IntraGel secures up to $7 million equity investment from UroGen® to advance the Phase 2 clinical study of TumoCure, for the treatment of advanced head and neck cancer UroGen gains access to IntraGel's biodegradable sustained-release gel platform with broad potential across solid tumors, as well as an exclusive option to acquire worldwide rights to TumoCure , /PRNewswire/ -- IntraGel Therapeutics, developer of next generation long-acting injectables, today announced an equity investment agreement and a strategic Option and Research License Agreement (the Option Agreement) with UroGen Pharma Ltd. (Nasdaq: URGN), a biotechnology company dedicated to developing and commercializing innovative solutions that treat urothelial and specialty cancers.

In a related equity investment agreement, UroGen will invest up to $7 million in the equity securities of IntraGel, which will support the Phase 2 clinical development of TumoCure, IntraGel's investigational therapy for advanced head and neck cancer. Under the related Option Agreement, UroGen receives an exclusive option to obtain an exclusive, worldwide license to develop and commercialize TumoCure following IntraGel's completion of a Phase 2 clinical study. In addition, UroGen gains access to IntraGel's proprietary SRGel™ platform, a biodegradable sustained-release formulation technology designed for localized drug delivery, through a research license and options to obtain an exclusive, worldwide license to develop and commercialize up to three additional oncology products combining the SRGel platform with compounds to be designated by UroGen.

"UroGen's leadership in localized oncology therapies and commercial-stage experience make them an ideal collaborator to help advance the SRGel platform and accelerate the development of TumoCure," said Peter Siman, Ph.D., Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder, IntraGel Therapeutics. "We see this collaboration as an important validation of our SRGel platform and the clinical potential of our lead investigational product, TumoCure, while creating a strong pathway to accelerate development across multiple oncology indications."

"This agreement represent an important step in expanding UroGen's oncology pipeline and our technological capabilities," said Liz Barrett, President and Chief Executive Officer of UroGen Pharma. "IntraGel's biodegradable, sustained-release technology complements our expertise in local drug delivery while creating significant optionality for future innovation. Beyond the opportunity to advance TumoCure, we believe the SRGel platform could potentially enable multiple therapeutic approaches across a range of solid tumors and provide a foundation for new product opportunities over time."

Dr. Siman added, "In parallel, we are continuing to advance additional therapeutic candidates in our pipeline based on the broadly applicable SRGel platform including our internally developed IG-003 with GLP-1 analogues for weight management, and monoclonal antibody and peptide programs developed through ongoing collaborations."

SRGel is a biodegradable depot technology designed to enable sustained release of therapeutic agents over extended periods. The platform's flexibility supports multiple therapeutic modalities and indications. In oncology, SRGel has potential applicability across a broad range of solid tumor settings, including bladder, skin, brain, gastrointestinal and testicular cancers, creating opportunities for future localized oncology treatments beyond the initial collaboration programs.

TumoCure is an investigational cisplatin product formulated with IntraGel's proprietary SRGel platform, designed to enable prolonged localized drug exposure while limiting systemic exposure. Presented at the 2026 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Annual Meeting, Phase 1b clinical data demonstrated that TumoCure was generally safe and well tolerated, showed low systemic cisplatin exposure, and provided early indications of anti-tumor activity in a heavily pretreated patient population, including patients with cisplatin treatment-resistant disease1. Investigators also reported improvements in tumor-related symptoms in certain patients. These findings support continued clinical development of TumoCure and further expansion of the SRGel platform as a potential approach for sustained local therapy across additional solid tumors while minimizing systemic exposure.

About SRGel

SRGel is IntraGel's proprietary injectable hydrophobic gel-like drug delivery platform designed to enable sustained, tailored drug release. Built on a proprietary water-free and solvent-free fatty-acids based polymer matrix, SRGel is engineered to provide controlled, and prolonged release of therapeutics agents following a single administration, with applicability for both localized delivery at the target site and sustained systemic exposure. The technology is designed, when injected intratumorally, to maintain high local drug concentrations while minimizing systemic exposure and associated toxicities. SRGel is compatible with a broad range of therapeutic modalities, including small molecules, peptides and biologics, and may be applicable across therapeutic areas and indications, including weight loss management and inflammatory diseases.

About TumoCure

TumoCure is IntraGel's lead product candidate and the first clinical application of the SRGel platform. TumoCure consists of cisplatin incorporated into the SRGel biodegradable matrix and is administered as a single intratumoral injection. The investigational therapy is designed to provide sustained delivery of cisplatin directly within tumor tissue over several months while limiting systemic exposure. TumoCure is Phase 2-ready and is being developed for patients with locally advanced, inoperable head and neck cancers, who are ineligible for systemic cisplatin-based chemoradiation. IntraGel is pursuing development through the U.S. Federal Drug Administration (FDA)'s  505(b)(2) regulatory pathway and believes the technology may have future applicability across additional solid tumor indications, including lung, brain, gastrointestinal, ovarian and testicular cancers.

About IntraGel Therapeutics

IntraGel develops long-acting injectable therapies that can replace daily or weekly dosing with a single administration, or convert large, painful injections into small-volume, highly concentrated doses. SRGel is IntraGel's long-acting injectable platform designed to support safer, more durable treatment options across multiple therapeutic areas and modalities, including small molecules, peptides, and biologics.  IntraGel's lead product candidate based on the SRGel platform, TumoCure, for the treatment of head and neck cancer is Phase 2-ready. In addition, SRGel was shown in both in vivo and in vitro studies to deliver stable, long-acting exposure with GLP-1 analogues, monoclonal antibodies and peptides. IntraGel's technology is based on the research of Prof. Avi Domb, the School of Pharmacy, Institute for Drug Research at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and IntraGel's Scientific Founder and Chief Scientist. The Company was established as part of NGT, a unique VC and technology incubator dedicated to investing in visionary entrepreneurs from promising early-stage healthcare startups that bring positive social impact.

UroGen podala k FDA žádost o registraci UGN-103
URGN UroGen Pharma
FMP Stock News 86
Original source text
PRINCETON, N.J., Aug. 17, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- UroGen Pharma Ltd. (Nasdaq: URGN), a biotech company dedicated to developing and commercializing innovative solutions that treat urothelial and specialty cancers, today announced the submission of a New Drug Application (NDA) to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its investigational drug UGN-103 (mitomycin) for intravesical solution. UGN-103 is a next-generation mitomycin formulation being developed for the treatment of adults with recurrent low-grade intermediate-risk non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (LG-IR-NMIBC). It is built on the clinical and commercial foundation of ZUSDURI (mitomycin) for intravesical solution.

"The NDA submission for UGN-103 marks another important milestone in advancing our vision to redefine the treatment of urothelial cancers," said Liz Barrett, President and CEO of UroGen. "UGN-103 represents the next evolution in our portfolio and is designed to provide a more streamlined manufacturing process, simplified reconstitution and extended shelf-life of the reconstituted product while leveraging our RTGel® technology."

The NDA for UGN-103 is supported by the clinical data from the ongoing Phase 3 UTOPIA trial, a single-arm, multicenter study evaluating the efficacy and safety of UGN-103 in adult patients with recurrent LG-IR-NMIBC. UGN-103 demonstrated a 77.8% three-month complete response (CR) rate (95% CI: 68.3%, 85.5%) and a 94.5% six-month duration of response (DOR) by Kaplan-Meier estimate (95% CI: 86.1%, 97.9%). Both the three-month CR rate and the DOR observed at six months with UGN-103 in the UTOPIA trial are consistent with those observed in the pivotal ENVISION trial of ZUSDURI. Because these findings are derived from separate clinical studies, no formal cross-trial comparison was performed.

About UGN-103
In January 2024, UroGen entered into a licensing and supply agreement with medac to develop UGN-103 for recurrent LG-IR-NMIBC. UGN-103 is designed to reinforce and build on the clinical and commercial foundation of ZUSDURI, the first and only FDA-approved treatment for adults with recurrent LG-IR-NMIBC. The program maintains UroGen’s innovative and proven RTGel technology, enabling sustained mitomycin exposure in the bladder, while incorporating next-generation enhancements, including a more streamlined manufacturing process and simplified reconstitution to support improved ease of use in clinical practice. UroGen holds U.S. patents covering the combination of its proprietary RTGel technology with medac’s licensed lyophilized mitomycin formulation, as well as the use of UGN-103 in LG-IR-NMIBC, with intellectual property coverage expected to extend into July 2044.

About ZUSDURI
ZUSDURI (mitomycin) for intravesical solution is an innovative drug formulation of mitomycin, approved for the treatment of adults with recurrent LG-IR-NMIBC. Utilizing UroGen’s proprietary RTGel technology (a sustained release, hydrogel-based formulation), ZUSDURI is delivered directly into the bladder by a trained healthcare professional using a urinary catheter in an outpatient setting, thereby enabling the treatment of tumors by non-surgical means.

About Non-Muscle Invasive Bladder Cancer (NMIBC)
LG-IR-NMIBC affects around 82,000 people in the United States every year and of those, an estimated 59,000 are people experiencing recurrence. Bladder cancer primarily affects older populations with increased risk of comorbidities, with the median age of diagnosis being 73 years. Guideline recommendations for the management of NMIBC include transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT) as the standard of care. Up to 70 percent of NMIBC patients experience at least one recurrence, and LG-IR-NMIBC patients are even more likely to recur and face repeated TURBT procedures. Learn more about NMIBC at www.BladderCancerAnswers.com.

About UTOPIA
The UTOPIA trial is a single-arm, multicenter study evaluating the efficacy and safety of UGN-103 in 99 patients across global sites. Enrolled patients received 75 mg of UGN-103 via intravesical instillation in an outpatient setting once weekly for six weeks. The primary endpoint is CR rate at three months, with responders entering a follow-up phase of up to 12 months to assess DOR. For more information on the UTOPIA study, please visit https://clinicaltrials.gov/study/NCT06331299.

UroGen’s Investigational New Drug application for UGN-501 has been accepted by the FDA, and the Company plans to initiate its Phase 1 clinical trial in NMIBC in the fourth quarter of 2026. Second Quarter 2026 Financial Results

Revenue: Total revenue was $72.5 million in the second quarter of 2026, compared with $24.2 million in the second quarter of 2025. The increase was driven by the continued commercial launch of ZUSDURI.

Research and Development (R&D) Expenses: R&D expenses were $17.3 million in the second quarter of 2026, including non-cash share-based compensation expense of $0.9 million. This compares to $18.9 million, including non-cash share-based compensation expense of $0.4 million, in the same period in 2025. The decrease in R&D expenses was primarily attributable to ZUSDURI manufacturing costs, which were recognized as an R&D expense in the second quarter of 2025 prior to receiving FDA approval.

Selling, General and Administrative (SG&A) Expenses: SG&A expenses were $48.4 million in the second quarter of 2026, including non-cash share-based compensation expense of $4.4 million. This compares to $43.2 million, including non-cash share-based compensation expense of $2.3 million, in the same period in 2025. The increase in SG&A expenses was primarily attributable to ZUSDURI commercial activities, including the sales force expansion following ZUSDURI approval and higher brand marketing expenses, and an increase in overall commercial operation costs.

Financing on Prepaid Forward Obligation: UroGen reported non-cash financing expense related to the prepaid forward obligation to RTW Investments of $4.5 million in the second quarter of 2026, compared with $4.6 million in the same period in 2025.

Interest Expense on Long-term Debt: Interest expense related to long-term debt was $4.9 million in the second quarter of 2026, compared with $4.1 million in the same period in 2025. The increase in interest expense was primarily attributable to the additional borrowings of $75.0 million in the first quarter of 2026 in connection with the Pharmakon refinancing of long-term debt, offset by the lower interest rate.

Net Loss: UroGen reported a net loss of $14.4 million, or $0.28 per basic and diluted share, in the quarter ended June 30, 2026, compared with a net loss of $49.9 million, or ($1.05) per basic and diluted share, in the second quarter of 2025.

Cash, Cash Equivalents and Marketable Securities: As of June 30, 2026, cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities totaled $108.0 million.

2026 JELMYTO Revenue and Updated Company Operating Expense Guidance: The Company continues to expect 2026 net product revenue for JELMYTO to be in the range of $97 million to $101 million. This implies a year-over-year growth rate of approximately 3% to 7% over the $94 million of JELMYTO revenue reported in 2025. The Company is not providing full-year 2026 revenue guidance for ZUSDURI at this time, as the product remains in the early stages of its commercial launch. The Company is increasing its full-year 2026 operating expenses guidance to be in the range of $260 million to $270 million, including non-cash share-based compensation expense of $20 million to $24 million. The increase reflects the decision to accelerate investment behind the business in response to the continued strength of the ZUSDURI launch. Specifically, the Company plans to increase investment in ZUSDURI peer-to-peer promotional education and patient awareness initiatives to support long-term commercial adoption, and also accelerate start-up activities for the UGN-103 high-grade NMIBC trial and development activities of UGN-501 with RTGel®.

PRINCETON, N.J., July 15, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- UroGen Pharma Ltd. (Nasdaq: URGN), a biotech company dedicated to developing and commercializing innovative solutions that treat urothelial and specialty cancers, today announced that it has received a Notice of Allowance from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for patent application no. 18/784,354 entitled “Treatment of Low-Grade Intermediate-Risk Non-Muscle-Invasive Bladder Cancer With a Thermally Gelling Pharmaceutical Composition Containing Mitomycin.” The allowed claims cover methods of treating patients with recurrent, low-grade intermediate-risk non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (LG-IR-NMIBC) without a transurethral resection of a bladder tumor (TURBT), supported by data from the ENVISION and ATLAS clinical trials. The U.S. patent, once issued, will have an expiration date in July 2044.

“This patent allowance further strengthens the intellectual property foundation supporting ZUSDURI and our UGN-103 investigational medicine, if approved, and underscores the innovation behind our proprietary RTGel® technology,” said Liz Barrett, President and Chief Executive Officer of UroGen. “Supported by data from the ENVISION and ATLAS trials of ZUSDURI, these patent claims reflect the ability of our RTGel-based technology to deliver mitomycin as a primary, non-surgical treatment option for adults with recurrent LG-IR-NMIBC without a TURBT. We believe this approach helps patients achieve highly durable recurrence-free intervals while reducing the burden of repeat surgical interventions.”

Building on the growing body of clinical evidence supporting ZUSDURI and UGN-103, UroGen remains focused on advancing its proprietary RTGel technology and developing innovative therapies that have the potential to expand non-surgical treatment options for patients with urothelial cancers and strengthen the company’s long-term growth opportunities.

About UGN-103
In January 2024, UroGen entered into a licensing and supply agreement with medac to develop UGN-103 for recurrent LG-IR-NMIBC. UGN-103 is designed to reinforce and extend the clinical and commercial profile of ZUSDURI, the first and only FDA-approved treatment for adults with recurrent LG-IR-NMIBC. The program maintains UroGen’s innovative and proven RTGel technology, enabling sustained mitomycin exposure in the bladder, while incorporating next-generation enhancements, including a more streamlined manufacturing process and simplified reconstitution to support improved ease of use in clinical practice. UroGen holds U.S. patents covering the combination of its proprietary RTGel technology with medac’s licensed lyophilized mitomycin formulation, as well as the use of UGN-103 in LG-IR-NMIBC, with intellectual property protection expected to extend into December 2041.

What this transaction means for investorsFirst, it’s important to note that this was the final trade in a 10b5-1 plan Schoenberg set almost a year ago, so the timing was locked in long before Schoenberg could know how the firm was necessarily going to be performing. He still holds nearly 120,000 shares worth close to $4.8 million, and a chief medical officer keeping a stake that size while the company's newest drug is inflecting isn't sending any signal about the science.

The launch of Zusduri, UroGen’s new bladder cancer therapy, is what matters here, and it's going well. UroGen's first quarter revenue jumped 152% to $51 million, as a result of the launch, which brought in $29.2 million and more than doubled quarter over quarter after a permanent insurance billing code kicked in. CEO Liz Barrett called January's J-code "a major inflection point," and unique prescribers jumped to 256 from 102 in a single quarter. More recently, the firm announced that the FDA cleared its investigational new drug application for UGN-501, enabling a planned Phase 1 study in patients with non-muscle invasive bladder cancer. It’s expected to begin in the fourth quarter.

FDA clearance enables initiation of a planned Phase 1 clinical study evaluating local intravesical administration of UGN-501, with patient enrollment expected to begin in Q4 2026UGN-501 is a differentiated investigational next-generation oncolytic virus designed to combine direct tumor cell destruction with anti-tumor immune activation PRINCETON, N.J., July 08, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- UroGen Pharma Ltd. (Nasdaq: URGN), a biotech company dedicated to developing and commercializing innovative solutions that treat urothelial and specialty cancers, today announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) cleared the Company's Investigational New Drug application (IND) for UGN-501, a next-generation investigational oncolytic virus. The IND clearance enables initiation of a planned Phase 1 clinical study in patients with non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC). The Phase 1 study is expected to begin in Q4 2026 and will evaluate the safety, tolerability, and feasibility of intravesical administration of UGN-501.

"Patients with non-muscle invasive bladder cancer continue to face a significant risk of disease recurrence despite available treatment options," said Mark Schoenberg, M.D., Chief Medical Officer of UroGen. "UGN-501 is an investigational next-generation oncolytic virus designed to selectively destroy tumor cells while generating an anti-tumor immune response. FDA clearance of the IND allows us to begin evaluating whether the encouraging nonclinical profile of UGN-501 can translate into a safe and meaningful therapeutic approach for patients with NMIBC. We look forward to initiating the Phase 1 study and advancing our efforts to develop innovative treatment options for patients with bladder cancer."

NMIBC continues to present significant clinical challenges, particularly among patients whose disease recurs following standard treatment. Despite available therapies, recurrence rates remain substantial, underscoring the need for novel bladder-sparing therapeutic approaches. UroGen believes UGN-501's differentiated mechanism of action and local administration strategy may offer a promising new approach for addressing this unmet need.

About UGN-501

UGN-501 is an investigational, next-generation oncolytic virus being investigated for the treatment of non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC). UGN-501 is designed to selectively replicate within tumor cells, resulting in direct tumor cell destruction and an anti-tumor immune response. The program is supported by nonclinical data demonstrating cytotoxic activity across a broad panel of bladder cancer cell lines representing multiple stages and grades of disease. While UGN-501 is initially being developed for bladder cancer, the Company believes UGN-501's underlying properties may have broader applicability across additional solid tumor indications and intends to evaluate future development opportunities based on emerging clinical and translational data.
