Super Micro Computer klesá, býk vidí 55% růst
SMCI Super Micro Computer
FMP Stock News 78
Original source text
Super Micro Computer (NASDAQ:SMCI | SMCI Price Prediction) currently trades at $31.13 against a Wall Street consensus price target of $37.81, leaving roughly a 21% gap between current levels and where sell-side analysts think the shares belong.

Super Micro builds high-density AI servers and datacenter infrastructure, including liquid-cooled Blackwell platforms that hyperscalers are buying in bulk. One prominent bull sees closer to 55% upside from here, arguing that a multi-billion-dollar backlog and improving margins outweigh export-control concerns and recent dilution.

A Three-Month Grind From May earnings through early August, the stock is off 7.13%, and over the trailing year it has shed 33.3%. Shares recently bounced 9.61% in a single week, but the drawdown from the 52-week high near $58.78 remains substantial.

The catalyst was the May Q3 FY2026 report. Revenue landed at $10.24 billion, missing expectations by 17.75%, while non-GAAP EPS of $0.84 came in 34.51% above consensus. The numbers were flagged as preliminary and unaudited while the Board runs an independent review tied to export-control matters.

Adding pressure: $6.6 billion of cash used in operations during the quarter, $8.8 billion in total bank debt and convertibles, and roughly 15% dilution from a $7 billion equity offering.

Why the Bull Camp Won’t Budge Constructive analysts point to accelerating demand. Preliminary updates cite $60+ billion in new orders, up from the “more than $13B in Blackwell Ultra orders” flagged last fall. Full-year FY2026 revenue guidance sits at $38.9 billion to $40.4 billion, and GAAP gross margin has rebounded to 9.9% from 6.3%.

The bull thesis pointing to 55% upside rests on three ideas. First, the equity raise was an overreaction; underlying AI server demand remains intact. Second, SpaceX’s expansion into the “neocloud” and space-based compute infrastructure provides differentiated growth through an existing supplier relationship. Third, the multi-year backlog converts into high-volume shipments of liquid-cooled AI clusters, the exact product mix CEO Charles Liang has been building toward.

Liang framed it directly on the last call: “Supermicro’s transformation into a total datacenter infrastructure provider is accelerating. Our margin recovery and the rapid growth of our DCBBS business demonstrate that our business remains robust.”

Coverage breaks down as 2 Strong Buys, 3 Buys, 11 Holds, 2 Sells, and 1 Strong Sell. The near-term catalyst is imminent: the Q4 earnings report on August 11, 2026, with consensus looking for roughly $11 billion in revenue and $0.68 in EPS.

Peers Are Ripping While Super Micro Sputters This selloff is company-specific. Two closest peers have run hard while SMCI has drifted, sharpening the company-specific narrative.

Dell Technologies (NYSE:DELL) trades at $453.77 after ripping 263.82% year to date on its AI server backlog. The consensus target of $502.78 implies roughly 10.8% further upside, backed by 5 Strong Buys, 14 Buys, and 8 Holds. Recent revisions have skewed higher, leaving less room to run than SMCI on the same news.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (NYSE:HPE) sits at $53.22, up 123.54% YTD, with a consensus target of $65.56 and about 23.2% implied upside. The coverage split is 4 Strong Buys, 8 Buys, and 10 Holds. That is comparable to SMCI’s implied upside, but without the audit overhang.

Peers already got their re-rating, while SMCI awaits its clearing event.

The Gap Between Price and Target At $31.13 against a $37.81 consensus target, SMCI offers roughly 21.5% implied upside across the 19 analysts covering the name. Year to date the stock is up 6.35%, trailing the S&P 500’s 13.39% gain over the same period.

Valuation looks digestible for this growth rate: trailing P/E of 16 and forward P/E of 10 on forward EPS of $2.53.

Where I Come Down on SMCI The bull case strengthens if the audit clears cleanly, Q4 validates the $60+ billion backlog, and margins hold the Q3 recovery path. That combination hands the bulls the story: unaudited becomes audited, the export-control review closes, and DCBBS-driven shipments push gross margin above 10% as liquid-cooled Blackwell orders convert.

The bear case tightens if the independent review uncovers material issues, cash burn deepens forcing another dilutive raise, or Q4 revenue misses like Q3 did, confirming structural hyperscale pricing pressure.

On balance I lean cautiously constructive. The bull’s 55% target is real but conditional. The consensus $37.81 looks like the more grounded anchor until the audit resolves and Q4 lands.

Super Micro hlásí objednávky za 60 miliard USD
SMCI Super Micro Computer
FMP Stock News 78

Super Micro Computer (SMCI +5.96%) recently told investors something that would normally be considered great news. This producer of high-performance and high-efficiency computer servers said it booked more than $60 billion in new orders in a single quarter.

And yet the stock still trades around $30 per share. That disconnect between order book and valuation is what makes Supermicro (as it is also known) so interesting right now.

In late July, Supermicro released a preliminary update for its fiscal fourth quarter (ended June 30) that focused almost entirely on demand and margins, not just headline revenue. Management said new orders during the quarter exceeded $60 billion, pushing its backlog to a record level as it closed out fiscal 2026.

At the same time, Supermicro guided revenue to come in near the low end of its $11 billion to $12.5 billion-dollar range, but estimated gross margins of 15% to 17%, roughly double the 8.2% to 8.4% it had told investors to expect earlier. For a company that was not long ago seen as a lower-margin box builder, that is a very different story.

Massive server orders are coming in Those orders are not just random server deals. In June, Supermicro announced that it had received huge AI server orders in recent weeks and laid out a plan to raise $7 billion through concurrent equity and equity-linked financing to fund the components needed to fulfill them. The company described this as part of its role as a "Total IT Solution Manufacturer for AI, Cloud, Storage, and 5G/Edge," essentially betting that being early and aggressive in AI infrastructure will matter more than short-term dilution.

To me, the combination of a $60 billion order wave and a financing package sized to meet it suggests customers are not just kicking the tires; they are committing real money to build AI data centers on Supermicro's designs.

So why does the stock still trade at roughly $30 instead of at some nosebleed AI multiple?

Part of the answer sits in the cautious language Supermicro uses in its own update. It explicitly notes that not all of those orders constitute firm commitments and that some may be subject to cancellation or delays. It also discloses that its board is overseeing an independent review of certain transactions related to alleged export control issues, and that its independent auditor has not yet reviewed the preliminary figures. Add in the large equity issuance needed to fund those orders, and you end up with real questions about how much of the current backlog will translate into high-margin, shareholder-friendly cash over time.

In other words, the market is hearing "$60 billion in AI orders" and "much better margins," but it is also hearing "some orders are not binding," "we are issuing a lot of stock," and "there is an internal review going on." That mix of huge opportunity and nontrivial risk is exactly why Supermicro can sit at a multiyear valuation low while quietly holding one of the largest AI server order books on the planet.

Wall Street expects a year-over-year increase in earnings on higher revenues when Super Micro Computer (SMCI - Free Report) reports results for the quarter ended June 2026. While this widely-known consensus outlook is important in gauging the company's earnings picture, a powerful factor that could impact its near-term stock price is how the actual results compare to these estimates.

The stock might move higher if these key numbers top expectations in the upcoming earnings report, which is expected to be released on August 11. On the other hand, if they miss, the stock may move lower.

While management's discussion of business conditions on the earnings call will mostly determine the sustainability of the immediate price change and future earnings expectations, it's worth having a handicapping insight into the odds of a positive EPS surprise.

Zacks Consensus EstimateThis server technology company is expected to post quarterly earnings of $0.68 per share in its upcoming report, which represents a year-over-year change of +65.9%.

Revenues are expected to be $11 billion, up 91.1% from the year-ago quarter.

Estimate Revisions TrendThe consensus EPS estimate for the quarter has been revised 7.71% higher over the last 30 days to the current level. This is essentially a reflection of how the covering analysts have collectively reassessed their initial estimates over this period.

Investors should keep in mind that the direction of estimate revisions by each of the covering analysts may not always get reflected in the aggregate change.

Price, Consensus and EPS Surprise

Earnings WhisperEstimate revisions ahead of a company's earnings release offer clues to the business conditions for the period whose results are coming out. This insight is at the core of our proprietary surprise prediction model -- the Zacks Earnings ESP (Expected Surprise Prediction).

The Zacks Earnings ESP compares the Most Accurate Estimate to the Zacks Consensus Estimate for the quarter; the Most Accurate Estimate is a more recent version of the Zacks Consensus EPS estimate. The idea here is that analysts revising their estimates right before an earnings release have the latest information, which could potentially be more accurate than what they and others contributing to the consensus had predicted earlier.

Thus, a positive or negative Earnings ESP reading theoretically indicates the likely deviation of the actual earnings from the consensus estimate. However, the model's predictive power is significant for positive ESP readings only.

A positive Earnings ESP is a strong predictor of an earnings beat, particularly when combined with a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy), 2 (Buy) or 3 (Hold). Our research shows that stocks with this combination produce a positive surprise nearly 70% of the time, and a solid Zacks Rank actually increases the predictive power of Earnings ESP.

Please note that a negative Earnings ESP reading is not indicative of an earnings miss. Our research shows that it is difficult to predict an earnings beat with any degree of confidence for stocks with negative Earnings ESP readings and/or Zacks Rank of 4 (Sell) or 5 (Strong Sell).

How Have the Numbers Shaped Up for Super Micro? For Super Micro, the Most Accurate Estimate is lower than the Zacks Consensus Estimate, suggesting that analysts have recently become bearish on the company's earnings prospects. This has resulted in an Earnings ESP of -15.56%.

On the other hand, the stock currently carries a Zacks Rank of #3.

So, this combination makes it difficult to conclusively predict that Super Micro will beat the consensus EPS estimate.

Does Earnings Surprise History Hold Any Clue?Analysts often consider to what extent a company has been able to match consensus estimates in the past while calculating their estimates for its future earnings. So, it's worth taking a look at the surprise history for gauging its influence on the upcoming number.

For the last reported quarter, it was expected that Super Micro would post earnings of $0.63 per share when it actually produced earnings of $0.84, delivering a surprise of +33.33%.

Over the last four quarters, the company has beaten consensus EPS estimates three times.

Bottom LineAn earnings beat or miss may not be the sole basis for a stock moving higher or lower. Many stocks end up losing ground despite an earnings beat due to other factors that disappoint investors. Similarly, unforeseen catalysts help a number of stocks gain despite an earnings miss.

That said, betting on stocks that are expected to beat earnings expectations does increase the odds of success. This is why it's worth checking a company's Earnings ESP and Zacks Rank ahead of its quarterly release. Make sure to utilize our Earnings ESP Filter to uncover the best stocks to buy or sell before they've reported.

Super Micro doesn't appear a compelling earnings-beat candidate. However, investors should pay attention to other factors too for betting on this stock or staying away from it ahead of its earnings release.

Super Micro Computer (NASDAQ:SMCI | SMCI Price Prediction) has had a brutal stretch. Shares are down 51.84% over the past year and sit 36% below the 52-week high of $59.40. Despite the pain, our proprietary model sees value emerging.

Our 24/7 Wall St. price target for SMCI is $32.28, implying 13.44% upside from the current $28.46. The recommendation is buy with high confidence at 90%.

24/7 Wall St. Price Target Summary Metric Value Current Price $28.46 24/7 Wall St. Price Target $32.28 Upside 13.44% Recommendation BUY Confidence Level 90% From $59 to $28: What Broke the Story SMCI has fallen 5.65% over the past week, though it is up 2.71% over the past month as buyers step in near lows. Pain centers on two stories. First, cash flow: Q3 FY26 saw operating cash outflow of $6.6 billion and cash reserves fell to $1.29B, down 49.12% YoY. Second, the Board is running an independent review tied to export-control matters, with preliminary results.

The offset is real. Q3 FY26 revenue reached $10.24B, up 122.68% YoY, non-GAAP EPS beat by 34.51%, and gross margin recovered to 9.9% from 6.3%. A new ITC patent investigation over Netlist memory tech has added regulatory overhang heading into the August 11, 2026 Q4 earnings report.

The Case for $42 and Beyond The bull setup is the AI infrastructure ramp. CEO Charles Liang cited $13B in Blackwell Ultra orders and management raised FY26 revenue guidance to $38.9B to $40.4B from $33B.

Preliminary Q4 gross margins track 15% to 17%, well above prior guidance, and new orders reportedly exceed $60B. Seeking Alpha’s Pythia Research recently upgraded from sell to bullish, citing structural margin improvement. Our bull-case price is $42.20, a 48.27% return.

What Could Go Wrong The bear case hinges on cash. The $6.6B operating cash outflow, $8.8B in bank debt and convertibles, and $169M in inventory write-downs raise real balance-sheet risk.

Bulls counter that inventory build reflects aggressive Blackwell positioning, and CFO David Weigand acquired 13,780 RSUs and 30,622 options on May 8. If export-control findings escalate or the ITC investigation restricts memory supply, the bear-case target is $27.

How SMCI Compares to Dell and HPE Dell Technologies (NYSE:DELL) is the most direct competitor. Dell trades at 22x earnings with a 6.5% FCF yield and posted AI-optimized server revenue growth of 757% YoY in Q1 FY27. Against that, SMCI’s 18x P/E looks cheap, but Dell’s 20% gross margin dwarfs SMCI’s 11.06%. The discount is earned.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (NYSE:HPE) offers a growth counterpoint. HPE grew Q2 FY26 revenue 40% YoY with 28.77% gross margin. SMCI outgrows HPE in top line but at meaningfully lower margins. The peer group makes our $32.28 target reasonable.

Company P/E Gross Margin SMCI 18x 11.06% DELL 22x 20.0% HPE N/M 28.77% The Setup Is the Reason to Buy My 24/7 Wall St. price target is $32.28 with a buy rating and 90% confidence. Margin recovery in Q3 FY26 and preliminary Q4 gross margins in the 15% to 17% range are the tipping factor.

I’d buy here if the August 11 earnings report confirms sustained margin expansion and no material export-control findings. I’d stay on the sidelines if operating cash burn continues at Q3’s pace into the new fiscal year.

Year 24/7 Wall St. Price Target 2026 $32.28 2027 $35.50 2028 $38.75 2029 $41.00 2030 $43.49 These projections assume SMCI executes on its DCBBS strategy and Silicon Valley manufacturing ramp. Significant upside or downside could come from Blackwell demand durability or export-control outcomes.

Super Micro má objednávky za 60 miliard USD
SMCI Super Micro Computer
FMP Stock News 78
Original source text
Last Tuesday, Super Micro Computer (SMCI -4.56%), the artificial intelligence (AI) server maker, disclosed that it received more than $60 billion of new orders during its fiscal fourth quarter, which ended June 30. The entire company, as of Friday's close, is valued at about $19.5 billion.

Numbers that lopsided invite a simple conclusion: The market must be asleep. But I don't think it is. The gap between what Super Micro booked and what investors will pay for it is a judgment about how hard it is to turn AI server orders into AI server profits, and about a couple of clouds still hanging over this company.

Let's take a look at what the update actually says.

A quarter of records, with an asterisk The July 21 update was preliminary, ahead of full results scheduled for Aug. 11. But three disclosures stand out.

First, the orders. Super Micro said backlog rose to record levels, with total new orders in excess of $60 billion received during the quarter. And order flow accelerated as the period went on. In early June, the company had announced about $39 billion of AI server orders from more than 20 customers. By quarter's end, the total had grown by more than half again.

Second, the revenue. Super Micro expects fiscal fourth-quarter revenue of about $11 billion, near the low end of a guidance range that stretched to $12.5 billion. So in the same three months it booked $60 billion of orders, it billed about $11 billion. The company said the new orders "are expected to be delivered over future quarters."

Third, the profitability surprise. Gross margin is estimated at 15% to 17%, about double the 8.2% to 8.4% management had guided for, thanks to a favorable customer and product mix. That's arguably an encouraging sign for a business that has historically run on thin server margins. Still, one quarter of mix-driven strength doesn't establish a new normal.

Add it up, and Super Micro just booked roughly five times more business than it billed. Even at a delivery pace of $12 billion a quarter, $60 billion of orders represents more than a year of output -- and that's before counting whatever the company books next.

Why the market pays a third of one quarter's orders So why does a tech company sitting on that much demand trade at about $30 per share, less than half its 52-week high, and at under 16 times earnings -- even with revenue up 56% over the trailing 12 months to $33.7 billion?

In the filing itself, Super Micro cautioned that some of the $60 billion in orders "may not constitute firm commitments and may be subject to cancellation or delays." Orders are not backlog, backlog is not revenue, and revenue is not profit. Each conversion can leak.

Then there's the cost of fulfillment. Building AI servers means buying expensive components upfront -- graphics processing units (GPUs), memory, and the rest -- long before customers pay. That's why June's $39 billion order announcement came paired with a proposed $7.0 billion of equity and equity-linked financing to fund component purchases -- dilution as the price of growth. Converting the larger order book will demand still more working capital.

Today's Change

(

-4.56

%) $

-1.36

Current Price

$

28.45

Finally, there's the biggest cloud. Super Micro's board is conducting an independent review of certain transactions connected to alleged export-control issues, with two independent directors leading the work alongside outside counsel and forensic accountants. The company itself notes the outcome could affect its forecasts, these preliminary results, and even prior-period results. A multiple under 16 times earnings for a company growing this fast is the market pricing that uncertainty in, not ignoring the orders.

For investors, the order book is not the investment case. The conversion rate is. If the Aug. 11 report shows the backlog translating into strong fiscal 2027 revenue guidance (with margins holding up and the review contained), then a $19.5 billion market value set against $60 billion of quarterly bookings will start to look strange, and the stock could rerate quickly. If orders slip, margins revert, or the review deepens, the discount will have been the market's way of being right early.

I wouldn't treat five quarters' worth of booked demand as money in the bank until the company shows how much of it actually converts, and at what margin. Until it does, the market's cautious price at least reflects this uncertainty reasonably well.

Super Micro Computer shares are retreating from recent levels. What’s behind SMCI decline? Nvidia Staffer Held Amid AI Chip Smuggling InvestigationThe case traces back to a March indictment, when the U.S. Department of Justice charged a Super Micro co-founder and two others with helping route billions of dollars’ worth of restricted Nvidia chips to China. Taiwan authorities escalated their own probe in early July, raiding Super Micro’s local offices and detaining two employees.

Critical Technical Levels for SMCI StockFrom a trend perspective, SMCI is still in a longer-term downtrend: it’s trading 12.6% below its 50-day SMA ($32.69) and 14.3% below its 200-day SMA ($33.35), with the death cross that formed in December 2025 still hanging over the chart. The stock is also down 50.36% over the past 12 months, which helps explain why rallies can run into overhead supply quickly.

Near term, the picture is more constructive, with price 3.4% above the 20-day SMA ($27.63) even as it sits just under the 20-day EMA ($28.72), a sign the rebound is still trying to stabilize. The most recent turning points also frame the current range: a swing high formed in June, followed by a swing low in July, and the stock broke below support in July after breaking above resistance in June.

RSI is the cleaner momentum read right now: at 51.98, it’s neutral, suggesting the stock isn’t stretched to an obvious overbought/oversold extreme as it chops around key moving averages. In plain terms, RSI helps gauge whether buying or selling pressure is getting "too crowded," and this reading points to a market still deciding on direction rather than one that’s already overextended.

Key Resistance: $33.50 — a round-number zone that lines up closely with the 50-day/200-day moving-average area, where rebounds can stall Key Support: $25.50 — a nearby floor to watch after the recent July weakness, with buyers previously stepping in around that zone Super Micro Computer Benzinga Edge Scorecard OverviewBelow is the Benzinga Edge scorecard for Super Micro Computer, highlighting its strengths and weaknesses compared to the broader market:

The Verdict: Super Micro Computer’s Benzinga Edge signal reveals a quality-and-value-leaning setup that’s still fighting weak momentum. For longer-term bulls, the technical "tell" is whether the stock can reclaim the $33.50 area; until then, rallies may remain tactical rather than trend-changing.

Chang was later detained after prosecutors argued there was a risk he could flee, destroy evidence or collude with accomplices or witnesses, the prosecutors said.

The servers were equipped with Nvidia chips subject to U.S. export controls, the prosecutors said. These curbs imposed by Washington since 2022 make it illegal for these semiconductors to be exported or sold in mainland China.

Taiwan's Mirror Media reported on Tuesday that the suspect Chang is an Nvidia employee.

Nvidia did not confirm whether the suspect was its employee. In a statement to Reuters, the company said: "We primarily sell our products to well-known partners, including OEMs (original equipment manufacturers), who help us ensure that all sales comply with U.S. export control rules."

EXTENDED ‌PROBE INTO SUPERMICROThe latest action was part of a third round of searches in the investigation, following earlier rounds in May and June.

In May, Taiwanese prosecutors launched the first round, opens new tab, detaining three people suspected of illegally exporting Super Micro's high-end AI servers equipped with restricted Nvidia chips to China.

In late June, Taiwanese prosecutors launched a second round, detaining two Super Micro workers at its Taiwan unit.

In March, the U.S. Justice Department charged, opens new tabthree people associated with Super Micro, including one of its co-founders, with helping smuggle at least $2.5 billion worth of U.S. AI technology to China in violation of U.S. export controls.

Semiconductor powerhouse Taiwan is the world's largest producer of advanced chips used in AI applications.

Taiwan has tightened export controls in recent years to prevent advanced technology and know-how from reaching China, which claims the democratically governed island as its own territory despite Taiwan's strong objections.

Super Micro zvýšila hrubou marži nad odhady

Excitement is building around Super Micro Computer (SMCI -4.38%) as the company recently announced preliminary numbers showing that its margins will be far better than expected for the current quarter. Its latest earnings numbers are set to come out on Aug. 11, and if margins are stronger and the business is still experiencing considerable growth due to artificial intelligence, then odds are, it'll be a fantastic quarter for the company.

Does this mean it's a good time to buy shares of Super Micro?

Low margins have been a big problem for Super Micro Investors should always pay attention to gross profit margins because they can make or break a company's hopes of profitability. Low margins mean the company's cost of goods sold is high relative to revenue, suggesting it may not be charging enough for its products and services. While low margins can still lead to profitability, the company needs to have high sales volumes and lean operations.

In recent years, Super Micro's gross margins have actually been worsening, which is an even more troubling sign for investors. Even though it has been generating more revenue, with lower margins, its bottom line hasn't shown nearly as much improvement.

SMCI Gross Profit Margin (Quarterly) data by YCharts

Last week, Super Micro released preliminary numbers for the fourth quarter (which ended on June 30), and its margins are going to be within a range of 15% to 17%, which is far higher than its guidance of around 8% and where its margins were last quarter (around 10%). It credits the improvement to the customer and product mix.

Is Super Micro's stock likely to soar after earnings? After announcing the preliminary numbers, Super Micro's stock jumped to more than $30 -- the highest level it's closed at since late June. It wasn't a huge rally, and the stock is still only up around 3% for the year, but it is nonetheless a sign of renewed excitement around the business.

While the news is encouraging, it may be wise to wait until after earnings to make a decision. I'd like to see more details about why its margins changed so drastically. The improvement is great, but the big question is whether it's sustainable and a sign of higher margins in the future, or if this will prove to be just temporary.

A single quarter is just that, and without understanding the full reasons behind the gross margin improvement and whether it's likely to continue, investors may still be better off waiting on the sidelines and taking a wait-and-see approach with the tech stock.

Key Takeaways Super Micro Computer launched 10 RDHx models, removing 10-120 kW of heat per rack for AI and HPC workloads.SMCI's RDHx systems fit new and existing data centers with standard rack compatibility and fewer upgrades.Super Micro Computer bundles cooling, servers and software into integrated AI data center solutions. Super Micro Computer (SMCI - Free Report) earlier reported that it is on track to scale rack production capacity to more than 6,000 AI racks per month by the end of fiscal 2026, including 3,000 direct liquid cooling (DLC) racks per month. The company recently announced an expansion of its liquid cooling portfolio to help data centers handle the growing heat generated by AI and high-performance computing (HPC) servers.

SMCI introduced 10 new Rear Door Heat Exchanger (RDHx) models that can remove between 10 kW and 120 kW of heat per rack, with total rack-level cooling reaching 240 kW. The rear door heat exchanger, which is installed in the back of the server rack as a cooling door, uses liquid to absorb and dissipate heat to keep AI servers cool while consuming less energy than traditional air cooling systems.

The new cooling products are part of Super Micro Computer’s Data Center Building Block Solutions, which combine servers, racks, cooling, networking, management software and deployment services into a complete data center solution. Customers can buy an integrated system instead of sourcing components from multiple vendors, simplifying deployment and reducing integration risks.

A key advantage of the new RDHx portfolio is its flexibility. The solutions can be installed in both newly built and existing data centers without requiring major infrastructure changes. They are compatible with standard EIA, ORv3 and NVIDIA MGX racks, allowing operators to upgrade facilities for AI workloads without constructing entirely new data centers.

The cooling systems also include intelligent fan controls, anti-condensation protection and redundant components to improve reliability while lowering operating costs. This is Super Micro Computer’s strategy of offering end-to-end AI infrastructure rather than just servers. As AI clusters become denser and generate significantly more heat, efficient liquid cooling is becoming an essential requirement.

How Competitors Fare Against SMCIThe AI data center market is growing rapidly, with players like Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE - Free Report) and Dell Technologies (DELL - Free Report) already competing with SMCI in this space for greater market share. Hewlett Packard Enterprise offers liquid-cooled HPC and AI servers through its HPE Cray and Apollo systems.

Dell offers liquid cooling architectures through its Apex and PowerEdge platforms. Dell has designed its AI server solutions to be custom and modular by adding both air and liquid cooling features with 24-hour rack deployment turnaround and end-to-end deployment services. These key differentiators make its server easy to deploy, hence encouraging smoother adoption.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise offers a range of servers, including HPE ProLiant, HPE Synergy, HPE BladeSystem and HPE Moonshot servers. Dell Technologies has built the Dell AI Factory in collaboration with NVIDIA. Dell also collaborated with Red Hat Enterprise Linux AI for Dell PowerEdge servers.

The artificial intelligence narrative is fracturing right before our eyes. Over the last two years, the market has focused obsessively on centralized hyperscale training. That phase required sprawling data centers digesting trillions of parameters.

Enterprise IT departments are now discovering the hidden costs of that centralized model. Prohibitive data egress fees, latency bottlenecks, and strict data governance mandates are driving a wave of cloud repatriation. Corporate leaders want to bring their AI models in-house. They are seeking sovereign AI.

Super Micro Computer NASDAQ: SMCI is pivoting to capture this enterprise migration. The company is deploying turnkey hardware that transforms the hardware builder into a high-margin ecosystem provider.

Sovereign AI requires proprietary enterprise data to remain within tightly controlled environments rather than being processed by external cloud hyperscalers.

When a corporation trains or fine-tunes a localized model on its own private data, sending that data back and forth to a centralized public cloud incurs a significant financial burden. Cloud providers charge data egress fees every time information leaves their servers. Over time, for persistent inferencing workloads, these fees can cannibalize the return on investment.

We are watching a structural shift in the physical economy. Major consumer and industrial brands are moving away from the cloud toward localized infrastructure. As recently exemplified by Starbucks NASDAQ: SBUX, retail operators are realizing that running localized algorithms for inventory management or customer behavior modeling is more cost-effective when executed on-premise or at the network edge.

This transition creates a severe technical challenge. Historically, localized deployment required specialized on-site IT engineering teams to manage storage arrays and compute clusters. Retail stores and factory floors simply lack the physical space or engineering talent to maintain traditional server racks.

To make the shift to sovereign AI, businesses need infrastructure that acts like an appliance. They need to plug it in, turn it on, and let it run autonomously.

The Kubernetes Cure: Healing the Localized Storage HeadacheThis acceleration toward localized AI frames Super Micro Computer's recent product launch. SMCI unveiled a turnkey Kubernetes Edge AI appliance in direct collaboration with Red Hat OpenShift and Portworx. This is not another bare-metal server box, but rather a fully validated, self-healing infrastructure solution.

By utilizing Kubernetes, enterprises ensure their containerized models remain cloud-agnostic. This capability allows businesses to migrate computing power to localized clusters without fracturing their core application architecture.

SMCI is bridging the gap for companies looking to exit the cloud by offering an off-ramp that works right out of the box. Portworx provides a software-defined, aggregated local storage layer that operates autonomously. If a network outage hits a retail location, the local data platform heals itself and keeps the inferencing workloads running without requiring a frantic call to a remote IT team. The integration of Red Hat OpenShift provides the enterprise-grade management layer.

From a fundamental perspective, this appliance alters SMCI's value proposition. Commodity server hardware is inherently vulnerable to pricing wars and severe margin compression. By bundling bare-metal hardware with premium enterprise software, SMCI captures integration value that previously leaked to third-party system integrators. SMCI can defend and expand its gross margins, charging a premium for the convenience and reliability of a fully integrated edge ecosystem.

Valuation Disconnect: Buying the Artificial Intelligence DipDespite this formidable product pipeline, the market has heavily discounted SMCI. Shares have contracted by 30% over the last 30 days, pushing the trailing price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio down to just 15. Bearish sentiment has aggressively accelerated, with short interest swelling to roughly 19% of the public float. A low days-to-cover ratio of 1.2 to 1.9 indicates high liquidity, largely a residual benefit of the 10-for-1 stock split executed in October 2024.

This elevated short positioning relies heavily on the narrative that Super Micro Computer is burning through cash to secure components. The primary target of market skepticism is the $7 billion equity and equity-linked financing initiative announced in early June 2026. Critics view this capital raise as a sign of financial strain. However, a pragmatic look at the balance sheet reveals a different story.

The capital is structured to finance component procurement for an estimated $39 billion AI server order backlog. Financing a $39 billion backlog is not a sign of weakness, but instead a signal of SMCI's moat.

Competitors cannot easily replicate the capital intensity required to fulfill enterprise demand at this scale. While short sellers are betting that SMCI will struggle with margin compression and share dilution, institutional entities are accumulating shares.

The deployment of high-margin edge appliances offers the specific catalyst needed to drive upward earnings revisions. If the edge pivot succeeds in expanding net margins beyond the current 3.70%, that heavy bearish positioning could easily unravel in a short squeeze scenario.

The Forward Edge: Claiming the Throne in Localized ComputeThe underlying demand for the hardware layer of the computing supercycle remains fully intact, but the market is heavily segmented. We can see a distinct divergence in valuation multiples when comparing Super Micro Computer to legacy competitors.

Dell Technologies NYSE: DELL is currently the primary competitor in the hardware server market, with shares up roughly 20% over the trailing 30 days. Dell Technologies recently raised its full-year revenue guidance on the back of $16.13 billion in optimized server revenue. The market applies a significant premium to Dell Technologies, trading at a forward P/E near 25x while yielding a recently increased dividend. Similarly, Hewlett Packard Enterprise NYSE: HPE has rebounded nicely, supported by growth in its networking segment.

SMCI is currently trading at a steep discount to these peers, presenting an intriguing dynamic. SMCI is battling formidable competition and absorbing the broader market premium, yet its engineering velocity and modular architecture provide a distinct fundamental edge.

Coupling rapid hardware deployment with validated, plug-and-play Kubernetes environments establishes a highly compelling offering for organizations executing cloud repatriation strategies. Key Takeaways Super Micro Computer earned over $1B in nine-month net income but used $7.6B in operating cash.Receivables hit $8.4B, inventories reached $11.1B, and the cash conversion cycle rose to 106 days.SMCI sees fourth-quarter gross margin at 8.2-8.4%, making DCBBS crucial to capturing more value. Super Micro Computer (SMCI - Free Report) is chasing explosive AI-driven revenue growth, while its rising working-capital intensity is something to look at. During the first nine months of fiscal 2026, the company generated more than $1 billion in net income but consumed $7.6 billion in operating cash.

Since June 2025, accounts receivable increased from $2.2 billion to $8.4 billion, while inventories surged from $4.7 billion to $11.1 billion. The cash conversion cycle also nearly doubled sequentially to 106 days. Therefore, it is important to monitor whether receivables and inventory normalize as delayed AI deployments come online or whether heavy working-capital requirements are becoming structural.

Margin sustainability is another critical aspect. SMCI’s non-GAAP gross margin recovered to 10.1% from 6.4% sequentially. However, the company expects it to fall back to 8.2-8.4% in the fourth quarter. Large AI customers generate enormous volumes but also possess significant pricing power.

One customer alone represented 27% of third-quarter revenues, making the customer mix a major determinant of profitability. For SMCI, the success of Data Center Building Block Solutions (DCBBS) will therefore be crucial. By bundling servers with cooling, power, networking, software and services, SMCI aims to capture more value from each deployment and improve margins.

However, investors need clearer evidence that DCBBS is materially changing the company’s economics. SMCI also faces stiff competition as the AI data center market is likely to grow at an unprecedented pace throughout 2026 and 2027.

How Competitors Fare Against SMCIBig players like Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE - Free Report) and Dell Technologies (DELL - Free Report) are competing with SMCI in this space.

Dell Technologies is a major supplier of servers and storage systems, with a broad customer base across enterprises and cloud providers. Its scale, established distribution and service offerings give it an edge in winning large contracts. However, Dell Technologies has not grown as quickly as SMCI in AI-specific systems; its ability to bundle hardware with services makes it a strong rival.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is also expanding aggressively into AI and high-performance computing. Its GreenLake platform provides customers with flexible, cloud-like consumption models, which can be attractive to enterprises. Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s focus on hybrid cloud and AI workloads positions it as a direct competitor in areas where SMCI is seeking growth through its DCBBS strategy.

SMCI’s Price Performance, Valuation and EstimatesShares of Super Micro Computer have lost 3.6% year to date against the Zacks Computer – Storage Devices industry’s growth of 280.7%.

Super Micro padá o 36 %, trh pochybuje o kvalitě výsledků
SMCI Super Micro Computer
FMP Stock News 72
Original source text
Shares of Super Micro Computer (NASDAQ:SMCI | SMCI Price Prediction) are changing hands at $26 and change midday on Tuesday, capping a punishing stretch that has left the stock down 36% over the past month. The AI server maker has become the clear laggard of the datacenter hardware group, even as spending on AI infrastructure continues at a record pace.

For contrast, Hewlett Packard Enterprise (NYSE:HPE) stock is down 11% over the same stretch, while Dell Technologies (NYSE:DELL) stock has actually gained 7%. That three-way divergence has opened up a striking valuation gap and revived the debate over whether Super Micro Computer stock is a bargain or a classic value trap.

The core question for investors: does a P/E ratio near 14x reflect genuine mispricing, or the market’s growing skepticism about the durability of Super Micro Computer’s AI-server earnings?

What’s Behind the Selloff The pressure intensified after Super Micro Computer reported its Q3 FY2026 results on May 5. Non-GAAP EPS of $0.84 beat estimates, but revenue of $10.24 billion came in missing expectations, and the company noted results were preliminary and unaudited pending a board review.

Retail sentiment turned sharply negative in June. A WallStreetBets thread titled “SMCI dropped 28% today” drew over 2,242 upvotes, and Reddit sentiment scores for Super Micro Computer stayed in bearish territory through the balance of the month.

The pattern in the sentiment data was notable. Even as Super Micro Computer shares kept falling, dip-buying chatter never materialized, suggesting retail investors were treating the decline as risk-off rather than opportunity.

Peers Tell a Different Story Dell Technologies stock has surged 237% year to date, powered by $16.13 billion in AI-optimized server revenue last quarter and a $24.4 billion AI order backlog. Dell Technologies stock trades at a P/E ratio of 34x, a premium the market has been willing to pay for scale and execution.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise stock is up 83% year to date on the strength of the Juniper integration, with server revenue climbing 33% last quarter. Hewlett Packard Enterprise stock now trades at a P/E ratio of 41x, the richest multiple in the group.

Act now: the analyst who called NVIDIA in 2010 just named his top 10 AI stocks — and Dell Technologies didn't make the cut. Grab the names FREE today.

Super Micro Computer stock, by contrast, is down 9% year to date despite comparable exposure to the same AI capex wave. The valuation spread against Dell Technologies and Hewlett Packard Enterprise is now wide enough to force a decision.

Value Prospect or Value Trap? The bull case for Super Micro Computer is straightforward. Shares have already absorbed a heavy round of bad news, the P/E ratio sits well below peers, and Q3 FY2026 revenue still grew 123% year over year. CEO Charles Liang asserted that “Supermicro’s transformation into a total datacenter infrastructure provider is accelerating,” pointing to margin recovery and new U.S. manufacturing capacity in Silicon Valley.

The bear case is equally credible. Super Micro Computer’s gross margin sits at 11%, thin for a hardware maker, and AI servers are commoditizing as Dell Technologies and Hewlett Packard Enterprise press their scale advantages. A cheap multiple can stay cheap for a long time if the market questions earnings quality, and Super Micro Computer stock carries a beta of 1.94, meaning volatility cuts both ways.

Investors considering a contrarian entry should consider keeping their position sizes modest given the swings in Super Micro Computer stock and the concentrated risks in its customer base and margin profile.

What to Watch Next The setup is genuinely mixed. Super Micro Computer offers the cheapest exposure in the group to AI infrastructure spending, but the discount exists for reasons the market has been pricing in over months. Whether that gap closes depends largely on execution.

The next catalysts are Super Micro Computer’s Q4 FY2026 results and any update on the board’s independent review. Investors can watch for whether SMCI shares hold recent lows at $26 into the next earnings report, and whether guidance in the $11.0 billion to $12.5 billion range can be defended without further margin compression.

The four workers were among six people questioned earlier this week when Taiwan's Keelung District Prosecutors' Office said it had launched a second round of searches in the probe.

The six people were questioned over alleged document forgery and breach of trust, it said, adding searches were conducted at 12 locations, including the homes of six suspects and the offices of three companies.

The companies searched were Super Micro Taiwan, Albatron Technology (5386.TWO), opens new tab, Super Micro's distributor in Taiwan, and Chief Telecom (6561.TWO), opens new tab, a data centre operator.

In a letter to customers issued in the United States on Wednesday, Super Micro Chief Revenue Officer Matthew Thauberger said the four employees had been questioned on June 29 in connection with what he described as a Taiwanese investigation regarding the company's sale of products to a technology company in Taiwan.

"Two of the four employees have been detained pending a hearing, and the other two have been released on bail," Thauberger wrote in the letter.

"Super Micro is not a target of this investigation," ‌he said, adding that the company had been working with Taiwanese authorities for several months.

Thauberger said the company had provided Taiwan authorities access to the employees' desks and electronic devices and had immediately placed all four employees on administrative leave, pending the outcome of the investigation.

In May, Taiwanese prosecutors launched the first round of the investigation, detaining three people suspected of illegally exporting Super Micro's high-end AI servers, equipped with the Nvidia chips. Those three remain in detention.

In a statement issued in May, Super Micro said it had been cooperating with Taiwan authorities in an investigation into the alleged diversion of its AI servers to the restricted Chinese market. The cooperation had led to the seizure of 50 servers, the company said, adding that they had been deceptively acquired after being sold to an authorised reseller.

In March, the U.S. Justice Department charged three people associated with Super Micro, including one of its co-founders, with helping smuggle at least $2.5 billion worth of U.S. AI technology to China in violation of U.S. export laws.

Super Micro Computer (NASDAQ:SMCI | SMCI Price Prediction) stock is down 8% to $28.15 in Monday afternoon trading after Taiwan authorities raided the company’s offices on the island as part of a widening investigation into alleged smuggling of NVIDIA (NASDAQ:NVDA) AI chips into China. The raid marks a significant escalation in Taiwan’s enforcement of chip export controls.

The move extends a difficult stretch for Super Micro Computer, which is now down 39% over the past month. NVDA is trading modestly higher, up 1%, with the chip designer relevant here only because its AI accelerators sit at the center of the probe.

The raid marks one of Taiwan’s most visible export-control actions to date and reintroduces regulatory risk that investors had hoped was contained to earlier disclosures. Shares of Super Micro Computer reacted sharply on the news.

Taiwan Raid Reignites Export-Control Worries According to reports from Bloomberg and Stocktwits, Taiwan’s Keelung District Prosecutors Office searched the residences of six individuals and the sites of three affiliated companies, with Super Micro Computer’s Taiwan office among the locations. Taiwanese data center operator Chief Telecom and Super Micro distributor Albatron Technology were also raided, with Albatron saying in an exchange filing there was no financial or operational impact.

The action builds on arrests in May, when three individuals were detained on charges of falsifying export documents tied to Super Micro servers carrying NVIDIA AI chips. Prosecutors allege the group sent at least one batch of NVIDIA chips to China via Japan and attempted to export around 50 servers that authorities seized before they left Taiwan.

Super Micro Computer has previously said it is cooperating with Taiwanese authorities, and being searched is part of an ongoing probe rather than a finding of wrongdoing. Still, the company’s Q3 FY2026 filing already flagged that results were preliminary and unaudited because the board is conducting an independent review of certain transactions related to export-control issues.

A Familiar Pressure Point for SMCI Stock Today’s slide deepens a tough run for Super Micro Computer shareholders. Super Micro Computer posted Q3 FY2026 revenue of $10.24 billion, up 123% year over year (YoY). The growth story has been overshadowed by a $8.8 billion debt and convertible note load and the regulatory cloud.

Wolfe Research captured the tension earlier in the month when it initiated Super Micro Computer stock at Peer Perform, citing “potential governance/regulatory risks stemming from a legal indictment related to illegal AI server shipments to China.” That framing now looks prescient given the new searches.

Don't wait: the analyst who called NVIDIA in 2010 just revealed his top 10 AI stocks. See the full list FREE now.

CEO Charles Liang has continued to lean on the growth narrative, stating that “Supermicro’s transformation into a total datacenter infrastructure provider is accelerating.” The market response on Monday suggests investors want more clarity on compliance before re-rating Super Micro Computer stock.

Sector Context and Sentiment NVIDIA shares aren’t following SMCI lower, but the smuggling probe fits into a broader theme of tightening AI chip export enforcement. NVIDIA has already excluded China data center compute from its forward guidance, and Taiwan is reportedly weighing whether to criminalize AI chip exports to China, which would hand prosecutors more leverage.

Retail sentiment turned sharply negative on Super Micro Computer as the headlines broke. Reddit sentiment trackers on r/WallStreetBets registered very bearish readings of 18 during the initial reaction window, before stabilizing in the 25 to 28 range by the next morning.

What to Watch Next Investors can watch for whether Super Micro Computer issues a fresh statement on the Taiwan searches and whether the company’s independent board review yields updated findings ahead of the next earnings report. Headline-driven volatility in SMCI stock may persist while the probe expands.

For now, NVIDIA stock continues to trade on its own demand fundamentals. At the same time, Super Micro Computer stock carries the compliance risk that the broader AI hardware complex has so far avoided.

The next scheduled catalyst is Super Micro Computer’s estimated earnings report on August 4, in which management may be asked to address export controls directly. Shareholders should consider keeping their SMCI position sizes modest given the regulatory overhang and the company’s elevated debt load.

SMCI představila novou architekturu pro Nvidia Vera Rubin
SMCI Super Micro Computer
FMP Stock News 78
Original source text
Super Micro Computer SMCI shares are ripping higher this morning after the AI server specialist unveiled its Data Center Building Block Solutions (DCBBS) Blueprint optimized for next-gen architecture.

As investors reacted to the update at the ISC 2026 conference in Hamburg, Supermicro soared past its 50 and 100-day moving averages (MAs), signaling bullish momentum could be sustained in the near term.

SMCI stock has been a volatile investment in recent weeks – currently down some 30% versus its year-to-date high in early June.

Supermicro’s new architecture is built directly on the Nvidia Vera Rubin NVL4 platform.

Speaking at the said conference in Germany, management confirmed that the liquid-cooled rack solution scales up to an immense 1,152 NVDA Rubin GPUs and 576 NVDA Vera CPUs.

Deployments are locked in for the back half of this year to align with Nvidia’s general availability, giving investors a concrete, cutting-edge roadmap.

“Scientific discovery has always been driven by tools available to researchers, and AI has become an essential part of the research process. The institutions that accelerate infrastructure deployment will lead the next generation of breakthroughs,” CEO Charles Liang noted.

Note that despite the recent pullback, SMCI shares remain up some 70% versus their year-to-date low.

Supermicro stock is extending gains on Jun. 22 also because GF Securities upgraded the artificial intelligence company to “Buy” with a $48 price target, indicating potential upside of another 40% from current levels.

According to analyst Evan Lee, the recently announced $7 billion capital raise that triggered a big sell-off in SMCI has created an incredibly attractive entry point.

The Nasdaq-listed firm is currently going for a forward price-to-earnings (P/E) multiple of about 14x only.

In his research note, Lee explicitly highlighted SMCI’s major role as an OEM supplier of NVL72 systems for SpaceX’s massive “Colossus 2” data centers.

GF Securities expects SpaceX to aggressively scale deployment orders starting in Q4, prompting them to upwardly revise the company's NVL72 rack shipment forecasts to 7.2k for this year and 12k for FY27 (implied sales of $24 billion and $51 billion, respectively).

Supermicro shares had been under brutal pressure throughout June after announcing its massive capital raise to fund its $39 billion AI server order backlog.

With the financing package now officially closed and completed, the looming fear of further near-term dilution is off the table.

Investors are shifting focus back to execution and structural demand rather than capital shortfalls.

That said, Wall Street analysts don’t really share GF Securities’ optimism on SMCI.

The consensus rating on Super Micro Computer currently sits at “Hold” only, with the mean price target of just under $36 indicating a lack of meaningful upside from current levels.

Super Micro Computer (SMCI 1.02%), which also goes by just Supermicro, has been a polarizing stock to own over the years. It has been generating strong sales growth due to robust demand for its servers, which tech companies have been loading up on as they invest heavily in artificial intelligence. But with concerns about margins and question marks about its governance and leadership, it hasn't exactly been a hot stock to own; it's down 18% over the past 12 months.

Trading around $34 on Tuesday, the stock is down significantly from its 52-week high of $62.36, set last year, and its valuation looks low relative to earnings. Is it a steal at its current price, or are you better off avoiding the troubled tech stock?

Supermicro's growth is impressive, but its margins are not In its most recent quarter, which covered the first three months of the year, Supermicro's net sales totaled $10.2 billion, which was more than double the $4.6 billion it reported a year ago. That kind of growth would normally send a stock soaring, but that hasn't been the case with Supermicro.

The problem with Supermicro is that although it's generating strong top-line growth, with poor margins, there isn't much room for error.

SMCI Gross Profit Margin (Quarterly) data by YCharts

In its most recent fiscal year (which ended June 30, 2025), the company's revenue rose by 47% to nearly $22 billion, but its net income actually declined by 9%, to just over $1 billion. The company effectively needs to grow at a fast pace and keep its overhead and operating expenses under control in order to generate significant growth on the bottom line.

The stock may look cheap, but it's not worth buying Supermicro stock trades at 11 times its estimated future earnings (based on analyst estimates). It's a cheap-looking valuation, but investors have long valued the stock at a discount due to its risk. Its auditor quit the company back in 2024, raising concerns about its controls and procedures. Earlier this year, multiple people connected to Supermicro, including its co-founder Yih-Shyan Liaw, were charged with violating U.S. export laws and sending Nvidia chips to China.

There are simply many reasons to avoid the stock. Between question marks about its governance, low margins, and dependence on continually high investments in the tech sector, the stock is full of risk, which is why it trades at a discount; it's not the bargain it appears to be. There are far better options out there for tech investors.

By understanding how physical data center bottlenecks are shifting, investors can see where real value accumulates in the hardware stack. The physical limits of silicon compute are no longer defined solely by transistor density; thermal dissipation has become a primary operational bottleneck.

Get Super Micro Computer alerts:

As hyperscalers deploy next-gen architectures, the companies that can deliver pre-built, liquid-cooled infrastructure at scale are changing roles. They're no longer just assembling hardware; they're becoming essential system architects.

And that change is exactly why Supermicro's recent financing pressures have opened up an unusual gap between the stock's price and its underlying business.

How Supermicro Defeated the Post-Offering FreezeOn June 11, 2026, Super Micro Computer, Inc. priced a massive $7 billion concurrent offering of common stock and mandatory convertible preferred stock. Short-term traders reacted with panic, triggering a 15% dilution-driven selloff that shaved 28% off the market price.

Super Micro Computer, Inc. (SMCI) Price Chart for Wednesday, June, 24, 2026

However, this immediate knee-jerk reaction missed the operational reality driving the capital raise. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filings reveal that Supermicro is utilizing these net proceeds to procure critical components for a colossal $39 billion in active AI server orders. This backlog represents high-conviction commitments from over 20 major hyperscale customers.

The capital expansion doesn't signal financial distress; instead, it secures the supply chain runway needed to fulfill unprecedented physical demand. Recognizing this mismatch, analysts at GF Securities upgraded Supermicro from a Hold to a Buy rating on June 22, 2026, setting a target price of $48. This upgrade suggests the market has fully absorbed the dilution, clearing the path for Supermicro to convert its massive inventory backlog into record-breaking revenue in the second half of the year.

Freezing Out Rivals With Turnkey Thermal BlueprintsAt the ISC High Performance conference in Hamburg on June 22, Supermicro introduced its new Data Center Building Block Solutions (DCBBS) blueprint. The platform integrates up to 1,152 NVIDIA NASDAQ: NVDA Rubin GPUs and 576 Vera CPUs based on the new NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL4 architecture.

The engineering breakthrough lies in the thermal management system. The blueprint deploys DLC-2 Direct Liquid Cooling technology, supporting 362 kW per rack. Utilizing direct-to-chip copper cold plates, vertical manifolds, and specialized SMC PG25-A coolant, the system prevents the thermal throttling that degrades performance in high-density server farms.

Competitor Dell Technologies Inc. NYSE: DELL is targeting this space with the PowerEdge XE8812, which scales to 144 GPUs per rack. However, Supermicro maintains a speed-to-market advantage. Global assembly facilities perform full system-level and cluster-level testing prior to shipment. This integration reduces the time-to-online for supercomputing centers, transforming Supermicro's business relationship with hyperscalers from simple hardware acquisition into long-term infrastructure architecture.

Chill Valuation: Why Supermicro's Earnings Growth Is Too Hot to IgnoreSupermicro's valuation has compressed to an attractive level. The company trades at a trailing price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 18x and a forward P/E of 16x. This stands in stark contrast to its fundamental growth trajectory, as Supermicro reported a year-over-year (YOY) revenue increase of 122.7% in its latest quarterly earnings report.

This severe valuation gap has caught the attention of institutional option traders. On June 22, option volume spiked to 583,277 contracts, with call options accounting for 81.1% of the total. Buyers focused heavily on the $40 strike call options expiring on June 26, 2026, signaling expectations for a rapid upward move.

Simultaneously, short sellers are beginning to capitulate.

Short interest has declined from 81.2 million shares to 74.5 million shares, though it still represents 14.39% of the free float. Any positive earnings surprise could easily trigger a violent short squeeze. It's a setup that mirrors the dynamic at NVIDIA, which trades at an attractive forward P/E of roughly 23x despite growing its revenue by 85% YOY. The temporary weakness in both equities presents a highly favorable risk-reward profile for growth-oriented investors.

Balancing Liquid Growth Against Competitive FrictionWhile the growth story is compelling, prudent investors must weigh several structural risk factors before allocating capital. The competitive landscape intensifies as Dell and Hewlett-Packard Enterprise Company NYSE: HPE aggressively expand their direct liquid-cooled offerings. Dell recently generated $16 billion in AI server revenue in a single quarter, proving it possesses the scale and balance sheet to compete on price.

Supermicro also faces persistent margin compression. Its gross margin is 8.39%, reflecting the high cost of sourcing advanced graphics processing units (GPUs). A massive operational cash burn of $6.6 billion underscores the capital-intensive nature of this expansion cycle. Meanwhile, NVIDIA deals with short-term headwinds, including a copyright lawsuit filed on June 22, 2026, by music platform Jamendo, and minor price compression in cloud GPU rental rates. Navigating these risks requires focusing on companies with rapid inventory turnover and superior manufacturing execution.

Cold Calculations: Capitalizing on the Coolest Turnkey Play in AIThe transition toward liquid-cooled AI infrastructure is an ongoing trend, not a short-term hype cycle. By securing $7 billion in capital to fulfill a $39 billion order book, Supermicro is aggressively positioning itself to capture dominant market share. Investors with a higher risk tolerance might consider adding Supermicro to their watchlists as short-term dilution pressures continue to fade. Those seeking a more conservative entry point may prefer to build a gradual dollar-cost averaging position to mitigate short-term macro volatility while participating in the long-term expansion of the accelerated compute economy.

Key Takeaways SMCI used about $6.6B in operating cash flow in Q3 fiscal 2026 versus $24M in the prior quarter.SMCI's cash conversion cycle jumped to 106 days as inventory levels and working capital needs SMCI held nearly $11.1B in inventory and recorded $239.3M in write-downs during fiscal 2026. Super Micro Computer’s (SMCI - Free Report) cash flow and working capital profile weakened significantly in the third quarter of fiscal 2026. The company reported cash flow used in operations of approximately $6.6 billion during the quarter compared with only $24 million used in the previous quarter. The deterioration was due to a large reduction in accounts payable and continued inventory buildup.

SMCI’s cash conversion cycle increased sharply to 106 days in the third quarter of fiscal 2026 from 54 days in the prior quarter, while days inventory outstanding rose to 106 days from 63 days. These trends indicate rising working capital intensity and execution risk as SMCI scales its AI infrastructure business. If customer deployment timelines continue to shift or collections slow further, the company may face additional liquidity pressure.

Super Micro Computer continues to face inventory-related risks tied to the rapidly evolving AI hardware market. The company recorded inventory valuation adjustment write-downs of approximately $239.3 million during the first nine months of fiscal 2026, largely related to older-generation GPUs and components.

While management stated that newer AI platforms such as NVIDIA GB300 NVL72 and AMD MI350/355 are ramping aggressively, elevated inventory levels remain a concern. The company had nearly $11.1 billion in inventory at the end of the third quarter of fiscal 2026, up from $10.6 billion in the previous quarter.

Such a sizable inventory position could lead to additional write-downs or working capital pressure if customer demand or technology cycles shift unexpectedly. Furthermore, SMCI also faces stiff competition from larger players.

How Competitors Fare Against SMCIThe AI data center market is likely to grow at an unprecedented pace throughout 2026 and 2027. Big players like Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE - Free Report) and Dell Technologies (DELL - Free Report) are competing with SMCI in this space.
