does not guarantee the recovery of the funds for the rightful owner. USDT, a dollar-pegged stablecoin, remains widely used for crypto trading, and Tether Inc. frequently coordinates with exchanges and authorities to address illicit activity involving its tokens. The FBI has attributed the Binance attack to the North Korean group TraderTraitor. Binance stated that it has since resumed withdrawals and restored approximately 95% of affected assets. Mercado Bitcoin has not linked its own security breach to the Binance incident. Investigations into the origins of the attack and the individuals responsible remain ongoing. At the time of reporting, Mercado Bitcoin has not announced when deposits and withdrawals will resume. The exchange pledged to provide regular updates through its official channels on X. |

Tether CEO casts the stablecoin giant as Asimov’s Foundation at Plan ₿ Forum | CoinGecko News
|
Original source text
Paolo Ardoino pitched open-source infrastructure as a hedge against civilizational decline, backed by a reported $1.5 billion quarterly profitTether CEO Paolo Ardoino walked onto the Plan ₿ Forum stage in Lugano and compared his company to the Foundation from Isaac Asimov’s science fiction. That is the outfit built to carry knowledge through a galactic dark age. His keynote was titled “Tether – A Psychohistory Implementation.” It borrowed Asimov’s idea of a predictive science of society. In Ardoino’s telling, decline cannot be stopped. The dark stretch that follows, however, can be shortened if open, unstoppable infrastructure is built in advance. The seed vault, funded by the Empire Ardoino framed Tether as a seed of light meant to survive whatever comes next. The concrete version of that pitch is an open-source technology plan aimed at widening financial inclusion and helping communities become more self-reliant. ZeroHedge, which covered the speech, pointed out the irony. The money funding this seed, it noted, comes from the Empire’s own debt, plus a growing pile of Swiss gold. Ardoino stressed that Tether wants to be more than a stablecoin issuer. He pointed to open-source protocols, self-custodial wallets, and community-built tools designed to cut dependence on centralized finance. He also highlighted QVAC, Tether’s local AI platform. It is designed to run intelligence directly on a user’s device instead of in a distant data center. Ardoino also referenced Tether’s ongoing push to expand USDT in emerging markets. Lugano doubles down The forum ran October 23-24, 2026, and drew more than 4,600 attendees. Sessions covered Bitcoin adoption, decentralized technology, AI, and stablecoin payments. One topic stood out for its ambition: integrating Bitcoin into pensions. Tether and the City of Lugano also reinforced their partnership with a 2026 memorandum. The agreement extends their collaboration to 2030 and recommits both sides to infrastructure, education, and applied research. Merchants in Lugano are starting to accept Bitcoin payments. Municipalities are exploring Bitcoin for treasury allocations, and corporate treasury discussions featured at the event as well. A very profitable Foundation The company reported a net operating profit of $1.5 billion for Q3 2026. It also reported excess reserves of nearly $8 billion. Those figures come from Tether’s own reporting. Those numbers explain how a stablecoin issuer can afford to fund AI platforms, wallets, open-source protocols, and multi-year city partnerships at the same time. What this means For the crypto market, the speech confirms a strategic shift that Tether has been signaling for a while. The company wants to be seen as an infrastructure builder, not merely the issuer of USDT. There is an obvious tension to watch. Tether’s pitch is decentralization and independence from central points of failure. Yet Tether itself is a centralized company holding a large reserve and issuing a token that millions rely on. With the partnership now running to 2030, the city offers a long test of whether merchant Bitcoin payments and municipal treasury experiments can move beyond pilot status. Pension integration, if it ever advances past forum discussions, would be a far bigger signal than a café taking sats. QVAC deserves attention as a sign of where Tether is placing bets. A stablecoin company building local AI looks odd on paper. Within Ardoino’s framework, it fits: the goal is tools that keep working even when centralized services do not. Tether freezes $4.5 million USDT after Mercado Bitcoin hack in Brazil | CoinGecko News
|
Original source text
Tether has frozen over $4.5 million in USDT following a security breach targeting Mercado Bitcoin, Brazil’s largest cryptocurrency exchange. The freeze came after reports surfaced of more than $40 million in suspicious token transfers on the platform. In response to the incident, Mercado Bitcoin paused all deposits and withdrawals as it launched an investigation.Details of the Security BreachMercado Bitcoin reported that it detected the compromise of one of its systems during the early hours of November 2. The company stated it acted swiftly to contain the incident and emphasized that no customer funds had been lost and no user data was leaked. The exchange assured clients that their assets remained secure, though as a precaution, trading operations were temporarily suspended. Tether Chief Executive Paolo Ardoino acknowledged the freeze in a post on X, but did not disclose wallet addresses involved nor indicate whether the frozen USDT had been recovered by the exchange. No evidence was presented showing that blocked tokens were returned to Mercado Bitcoin. Mercado Bitcoin indicated that it contained the security incident quickly, with no damage to clients and no leak of user data. The company paused deposits and withdrawals as a protective measure, aiming to safeguard customer funds and maintain operational integrity. Blockchain security firm Hypernative flagged irregular token movements across multiple networks during the breach, according to Brazilian publication BitNotícias. Although Hypernative estimated a total of $40 million in suspicious transfers, the actual amount affected remains unverified. Suspicious transactions were identified on at least 10 blockchains, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Tron, Polygon, and Avalanche. Initial abnormalities were detected at approximately 02:15 UTC, followed by several large transactions between 06:19 and 06:53 UTC. Hypernative traced roughly 2,852 ETH, 106 BTC, and 10,700 SOL among the assets moved, but expressed uncertainty about the exact ownership of the wallets involved. Address Disclosure and Ongoing EffortsMercado Bitcoin published a list of blockchain addresses linked to the incident, spanning EVM-compatible networks, Bitcoin, Solana, Stellar, and Tron. This step aimed to assist investigators and third parties in tracking the movement of compromised assets. The company did not provide specific loss figures for each address and noted that some details, including the relationship of specific USDT holdings to the freeze, were unavailable. While Tether is able to freeze USDT associated with suspicious activities, the company cannot return blocked tokens directly to victims. Earlier this year, Tether reported collaborating with authorities on similar actions, including the freezing of $344 million USDT tied to illicit activities on two addresses. Tether stated that it has worked with more than 340 law enforcement agencies across 65 countries, supporting over 1,200 investigations involving suspicious transactions. These collaborations highlight the increasing role of stablecoin issuers in responding to security incidents in the crypto sector. Tether has demonstrated the ability to freeze tokens linked to compromised wallets, but clarified that the authority to move or return these tokens rests outside its purview and is typically managed by law enforcement agencies or the courts. Market participants seeking to monitor critical movements of USDT following hacks on exchanges such as Mercado Bitcoin can benefit from real-time alerts and transaction tracking. CryptoAppsy provides timely notifications tailored to specific tokens like USDT, enabling users to react swiftly by following live data as new developments unfold in response to security incidents. Mercado Bitcoin confirmed its team is working closely with Brazilian authorities while monitoring the affected tokens. So far, no information has emerged regarding any recovery or return of the frozen USDT. The total scope of assets involved in the security breach remains under review. |

Mercado Bitcoin confirms $46 million hack, stablecoin issuers freeze funds | CoinGecko News
|
Original source text
Mercado Bitcoin, recognized as one of Brazil’s largest cryptocurrency exchanges, reported a security breach resulting in over $46 million siphoned from its wallets on Monday. Despite the company’s immediate suspension of deposits and withdrawals, cryptocurrency addresses linked to the incident continued to process transactions for several hours following the announcement.Details of the AttackCybersecurity firms indicated the perpetrators conducted the theft through conventional transfers rather than exploiting vulnerabilities in smart contracts. Analysts identified that the attackers methodically targeted eight less prominent blockchains, including Base, Optimism, and Arbitrum, over a four-hour window before moving on to Mercado Bitcoin’s main hot wallets. Dickson Wu, senior security engineer at Certik, detailed in his post-incident analysis that the attackers extracted small amounts of Ether (ETH) from 27,160 different addresses, further complicating the trail of stolen funds. Wu emphasized the attackers’ capacity to move assets directly from customer deposit addresses linked to Mercado Bitcoin. So whoever did this can also move money out of MB’s customer deposit addresses, highlighting a broader vulnerability within Mercado Bitcoin’s infrastructure, according to Certik’s Dickson Wu. Following the company’s disclosure and operational suspension, digital assets continued to flow out of compromised addresses, and thousands of minor ETH transfers ultimately converged into a single account. Mini dictionary: Certik is a blockchain security firm specializing in auditing smart contracts and investigating crypto-related security incidents. Response and InvestigationA Mercado Bitcoin spokesperson stated that customers had not incurred financial losses and that personal data remained secure. However, the company did not address the ongoing asset transfers after the public announcement. If customer data were to be compromised, current Brazilian regulations would require Mercado Bitcoin to alert the national data protection authority. The entity or individuals responsible for the breach have not been identified, and investigations into the hack are ongoing. Asset Recovery EffortsAccording to available data at 4:42 pm UTC, stablecoin issuers Tether and Circle successfully froze approximately $6.2 million associated with the attack. Meanwhile, $20 million had already been moved to new crypto wallets, and roughly $20 million—including all 106 BTC connected to the incident—remained in addresses traced by Mercado Bitcoin. Asset StatusAmountFrozen by stablecoin issuers$6.2 millionMoved to new wallets$20 millionStill in identified addressesOver $20 million (including 106 BTC)As of July, Mercado Bitcoin reported a user base of 4.5 million. That same month, Tether, a leading stablecoin issuer, invested $20 million in the exchange to promote expansion into tokenization, payments, and credit services within Brazil’s growing digital asset market. Chile-based Orionx, another Tether-supported cryptocurrency exchange in Latin America, ceased operations in September after forensic auditors discovered over $7 million of customer funds had been transferred to uncontrolled wallets. This recent breach at Mercado Bitcoin follows another high-profile incident, as Binance, a global cryptocurrency platform, experienced a $6.3 billion theft targeting its hot wallets days earlier. Binance implemented a temporary suspension of deposits and withdrawals and later resumed withdrawals, reporting that it had restored 95% of the stolen assets. |

The FDA cited mouse toxicity findings and insufficient pharmacokinetic and juvenile-toxicity data when it placed Bright Minds' planned Phase 2 BMB-101 epilepsy trial on partial clinical hold. An investigation is underway on behalf of DRUG investors who suffered losses., /PRNewswire/ -- Mouse toxicity findings and insufficient juvenile-toxicity data led the FDA to place Bright Minds Biosciences' (NASDAQ: DRUG) planned Phase 2 BMB-101 epilepsy trial on partial clinical hold, and DRUG shares sold off sharply. If you bought Bright Minds stock and lost money after the hold was announced, you may have legal rights. Investors who suffered losses are encouraged to request a free review of their losses or contact Joseph E. Levi, Esq. at [email protected] or (212) 363-7500. The FDA cited three concerns: toxicity findings in mice, insufficient pharmacokinetic data, and insufficient juvenile-toxicity data to support enrolling pediatric patients. The planned U.S. study was designed to evaluate BMB-101 in epilepsy and developmental and epileptic encephalopathies (DEE), with pediatric enrollment. Bright Minds stated the hold was limited to the planned U.S. study and emphasized that its other ongoing trials were unaffected, but the FDA's action raised broader questions about the safety data supporting BMB-101 and the Company's ability to advance the program as planned. Moreover, despite publicly disagreeing with the FDA's interpretation of the mouse toxicity findings, Bright Minds acknowledged that it had not yet received the agency's full letter and that additional data or studies could be required. As a result, the Company faced potentially significant delays and additional development requirements, leaving the planned study's design, timing, and regulatory pathway uncertain. XRP Sees Three Buying Waves at $1.24 in Two Days: What Comes Next? | CoinGecko News
|
Original source text
XRP has attracted buyers at $1.24 three times in just two days, and this makes the price level an important part of its current market structure. - Advertisement - On each occasion, buyers stepped in as XRP approached the level, absorbed the selling pressure, and pushed the price back up. These repeated reactions suggest that demand is strong around $1.24, as XRP faces pressure from the wider crypto market. Well-known crypto analyst Marzell had identified $1.24 as a key support level before these recent tests. So far, the price action has supported this suggestion, as buyers continue to defend the zone each time XRP returns to it. XRP Buyers Defend $1.24 After Major Market Sell-Off The repeated buying around $1.24 is particularly noteworthy given the events behind XRP’s recent decline. The token dropped 4.2% in 24 hours after hackers drained $6.3 billion worth of multiple assets from Binance on Oct. 29. The breach triggered widespread selling across the entire crypto market and led to fresh concerns about exchange security. - Advertisement - The sell-off affected several major cryptocurrencies. Bitcoin fell to a six-week low of $76,368, while Ethereum dropped more than 3% to a two-month low near $2,178. Both assets eventually found some support as the market began to stabilize. Meanwhile, XRP also came under heavy pressure and briefly slipped below $1.24 during the sharp decline. - Advertisement - The market downturn also forced leveraged traders out of their positions. Long-position liquidations reached $16 million on Friday as falling prices caught traders on the wrong side of the market. However, buyers continued to return whenever XRP approached $1.24. XRP Struggles to Break Above $1.27 While buyers have managed to defend $1.24, XRP has struggled to move above $1.27. Every recovery from support has faced selling pressure around this level, preventing the asset from making a stronger move higher. XRP buyers repeatedly step in at the $1.24 support This has left XRP trading between a price floor that buyers continue to defend and a ceiling that sellers have so far protected. The repeated movement between $1.24 and $1.27 has created a narrow trading range. Traders often refer to this type of price action as a coil because the market continues to move within a tightening range before making a move in either direction. However, there is no clear indication yet whether the eventual breakout will favor buyers or sellers. XRP also faces resistance from three major exponential moving averages (EMAs). The price currently trades below the 20-day ($1.32), 50-day ($1.35), and 100-day ($1.32) EMAs. This adds to the selling pressure that buyers must overcome before XRP can establish a sustained recovery. For this reason, breaking above $1.27 would be an important step toward improving the short-term outlook. However, a brief move above the level would not be enough to confirm a breakout. Buyers would need to push XRP above $1.27, secure a close beyond it, and keep the price above that level. XRP Could Target $1.30 or Drop Toward $1.18 According to Marzell, a confirmed break above $1.27 could send XRP toward $1.30. The analyst said $1.30 is an important expansion area, suggesting that a sustained move above the current resistance could give XRP room to advance further. Developments surrounding the Binance breach could also help improve market sentiment. Binance pledged to cover all losses resulting from the incident and temporarily suspended deposits and withdrawals while carrying out security checks. The exchange has also frozen approximately $3 billion in stolen assets. However, XRP could face another decline if buyers fail to defend $1.24. A breakdown below this support would put $1.20 in focus. This level represents the next liquidity pool, where buy orders are likely concentrated. If XRP also loses $1.20, the decline could extend toward $1.18, which marks the potential flush target. - Advertisement - |

Why Capri Holdings Stock Crushed it Today | FMP Stock News
|
Original source text
Still riding the positive momentum from a satisfying quarterly earnings report, Capri Holdings (CPRI +7.33%) stock cruised to a more than 7% gain on Monday. Also providing plenty of fuel for this was a set of analyst price target increases on the fashion conglomerate's stock.A company in style for the marketCapri's second quarter of fiscal 2027 results were published Friday morning. Although revenue declined by almost 6% year over year to $809 million, the company flipped to a non-GAAP (adjusted) net income of $45 million. On top of that, it obliterated analyst profitability estimates and comfortably beat on the top line. Image source: Getty Images. On Monday, analysts tracking the stock reacted overwhelmingly positively to the consumer discretionary company's performance. Several expressed this by raising their Capri price targets. Among these was Brooke Roach from the ever-influential investment bank Goldman Sachs (GS +0.47%). She lifted hers to $24 from $18, albeit while maintaining her neutral recommendation. A more bullish note was authored by Barclays' (BCS +1.39%) Adrienne Yih, who now feels the stock is worth $24 apiece, up from her preceding $19. She kept her overweight (i.e., buy) recommendation intact. CPRI Capri$20.05+$1.37 (+7.33%) NYSE · As of 4:00 PM ET 11/02/26 A tale of two fashion linesI'm always rather hesitant about fashion stocks, as they're subject to trends, whims, and the health of the economy. That said, Capri's Jimmy Choo line did especially well and looks set to continue doing so, even if the larger Michael Kors unit is currently in turnaround mode. Meanwhile, management is effectively trimming costs behind the scenes. If I were to consider buying any fashion title, I'd certainly add this one to the list. Brinker International (EAT) Price Forecast: Bullish Reversal Targets New Highs | FMP Stock News
|
Original source text
Double-Bottom Breakout Revives Bullish TrendBrinker International, Inc. (EAT), an American multinational hospitality company that owns Chili’s and Maggiano’s Little Italy restaurant chains, triggered a bullish double-bottom reversal signal last week on a rally above the recent lower swing high of $212.23. That breakout suggests the first pullback after a new all-time high of $254.99 was reached in August may have completed. The low of the pullback at $182.28 resulted in a higher swing low for the rising trend structure. It represented a successful test of support near a key prior resistance zone defined by the $192.22 peak in February 2025 and the slightly lower peak in June at $187.12. Since the support test was followed by a decisive advance, the larger bullish trend is showing signs of resuming. The ability to hold this higher swing low is therefore important to maintaining the bullish technical outlook. Momentum Recovery Across Multiple Time Frames In addition to the double bottom reversal signal, strength was confirmed during last week’s advance by a reclaim of the 50-day moving average, with Monday marking the fourth consecutive daily close above that average. In addition, the 20-week moving average was reclaimed after a few weeks of trading below it, and the move was confirmed with a weekly closing price above the 20-week moving average. The recovery of both averages strengthens the bullish case by showing improving momentum across the daily and weekly time frames. Earnings Catalyst Adds to Upside Potential The bullish reversal in EAT followed the release of its fiscal Q1 2027 earnings report last Wednesday, October 28. The following day, several major firms raised or reaffirmed their bullish price targets, ranging from $270 to $300 per share. Technical projections include several levels from $292.64 to $340.94, as shown in the weekly chart. This places the technical projection above the recently established all-time high and provides potential upside objectives if the recovery continues. Consolidation Sets Up Next Support Test Nonetheless, this doesn’t mean that EAT will immediately resume its advance. It hit a high of $231.74 last Wednesday and has been consolidating inside that day’s range of $231.74 to $201.83 for the following three sessions. A decline below $201.83 could expose possible dynamic support near the 20-day moving average at $198.65 and last Tuesday’s high of $198.04. This would be the first test of support at the 20-day moving average since last week’s rally above it. Ideally, buyers would defend that average or the nearby prior high if tested, preserving the improving short-term structure. Ultimately, holding these support levels would help confirm that the pullback has ended and that EAT is positioned to resume its larger bullish trend. |
Original source text
Healthpeak (DOC - Free Report) came out with quarterly funds from operations (FFO) of $0.44 per share, beating the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $0.43 per share. This compares to FFO of $0.46 per share a year ago. These figures are adjusted for non-recurring items. This quarterly report represents an FFO surprise of +2.33%. A quarter ago, it was expected that this health care real estate investment trust would post FFO of $0.44 per share when it actually produced FFO of $0.46, delivering a surprise of +4.55%. Over the last four quarters, the company has surpassed consensus FFO estimates four times. Healthpeak, which belongs to the Zacks REIT and Equity Trust - Other industry, posted revenues of $820.89 million for the quarter ended September 2026, surpassing the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 8.26%. This compares to year-ago revenues of $705.87 million. The company has topped consensus revenue estimates four times over the last four quarters. The sustainability of the stock's immediate price movement based on the recently-released numbers and future FFO expectations will mostly depend on management's commentary on the earnings call. Healthpeak shares have added about 18.4% since the beginning of the year versus the S&P 500's gain of 10.7%. What's Next for Healthpeak? While Healthpeak has outperformed the market so far this year, the question that comes to investors' minds is: what's next for the stock? There are no easy answers to this key question, but one reliable measure that can help investors address this is the company's FFO outlook. Not only does this include current consensus FFO expectations for the coming quarter(s), but also how these expectations have changed lately. Empirical research shows a strong correlation between near-term stock movements and trends in estimate revisions. Investors can track such revisions by themselves or rely on a tried-and-tested rating tool like the Zacks Rank, which has an impressive track record of harnessing the power of estimate revisions. Ahead of this earnings release, the estimate revisions trend for Healthpeak was unfavorable. While the magnitude and direction of estimate revisions could change following the company's just-released earnings report, the current status translates into a Zacks Rank #4 (Sell) for the stock. So, the shares are expected to underperform the market in the near future. You can see the complete list of today's Zacks #1 Rank (Strong Buy) stocks here. It will be interesting to see how estimates for the coming quarters and the current fiscal year change in the days ahead. The current consensus FFO estimate is $0.43 on $739.78 million in revenues for the coming quarter and $1.77 on $3.02 billion in revenues for the current fiscal year. Investors should be mindful of the fact that the outlook for the industry can have a material impact on the performance of the stock as well. TRON overtakes Ethereum in USDT as stablecoin supply hits $92.25B | CoinGecko News
|
Original source text
TRON has overtaken Ethereum in average USDT supply during the third quarter of 2026, as its stablecoin balances and monthly active addresses have reached record quarterly averages.Summary TRON held 49.49% of USDT across 12 tracked chains, averaging $90.75 billion during Q3. Stablecoin transfers totaled $2.18 trillion, while average stablecoin holder addresses reached 76.53 million. Monthly active addresses averaged 17.81 million, although activity eased toward the end of September. Network revenue fell 3.10% from Q2 to $693.21 million as average transaction fees declined. Token Terminal’s Q3 report, published Nov. 2 and shared by TRON DAO, puts the network’s average stablecoin supply at $92.25 billion, up 4.18% from the previous quarter and 14.58% from a year earlier. Across the chains covered by the report, average native stablecoin supply fell 2.41% quarter over quarter to $298.23 billion. TRON’s share reached 30.93%, gaining 1.96 percentage points from Q2 as its own balances grew against that decline. TRON takes the USDT lead from Ethereum Within TRON’s stablecoin total, USDT supply averaged $90.75 billion, compared with Ethereum’s $87.73 billion. The figures give TRON a $3.02 billion lead and put USDT at approximately 98.4% of its average stablecoin supply, calculated from the report’s totals. Ethereum’s average USDT balance fell 7.59% from Q2, while TRON’s grew 4.11%, according to the report. Together, the two networks accounted for 97.33% of native USDT across the 12 chains tracked. The lead changed hands during July. Token Terminal recorded TRON first moving ahead on July 16, briefly falling behind, then remaining ahead from July 23. By Sept. 30, TRON held $92.35 billion in USDT against Ethereum’s $86.69 billion, a quarter-end gap of $5.66 billion. For all native stablecoins combined, TRON ended September with $93.88 billion outstanding. Its average supply has grown for three consecutive quarters, the report states. Stablecoin holders outnumber Ethereum and Solana TRON averaged 76.53 million stablecoin holder addresses during Q3, up 2.25% from Q2 and 11.27% year over year, according to Token Terminal. The report’s chain comparison puts Ethereum at 26.32 million and Solana at 12.11 million. TRON’s count was nearly twice their combined 38.43 million, based on those published figures, and represented 40.45% of the total across 45 tracked chains. Token Terminal defines holders as addresses with a nonzero native stablecoin balance and sums them across stablecoins. The metric counts addresses, rather than establishing how many individual people hold the tokens. Transfers reached $2.18 trillion, up 4.17% from Q2 and 3.70% year over year. The report calculates that quarterly transfer volume equaled 23.67 times average supply, equivalent to the average stablecoin dollar moving once every 3.89 days. In separate Q3 research, Nansen reported $2.2126 trillion in settlement. Its figures featured in earlier settlement coverage; Token Terminal’s $2.18 trillion is the transfer-volume series used here. Record transactions accompany lower fees Network transactions totaled 1.08 billion, up 0.28% from Q2 and 31.19% year over year, Token Terminal reported. Average throughput slipped 0.81% to 135.76 transactions per second because Q3 contained one more day than Q2. Despite the higher quarterly transaction count, revenue fell to $693.21 million, down 3.10% from Q2 and 34.40% from a year earlier. Average transaction fees dropped to $0.64, a quarterly decline of 3.87% and a yearly decline of 50.20%. The report links the yearly fee comparison to Proposal 104, which cut TRON’s Energy price from 210 sun to 100 sun on Aug. 29, 2025. Token Terminal counts transaction fees paid through burned TRX or staking-derived Energy and Bandwidth as network revenue. Previous fee coverage explains the distinction between transfer value, network fees, and payments to TRON DAO. Active addresses rise as US access expands Monthly active addresses averaged 17.81 million, up 8.71% quarter over quarter and 21.86% year over year. Token Terminal measures unique addresses sending at least one transaction over a rolling 30-day period. Activity moderated during the quarter, moving from 20.09 million at June’s close to 15.42 million on Sept. 30. “Transaction growth outpaced the increase in active addresses over the past year,” TRON DAO said in commentary accompanying the report. The report identifies three US access developments during Q3: Anchorage Digital added native TRX staking on July 14, Bitnomial listed TRX futures on July 27, and Canary Capital launched its Staked TRX ETF, trading under TRXS, on Sept. 9. |

With more than 16 billion transactions recorded, TRON continues to demonstrate sustained high-volume use, positioning itself as a leading network for blockchain-based applications. Corporate Treasury ExpansionIn parallel with network growth, Tron Inc. has increased its corporate TRX treasury. The company recently purchased 158,877 TRX at an average price of $0.3147, bringing total holdings to over 721.6 million TRX. Tron Inc. has outlined its intention to further expand its TRX reserves in support of long-term shareholder interests. Repeated acquisitions reflect ongoing confidence from Tron Inc. in the network’s future. However, the growing corporate treasury has not directly translated into immediate price gains for TRX, as broader market conditions continue to play an influential role. TRX Price Outlook: Technical Patterns in FocusAmid these milestones, TRX’s price performance has met with technical challenges. Technical analyst Crypto With Gopal has identified a rising wedge pattern on the TRX chart, with prices currently fluctuating between $0.31 and $0.35. A rising wedge pattern typically signals potential weakening of bullish momentum and can precede a bearish move. The $0.30 level has emerged as a critical support area. According to Crypto With Gopal, bulls must defend this level to maintain TRX’s consolidation. If the price fails to hold above $0.30, the next significant support is noted at $0.15, though this would only come into play with a confirmed breakdown. Crypto With Gopal highlighted that holding the $0.30 support could allow TRX to maintain its consolidation pattern, while losing this area could shift focus toward the $0.15 target in the event of further declines. On the upside, resistance at the $0.36 to $0.37 range remains a key target for potential bullish attempts. The outcome of current price consolidation will largely depend on whether buying interest can absorb current selling pressure. Given the increasing volatility and key technical thresholds in play, traders tracking TRX may benefit from using dedicated monitoring tools. In this context, CryptoAppsy’s real-time charting and smart price alert features enable users to closely watch TRX’s movement near the $0.30 support and $0.36 resistance, helping them to respond promptly as these crucial price levels are tested. Investors are also monitoring Tron Inc.’s next corporate treasury moves and ongoing network performance, as both may influence market sentiment alongside technical factors. |

Can TRON reclaim $0.33 after its $234M hack fueled buying spree? | CoinGecko News
|
Original source text
On Thursday, the 29th of October, TRON [TRX] prices surged from $0.328 to $0.365 in a matter of hours. Attackers who had drained Binance hot wallets for $6.3 billion across ten blockchains rushed to swap their USDT for TRX.Since Tether can freeze its stablecoin, the urgency to swap to TRX, where no central issuer can block transfers, saw a $234 million USDT swap to TRX on SunSwap, at $0.367 per TRX, blockchain data firm Bitquery confirmed. At that time, the TRX market price had been only $0.33, which helped explain the swift price surge. Other intelligence platforms have since reported whale wallets with the stolen funds, turning the artificial buying spree into a supply overhang for the global stablecoin settlement giant. TRX price bounce stopped at key retracement level Since Thursday’s price spike, the Layer 1 blockchain’s native token has witnessed a 13.4% price correction. Incidentally, the market structure on the 1-day timeframe had been bearish. Source: TRX/USDT on TradingView The swing move southward from $0.3775 to $0.3108 in May and early June was the one that dictated the bearish market structure. Using these levels, Fibonacci retracement levels were plotted. The 78.6% Fibonacci retracement level was at $0.363, and the price surge halted just above this level on Thursday. Thereafter, a daily session close below $0.3108 ensued. The OBV was sliding lower, continuing the downtrend of recent weeks, while the MACD also took a sharp nosedive. What next for TRX? Source: TRX/USDT on TradingView The MACD formed a bullish crossover in bearish territory, signaling a price bounce was underway. Based on the size of the impulse move down from $0.365, it is likely that the current bounce could go to $0.333-$0.352. On the way, the $0.33 supply zone was also a place that could see a bearish price reaction. Swing traders and long-term investors need to be mindful of the larger bear trend at play. A price bounce to $0.33 followed by a slide toward $0.30 or even $0.27 is a possibility for TRX in the coming weeks. Final Summary The TRON price surge on Thursday was a result of artificial demand, and it reversed from a key technical resistance level. The altcoin is now in a bearish price structure, though a short-term bounce toward the $0.33 supply zone is possible. |

TRON became an early route for stolen Binance funds, Elliptic finds | CoinGecko News
|
Original source text
TRON served as a major early route for moving assets stolen in the Binance hack, according to a November 2 investigation by Elliptic. The blockchain analytics firm traced funds spreading across roughly 7,700 TRON addresses before much of the activity shifted elsewhere.Elliptic’s summary showed how the attackers moved on some of its assets during and after stablecoin issuers such as Tether froze billions of dollars. Elliptic estimated that about $3.24 billion in digital assets were still sitting at the addresses associated with the theft at around 07:00 UTC on November 2. Thousands of wallets carried the funds onward Binance reported approximately $6.3 billion stolen in the October 29 attack. The FBI subsequently attributed the theft to North Korea’s TraderTraitor group. According to Elliptic’s investigation, the attackers swapped 234 million stolen USDT for TRX on SunSwap before Tether froze the remaining USDT on TRON. A distribution wallet began breaking TRX into smaller chunk transfers on October 30. The funds travelled through thousands of different addresses and crossover bridges/services that exchange assets. In total, $147M was seen leaving the TRON network, almost all of which left and reached the Ethereum network as ETH. A total time of 51 hours was used, and a total of 1,113 transfers occurred from the time the distributing wallet came into service to its last transfer. The last transfer took place on 1 November at 05:33 UTC. What the $242 million estimate covers In another November 1 thread, analyst SomaXBT calculated that about $242 million was laundered in roughly two days using TRON-linked routes. Over two-thirds of the amount was allocated to routes leaving TRON (194M versus 194M). An added $22M was an estimated amount of fees, trading costs, and price change. In both investigations, the money was moved through several services, ending up in newly created wallets, adding another layer of extra steps investigators had to follow. Activity spreads beyond TRON By early November 1, TRON activity had largely stopped, Elliptic said. Movement subsequently picked up on Ethereum, Solana, and other networks. Early on November 2, all 233 million stolen XRP moved to six new addresses. Elliptic also identified about 28 BTC passing through transactions that combine multiple users’ Bitcoin, complicating tracing. Source: Elliptic Only a tiny amount was likely cashed out, according to Elliptic, meaning it is still possible for exchanges and brokers to intercept because investigators will be following the assets. Final Summary Elliptic observed these stolen funds through approximately 7,700 TRON addresses until they appeared to migrate to other networks. On November 2, Elliptic said it found around $3.24 billion in addresses linked to the theft. |

BNB: Millisecond Block Timestamps for Smart Contracts on BSC | CoinGecko News
|
Original source text
TL;DRBEP-706 lets contracts read block timestamps in milliseconds.Existing block.timestamp values remain in seconds.Integrations should check timestamp units and returned data.Reth v0.1.3 changes how testing tools handle time overrides.A smart contract reading block.timestamp sees time in whole seconds. When several BNB Smart Chain (BSC) blocks fall within the same second, that leaves applications unable to read timing detail the chain already records.BEP-706, included in the Jenner hardfork, makes that detail available through a new precompile at address 0x70. Contracts can use it to read the current block’s timestamp in milliseconds, while existing uses of block.timestamp continue to return seconds. Why Milliseconds MatterImagine two blocks timestamped 12:00:00.200 and 12:00:00.800. A contract using block.timestamp sees the same second for both, even though they are 600 milliseconds apart. For a signed quote or an auction with a deadline shorter than a second, those readings lose useful detail. BEP-706 uses request-for-quote settlement as an example. A market maker may sign a quote that is valid for only a few hundred milliseconds. With whole-second time, the settlement contract has to round the cutoff, potentially accepting the quote longer than intended or rejecting it earlier. Millisecond timestamps let applications express those cutoffs more precisely. They can also support auction deadlines and checks on how recently a price feed was updated. Whether that improves pricing or execution depends on the application’s wider design. Figure 1: Whole seconds can hide differences between blocks. The precompile exposes existing millisecond precision. Source: BEP-706. How Contracts Read Millisecond TimestampsBSC block headers already carry millisecond information under BEP-520. The seconds field remains in place, while a separate header component records the remainder within that second. Nodes already validate this information through consensus. The new precompile makes that value available to smart contracts. A contract makes a read-only static call to 0x70 and receives a 32-byte unsigned integer representing milliseconds since the Unix epoch. The precompile takes no arguments and ignores calldata. BEP-706 sets the precompile’s computation charge at 20 gas. The calling contract also pays the applicable call and memory costs, so the total cost of using it is higher. Applications opt into this finer precision when they need it. Contracts calculating deadlines with block.timestamp and durations in seconds continue to use the same units and behavior. Figure 2: The new read path is additive. Existing block.timestamp semantics and units remain unchanged. Source: BEP-706. What Developers Need to CheckThe returned value is the executing block’s timestamp. Every transaction in that block reads the same value. It does not record when a transaction reached the network or the exact moment an individual transaction executed. The timing trust model also remains the same as block.timestamp: validators supply timestamps within consensus constraints. Finer precision preserves the timing assumptions applications already rely on. Keep Timestamp Units ConsistentUse explicit units across contracts, signatures, and backends. A deadline signed in milliseconds must be compared with a timestamp in milliseconds. Mixing seconds and milliseconds can silently make an expiry far too short or far too long. Figure 3: A hypothetical quote expires within one second. Applications compare the deadline with block time using matching units. Source: BEP-706. Check the Returned DataIntegrations should check both that the call succeeds and that it returns the expected 32 bytes. Before activation, the address behaves as an empty account. A low-level call can therefore succeed without returning a timestamp. A successful call alone does not establish that the feature is available. RPC Changes for Simulation TestingThe reth-bsc v0.1.3 release notes describe a related change for tools that override block values during simulation. In eth_call, eth_estimateGas, debug_traceCall, and eth_simulateV1, a supplied blockOverrides.prevRandao must encode a millisecond remainder from 0 to 999 as a 32-byte hexadecimal value. The time override remains in seconds. Overriding time alone resets the millisecond remainder to zero. These checks apply immediately after upgrading to v0.1.3, including before Jenner activation. Teams using block overrides should update their test inputs alongside the client. Figure 4: Simulation overrides combine seconds with a millisecond remainder. These v0.1.3 input checks apply before fork activation too. Source: release notes. Further ReadingBEP-706 Millisecond Timestamp PrecompileJenner upgrade specificationreth-bsc v0.1.3 release notes |

Ondo Finance Launches MAG7X Token Combining Big Tech Stocks With BlackRock Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs | CoinGecko News
|
Original source text
Ondo Finance has launched MAG7X, a single token tracking seven major tech stocks plus BlackRock's IBIT and ETHA ETFs, tradable 24/7 on Ethereum, BNB Chain and Solana.@OndoFinance has launched MAG7X, an index token that bundles the seven largest US technology companies with two of @BlackRock's crypto exchange-traded funds: the iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) and the iShares Ethereum Trust (ETHA). The product gives holders exposure to $BTC and $ETH funds alongside Big Tech equities through one onchain asset. How the MAG7X Token WorksThe token can be created, redeemed and traded around the clock on networks including @Ethereum, @BNBChain and @Solana, so it is not tied to stock exchange opening hours. It is built on the Ondo Stocks infrastructure and can be accessed through self-custody wallets and decentralized platforms such as 1inch and MetaMask. MAG7X sits within Ondo Intelligent Portfolios. Ondo expanded that lineup from three to seven products on Oct. 1, adding strategies focused on the Magnificent 7, artificial intelligence and targeted income. The Magnificent 7 and crypto product, listed as MAG7Xon, combines exposure to the Magnificent 7 technology companies with crypto assets. Each portfolio token represents exposure to a weighted basket of assets with onchain visibility into holdings, weights and rebalances, and investors can mint, redeem or transfer the single token without managing individual positions. The portfolios have been rolling out across chains. The Solana launch extends a product line previously introduced on Ethereum and BNB Chain. Ondo already has more than $500 million in total value locked across tokenized assets on Solana, according to its release. That figure covers Ondo's broader tokenized asset presence, not the new portfolio lineup alone. Ondo's Tokenized Stocks BusinessThe underlying assets come from Ondo's tokenized equities platform. Ondo Stocks, formerly Ondo Global Markets, tokenizes US stocks, ETFs and other assets, issued on blockchain networks and backed 1:1 by the underlying asset. The tokens give holders economic exposure to the underlying asset's price rather than legal ownership. Ondo said in May that the platform had passed $1 billion in total value locked, a first for a tokenized stocks platform. Access is restricted in some markets. Ondo's platform is aimed at eligible non-US investors, and US persons are restricted by securities rules. Investors should check eligibility in their jurisdiction before buying. The launch reflects a wider push to package traditional and crypto assets in a single tradable token. Brazilian crypto platform Mercado Bitcoin has confirmed the detection and containment of an issue in one of its systems. As a precaution, the exchange has temporarily suspended deposits and withdrawals, assuring clients of the safety of their assets and the absence of a data leak. The incident occurred shortly after the platform passed a local licensing deadline. According to independent blockchain company Hypernative, suspicious outflows from wallets linked to the exchange exceeded $40 million (approximately 217 million reais). Analysts recorded the movement of assets on the Ethereum, Bitcoin, Solana, Tron and Stellar (XLM) networks. HOT Stories Mercado Bitcoin discloses hacker addresses to track stolen assets, Source: Mercado Bitcoin via X.com You Might Also Like In total, the activity spanned at least 10 blockchains, also including Polygon, Arbitrum, Avalanche and BNB Smart Chain. The first suspicious transfers were recorded at around 02:15 UTC and involved Bitcoin deposit addresses attributed to the exchange. Among the flagged assets were 106 BTC and 2,852 ETH. The hackers carried out direct token transfers, which indicates a compromise of operational reserves rather than segregated client assets. Focus on Stellar and the exchange's countermeasuresAmong the withdrawn assets, blockchain analysts recorded a large volume of Stellar tokens: about 6.7 million XLM were consolidated at addresses linked to the suspicious transactions. As part of the investigation and coordination of efforts with the authorities, Mercado Bitcoin published a specific Stellar destination address to help the community and security firms track the movement of assets in real time. The move is aimed at monitoring the movement of tokens and preventing their laundering through third-party services. You Might Also Like At the moment, the exchange is conducting an investigation, tracking the assets and promising to provide regular updates. The exchange has not yet confirmed the amount involved, disclosed which system was compromised or given a date for resuming deposits and withdrawals. Until the platform fully resumes normal operations and the security of its infrastructure is confirmed, users are advised to refrain from making new deposits. |

WalletConnect Adds Stellar Payments as Bermuda Ticketing Rollout Targets 2027 | CoinGecko News
|
Original source text
TL;DRWalletConnect announced expanded Stellar support on October 29. LOBSTR is described as the first live wallet for Stellar payments. The PTIX merchant rollout is expected in Q2 2027. WalletConnect is expanding payment access on Stellar while preparing a separate merchant rollout in Bermuda. Its October 29 announcement says WalletConnect Pay supports the network, with LOBSTR as the first live Stellar wallet. The Bermuda initiative, developed with Penrose Partners, begins with ticketing platform Premier Tickets, or PTIX. That integration is expected in the second quarter of 2027, so wallet support available now should be distinguished from the planned merchant launch. Connecting a wallet is only the first step A payment interface needs to identify both the customer’s wallet and the transaction the merchant expects. Those tasks sound simple until an order expires, a customer changes devices or a transfer arrives after the checkout page has been closed. For ticketing, the sequence is particularly important. The buyer wants confirmation that a seat has been secured; the organizer needs confidence that payment belongs to the correct order. A blockchain transaction hash does not, by itself, contain every detail of that commercial relationship. A useful integration must connect payment status to inventory and customer support. Otherwise, a fast transfer can still create a slow service experience when the ticketing system cannot confidently match the money to the purchase. Direct settlement changes the platform’s role The proposed PTIX arrangement sends customer funds to the event organizer’s wallet without the ticketing platform holding them. That design changes where money sits between the moment a customer pays and the moment the organizer can use it. It can reduce the need for the platform to collect and subsequently distribute balances. It also requires careful handling of refunds, disputed orders and changes to an event. Those obligations do not disappear because the transfer takes a more direct route. A cancelled concert offers a straightforward example. Returning a payment requires identifying the right recipient, confirming the amount and deciding which party is responsible for making the transfer. A well-designed service should make that process comprehensible to a customer who has no interest in the underlying network. Merchant adoption needs familiar accounting For an organizer, receiving a digital asset is useful only if it fits the business’s finances. The organizer needs to know how much usable value it has received, what costs apply and how the balance will pay suppliers or other expenses. Some businesses may want to retain a token; others may prefer conversion into bank money. Those choices affect reconciliation and liquidity planning. The availability of a wallet connection does not establish that every merchant will make the same decision. Payment records also need to remain useful after the event. A business must be able to connect sales, refunds and settlement to its own accounts. The more the system can handle these ordinary tasks predictably, the less specialist knowledge a merchant needs to accept the payment method. The rollout provides a concrete adoption test The announced timeline gives observers a clear milestone: a functioning ticket purchase from a supported wallet, with a merchant receiving the expected funds and a buyer receiving the correct ticket. That is a more useful measure than the theoretical reach of a wallet network. After launch, repeat use and the rate of failed or abandoned payments would help assess whether the option solves a real customer problem. Lower processing costs would matter if they survive the full journey, including conversion and support. WalletConnect’s Stellar expansion opens a technical route, while the Bermuda project attempts to give that route a regular commercial purpose. The two developments fit together, but their different launch stages need to remain clear as the integration progresses. Written by the News Desk and edited by Samuel Rae. |

USDC Treasury burns 100 million USDC on Solana | CoinGecko News
|
Original source text
Circle's treasury removed roughly $100.15 million in stablecoins from circulation in another routine supply adjustmentThe USDC Treasury burned 100 million USDC on November 2, 2026, according to blockchain tracker Whale Alert. The tokens were worth approximately $100.15 million at the time. The burn took place on the Solana blockchain. Whale Alert flagged it as it happened. What actually happened Circle, the company behind USDC, destroyed 100 million tokens held in its treasury. Burning a token removes it from circulation for good. The reported value of the burn was approximately $100.151 million. The slight premium over a flat $100 million reflects where USDC was trading at the moment of the burn, not any change in how the token works. No unusual market disruptions were reported around the transaction. Burns like this one are part of how Circle manages USDC’s supply. The goal is to make sure the number of tokens in circulation never exceeds the reserves backing them. USDC is designed to be backed 1:1 by the US dollar. Every token out in the wild should have a matching dollar sitting behind it. A familiar pattern This was not Circle’s first large burn of the year, and it was not its biggest. Whale Alert data cited in the research shows a 107 million USDC burn in August 2026. The same research also points to even larger burns of 134.6 million and 151 million USDC in recent months. These supply adjustments happen across multiple blockchains, including Solana and Ethereum. They track user demand and liquidity needs on each network. When demand for USDC shifts on a given chain, the supply on that chain shifts with it. Minting adds tokens when demand rises. Burning removes them when it falls or when liquidity needs to be rebalanced. Why Solana matters here USDC is not tied to a single blockchain. It lives on several networks at once, and Circle manages supply on each of them separately. That means a burn on Solana tells you something about USDC activity on Solana specifically. It does not necessarily say anything about the stablecoin’s total footprint across every chain. Background on USDC supply management Traders use stablecoins as a parking spot during volatility. They also serve as a liquidity layer for cross-chain transactions and trading across platforms. Regular burns are one of the most visible parts of that process. Every one of them shows up on a public blockchain, where trackers like Whale Alert can surface it in real time. What this means for the market On its own, a 100 million USDC burn is unlikely to move markets. Nothing in the reporting suggests it did. According to the research findings, supply management practices like these could attract institutional interest. The logic is simple: a stablecoin that visibly maintains its backing is an easier sell to a compliance department. There is a caveat worth keeping in mind. A burn shows that supply went down on a particular chain at a particular time. It does not, by itself, explain why demand shifted or where that liquidity went next. For now, the 100 million USDC removed on Solana fits neatly into a pattern that includes 107 million, 134.6 million, and 151 million USDC burns earlier in the year. The hacker currently holds the funds across 46 addresses, including 3,680 ETH, 106 BTC, and $8 million in stablecoins. 3 hours ago Bloomberg: After the $6.3 billion crypto theft, Binance offers higher rebates to select market makers to maintain liquidity. According to Bloomberg, after Binance suffered a record $630 million hack, the crypto exchange has increased incentives for some market makers trading on its platform to boost trading activity. People familiar with the matter said that shortly after last week’s security breach, the firm reached out to smaller trading firms, offering higher rebates in spot and futures markets. Per its website, Binance categorizes market makers into different tiers based on the liquidity they provide. Firms contributing a larger share of trading volume qualify for higher tiers, which typically come with larger rebates to lower their transaction costs. Under the one-week promotion, Tiers 2 and 3 market makers will receive the same rebate rates as Tier 4 participants, the platform’s highest tier, the sources added. The changes are designed to give smaller liquidity providers stronger financial incentives to quote on the exchange and maintain deeper order books, the sources noted. A Binance spokesperson said the exchange’s latest post-breach moves help calm the market, adding: “As we prioritize clear communication, we took immediate steps to preserve our core strength: liquidity.” Market makers play a critical role by continuously providing bid and ask quotes; the liquidity they supply allows other investors to trade without triggering sharp price swings. According to Talos, within 24 hours of the hack, Bitcoin order book depth on Binance dropped roughly 30%, with depth within a 1% price range falling from $45 million to $32 million. Market depth measures how much trading volume can be absorbed without causing significant price volatility. 3 hours ago |

Securitize Expands Tokenized Stocks to 25 Equities | CoinGecko News
|
Original source text
On November 2, 2026, Securitize expanded its stock offering to 25 equities, adding 13 U.S. companies for eligible investors in the United States, European Union and other permitted jurisdictions. The securities trade on Solana and settle in $USDC, with liquidity infrastructure supported by Jump Trading. The additions follow the October 8 launch of Securitize Stocks, which introduced 12 equities. The expansion adds Arista Networks, Flex, Exxon Mobil, GameStop, Johnson & Johnson, Lockheed Martin, Lumentum, Merck, Salesforce, Seagate Technology, Texas Instruments, Walt Disney and Uber Technologies. The new names join the original offering identified in the announcement by the tickers $AAPL, $MSFT, $NVDA, $GOOG, $TSLA, $META, $AMZN, $NFLX, $CRCL, $SPCX, $MSTR and $PLTR. Access remains subject to investor eligibility. Securitize’s trading documentation requires account approval and a whitelisted wallet before an investor can trade. What the token holder owns Securitize describes each token as a security entitlement under UCC Article 8, backed by an underlying share. Applicable economic benefits include dividends and voting rights where the underlying share class carries them. The product page says the backing share is held in a segregated account and that the shares backing the tokens are never lent out. Dividends reach investors net of applicable withholding. The legal holding arrangement depends on jurisdiction: U.S. customers hold security entitlements through Securitize Markets, while EU customers hold their interests through Securitize Europe Brokerage and Markets under its client terms and applicable EU and Spanish law. Token holders become registered shareholders of the underlying issuer only if they convert. Securitize calls the instrument a convertible entitlement token. Conversion into shares on a company’s register depends on that company adopting issuer-sponsored tokenization, with Securitize’s transfer-agent partnerships providing the route. The companies behind the newly available stocks have not sponsored, endorsed or issued the tokens. The offering creates no new shares. Secondary trading runs through Securitize Markets, an SEC-registered broker-dealer and FINRA/SIPC member. Securitize says this activity operates under existing securities laws without needing the SEC’s Innovation Exemption. Approved wallets and protected market orders The trading FAQ specifies third-party self-custody wallets. Investors must create a Securitize account, complete identity verification and connect a wallet after approval. Securitize then whitelists the address. Securities can move only between whitelisted wallets on the platform. Transfers remain subject to approval even when investors hold the assets in their own Solana wallets. Orders enter as market orders, with execution at the best available market price subject to price protection. The confirmation screen shows a reference based on the National Best Bid and Offer, not a guaranteed execution price. The fixed protection band is 0.10%, and users cannot change it. The platform automatically rejects an order if the execution price moves beyond the protected level: higher for a purchase or lower for a sale. An investor can enter a rejected order again. Submission does not guarantee execution at the displayed reference: the order can still be rejected after the investor submits it. The platform charges .10% of the trade amount in $USDC, according to the FAQ. That fee covers the gas charges associated with execution. Share prices are also expressed as a $USDC exchange rate per share; the documentation notes that the stablecoin’s exchange rate against the dollar can vary. Quotes refresh every 30 seconds on the order screen and every 8 seconds in the confirmation window. When the stock price changes during order generation, the share quantity changes while the total $USDC spend remains fixed. An investor committing a fixed amount can receive a different number of shares as the price changes during confirmation. Creating an order also requires wallet authentication. The FAQ instructs users to sign in through their wallet provider, specify the $USDC amount and review the reference price, estimated share quantity and total spend. After accepting the conditions, the investor receives a single wallet-provider request to approve the transaction, which must be confirmed before proceeding. After submission, the platform says it notifies the user whether the transaction succeeded or the order was rejected. Successful execution prices and times are available through Securitize, on the blockchain and in an email confirmation sent at execution. Investors can use those records to compare the completed trade with the reference they saw before approving it. Trading hours need clarification Securitize’s public documents give different descriptions of current availability. The investment product page advertises 24/5 trading, with 24/7 coming soon. The trading FAQ states: “Trading is available on our site from 4:00 AM to 5:30 PM ET.” The November 2 release says trading is initially available beyond traditional market hours and describes continuous availability as a plan. The product page also says trading hours, supported stocks and conversion features are subject to change. Investors cannot establish a consistent current schedule from these pages alone. The disclosures on the Exxon Mobil asset page warn that extended-hours sessions can bring lower liquidity, wider bid/ask spreads, greater volatility and less market visibility. The settlement asset carries separate limitations. Securitize’s product disclosure says $USDC is neither legal tender nor a bank deposit and is not protected by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation or the Securities Investor Protection Corporation. The broker’s stated memberships should not be read as insurance for the stablecoin used to fund a stock purchase. Securitize reserves the right to withdraw listings from venues as needed or required, according to the release’s disclosures. The announcement also names future trading venues, but its disclosures say the NYSE and OKXICE venues have not launched. Trading there remains subject to regulatory approval and venue review and may not occur; the release gives no firm start date for either venue. |

Suspected $106M Crypto Theft Ran Through Familiar Wallets | CoinGecko News
|
Original source text
ShareCrime 2 November 2026 | 18:50 Most of the $108.8 million that left one EU entity's exchange accounts on November 1–2 went to wallets those exchanges had paid before, according to an on-chain trace. Key Takeaways $108.8M in USDC left three exchange accounts. 11 of 15 receiving wallets had prior payouts. $62.98M in stablecoins became 27,553 ETH. Only $3.7M remained in freezable USDC. The figures come from Bitquery’s November 2 investigation, which followed the money after on-chain investigator ZachXBT flagged the suspected theft from an EU entity, as relayed in a post by the X account Officer’s Notes. Twenty-One Hours Across Three Exchanges The first withdrawal left OKX at 12:25 UTC on November 1. Kraken followed 44 minutes later and ended up paying 95% of the total, with Crypto.com supplying the rest alongside OKX. About two-thirds of the money, $73.2 million, went out in the three hours to 23:00 UTC. The final payment landed at 09:09 UTC the next morning. One wallet received 43 Kraken withdrawals in 91 minutes, each below $50,000. Bitquery reads that as the thief working around a limit on individual withdrawals. If so, the cap changed the shape of the outflow, not its size. $106M+ The first public estimate, attributed to ZachXBT $108.8M USDC Bitquery counted from the exchanges’ main wallets to 15 addresses $95.7M The count without two wallets linked to the thief only through intermediaries None of those is a loss the victim has confirmed. Bitquery read Ethereum only and checked the three exchanges’ main wallets, so other chains and other wallets at the same exchanges could add to the count. The victim is unnamed. The wallets’ history points to a trading or payments business that has used Kraken since May, a view Bitquery says it holds loosely. Why the Old Wallets Point Past the Exchange Login Eleven of the 15 receiving wallets had taken payouts from the same exchanges before November 1, and together they received 84% of the money. The oldest took its first Kraken withdrawal on May 4 and 48 more before the theft. Several of the wallets paid one another over the summer. Eight of the 15 are Trust Wallet smart accounts set up to pay network fees in USDC, though Bitquery found nothing pointing to a flaw in the app itself. That history is why Bitquery treats the wallets as the victim’s own, and it explains why the exchange login alone does not account for what happened next. The USDC typically moved on to a fresh wallet within three minutes, and sending it onward required the keys to the receiving wallet. Bitquery concludes the thief most likely held both the logins and those keys. In its reading, that points to a break-in on the owner’s devices or wallet setup, or to someone inside the victim’s own team. The chain cannot tell those apart. The ownership call is still an inference from wallet behaviour, and neither the victim nor the exchanges have confirmed it. If some of those addresses belonged to an employee, contractor or counterparty, earlier payouts would show that the entity trusted a person, not that its own keys leaked. Either way, nothing in the trace shows a breach of Kraken, Crypto.com or OKX. The withdrawals came from one customer’s accounts. Where an Allowlist Holds and Where It Gives Way An allowlist lets an account withdraw only to addresses approved in advance. The trace splits this theft into two cases, and they test that setting differently. The 11 familiar wallets are the case an allowlist cannot address. If they were already approved, transfers to them would pass the check, because the setting restricts the address and says nothing about who holds its keys today. The four new wallets, which took $17.27 million, are the opposite case. The first payments from both OKX and Kraken went to addresses with no prior history. As Bitquery puts it, if the accounts used an allowlist, the thief was able to add to it, and if they had none, the money could go anywhere. Whether any of these accounts had one switched on is not public. That second route is what the exchanges’ additional controls are built for: OKX Alongside the allowlist, a separate new-address lock blocks withdrawals to a newly added recipient for 24 hours. Crypto.com Exchange A 24-hour hold applies to newly whitelisted addresses, and switching the feature off takes another 24 hours to take effect. Kraken The Global Settings Lock blocks new withdrawal addresses and changes to protected settings. Lifting it means waiting out a delay the user chose, unless they set up a Master Key beforehand, a separate credential that can override the wait. None of these touches a wallet that is already on the list. A lock that slows new addresses still lets anyone with the right keys use an old one. Swapped Out of Freezable USDC Within Hours The withdrawals left as USDC, which its issuer, Circle, can freeze at any address. ETH has no issuer, and DAI has no freeze function, so converting was the thief’s first job. Shortly before midnight UTC on November 1, a fresh wallet began selling stablecoins through UniswapX, an auction in which trading firms compete to fill orders. In about four hours it sold $62.98 million in USDC and USDT for 27,553 ETH, roughly $2,286 per coin. Another branch of the funds went into DAI. Bitquery saw no Circle freeze during the sale or at its check on Monday, and says it does not know whether anyone asked Circle to act. At 13:47 UTC on November 2, $78.27 million still sat on Ethereum in addresses Bitquery ties to the thief, most of it beyond any issuer’s reach: What the remaining funds were held in ETH · $68.9MNo issuer to freeze it DAI · $5.6MNo freeze function USDC · $3.7MCircle can freeze it About $30.5 million had already left. The largest exit, $8.12 million, went to a KuCoin deposit address that Bitquery believes is the pooled account of Kyrrex, a European exchange. LI.FI, a bridge and swap router, took $4.34 million, part of it through one-time order wallets that analytics firm TRM tags as Wagyu, a service that swaps into Monero. FixedFloat, an instant exchange that requires no account, took $1.32 million. Seeing the ETH on Ethereum gives the victim no way to move it back. What can still be reached depends on parties with power over their slice: Circle over the remaining USDC, KuCoin and Kyrrex over whose account the deposit credited, and the instant exchanges over who placed the orders. What Would Settle the Access Question Kraken, which paid 178 of the withdrawals, can confirm who owns the account and what happened inside it. Three records would test Bitquery’s theory: when the four new addresses were added and whether a lock or delay applied at the time; whether the withdrawals came through a logged-in session or through API keys with withdrawal rights; and whether any security setting changed in the hours before 12:25 UTC on November 1. If those logs show the new addresses went through because a waiting period was switched off, the lesson moves toward account settings. If the settings were intact and the money still moved through old wallets, the wallet-key reading gets stronger. The nearest public signal is narrower: whether Circle freezes the 3.74 million USDC still held, nearly all of it in five wallets, before the thief moves it. Check Who Can Spend From Every Saved Address For anyone holding large exchange balances, the trace argues for auditing a withdrawal list by keyholder rather than by address. For each saved destination, the question is which phone, laptop, browser extension or service can sign for it today, and whether that same device also holds the exchange login. Bitquery’s point is that one break-in on such a device opens both. The defences it suggests follow from that: a hardware key for logging in and for the wallets on the allowlist, the new-address waiting period switched on, and the same watch on allowlisted wallets as on the account itself. A payment landing in a wallet you stopped using is a warning sign. Coindoo found a similar gap when old wallets were drained after traders stopped using a bot: an address you no longer think about can still have someone able to spend from it. It started in 2016 with Bitcoin. Like most people at the time, he didn't fully understand it - so he kept digging. Blockchain, tokenomics, the projects, the cycles. That curiosity never stopped, and eventually pulled him into traditional markets too: equities, commodities, macro. Not because he left crypto behind, but because you can't properly understand one without the other. What drives him is straightforward: he wants to know why something is happening, not just that it's happening. Most market coverage stops at the headline - price up, price down, here's a chart. Alex finds that kind of reporting actively unhelpful. If you walk away from an article without understanding the mechanism behind the move, what did you actually learn? He holds a degree in Tourism from New Bulgarian University - not the most obvious path into financial markets, but markets have a way of pulling in people who are simply too curious to stay out. He has authored over 200 in-depth analyses and more than 10,000 articles across crypto and traditional finance. He still thinks every day in markets teaches him something new. That's probably why he hasn't stopped. |
