Here's Why Maximus (MMS) is a Strong Growth Stock
MMS Maximus
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Taking full advantage of the stock market and investing with confidence are common goals for new and old investors, and Zacks Premium offers many different ways to do both.

The popular research service can help you become a smarter, more self-assured investor, giving you access to daily updates of the Zacks Rank and Zacks Industry Rank, the Zacks #1 Rank List, Equity Research reports, and Premium stock screens.

Zacks Premium includes access to the Zacks Style Scores as well.

What are the Zacks Style Scores? The Zacks Style Scores is a unique set of guidelines that rates stocks based on three popular investing types, and were developed as complementary indicators for the Zacks Rank. This combination helps investors choose securities with the highest chances of beating the market over the next 30 days.

Based on their value, growth, and momentum characteristics, each stock is assigned a rating of A, B, C, D, or F. The better the score, the better chance the stock will outperform; an A is better than a B, a B is better than a C, and so on.

The Style Scores are broken down into four categories:

Value ScoreValue investors love finding good stocks at good prices, especially before the broader market catches on to a stock's true value. Utilizing ratios like P/E, PEG, Price/Sales, Price/Cash Flow, and many other multiples, the Value Style Score identifies the most attractive and most discounted stocks.

Growth ScoreGrowth investors, on the other hand, are more concerned with a company's financial strength and health, and its future outlook. The Growth Style Score examines things like projected and historic earnings, sales, and cash flow to find stocks that will experience sustainable growth over time.

Momentum ScoreMomentum investors, who live by the saying "the trend is your friend," are most interested in taking advantage of upward or downward trends in a stock's price or earnings outlook. Utilizing one-week price change and the monthly percentage change in earnings estimates, among other factors, the Momentum Style Score can help determine favorable times to buy high-momentum stocks.

VGM ScoreIf you want a combination of all three Style Scores, then the VGM Score will be your friend. It rates each stock on their combined weighted styles, helping you find the companies with the most attractive value, best growth forecast, and most promising momentum. It's also one of the best indicators to use with the Zacks Rank.

How Style Scores Work with the Zacks Rank The Zacks Rank is a proprietary stock-rating model that harnesses the power of earnings estimate revisions, or changes to a company's earnings expectations, to help investors build a successful portfolio.

Investors can count on the Zacks Rank's success, with #1 (Strong Buy) stocks producing an unmatched +23.94% average annual return since 1988, more than double the S&P 500's performance. But the model rates a large number of stocks, and there are over 200 companies with a Strong Buy rank, plus another 600 with a #2 (Buy) rank, on any given day.

But it can feel overwhelming to pick the right stocks for you and your investing goals with over 800 top-rated stocks to choose from.

That's where the Style Scores come in.

To have the best chance of big returns, you'll want to always consider stocks with a Zacks Rank #1 or #2 that also have Style Scores of A or B, which will give you the highest probability of success. If you're looking at stocks with a #3 (Hold) rank, it's important they have Scores of A or B as well to ensure as much upside potential as possible.

As mentioned above, the Scores are designed to work with the Zacks Rank, so any change to a company's earnings outlook should be a deciding factor when picking which stocks to buy.

Here's an example: a stock with a #4 (Sell) or #5 (Strong Sell) rating, even one with Style Scores of A and B, still has a downward-trending earnings outlook, and a bigger chance its share price will decrease too.

Thus, the more stocks you own with a #1 or #2 Rank and Scores of A or B, the better.

Stock to Watch: Maximus (MMS - Free Report) Headquartered in Reston, VA, Maximus operates government health and human services programs globally. With more than 37,200 employees across the globe, Maximus has a presence in the United States, Australia, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Singapore and the United Kingdom.

MMS is a #2 (Buy) on the Zacks Rank, with a VGM Score of A.

Additionally, the company could be a top pick for growth investors. MMS has a Growth Style Score of B, forecasting year-over-year earnings growth of 14.5% for the current fiscal year.

One analyst revised their earnings estimate higher in the last 60 days for fiscal 2026, while the Zacks Consensus Estimate has increased $0.03 to $8.43 per share. MMS also boasts an average earnings surprise of +15%.

With a solid Zacks Rank and top-tier Growth and VGM Style Scores, MMS should be on investors' short list.

Do Options Traders Know Something About ABM Industries Stock We Don't?
ABM ABM Industriesorporated
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Investors in ABM Industries Incorporated (ABM - Free Report) need to pay close attention to the stock based on moves in the options market lately. That is because the Oct. 16, 2026 $60.00 Call had some of the highest implied volatility of all equity options today.

What is Implied Volatility?Implied volatility shows how much movement the market is expecting in the future. Options with high levels of implied volatility suggest that investors in the underlying stocks are expecting a big move in one direction or the other. It could also mean there is an event coming up soon that may cause a big rally or a huge sell-off. However, implied volatility is only one piece of the puzzle when putting together an options trading strategy.

What do the Analysts Think?Clearly, options traders are pricing in a big move for ABM Industries shares, but what is the fundamental picture for the company? Currently, ABM Industries is a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold) in the Business - Services industry that ranks in the Bottom 19% of our Zacks Industry Rank. Over the last 60 days, three analysts have increased their earnings estimates for the current quarter, while none have dropped their estimates. The net effect has taken our Zacks Consensus Estimate for the current quarter from 98 cents per share to $1.01 in that period.

Given the way analysts feel about ABM Industries right now, this huge implied volatility could mean there’s a trade developing. Oftentimes, options traders look for options with high levels of implied volatility to sell premium. This is a strategy many seasoned traders use because it captures decay. At expiration, the hope for these traders is that the underlying stock does not move as much as originally expected.

LPL Financial Holdings Inc. (LPLA) Reports Next Week: Wall Street Expects Earnings Growth
LPLA LPL Financial Holdings
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Wall Street expects a year-over-year increase in earnings on higher revenues when LPL Financial Holdings Inc. (LPLA - Free Report) reports results for the quarter ended June 2026. While this widely-known consensus outlook is important in gauging the company's earnings picture, a powerful factor that could impact its near-term stock price is how the actual results compare to these estimates.

The earnings report, which is expected to be released on July 30, might help the stock move higher if these key numbers are better than expectations. On the other hand, if they miss, the stock may move lower.

While management's discussion of business conditions on the earnings call will mostly determine the sustainability of the immediate price change and future earnings expectations, it's worth having a handicapping insight into the odds of a positive EPS surprise.

Zacks Consensus EstimateThis company is expected to post quarterly earnings of $5.39 per share in its upcoming report, which represents a year-over-year change of +19.5%.

Revenues are expected to be $5.03 billion, up 34.1% from the year-ago quarter.

Estimate Revisions TrendThe consensus EPS estimate for the quarter has been revised 1.63% higher over the last 30 days to the current level. This is essentially a reflection of how the covering analysts have collectively reassessed their initial estimates over this period.

Investors should keep in mind that the direction of estimate revisions by each of the covering analysts may not always get reflected in the aggregate change.

Price, Consensus and EPS Surprise

Earnings WhisperEstimate revisions ahead of a company's earnings release offer clues to the business conditions for the period whose results are coming out. This insight is at the core of our proprietary surprise prediction model -- the Zacks Earnings ESP (Expected Surprise Prediction).

The Zacks Earnings ESP compares the Most Accurate Estimate to the Zacks Consensus Estimate for the quarter; the Most Accurate Estimate is a more recent version of the Zacks Consensus EPS estimate. The idea here is that analysts revising their estimates right before an earnings release have the latest information, which could potentially be more accurate than what they and others contributing to the consensus had predicted earlier.

Thus, a positive or negative Earnings ESP reading theoretically indicates the likely deviation of the actual earnings from the consensus estimate. However, the model's predictive power is significant for positive ESP readings only.

A positive Earnings ESP is a strong predictor of an earnings beat, particularly when combined with a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy), 2 (Buy) or 3 (Hold). Our research shows that stocks with this combination produce a positive surprise nearly 70% of the time, and a solid Zacks Rank actually increases the predictive power of Earnings ESP.

Please note that a negative Earnings ESP reading is not indicative of an earnings miss. Our research shows that it is difficult to predict an earnings beat with any degree of confidence for stocks with negative Earnings ESP readings and/or Zacks Rank of 4 (Sell) or 5 (Strong Sell).

How Have the Numbers Shaped Up for LPL Financial? For LPL Financial, the Most Accurate Estimate is lower than the Zacks Consensus Estimate, suggesting that analysts have recently become bearish on the company's earnings prospects. This has resulted in an Earnings ESP of -0.27%.

On the other hand, the stock currently carries a Zacks Rank of #3.

So, this combination makes it difficult to conclusively predict that LPL Financial will beat the consensus EPS estimate.

Does Earnings Surprise History Hold Any Clue? While calculating estimates for a company's future earnings, analysts often consider to what extent it has been able to match past consensus estimates. So, it's worth taking a look at the surprise history for gauging its influence on the upcoming number.

For the last reported quarter, it was expected that LPL Financial would post earnings of $5.49 per share when it actually produced earnings of $5.60, delivering a surprise of +2.00%.

Over the last four quarters, the company has beaten consensus EPS estimates four times.

Bottom LineAn earnings beat or miss may not be the sole basis for a stock moving higher or lower. Many stocks end up losing ground despite an earnings beat due to other factors that disappoint investors. Similarly, unforeseen catalysts help a number of stocks gain despite an earnings miss.

That said, betting on stocks that are expected to beat earnings expectations does increase the odds of success. This is why it's worth checking a company's Earnings ESP and Zacks Rank ahead of its quarterly release. Make sure to utilize our Earnings ESP Filter to uncover the best stocks to buy or sell before they've reported.

LPL Financial doesn't appear a compelling earnings-beat candidate. However, investors should pay attention to other factors too for betting on this stock or staying away from it ahead of its earnings release.

Expected Results of an Industry PlayerEvercore (EVR - Free Report) , another stock in the Zacks Financial - Investment Bank industry, is expected to report earnings per share of $3.02 for the quarter ended June 2026. This estimate points to a year-over-year change of +24.8%. Revenues for the quarter are expected to be $993.52 million, up 18.4% from the year-ago quarter.

Over the last 30 days, the consensus EPS estimate for Evercore has remained unchanged. Nevertheless, the company now has an Earnings ESP of 0.00%, reflecting an equal Most Accurate Estimate.

When combined with a Zacks Rank of #3 (Hold), this Earnings ESP makes it difficult to conclusively predict that Evercore will beat the consensus EPS estimate. The company beat consensus EPS estimates in each of the trailing four quarters.

Badger Meter's CEO and CFO Face Personal Liability Claims After Shareholders Lost Over $36 Per Share When Alleged Order Pull-Forward Scheme Unraveled

, /PRNewswire/ -- SueWallSt alerts investors in Badger Meter, Inc. (NYSE: BMI) of a pending securities class action naming senior executives as individual defendants. Class Period: April 18, 2024 through April 16, 2026. Find out if you qualify to recover losses or contact Joseph E. Levi, Esq. at [email protected] | (888) SueWallSt.

BMI shares fell more than 24%, losing $36.75 per share in a single session after the Company disclosed that weakening short-cycle municipal orders had reduced revenue by $15 million to $20 million versus internal expectations. The Court has set August 3, 2026 as the deadline to apply for lead plaintiff appointment.

The Named Individual Defendants

Three senior officers are named as defendants in the action filed in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York:

Kenneth C. Bockhorst, Chief Executive Officer throughout the Class Period, who signed SEC filings and made public statements attributing record results to "ongoing favorable industry fundamentals" and "robust customer demand" Robert A. Wrocklage, Chief Financial Officer until January 1, 2026, then Executive Vice President, who certified quarterly and annual financial reports and discussed demand drivers with analysts Daniel R. Weltzien, Chief Financial Officer since January 1, 2026, who certified subsequent financial reports and made statements regarding revenue variability Section 20(a) Control Person Framework

The lawsuit asserts claims under Section 20(a) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, which imposes liability on individuals who "controlled" an entity that violated securities laws. The complaint contends each Individual Defendant possessed the power and authority to control the contents of Badger Meter's SEC reports, press releases, and presentations to analysts and institutional investors. Each was allegedly provided with copies of the Company's public statements prior to issuance and had the ability to prevent their release or cause corrections.

Sarbanes-Oxley Certification Obligations

Under Sections 302 and 906 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, the CEO and CFO personally certify the accuracy of each quarterly and annual report filed with the SEC. The action alleges that:

Bockhorst and the serving CFO certified filings that presented pulled-forward revenue as evidence of durable demand These certifications accompanied financial results later revealed to have been inflated by order acceleration that depleted future-period revenue The certifying officers knew or recklessly disregarded that short-cycle demand variability "has always existed" but was concealed by backlog conditions When analysts directly asked whether customers were pulling forward orders, the CEO denied it, stating 75% of revenue goes to end users who "really, in many ways, cannot pull forward" Scienter Allegations

The pleading asserts that the Individual Defendants' own end-of-Class-Period admissions support an inference of scienter. Management acknowledged that short-cycle ordering variability existed throughout 2023 to 2025 but was "less visible in the revenue outcomes because of the backlog condition combined with projects in flight." This admission, as averred, suggests the defendants understood the true demand picture while publicly attributing results to secular growth drivers.

"Corporate officers have a duty to ensure their companies' public statements are accurate and complete. When executives personally certify financial results that are later shown to have been materially misleading, the securities laws provide a framework for holding those individuals accountable." -- Joseph E. Levi, Esq.

Frequently Asked Questions About the BMI Lawsuit

Q: Who are the defendants named in the BMI lawsuit? A: The complaint names Badger Meter, Inc. and individual defendants including CEO Kenneth C. Bockhorst, former CFO Robert A. Wrocklage, and current CFO Daniel R. Weltzien, each of whom signed SEC filings, made public statements, or certified financial disclosures under Sarbanes-Oxley.

Q: What specific misstatements does the BMI lawsuit allege? A: The complaint alleges Badger Meter made materially false or misleading statements regarding the drivers of its record financial results, attributing them to durable demand and secular growth trends while concealing that revenue was being pulled forward from future periods. When the true state was revealed, the stock price declined sharply.

Q: What is a lead plaintiff and why does it matter? A: A lead plaintiff is the investor appointed by the court to represent the entire class. Lead plaintiffs are typically investors with the largest documented losses. Being appointed does not increase individual recovery but gives direct oversight of how the case is run.

Q: How do I know if I lost enough money to be the lead plaintiff? A: There is no minimum loss threshold. Courts appoint the investor with the largest provable loss who is willing and able to represent the class adequately. Contact SueWallSt before August 3, 2026 to evaluate.

Q: What does it cost me to participate? A: Nothing. Securities class actions are handled on a pure contingency basis. No upfront fees, no retainer, no out-of-pocket costs.

Q: What if I already sold my BMI shares -- can I still recover losses? A: Yes. Eligibility is based on when you purchased, not whether you still hold them. Investors who bought during the class period and sold at a loss may still participate.

SueWallSt Reminds Shareholders of a Lead Plaintiff Deadline of August 3, 2026 in Badger Meter, Inc. Lawsuit - BMI
BMI Badger Meter
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Badger Meter Promised Investors "High Single-Digit" Growth Driven by "Robust Demand" — Then Delivered a 9% Revenue Decline and $36.75 Per Share in Losses When the Truth Emerged

, /PRNewswire/ -- SueWallSt highlights the contrast between Badger Meter, Inc.'s (NYSE: BMI) promises to shareholders and the results that ultimately materialized. Find our if you might be eligible to recover losses or contact Joseph E. Levi, Esq. at [email protected] or (888) SueWallSt.

BMI shares collapsed more than 24%, losing $36.75 per share on April 17, 2026, after the company disclosed total sales fell 9% year-over-year and utility water revenue dropped 10%. The lead plaintiff deadline is August 3, 2026.

The Promise

Throughout 2024 and into early 2025, Badger Meter's leadership painted a picture of durable, accelerating growth for investors. The company projected "high single-digit average top line growth" supported by what it described as "ongoing favorable industry fundamentals" and "secular growth drivers." Management characterized demand as "robust" and told the market its order book and opportunity pipeline "continue to support" the growth outlook. On the 1Q 2025 earnings call, the company went further, directly rejecting the possibility that customers were pulling orders forward, asserting that 75% of revenue went to end users who "really, in many ways, cannot pull forward."

The Reality

The company's actual trajectory told a different story:

Promised: "High single-digit average top line growth" sustained by secular demand Delivered: Total sales declined 9% year-over-year in 1Q 2026 Promised: Utility water revenue driven by "robust adoption rates" and "solid demand" Delivered: Utility water sales fell 10% year-over-year in 1Q 2026 Promised: Operating margins expanding on "strong operating execution" Delivered: Operating margin contracted from 22.2% to 17.4% in one year Promised: EPS growth trajectory; 1Q 2025 delivered $1.30 diluted EPS Delivered: Diluted EPS fell to $0.93 in 1Q 2026, a 28% decline Promised: No evidence of customer order pull-forward; "pretty normal order environment" Delivered: Management acknowledged $15 million to $20 million of revenue shortfall from "softer short-cycle municipal customer ordering" What the Lawsuit Contends About the Gap

The securities action alleges that Badger Meter's "record" results during the Class Period were not the product of genuine demand growth but were instead inflated by pulling forward customer orders, which depleted revenue from future periods. When backlog cushions thinned and short-cycle ordering weakened, the complaint asserts, the company could no longer mask the underlying deterioration. Management itself eventually conceded that the demand "variability" seen in 1Q 2026 "has always existed" during 2023-2025 but was "less visible" due to backlog levels and projects in flight.

"Companies that make specific promises to investors about future performance have an obligation to disclose known risks to those projections. The contrast between what Badger Meter communicated about its growth trajectory and what ultimately occurred raises serious questions for shareholders." — Joseph E. Levi, Esq.

DT Midstream (DTM) Earnings Expected to Grow: What to Know Ahead of Next Week's Release
DTM DT Midstream
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Wall Street expects a year-over-year increase in earnings on higher revenues when DT Midstream (DTM - Free Report) reports results for the quarter ended June 2026.

While the sustainability of the immediate price change and future earnings expectations will mostly depend on management's discussion of business conditions on the earnings call, it's worth handicapping the probability of a positive EPS surprise.

Zacks Consensus EstimateThis natural gas pipeline operator is expected to post quarterly earnings of $1.14 per share in its upcoming report, which represents a year-over-year change of +9.6%.

Revenues are expected to be $338.24 million, up 9.5% from the year-ago quarter.

Estimate Revisions TrendThe consensus EPS estimate for the quarter has been revised 0.22% higher over the last 30 days to the current level. This is essentially a reflection of how the covering analysts have collectively reassessed their initial estimates over this period.

Investors should keep in mind that an aggregate change may not always reflect the direction of estimate revisions by each of the covering analysts.

Price, Consensus and EPS Surprise

Earnings WhisperEstimate revisions ahead of a company's earnings release offer clues to the business conditions for the period whose results are coming out. Our proprietary surprise prediction model -- the Zacks Earnings ESP (Expected Surprise Prediction) -- has this insight at its core.

How Have the Numbers Shaped Up for DT Midstream? For DT Midstream, the Most Accurate Estimate is lower than the Zacks Consensus Estimate, suggesting that analysts have recently become bearish on the company's earnings prospects. This has resulted in an Earnings ESP of -6.03%.

On the other hand, the stock currently carries a Zacks Rank of #3.

So, this combination makes it difficult to conclusively predict that DT Midstream will beat the consensus EPS estimate.

Does Earnings Surprise History Hold Any Clue?Analysts often consider to what extent a company has been able to match consensus estimates in the past while calculating their estimates for its future earnings. So, it's worth taking a look at the surprise history for gauging its influence on the upcoming number.

For the last reported quarter, it was expected that DT Midstream would post earnings of $1.11 per share when it actually produced earnings of $1.27, delivering a surprise of +14.41%.

Over the last four quarters, the company has beaten consensus EPS estimates three times.

DT Midstream doesn't appear a compelling earnings-beat candidate. However, investors should pay attention to other factors too for betting on this stock or staying away from it ahead of its earnings release.

Expected Results of an Industry PlayerNational Fuel Gas (NFG - Free Report) , another stock in the Zacks Oil and Gas - Integrated - United States industry, is expected to report earnings per share of $1.47 for the quarter ended June 2026. This estimate points to a year-over-year change of -10.4%. Revenues for the quarter are expected to be $564.39 million, up 6.1% from the year-ago quarter.

Over the last 30 days, the consensus EPS estimate for National Fuel Gas has been revised 0.8% up to the current level. Nevertheless, the company now has an Earnings ESP of +2.15%, reflecting a higher Most Accurate Estimate.

When combined with a Zacks Rank of #3 (Hold), this Earnings ESP indicates that National Fuel Gas will most likely beat the consensus EPS estimate. Over the last four quarters, the company surpassed consensus EPS estimates three times.

CHWY Chewy
FMP Stock News

Chewy (CHWY -3.39%) was a stock market darling during the pandemic. The online pet supply retailer boomed as locked-down consumers sought safe ways to shop for their pets.

As the necessity for social distancing waned, investors turned on the retail stock. However, Chewy's revenue never stopped growing even as customers returned to in-person shopping. The stock fell to a multiyear low in June 2026. However, the rebound that began late last month is likely to continue.

The state of Chewy Chewy stock is up 23% since bottoming late in June. However, it is still at the lower end of the range in which it has traded since settling down after the pandemic. Today, it trades at an 82% discount from its all-time high.

Now, it appears that most investors have not reconsidered the stock's value proposition. Chewy's revenue growth never stopped, and it has evolved from merely a retailer into a more comprehensive pet care company.

Besides its Chewy+ loyalty program and the ease of automatic purchases through autoship, it began to expand internationally by serving parts of Canada. Furthermore, it offers online telehealth services for pets, and has opened numerous vet clinics.

In its fiscal 2026 first quarter, which ended May 3, its net sales rose by almost 8% from year-ago levels to $3.36 billion. That was slightly higher than its 6% increase during fiscal 2025.

Moreover, the company turned profitable after fiscal 2022 and has reported positive earnings in every year since. In fiscal Q1, its net income surged by 52% to $95 million. Although net income fell in 2025, it would have increased rapidly if not for a $241 million one-time income tax benefit in 2024 that impacted the comparison.

This means investors can now buy into a more solid company whose stock trades at a fraction of its valuation during the pandemic. For now, it sells at a price-to-earnings ratio (P/E) of 36, which is a bit of a premium compared to the S&P 500's average earnings multiple of 25.5. But its forward P/E of 14 indicates that it's inexpensive based on where the company's bottom line is expected to go in the near future.

Chewy as a rebounding stock The company's continued business expansion and net sales growth amid a falling P/E ratio position the stock for a rebound. Investors may have lost interest in this e-commerce specialist after the pandemic. Nonetheless, it has evolved from just a retailer into more of a pet care company in that time.

Also, the huge surge in profits bodes well for prospective shareholders considering its low forward earnings multiple. Knowing this, investors may want to add the stock to their portfolios now before more people take notice of this increasingly attractive buying opportunity.

Why Avery Dennison (AVY) is a Top Growth Stock for the Long-Term
AVY Avery Dennison

It doesn't matter your age or experience: taking full advantage of the stock market and investing with confidence are common goals for all investors. Luckily, Zacks Premium offers several different ways to do both.

The research service features daily updates of the Zacks Rank and Zacks Industry Rank, full access to the Zacks #1 Rank List, Equity Research reports, and Premium stock screens, all of which will help you become a smarter, more confident investor.

Zacks Premium also includes the Zacks Style Scores.

What are the Zacks Style Scores? Developed alongside the Zacks Rank, the Zacks Style Scores are a group of complementary indicators that help investors pick stocks with the best chances of beating the market over the next 30 days.

Each stock is given an alphabetic rating of A, B, C, D or F based on their value, growth, and momentum qualities. With this system, an A is better than a B, a B is better than a C, and so on, meaning the better the score, the better chance the stock will outperform.

The Style Scores are broken down into four categories:

Value ScoreFinding good stocks at good prices, and discovering which companies are trading under their true value, are what value investors like to focus on. So, the Value Style Score takes into account ratios like P/E, PEG, Price/Sales, Price/Cash Flow, and a host of other multiples to highlight the most attractive and discounted stocks.

Growth ScoreWhile good value is important, growth investors are more focused on a company's financial strength and health, and its future outlook. The Growth Style Score takes projected and historic earnings, sales, and cash flow into account to uncover stocks that will see long-term, sustainable growth.

How Style Scores Work with the Zacks Rank The Zacks Rank, which is a proprietary stock-rating model, employs earnings estimate revisions, or changes to a company's earnings expectations, to make building a winning portfolio easier.

#1 (Strong Buy) stocks have produced an unmatched +23.94% average annual return since 1988, which is more than double the S&P 500's performance over the same time frame. However, the Zacks Rank examines a ton of stocks, and there can be more than 200 companies with a Strong Buy rank, and another 600 with a #2 (Buy) rank, on any given day.

This totals more than 800 top-rated stocks, and it can be overwhelming to try and pick the best stocks for you and your portfolio.

That's where the Style Scores come in.

You want to make sure you're buying stocks with the highest likelihood of success, and to do that, you'll need to pick stocks with a Zacks Rank #1 or #2 that also have Style Scores of A or B. If you like a stock that only has a #3 (Hold) rank, it should also have Scores of A or B to guarantee as much upside potential as possible.

The direction of a stock's earnings estimate revisions should always be a key factor when choosing which stocks to buy, since the Scores were created to work together with the Zacks Rank.

A stock with a #4 (Sell) or #5 (Strong Sell) rating, for instance, even one with Scores of A and B, will still have a declining earnings forecast, and a greater chance its share price will fall too.

Thus, the more stocks you own with a #1 or #2 Rank and Scores of A or B, the better.

Stock to Watch: Avery Dennison (AVY - Free Report) Headquartered in Pasadena, CA, Avery Dennison Corporation produces pressure-sensitive materials, and a variety of tickets, tags, labels and other converted products. Its clientele is spread across the United States, Europe, Asia, Latin America and other regions.

AVY is a #3 (Hold) on the Zacks Rank, with a VGM Score of B.

Additionally, the company could be a top pick for growth investors. AVY has a Growth Style Score of B, forecasting year-over-year earnings growth of 4.9% for the current fiscal year.

One analyst revised their earnings estimate higher in the last 60 days for fiscal 2026, while the Zacks Consensus Estimate has increased $0.00 to $10.00 per share. AVY also boasts an average earnings surprise of +2.1%.

With a solid Zacks Rank and top-tier Growth and VGM Style Scores, AVY should be on investors' short list.

Avery Dennison (AVY) Reports Next Week: Wall Street Expects Earnings Growth
AVY Avery Dennison
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Avery Dennison (AVY - Free Report) is expected to deliver a year-over-year increase in earnings on higher revenues when it reports results for the quarter ended June 2026. This widely-known consensus outlook gives a good sense of the company's earnings picture, but how the actual results compare to these estimates is a powerful factor that could impact its near-term stock price.

Zacks Consensus EstimateThis maker of office products is expected to post quarterly earnings of $2.47 per share in its upcoming report, which represents a year-over-year change of +2.1%.

Revenues are expected to be $2.29 billion, up 3.1% from the year-ago quarter.

Estimate Revisions TrendThe consensus EPS estimate for the quarter has been revised 0.1% higher over the last 30 days to the current level.

How Have the Numbers Shaped Up for Avery Dennison? For Avery Dennison, the Most Accurate Estimate is lower than the Zacks Consensus Estimate, suggesting that analysts have recently become bearish on the company's earnings prospects. This has resulted in an Earnings ESP of -0.44%.

On the other hand, the stock currently carries a Zacks Rank of #3.

So, this combination makes it difficult to conclusively predict that Avery Dennison will beat the consensus EPS estimate.

Does Earnings Surprise History Hold Any Clue? While calculating estimates for a company's future earnings, analysts often consider to what extent it has been able to match past consensus estimates. So, it's worth taking a look at the surprise history for gauging its influence on the upcoming number.

For the last reported quarter, it was expected that Avery Dennison would post earnings of $2.41 per share when it actually produced earnings of $2.47, delivering a surprise of +2.49%.

Avery Dennison doesn't appear a compelling earnings-beat candidate. However, investors should pay attention to other factors too for betting on this stock or staying away from it ahead of its earnings release.

RJF Raymond James Financial
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Key Takeaways Raymond James' adjusted EPS rose 44% to $3.14 as net revenues reached a record $3.93 billion.Asset management fees climbed 20%, while investment banking revenues jumped 37%.Client assets reached a record $1.92 trillion, and financial assets under management grew 31%. Raymond James’ (RJF - Free Report)  third-quarter fiscal 2026 (ended June 30) adjusted earnings of $3.14 per share beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $2.91. The bottom line increased 44% from the prior-year quarter.

Results benefited primarily from an increase in revenues to record levels. Robust growth in assets under administration balances and a benefit from credit losses on bank loans further supported results. However, higher expenses were a headwind.

Net income available to common shareholders (GAAP basis) was $595 million or $3.01 per share, up from $435 million or $2.12 in the prior-year quarter.

RJF’s Revenues Improve, Expenses RiseNet revenues were a record $3.93 billion, up 16% year over year. The top line beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $3.86 billion.

Asset management and related administrative fees increased 20% year over year to $2.08 billion. Brokerage revenues rose 13% to $629 million, while account and service fees increased 5% to $316 million. Investment banking (IB) revenues jumped 37% to $291 million. Interest income was relatively stable at $994 million.

Segment-wise, in the reported quarter, the Private Client Group recorded 14% year-over-year growth in net revenues. Asset Management’s net revenues rose 24%, while Capital Markets’ top line increased 25%. Bank registered a rise of 7% from the prior year’s net revenues, while Other recorded negative revenues.

Non-interest expenses increased 12% from the prior-year quarter to $3.18 billion. The increase was mainly due to a rise in compensation, commissions and benefits, communications and information processing, occupancy and equipment, business development, investment sub-advisory fees and professional fees. This was partly offset by lower other expenses and a $26-million bank loan benefit for credit losses.

As of June 30, 2026, client assets under administration were a record $1.92 trillion, up 17% from the prior-year period. Financial assets under management of $345 billion grew 31% year over year.

RJF’s Balance Sheet & Capital Ratios StrongAs of June 30, 2026, Raymond James had total assets of $94.2 billion, up 3% from the prior-quarter end. Total common equity was $12.7 billion, up 1% from the previous quarter.

Book value per share was $66.11, up from $60.90 as of June 30, 2025.

As of June 30, 2026, the total capital ratio was 22.5%, down from 24.2% as of June 30, 2025. The Tier 1 capital ratio was 21.6% compared with 22.9% as of June 30, 2025.

Return on common equity (annualized basis) was 18.8% at the end of the reported quarter compared with 14.3% a year ago.

Update on Raymond James’ Share RepurchasesIn the reported quarter, RJF repurchased shares worth $400 million at an average price of $152 per share.

As of June 30, 2026, $1.1 billion remained available under the buyback authorization.

Our View on Raymond JamesRaymond James’ diversified business model and continued strength in the Private Client Group are expected to support results. Record fee-based assets, robust financial advisor recruiting, strong investment banking pipelines and ample capital and liquidity are positives for the company.

Also, the completion of the Clark Capital acquisition supported financial assets under management. However, elevated operating expenses remain a concern.

Currently, Raymond James carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold). You can see the complete list of today’s Zacks #1 Rank (Strong Buy) stocks here.

Performance of RJF’s PeersCharles Schwab’s (SCHW - Free Report) second-quarter 2026 adjusted earnings of $1.62 per share outpaced the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.53. The bottom line soared 42% year over year.

Schwab’s results benefited from the robust performance of the asset management business and record trading revenues. Higher net interest revenues and solid brokerage account numbers were other positives. However, an increase in expenses was the undermining factor.

Jefferies Financial Group’s (JEF - Free Report) second-quarter fiscal 2026 (ended May 31) adjusted earnings per share from continuing operations of $1.03 missed the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.09. However, the bottom line increased significantly from the prior-year quarter.

Results were primarily aided by record IB advisory and underwriting net revenues, as well as record equities net revenues. However, a rise in expenses hurt Jefferies’ results to an extent.

Earnings Preview: Group 1 Automotive (GPI) Q2 Earnings Expected to Decline
GPI Group 1 Automotive
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Wall Street expects a year-over-year decline in earnings on lower revenues when Group 1 Automotive (GPI - Free Report) reports results for the quarter ended June 2026. While this widely-known consensus outlook is important in gauging the company's earnings picture, a powerful factor that could impact its near-term stock price is how the actual results compare to these estimates.

The stock might move higher if these key numbers top expectations in the upcoming earnings report, which is expected to be released on July 30. On the other hand, if they miss, the stock may move lower.

While management's discussion of business conditions on the earnings call will mostly determine the sustainability of the immediate price change and future earnings expectations, it's worth having a handicapping insight into the odds of a positive EPS surprise.

Zacks Consensus EstimateThis auto dealer is expected to post quarterly earnings of $10.79 per share in its upcoming report, which represents a year-over-year change of -6.3%.

Revenues are expected to be $5.65 billion, down 0.9% from the year-ago quarter.

Estimate Revisions TrendThe consensus EPS estimate for the quarter has been revised 1.55% lower over the last 30 days to the current level.

How Have the Numbers Shaped Up for Group 1 Automotive? For Group 1 Automotive, the Most Accurate Estimate is lower than the Zacks Consensus Estimate, suggesting that analysts have recently become bearish on the company's earnings prospects. This has resulted in an Earnings ESP of -0.03%.

On the other hand, the stock currently carries a Zacks Rank of #4.

So, this combination makes it difficult to conclusively predict that Group 1 Automotive will beat the consensus EPS estimate.

Does Earnings Surprise History Hold Any Clue? While calculating estimates for a company's future earnings, analysts often consider to what extent it has been able to match past consensus estimates. So, it's worth taking a look at the surprise history for gauging its influence on the upcoming number.

For the last reported quarter, it was expected that Group 1 Automotive would post earnings of $8.93 per share when it actually produced earnings of $8.66, delivering a surprise of -3.02%.

Over the last four quarters, the company has beaten consensus EPS estimates just once.

Group 1 Automotive doesn't appear a compelling earnings-beat candidate. However, investors should pay attention to other factors too for betting on this stock or staying away from it ahead of its earnings release.

Expected Results of an Industry PlayerPenske Automotive (PAG - Free Report) , another stock in the Zacks Automotive - Retail and Whole Sales industry, is expected to report earnings per share of $3.38 for the quarter ended June 2026. This estimate points to a year-over-year change of -10.6%. Revenues for the quarter are expected to be $7.93 billion, up 3.4% from the year-ago quarter.

Over the last 30 days, the consensus EPS estimate for Penske has been revised 0.2% down to the current level. Nevertheless, the company now has an Earnings ESP of -0.74%, reflecting a lower Most Accurate Estimate.

This Earnings ESP, combined with its Zacks Rank #3 (Hold), makes it difficult to conclusively predict that Penske will beat the consensus EPS estimate. Over the last four quarters, the company surpassed consensus EPS estimates two times.

The research service features daily updates of the Zacks Rank and Zacks Industry Rank, full access to the Zacks #1 Rank List, Equity Research reports, and Premium stock screens, all of which will help you become a smarter, more confident investor.

Value ScoreFinding good stocks at good prices, and discovering which companies are trading under their true value, are what value investors like to focus on. So, the Value Style Score takes into account ratios like P/E, PEG, Price/Sales, Price/Cash Flow, and a host of other multiples to highlight the most attractive and discounted stocks.

Growth ScoreGrowth investors are more concerned with a stock's future prospects, and the overall financial health and strength of a company. Thus, the Growth Style Score analyzes characteristics like projected and historic earnings, sales, and cash flow to find stocks that will see sustainable growth over time.

Momentum ScoreMomentum trading is all about taking advantage of upward or downward trends in a stock's price or earnings outlook, and these investors live by the saying "the trend is your friend." The Momentum Style Score can pinpoint good times to build a position in a stock, using factors like one-week price change and the monthly percentage change in earnings estimates.

VGM ScoreWhat if you like to use all three types of investing? The VGM Score is a combination of all Style Scores, making it one of the most comprehensive indicators to use with the Zacks Rank. It rates each stock on their combined weighted styles, which helps narrow down the companies with the most attractive value, best growth forecast, and most promising momentum.

How Style Scores Work with the Zacks Rank The Zacks Rank, which is a proprietary stock-rating model, employs earnings estimate revisions, or changes to a company's earnings expectations, to make building a winning portfolio easier.

It's highly successful, with #1 (Strong Buy) stocks producing an unmatched +23.94% average annual return since 1988. That's more than double the S&P 500. But because of the large number of stocks we rate, there are over 200 companies with a Strong Buy rank, plus another 600 with a #2 (Buy) rank, on any given day.

With more than 800 top-rated stocks to choose from, it can certainly feel overwhelming to pick the ones that are right for you and your investing journey.

That's where the Style Scores come in.

To maximize your returns, you want to buy stocks with the highest probability of success. This means picking stocks with a Zacks Rank #1 or #2 that also have Style Scores of A or B. If you find yourself looking at stocks with a #3 (Hold) rank, make sure they have Scores of A or B as well to ensure as much upside potential as possible.

Stock to Watch: BorgWarner (BWA - Free Report) BorgWarner Inc. is a global product leader in clean and efficient technology solutions for combustion, hybrid and electric vehicles. Its products are designed to improve vehicle performance, propulsion efficiency, stability and air quality. The company manufactures and sells these products worldwide, primarily to OEMs of light vehicles, and also supplies OEMs of commercial vehicles and off-highway vehicles. BorgWarner also sells certain products to tier-one vehicle systems suppliers and into the aftermarket.

BWA is a #3 (Hold) on the Zacks Rank, with a VGM Score of A.

It also boasts a Value Style Score of A thanks to attractive valuation metrics like a forward P/E ratio of 12.44; value investors should take notice.

Two analysts revised their earnings estimate upwards in the last 60 days for fiscal 2026. The Zacks Consensus Estimate has increased $0.00 to $5.16 per share. BWA boasts an average earnings surprise of +11.1%.

With a solid Zacks Rank and top-tier Value and VGM Style Scores, BWA should be on investors' short list.

Darling Ingredients (DAR) Earnings Expected to Grow: What to Know Ahead of Next Week's Release
DAR Darling Ingredients
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Wall Street expects a year-over-year increase in earnings on higher revenues when Darling Ingredients (DAR - Free Report) reports results for the quarter ended June 2026.

Zacks Consensus EstimateThis producer of natural ingredients from edible and inedible bionutrients is expected to post quarterly earnings of $1.45 per share in its upcoming report, which represents a year-over-year change of +1511.1%.

Revenues are expected to be $1.8 billion, up 21.8% from the year-ago quarter.

Estimate Revisions TrendThe consensus EPS estimate for the quarter has been revised 14.25% higher over the last 30 days to the current level.

How Have the Numbers Shaped Up for Darling? For Darling, the Most Accurate Estimate is the same as the Zacks Consensus Estimate, suggesting that there are no recent analyst views which differ from what have been considered to derive the consensus estimate. This has resulted in an Earnings ESP of 0%.

On the other hand, the stock currently carries a Zacks Rank of #3.

So, this combination makes it difficult to conclusively predict that Darling will beat the consensus EPS estimate.

Does Earnings Surprise History Hold Any Clue? While calculating estimates for a company's future earnings, analysts often consider to what extent it has been able to match past consensus estimates. So, it's worth taking a look at the surprise history for gauging its influence on the upcoming number.

For the last reported quarter, it was expected that Darling would post earnings of $0.56 per share when it actually produced earnings of $0.83, delivering a surprise of +48.21%.

Over the last four quarters, the company has beaten consensus EPS estimates two times.

Darling doesn't appear a compelling earnings-beat candidate. However, investors should pay attention to other factors too for betting on this stock or staying away from it ahead of its earnings release.

Expected Results of an Industry PlayerAnother stock from the Zacks Food - Miscellaneous industry, Mondelez (MDLZ - Free Report) , is soon expected to post earnings of $0.67 per share for the quarter ended June 2026. This estimate indicates a year-over-year change of -8.2%. Revenues for the quarter are expected to be $9.21 billion, up 2.5% from the year-ago quarter.

The consensus EPS estimate for Mondelez has been revised 6.8% lower over the last 30 days to the current level. However, a higher Most Accurate Estimate has resulted in an Earnings ESP of +0.97%.

When combined with a Zacks Rank of #3 (Hold), this Earnings ESP indicates that Mondelez will most likely beat the consensus EPS estimate. The company beat consensus EPS estimates in each of the trailing four quarters.

Analysts Estimate Martin Marietta (MLM) to Report a Decline in Earnings: What to Look Out for
MLM Martin Marietta Materials

Wall Street expects a year-over-year decline in earnings on higher revenues when Martin Marietta (MLM - Free Report) reports results for the quarter ended June 2026.

While the sustainability of the immediate price change and future earnings expectations will mostly depend on management's discussion of business conditions on the earnings call, it's worth handicapping the probability of a positive EPS surprise.

Zacks Consensus EstimateThis seller of granite, limestone, sand and gravel is expected to post quarterly earnings of $4.62 per share in its upcoming report, which represents a year-over-year change of -14.9%.

Revenues are expected to be $1.87 billion, up 3.1% from the year-ago quarter.

Estimate Revisions TrendThe consensus EPS estimate for the quarter has been revised 1.98% higher over the last 30 days to the current level. This is essentially a reflection of how the covering analysts have collectively reassessed their initial estimates over this period.

How Have the Numbers Shaped Up for Martin Marietta? For Martin Marietta, the Most Accurate Estimate is lower than the Zacks Consensus Estimate, suggesting that analysts have recently become bearish on the company's earnings prospects. This has resulted in an Earnings ESP of -3.20%.

On the other hand, the stock currently carries a Zacks Rank of #3.

So, this combination makes it difficult to conclusively predict that Martin Marietta will beat the consensus EPS estimate.

Does Earnings Surprise History Hold Any Clue?Analysts often consider to what extent a company has been able to match consensus estimates in the past while calculating their estimates for its future earnings. So, it's worth taking a look at the surprise history for gauging its influence on the upcoming number.

For the last reported quarter, it was expected that Martin Marietta would post earnings of $1.76 per share when it actually produced earnings of $1.93, delivering a surprise of +9.66%.

Over the last four quarters, the company has beaten consensus EPS estimates two times.

Expected Results of an Industry PlayerAnother stock from the Zacks Building Products - Concrete and Aggregates industry, Vulcan Materials (VMC - Free Report) , is soon expected to post earnings of $2.5 per share for the quarter ended June 2026. This estimate indicates a year-over-year change of +2%. Revenues for the quarter are expected to be $2.16 billion, up 2.5% from the year-ago quarter.

Over the last 30 days, the consensus EPS estimate for Vulcan has been revised 0.6% down to the current level. Nevertheless, the company now has an Earnings ESP of -0.89%, reflecting a lower Most Accurate Estimate.

This Earnings ESP, combined with its Zacks Rank #3 (Hold), makes it difficult to conclusively predict that Vulcan will beat the consensus EPS estimate. Over the last four quarters, the company surpassed consensus EPS estimates two times.

On May 7, 2026, Planet Fitness reported its first quarter 2026 financial results and updated its full-year outlook.  Among other items, Planet Fitness disclosed that "2026 is off to a slower than expected start from a net member growth perspective" as the Company faced "internal and external headwinds during our peak sign-up period."  The Company further disclosed that it was pausing its planned national Black Card price increase pending a broader pricing review.  In addition, Planet Fitness stated that, based on "lower net joins than planned in the first quarter" and the decision to pause the Black Card price increase, it was reducing several of its 2026 growth expectations.  The Company lowered expected system-wide same club sales growth to approximately 1%, compared to its prior guidance of 4% to 5%; revenue growth to approximately 7%, compared to prior guidance of approximately 9%; adjusted EBITDA growth to approximately 6%, compared to prior guidance of approximately 10%; adjusted net income to a decrease of approximately 2%, compared to prior guidance of 4% to 5% growth; and adjusted diluted EPS growth to approximately 4%, compared to prior guidance of 9% to 10%.

On this news, Planet Fitness's stock price fell $19.95 per share, or 31.19%, to close at $44.01 per share on May 7, 2026.

PLNT Deadline Alert: SueWallSt Reminds Planet Fitness, Inc. (PLNT) Investors of Securities Class Action Deadline on September 14, 2026
PLNT Planet Fitness
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Planet Fitness allegedly used risk disclosures and investor communications that failed to identify specific marketing and pricing problems already affecting net joins, Black Card rollout assumptions, and 2026 guidance.

, /PRNewswire/ -- SueWallSt alerts investors in Planet Fitness, Inc. (NYSE: PLNT) that a securities class action has been filed on behalf of shareholders who purchased Planet Fitness securities between November 6, 2025 and May 6, 2026. Submit your information. You may also contact Joseph E. Levi, Esq. at [email protected] or (888) SueWallSt.

PLNT declined from $63.96 per share on May 6, 2026 to $44.01 per share on May 7, 2026, a $19.95 per-share drop of approximately 31.19%. LEAD PLAINTIFF DEADLINE: September 14, 2026.

Alleged Disclosure Adequacy Issues in Planet Fitness Risk Statements

The complaint challenges whether Planet Fitness' public statements and risk disclosures adequately informed investors that its national marketing campaign allegedly was not resonating with core fitness beginners and casual gym-goers. As alleged, the Company's communications created the impression that management possessed reliable information supporting the Black Card price rollout, projected membership growth, and sales targets.

The action claims those statements omitted that the campaign allegedly was "actively intimidating" the Company's target demographic during the peak first-quarter sign-up period. Planet Fitness later announced reduced 2026 guidance, withdrew its three-year growth algorithm, and paused the planned national Black Card price increase.

Disclosure Gaps Alleged in Planet Fitness SEC and Investor Communications

The complaint contends investors were not specifically told that net member joins were facing internal headwinds during the most important seasonal sign-up period. The action asserts that the Black Card price increase to $29.99 depended on assumptions that were allegedly not achievable under current marketing conditions. The lawsuit claims the three-year growth algorithm relied on rate and volume expectations that were allegedly undermined before the May 7, 2026 update. Plaintiffs allege the Company minimized risks tied to seasonality, weather, macroeconomic conditions, and customer acquisition while omitting specific marketing problems. Why the May 7 Guidance Reset Matters to Shareholders

On May 7, 2026, Planet Fitness updated 2026 expectations, including system-wide same-club sales growth of approximately 1%, down from 4% to 5%; revenue growth of approximately 7%, down from approximately 9%; adjusted EBITDA growth of approximately 6%, down from approximately 10%; and adjusted diluted EPS growth of approximately 4%, down from 9% to 10%.

The lawsuit asserts claims under Sections 10(b) and 20(a) of the Exchange Act and Rule 10b-5. The filing states that investors purchased PLNT shares at allegedly inflated prices before the disclosure corrected prior alleged omissions.

"Generic risk factor language cannot substitute for disclosing specific, known problems that are already affecting a company's operations. Here, investors should review whether Planet Fitness' disclosures adequately described the alleged marketing and pricing risks that preceded the $19.95 per-share decline." -- Joseph E. Levi, Esq.

Frequently Asked Questions About the PLNT Lawsuit

Q: What specific misstatements does the PLNT lawsuit allege? A: The complaint alleges Planet Fitness made materially false or misleading statements regarding the effectiveness of its marketing strategy, its ability to drive membership growth, the planned Black Card price increase, and its financial targets during the Class Period. When the Company disclosed slower net member growth, reduced 2026 guidance, withdrew its three-year growth algorithm, and paused the Black Card price rollout, the stock price declined sharply.

Q: What court was the PLNT class action filed in? A: The case was filed in the United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire and asserts claims under the federal securities laws.

Q: Who are the defendants named in the PLNT lawsuit? A: The complaint names Planet Fitness, Inc. and individual defendants Colleen Keating, Chief Executive Officer and Director, and Jay Stasz, former Chief Financial Officer.

Q: What is a lead plaintiff and why does it matter? A: A lead plaintiff is the investor appointed by the court to represent the entire class. Lead plaintiffs are typically investors with significant documented losses. Being appointed does not increase individual recovery but gives direct oversight of how the case is run.

Q: What if I already sold my PLNT shares, can I still recover losses? A: Yes. Eligibility is based on when you purchased, not whether you still hold the shares. Investors who bought during the Class Period and sold at a loss may still be eligible to participate.

Q: What does it cost me to participate? A: There is no upfront cost to contact the firm. Securities class actions are generally handled on a pure contingency basis. No upfront fees, no retainer, and no out-of-pocket costs. Any attorneys' fees and expenses awarded to class counsel are subject to court approval.

Q: What if I live outside the United States? A: U.S. securities class actions generally cover purchases on U.S. exchanges regardless of the investor's country of residence.

Symbotic Inc. (SYM) is Attracting Investor Attention: Here is What You Should Know
SYM Symbotic
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Symbotic Inc. (SYM - Free Report) is one of the stocks most watched by Zacks.com visitors lately. So, it might be a good idea to review some of the factors that might affect the near-term performance of the stock.

Shares of this company have returned +7.7% over the past month versus the Zacks S&P 500 composite's +0.4% change. The Zacks Technology Services industry, to which SYMBOTIC INC belongs, has lost 4.7% over this period. Now the key question is: Where could the stock be headed in the near term?

While media releases or rumors about a substantial change in a company's business prospects usually make its stock 'trending' and lead to an immediate price change, there are always some fundamental facts that eventually dominate the buy-and-hold decision-making.

Earnings Estimate RevisionsHere at Zacks, we prioritize appraising the change in the projection of a company's future earnings over anything else. That's because we believe the present value of its future stream of earnings is what determines the fair value for its stock.

Our analysis is essentially based on how sell-side analysts covering the stock are revising their earnings estimates to take the latest business trends into account. When earnings estimates for a company go up, the fair value for its stock goes up as well. And when a stock's fair value is higher than its current market price, investors tend to buy the stock, resulting in its price moving upward. Because of this, empirical studies indicate a strong correlation between trends in earnings estimate revisions and short-term stock price movements.

For the current quarter, SYMBOTIC INC is expected to post earnings of $0.12 per share, indicating a change of +340% from the year-ago quarter. The Zacks Consensus Estimate remained unchanged over the last 30 days.

The consensus earnings estimate of $0.5 for the current fiscal year indicates a year-over-year change of -72.5%. This estimate has remained unchanged over the last 30 days.

For the next fiscal year, the consensus earnings estimate of $0.67 indicates a change of +34.5% from what SYMBOTIC INC is expected to report a year ago. Over the past month, the estimate has changed +6.3%.

With an impressive externally audited track record, our proprietary stock rating tool -- the Zacks Rank -- is a more conclusive indicator of a stock's near-term price performance, as it effectively harnesses the power of earnings estimate revisions. The size of the recent change in the consensus estimate, along with three other factors related to earnings estimates, has resulted in a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold) for SYMBOTIC INC.

The chart below shows the evolution of the company's forward 12-month consensus EPS estimate:

12 Month EPS

Revenue Growth ForecastWhile earnings growth is arguably the most superior indicator of a company's financial health, nothing happens as such if a business isn't able to grow its revenues. After all, it's nearly impossible for a company to increase its earnings for an extended period without increasing its revenues. So, it's important to know a company's potential revenue growth.

For SYMBOTIC INC, the consensus sales estimate for the current quarter of $714.76 million indicates a year-over-year change of +20.7%. For the current and next fiscal years, $2.79 billion and $3.62 billion estimates indicate +24.1% and +30% changes, respectively.

Last Reported Results and Surprise HistorySYMBOTIC INC reported revenues of $676.48 million in the last reported quarter, representing a year-over-year change of +23.1%. EPS of $0.44 for the same period compares with -$0.04 a year ago.

Compared to the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $660.6 million, the reported revenues represent a surprise of +2.4%. The EPS surprise was +300%.

Over the last four quarters, SYMBOTIC INC surpassed consensus EPS estimates three times. The company topped consensus revenue estimates each time over this period.

ValuationNo investment decision can be efficient without considering a stock's valuation. Whether a stock's current price rightly reflects the intrinsic value of the underlying business and the company's growth prospects is an essential determinant of its future price performance.

While comparing the current values of a company's valuation multiples, such as price-to-earnings (P/E), price-to-sales (P/S), and price-to-cash flow (P/CF), with its own historical values helps determine whether its stock is fairly valued, overvalued, or undervalued, comparing the company relative to its peers on these parameters gives a good sense of the reasonability of the stock's price.

As part of the Zacks Style Scores system, the Zacks Value Style Score (which evaluates both traditional and unconventional valuation metrics) organizes stocks into five groups ranging from A to F (A is better than B; B is better than C; and so on), making it helpful in identifying whether a stock is overvalued, rightly valued, or temporarily undervalued.

SYMBOTIC INC is graded D on this front, indicating that it is trading at a premium to its peers. Click here to see the values of some of the valuation metrics that have driven this grade.

Bottom LineThe facts discussed here and much other information on Zacks.com might help determine whether or not it's worthwhile paying attention to the market buzz about SYMBOTIC INC. However, its Zacks Rank #3 does suggest that it may perform in line with the broader market in the near term.

Zacks Premium includes access to the Zacks Style Scores as well.

What are the Zacks Style Scores? The Zacks Style Scores, developed alongside the Zacks Rank, are complementary indicators that rate stocks based on three widely-followed investing methodologies; they also help investors pick stocks with the best chances of beating the market over the next 30 days.

Growth ScoreWhile good value is important, growth investors are more focused on a company's financial strength and health, and its future outlook. The Growth Style Score takes projected and historic earnings, sales, and cash flow into account to uncover stocks that will see long-term, sustainable growth.

Momentum ScoreMomentum traders and investors live by the saying "the trend is your friend." This investing style is all about taking advantage of upward or downward trends in a stock's price or earnings outlook. Employing factors like one-week price change and the monthly percentage change in earnings estimates, the Momentum Style Score can indicate favorable times to build a position in high-momentum stocks.

VGM ScoreIf you like to use all three kinds of investing, then the VGM Score is for you. It's a combination of all Style Scores, and is an important indicator to use with the Zacks Rank. The VGM Score rates each stock on their shared weighted styles, narrowing down the companies with the most attractive value, best growth forecast, and most promising momentum.

The direction of a stock's earnings estimate revisions should always be a key factor when choosing which stocks to buy, since the Scores were created to work together with the Zacks Rank.

Three analysts revised their earnings estimate higher in the last 60 days for fiscal 2026, while the Zacks Consensus Estimate has increased $0.00 to $8.56 per share. EFX also boasts an average earnings surprise of +5%.

Wall Street Analysts Believe TE Connectivity (TEL) Could Rally 26.98%: Here's is How to Trade
TEL TE Connectivity
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Shares of TE Connectivity (TEL - Free Report) have gained 0.9% over the past four weeks to close the last trading session at $200.28, but there could still be a solid upside left in the stock if short-term price targets of Wall Street analysts are any indication. Going by the price targets, the mean estimate of $254.32 indicates a potential upside of 27%.

The mean estimate comprises 19 short-term price targets with a standard deviation of $28.56. While the lowest estimate of $206.00 indicates a 2.9% increase from the current price level, the most optimistic analyst expects the stock to surge 49.8% to reach $300.00. It's very important to note the standard deviation here, as it helps understand the variability of the estimates. The smaller the standard deviation, the greater the agreement among analysts.

While the consensus price target is highly sought after by investors, the ability and unbiasedness of analysts in setting price targets have long been questionable. And investors making investment decisions solely based on this tool would arguably do themselves a disservice.

However, an impressive consensus price target is not the only factor that indicates a potential upside in TEL. This view is strengthened by the agreement among analysts that the company will report better earnings than what they estimated earlier. Though a positive trend in earnings estimate revisions doesn't give any idea as to how much the stock could surge, it has proven effective in predicting an upside.

Price, Consensus and EPS Surprise

Here's What You May Not Know About Analysts' Price TargetsAccording to researchers at several universities across the globe, a price target is one of many pieces of information about a stock that misleads investors far more often than it guides. In fact, empirical research shows that price targets set by several analysts, irrespective of the extent of agreement, rarely indicate where the price of a stock could actually be heading.

While Wall Street analysts have deep knowledge of a company's fundamentals and the sensitivity of its business to economic and industry issues, many of them tend to set overly optimistic price targets. Are you wondering why?

They usually do that to drum up interest in shares of companies that their firms either have existing business relationships with or are looking to be associated with. In other words, business incentives of firms covering a stock often result in inflated price targets set by analysts.

However, a tight clustering of price targets, which is represented by a low standard deviation, indicates that analysts have a high degree of agreement about the direction and magnitude of a stock's price movement. While that doesn't necessarily mean the stock will hit the average price target, it could be a good starting point for further research aimed at identifying the potential fundamental driving forces.

That said, while investors should not entirely ignore price targets, making an investment decision solely based on them could lead to disappointing ROI. So, price targets should always be treated with a high degree of skepticism.

Here's Why There Could be Plenty of Upside Left in TELAnalysts' growing optimism over the company's earnings prospects, as indicated by strong agreement among them in revising EPS estimates higher, could be a legitimate reason to expect an upside in the stock. That's because empirical research shows a strong correlation between trends in earnings estimate revisions and near-term stock price movements.

For the current year, one estimate has moved higher over the last 30 days compared to no negative revision. As a result, the Zacks Consensus Estimate has increased 0.1%.

Moreover, TEL currently has a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy), which means it is in the top 20% of more than 4,000 stocks that we rank based on four factors related to earnings estimates. Given an impressive externally-audited track record, this is a more conclusive indication of the stock's potential upside in the near term. You can see the complete list of today's Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy) stocks here >>>> .

Therefore, while the consensus price target may not be a reliable indicator of how much TEL could gain, the direction of price movement it implies does appear to be a good guide.

Eastman Chemical (EMN) Reports Next Week: Wall Street Expects Earnings Growth
EMN Eastman Chemical Company
FMP Stock News
Original source text
The market expects Eastman Chemical (EMN - Free Report) to deliver a year-over-year increase in earnings on higher revenues when it reports results for the quarter ended June 2026. This widely-known consensus outlook is important in assessing the company's earnings picture, but a powerful factor that might influence its near-term stock price is how the actual results compare to these estimates.

Zacks Consensus EstimateThis specialty chemicals maker is expected to post quarterly earnings of $1.80 per share in its upcoming report, which represents a year-over-year change of +12.5%.

Revenues are expected to be $2.37 billion, up 3.5% from the year-ago quarter.

Estimate Revisions TrendThe consensus EPS estimate for the quarter has been revised 3.47% lower over the last 30 days to the current level.

How Have the Numbers Shaped Up for Eastman Chemical? For Eastman Chemical, the Most Accurate Estimate is higher than the Zacks Consensus Estimate, suggesting that analysts have recently become bullish on the company's earnings prospects. This has resulted in an Earnings ESP of +0.93%.

On the other hand, the stock currently carries a Zacks Rank of #4.

So, this combination makes it difficult to conclusively predict that Eastman Chemical will beat the consensus EPS estimate.

Does Earnings Surprise History Hold Any Clue? While calculating estimates for a company's future earnings, analysts often consider to what extent it has been able to match past consensus estimates. So, it's worth taking a look at the surprise history for gauging its influence on the upcoming number.

For the last reported quarter, it was expected that Eastman Chemical would post earnings of $1.07 per share when it actually produced earnings of $1.09, delivering a surprise of +1.87%.

Over the last four quarters, the company has beaten consensus EPS estimates just once.

Eastman Chemical doesn't appear a compelling earnings-beat candidate. However, investors should pay attention to other factors too for betting on this stock or staying away from it ahead of its earnings release.

Stay on top of upcoming earnings announcements with the Zacks Earnings Calendar.

Here is What to Know Beyond Why Twilio Inc. (TWLO) is a Trending Stock
TWLO Twilio
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Twilio (TWLO - Free Report) is one of the stocks most watched by Zacks.com visitors lately. So, it might be a good idea to review some of the factors that might affect the near-term performance of the stock.

Over the past month, shares of this company have returned -2.6%, compared to the Zacks S&P 500 composite's +0.4% change. During this period, the Zacks Internet - Software industry, which Twilio falls in, has gained 7.3%. The key question now is: What could be the stock's future direction?

Although media reports or rumors about a significant change in a company's business prospects usually cause its stock to trend and lead to an immediate price change, there are always certain fundamental factors that ultimately drive the buy-and-hold decision.

Revisions to Earnings EstimatesHere at Zacks, we prioritize appraising the change in the projection of a company's future earnings over anything else. That's because we believe the present value of its future stream of earnings is what determines the fair value for its stock.

We essentially look at how sell-side analysts covering the stock are revising their earnings estimates to reflect the impact of the latest business trends. And if earnings estimates go up for a company, the fair value for its stock goes up. A higher fair value than the current market price drives investors' interest in buying the stock, leading to its price moving higher. This is why empirical research shows a strong correlation between trends in earnings estimate revisions and near-term stock price movements.

For the current quarter, Twilio is expected to post earnings of $1.32 per share, indicating a change of +10.9% from the year-ago quarter. The Zacks Consensus Estimate has changed -1.5% over the last 30 days.

For the current fiscal year, the consensus earnings estimate of $5.64 points to a change of +15.3% from the prior year. Over the last 30 days, this estimate has changed -0.8%.

For the next fiscal year, the consensus earnings estimate of $6.53 indicates a change of +15.8% from what Twilio is expected to report a year ago. Over the past month, the estimate has changed -0.5%.

Having a strong externally audited track record, our proprietary stock rating tool, the Zacks Rank, offers a more conclusive picture of a stock's price direction in the near term, since it effectively harnesses the power of earnings estimate revisions. Due to the size of the recent change in the consensus estimate, along with three other factors related to earnings estimates, Twilio is rated Zacks Rank #2 (Buy).

The chart below shows the evolution of the company's forward 12-month consensus EPS estimate:

12 Month EPS

Projected Revenue GrowthEven though a company's earnings growth is arguably the best indicator of its financial health, nothing much happens if it cannot raise its revenues. It's almost impossible for a company to grow its earnings without growing its revenue for long periods. Therefore, knowing a company's potential revenue growth is crucial.

In the case of Twilio, the consensus sales estimate of $1.42 billion for the current quarter points to a year-over-year change of +15.8%. The $5.81 billion and $6.36 billion estimates for the current and next fiscal years indicate changes of +14.6% and +9.6%, respectively.

Last Reported Results and Surprise HistoryTwilio reported revenues of $1.41 billion in the last reported quarter, representing a year-over-year change of +20%. EPS of $1.5 for the same period compares with $1.14 a year ago.

Compared to the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.34 billion, the reported revenues represent a surprise of +4.93%. The EPS surprise was +18.11%.

The company beat consensus EPS estimates in each of the trailing four quarters. The company topped consensus revenue estimates each time over this period.

ValuationWithout considering a stock's valuation, no investment decision can be efficient. In predicting a stock's future price performance, it's crucial to determine whether its current price correctly reflects the intrinsic value of the underlying business and the company's growth prospects.

Comparing the current value of a company's valuation multiples, such as its price-to-earnings (P/E), price-to-sales (P/S), and price-to-cash flow (P/CF), to its own historical values helps ascertain whether its stock is fairly valued, overvalued, or undervalued, whereas comparing the company relative to its peers on these parameters gives a good sense of how reasonable its stock price is.

The Zacks Value Style Score (part of the Zacks Style Scores system), which pays close attention to both traditional and unconventional valuation metrics to grade stocks from A to F (an A is better than a B; a B is better than a C; and so on), is pretty helpful in identifying whether a stock is overvalued, rightly valued, or temporarily undervalued.

Twilio is graded F on this front, indicating that it is trading at a premium to its peers. Click here to see the values of some of the valuation metrics that have driven this grade.

ConclusionThe facts discussed here and much other information on Zacks.com might help determine whether or not it's worthwhile paying attention to the market buzz about Twilio. However, its Zacks Rank #2 does suggest that it may outperform the broader market in the near term.

Budování AI železnic?
AMZN Amazon FB Meta Platforms GOOGL Alphabet GS Goldman Sachs
Patria Stock News
Original source text

A řadou kombinací těchto dvou možností.

Tedy návratnosti toho, co hypercaleři nakupují a budují.

Wall Street Analysts Predict a 93.63% Upside in Archer Aviation (ACHR): Here's What You Should Know
ACHR Archer Aviation
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Archer Aviation Inc. (ACHR - Free Report) closed the last trading session at $5.18, gaining 2.6% over the past four weeks, but there could be plenty of upside left in the stock if short-term price targets set by Wall Street analysts are any guide. The mean price target of $10.03 indicates a 93.6% upside potential.

The mean estimate comprises 10 short-term price targets with a standard deviation of $4. While the lowest estimate of $4.50 indicates a 13.1% decline from the current price level, the most optimistic analyst expects the stock to surge 247.5% to reach $18.00.

However, an impressive consensus price target is not the only factor that indicates a potential upside in ACHR.

Why ACHR Could Witness a Solid UpsideAnalysts' growing optimism over the company's earnings prospects, as indicated by strong agreement among them in revising EPS estimates higher, could be a legitimate reason to expect an upside in the stock. That's because empirical research shows a strong correlation between trends in earnings estimate revisions and near-term stock price movements.

For the current year, one estimate has moved higher over the last 30 days compared to no negative revision. As a result, the Zacks Consensus Estimate has increased 5.2%.

Moreover, ACHR currently has a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy), which means it is in the top 20% of more than 4,000 stocks that we rank based on four factors related to earnings estimates. Given an impressive externally-audited track record, this is a more conclusive indication of the stock's potential upside in the near term. You can see the complete list of today's Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy) stocks here >>>> .

Therefore, while the consensus price target may not be a reliable indicator of how much ACHR could gain, the direction of price movement it implies does appear to be a good guide.

What's Next for Quest Diagnostics? While Quest Diagnostics has outperformed the market so far this year, the question that comes to investors' minds is: what's next for the stock?

Empirical research shows a strong correlation between near-term stock movements and trends in earnings estimate revisions. Investors can track such revisions by themselves or rely on a tried-and-tested rating tool like the Zacks Rank, which has an impressive track record of harnessing the power of earnings estimate revisions.
