Centene: Further Upside Will Require Better Execution
CNC Centene
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Centene rebounded in Q1-2026 with a significant improvement in its health benefits ratio, dropping to 87.3% from 94.3% in Q4-2025. CNC's Medicaid HBR improvement was driven by rate increases, medical cost management, and a mild flu season, though management remains cautious on sustainability. Despite a strong Q1-2026 beat, CNC raised full-year guidance less than the quarterly outperformance, reflecting uncertainty about trend continuation.

Here's Why Centene (CNC) is a Strong Momentum Stock
CNC Centene
FMP Stock News
Original source text
It doesn't matter your age or experience: taking full advantage of the stock market and investing with confidence are common goals for all investors. Luckily, Zacks Premium offers several different ways to do both.

The popular research service can help you become a smarter, more self-assured investor, giving you access to daily updates of the Zacks Rank and Zacks Industry Rank, the Zacks #1 Rank List, Equity Research reports, and Premium stock screens.

Zacks Premium includes access to the Zacks Style Scores as well.

What are the Zacks Style Scores? The Zacks Style Scores, developed alongside the Zacks Rank, are complementary indicators that rate stocks based on three widely-followed investing methodologies; they also help investors pick stocks with the best chances of beating the market over the next 30 days.

Based on their value, growth, and momentum characteristics, each stock is assigned a rating of A, B, C, D, or F. The better the score, the better chance the stock will outperform; an A is better than a B, a B is better than a C, and so on.

The Style Scores are broken down into four categories:

Value ScoreValue investors love finding good stocks at good prices, especially before the broader market catches on to a stock's true value. Utilizing ratios like P/E, PEG, Price/Sales, Price/Cash Flow, and many other multiples, the Value Style Score identifies the most attractive and most discounted stocks.

Growth ScoreGrowth investors, on the other hand, are more concerned with a company's financial strength and health, and its future outlook. The Growth Style Score examines things like projected and historic earnings, sales, and cash flow to find stocks that will experience sustainable growth over time.

Momentum ScoreMomentum trading is all about taking advantage of upward or downward trends in a stock's price or earnings outlook, and these investors live by the saying "the trend is your friend." The Momentum Style Score can pinpoint good times to build a position in a stock, using factors like one-week price change and the monthly percentage change in earnings estimates.

VGM ScoreIf you like to use all three kinds of investing, then the VGM Score is for you. It's a combination of all Style Scores, and is an important indicator to use with the Zacks Rank. The VGM Score rates each stock on their shared weighted styles, narrowing down the companies with the most attractive value, best growth forecast, and most promising momentum.

How Style Scores Work with the Zacks Rank The Zacks Rank is a proprietary stock-rating model that harnesses the power of earnings estimate revisions, or changes to a company's earnings expectations, to help investors build a successful portfolio.

#1 (Strong Buy) stocks have produced an unmatched +23.93% average annual return since 1988, which is more than double the S&P 500's performance over the same time frame. However, the Zacks Rank examines a ton of stocks, and there can be more than 200 companies with a Strong Buy rank, and another 600 with a #2 (Buy) rank, on any given day.

With more than 800 top-rated stocks to choose from, it can certainly feel overwhelming to pick the ones that are right for you and your investing journey.

That's where the Style Scores come in.

To have the best chance of big returns, you'll want to always consider stocks with a Zacks Rank #1 or #2 that also have Style Scores of A or B, which will give you the highest probability of success. If you're looking at stocks with a #3 (Hold) rank, it's important they have Scores of A or B as well to ensure as much upside potential as possible.

As mentioned above, the Scores are designed to work with the Zacks Rank, so any change to a company's earnings outlook should be a deciding factor when picking which stocks to buy.

A stock with a #4 (Sell) or #5 (Strong Sell) rating, for instance, even one with Scores of A and B, will still have a declining earnings forecast, and a greater chance its share price will fall too.

Thus, the more stocks you own with a #1 or #2 Rank and Scores of A or B, the better.

Stock to Watch: Centene (CNC - Free Report) Centene Corporation is a well-diversified healthcare company that primarily provides a set of services to the government sponsored healthcare programs. The company serves the under-insured and uninsured individuals through member-focused services. It is also engaged in providing education and outreach programs to inform and assist members in accessing quality, appropriate healthcare services.

CNC is a #3 (Hold) on the Zacks Rank, with a VGM Score of A.

Momentum investors should take note of this Medical stock. CNC has a Momentum Style Score of B, and shares are up 51.3% over the past four weeks.

Eight analysts revised their earnings estimate upwards in the last 60 days for fiscal 2026. The Zacks Consensus Estimate has increased $0.46 to $3.42 per share. CNC boasts an average earnings surprise of +74.9%.

With a solid Zacks Rank and top-tier Momentum and VGM Style Scores, CNC should be on investors' short list.

The VGM Score rates each stock on their shared weighted styles, narrowing down the companies with the most attractive value, best growth forecast, and most promising momentum.

How Style Scores Work with the Zacks Rank The Zacks Rank, which is a proprietary stock-rating model, employs earnings estimate revisions, or changes to a company's earnings expectations, to make building a winning portfolio easier.

Investors can count on the Zacks Rank's success, with #1 (Strong Buy) stocks producing an unmatched +23.7% average annual return since 1988, more than double the S&P 500's performance. But the model rates a large number of stocks, and there are over 200 companies with a Strong Buy rank, plus another 600 with a #2 (Buy) rank, on any given day.

But it can feel overwhelming to pick the right stocks for you and your investing goals with over 800 top-rated stocks to choose from.

If you find yourself looking at stocks with a #3 (Hold) rank, make sure they have Scores of A or B as well to ensure as much upside potential as possible.

Since the Scores were created to work together with the Zacks Rank, the direction of a stock's earnings estimate revisions should be a key factor when choosing which stocks to buy.

Here's an example: a stock with a #4 (Sell) or #5 (Strong Sell) rating, even one with Style Scores of A and B, still has a downward-trending earnings outlook, and a bigger chance its share price will decrease too.

It is also engaged in providing education and outreach programs to inform and assist members in accessing quality, appropriate healthcare services.

CNC is a #1 (Strong Buy) on the Zacks Rank, with a VGM Score of A.

It also boasts a Value Style Score of B thanks to attractive valuation metrics like a forward P/E ratio of 16.51; value investors should take notice.

Nine analysts revised their earnings estimate higher in the last 60 days for fiscal 2026, while the Zacks Consensus Estimate has increased $0.46 to $3.47 per share. CNC also boasts an average earnings surprise of +74.9%.

With a solid Zacks Rank and top-tier Value and VGM Style Scores, CNC should be on investors' short list.

, /PRNewswire/ -- Health Net, one of California's most experienced Medi-Cal managed care health plans and company of Centene Corporation (NYSE: CNC, today announced a $10 million investment in Encompass Housing and National Health Care and Housing Advisors to support the expansion of the Community Care Campus Long Beach. The facility is a comprehensive, integrated care campus designed to improve health outcomes and accelerate pathways to stable housing for individuals experiencing homelessness.

The $10 million investment includes:

NHHA logo

Encompass logo $5 million from the Centene Foundation for major facility modernization $5 million from Health Net to support tenant improvements and the launch of new CalAIM-aligned care programs, including a dedicated Children & Families Recuperative Care program serving Medi-Cal members. "This investment underscores our commitment to strengthening the connection between health care and housing—because stability is foundational to health," said Dorothy M. Seleski, Medi-Cal Plan President at Health Net. "Together with National Health Care and Housing Advisors, and Encompass Housing we're supporting a community-based model that not only meets people where they are but also expands access to CalAIM services and family-centered recuperative care, helping individuals and families in Long Beach move toward long-term stability."

Health Net's $5 million investment will fund critical tenant improvements and compliance activities needed to launch new services at the Community Care Campus. This includes the demolition and renovation of approximately 5,000 square feet of the campus to enhance the Children & Families Recuperative Care program. Other improvements include electrical, elevator, fire safety and accessibility upgrades required for CalAIM programs and urgent medical services.

"In Long Beach we know that housing and health go hand-in-hand, which is why we're committed to thoughtful, community-based solutions that bring health care, housing, and supportive services together in one place," said Long Beach Mayor Rex Richardson. "The expansion of the Community Care Campus strengthens our ability to meet people where they are and connect residents to the care and stability they need to move forward."

The Community Care Campus will leverage reimbursements from Medi-Cal and Medicare managed care plans, hospital health systems and contracts with Los Angeles County agencies, including the Department of Public Health and Department of Mental Health. This blended funding model ensures year-round community services and continuity of care.

When fully operational, the expanded campus is expected to serve thousands of people each year—offering timely medical care, recuperative services and coordinated support so individuals and families can get help earlier, stay healthier and avoid reaching a crisis point.

"Investing in the Long Beach Community Care Campus demonstrates our commitment to providing real solutions for our neighbors experiencing homelessness," said Senator Lena Gonzalez (D-Long Beach). "This project will help ensure everyone in our community has access to the care, support, and pathways to stable housing they deserve."

Encompass Housing will continue to track outcomes related to housing stability, health equity and healthcare utilization, with biannual reporting and ongoing quality improvement to ensure accountability and continuous learning.

"This transformative grant enables us to expand and modernize the Community Care Campus, ensuring we can offer integrated medical care, behavioral health, and housing services to thousands of individuals experiencing homelessness," said Deby Wolford, CEO of Encompass Housing. "Our partnership with Health Net and the Centene Foundation is helping create a sustainable, community-based model that improves lives and builds a healthier, more stable Long Beach for all."

"The Community Care Campus reflects what's possible when health care and housing are intentionally brought together to serve people with complex needs," said Paul Leon, CEO of National Healthcare and Housing Advisors. "We're building a model that connects clinical care with stable housing solutions—helping individuals both recover and move forward with greater stability and support."

The renovation will follow a phased construction schedule to ensure uninterrupted delivery of existing programs. Design and planning began in May 2025, with construction expected to be completed by September 2027. Improvements will include accessibility upgrades, elevator maintenance, modernized mechanical and electrical systems, enhanced technology infrastructure, and safety enhancements throughout the campus.

From 2020 to 2025, Health Net committed more than $247 million in funding to community-based organizations.

Fluor (FLR - Free Report) came out with quarterly earnings of $0.14 per share, missing the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $0.66 per share. This compares to earnings of $0.73 per share a year ago. These figures are adjusted for non-recurring items.

This quarterly report represents an earnings surprise of -78.63%. A quarter ago, it was expected that this engineering, construction and operations company would post earnings of $0.34 per share when it actually produced earnings of $0.33, delivering a surprise of -2.94%.

Over the last four quarters, the company has surpassed consensus EPS estimates just once.

Fluor, which belongs to the Zacks Engineering - R and D Services industry, posted revenues of $3.66 billion for the quarter ended March 2026, missing the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 3.63%. This compares to year-ago revenues of $3.98 billion. The company has not been able to beat consensus revenue estimates over the last four quarters.

The sustainability of the stock's immediate price movement based on the recently-released numbers and future earnings expectations will mostly depend on management's commentary on the earnings call.

Fluor shares have added about 28.9% since the beginning of the year versus the S&P 500's gain of 7.2%.

What's Next for Fluor? While Fluor has outperformed the market so far this year, the question that comes to investors' minds is: what's next for the stock?

There are no easy answers to this key question, but one reliable measure that can help investors address this is the company's earnings outlook. Not only does this include current consensus earnings expectations for the coming quarter(s), but also how these expectations have changed lately.

Empirical research shows a strong correlation between near-term stock movements and trends in earnings estimate revisions. Investors can track such revisions by themselves or rely on a tried-and-tested rating tool like the Zacks Rank, which has an impressive track record of harnessing the power of earnings estimate revisions.

Ahead of this earnings release, the estimate revisions trend for Fluor was mixed. While the magnitude and direction of estimate revisions could change following the company's just-released earnings report, the current status translates into a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold) for the stock. So, the shares are expected to perform in line with the market in the near future. You can see the complete list of today's Zacks #1 Rank (Strong Buy) stocks here.

It will be interesting to see how estimates for the coming quarters and the current fiscal year change in the days ahead. The current consensus EPS estimate is $0.67 on $3.8 billion in revenues for the coming quarter and $2.75 on $16.03 billion in revenues for the current fiscal year.

Investors should be mindful of the fact that the outlook for the industry can have a material impact on the performance of the stock as well. Fluor Q1 Earnings & Revenues Miss Estimates, Stock Down
FLR Fluor Corporation
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Key Takeaways FLR posted adjusted EPS of $0.14 and revenues of $3.66B, both below consensus.FLR took charges from an Afghanistan court ruling and a fixed-price mining project cost overrun.FLR cash rose to $3.19B on NuScale share-sale proceeds; it repurchased $516M in stock. Fluor Corporation (FLR - Free Report) delivered a weak first quarter of 2026, with adjusted earnings and revenues missing the Zacks Consensus Estimate and declining on a year-over-year basis.

Fluor's first-quarter results were pressured by an adverse legal ruling tied to legacy Afghanistan-related work, which resulted in a meaningful charge during the quarter. The Urban Solutions segment faced a setback as declining field productivity on a mining project in the Americas led to higher expected completion costs and a related charge. Results were further weighed down by higher corporate general and administrative expenses, mainly due to stock-based compensation linked to share price appreciation. Geopolitical uncertainty also slowed development on a major project in Pakistan and remains a risk to supply chains and client capital spending.

However, performance was supported by proceeds from the China fabrication yard sale and the monetization of its remaining stake in NuScale Power. Higher profits in Energy Solutions, driven by favorable project closeouts and improved project selectivity, with stronger margins on new awards, also supported results.

Following the results, shares of FLR declined 15.2% during trading hours on Friday.

Inside Fluor’s Q1 ResultsThe company reported adjusted earnings per share (EPS) of 14 cents, missing the Zacks Consensus Estimate of 66 cents by 78.8%. In the year-ago quarter, it reported an adjusted EPS of 73 cents.

Revenues were $3.66 billion, down 8% year over year and 3.6% shy of the consensus mark of $3.8 billion.

Operationally, results were weighed by a sizeable litigation-related charge and cost growth on a mining project. Still, Fluor ended the quarter with a backlog of $25.7 billion, 82% of which was reimbursable, underscoring its continued bias toward risk-mitigated contracting.

FLR’s Segment Mix Shifts Sharply in Q1Urban Solutions generated revenues of $2.44 billion, up 13% year over year, but segment profit slid to $6 million after a $37 million impact tied to a fixed-price mining project in the Americas.

Urban Solutions posted $2.1 billion of new awards in the quarter, including a metals project in the Middle East, incremental work on a pharmaceutical facility and an infrastructure expansion for a mining facility in Chile. The ending backlog for the segment was $19 billion, representing 74% of the total company backlog.

Energy Solutions’ revenues fell to $0.70 billion from $1.21 billion, reflecting lower activity on projects nearing completion, yet segment profit improved to $74 million from $47 million a year ago on favorable closeout items across three projects.

New awards totaled $213 million in the quarter, including a FEED award for the America First Refinery and a contract with X-energy for Dow’s Seadrift SMR project. The ending backlog was $4.3 billion.

Mission Solutions recorded revenues of $0.52 billion, down 12.4% from the prior-year level. The segment reported a loss of $71 million, primarily due to a $96 million court ruling related to LOGCAP activities in Afghanistan, which management said it plans to appeal.

New awards were $332 million, including a significant FEED services award for the Centrus uranium enrichment plant expansion and a $100 million task order supporting military operations in the Middle East. The ending backlog was $2.5 billion.

Fluor’s Cash Position Improves on NuScale MonetizationFluor ended the quarter with $3.19 billion of cash and cash equivalents, up from $2.43 billion at the end of 2025. Operating cash flow was $110 million, improving from a $286 million outflow a year ago, aided by working-capital reductions on several large projects and distributions from joint ventures.

The cash build was also driven by proceeds from NuScale share sales. Investing cash flow included $1.36 billion of proceeds from the sale of NuScale shares during the quarter. Fluor also returned capital aggressively, repurchasing $516 million of common stock, or 11 million shares, during the period.

FLR Narrows 2026 Targets, Keeps Cash Flow GoalFor 2026, Fluor narrowed its adjusted EBITDA outlook to a range of $525 million to $560 million (prior expectation was $525-$585 million) and guided for adjusted earnings of $2.60 to $2.80 per share. Management maintained its operating cash flow target of roughly $300 million, excluding tax payments tied to the 2025 NuScale conversion.

The company’s framework assumes a book-to-burn above one and corporate G&A expense of $175 million to $185 million, along with an effective tax rate of 26% to 28%. Segment margin expectations call for Urban Solutions at 2.5% to 3.5%, Energy Solutions at 5% to 6% and Mission Solutions at about 6%, reflecting management’s view that backlog quality and selectivity are improving even as near-term execution risks persist.

FLR’s Zacks Rank & Recent Construction ReleasesFluor currently carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold). You can see the complete list of today’s Zacks #1 Rank (Strong Buy) stocks here.

Vulcan Materials Company (VMC - Free Report) posted exceptional first-quarter 2026 results with adjusted earnings and total revenues beating the Zacks Consensus Estimate and increasing year over year. The quarter’s results reflect benefits realized from the aggregates-led business and consistent focus on its strategic disciplines. Besides, efforts to incorporate top-tier innovation and technology advancements also aided the quarter’s financial performance.

Vulcan reiterated its full-year adjusted EBITDA outlook of $2.4-$2.6 billion and cited a healthy backlog supported by large projects and public construction activity.

EMCOR Group, Inc. (EME - Free Report) reported impressive first-quarter 2026 results, with earnings and revenues topping the Zacks Consensus Estimate and increasing year over year on strong demand across its core markets.

EMCOR’s quarterly results reflect continued momentum across key end markets and customers’ confidence in the company’s ability to execute complex and mission-critical projects. Strong activity in sectors like Network and Communications, Institutional, Healthcare, and Water and Wastewater supported growth and drove higher remaining performance obligations (RPOs). EMCOR now expects revenues between $18.50 billion and $19.25 billion, and diluted earnings per share are projected in the range of $28.25 to $29.75.

Comfort Systems USA, Inc. (FIX - Free Report) delivered a sharp first quarter of 2026, with earnings and revenues topping the Zacks Consensus Estimate and increasing year over year. The quarter reflected strong market conditions, led by heavier technology-sector activity, particularly for data centers.

Comfort Systems also highlighted that recent bookings and underlying persistent demand supported a higher backlog even with increased project burn rates, an important indicator that volume remains strong across key end markets. The backlog as of March 31, 2026, totaled $12.45 billion, increasing 4.3% from $11.94 billion on Dec. 31, 2025, and jumping 80.8% from $6.89 billion reported a year ago.

Fluor Corporation faces mounting headwinds after disappointing Q1 results, including an 8% revenue decline and weak adjusted EPS driven by legal and project cost overruns. AI data center construction and onshoring tailwinds are offset by economic slowdown risks, political uncertainty, and local pushback, complicating the near-term outlook. 3 Nuclear Energy Stocks That Are Quietly Becoming the Trades of the Year
FLR Fluor Corporation
FMP Stock News
Original source text
As data centers strain traditional power grids, it sets up an opportunity for nuclear-energy companies. They can provide 24/7 baseload power, and the small modular reactors (SMRs) being developed will offer greater placement flexibility and less location constraint due to their size.

The industry is still being built out, but it's that growth potential that is fueling some of the biggest winners not just in the energy sector but in the broader markets in 2026. Three companies with nuclear-energy ties quietly winning this year are Fluor (FLR +1.28%), Uranium Energy (UEC +5.08%), and Cameco (CCJ +2.12%).

1. The nuclear energy advisor Fluor is an engineering and construction company, with three main business segments: energy solutions (helping the energy industry), mission solutions (helping governments), and urban solutions (helping cities).

Right now, the company's main driving force is energy. In April, Fluor announced that it will provide services to Maryland-based X-Energy, which is developing four SMRs. And in March, Fluor announced a limited notice-to-proceed agreement with TeraWulf for a data-center campus in Kentucky, where it would provide master planning and pre-construction services.

Recently, Fluor's 2026 first-quarter earnings report offered a bit of a mixed bag. Total revenue of $3.6 billion marked a decline of 8%, and its energy solutions division also saw a year-over-year sales decline. It did, however, report increased profitability in that energy solutions business, with revenue rising from $47 million to $74 million. It also has a huge orders backlog of $25.7 billion.

Looking ahead, Fluor has growing opportunities in the nuclear energy sector through SMRs and long-term government contracts. Investors will have to brace for volatility, as the stock has more price swings than the broader markets. But it's quietly performing well in 2026. The shares are up more than 18% this year (as of May 26).

2. Mining and exploring Shifting gears from construction and engineering, let's look at Uranium Energy, which explores for and mines the fuel needed by nuclear reactors. It also launched a subsidiary, U.S. Uranium Refining & Conversion, to review the potential to develop a uranium refining and conversion facility. It's a small world: Uranium Energy is working on a subsidiary with Fluor.

Revenue is still on the smaller side, coming in at $66.8 million in its fiscal 2025, and $20.2 million in its recent fiscal 2026 second quarter (for the period ended Jan.31).

One of the risks and rewards of this company is its unhedged strategy, which doesn't lock it into pre-priced contracts. That's a benefit if prices are high, but it removes a safety net of already having an agreement in hand if uranium prices drop. This company may be a better fit for investors who have experience dealing with commodity price swings and cyclicality.

Still, the stock has performed well, more than doubling during the past year. The returns have been a little more muted this year, with a gain of about 16%, but as the nuclear sector advances, Uranium Energy and its shareholders could benefit from increased demand, which can lead to higher uranium prices.

3. More mining Rounding out our three stocks is Cameco, one of the world's largest uranium fuel providers. It has exploration, mining, refining, conversion, and fabrication businesses, with a focus on long-term contracts. Part of its assets also includes a 49% stake in Westinghouse Electric, a nuclear reactor equipment manufacturer. It has more than 90 facilities and three fuel fabrication facilities across 21 countries.

For the financials, it's off to a strong start this year, reporting revenue of $845 million in Canadian dollars in its 2026 first-quarter earnings report, an increase of 7%. It also reported net earnings attributable to equity holders of CA$131 million, an increase of 87%.

Cameco is a well-established company with a $47 billion market value, so its size and operating history may be a good fit for more risk-averse individuals still seeking nuclear-related investments. The stock is up over 18% on the year, and Cameco will be a key benefactor of a growing nuclear energy market.

CompaniesMay 8 (Reuters) - Molina Healthcare (MOH.N), opens new tab on Friday forecast its 2029 adjusted profit at about five times its 2026 outlook, provided the health insurer can keep medical ‌costs in check.

However, J.P. Morgan and Barclays analysts said the forecast fell short of investor expectations, sending its shares down 5%.

The forecast suggests Molina will "present significant earnings power in 2029; however, we think much of the investor focus is on the path to those earnings and any embedded conservatism," J.P. Morgan analysts said.

Health insurers, including Molina, UnitedHealth (UNH.N), opens new tab and Elevance (ELV.N), opens new tab, reported strong first-quarter results, signaling easing healthcare service costs after more than two years of margin pressure from elevated expenses.

Medical costs for major health insurers were below estimates during the first-quarterMolina projects 2029 premium revenue of about $64 billion, up from around $42 billion it expects in 2026. It sees 2029 adjusted profit between $20 and $30 per share, compared with at least $5 per share in 2026.

A key highlight was Molina's new pre-tax margin goal of around 2% to 3% for 2029 as opposed to about 4% to 5% previously, said Mizuho's ‌Ann Hynes. "While lower ... this goal is achievable for the company."

The profit forecast is a "very solid baseline" if medical cost trends moderate and government reimbursement rates catch up faster, CEO Joe Zubretsky said at the company's investor day, adding that high medical costs will stabilize.

"Maybe it already has, but we have to wait and see in 2026 whether the second- and third-quarter data points support that."

The company said enrollment in government-backed Medicaid plans is expected to decline 2% to 3% annually through 2029, pressured by provisions in U.S. President Donald Trump's One Big Beautiful Bill Act.

Molina primarily sells Medicaid plans to low-income Americans, jointly funded by state and federal governments. It also offers coverage under the Affordable Care Act, commonly known as Obamacare.

Are Investors Undervaluing Molina Healthcare (MOH) Right Now?
MOH Molina Healthcare
FMP Stock News
Original source text
The proven Zacks Rank system focuses on earnings estimates and estimate revisions to find winning stocks. Nevertheless, we know that our readers all have their own perspectives, so we are always looking at the latest trends in value, growth, and momentum to find strong picks.

Of these, value investing is easily one of the most popular ways to find great stocks in any market environment. Value investors use tried-and-true metrics and fundamental analysis to find companies that they believe are undervalued at their current share price levels.

In addition to the Zacks Rank, investors looking for stocks with specific traits can utilize our Style Scores system. Of course, value investors will be most interested in the system's "Value" category. Stocks with "A" grades for Value and high Zacks Ranks are among the best value stocks available at any given moment.

Molina Healthcare (MOH - Free Report) is a stock many investors are watching right now. MOH is currently sporting a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy), as well as an A grade for Value. The stock is trading with P/E ratio of 9.08 right now. For comparison, its industry sports an average P/E of 16.80. Over the past year, MOH's Forward P/E has been as high as 13.98 and as low as 6.48, with a median of 11.46.

Another valuation metric that we should highlight is MOH's P/B ratio of 2.06. The P/B ratio is used to compare a stock's market value with its book value, which is defined as total assets minus total liabilities. MOH's current P/B looks attractive when compared to its industry's average P/B of 2.46. Over the past year, MOH's P/B has been as high as 4.44 and as low as 1.79, with a median of 3.71.

Value investors also use the P/S ratio. The P/S ratio is calculated as price divided by sales. Some people prefer this metric because sales are harder to manipulate on an income statement. This means it could be a truer performance indicator. MOH has a P/S ratio of 0.21. This compares to its industry's average P/S of 0.28.

Finally, our model also underscores that MOH has a P/CF ratio of 7.07. This metric takes into account a company's operating cash flow and can be used to find stocks that are undervalued based on their solid cash outlook. This stock's P/CF looks attractive against its industry's average P/CF of 19.57. Within the past 12 months, MOH's P/CF has been as high as 16.68 and as low as 6.15, with a median of 12.60.

These are just a handful of the figures considered in Molina Healthcare's great Value grade. Still, they help show that the stock is likely being undervalued at the moment. Add this to the strength of its earnings outlook, and we can clearly see that MOH is an impressive value stock right now.

Michael Burry's Latest Buys Include a 6.66% Yielding Pharma Giant and an Oil Stock Up 46% This Year. Here Is Why
MOH Molina Healthcare
FMP Stock News

Pfizer (NYSE:PFE | PFE Price Prediction) at $25.75, Molina Healthcare (NYSE:MOH) at $186.80, and Halliburton (NYSE:HAL) at $41.29 trade at defensive, cash-generative valuations. Michael Burry purchased these shares for their real earnings and margin stability, and with inflation still pressuring margins across the market, names that generate cash, hold pricing power, and trade at sober multiples carry a structural edge.

Each of these companies sits in a defensive corner of its sector. Pfizer is a low-beta pharma giant lapping the COVID cliff. Molina is a Medicaid-focused managed care operator working through a self-described trough year. Halliburton is an oilfield services leader leveraged to a sharp recovery in crude prices.

Pfizer: A 6.66% Yield and a Forward Multiple That Smells Like a Rebound Pfizer trades at a forward P/E of 9 against a trailing P/E of 20, with the gap reflecting analyst expectations for earnings expansion as the COVID drag fades. The 6.66% dividend yield is rare among large-cap pharma, and the 0.305 beta puts Pfizer among the least volatile names in the S&P 500.

The non-COVID portfolio grew 9% operationally in Q4 2025, and management has flagged roughly 20 pivotal trial starts ahead, including obesity assets from the Metsera acquisition. The analyst target of $29.11 implies meaningful upside from here, and shares are up 25.15% over the past year. Targets are not guarantees, but 11 of 29 covering analysts rate the stock Buy or Strong Buy, with only 3 at Sell or Strong Sell.

Molina Healthcare: Buying the Trough Molina cratered after Q4 2025, when adjusted EPS came in at a $2.75 loss against a $0.50 consensus. CEO Joseph Zubretsky has since framed 2026 as “a trough year for Medicaid industry margins“, with embedded earnings exceeding $11.00 per share targeted for 2027 through 2029 as new contracts mature.

The stock has already rallied 26.64% in the past month as buyers look past the trough. The analyst target sits at $182.25, roughly even with the current price, meaning upside comes from earnings recovery rather than multiple expansion. With a 0.848 beta and exposure to non-discretionary government healthcare spending, Molina is a contrarian inflation hedge.

Halliburton: Cash Flow Riding a Crude Recovery Halliburton’s Q1 2026 print delivered EPS of $0.55 against a $0.50 estimate on revenue of $5.40 billion. WTI crude has climbed from $57.97 in December 2025 to $100.32 in April 2026, a powerful tailwind for oilfield services demand.

Management returned 85% of free cash flow to shareholders in 2025 through $1 billion in buybacks and a steady $0.17 quarterly dividend. CEO Jeff Miller describes North America as in the “early innings of a recovery”. Shares are up 46.83% year to date, and the $42.36 analyst target alongside 19 Buy or Strong Buy ratings versus 3 Sells points to continued institutional conviction.

Why Burry’s Playbook Fits This Tape At $25.75, $186.80, and $41.29, Pfizer, Molina, and Halliburton share a defensive valuation profile. Each name earns its keep through cash flow first. Pfizer’s pipeline plus a near-7% yield pays investors to wait through the patent cliff. Molina’s trough year resets the bar low enough that any rate normalization snaps earnings back hard. Halliburton’s capital return discipline turns a cyclical business into a shareholder yield machine while crude trends higher.

The shared risk is a recession that drags all three down together. The shared edge is a valuation that already discounts the bad news. For investors hedging inflation with durable cash earnings, the Burry basket holds up at these prices.

Here's Why Molina (MOH) Could be Great Choice for a Bottom Fisher
MOH Molina Healthcare
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Shares of Molina (MOH - Free Report) have been struggling lately and have lost 5.5% over the past two weeks. However, a hammer chart pattern was formed in its last trading session, which could mean that the stock found support with bulls being able to counteract the bears. So, it could witness a trend reversal down the road.

While the formation of a hammer pattern is a technical indication of nearing a bottom with potential exhaustion of selling pressure, rising optimism among Wall Street analysts about the future earnings of this provider of Medicaid-related services is a solid fundamental factor that enhances the prospects of a trend reversal for the stock.

What is a Hammer Chart and How to Trade It?This is one of the popular price patterns in candlestick charting. A minor difference between the opening and closing prices forms a small candle body, and a higher difference between the low of the day and the open or close forms a long lower wick (or vertical line). The length of the lower wick being at least twice the length of the real body, the candle resembles a 'hammer.'

In simple terms, during a downtrend, with bears having absolute control, a stock usually opens lower compared to the previous day's close, and again closes lower. On the day the hammer pattern is formed, maintaining the downtrend, the stock makes a new low. However, after eventually finding support at the low of the day, some amount of buying interest emerges, pushing the stock up to close the session near or slightly above its opening price.

When it occurs at the bottom of a downtrend, this pattern signals that the bears might have lost control over the price. And, the success of bulls in stopping the price from falling further indicates a potential trend reversal.

Hammer candles can occur on any timeframe -- such as one-minute, daily, weekly -- and are utilized by both short-term as well as long-term investors.

Like every technical indicator, the hammer chart pattern has its limitations. Particularly, as the strength of a hammer depends on its placement on the chart, it should always be used in conjunction with other bullish indicators.

Here's What Increases the Odds of a Turnaround for MOHThere has been an upward trend in earnings estimate revisions for MOH lately, which can certainly be considered a bullish indicator on the fundamental side. That's because a positive trend in earnings estimate revisions usually translates into price appreciation in the near term.

The consensus EPS estimate for the current year has increased 3.8% over the last 30 days. This means that the Wall Street analysts covering MOH are majorly in agreement about the company's potential to report better earnings than what they predicted earlier.

If this is not enough, you should note that MOH currently has a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy), which means it is in the top 20% of more than 4,000 stocks that we rank based on trends in earnings estimate revisions and EPS surprises. And stocks carrying a Zacks Rank #1 or 2 usually outperform the market. You can see the complete list of today's Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy) stocks here >>>> .

Moreover, a Zacks Rank of 2 for Molina is a more conclusive indication of a potential trend reversal, as the Zacks Rank has proven to be an excellent timing indicator that helps investors identify precisely when a company's prospects are beginning to improve.

Is MOH Overvalued or Undervalued? Molina Healthcare Inc MOH is currently trading at $176.20, significantly below its GF Value™ of $402.13. However, while the undervaluation presents an opportunity, it is crucial to consider the broader market environment and the company's financial health, as reflected in its recent stock performance and insider activity. Molina Healthcare, Inc Price, Consensus and EPS Surprise

Molina Healthcare, Inc price-consensus-eps-surprise-chart | Molina Healthcare, Inc Quote

MOH’s Growth DriversMOH has steadily expanded its market presence through strategic acquisitions across Medicaid, Medicare and long-term care programs, strengthening its geographic footprint and broadening its service capabilities. The company also maintains solid financial flexibility for future expansion, with no borrowings under its $1.25 billion revolving credit facility and access to up to $800 million in incremental term-loan capacity. Further, its return on invested capital (ROIC) of 7% compares with the industry average of 5.5%, highlighting disciplined capital deployment and efficient integration of acquired businesses.

Molina Healthcare’s premium revenues declined 4.3% year over year to $10.2 billion in the first quarter of 2026 due to lower Medicaid and Marketplace membership. However, the company reaffirmed its full-year 2026 premium revenue guidance of nearly $42 billion, reflecting management’s confidence in the stability of its core business.

Expense discipline remains a key strength for Molina Healthcare, with the adjusted G&A ratio improving 50 basis points in 2024 and another 20 basis points in 2025. Although the adjusted G&A ratio increased to 6.9% in first-quarter 2026 from 6.3% a year ago, management still expects the full-year ratio to remain around 6.4% reflecting ongoing scalability initiatives.

Molina Healthcare exited first-quarter 2026 with a strong balance sheet. As of March 31, 2026, it held $5.3 billion in cash and cash equivalents against long-term debt of $3.8 billion. Operating cash flow surged to $1.1 billion from $190 million in the prior-year quarter, reflecting solid cash generation. Its healthy liquidity profile provides flexibility to support contractual capital needs, invest in growth opportunities and navigate industry volatility.

Risks to ConsiderThere are a few factors investors should monitor closely.

Molina Healthcare continues to face pressure from elevated medical costs, with its consolidated MCR rising to 91.1% in first-quarter 2026 from 89.2% a year ago. Management also expects Medicaid and Marketplace MCRs to remain elevated through 2026, which could weigh on margin recovery.

MOH trades at a premium valuation, with a forward P/E of 26.83X compared with the industry average of 17.09X and its five-year median of 14.69X. The stretched valuation may limit upside potential if earnings growth remains under pressure.

Should Value Investors Buy Molina Healthcare (MOH) Stock?
MOH Molina Healthcare
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Here at Zacks, we focus on our proven ranking system, which places an emphasis on earnings estimates and estimate revisions, to find winning stocks. But we also understand that investors develop their own strategies, so we are constantly looking at the latest trends in value, growth, and momentum to find strong companies for our readers.

Of these, value investing is easily one of the most popular ways to find great stocks in any market environment. Value investors rely on traditional forms of analysis on key valuation metrics to find stocks that they believe are undervalued, leaving room for profits.

On top of the Zacks Rank, investors can also look at our innovative Style Scores system to find stocks with specific traits. For example, value investors will want to focus on the "Value" category. Stocks with high Zacks Ranks and "A" grades for Value will be some of the highest-quality value stocks on the market today.

One company value investors might notice is Molina Healthcare (MOH - Free Report) . MOH is currently sporting a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy), as well as a Value grade of A. The stock is trading with P/E ratio of 9.08 right now. For comparison, its industry sports an average P/E of 16.61. Over the last 12 months, MOH's Forward P/E has been as high as 13.98 and as low as 6.48, with a median of 11.46.

Another notable valuation metric for MOH is its P/B ratio of 2.06. The P/B ratio is used to compare a stock's market value with its book value, which is defined as total assets minus total liabilities. This company's current P/B looks solid when compared to its industry's average P/B of 2.45. MOH's P/B has been as high as 4.44 and as low as 1.79, with a median of 3.71, over the past year.

Value investors also frequently use the P/S ratio. This metric is found by dividing a stock's price with the company's revenue. Some people prefer this metric because sales are harder to manipulate on an income statement. This means it could be a truer performance indicator. MOH has a P/S ratio of 0.21. This compares to its industry's average P/S of 0.27.

Finally, investors will want to recognize that MOH has a P/CF ratio of 7.07. This metric takes into account a company's operating cash flow and can be used to find stocks that are undervalued based on their solid cash outlook. MOH's current P/CF looks attractive when compared to its industry's average P/CF of 19.51. Within the past 12 months, MOH's P/CF has been as high as 16.68 and as low as 6.15, with a median of 12.60.

Value investors will likely look at more than just these metrics, but the above data helps show that Molina Healthcare is likely undervalued currently. And when considering the strength of its earnings outlook, MOH sticks out as one of the market's strongest value stocks.

Why Molina Healthcare Stock Cruised to a Nearly 10% Gain This Week
MOH Molina Healthcare
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Molina Healthcare (MOH +3.68%) had a good week, at least as far as its stock was concerned. Over the past five trading days, according to data compiled by S&P Global Market Intelligence, the shares raced almost 10% higher, thanks in no small part to a rotation into defensive stocks.

Tech aversion Late in the week, tech stocks in particular crashed fairly hard. Many had jumped higher in recent months because of excitement around the expansion of artificial intelligence (AI). However, no rally lasts forever, and such titles began to take hits on Thursday.

The following day, following a far better-than-expected jobs report, investors began to worry that such data increases the chances of interest rate hikes by the Federal Reserve. Higher rates (or the fear of them) tend to drive up bond yields, making such assets more attractive to investors while dampening enthusiasm for riskier plays like tech stocks.

As an insurer and managed care organization (MCO), Molina operates a solid business that is to some extent insulated from economic shocks. It also habitually posts top-line growth and net profits. So for some investors, it's a kind of safe haven in times when the economy starts to seem wobbly.

Some consider it a safe haven I'm not as worried as some about the near future of risky plays like tech stocks. Nevertheless, Molina is a good choice for those who feel otherwise, particularly since it's a veteran operator that is very effective at both its main businesses. I'd say that makes it a buy these days.
