Will Virgin Galactic (SPCE) Report Negative Q2 Earnings? What You Should Know
SPCE Virgin Galactic
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Wall Street expects a year-over-year increase in earnings on lower revenues when Virgin Galactic (SPCE - Free Report) reports results for the quarter ended June 2026. While this widely-known consensus outlook is important in gauging the company's earnings picture, a powerful factor that could impact its near-term stock price is how the actual results compare to these estimates.

The earnings report might help the stock move higher if these key numbers are better than expectations. On the other hand, if they miss, the stock may move lower.

While management's discussion of business conditions on the earnings call will mostly determine the sustainability of the immediate price change and future earnings expectations, it's worth having a handicapping insight into the odds of a positive EPS surprise.

Zacks Consensus EstimateThis company is expected to post quarterly loss of $0.60 per share in its upcoming report, which represents a year-over-year change of +59.2%.

Revenues are expected to be $0.1 million, down 75.6% from the year-ago quarter.

Estimate Revisions TrendThe consensus EPS estimate for the quarter has remained unchanged over the last 30 days. This is essentially a reflection of how the covering analysts have collectively reassessed their initial estimates over this period.

Investors should keep in mind that an aggregate change may not always reflect the direction of estimate revisions by each of the covering analysts.

Price, Consensus and EPS Surprise

Earnings WhisperEstimate revisions ahead of a company's earnings release offer clues to the business conditions for the period whose results are coming out. Our proprietary surprise prediction model -- the Zacks Earnings ESP (Expected Surprise Prediction) -- has this insight at its core.

The Zacks Earnings ESP compares the Most Accurate Estimate to the Zacks Consensus Estimate for the quarter; the Most Accurate Estimate is a more recent version of the Zacks Consensus EPS estimate. The idea here is that analysts revising their estimates right before an earnings release have the latest information, which could potentially be more accurate than what they and others contributing to the consensus had predicted earlier.

Thus, a positive or negative Earnings ESP reading theoretically indicates the likely deviation of the actual earnings from the consensus estimate. However, the model's predictive power is significant for positive ESP readings only.

A positive Earnings ESP is a strong predictor of an earnings beat, particularly when combined with a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy), 2 (Buy) or 3 (Hold). Our research shows that stocks with this combination produce a positive surprise nearly 70% of the time, and a solid Zacks Rank actually increases the predictive power of Earnings ESP.

Please note that a negative Earnings ESP reading is not indicative of an earnings miss. Our research shows that it is difficult to predict an earnings beat with any degree of confidence for stocks with negative Earnings ESP readings and/or Zacks Rank of 4 (Sell) or 5 (Strong Sell).

How Have the Numbers Shaped Up for Virgin Galactic? For Virgin Galactic, the Most Accurate Estimate is the same as the Zacks Consensus Estimate, suggesting that there are no recent analyst views which differ from what have been considered to derive the consensus estimate. This has resulted in an Earnings ESP of 0%.

On the other hand, the stock currently carries a Zacks Rank of #2.

So, this combination makes it difficult to conclusively predict that Virgin Galactic will beat the consensus EPS estimate.

Does Earnings Surprise History Hold Any Clue?Analysts often consider to what extent a company has been able to match consensus estimates in the past while calculating their estimates for its future earnings. So, it's worth taking a look at the surprise history for gauging its influence on the upcoming number.

For the last reported quarter, it was expected that Virgin Galactic would post a loss of$0.79 per share when it actually produced a loss of -$0.81, delivering a surprise of -2.53%.

Over the last four quarters, the company has beaten consensus EPS estimates three times.

Bottom LineAn earnings beat or miss may not be the sole basis for a stock moving higher or lower. Many stocks end up losing ground despite an earnings beat due to other factors that disappoint investors. Similarly, unforeseen catalysts help a number of stocks gain despite an earnings miss.

That said, betting on stocks that are expected to beat earnings expectations does increase the odds of success. This is why it's worth checking a company's Earnings ESP and Zacks Rank ahead of its quarterly release. Make sure to utilize our Earnings ESP Filter to uncover the best stocks to buy or sell before they've reported.

Virgin Galactic doesn't appear a compelling earnings-beat candidate. However, investors should pay attention to other factors too for betting on this stock or staying away from it ahead of its earnings release.

AST SpaceMobile Catapults 12%, SpaceX Rises 7%, Virgin Galactic and Rocket Lab Rally as Space Stock Trade Takes a Risk-on Turn
SPCE Virgin Galactic
FMP Stock News

Shares of space stocks are catching a bid Tuesday as the sector rebounds from recent weakness. AST SpaceMobile (NASDAQ:ASTS) stock leads the move with a 12% gain to $64. SpaceX (NASDAQ:SPCX | SPCX Price Prediction) shares are up 7% to $128, Virgin Galactic (NYSE:SPCE) stock is rallying 6% to $2.73, and Rocket Lab (NASDAQ:RKLB) stock is rallying 5% to $69. Meanwhile, the Procure Space ETF (NASDAQ:UFO) is 3% higher at $44.

The risk-on tone arrives after a punishing stretch that saw many space names give back substantial ground. Market watchers appear to be rotating back into the theme on fresh company-specific developments and broader optimism around orbital infrastructure. The move marks a sharp reversal from the sector’s recent selloff.

AST SpaceMobile Strengthens Balance Sheet, Expands Manufacturing Footprint AST SpaceMobile completed a $1.15 billion offering of 1.625% convertible senior notes due 2034. The company secured approximately $983.6 million in net proceeds after the initial close and full option exercise. The notes carry an effective conversion price of $149.20 per share that limits dilution to less than 2% thanks to capped call transactions.

AST SpaceMobile also received approval from Midland officials for a major factory expansion. The planned 400,000-square-foot satellite manufacturing facility could create up to 1,800 jobs and generate significant local tax revenue. The development supports the company’s vertical integration goals for its space-based cellular broadband network.

SpaceX Benefits from Analyst Optimism Amid Post-IPO Digestion SpaceX drew constructive commentary from Macquarie, which views the current SPCX price levels as a prime entry point and reaffirms a $250 price target on the stock. The analysts highlight SpaceX’s integrated advantages in reusable launch, satellite broadband, and AI-related infrastructure. They argue that the post-IPO pullback reflects digestion rather than any change in SpaceX’s fundamentals.

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has issued pointed remarks aimed at short sellers. The upcoming second-quarter earnings on August 4 could unlock additional shares for early investors. That event adds to the calendar-driven attention on the name.

Rocket Lab, Virgin Galactic Ride the Sector Lift Rocket Lab stock participated in the broader rebound despite limited company-specific news Tuesday. The company’s vertically integrated model continues to draw attention as a potential blueprint for peers seeking greater control over costs and timelines in the launch and satellite business.

Act now: the analyst who called NVIDIA in 2010 just named his top 10 AI stocks — and AST SpaceMobile didn't make the cut. Grab the names FREE today.

Virgin Galactic stock also advanced as part of the group move. The company operates in a more tourism-focused segment. That focus can introduce different volatility drivers compared with the broadband and launch-heavy names dominating much of the recent conversation.

Procure Space ETF Offers a Diversified Window on the Theme The Procure Space ETF provides exposure across multiple space names without single-stock concentration. The fund holds positions in names such as AST SpaceMobile and Rocket Lab, though it does not own SpaceX. This approach gives investors a smoother ride through sector swings.

The UFO ETF still carries thematic risk tied to the narrow space sector. Investors uncomfortable with individual name volatility may consider the fund as one way to participate in any sustained recovery.

What to Watch Now The bull case for the space group centers on declining launch costs, growing demand for orbital broadband and connectivity, and potential defense budget tailwinds. On the other hand, the bear case points to persistent execution risks, dilution potential from capital raises, and the high volatility inherent in largely unprofitable or early-stage businesses.

Investors can watch for AST SpaceMobile’s progress on the Midland facility and deployment timelines, the outcome of upcoming SpaceX Starship attempts, and any further analyst commentary or earnings updates. Given the elevated beta across these names, investors should consider keeping their position sizes modest while the trade re-prices risk and opportunity.

Meme ETF rally leaves many underwater
SPCE Virgin Galactic

SummaryCompaniesMeme-stock ETF rallies but still below IPO priceAI enthusiasm revives speculative trading, questions about valuationsHigh expectations can hamper returnsNEW YORK, July 10 (Reuters) - Investors chasing market themes are learning a familiar lesson: a hot investment doesn't necessarily make for a profitable one.

The Roundhill Meme Stock ETF is up about 35% this year, including a 3.5% rise on Thursday, driven by gains in companies including AST Spacemobile (ASTS.O), opens new tab, Terawulf (WULF.O), opens new tab and Lumentum Holdings (LITE.O), opens new tab.

The AI craze has fueled both a huge rally in the shares of highly profitable chip companies and a return of speculative ‌trading, featuring the embrace of leveraged ETFs, wild moves in smaller stocks and the sense that meme stock season is back.

But the fund, with $20 million in assets, remains below its October 2025 launch price, leaving investors who bought at inception underwater despite the 2026 rebound.

The performance gap highlights a principle often overlooked during periods of market euphoria: investment returns can be driven in the short term by fleeting qualities such as popularity and buzz, but the longer you hold an asset, the more factors such as profitability, competitive position and prices paid tend to take precedence.

"If you are looking to invest for the long term, however you define that long term, then you need to really understand the fundamentals of the business and what that business could potentially be worth," said Olga Bitel, chief investment strategist at William Blair Investment Management.

"Just because retail investors participate en masse in these exciting companies and IPOs, doesn't mean you shouldn't do the work and figure out what this thing actually does, where it fits into the ecosystem and whether it can deliver on the promises."

Investors still underwaterVALUATION MATTERSThose concerns could apply as well to some of the market's most closely watched companies, including SpaceX (SPCX.O), opens new tab and potential future listings by artificial intelligence startups OpenAI and Anthropic.

The companies have captured investor interest through rapid growth and leadership in emerging technologies. But it's unclear that their financial results will match the sky-high expectations any time soon, and history suggests that even good businesses can generate poor returns when lofty expectations feed ultrahigh valuations.

Cisco Systems (CSCO.O), opens new tab became the world's most valuable company at the height of the dot-com boom in 2000, as investors bet it would be a primary beneficiary of the internet's expansion. The company succeeded in becoming the dominant player in networking equipment, but investors who bought near the peak waited a quarter century for the stock to reclaim its dot-com-era high.

Anthropic and OpenAI may eventually test investor appetite in much the same way. Both command hefty private-market valuations despite remaining unprofitable. In May, Anthropic raised funds at a valuation of $965 billion, putting it ahead of OpenAI, ‌which was last valued at $852 billion in March.

Anthropic is just closing in on its first quarterly operating profit, as it spends heavily to develop and deploy its AI models. OpenAI also spent more, opens new tab than it made in the first quarter of 2026.

MODELING THE MEME STOCKSHigh expectations aren't the main problem for the meme stocks, which by definition come out of nowhere to catch investors' fancy at times when markets are setting new highs and momentum - the practice of buying assets when they go up and selling when they fall - is the most prominent dynamic. But the memes and the mega-IPOs can be linked by a prevailing bull-market belief that the worst mistake you can make is to be on the sidelines.

The Meme Stock ETF closed at $8.41 on Thursday, putting those who bought at launch down about 15%. By contrast, the benchmark S&P 500 (.SPX), opens new tab and the Nasdaq (.IXIC), opens new tab have each gained about 12% in the same period.

The fund's structure reflects that volatility. Its portfolio turns over nearly five times a year — among the highest rates on Wall Street — while almost 60% of assets are concentrated in its 10 largest holdings. Such holdings include fuel cell energy developer Bloom Energy (BE.N), opens new tab, fiber-optic maker Applied Optoelectronics (AAOI.O), opens new tab and Australia-based data center company IREN Limited (IREN.O), opens new tab.

Holdings are selected largely on measures of implied volatility and retail-trading interest, effectively making the portfolio a bet on investor sentiment.

"The MEME ETF is designed to provide investors exposure to stocks with the potential for meme-like behavior, and that comes with volatility in both directions," Dave Mazza, Roundhill Investments CEO, said in a statement. "The fund’s inception coincided with the peak of the last retail cycle, which speaks to timing rather than to whether these stocks can deliver strong moves on the upside, as we have seen this year."

Markets have repeatedly shown that high expectations can become a burden. Investors who buy at peaks of optimism often find that even strong operating performance is not enough to support elevated share prices.

"The retail army of traders certainly helps trends happen, but there's obviously no free lunch in investing," said Will McGough, chief investment officer at Prime Capital Financial.

SpaceX Falls 6% Despite Wave of Bullish Analyst Initiations, Rocket Lab Dives 10%, AST SpaceMobile Drops 6%, Virgin Galactic Falls 5%
SPCE Virgin Galactic
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Shares of SpaceX (NASDAQ:SPCX) are down 6% to $151 and change in midday trading Tuesday, an unusual response given the flood of bullish analyst initiations that hit the tape today and the company’s addition to the NASDAQ 100. The pullback appears to be dragging the broader space complex with it.

AST SpaceMobile (NASDAQ:ASTS) stock is off 6% to $76, while Virgin Galactic (NYSE:SPCE) shares are down 5% to $2.55. Rocket Lab (NASDAQ:RKLB | RKLB Price Prediction) stock is down 10%, tracking sympathetic weakness across launch, satellite, and orbital services names.

The tape looks contradictory on SpaceX. The bullish catalysts are real, yet the stock is falling as investors weigh an approaching insider lockup schedule against a broader risk-off move hitting tech, chips, memory, and EV names today.

Bullish Initiations Collide With Lockup Overhang SpaceX went public on June 29, and formal coverage launched today with more than a dozen firms initiating, overwhelmingly at Buy, Outperform, or Overweight ratings. Price targets clustered in the $190 to $300 range. Bullish highlights included Morgan Stanley at Overweight and a $300 target and Raymond James at Strong Buy with an $800 target.

Raymond James cited a total addressable market approaching $30 trillion. The lone skeptic was MoffettNathanson, which came out Neutral with a $131 target, arguing there is “no credible financial model” to support a roughly $2 trillion valuation. That wide target dispersion signals genuine disagreement about how to value SpaceX today.

SpaceX also joined the NASDAQ 100 today under revised index rules, forcing passive funds to buy. JPMorgan estimated around $4.3 billion of index-driven demand. SpaceX stock is shrugging off that technical tailwind in real time.

The weight on SpaceX shares appears to be the coming share supply. Insider lockups begin expiring on a staggered schedule in late July, with 20% of locked shares freeing up after Q2 results, followed by smaller tranches of 7% each through August, September, and October. The 180-day batch clears in December.

Another 10% of the locked pool unlocks if SpaceX stock trades 30% above its $135 IPO price, a $175.50 trigger. SpaceX CEO Elon Musk’s 6.4 billion shares stay locked until June 2027.

This is the first real test of insider appetite at a roughly $2 trillion valuation. The weakness extends well beyond SpaceX.

Act now: the analyst who called NVIDIA in 2010 just named his top 10 AI stocks — and AST SpaceMobile didn't make the cut. Grab the names FREE today.

Space Peers Fall in Sympathy AST SpaceMobile shares are under pressure today. The company’s Q1 2026 report showed revenue of $14.73 million missing the $36.58 million consensus, and the company remains deeply pre-profit despite nearly 60 mobile network operator partners covering more than 3 billion subscribers.

Virgin Galactic sits in a similar bucket. Virgin Galactic posted Q1 EPS of -$0.81, beating the -$0.94 estimate, and CEO Michael Colglazier said flight testing remains on track for Q3 2026 with a first commercial spaceflight targeted in Q4 2026. Virgin Galactic stock has been volatile all year and trades under $3 for good reason.

Rocket Lab is the closest thing to a fundamental story in this basket. The company’s Q1 2026 revenue rose 64% year over year (YoY) to $200.4 million, backlog swelled to $2.2 billion, and CEO Peter Beck highlighted the Space Based Interceptor selection under the Golden Dome program with Raytheon. Rocket Lab stock is still lower today, dragged by the same risk-off wave.

For diversified exposure, the Procure Space ETF (NASDAQ:UFO) is the purest revenue-weighted way to play the sector. Top holdings include several pure-play space names across satellite communications and launch. Investors can note that the ETF and its underlying names carry outsized volatility, which is on full display today.

What to Watch The next real test for SpaceX stock arrives in late July, when the company’s Q2 2026 results land and the first tranche of insider shares unlocks. Any signal of heavy insider selling into that window can weigh on SpaceX shares well before the December cliff.

The bulls have three legs: the wave of Buy ratings, the NASDAQ 100 passive bid, and SpaceX’s launch, Starlink, and AI-infrastructure optionality. The bears counter with the lockup calendar, MoffettNathanson’s contested valuation math, and the speculative, pre-profit nature of the smaller space names. A single session doesn’t change the long-term thesis in either direction.

Investors sizing up their space-stock exposure should consider keeping their position sizes modest given the volatility on display. The July earnings-and-lockup window is the near-term catalyst that could reset how the market prices SpaceX stock and the broader space complex.

Virgin Galactic Rises 13%, AST SpaceMobile Jumps 9%, Rocket Lab Climbs 5%: Is This a Re-Rotation Out of SpaceX?
SPCE Virgin Galactic
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Space stocks are catching a bid in Friday midday trading. Virgin Galactic (NYSE:SPCE) stock is up 13% to $2.83, AST SpaceMobile (NASDAQ:ASTS) stock is up 9% to $71.72, and Rocket Lab (NASDAQ:RKLB | RKLB Price Prediction) stock is up 5% to $84.40. The synchronized move has reignited a familiar debate on trading desks and financial social media.

The question circulating: is capital finally rotating out of SpaceX (NASDAQ:SPCX) stock and back into the smaller, publicly traded space pure-plays? The price tape says: not necessarily. SPCX stock is essentially flat on the day, trading at $152.40.

That detail is a crucial indicator. A genuine rotation out of one name and into others typically shows the source falling hard while the destinations climb. That’s not the case here, but there are still significant takeaways from today’s price action.

Oversold Bounce After a Brutal Stretch The setup heading into Friday explains the snap-back. Heading into today’s session, Virgin Galactic, Rocket Lab, and AST SpaceMobile had all been under significant pressure, with each name posting sharp declines from recent highs. That kind of coordinated downside drawdown is the textbook setup for a relief rally.

Reddit captured the mood vividly. One r/WallStreetBets post titled “Down $240k in less than a month at 23 thanks to ASTS” drew 4,446 upvotes and 934 comments at peak engagement. An r/stocks thread bluntly asked, “So did we stop caring about Space now?” on the way down.

With these space tickers all down sharply recently and all bouncing on Friday, the cleanest interpretation is a relief rally in beaten-down momentum names. No fresh, group-wide catalyst has been confirmed for SPCE, ASTS, and RKLB today.

SpaceX and the Rotation Thesis For a rotation narrative to hold water, SpaceX stock would sell off rapidly on heavy trading volume while the others rallied. Instead, SPCX is holding steady. That alone undercuts the idea that traders are abandoning the dominant launch-and-compute giant in favor of Virgin Galactic, AST SpaceMobile, or Rocket Lab.

SpaceX also has its own story working in the background. Recent reporting points to massive compute-rental deals, including $1.25 billion per month from Anthropic for roughly 300 megawatts of compute capacity and a separate $920 million per month arrangement with Alphabet‘s (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Google running into mid-2029. Wall Street has been re-rating SpaceX as a hybrid space and hyperscaler story, which makes a sudden capital flight from the name unlikely on any single Friday.

The smaller names are simply more volatile. When sentiment flips, they move further in both directions, which is what today’s tape suggests.

Where the Fundamentals Sit Today The trio bouncing today enters this rally from very different positions. Rocket Lab carries the most institutional weight, posting Q1 2026 revenue growth of 64% year over year and a backlog that recently expanded with a Golden Dome interceptor program selection alongside Raytheon. Rocket Lab’s Neutron debut launch is still targeted for later this year.

AST SpaceMobile is in deployment mode, racing to grow its BlueBird satellite constellation toward roughly 45 satellites in orbit by year-end while reaffirming full-year revenue guidance. Meanwhile, Virgin Galactic sits at the speculative end of the spectrum, with flight testing on track and a first commercial spaceflight targeted for the fourth quarter.

What to Watch Into the Close Prediction-market traders aren’t sold on follow-through. Polymarket’s daily SpaceX direction contract is sitting at a 50-50 split for the next session, and Rocket Lab June price targets on Polymarket cluster between $136 and $152, with $144 the most probable outcome at 3% odds.

Investors can watch for whether today’s gains hold into the close and carry into next week. A single green session after a stretch of declines doesn’t confirm a trend reversal, and these tickers swing violently in both directions on light news.

The takeaway is simple: Friday’s rally reads as an oversold bounce in SPCE, ASTS, and RKLB. Investors should consider keeping their position sizes modest given how speculative this group remains, and watch Monday’s open for the first real test of conviction.

SpaceX Soars 15%, Rocket Lab Gains 7%, Virgin Galactic Drops 4%: Why Space Stocks Are Diverging Today
SPCE Virgin Galactic
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Shares of SpaceX (NASDAQ:SPCX) are up 16% in Monday afternoon trading, climbing to about $187 as buyers extend the post-IPO surge that began last Friday. The newly minted NASDAQ listing priced at $135 and opened at $150, and the momentum hasn’t paused since.

Meanwhile, Rocket Lab (NASDAQ:RKLB | RKLB Price Prediction) stock is rallying 7% to $109 and change. The move comes against a broader risk-on tape that has some space-sector names catching a bid.

Virgin Galactic (NYSE:SPCE) stock is moving the other way, down 4% to around $3.74. That drop continues a rough stretch for the long-running space laggard and underscores the day’s clear divergence theme.

SpaceX IPO Halo Powers a Sector Rally SpaceX stock’s NASDAQ debut last Friday set the tone for today’s session. Pricing came in at $135, shares opened at $150, and momentum carried into Monday with double-digit gains. The company’s market cap sits near $1.38 trillion, instantly making SpaceX a heavyweight in the listed space cohort.

SpaceX also brings a structural advantage. Since 2023, the company has launched more than 80% of mass to orbit for the world each year with an over 99% mission success rate, and approximately 9,600 Starlink broadband and mobile satellites operate in Low-Earth Orbit, delivering connectivity across 164 countries. That scale is part of why the first trading days have generated such intense demand.

The enthusiasm is bleeding into Rocket Lab shares. There’s no company-specific catalyst for RKLB stock today, but the SpaceX halo, paired with a broader risk-on mood helped by a U.S.-Iran peace deal lifting markets, has investors leaning into the space trade. Rocket Lab stock had been working off a recent pullback, with shares down 18% over the past month heading into today’s bounce.

The fundamentals give Rocket Lab bulls something to lean on. Rocket Lab’s Q1 2026 revenue climbed 64% year over year (YoY) to $200.35 million, beating the $189.41 million estimate, and backlog reached $2.2 billion. CEO Peter Beck described it as “record financial performance of more than $200 million in revenue” with “$2.2 billion in backlog.”

Virgin Galactic Diverges on Dilution and Execution Worries Virgin Galactic stock is the clear outlier today, and the story appears to be company-specific. The company recently executed a debt-to-equity swap aimed at enhancing cash flexibility. The trade-off is near-term share dilution and continued pressure on future operations.

Analysts have cautioned that execution risk remains elevated heading into upcoming commercial launches. Virgin Galactic shares screen as 4% undervalued at current trading prices, but that valuation cushion hasn’t been enough to offset the dilution overhang.

The operating picture doesn’t help the case. Virgin Galactic’s Q1 2026 revenue came in at $227,000, down 51% YoY, missing the $240,000 estimate, and management guided to free cash flow of -$87 million to -$92 million for Q2 2026. SPCE stock now trades much closer to its 52-week low of $2.13 than its $8.90 high.

There are still operational catalysts on the calendar for Virgin Galactic. Flight testing remains on track for Q3 2026, with the first commercial spaceflight targeted for Q4 2026, and the first next-gen SpaceShip recently moved from the assembly hangar to the test-and-launch hangar. The market, however, is signaling that Virgin Galactic’s dilution risk currently outweighs that upcoming flight schedule.

Sentiment and Prediction Markets Confirm the Split The crowd is treating these as three different stories. Polymarket priced a 97% probability that Rocket Lab stock closes higher today, with 86% odds that it holds the $112 level this week. That week-ahead conviction is a strong signal that today’s bid for RKLB isn’t a one-session blip.

Reddit data tells the same divergence story. RKLB sentiment scored 88 (very bullish) on June 15, while SPCE sentiment landed at 22 (bearish), with one widely upvoted thread titled “$SPCX vs $SPCE the degenerate thesis was hilariously wrong.” Retail investors are clearly picking sides within the space trade rather than buying the basket.

Investors can watch for whether SpaceX stock holds its post-IPO gains into the close, whether Rocket Lab shares clear the $112 level the crowd has flagged, and whether Virgin Galactic stock can stabilize ahead of the company’s next operational milestone. The space sector has often moved as a single trade; today’s session shows clear divergence, and that’s an actionable takeaway for sizing exposure across the group.

SPCE weekly chart shows bullish reversal of long-term trend Structural Confirmation Across Swing Highs Strength was further confirmed following the breakout, with several reversal signals triggering, above the lower swing highs of $5.23, $6.64, and $8.19. The highest level ($8.19) is more significant, and each level may now act as potential support during a pullback. Although $8.19 was recovered, that level could not be sustained, and the signal did not confirm with a daily close above it, leaving it as an important but not fully validated breakout reference.

Short-Term Stretch, Longer-Term Inflection Certainly, in the short-term SPCE is overbought. But signs of a long-term bullish reversal suggest that a bearish correction will likely resolve to the upside. One question is whether strong demand is retained during a pullback, or whether price action begins to evolve into a deeper corrective phase. There has only been one leg up in the bullish reversal so far, suggesting that, at a minimum, another leg higher should follow.

Trend Structure Defines the Next Phase Importantly, the structure from the initial surge into resistance continues to define the developing trend, and whether SPCE can hold above reclaimed breakout levels will likely determine if this move matures into a sustained uptrend or fades into consolidation.

Virgin Galactic's 200% Rally Burns Short Sellers
SPCE Virgin Galactic
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Virgin Galactic Holdings SPCE has suddenly become one of the most painful trades for short sellers in the space sector. The stock has jumped more than 200% since May 20, handing bearish traders an estimated $64 million in paper losses this year, according to S3 Partners. The move followed fresh investor attention around the company's reaffirmed timeline in its first-quarter 2026 business update and the VSS Unity prototype spaceship's glide flight in two years.

The real spark may not be fundamentals alone. S3 Partners said the rally was likely strengthened by a short squeeze, as traders betting against Virgin Galactic were forced to buy back shares to close their positions. Bob Sloan, founder of S3 Partners, said shorts entered June under pressure, with $118.3 million positioned short against $44.9 million in active long positions and $58.2 million in passive long positions.

The bigger backdrop is the market's renewed appetite for space-related names ahead of a possible SpaceX market debut. That excitement has pulled investors toward companies seen as potential beneficiaries, even after the sector faced a reality check from a Blue Origin rocket explosion during a launchpad test. Virgin Galactic has so far resisted that broader pullback, and S3 suggested that if the rally continues, the size of the short position could leave short sellers as possible marginal buyers.

Virgin Galactic Crashes 32% on Settlement Dilution Fears, AST SpaceMobile Rises 10%, Planet Labs Climbs 9%
SPCE Virgin Galactic

Space stocks are splitting hard in Tuesday’s session. Virgin Galactic (NYSE:SPCE) stock is crashing 32% to around $5.08 in mid-morning trading, while AST SpaceMobile (NASDAQ:ASTS) stock climbs 10% to around $116 and Planet Labs (NYSE:PL) stock advances 9% to around $50.50.

The divergence captures the latest chapter in an ongoing space-sector story. Retail-driven proxy trades are unwinding, while operating businesses keep attracting bids.

Settlement News Triggers SPCE Dilution Scare Virgin Galactic received preliminary court approval for a shareholder derivative settlement, and that headline reignited fears around cash runway and additional share issuance. The company had already telegraphed dilution risk through its January 3 capital realignment plan, which paired debt restructuring with fresh stock issuance.

The bull case had been a low-float short squeeze tied to the upcoming SpaceX IPO, while the bear case has always pointed to recurring dilution and pre-revenue operations. Today, the bears won the argument. Virgin Galactic’s Q1 2026 revenue came in at just $227,000, with a $64.72 million net loss and free cash flow of negative $93.31 million.

A Pullback From Parabolic, Not a Thesis Break Context matters here. Even after today’s collapse, Virgin Galactic stock is still up 55% year to date (YTD).

This is a sharp reset from extreme levels in an otherwise stable sector, with the SPCE move isolated to company-specific catalysts. Reddit sentiment confirms the whiplash: WallStreetBets scores swung from a peak of 89 (very bullish) on May 30 to a low of 19 (very bearish) by Monday evening.

AST SpaceMobile Breaks Out on Operating Momentum AST SpaceMobile is a different animal. The satellite-to-cellular operator has real partnerships covering nearly 60 global mobile network operators and 3 billion-plus subscribers, and it reaffirmed FY2026 revenue guidance of $150 million to $200 million. The company is targeting around 45 satellites in orbit by year-end, with BlueBird 8, 9, and 10 launching on Falcon 9 in mid-June.

The numbers behind today’s move are striking. ASTS stock is up 373% over the past year. Today’s breakout suggests buyers are stepping back in after a brief consolidation.

Planet Labs Climbs on Real Revenue Story Planet Labs offers commercial Earth imaging and geospatial intelligence with actual contracts. The most recent quarter showed record revenue of $81.25 million, up 33% year over year, with remaining performance obligations surging 361% to $672.47 million. Government contract wins span NASA, NRO, and NGA Luno B.

Planet Labs stock has rallied 1,209% over the past year, and the chart still looks steadier than SPCE stock’s parabolic episode. It’s parabolic in cumulative return, just less frantic in path. The valuation is now premium, and that’s a real risk investors may want to factor into their position sizing.

Proxy Speculation Versus Operating Exposure The takeaway is the divergence itself: Virgin Galactic stock became a frenzied SpaceX IPO proxy, and a single settlement-driven dilution scare gutted the trade. Meanwhile, AST SpaceMobile and Planet Labs are trading on partnerships, contracts, and satellite deployments. Both names still carry headline risk and rich multiples, so investors can manage their exposure with sensible position sizing rather than chasing strength.

Watch for further SpaceX IPO timing updates, any Virgin Galactic financing disclosures tied to the settlement, AST SpaceMobile operational updates, and Planet Labs’ next contract announcements. Any announcements could shape order flows in the coming days.

Virgin Galactic stock crashes 38%: Here's why investors are selling
SPCE Virgin Galactic
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Virgin Galactic shares SPCE plunged on Tuesday, reversing part of a dramatic rally that had made the stock one of the biggest gainers among space-related companies in recent weeks.

The stock fell as much as 38%, marking its steepest one-day decline on record, after the space tourism company announced plans to repay debt by issuing common shares.

The selloff came after a seven-session winning streak that had driven the stock more than 200% higher, fueled by growing enthusiasm surrounding the space sector ahead of SpaceX's highly anticipated initial public offering.

Despite the sharp decline, Virgin Galactic shares remained significantly higher for the year, reflecting renewed investor interest in the broader space economy.

The immediate trigger for Tuesday's decline was Virgin Galactic's decision to redeem a substantial portion of its outstanding debt through stock issuance.

According to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the company plans to redeem up to $30.5 million of its first-lien notes on June 10, 2026, by issuing common shares to noteholders.

Virgin Galactic had previously redeemed $10 million of the debt in May.

The company still faces obligations to repay approximately $20.4 million by September 2026 and at least another $10.1 million by the end of 2027.

Management said the transaction is intended to strengthen the balance sheet and manage cash resources more effectively.

If completed, the redemption would satisfy all required principal payments on the first-lien notes through the end of 2027.

However, investors reacted negatively to the prospect of dilution.

At recent share prices, the transaction could require the issuance of millions of additional shares, reducing the ownership percentage of existing shareholders.

The move highlights the challenges facing Virgin Galactic as it continues investing in its commercial space tourism ambitions while managing its financial position.

Virgin Galactic's recent rally had been closely tied to growing excitement surrounding SpaceX's planned public offering.

SpaceX is expected to raise record amounts of capital and could be valued at roughly $2 trillion, drawing renewed attention to the commercial space industry.

Investors have increasingly viewed SpaceX's success as evidence of the long-term potential of the space economy.

The enthusiasm has spread across the sector, benefiting a range of space-related stocks and exchange-traded funds.

Retail investor activity also increased in recent weeks, while short-covering activity may have contributed to the sharp gains in Virgin Galactic shares.

Additional optimism emerged after investor Rich Huang and RichRich Capital disclosed a 5.26% stake in the company, a development that many investors viewed as a vote of confidence in Virgin Galactic's future prospects.

Delta spacecraft progress remains a key focusBeyond the broader sector rally, investor sentiment has also been supported by progress on Virgin Galactic's Delta-class spacecraft program.

The company recently announced that its spacecraft had returned to New Mexico for test flights designed to prepare pilots and operations teams for future missions.

Virgin Galactic continues to target the fourth quarter of 2026 for the start of commercial operations using its next-generation spacecraft.

While the company remains far below the valuation levels reached during the peak of investor enthusiasm several years ago, management is betting that the Delta program will help establish a sustainable commercial space tourism business.

For now, however, investors appear focused on the near-term impact of share dilution and the financial costs associated with bringing that vision to market.

Why Is Virgin Galactic Stock Cooling Off On Tuesday?
SPCE Virgin Galactic
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Virgin Galactic Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:SPCE) shares are falling on Tuesday. The descent marks a sharp turn from Monday, when the stock jumped 25.89%.

Broader Sector Rotation Pressures SPCEThe primary driver behind Tuesday's downward price action stems from a sector-wide selloff.

Stock market traders are actively pivoting capital away from alternative space equities to position themselves for the highly anticipated SpaceX initial public offering.

Profit Taking After Multi-Day SurgeTuesday's decline also reflects a standard cooling-off period. The space tourism pioneer experienced a massive 125% rally over the previous five trading sessions.

Fueling the Massive Short SqueezeThe pullback follows an explosive multi-day run where short sellers felt heavy pressure.

Short interest in Virgin Galactic had increased from 21.88 million to 22.71 million shares, leaving 21.77% of the company's float short.

With an average daily volume of 9.15 million shares, bears faced a 2.48-day short-squeeze risk, which aggressively accelerated the upward momentum before Tuesday's reversal.

Legal and Catalyst FrameworkThe stock's recent strength was built upon a successful May 27 VSS Unity glide test and a Jefferies analyst note reaffirming a fourth quarter of 2026 commercial launch roadmap.

Additionally, momentum was amplified after a federal court granted preliminary approval for a settlement resolving two shareholder derivative lawsuits, forcing insurers to pay $2.75 million back to Virgin Galactic.

Critical Levels To Watch for SPCE StockEven after the premarket dip, SPCE is still trading far above its trend gauges: about 99.3% above the 20-day SMA ($3.32) and 106.6% above the 200-day SMA ($3.20).

Momentum is the bigger story right now: the RSI is 90.11, deep in overbought territory.

From a levels standpoint, the 52-week high at $8.90 (set in June) is the obvious upside reference after the recent surge, while the $6.90 area is now the immediate battleground as traders decide whether this is a routine pullback or the start of a deeper mean reversion.

SPCE Price Action: Virgin Galactic Holdings shares were down 37.70% at $4.68 at the time of publication on Tuesday, according to Benzinga Pro data.

Why Virgin Galactic's stock is having its worst day ever, after a record-smashing 7-day run

HomeIndustriesAerospace/DefenseSpace WatchSpace WatchThe space-tourism company made a move to pay off some debt, but investors aren’t happy that it will issue new shares to do soLast Updated: June 2, 2026 at 6:12 p.m. ET

Virgin Galactic’s stock took a historic dive on Tuesday after the space-tourism firm disclosed new details about how it plans to shore up its finances.

The selloff comes after shares of the company SPCE, founded by billionaire Richard Branson, had rocketed to a record-breaking seven-day rally of 204.5% through Monday, partially thanks to industrywide interest fueled by the upcoming SpaceX SPCX initial public offering. Its previous record for a seven-day gain, not including the recent period, was when it shot up 97.3% over the seven-session stretch ending Feb. 19, 2020.

Should You Forget the $2 Trillion SpaceX IPO and Buy This $7 Space Stock Instead?
SPCE Virgin Galactic
FMP Stock News
Original source text
With a targeted valuation of $2 trillion, SpaceX could become the largest IPO in history. As SpaceX's public debut inches closer, investor excitement around the space exploration economy might have just reached a fever pitch.

Among the biggest beneficiaries of space stocks in recent months is Virgin Galactic (SPCE 31.76%). Despite the company's operational struggles and persistent cash burn, Virgin Galactic's shares have gone parabolic in recent trading sessions -- rising from roughly $2 to more than $7 (as of June 1).

This disconnect between business fundamentals and price action raises important questions about market psychology and the risks that come with momentum investing.

Why is Virgin Galactic stock going up? The most plausible explanation behind Virgin Galactic's unexpected rise boils down to basic confusion. SpaceX is expected to list on the Nasdaq under the ticker symbol "SPCX." This is just one letter away from Virgin Galactic's ticker, "SPCE."

It's highly likely that some retail investors are mistakenly funneling capital into the wrong name. In fast-moving markets -- especially around high-profile events like an IPO -- mix-ups like this can easily create sharp price jolts that are unrelated to a company's underlying prospects.

SPCE data by YCharts

Adding fuel to the fire is the popularity of meme trading. Some narratives suggest that a successful SpaceX IPO could lift stocks across the broader commercial space industry -- essentially providing a halo effect to adjacent names like Virgin Galactic.

In reality, Virgin Galactic and SpaceX operate in distinct segments. SpaceX primarily focuses on reusable orbital rockets and satellite internet connectivity, while Virgin Galactic is pursuing niche, suborbital space tourism.

Virgin Galactic is a struggling business Make no mistake: Virgin Galactic is hemorrhaging cash as it works through the capital-intensive and technically demanding process of scaling commercial space tourism.

SPCE Free Cash Flow data by YCharts

Indeed, SpaceX has also posted significant operating losses in recent years. But even so, at least the company has built a respectable backlog of government contracts and demonstrated repeated technological success with Starship and Starlink. By contrast, Virgin Galactic has yet to prove it can generate consistent revenue and sustainable free cash flow.

Is Virgin Galactic stock a buy? While momentum investing can deliver outsize short-term gains, it also comes with substantial risks. During rallies like this, stock prices are usually driven by fleeting narratives detached from intrinsic value. This setup often creates sharp reversals once enthusiasm cools down.

Investors who chase pronounced moves and ignore underlying business fundamentals almost always end up holding the bag once sentiment flips. It's important not to let emotional decision-making or the fear of missing out replace disciplined financial analysis and appropriate risk assessment.

Against this backdrop, Virgin Galactic's newfound price action is not an invitation to buy; rather, it is a cautionary example of how swiftly markets can replace concrete substance with a compelling story. Ultimately, Virgin Galactic is a stock best left to day traders rather than long-term investors focused on wealth creation and capital preservation.

The Nasdaq Composite (IXIC) and S&P 500 Index (SPX) are modestly higher as well, as investors brush off the latest Iran threats from President Donald Trump.

Stubborn oil prices are keeping a cap on gains, with West Texas Intermediate (WTI) back above $90 per barrel. Wholesale prices rising above expectations for May is another overhang today, though the building buzz over SpaceX's initial public offering (IPO) tomorrow is enough of a boost for now.

What's Going On With The Uplift In Virgin Galactic Stock?
SPCE Virgin Galactic
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Virgin Galactic Holdings shares are climbing with conviction. What’s behind SPCE gains? Analysts Are Setting Lofty Expectations For SpaceXNew Street Research released its first set of projections for SpaceX and the numbers are enormous. The firm set a $165 price target, which represents 22% upside from the expected IPO price.

They expect SpaceX to generate $195.3 billion in revenue in 2030. Their breakdown includes $9.7 billion from Space, $57.9 billion from Connectivity and $127.7 billion from AI. They see revenue expanding at a 60% compounded annual rate from 2025 through 2030 and estimate earnings per share of $3.30 by 2030.

Why SPCE Is Up TodayVirgin Galactic is rising because the entire space industry is being pulled into the spotlight. The upcoming SpaceX listing has created a wave of speculative buying, and SPCE is a way for traders to position ahead of what could be one of the most influential IPOs of the decade.

SPCE Technical Levels To WatchThe moving‑average layout sends a mixed message. The 20‑day simple moving average is above the 50‑day simple moving average, which supports the short‑term trend. The 50‑day simple moving average remains below the 200‑day simple moving average, which reflects a longer‑term downtrend that began in January.

Momentum adds another layer. MACD is below its signal line and the histogram is negative, which indicates that the recent surge is losing strength compared to the prior upswing. When MACD stays under the signal line, rallies often slow unless buyers step in with enough force to turn momentum back upward.

Key levels help frame the next move:

Key Resistance: $8.90 — the June 52‑week high and the clearest ceiling above current price. Key Support: $4.12 — near the 20‑day exponential moving average, a common first‑pullback zone in strong advances. SPCE Shares Are SoaringSPCE Price Action: Virgin Galactic shares were up 21.23% at $5.71 at the time of publication on Thursday, according to Benzinga Pro.

Everyone's Watching SpaceX — But This $4 Space Stock Just Flashed A Golden Cross
SPCE Virgin Galactic
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Chart created using Benzinga Pro

The signal comes as SpaceX prepares to begin trading at $135 per share or higher, potentially becoming one of the largest and most expensive IPOs in market history.

Golden Cross SetupAccording to the chart, SPCE’s 20-day moving average sits at $4.17, above its 50-day moving average of $3.33. The stock remains above both trend lines despite Thursday’s pullback, keeping the bullish crossover intact.

Volume has also expanded sharply during the recent advance, with several sessions posting significantly above-average trading activity as the stock climbed more than 56% over the past month.

Momentum IndicatorsMomentum readings remain constructive.

The Relative Strength Index, or RSI, stands at 51.85, suggesting the stock is neither overbought nor oversold.

Meanwhile, the MACD (moving average convergence/divergence) indicator remains in positive territory, with the MACD line at 0.50 and the signal line at 0.52. While momentum has cooled from recent highs, the indicator continues to reflect a bullish trend backdrop.

SpaceX ShadowThe timing is difficult to ignore.

As investors focus on SpaceX’s blockbuster debut, speculative interest has returned to the broader space sector. SPCE stock is up 32.67% year-to-date and 45.02% over the past year, though the stock remains well below levels reached during previous retail-driven rallies.

Whether the golden cross develops into a sustained uptrend remains to be seen. But while Wall Street debates whether SpaceX’s valuation is justified, technical traders may already be finding opportunities elsewhere in the space economy.

Space Stocks Get Torched: Short Seller Calls Them 'Sci-Fi Wishes'
SPCE Virgin Galactic
FMP Stock News
Original source text
SPCX stock is open for trading. See the chart and price action here. Short ThesisThe firm’s central thesis: the sector’s entire premium rests on one trade — buy public space proxies before SpaceX goes public via its SPCX listing, then ride the re-rating.

Fugazi argues that trade is about to unwind.

“When SpaceX begins trading under SPCX, giving capital direct access to the only space company with actual revenue, actual launch dominance, and actual recurring cash flows,” the report states, the structural reason to hold any of the six names at a premium “amounts to zero.”

The TargetsBenzinga reached out to the companies named in the report, but did not immediately receive a response.

Virgin Galactic Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:SPCE): Fugazi points out that analyst consensus for Virgin Galactic's Q2 revenue stands at $244,800 — a figure the firm notes was revised downward 86.67% in just three months.

The report highlights that Virgin Galactic has guided Q4 commercial flight commencement for four consecutive years, and that the vehicle has completed one unpowered glide test.

Sidus Space, Inc. (NASDAQ:SIDU): Fugazi notes that Sidus Space generates only about $3 million in annual revenue, just raised $100 million and, in the firm’s view, will need to raise more.

The firm points out that cash on hand as of March 31, 2026 stood at $4 million against an accumulated deficit of $75.6 million, with zero revenue and zero space operations. A going concern qualification is already on file.

SpaceX Begins TradingAdding to the sector's woes, investors "sold-the-news" as SpaceX shares opened for trading at $150 per share, according to Benzinga Pro data.

Traders booked profits on the other space stocks that had run up sharply ahead of the SpaceX IPO.

SPCX Stock Price Activity: SpaceX shares were up 25.77% at $169.79 at the time of publication Friday, according to Benzinga Pro.
