Groves was privately financed, built on private land and assembled using commercially sourced systems alongside components manufactured by OKLO. This approach gives the company practical experience in engineering, construction, commissioning, operations and regulatory authorization.

Management believes the systems, supplier relationships and operating programs developed through Groves can be applied to future projects, potentially lowering execution risk and improving deployment timelines. The DOE’s pilot framework also allowed construction and organizational-readiness work to advance alongside regulatory reviews while maintaining strict safety oversight.

OKLO’s Groves authorization also highlights the broader momentum building across the advanced nuclear sector, as developers move from design and testing toward licensing, deployment and commercial operations. Several publicly traded companies are pursuing distinct reactor technologies and target markets within this emerging industry.

Other Companies Advancing Nuclear Technology

Nano Nuclear Energy (NNE +4.57%), as its name suggests, is designing microreactors. Picture, for a second, a nuclear reactor packed into a shipping container. That, in an image, is what Nano is trying to accomplish.

The company isn't earning commercial revenue from its reactors yet, nor does it have an NRC-approved design. As such, it's very much an early-stage nuclear company with high ambitions and plenty of "unknowns" that could ruin them.

The near-term path for this nuclear stock will be more turbulent than comforting -- risk-tolerant investors only at this point -- but if you can hold fast without letting go, this nuclear stock could be a long-term winner, possibly even growing 15 times by 2040.

How could that happen? Let's run a quick scenario. Let's assume Nano has 70 million shares outstanding (it currently has about 52.1 million, but dilution will likely happen). If those shares were worth about $250 apiece, the company would carry a $17.5 billion market cap. Now, supposing Nano trades at 5 times annual sales, then its annual revenue would need to be about $3.5 billion.

Great, you might think, the back-of-the-envelope math checks out. But, practically speaking, could Nano's annual revenue grow to $3.5 billion by 2040?

It's not outlandish, but operationally it would be ambitious. Indeed, several things would need to go right. Its microreactors would need to clear regulatory hurdles, and deployments would need to become routine. The company would also need to advance its transportation and fuel-related operations, plus rake in recurring revenue from services and consulting work.

Suppose, purely for illustration purposes, that Nano recognized $100 million in revenue from each reactor deployment. To reach $3.5 billion, it would need to deploy about 35 reactors a year. That doesn't mean it needs 35 customers; its reactors are so small that a single project could deploy a dozen or more units. A handful of big projects could, therefore, carry Nano most of the way toward the revenue needed to support a multibillion-dollar valuation.

Don't get me wrong: Nano isn't a safe stock, and the volatility might make the least risk-tolerant investors uneasy. Aggressive investors who want exposure to advanced nuclear and AI energy might want to proceed; however, more risk-averse investors might be more interested in a nuclear energy exchange-traded fund (ETF).

Building upon this milestone, NANO Nuclear and Fortil expect to commence preliminary design activities, where the validated engineering approach is further developed through increased analytical detail, subsystem integration, and engineering refinement.

This engineering milestone follows significant recent regulatory progress for the KRONOS MMR™. Earlier this year, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission ("NRC") formally accepted the Construction Permit Application for deployment of the KRONOS MMR™ at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign for review and subsequently initiated formal review activities, providing additional clarity regarding the anticipated licensing schedule. Nano Nuclear Energy Is Paying Up to $13 Million to Acquire This Nuclear Logistics Company. Here's Why Investors Shouldn't Overlook This Small Deal.

Nano Nuclear Energy (NNE +5.42%) is a nuclear energy company that wants to build small, portable nuclear power systems. It does not yet have commercial reactors in operation, yet its flagship microreactor design, called KRONOS, is moving through the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regulatory process and is tied to a University of Illinois project.

That's a decent elevator pitch for the nuclear stock, but it doesn't really do justice to what this company is trying to accomplish. In addition to building portable microreactors, the company also aims to control parts of the nuclear reactor infrastructure, such as fuel transportation. To that end, Nano may have just pulled off one of its most strategically important moves of 2026.

Let's take a look.

A critical piece of the nuclear puzzle purchased In late May 2026, Nano acquired Secured Transportation Services (STS), a profitable nuclear logistics company with 21 years of experience moving radioactive and nuclear materials.

Nano agreed to pay up to $13 million for STS, which is about 1.8 times the logistics company's trailing sales (about $7.1 million in 2025). STS also reported a net income of about $1.3 million, with net margins of roughly 18%.

At first glance, those numbers might produce little more than a half-shrug of indifference. So what? A million and some change in profits is hardly a drop in the bucket for a company whose first microreactor is expected to cost between $300 million and $350 million. Nano reported a net loss for 2025 of about 30 times that $1.3 million ($40 million in fiscal 2025).

So, no, the deal isn't going to unleash a fire hose of cash on Nano's balance sheet. But there are much subtler reasons why this acquisition was critical to Nano's business, and they all revolve around the vertical integration model Nano is seeking to establish.

What you have to remember is that transportation in nuclear is not like ordinary trucking. Moving nuclear fuel and waste commercially requires more inspections, security protocols, rules, requirements, approvals, and route planning than putting a bunch of goods on the highway and telling the driver where to go. This is especially true of "spent fuel," or fuel that's already been used in reactors, as fuel at that stage is highly radioactive.

In this regard, STS' current operations could come in handy. According to Nano, STS "currently holds approval for more than 90% of the active U.S. NRC approved spent fuel routes in the United States."

Obviously, operating on nine out of 10 of the NRC-approved spent-fuel routes can help Nano's operations directly. It could also become a profit-making machine. In fact, it could transport fuel for utilities, government agencies, nuclear fuel suppliers, and even Nano's competitors. The business could, in short, grow with a broadening nuclear industry, even if Nano's KRONOS reactors haven't yet turned on the revenue spigot.

Don't get me wrong, though. If Nano wants to become a major, or even a nontrivial, player in the advanced nuclear space, it needs to commercialize its reactors. But I like where management's thought process is. With the stock currently trading more than 40% lower year to date, this could be an attractive entry point for risk-tolerant long-term investors.

Nano Nuclear Energy (NNE 1.92%) is a company that, as its name suggests, wants to build a very tiny nuclear reactor, so tiny it could fit on a semi-truck. If you've ever seen how much land a traditional nuclear power plant takes up, then you, too, might be amazed at the kind of Honey, I Shrunk the Kids feat Nano is trying to pull off.

Like other nuclear energy companies making small and microreactors -- Oklo, for instance -- Nano is currently operating in the uncomfortably slow beginning stages of pre-regulatory existence. There's no telling when Nano will get the NRC's blessing to commercialize its reactors, but most estimates point to a two-year waiting period before Nano's revenue growth becomes something.

Nano stock has been trading lower on the year, but a recent $13 million acquisition might give this pre-revenue nuclear stock a bright star in its immediate future.

I'm talking, of course, about Secured Transportation Services (STS), a profitable company specializing in the conveying of nuclear and radioactive materials, which Nano acquired at the end of May 2026. Considering that Nano wants to transport its reactors, as well as participate in the fuel supply chain, this move was a very smart first step toward building that broader nuclear ecosystem.

With STS, Nano can start generating revenue, adding a little cushion to its already robust liquidity of $569 million.

Even so, there's no guarantee that Nano will succeed in commercializing its reactors; even if it does, scaling production will be costly and lengthy. But as power demands from AI data centers escalate, the market opportunity for Nano may be large enough to overcome today's risks.

I wouldn't recommend Nano to the risk-averse, but those with a greater tolerance for volatility might want to consider a small position for the long-term gains it could deliver.

Nuclear stocks have been the surprise story of this cycle, and few names carry a bigger swing factor than Oklo. After a violent run to nearly $200 last October and an equally sharp reset this year, the setup is unusually asymmetric. Our proprietary model says the reset went too far.

That confidence reads as moderate, appropriate for a pre-revenue name with a wide outcome cone but real regulatory traction.

Yet the operating story improves: the DOE approved the Documented Safety Analysis for the Groves Isotope Test Reactor on July 1, 2026, targeting first criticality this month, and a $67 million institutional bullish options bet drew CNBC coverage on July 9.

Why Bulls See A Breakout Ahead The bull case is straightforward: Oklo has a 14 GW customer pipeline, a binding 1.2 gigawatt Meta agreement in Ohio, a Centrus Energy HALEU LOI, and the Creative Engineers acquisition that internalizes sodium-cooled reactor expertise.

Aurora at Idaho National Laboratory targets commercial power by late 2027. The bull scenario points to $170.23, a 245.49% return, if AI power demand and NRC velocity hold.

What Could Go Wrong The bear case is real. Oklo remains pre-revenue with a $73.62 million FY2024 net loss, and Guggenheim initiated coverage in June with a Hold and a $54.06 target, projecting EBITDA positive only by 2030. Short interest sits at $1.65 billion, or 19.29% of float.

Act now: the analyst who called NVIDIA in 2010 just named his top 10 AI stocks — and Oklo Inc. didn't make the cut. Grab the names FREE today.

Reported losses are inflated by roughly $12.5 million in stock-based compensation, and R&D spend nearly tripled year over year, reflecting deliberate investment in the platform. The bear case still lands at $81.11, above the current quote.

How Oklo Compares To NuScale And Nano Nuclear The two cleanest US-listed comps are both pre-commercial SMR pure-plays. NuScale Power (NYSE:SMR) is the only SMR with NRC design certification and carries a market cap of roughly $3.1 billion. Its Q1 2026 revenue collapsed 95.8% to just $565,000 as one-time contracts rolled off, and it trades at a Price-to-Book near 3x.

Nano Nuclear Energy (NASDAQ:NNE) is a smaller microreactor developer at a $1 billion market cap with fewer commercial anchors than Oklo. Against that field, Oklo’s $8.3 billion market cap looks premium, but so does its execution: binding hyperscaler agreements, DOE safety approval, and a defined 2027 delivery target. Our $98.56 target looks reasonable relative to peers still searching for their first binding customer.

Oklo Price Prediction 2026-2030 Buy, target $98.56, confidence 50%. The tipping factor is the divergence between price action and operational milestones. The setup fits investors who can tolerate 30% drawdowns while regulatory catalysts play out into 2027. Nano Nuclear Energy (NNE +2.16%) isn't a normal nuclear company. It doesn't operate nuclear power plants, nor does it have plans to start generating electricity anytime soon.

Instead, it's operating in the new "advanced nuclear technology" space, which aims to make nuclear reactors smaller, cheaper, and easier to deploy. These reactors -- many still years from commercialization -- have an edge over traditional power plants. Not only do they deliver continuous, 24/7 power, but they can be assembled near where the power is needed.

That "co-location" with customers is why they seem like ideal companions for AI data centers, which is one reason Bank of America expects small reactor technology to grow into a multitrillion-dollar opportunity. So, Nano certainly has the kind of unique selling proposition that, in hindsight, might make investors wish they had gotten in early.

But can Nano really deliver on that potential -- and should investors jump on the nuclear stock today? Let's take an honest look.

How could Nano Nuclear realistically mint new millionaires from here? Nano is designing portable (and stationary) microreactors. Its flagship product, Kronos, is currently making its way through the approval process of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's (NRC). The company also wants to participate in the nuclear supply chain, from fuel services to transportation, making it a vertically integrated company.

The path to success appears straightforward. For Nano stock to truly become a millionaire maker, the company needs to pass the NRC process with flying colors, finish its first reactor construction at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, use the impeccable success of that first reactor to draw in paying customers, then monetize the other parts of its business -- like transportation and fuel -- while it waits for revenue from reactor sales.

Well, at this point, almost everything. First, the NRC regulation process could stall, or take longer than expected. Future reactor projects could take much longer to execute than originally predicted -- this is very common with nuclear projects -- or the costs could be higher than anticipated. There could be fuel constraints or other supply chain disruptions. These challenges could cause the company to raise additional financing, which could dilute shares for existing holders.

To be sure, these are just my speculations. My point, however, is that too many open questions exist to call Nano a strong buy right now; it has the potential to become a millionaire maker, but it also has the same potential to flop.

Should you buy Nano Nuclear stock? At the end of the day, Nano is trying to create a full operating system for microreactors. That is going to take time, and investors should plan for plenty of obstacles, hiccups, and setbacks along the way. I would not buy Nano if volatility makes you uneasy, or if your time horizon isn't long enough to reap the benefits of this company's long-standing work.

If, however, you want exposure to microreactor technology, buying a few shares of Nano at today's price could be worthwhile over a long period. Just understand what Nano is right now -- a mostly pre-revenue nuclear company without a commercialized reactor yet -- and exercise prudence in measuring your position.

Nano Nuclear Energy (NNE 6.51%) stock has seen better market days.

Indeed, at one point in the recent past, this nuclear energy stock traded over $55 a share. Today, the stock has dropped almost 70% from that high and currently trades at a 52-week low of around $18.

Yet this was a stock that, just a short while ago, was given a bullish price target of about $45 a pop from an analyst at Roth Capital. At today's price, that would imply roughly 150% upside.

Volatility for Nano, which lacks a commercialized reactor, is to be expected. After all, the stock is highly speculative: Its main product -- the microreactors it's designing-- doesn't have regulatory approval, and meaningful revenue could be years away.

The risks surrounding Nano, combined with general market uncertainty concerning the future of artificial intelligence (AI), have certainly depressed the stock. And yet for patient, long-term investors, this could be an opportunity to gain exposure to the emerging microreactor industry at an attractive price -- one that could, over time, grow your money tenfold or more.

How Nano Nuclear Energy could grow tenfold from here It's not completely outlandish to imagine, with an open mind, a tenfold gain in Nano at today's price. On paper, at least, it seems generously in the realm of possibility.

At today's price, around $19 a share, Nano has a market cap of $960 million -- about $1 billion if we round up. A tenfold gain would bring that to $10 billion, with a share price of about $190.

How much revenue would Nano need to generate to sustain a $10 billion market valuation? If we assume Nano eventually trades at a price-to-sales (P/S) ratio of about 10, which would still imply expectations for immense growth, it would need roughly $1 billion in annual revenue to support a $10 billion market cap.

That's not an exorbitant amount, but to Nano it's an Everest-sized goal, as the chart implies.

What's not represented in the chart, I don't think, is Nano's acquisition of Secured Transportation Services (STS), which generated about $7 million in revenue in 2025.

That's not $1 billion. But it does highlight something that's often missed: Nano wants to create multiple streams of revenue. In addition to electricity sales from microreactors, it wants to also bring in cash from nuclear fuel fabrication and transportation. This vertically integrated business model could be the reason Nano ultimately generates more revenue than currently expected.

Even so, Nano needs a commercialized reactor, and it hasn't passed the NRC regulatory process with a certified design. It's not clear how much it will cost to build microreactors, nor whether customers will ultimately embrace the novel technology.

Nano stock has the potential to grow tenfold, but don't confuse potential with certainty. Plenty of risks remain, not the least of which is getting NRC approval. If you want direct exposure to the new microreactor industry, Nano isn't a stock to ignore; yet for those who would rather spread that risk over multiple companies, a nuclear energy exchange-traded fund (ETF) might be the more prudent choice.

It wants to be in control of the nuclear energy supply chain, from deploying microreactors (like its KRONOS design), to establishing a nuclear fuel fabrication business, to transporting that fuel commercially.

For Nano Nuclear Energy to become a millionaire-maker, three things have to go right. The first two are obvious: commercializing its nuclear reactors and building up its fuel and transportation businesses.

The third is something not entirely in Nano's control. For this company to succeed, microreactors have to be widely adopted everywhere, from data centers to military bases to mining sites. That means the costs of building microreactors and the timelines of deploying them have to be both competitive and short enough to attract strong demand.

More than likely, Nano's microreactors will not be cost-effective everywhere. Rather, they'll likely be more effective in very remote regions where other power sources, like diesel generators, are already expensive.

If Nano fails to win these regions, or if other factors delay deployment -- such as construction costs ballooning beyond estimates, or bottlenecks in nuclear fuel supply -- Nano's growth would be stunted. That's not to say the company would fail without substantial microreactor sales. Its fuel fabrication and transportation businesses could still be highly successful, assuming nuclear energy as a whole keeps growing. However, the stock likely won't become a 100-bagger without strong revenue growth from microreactor sales.

As such, I wouldn't treat Nano stock as a millionaire-maker. Rather, it's a highly speculative play on a nascent, but exciting, opportunity in nuclear power. Wealth from the upside could be life-changing, but underwhelming performance due to slipshod execution could just as easily leave investors with disappointing returns.

It's a non-binding agreement, but the strategic logic is sound. Data centers need power that doesn't go down. Microreactors can be co-located at the facility. And unlike a power purchase agreement tied to the grid, on-site nuclear generation gives operators direct control over their energy supply.

There’s one small problem. Nano Nuclear isn’t generating a dime of revenue. The company’s products are still in the trial stages. And there’s a lack of clarity over when the company will be able to get through the arduous regulatory process. NNE estimates its KRONOS licensing application will be processed between 2026 and 2031, with commercial launch targeted for the early 2030s.

By itself, that shouldn’t disqualify investors from owning NNE. However, the stock is down sharply from October 2025 levels, and short sellers continue to add friction to the bull case.

Investors Are Getting a Second Entry PointIn addition to being a pre-revenue company, Nano Nuclear has only been trading publicly since May 2024. The stock went nuclear (pun intended) along with the rest of the sector. However, like the sector, NNE has fallen sharply since October 2025.

That said, the stock is settling around its 50-day simple moving average (SMA) and appears to be consolidating on slightly higher volume. Momentum is down, which could make this a good opportunity for long-term investors to get in with less volatility.

Most nuclear timelines slip. James Walker, CEO of Nano Nuclear Energy (NASDAQ:NNE), says his will not. He expects construction permission in 2027 and a fully licensed, net-power-producing commercial reactor by 2030. That is an audacious promise from a pre-revenue startup, and the market is still figuring out what to do with it.

I’ve been tracking NNE for about eight months now, and what stands out is how rare it is to see a pre-revenue nuclear name commit to a hard date in public — most peers hedge every milestone.

What Walker Actually Said Walker laid out a sequence of milestones. Nano Nuclear is one of only five commercial companies to have submitted a construction permit application to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, distinct from the roughly dozen companies participating in the Department of Energy’s reactor pilot program. Geotechnical drilling on the site has been completed and submitted. The NRC piece already has a paper trail: the agency formally accepted the construction permit application for the KRONOS microreactor on May 29, 2026, kicking off a multi-year safety and environmental review, with initial construction expected at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign site in mid-to-late 2027.

Walker also took a swing at competitor Antares. He called its criticality demonstration meaningful but fundamentally different, saying that "to take a reactor critical at a zero-power reactor" is a different exercise than running "a full-scale, fully operational, net-power-producing reactor system that’s commercially licensed." Translation: zero-power criticality is a lab benchmark; a commercially licensed plant selling electrons is a different beast.

The AI Power Argument Walker’s pitch leans hard on hyperscaler demand. Microsoft, Meta, Amazon, and AWS are chasing nuclear because upgrading grid infrastructure to meet AI demand would require roughly $5 trillion. For hyperscalers that want off-grid, zero-downtime, clean baseload, Walker said nuclear is the only viable option, citing that "the highest capacity factor of all energies is nuclear" and that data centers can tolerate "minutes, maybe less" of annual downtime.

The math lines up with federal projections. The EIA’s High Electricity Demand case shows data center server electricity use growing more than 16 times the 2020 level by 2050, reaching 818 billion kilowatthours. Bloomberg energy reporter Will Wade noted that many hyperscalers are hedging by placing bets across multiple energy technologies, needing only one to pay off. That hedging behavior is exactly the demand backdrop NNE is selling into.

What the Market Is Pricing NNE trades at $25.17 as of June 15, 2026, with a market cap around $1.2 billion and a beta of 5.04. The shares are down about 28% over the past year and down 14% over the past month, even as the broader nuclear narrative has gotten louder. Analyst consensus sits at a $46.67 target with three buys and one hold.

Fundamentals look like a story stock. Revenue TTM is $0, EBITDA is negative $44.97 million, and diluted EPS is -$0.68. The recent Secured Transportation Services acquisition, valued at up to $13 million, adds $7.1 million in 2025 revenue and $1.3 million in net income, plus access to more than 90% of active NRC-approved spent fuel routes. NNE also signed an MOU with Super Micro Computer on June 13, 2026, to develop joint go-to-market strategies pairing microreactors with AI server infrastructure.

The Insider Tell Believers should reconcile the bullish narrative with what executives are actually doing. Under pre-arranged 10b5-1 plans, CEO James Walker sold roughly $3.28 million in shares, President and Chairman Yu Jiang sold about $19.9 million, and CFO Jaisun Garcha sold roughly $985,617. These were pre-planned sales tied to RSU vesting. They are a data point worth weighing against a 2030 promise.

Bringing It Back Walker’s 2030 claim only works if the NRC moves on schedule, the Illinois site breaks ground in 2027, and a hyperscaler signs an actual offtake. If you believe AI compute needs clean baseload more than anything else, NNE is one of the few public names with a permit application already accepted. If you think nuclear timelines always slip, the 346% five-year gain already prices in a lot of patience. The promise is on the table. The receipts are due in 2030.

While Nano Nuclear deserves credit for submitting a construction permit for its Kronos reactor, there's no certainty it will succeed in commencing commercial operations -- let alone recognizing a profit from them if it does.

Founded in the early 2020s, Nano's ambitions, however, extend beyond designing and building reactors: It wants to participate in the nuclear supply chain, from fuel fabrication to fuel transportation to deploying reactors. That vertical integration could, one day, dig a deep moat: Customers might prefer a company that will not only build a reactor, but also supply the fuel to go with it.

Nano has several microreactor designs, each named after a god or titan of antiquity. There's Kronos MMR, a small stationary reactor; Zeus, a portable microreactor designed to fit in a shipping container; and Loki MMR, which Nano has discussed as being potentially deployable for space.

The most bullish speculators are envisioning a future in which nuclear power can be a source of clean, round-the-clock electricity to data centers, which can't afford the risks of downtime, power outages, or grid failures.

It's a powerful narrative, but it's a story that hasn't materialized outside the imagination. Several nuclear stocks, including Oklo (OKLO 6.01%) and NuScale Power (SMR 6.63%), have also seen brief periods of explosive growth with that same story billowing their sails. None of these three small reactor developers was beating S&P 500 (^GSPC +0.34%) in the first half of 2026, and only one (NuScale) has an NRC-approved reactor design.

The only way Nano can begin succeeding is by bringing a safe, certified microreactor to the market. In that regard, the company has taken big steps, but it could be a few years away from powering up its first reactor. If it does succeed, a sizable investment in Nano today could reinforce a portfolio of winning stocks, setting you up for a good future. That's a big "if," however, and the risks of Nano failing are just as likely right now as its successes.

Nano Nuclear is one step closer to building an advanced microreactor prototype Earlier this month, Nano Nuclear achieved a milestone when the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) formally accepted its Construction Permit Application (CPA) for its proprietary KRONOS micro modular reactor (MMR). By accepting the CPA, the NRC indicates that the filing contains sufficient data to proceed with more detailed evaluations.

Nano Nuclear's KRONOS MMR is a factory-fabricated, transportable high-temperature gas-cooled microreactor. This microreactor is promising for data centers or industrial operators looking to leverage nuclear energy independently of the power grid. With the NRC's acceptance of its CPA, KRONOS becomes the first commercial advanced microreactor to reach this stage.

Next up for Nano Nuclear is navigating a dense regulatory landscape. The company expects the NRC's technical review to continue through 2027 and hopes to receive a construction permit by the second half of the year. From here, the company can begin on-site nuclear construction at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

The company is laying the groundwork for its future with its recent acquisition In addition to its CPA, Nano Nuclear is building a vertically integrated business that spans not just microreactors but also the fabrication and transport of the fuel. In May, Nano Nuclear's subsidiary acquired Secured Transportation Service for $13 million, including $6 million in cash and $7 million in restricted shares.

This gives Nano Nuclear a company with 20 years of nuclear transportation experience, and also helps it start generating revenue today. Company management has also told investors they are considering additional mergers, acquisitions, and strategic supply partnerships explicitly to secure raw fuel pipelines and reactor components.

Nano Nuclear is still in its very early stages Despite Nano Nuclear's progress, investors buying the stock today need to be patient and maintain a long-term outlook. That's because the company still faces long timelines for regulatory reviews, construction, and deployment of its technology at commercial scale, all of which will require significant capital.

The company plans to make additional acquisitions and has filed a Form S-3 shelf registration statement with the SEC, which permits it to issue up to $900 million in various classes of securities over three years. Within this is a $400 million at-the-market equity offering program, which allows it to issue shares directly into the open market, thereby diluting current investors.

Given the company's long path to operation (the first KRONOS reactor isn't expected to be operational until the 2030s), those buying today will be investing in a high-risk, very early-stage company in the developing nuclear microreactor industry.

With power-hungry tech like artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing, the clean, round-the-clock power that nuclear can supply has rarely looked more relevant.

Broad exposure to nuclear energy -- such as through an exchange-traded fund (ETF) -- is one way to play this new resurgence. Another is to handpick the nuclear energy stocks yourself. With that in mind, these three stocks are well positioned to grow as the broader industry does.

1. Oklo Oklo (OKLO 6.01%) is an advanced nuclear company that's designing small fast-fission reactors with complementary fuel recycling.

That's a mouthful of technical jargon, so let me break it down like this: Instead of a sprawling nuclear power plant, Oklo would like to deploy smaller reactors that can supply 24/7 power while using fuel more efficiently.

Early on, Oklo had the backing of Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, and more recently, it has signed agreements with companies including Equinix (EQIX 1.17%), Switch, and Meta Platforms (META +0.05%) to supply power to data centers.

Oklo still needs regulatory approval to deploy reactors to commercial customers; as such, it hasn't scaled its technology nor proven it can operate reactors on a large scale. The stock is early-stage with plenty of execution risks, yet could be a big winner in the era of AI.

2. Nano Nuclear Energy Nano Nuclear Energy (NNE 4.27%) is another early-stage nuclear energy company working through the NRC regulatory process.

Like Oklo, Nano is designing microreactors. Unlike Oklo, however, which is focused primarily on building and deploying reactors, Nano aims to become vertically integrated. In nuclear energy, that would mean participating in multiple parts of the supply chain, from developing reactors and fuel to transporting nuclear materials.

Another difference from Oklo is that Nano has several microreactor designs, not just one. Indeed, along with a portable reactor design, Nano is developing a space microreactor (Loki) that could be deployed for deep-space missions or extraterrestrial environments.

For what it's worth, the Trump administration has also been interested in putting a nuclear reactor on the moon to supply power to human bases. Although Nano has not been named a partner, successful deployment of a reactor could create more interest and, eventually, more opportunities.

3. NuScale Power NuScale Power (SMR 6.63%) is developing a small modular reactor (SMR). Unlike Oklo and Nano, however, NuScale's SMR design -- two, in fact -- has been approved by the NRC.

The challenge facing NuScale isn't regulatory, but commercial. So far, the first mover in SMR technology hasn't inked a firm sale of its reactor technology. Its commercial partner, ENTRA1, has helped open the door to a potential first U.S. customer in the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), which is interested in deploying 6 gigawatts (GW) of NuScale's technology. NuScale's SMRs are also expected to be deployed for a power plant project in Romania.

Even with two projects in its near future, NuScale has a lot to prove, not the least of which is deploying a reactor on time and within budget. That could take years -- its first reactor probably won't go online until after 2030 -- and revenue growth may be limited until then.

Nano Nuclear Energy (NNE 4.27%) is an advanced nuclear company whose ambitions coincide with a new trend on Wall Street: small modular reactors (SMRs), or, as Nano calls them, microreactors.

Long overshadowed by Oklo and NuScale Power, Nano's cheaper market valuation and regulatory progression has been drawing attention to Nano's suite of reactor designs. The stock has been gaining momentum over the last month, in spite of no real change to the obstacle stymieing its progress: a lack of regulatory approval.

With a market cap of $1.3 billion and a price between $26 and $27, should long-term investors take advantage of this opportunity, or should they wait for more concrete progress?

Let's take a look.

Nano's opportunity is enormous, but so is the wait Nano Nuclear is one of the most ambitious novel nuclear energy companies in operation today.

Its goal, aside from certifying its microreactor designs, is to build a vertically integrated nuclear business. That means not just constructing and deploying microreactors but also participating in fuel fabrication and transportation, as well as other parts of the nuclear supply chain.

If it can pull it off, the company's business could look a bit like this: It will deploy microreactors wherever they are needed, whether that's a data center in a rural area, a military base, or even a lunar or deep-sea operation. Revenue could eventually come from selling the electricity generated by these reactors, likely under long-term purchase agreements (PPAs) with customers.

Although microreactors have yet to be deployed at scale, companies are already biting. In May, Super Micro Computer (SMCI 1.11%) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Nano to explore the integration of microreactors with the former's AI infrastructure. That isn't, to be sure, a commitment to buy. But the early partnership demonstrates how interest in this technology could readily expand to other contracts once Nano's designs are certified.

On that front, Nano expects to begin construction of its first KRONOS micro modular reactor (MMR) in the second half of 2027. This, however, depends entirely on a smooth progression of regulatory approvals. The reactor is planned for construction at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, about a hundred miles from the site of the first nuclear reactor in the U.S., the Chicago Pile-1 at the University of Chicago.

Nano has minimal revenue, but a substantial cash and equivalents pile of about $569 million. Even if it burned through $100 million a year -- currently more like $30 million to $40 million -- it could last five years without needing a fresh injection.

Recently, an analyst at Roth Capital set a $45 price target, implying roughly 73% upside from today's $26-ish price.

Nano has the potential to become a significant supplier of electricity, but that potential could take a decade or more to manifest. By that time, the energy landscape could look very different, perhaps to the point of diminishing Nano's most exciting prospects now. Given the uncertainty, this is still a stock for aggressive investors, those who want to take a calculated risk investing in a nascent industry. Those with less risk tolerance may want to look at a nuclear energy exchange-traded fund (ETF) with Nano as a holding.

"AI is becoming an energy story as much as a technology story," Walker said. "The conversation is shifting from ‘how much compute can we build?' to ‘where does the power come from?'"

AI Power Demand AI power demand sits at the center of NANO Nuclear's collaboration with Super Micro, which Walker said could eventually support a more integrated approach to AI data center development. 

Rather than treating power procurement and compute infrastructure as separate challenges, the companies are exploring a model where both are planned together from the start.

"AI infrastructure and power infrastructure are becoming inseparable," Walker said. "Historically, a data center developer would secure land, build the facility, and then hope the grid could support the project in time. That model is starting to break down as AI power demand accelerates."

Walker said AI data centers have become a focus for NANO Nuclear because of the scale and reliability requirements involved. Many facilities require massive amounts of continuous electricity, and grid constraints are already forcing some operators to wait years for sufficient capacity.

"The speed at which AI infrastructure is expanding has created a very real conversation around whether power availability itself becomes the limiting factor for growth," Walker said.

Microreactors for Data CentersNANO Nuclear sees microreactors as a potential solution for developers seeking dependable, on-site power. 

Walker said renewables and batteries have roles to play, but intermittency and duration limits can make them difficult fits for hyperscale AI workloads that require near-constant uptime. 

Natural gas can provide reliable power, but faces emissions concerns, fuel price volatility and infrastructure limitations.

"Microreactors are compelling because they can provide stable, carbon-free baseload power directly on-site, independent of grid congestion, while also reducing exposure to many of those infrastructure bottlenecks," Walker said.

A New Compute + Power ModelThe Super Micro collaboration could eventually point toward a bundled "compute plus power" model for AI customers. 

Walker said combining nuclear power systems with server infrastructure, cooling systems and deployment expertise could create a more streamlined path for companies building new AI campuses.

"From the customer's perspective, that could eventually evolve into a far more streamlined solution where the power source and the AI infrastructure are designed as one coordinated platform rather than two separate projects competing against each other on timelines," Walker said.

While AI data centers are a major focus, Walker said NANO Nuclear continues to see opportunities across remote communities, mining, defense, industrial operations and critical infrastructure.

Still, the Super Micro partnership gives NANO a clearer opening into the AI infrastructure market.

"For us, the collaboration with Supermicro represents more than just a technology partnership," Walker said. 

"It's an opportunity to position NANO inside the broader AI infrastructure ecosystem early, before this market fully matures."

NNE Price Action: Nano Nuclear Energy shares were up 6.50% at $26.71 at the time of publication on Friday, according to Benzinga Pro data.

Picture a nuclear power plant -- the conventional kind, with huge bell-shaped cooling towers, a domed building containing the reactor core, and so many pipes, generators, and electricity lines. Your eyes don't know what to look at first.

Now, picture that sprawling power plant condensed into a box that can fit on the back of a semi truck. That is the kind of portable microreactor Nano Nuclear Energy (NNE 7.62%) is trying to commercialize.

A portable nuclear reactor is exciting for two reasons. First, it can be transported pretty much anywhere, from remote military bases to data centers. Second, nuclear energy is zero-carbon; it doesn't emit greenhouse gases.

This could all make Nano an obvious fit for AI data centers, which need clean, reliable, always-on power. It's no surprise that Nano has recently entered a memorandum of understanding with Super Micro Computer to develop microreactors for data centers.

Nano is currently moving through the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's (NRC's) regulatory process for its microreactor design. The company recently celebrated a major win: Its construction permit for the deployment of a microreactor at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign was accepted by the NRC. While it hasn't quite made it out of the NRC's process yet, it now anticipates breaking ground on its first reactor in the second half of 2027.

A $10,000 investment in Nano would be risky -- very, very risky -- and could result in a significant loss. It could also lead to a life-changing sum of money. A tenfold gain from today's price would raise its market cap to about $12 billion, turning that $10,000 into a six-figure sum.

That's not impossible, but the company still faces execution risks; there's no guarantee it can scale up its reactor commercially. It also faces competition with other energy companies vying for AI data center clients, like Bloom Energy and Oklo.

As such, Nano is a high risk, high reward play on nuclear power. At this point, only very aggressive investors should consider opening a small position in this nuclear energy stock.

On the first-quarter earnings call, management pointed to potential support from both Japanese and Korean investment frameworks aimed at funding strategic U.S. industries, including nuclear power and AI infrastructure. ENTRA1 was named in the $550 billion U.S.-Japan investment framework, which could help support financing for the TVA project. South Korea has also proposed a $350 billion investment push into U.S. strategic industries, including nuclear energy, AI and semiconductors.

NuScale does face financing, execution and timeline risks. But the TVA opportunity is the company’s biggest commercial breakthrough yet. If successful, the project would validate years of regulatory work, supply-chain investment and commercialization efforts.

Oklo and NANO Nuclear Push Commercial Deployment PlansOklo Inc. (OKLO - Free Report) is also advancing commercialization efforts in the emerging advanced nuclear market. Last year, the company broke ground on its first Aurora powerhouse project at Idaho National Laboratory under the DOE’s Reactor Pilot Program and is targeting initial operations in late 2027 or early 2028. Oklo has also benefited from rising AI-driven power demand themes, with Meta expanding a planned Ohio deployment vision to 1.2 gigawatts under a power agreement structure designed to support early-stage development. Nano Nuclear Energy (NNE 7.62%) stock soared 12% through 11:40 a.m. ET Tuesday after announcing it has just acquired a subsidiary that generates actual revenue -- and is profitable to boot.

Considering Nano Nuclear itself currently generates no revenue, this is pretty big news for the start-up manufacturer of small modular (nuclear) power reactors.

What Nano Nuclear just bought The company Nano just bought, Secured Transportation Services LLC, specializes in the safe, secure, and compliant (with safety regulations) movement of radioactive and nuclear materials. It's a perfect match for Nano, which is planning to build and transport nuclear reactors and fuel in the future!

The price Nano paid is also pretty nice.

Nano will pay $6 million cash and $7 million in stock for its new subsidiary -- $13 million total. In exchange, it gets a nuclear specialist with 20 years of experience, $7.1 million in annual revenue, and $1.3 million in annual net profit. That works out to a purchase price of 10 times annual earnings, and only 1.8 times sales.

When you consider that Nano itself currently trades at infinity times both earnings and sales, it's an obvious bargain. For that matter, if you look five years into the future, and see S&P Global Market Intelligence forecasting Nano with only $16.3 million in revenue in 2030, but costing nearly $1.6 billion today... well, that means Nano has a very forward price-to-sales ratio of nearly 1,000.

And 1.8x sales today is a lot cheaper than 1,000x sales five years from now.

Since 2025, Bloom's marquee client list has grown stronger due to high demand from AI data centers. Bloom inked its biggest deal with Brookfield Asset Management at the end of 2025, a $5 million agreement to deploy Bloom's servers for the asset manager's AI factories. STS served as the DOE's prime logistics contractor for a major international campaign involving the transfer of approximately 1.7 metric tons of HALEU from Japan — announced by the NNSA as the largest single international uranium shipment in its history — along with the transport of six Type B spent nuclear fuel casks to the DOE's Savannah River Site in Aiken, South Carolina.

The campaign required coordinated international licensing, maritime transport, port operations, security planning, customs coordination, and final overland delivery to U.S. destination facilities. Venezuela HEU Removal Support

The stock market has, through geopolitical conflicts and jittery bubble-fearing uncertainties, once more proven its tenacity and resilience. 2026 has been anything but stable, yet the S&P 500 has clocked an almost 9% gain thus far.

Once again, artificial intelligence (AI) stocks are crushing it, with AI spending expected to hit $2.5 trillion -- roughly the GDP of Canada. The enthusiasm for AI has helped companies even remotely peripheral to the technology, from nuclear stocks supplying the energy to industrial stocks mining for the metals.

Looking ahead over the next 10 or so years, these trends suggest that the following two growth stocks have significant upside potential.

1. A company with enough metals to make 280 million electric vehicle batteries TMC The Metals Company (TMC 3.59%) is on the cusp of unlocking a multi-billion opportunity in the deep sea. The metal company and deep-sea miner has exploratory rights to the Clarion-Clipperton Zone (CCZ) in the Pacific Ocean, where a lode of roughly $24 billion sits in the form of polymetallic nodules.

Nodules -- rocks, bones, fragments of shells that have accumulated the ocean's natural elements over millions of years -- contain four metals crucial for making batteries, including nickel, cobalt, copper, and manganese. Although the company has historically positioned itself as a metal supplier for electric vehicles, copper found in these nodules could be used for cables, transformers, and other parts in data center infrastructure.

TMC doesn't have regulatory approval to mine the nodules, but that may change soon. The U.S. government has been supportive of deep-sea mining, and it recently determined TMC's application was in full compliance. The company estimates it will begin operations in late 2027 -- a major advancement that could send this $5 stock soaring.

2. A truckload of nuclear power Nano Nuclear Energy (NNE 7.62%) is essentially shrinking a nuclear power plant down to the size of a small garage to make it portable on the bed of a semitruck.

The start-up is one of several "novel" nuclear energy companies, including Oklo (OKLO 4.36%) and NuScale Energy (SMR 7.10%), that want to make nuclear power cheaper and faster to build, with far less footprint than the average nuclear power plant.

Deploying a mini nuclear power plant on a truck has obvious advantages for the AI era, specifically for data centers. These energy-guzzling facilities are popping up everywhere -- and not always where grid power is abundant. Even President Trump has told tech companies to build their own power plants to avoid raising energy prices for consumers.

Nano doesn't have regulatory approval to deploy reactors commercially, but it is participating in government programs that could speed up the process.

3 Nuclear Stocks Worth Buying as the World Scrambles for Reliable Power

Two decades ago, nuclear energy seemed, according to conventional wisdom, to be the product of the bygone Atomic Age. Today, nuclear energy has reemerged as potentially one of the most important power sources of the artificial intelligence (AI) era.

It can be hard, however, to separate fact from fiction, especially when many of the stocks trading today seem driven by speculation and narrative rather than fundamentals. Some of the nuclear stocks I'm about to name -- including Oklo (OKLO 4.36%) and Nano Nuclear Energy (NNE 7.62%) -- have tailwinds strong enough to make a bull case seem obvious and self-evident.

The following three nuclear energy stocks will appeal to different investors -- some to those with more risk tolerance, and some to others who are more aggressive.

1. Cameco Cameco (CCJ 7.08%) is one of the largest uranium providers in the world, and the largest publicly traded uranium miner. Together with Kazakhstan's Kazatomprom (the world's largest uranium producer), the two companies produced roughly 50 million pounds of uranium in 2025 -- roughly 86% of the total output among the world's top seven uranium miners.

Why does Cameco's size matter? Because every nuclear dream runs through it. We can spend all day debating whether Oklo, NuScale, Nano, or some other nuclear start-up will dominate the future. But if more reactors get built, somebody has to supply the uranium. For North America, that somebody is most likely Cameco.

But Cameco's business doesn't stop at mining. It also has a 49% stake in Westinghouse Electric. Fun fact: Westinghouse supplied the reactor technology to the world's first-ever full-scale commercial nuclear power plant. But that's not the fun fact I was referring to.

Westinghouse -- with Cameco and Brookfield Renewable Partners, which owns the other 51% of Westinghouse -- entered into an $80 billion partnership with the U.S. Department of Commerce to build Westinghouse reactors across the U.S.

With uranium demand expected to climb, this is a good uranium stock to hold for the long term.

2. Nano Nuclear Energy Nano Nuclear Energy is developing small nuclear reactors that can fit on the back of a semi truck.

It's also developing its own supply of high-assay, low-enriched uranium (HALEU), a special kind of fuel that many advanced reactors need. Plus, the company's recent acquisition of Secured Transportation Services has given it a foothold in one of the least glamorous, but no less important, parts of the nuclear fuel cycle: moving the stuff from A to B.

Previously pre-revenue, this acquisition has finally put some dollars (about $7 million in annual revenue) into Nano's very large story. It has also helped Nano move that much closer to the vertically integrated business model that it aspires to create.

Nano is also developing a portable microreactor for space. Given NASA and the Department of Energy's recent interest in developing nuclear power on the moon (and possibly Mars), Nano's expertise in this field could be a future tailwind just waiting to be turned on.

3. Oklo Like Nano, Oklo is developing a small nuclear reactor (Aurora powerhouses). These powerhouses can supply 15 to 75 megawatts (MWs) of electricity apiece, and can be assembled together to support larger power needs, such as those of data centers, industrial facilities, and other remote operations.

The company had early backing from OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, and the connection with companies developing artificial intelligence has deepened through partnerships with some of its biggest players. Meta, Equinix, and Switch are some of the names comprising its potential customer backlog of 14 gigawatts (GW).

Oklo is currently working its way through the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's licensing process for its commercial powerhouse. Oklo has said its first commercial reactor could begin operations in late 2027 or early 2028, but no hard date has been set yet. Meanwhile, a nearer-term test looms: demonstrating criticality of its pilot reactor before America's 250th birthday on July 4, 2026.

Early connections with tech companies, combined with the White House's support for more nuclear power, made Oklo a market favorite in 2025. The stock is currently trailing the stock market in 2026, though the company still carries a roughly $12 billion market cap. The nuclear start-up could have more growth ahead, but given the uncertainties around its business, only aggressive investors should proceed at this point.

Oklo (OKLO 4.36%) and Nano Nuclear Energy (NNE 7.62%) are early-stage nuclear companies pursuing a similar ambition: How to shrink the nuclear power plant from a sprawling concrete behemoth into something that can fit much closer to the customers who actually need the power.

In this regard, Oklo has its Aurora powerhouse design, while Nano has several designs with epic, mythopoeic names (Kronos, Zeus, and Loki). Some of Nano's reactors are designed to fit on a semi-truck; Oklo's early renderings make its powerhouse look as peaceful as a spa in a mountain cabin.

Both of these nuclear energy stocks are volatile, speculative, and risky. However, between the two, I think Oklo will be the better pick for most investors. Here's why.

Oklo has the bigger customer pipeline Ever since going public in May 2024, Oklo's name has never been far from the question, "How will artificial intelligence get enough electricity?" While it's not the only novel energy company muscling into the AI space -- Bloom Energy is also there -- its factory-styled modular design has captured the imaginations of tech CEOs whose clean power choices aren't currently wide-ranging.

Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, was an early supporter of Oklo (he served as its first chairman until last April), but his support has been in the background lately. Oklo has now established partnerships with tech giants like Meta Platforms, data center developers like Switch and Equinix, and energy firms like Liberty Energy. Its potential customer pipeline exceeds 14 gigawatts (GW).

Nano has its partnerships too, including a memorandum of understanding to couple its microreactors with the AI infrastructure of Super Micro Computer. Certainly, more collaborative partners could join Supermicro, but Oklo's marquee list is currently longer and could generate more revenue long term.

Future revenue estimates are also important to consider, since neither company is currently making meaningful sales. In this regard, Nano has gotten a small revenue foothold with its recent acquisition of Secured Transportation Services, which generated $7 million in annual revenue last year. Oklo has also made a meaningful acquisition -- Atomic Alchemy -- that could help it tap into a multibillion-dollar medical isotope market.

Both companies have strong liquidity. Oklo reported about $2.5 billion in cash and marketable securities on its most recent balance sheet, while Nano reported about $565 million. While both companies are burning cash and reporting losses, their balance sheets should support operations for several years to come.

Both companies have an enormous market opportunity ahead. But if small advanced reactors really do populate the future landscape of energy, Oklo's early support and fortified balance sheet make it better positioned for stronger growth over the long term.

The $1 Billion Bet to Take Fusion Public

The International Energy Agency projects global electricity demand will grow roughly 40% to 50% by 2035, driven in part by artificial-intelligence data centers, electrification, and industrial growth[1]. That surge has pulled next-generation energy toward the public markets and opened the door to pre-revenue developers; General Fusion's own move is a roughly US$1 billion transaction that is expected to make it, by the company's account, the first publicly traded pure-play fusion company[2]. That collision of demand and capital is pulling General Fusion Inc., NuScale Power Corporation (NYSE: SMR), Oklo Inc. (NYSE: OKLO), Centrus Energy Corp. (NYSE: LEU), and NANO Nuclear Energy Inc. (NASDAQ: NNE) into the spotlight.

The transaction terms are concrete. The business combination implies a pro-forma equity value of approximately US$1 billion, inclusive of a committed and oversubscribed private placement (PIPE) of about US$107.7 million from institutional investors and roughly US$230 million of Spring Valley's trust capital, assuming no redemptions[2]. General Fusion has raised more than US$400 million to date from institutional investors, strategics, venture-capital firms, industry partners, and government grants, and intends to use the proceeds to advance its Lawson Machine 26 (LM26) demonstration program and steps toward a first commercial plant[2].

General Fusion announced on June 1, 2026 that its leadership team will participate in a series of major investor and industry conferences throughout June — a coming-out tour in advance of its anticipated listing on the Nasdaq. The Vancouver-based company, led by CEO Greg Twinney, is preparing to go public through a business combination with Spring Valley Acquisition Corp. III (NASDAQ: SVAC), a transaction targeted to close in mid-2026, after which the combined company is expected to trade under the ticker "GFUZ."

Founded in 2002, General Fusion is one of the oldest privately funded fusion ventures in the world, backed by a global syndicate of energy venture-capital firms, industry leaders, and technology pioneers. Its approach, called Magnetized Target Fusion ("MTF"), mechanically compresses a magnetized plasma using a liquid-lithium liner — deliberately avoiding the enormous superconducting magnets of tokamaks and the high-powered lasers of inertial-confinement designs. The pitch is practicality: machines built from existing materials that could produce cost-effective energy, rather than experiments that never leave the national lab.

The June schedule is dense. General Fusion plans to participate in Stifel's Ninth Annual Boston Cross Sector 1x1 Conference on June 2–3 in Boston; to attend the 16th Annual ROTH London Conference in London from June 16–18; and — the marquee appearance — to put Chief Strategy Officer Megan Wilson on stage at FusionX:Americas in Boston, June 9–11. Wilson is slated for a fireside chat with George Gianarikas, Managing Director at Canaccord Genuity, on June 9 at 5:00 p.m. ET, in a discussion centered on the evolving role of public markets in advancing fusion energy.

"Fundamentally, our plan has been underpinned by our focus on practical commercial fusion power, and our philosophy that we need to methodically buy down risk by demonstrating real results. That has not changed," Chief Strategy Officer Megan Wilson said, adding "What this transaction gives us now is that we are in growth mode." [5] The substance behind that push is General Fusion's Lawson Machine 26 (LM26), which the company announced in early 2025 as the world's first MTF demonstration machine built at a commercially relevant scale — compressing plasma with a lithium liner at 50% of commercial-scale diameter, built in under two years. LM26's milestones read like a roadmap: heat plasma to 1 keV (10 million degrees Celsius), then to 10 keV (100 million degrees Celsius), and ultimately to reach the Lawson criterion, the threshold conditions for net fusion energy in the plasma.

Crucially, General Fusion's path to market runs through a SPAC sponsor with a specific track record in this lane. Spring Valley has raised roughly $920 million across four IPOs, and its earlier vehicles took NuScale Power Corporation and Eagle Nuclear Energy Corp. public — the same sponsor network now backing a fusion debut and the team that brought Renewable Energy Group public at $10 and sold to Chevron for $61.50 in a ~$3 billion sale. The company has not built a commercial reactor that produces net energy, and it has publicly targeted a first-of-a-kind plant for the mid-2030s; the conference circuit marks its transition from a private research company to a public one.

Other industry developments and happenings in the market include:

NuScale Power Corporation (NYSE: SMR) reported first-quarter 2026 results highlighted by $1.0 billion in liquidity and continued momentum on the largest nuclear deployment program in U.S. history — up to 6 gigawatts of NuScale small modular reactor capacity being planned by its strategic partner ENTRA1 Energy with the Tennessee Valley Authority. Shareholders of Romania's Nuclearelectrica also approved advancing the next phase of the RoPower project, a six-module plant at a former coal site in Doiceşti.

"We ended the first quarter with $1 billion in liquidity, expanded our supply chain partnership with Framatome and saw continued progress on the TVA program," said John Hopkins, President and CEO of NuScale Power. "We are building the infrastructure that this pivotal moment requires." As the only small modular reactor developer with a U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission-approved design, NuScale carries a first-mover regulatory advantage — and, like General Fusion, has partnered with Spring Valley to reach the public markets.

Oklo Inc. (NYSE: OKLO), the fast-fission developer co-founded and led by Jacob DeWitte, continued de-risking its Aurora powerhouse after the NRC approved the project's Principal Design Criteria, with commercial deployment at Idaho National Laboratory targeted for late 2027. The company was also among five selected by the U.S. for advanced talks on using surplus government plutonium as reactor fuel.

DeWitte described that material as a potential "bridge fuel" that could help "bring more reactors online sooner." With CEO Jacob DeWitte appointed to the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, Oklo has become a bellwether for how much investors will pay for a compelling pre-commercial energy story — the high-momentum end of the advanced-nuclear trade that General Fusion is now planning to enter.

Centrus Energy Corp. (NYSE: LEU) reported first-quarter 2026 net income of $10.0 million and raised its full-year revenue guidance, underpinned by a commercial low-enriched-uranium backlog it has pegged at roughly $2.3 billion, a federally backed $900 million high-assay low-enriched uranium (HALEU) enrichment award, and a multi-billion-dollar enrichment-plant expansion in Piketon, Ohio.

"The first quarter was marked by numerous wins and great operational progress as we accelerated our drive to restore America's ability to enrich uranium at scale," said Amir Vexler, President and CEO of Centrus. Unlike the pre-revenue developers, Centrus already generates real cash flow — a reminder that parts of the nuclear-renaissance trade are further along the commercialization curve than others.

NANO Nuclear Energy Inc. (NASDAQ: NNE) reported second-quarter fiscal 2026 results alongside the formal submission of a Construction Permit Application to the U.S. NRC for its first full-scale KRONOS MMR microreactor prototype at the University of Illinois, supported by a working-capital position of roughly $566 million.

The International Energy Agency projects global electricity demand will grow roughly 40% to 50% by 2035, driven in part by artificial-intelligence data centers, electrification, and industrial growth[1]. That surge has pulled next-generation energy toward the public markets and opened the door to pre-revenue developers; General Fusion's own move is a roughly US$1 billion transaction that is expected to make it, by the company's account, the first publicly traded pure-play fusion company[2]. That collision of demand and capital is pulling General Fusion Inc., NuScale Power Corporation (NYSE: SMR), Oklo Inc. (NYSE: OKLO), Centrus Energy Corp. (NYSE: LEU), and NANO Nuclear Energy Inc. (NASDAQ: NNE) into the spotlight.

The transaction terms are concrete. The business combination implies a pro-forma equity value of approximately US$1 billion, inclusive of a committed and oversubscribed private placement (PIPE) of about US$107.7 million from institutional investors and roughly US$230 million of Spring Valley's trust capital, assuming no redemptions[2]. General Fusion has raised more than US$400 million to date from institutional investors, strategics, venture-capital firms, industry partners, and government grants, and intends to use the proceeds to advance its Lawson Machine 26 (LM26) demonstration program and steps toward a first commercial plant[2].

General Fusion announced on June 1, 2026 that its leadership team will participate in a series of major investor and industry conferences throughout June — a coming-out tour in advance of its anticipated listing on the Nasdaq. The Vancouver-based company, led by CEO Greg Twinney, is preparing to go public through a business combination with Spring Valley Acquisition Corp. III (NASDAQ: SVAC), a transaction targeted to close in mid-2026, after which the combined company is expected to trade under the ticker "GFUZ."

Founded in 2002, General Fusion is one of the oldest privately funded fusion ventures in the world, backed by a global syndicate of energy venture-capital firms, industry leaders, and technology pioneers. Its approach, called Magnetized Target Fusion ("MTF"), mechanically compresses a magnetized plasma using a liquid-lithium liner — deliberately avoiding the enormous superconducting magnets of tokamaks and the high-powered lasers of inertial-confinement designs. The pitch is practicality: machines built from existing materials that could produce cost-effective energy, rather than experiments that never leave the national lab.

The June schedule is dense. General Fusion plans to participate in Stifel's Ninth Annual Boston Cross Sector 1x1 Conference on June 2–3 in Boston; to attend the 16th Annual ROTH London Conference in London from June 16–18; and — the marquee appearance — to put Chief Strategy Officer Megan Wilson on stage at FusionX:Americas in Boston, June 9–11. LM26's milestones read like a roadmap: heat plasma to 1 keV (10 million degrees Celsius), then to 10 keV (100 million degrees Celsius), and ultimately to reach the Lawson criterion, the threshold conditions for net fusion energy in the plasma.

Crucially, General Fusion's path to market runs through a SPAC sponsor with a specific track record in this lane. Spring Valley has raised roughly $920 million across four IPOs, and its earlier vehicles took NuScale Power Corporation and Eagle Nuclear Energy Corp. public — the same sponsor network now backing a fusion debut and the team that brought Renewable Energy Group public at $10 and sold to Chevron for $61.50 in a ~$3 billion sale. The company has not built a commercial reactor that produces net energy, and it has publicly targeted a first-of-a-kind plant for the mid-2030s; the conference circuit marks its transition from a private research company to a public one.

NuScale Power Corporation (NYSE: SMR) reported first-quarter 2026 results highlighted by $1.0 billion in liquidity and continued momentum on the largest nuclear deployment program in U.S. history — up to 6 gigawatts of NuScale small modular reactor capacity being planned by its strategic partner ENTRA1 Energy with the Tennessee Valley Authority. Centrus Energy Corp. (NYSE: LEU) reported first-quarter 2026 net income of $10.0 million and raised its full-year revenue guidance, underpinned by a commercial low-enriched-uranium backlog it has pegged at roughly $2.3 billion, a federally backed $900 million high-assay low-enriched uranium (HALEU) enrichment award, and a multi-billion-dollar enrichment-plant expansion in Piketon, Ohio.

After climbing 14.2% in April, shares of Nano Nuclear Energy (NNE 7.62%) stayed red hot in May, continuing to soar higher. In addition to announcing a collaboration to deploy advanced nuclear reactors for data centers, the company's progress toward regulatory approval helped drive shares higher.

Nano Nuclear had big news about Super Micro Given the significant power demands of artificial intelligence (AI), data center operators have increasingly pursued nuclear energy as a solution. This trend was further illustrated when Nano Nuclear announced in early May that it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Super Micro Computer (SMCI 27.98%), a developer of data center infrastructure.

With the signing of the MOU, the two companies will evaluate the potential to deploy Nano Nuclear's nuclear microreactors to provide on-site nuclear power for data centers and to integrate Supermicro's AI server racks, cooling systems, and infrastructure with nuclear-powered energy solutions.

Addressing the importance of this new collaboration and how it could be a harbinger of future deals, Nano Nuclear stated in its press release that the "MOU represents a major step forward in Nano Nuclear's strategy to become a leading energy provider for the AI and data center sector, which is rapidly emerging as one of the largest future consumers of electricity globally."

Two weeks after announcing the MOU with Supermicor, Nano Nuclear announced that the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission had formally accepted the company's Construction Permit Application (CPA) for the deployment of its Kronos microreactor at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

According to Nano Nuclear, the Kronos microreactor is "the first commercially ready microreactor to progress to the CPA stage of the U.S. NRC's formal licensing process."

Nano Nuclear stock is cooling off rather than heating up in June Investor enthusiasm may have been high in May, but in the early days of June, shares are moving in the opposite direction. As of this writing, shares of Nano Nuclear are down more than 12% from their closing price of $28.88 on the last day of trading in May.

Hyperscalers are intrigued by the technology, which could address the growing energy demands of modern data centers.

Investors must be realistic about Nano Nuclear's timeline Nano Nuclear recently secured the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission's (NRC) formal acceptance of its construction permit application for its project at the University of Illinois. That said, it will be a while before one of Nano Nuclear's microreactors becomes operational. That's because the NRC still has to do a detailed evaluation of the KRONOS reactor's safety, engineering, and environmental footprint. Nano Nuclear expects this review to be done by 2027.

Once the NRC's review is complete and approved, Nano Nuclear expects to break ground on its full-scale KRONOS prototype in late 2027. From there, it will take a couple of years to build the prototype, which isn't expected to come online until 2030 at the soonest.

Nano Nuclear's promising technology could usher in a new era of energy generation, making nuclear energy portable, scalable, and accessible for off-grid use. That said, the review and approval process can be long and drawn-out, and any delays could push back what is already a multi-year timeline. If you buy today, you'll need to be patient as the process plays out. As for myself, I'll take a wait-and-see approach before buying the upstart nuclear energy stock.

Clean energy stocks caught a bid Monday as company-specific catalysts collided with a broader sector tailwind less than four weeks before a critical legislative deadline expires.

Revenue of $35.6 million missed estimates and fell 5% year over year, while the GAAP net loss more than doubled to $77.6 million. Buyers were initially engaged by the company's plans to expand its Torrington, Connecticut, facility to 500 MW of annualized production capacity over the next 24 months. 

The move comes with a caveat: insiders have been aggressive sellers, with the company’s chairman offloading 700,000 shares at roughly $26.68 last week.

The Bigger PictureBeyond the individual movers, the broader clean energy tape remains on a strong run. 

Plug Power Inc. (NASDAQ:PLUG) has gained more than 280% over the trailing year off an 86 cent, 52-week low, fueled by a short-squeeze thesis and improving gross margins. 

What's Driving The Move? Two forces are driving the clean energy sector. 

The first is a July 4, 2026, deadline baked into last year’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act: developers must break ground — or incur at least 5% of project costs — before that date to retain the full 30% clean electricity investment tax credit and a four-year completion window. 

Miss the July deadline, and projects must be fully operational by Dec. 31, 2027 — a timeline most large-scale wind and solar farms cannot meet. 

That has pulled a wave of equipment orders and construction starts into the first half of this year. 

The second driver has no expiration date. The AI buildout has reframed clean energy as critical infrastructure, with the Department of Energy projecting data centers could consume 12% of U.S. electricity by 2028. 

After July 4, the legislative tailwind fades. The AI demand does not.
