Factor Shaping Upcoming ResultsCorning's Optical Communications business is expected to remain the primary growth engine in the second quarter. Growing investment in AI infrastructure will likely propel growth in this segment. Rising deployment of AI data centers is increasing demand for the company's optical fiber, cable and connectivity products.
Ongoing expansion of fiber broadband networks is another growth factor. Telecom carriers continue investing in fiber-to-the-home infrastructure to meet rising bandwidth requirements, creating strong demand for Corning's optical solutions.
The Solar business is expected to remain a major contributor. Demand for domestically manufactured solar products, including polysilicon, wafers and modules, remains healthy. Customers increasingly prefer U.S. made products and suppliers to increase reliability in their supply chain amid growing geopolitical volatility and trade uncertainty. Growing investment in advanced chip production and AI-related semiconductor capacity is supporting demand for the company's high-performance materials and optical technologies.
Per the Zacks Consensus Estimate, net sales from the optical communications segment are pegged at $1.94 billion, up from $1.56 billion a year ago. Net sales from the automotive and Life Sciences vertical are pegged at $453.36 million and $315.35 million, respectively.
Price PerformanceOver the past year, Corning has surged 191% compared with the industry’s growth of 251.2%. It has outperformed peers like Amphenol Corporation (APH - Free Report) but lagged Ciena Corporation (CIEN - Free Report) over this period. While Amphenol has gained 56.7%, Ciena has jumped 371.1%.

Investment ConsiderationCorning is positioning itself as a critical supplier to the AI ecosystem. An AI data center requires massive GPU clusters, high-speed optical interconnects, robust fiber networking infrastructure and advanced photonic solutions. Hyperscalers are rapidly expanding AI data centers, and this is directly boosting demand for Corning’s leading-edge optical fiber and connectivity products.
The company's Solar business has also emerged as an important growth engine. Its vertically integrated U.S. manufacturing platform, spanning polysilicon, wafers and solar modules, positions Corning to capitalize on growing demand for domestically produced solar components. Growing demand for specialty optical materials used in semiconductor manufacturing further diversifies its revenue base. Despite some weakness, demand for premium Corning’s Gorilla Glass products remains resilient. A diverse portfolio and strong focus on innovation enable it to maintain its competitive edge amid growing competition from other players, such as Amphenol and Ciena.
Corning's ongoing productivity initiatives are expected to remain a positive driver. Improved manufacturing efficiency, disciplined cost management and a more favorable product mix are expected to drive strong margin expansion.
End NoteCorning continues to strengthen its competitive position through innovation across optical connectivity, advanced glass and semiconductor applications. Expansion into high-growth markets, such as AI data center, solar, automotive and semiconductor, is a positive factor. Upward estimate revisions underscore growing confidence among investors regarding the stock's growth potential. Owing to these factors, Corning seems to be a good investment option at present.
Jim Cramer used his Tuesday, July 20, CNBC Squawk on the Street appearance to lay out one of his most emphatic sector rotation calls of the year: move away from semiconductors, software, and AI-linked mega-caps, and toward banks, trucking, and steadier cash-flow industrials. The 10-year Treasury sits at 4.55%, the VIX at 18.77 has jumped 24.9% in a week, and Cramer says chip volatility is at a 30-year high versus the market.
Cramer framed the daily experience of owning tech vividly: “Every day when you come in, when you’re with tech… you’re basically tied up in front of a freight train on the tracks, and someone cuts it just before you die. And I don’t want that. I would rather be in JP Morgan.“ He added, “With the exception of Apple, I fully expect at the end of the day to be down. Maybe today’s the day where I make some money in Micron. But right now… can I please be in a trucking company that’s about to report?”
Cramer Rotates Into Banks as JPMorgan’s Earnings Soar JPMorgan Chase (NYSE:JPM | JPM Price Prediction) posted Q2 2026 EPS of $7.70 versus a $5.80 estimate, revenue of $57.35 billion, and ROTCE of 23%. Equity Markets revenue jumped 86% year over year to $6.03 billion, and the board authorized a fresh $50 billion buyback. Wells Fargo (NYSE:WFC) reported similarly strong results on July 14.
JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon said the U.S. economy has “demonstrated notable resiliency this year, with stronger business investment and hiring,” aided by AI-driven capital investment and fiscal stimulus. Shares trade at a trailing P/E of 15 with an analyst price target of $367.45, indicating analysts see a sliver of upside from the stock’s $345.23 share price at the market’s close on Tuesday.
J.B. Hunt’s Intermodal Profit Climbs 58% J.B. Hunt Transport Services (NASDAQ:JBHT) delivered Q2 EPS of $1.91 versus $1.73 expected on revenue of $3.50 billion, up 19.4%. Intermodal revenue rose 22% to $1.75 billion with operating income up 58%. These are terrific results, and similar strength might be coming for the rest of the sector.

The stock is up 50.11% year to date and 97.05% over the past year, making it a low-drama compounding profile that might be worth a look today.
Corning’s 100-Point Reversal Shows Why Cramer Is Leaving Volatility Behind Corning (NYSE:GLW) crystallized Cramer’s frustration. “I owned Corning for the trust. It went up 100 [basis] points over a period of a month. I was a genius then. It lost 100 points in two days. I’m an idiot,” he said. Shares are down 21.45% over the past month, yet still up 186.6% over the past year.
Optical Communications revenue rose 36% year over year to $1.85 billion on AI data center demand, and CEO Wendell Weeks said Corning “finalized two more hyperscaler deals similar in size and duration to our recently announced multiyear, up-to-$6 billion agreement with Meta.”
What to Watch Next Cramer believes extreme volatility has made technology stocks tough to own right now. Today, he prefers banks and trucking companies such as JPMorgan and J.B. Hunt, which offer strong earnings growth and steadier cash flow. The broader-market rotation could continue if AI spending slows and investors keep moving away from speculative technology stocks.

Corning (GLW - Free Report) is expected to deliver a year-over-year increase in earnings on higher revenues when it reports results for the quarter ended June 2026. This widely-known consensus outlook gives a good sense of the company's earnings picture, but how the actual results compare to these estimates is a powerful factor that could impact its near-term stock price.
The earnings report, which is expected to be released on July 28, might help the stock move higher if these key numbers are better than expectations. On the other hand, if they miss, the stock may move lower.
While the sustainability of the immediate price change and future earnings expectations will mostly depend on management's discussion of business conditions on the earnings call, it's worth handicapping the probability of a positive EPS surprise.
Zacks Consensus EstimateThis specialty glass maker is expected to post quarterly earnings of $0.76 per share in its upcoming report, which represents a year-over-year change of +26.7%.
Revenues are expected to be $4.6 billion, up 13.8% from the year-ago quarter.
Estimate Revisions TrendThe consensus EPS estimate for the quarter has been revised 0.6% lower over the last 30 days to the current level. This is essentially a reflection of how the covering analysts have collectively reassessed their initial estimates over this period.
Investors should keep in mind that an aggregate change may not always reflect the direction of estimate revisions by each of the covering analysts.
Price, Consensus and EPS Surprise
Earnings WhisperEstimate revisions ahead of a company's earnings release offer clues to the business conditions for the period whose results are coming out. This insight is at the core of our proprietary surprise prediction model -- the Zacks Earnings ESP (Expected Surprise Prediction).
The Zacks Earnings ESP compares the Most Accurate Estimate to the Zacks Consensus Estimate for the quarter; the Most Accurate Estimate is a more recent version of the Zacks Consensus EPS estimate. The idea here is that analysts revising their estimates right before an earnings release have the latest information, which could potentially be more accurate than what they and others contributing to the consensus had predicted earlier.
Thus, a positive or negative Earnings ESP reading theoretically indicates the likely deviation of the actual earnings from the consensus estimate. However, the model's predictive power is significant for positive ESP readings only.
A positive Earnings ESP is a strong predictor of an earnings beat, particularly when combined with a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy), 2 (Buy) or 3 (Hold). Our research shows that stocks with this combination produce a positive surprise nearly 70% of the time, and a solid Zacks Rank actually increases the predictive power of Earnings ESP.
Please note that a negative Earnings ESP reading is not indicative of an earnings miss. Our research shows that it is difficult to predict an earnings beat with any degree of confidence for stocks with negative Earnings ESP readings and/or Zacks Rank of 4 (Sell) or 5 (Strong Sell).
How Have the Numbers Shaped Up for Corning? For Corning, the Most Accurate Estimate is lower than the Zacks Consensus Estimate, suggesting that analysts have recently become bearish on the company's earnings prospects. This has resulted in an Earnings ESP of -0.70%.
On the other hand, the stock currently carries a Zacks Rank of #2.
So, this combination makes it difficult to conclusively predict that Corning will beat the consensus EPS estimate.
Does Earnings Surprise History Hold Any Clue? While calculating estimates for a company's future earnings, analysts often consider to what extent it has been able to match past consensus estimates. So, it's worth taking a look at the surprise history for gauging its influence on the upcoming number.
For the last reported quarter, it was expected that Corning would post earnings of $0.7 per share when it actually produced earnings of $0.70, delivering no surprise.
Over the last four quarters, the company has beaten consensus EPS estimates three times.
Bottom LineAn earnings beat or miss may not be the sole basis for a stock moving higher or lower. Many stocks end up losing ground despite an earnings beat due to other factors that disappoint investors. Similarly, unforeseen catalysts help a number of stocks gain despite an earnings miss.
That said, betting on stocks that are expected to beat earnings expectations does increase the odds of success. This is why it's worth checking a company's Earnings ESP and Zacks Rank ahead of its quarterly release. Make sure to utilize our Earnings ESP Filter to uncover the best stocks to buy or sell before they've reported.
Corning doesn't appear a compelling earnings-beat candidate. However, investors should pay attention to other factors too for betting on this stock or staying away from it ahead of its earnings release.

The company’s role in enabling governed workflows allows it to capture incremental usage as enterprises scale AI applications. As AI-driven customer engagement becomes more prevalent, Bandwidth is likely to see increased demand for its platform and network services.
However, Bandwidth operates in a highly competitive CPaaS market where larger competitors have broader global reach and established enterprise relationships. These competitors can bundle services and respond quickly to technological shifts, which can limit Bandwidth’s pricing power and customer acquisition. While the company is expanding internationally, competitors remain ahead in global scale, which could constrain market share gains over time. Bandwidth’s pricing and billing systems remain complex and rely on third-party components. This complexity can lead to inconsistencies and challenges in implementation, particularly as usage scales across multiple services and geographies. The need to align pricing with competitive offerings and evolving market dynamics adds further difficulty, which can adversely impact margins and customer experience.

Taking full advantage of the stock market and investing with confidence are common goals for new and old investors, and Zacks Premium offers many different ways to do both.
The popular research service can help you become a smarter, more self-assured investor, giving you access to daily updates of the Zacks Rank and Zacks Industry Rank, the Zacks #1 Rank List, Equity Research reports, and Premium stock screens.
It also includes access to the Zacks Style Scores.
What are the Zacks Style Scores? Developed alongside the Zacks Rank, the Zacks Style Scores are a group of complementary indicators that help investors pick stocks with the best chances of beating the market over the next 30 days.
Based on their value, growth, and momentum characteristics, each stock is assigned a rating of A, B, C, D, or F. The better the score, the better chance the stock will outperform; an A is better than a B, a B is better than a C, and so on.
The Style Scores are broken down into four categories:
Value ScoreFinding good stocks at good prices, and discovering which companies are trading under their true value, are what value investors like to focus on. So, the Value Style Score takes into account ratios like P/E, PEG, Price/Sales, Price/Cash Flow, and a host of other multiples to highlight the most attractive and discounted stocks.
Growth ScoreGrowth investors, on the other hand, are more concerned with a company's financial strength and health, and its future outlook. The Growth Style Score examines things like projected and historic earnings, sales, and cash flow to find stocks that will experience sustainable growth over time.
Momentum ScoreMomentum investors, who live by the saying "the trend is your friend," are most interested in taking advantage of upward or downward trends in a stock's price or earnings outlook. Utilizing one-week price change and the monthly percentage change in earnings estimates, among other factors, the Momentum Style Score can help determine favorable times to buy high-momentum stocks.
VGM ScoreIf you like to use all three kinds of investing, then the VGM Score is for you. It's a combination of all Style Scores, and is an important indicator to use with the Zacks Rank. The VGM Score rates each stock on their shared weighted styles, narrowing down the companies with the most attractive value, best growth forecast, and most promising momentum.
How Style Scores Work with the Zacks Rank A proprietary stock-rating model, the Zacks Rank utilizes the power of earnings estimate revisions, or changes to a company's earnings outlook, to help investors create a successful portfolio.
It's highly successful, with #1 (Strong Buy) stocks producing an unmatched +23.94% average annual return since 1988. That's more than double the S&P 500. But because of the large number of stocks we rate, there are over 200 companies with a Strong Buy rank, plus another 600 with a #2 (Buy) rank, on any given day.
This totals more than 800 top-rated stocks, and it can be overwhelming to try and pick the best stocks for you and your portfolio.
That's where the Style Scores come in.
You want to make sure you're buying stocks with the highest likelihood of success, and to do that, you'll need to pick stocks with a Zacks Rank #1 or #2 that also have Style Scores of A or B. If you like a stock that only has a #3 (Hold) rank, it should also have Scores of A or B to guarantee as much upside potential as possible.
As mentioned above, the Scores are designed to work with the Zacks Rank, so any change to a company's earnings outlook should be a deciding factor when picking which stocks to buy.
A stock with a #4 (Sell) or #5 (Strong Sell) rating, for instance, even one with Scores of A and B, will still have a declining earnings forecast, and a greater chance its share price will fall too.
Thus, the more stocks you own with a #1 or #2 Rank and Scores of A or B, the better.

Key Takeaways Corning is benefiting from AI-driven demand, new Amazon and Meta agreements, and margin expansion.GLW introduced Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3 as semiconductor optics and premium glass demand stayed strong.GLW faces consumer electronics cyclicality, stronger competition and China-related trade uncertainty. Corning Incorporated (GLW - Free Report) has gained 318.5% in a year compared with the communications components industry’s growth of 394.3%. The stock has outperformed the S&P 500’s growth during this period.
It has outperformed its competitors, such as Coherent (COHR - Free Report) and Amphenol Corporation (APH - Free Report) . Coherent has surged 317.2%, while Amphenol has gained 74.8%.
GLW Rides on Strength in Multiple Segments, Margin ExpansionCorning is witnessing healthy traction in the Specialty Materials segment, backed by strong demand for premium smartphone cover glass. Despite some weakness, demand for premium Gorilla Glass products remains resilient. In the first quarter of 2026, the company introduced Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3. Leading smartphone manufacturer Motorola has already opted to deploy the solution in its premium smartphone.
The Semiconductor vertical is emerging as another major growth catalyst. Corning supplies advanced optical components used in semiconductor manufacturing equipment, particularly EUV lithography systems. AI expansion is driving demand for advanced chips. Semiconductor manufacturers are expanding production capacity to support the growing demand. This is driving demand for Corning’s leading-edge optics.
Corning recently inked a multi-year supply agreement with Amazon. Per the deal, the company is set to supply optical fiber, cable and connectivity solutions to support Amazon Web Services' growing network of AI data centers across the United States. Earlier this year, Corning secured a multi-year agreement with Meta to support the latter’s AI infrastructure expansion. These partnerships highlight the increasing demand for Corning's advanced optical technologies and its growing capability among hyperscalers.
Corning reported a 20.2% core operating margin in the first quarter of 2026, up 220 basis points from the year-ago quarter. Since the launch of the Springboard plan in the fourth quarter of 2023, Corning has expanded its core operating margin by 390 basis points. Core EPS was up 30% year over year, outpacing the 18% year over year revenue growth rate. Along with strong demand, productivity improvement across operations led to strong improvement in profitability.
Growing Competition and Cyclicality in Consumer Electronics Are WeaknessesCorning’s glass innovation segment continues to be affected by the cyclical nature of the consumer electronics market. Higher memory prices will likely impact smartphone demand during 2026. This may affect demand for the GLW premium Gorilla Glass products.
The substantial growth in the AI networking market is driving global fiber-optic manufacturers to expand their portfolio offerings. Growing competition from other major players, such as Amphenol and Coherent, is weighing on margins to some extent.
Corning maintains a sizeable presence in China, which exposes the company to geopolitical tensions and tariff-related uncertainty. The Display and consumer electronics businesses remain dependent on Chinese panel makers and manufacturing ecosystems. Escalating trade restrictions, tariff increases or supply-chain disruptions between the United States and China could adversely affect operating margins.
Estimate Revision TrendEarnings estimates for Corning for 2026 and 2027 have increased over the past 60 days.

Key Valuation Metric of GLWFrom a valuation standpoint, GLW is currently trading at a premium compared with the industry. Going by the price/earnings ratio, the company’s shares currently trade at 59.6 forward 12-month earnings, higher than 58.74 for the industry.

End NoteMassive hyperscaler demand for fiber, cable and connectivity solutions is a major growth driver for Corning. Rising AI chip production increases demand for advanced optical materials. This is also a major revenue driver. Growing customer base and collaboration with industry leaders such as META and Amazon bode well for sustainable growth. Focus on improving productivity is driving profitability. However, volatility in the consumer electronics market, growing competition in the AI networking space are concerning. Heavy reliance on Chinese panel makers makes it vulnerable to growing trade uncertainty and geopolitical tensions between China and the United States. With a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold), Corning appears to be treading in the middle of the road, and investors could be better off if they trade with caution. What are the Zacks Style Scores? The Zacks Style Scores is a unique set of guidelines that rates stocks based on three popular investing types, and were developed as complementary indicators for the Zacks Rank. This combination helps investors choose securities with the highest chances of beating the market over the next 30 days.
Based on their value, growth, and momentum characteristics, each stock is assigned a rating of A, B, C, D, or F. The better the score, the better chance the stock will outperform; an A is better than a B, a B is better than a C, and so on.
The Style Scores are broken down into four categories:
Value ScoreValue investors love finding good stocks at good prices, especially before the broader market catches on to a stock's true value. Utilizing ratios like P/E, PEG, Price/Sales, Price/Cash Flow, and many other multiples, the Value Style Score identifies the most attractive and most discounted stocks.
Growth ScoreWhile good value is important, growth investors are more focused on a company's financial strength and health, and its future outlook. The Growth Style Score takes projected and historic earnings, sales, and cash flow into account to uncover stocks that will see long-term, sustainable growth.
Momentum ScoreMomentum trading is all about taking advantage of upward or downward trends in a stock's price or earnings outlook, and these investors live by the saying "the trend is your friend." The Momentum Style Score can pinpoint good times to build a position in a stock, using factors like one-week price change and the monthly percentage change in earnings estimates.
How Style Scores Work with the Zacks Rank The Zacks Rank, which is a proprietary stock-rating model, employs earnings estimate revisions, or changes to a company's earnings expectations, to make building a winning portfolio easier.
Investors can count on the Zacks Rank's success, with #1 (Strong Buy) stocks producing an unmatched +23.94% average annual return since 1988, more than double the S&P 500's performance. But the model rates a large number of stocks, and there are over 200 companies with a Strong Buy rank, plus another 600 with a #2 (Buy) rank, on any given day.
With more than 800 top-rated stocks to choose from, it can certainly feel overwhelming to pick the ones that are right for you and your investing journey.
That's where the Style Scores come in.
To maximize your returns, you want to buy stocks with the highest probability of success. This means picking stocks with a Zacks Rank #1 or #2 that also have Style Scores of A or B. If you find yourself looking at stocks with a #3 (Hold) rank, make sure they have Scores of A or B as well to ensure as much upside potential as possible.
The direction of a stock's earnings estimate revisions should always be a key factor when choosing which stocks to buy, since the Scores were created to work together with the Zacks Rank.

GLW is a #3 (Hold) on the Zacks Rank, with a VGM Score of B.
Momentum investors should take note of this Computer and Technology stock. GLW has a Momentum Style Score of A, and shares are up 9.9% over the past four weeks.
Three analysts revised their earnings estimate upwards in the last 60 days for fiscal 2026. The Zacks Consensus Estimate has increased $0.02 to $3.19 per share. GLW boasts an average earnings surprise of +2.4%.

Jim Cramer spent Monday night on Mad Money doing something television hosts rarely do on camera: calling himself an idiot. A viewer named Kyle phoned in about her Corning (NYSE:GLW | GLW Price Prediction) position, worried about the wild swings, and Cramer used the question to torch his own track record on the mega-caps before validating her thesis.
Kyle told Cramer she bought Corning a few months ago and had watched steady appreciation punctuated by what she called massive swings. Cramer’s first move was to disclose that his Charitable Trust had just trimmed. “We actually sold some for the trust today. It’s been a big win,” he said. Then came the self-flagellation. “I just castigated myself over Microsoft, over Nvidia, over Apple, over Meta… Yeah, I’m the biggest idiot in the world, but we own a lot of Corning too.”
His framing of the broader tape is the part worth taping to your monitor. “The script is flipped in the tech trade. The suppliers are winning right now and the old leaders have to earn their way back.” Kyle’s marching orders from Cramer were simple: stay with the position.
Why Corning became the AI supplier trade The math behind Cramer’s enthusiasm sits inside Corning’s optical communications segment. On the Q1 2026 report filed April 28, 2026, Corning posted EPS of $0.70 against a consensus of $0.6916, its fourth consecutive EPS beat. Optical Communications revenue landed at $1.846 billion, up 36% year over year, powered by hyperscaler data center connectivity.
Then came the kicker. CEO Wendell Weeks disclosed that Corning “finalized two more hyperscaler deals similar in size and duration to our recently announced multiyear, up-to-$6 billion agreement with Meta.” You can read the exact language in the company’s 8-K exhibit filed with the SEC. Since then, Corning also secured a multibillion-dollar Amazon deal to supply optical fiber for AI data centers. The deal brings roughly 1,000 new jobs in North Carolina. Bank of America now estimates up to $10.3 billion in AI data center-related revenue by 2030.
Q2 2026 guidance calls for core sales around $4.60 billion and core EPS of $0.73 to $0.77. So the story Cramer is telling Kyle is that Corning stopped being a glass company that also made cables and started being the plumbing behind hyperscaler capex.

The score behind Cramer’s self-castigation Look at what the tape did to the old leaders and you understand the confession. Year to date through June 30, 2026, Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) is down 22.53%. Meta (NASDAQ:META) is off 14.52% even as it signs Corning up for a fiber deal worth up to $6 billion. NVIDIA (NASDAQ:NVDA) has managed just 7.42%, Apple 6.64%, and Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) 3.26%.
Corning, over the same window, is up 192.71%. One year: up 391.06%. That is what Cramer means by the script flipping. The company selling picks to five gold miners has outrun the miners themselves by an order of magnitude.
The volatility Kyle is worried about Now for the other side. Corning trades at a trailing P/E near 123x and a forward P/E around 81x, with an analyst target price of $206.07 that already sits below where the stock trades. GuruFocus recently flagged the shares as 321% overvalued against intrinsic value, and insiders sold $54.1 million over the past three months with zero purchases. On July 1, the stock gave back 14.06% in a single session, which is roughly what Kyle called about.
Cramer’s trust took profits into that strength for a reason. The rotation into suppliers is real, the hyperscaler deals are contractual, and the AI data center buildout that Jensen Huang described as “the largest infrastructure expansion in human history” genuinely benefits the fiber guys. Kyle’s swings are the cost of admission when a stock triples in six months. What Cramer was telling her, between the insults he threw at himself, is that the trade is still working. The old leaders are the ones who need to prove something now.

Corning stock price continued its strong bull run, making it one of the best-performing companies on Wall Street. GLW jumped to a record high of $255.70, up by 190% this year, with its market capitalization rising to over $220 billion.
Corning, a top technology company, has been one of the most essential players in the booming artificial intelligence industry.
This transition has helped it move from the glass industry it is well-known for. It has announced major deals with companies like Meta Platforms, Nvidia, and Amazon.
Corning will offer fibre and connectivity products to Meta Platforms in a deal worth over $6 billion. It also entered major multi-billion-dollar deals with companies like NVIDIA and Amazon. Its partnership with Nvidia is expected to create over 3,000 jobs in the United States.
These developments are aligning with its Springboard growth strategy, citing demand from its AI infrastructure, which will push it s annual revenue run rate to over $20 billion in the long term.
The main concern about Corning is that it has become highly overbought despite the ongoing demand for its products. Data shows that the forward price-to-earnings ratio rose to 69, much higher than the sector median of 23. Its multiple is also higher than the five-year average of 22.5.
The forward EV-to-EBITDA multiple has jumped to 10.5, which is also higher than the sector median of 19.
These numbers are much higher than those of some of the fastest-growing companies in the US. For example, despite its strong revenue growth, Micron has a forward price-to-earnings ratio of just 15, while Nvidia has 22.
Analysts predict that Corning’s revenue growth will not be all that great in the coming years. For example, the average estimate among analysts is that revenue will jump by 15.4% this year to $18.8 billion, followed by $22.5 billion in the next financial year.
Therefore, these numbers mean that the company will need to report strong revenue and profitability growth in the coming quarters to justify the high valuation multiples.
Corning stock chart | Source: TradingView Technicals are also sending a red flag for the stock. As the chart shows, the stock has become highly overbought, with the Relative Strength Index (RSI) moving to 79, its highest point since February 23rd.
It has also started to form a bearish divergence pattern, which happens when the stock’s price is rising, while the RSI has formed a descending channel.
The stock has also deviated substantially from the historical averages, with the 100-day Exponential Moving Average (EMA) being at $99, much lower than the current $255.

HomeIndustriesComputers/ElectronicsTech StocksTech StocksAI spending has been a key engine for the market, and some investors now worry that it could stall out, one expert saysJune 26, 2026, 1:53 p.m. ET
Optical stocks have emerged as a bountiful play on the artificial-intelligence trade, but Friday’s selloff is putting a damper on that momentum.
Shares of Lumentum LITE and Coherent COHR were down about 5% on Friday afternoon — though both stocks have roughly doubled in price so far this year on enthusiasm for optical interconnects that are touted as faster, more efficient solutions in AI data centers than traditional copper.

Is GLW Overvalued or Undervalued? Corning Inc's current price of $194.92 is substantially higher than the GF Value™ estimate of $60.46, which indicates that GLW shares are trading at a significant premium. The 222.4% overvaluation implies a substantial margin of safety for potential investors, as the market price far exceeds the intrinsic value determined by the GF Value™ methodology. Given this context, GLW is categorized under the GF Valuation label of "Significantly Overvalued."
The risk associated with investing in GLW at this price level is considerable. As the stock is trading at such a high multiple compared to its intrinsic value, any negative news or market corrections could lead to significant losses for current shareholders. Conversely, if GLW continues to demonstrate robust financial growth and profitability, there could be potential for price appreciation, but this would require sustained performance against high expectations.

Corning GLW said it signed a multibillion-dollar, multidecade agreement with Amazon AMZN to expand domestic production of fiber-optic products used in data centers, according to a Sunday company update.
The deal is aimed at supporting growing infrastructure needs tied to artificial intelligence workloads, which require faster data transmission and higher network capacity inside large-scale data centers. Corning said the investment will increase U.S. manufacturing capacity for optical connectivity products.
The project is expected to create about 1,000 new jobs in North Carolina, in addition to construction-related employment and workforce training initiatives. Corning said the expansion will strengthen its domestic supply chain while helping meet rising demand from cloud and AI customers.
Industry observers view the agreement as another sign that major technology companies are increasing spending on the networking and optical infrastructure needed to support next-generation AI systems. Fiber-optic technology plays a key role in connecting servers and moving large volumes of data within modern data centers.
Bank of America is urging investors to take profits, warning that roughly 70% of its bear-market indicators have fired, a level the firm says has historically aligned with major market peaks. According to analysts, valuations are stretched, speculative activity is picking up, and market gains are narrowing, three conditions that have the bank holding a cautious year-end S&P 500 target of 7,100, well below where most of Wall Street is currently camped out.

The Nasdaq Composite is mounting a comeback Monday after suffering its worst single-session decline since April 2025, with Nasdaq 100 futures jumping 1.6% in early trade as chip stocks shake off Friday’s brutal selloff and investors move back into the names they were dumping just 72 hours ago. S&P 500 futures are up 0.8% and Dow futures are adding 135 points, or 0.3%, as the broader market finds its footing heading into a new week.
The chip sector is leading the charge. Micron Technology (NASDAQ:MU) is bouncing more than 5% in premarket trading after cratering 13% on Friday, while Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) and Broadcom (NASDAQ:AVGO) are also reclaiming ground. The iShares Semiconductor ETF is tracking 4% higher after its worst single day in more than six years on Friday, when the Nasdaq shed 4.2% as investors pulled back on concerns that valuations had stretched beyond what the uncertain economic backdrop could support. Morgan Stanley’s Mike Wilson characterized the Friday selloff as “ultimately healthy,” maintaining his 8,000 price target on the S&P 500, which would imply more than 8% upside from last week’s close.
Oil is back in the conversation, with Brent futures spiking as high as $98 a barrel after Iran and Israel exchanged strikes overnight, though prices are holding just below the $100 threshold that has served as a key psychological level throughout the conflict. President Trump is working to keep the ceasefire framework intact, but the overnight escalation is a reminder that geopolitical risk remains an active variable for a market that is still finding its footing after last week’s volatility.

Shares of Corning GLW climbed sharply by 8% on Monday after Amazon unveiled a multibillion-dollar agreement with the advanced glass and fiber-optics manufacturer.
The deal will see Corning supply critical networking infrastructure for the technology giant's expanding US data center footprint.
The long-term partnership will see Corning provide optical fiber, cable, and connectivity solutions that support Amazon's expanding cloud and artificial intelligence infrastructure.
The companies said the investment will also create 1,000 jobs at Corning's manufacturing facilities in North Carolina.
The announcement comes as demand for AI computing power continues to drive large-scale investments in data centers, increasing the importance of high-speed networking equipment that links servers, storage systems, and AI chips.
"Amazon's data centers power the services millions of people and businesses rely on every day," the companies said in a joint statement.
"Corning's fiber optics are a critical piece of that infrastructure, and together, these investments help fuel the US economic engine."
Corning's optical communications business has emerged as a major beneficiary of the AI boom.
As hyperscale cloud providers and AI companies build larger and more complex data centers, demand has risen for fiber-optic solutions capable of transmitting vast amounts of data at high speeds.
Fiber-optic cables have become a foundational component of AI infrastructure because they connect data centers and enable communication between the racks and processors handling intensive AI workloads.
The Amazon deal provides another boost to Corning, which has increasingly positioned itself as a key supplier to the AI ecosystem.
The company's shares have more than doubled this year and have risen nearly sixfold since the end of 2023 as investors bet on sustained spending across the AI supply chain.
The stock was also among the companies hit during Friday's broad selloff in semiconductor and AI-related names.
Corning shares had fallen more than 10% amid concerns that higher interest rates could slow the debt-funded expansion of data center projects.
The latest agreement adds to a string of AI-related commitments benefiting Corning.
In May, Nvidia committed to invest up to $3.2 billion in Corning through a partnership that includes the construction of three advanced manufacturing facilities dedicated to supporting the chipmaker's operations.
Earlier this year, Meta pledged up to $6 billion as the anchor customer for an expansion of Corning's optical cable plant in Hickory, North Carolina.
That project is expected to generate approximately 1,000 jobs.
Amazon Web Services CEO Matt Garman said the company's investments in North Carolina have already created more than 26,000 jobs.
Amazon separately committed $10 billion last year toward new data center developments in the state.
The new agreement will also expand Corning's training program for fiber-optic technicians in North Carolina, helping develop a workforce needed to support growing infrastructure demand.
While Corning is widely recognized for producing display glass used in Apple's iPhones, optical communications remains its largest and fastest-growing business segment.
The company, which invented optical fiber for long-distance communications in 1970, now supplies millions of miles of fiber-optic cable used by major cloud providers and AI companies worldwide.
The partnership also aligns with efforts by the Trump administration to strengthen domestic AI-related manufacturing and reduce dependence on overseas supply chains.
"This agreement with Amazon represents a significant milestone for Corning and for American manufacturing," Chief Executive Wendell Weeks said.
He added that the partnership will help "lead the way toward building a resilient US manufacturing base."
Weeks previously said that hyperscale cloud companies are on track to become Corning's largest customer group as AI infrastructure spending accelerates.
Intel (INTC) surges as Google and Nvidia consider it for advanced AI chip manufacturing, with Google reportedly ordering over 3M TPUs for 2028. Corning (GLW) rallies on a multiyear fiber-optic deal with Amazon to support U.S. datacenter growth and supply chain resilience.
Characteristics and Risks of Standardized Options: https://bit.ly/2v9tH6D. Amazon (AMZN) shares are struggling to stay positive Monday even after it signed a multi-billion-dollar deal with Corning (GLW), with the latter company supplying optical fiber for AI data centers.
Corning GLW shares jumped 9.5% in premarket trading Monday after Amazon AMZN signed a multi-year, multi-billion dollar agreement with the company to expand U.S.-based fiber optics manufacturing. Amazon also edged 1% higher before the open, as investors weighed another infrastructure-heavy move tied to the data-center buildout.
The deal puts Corning deeper into one of the most important bottlenecks of the AI era: the physical fiber needed to connect data centers at scale. Under the agreement, Corning will produce optical fiber for data centers and help strengthen the U.S. supply chain. The companies said the pact will create 1,000 jobs at Corning's North Carolina facilities, support hundreds of construction jobs, and include a workforce training program for fiber optics and fusion splicing.
For investors, this could be a reminder that the AI trade is not only about GPUs, chips, or cloud platforms. It is also about the quiet infrastructure layer underneath them. The agreement comes on top of Amazon's 2025 plan to invest $10 billion in North Carolina, after more than $20 billion already invested in the state since 2010. Corning shares have gained more than 95% year-to-date, and Monday's premarket reaction suggests investors may be paying closer attention to its role in the data-center supply chain.
Corning GLW rose 4.85% intraday after Amazon AMZN announced a multiyear, multibillion-dollar deal to source optical fiber, cable, and connectivity solutions from the glassmaker for its US data centers. The deal creates 1,000 jobs at Corning's North Carolina facilities and hundreds more in construction to expand the sites. Amazon shares rose 0.70% intraday.
Part of the agreement sets up a new training program with Catawba Valley Community College, building on Corning's existing Fiber Optic Technician Training Program. AWS CEO Matt Garman framed the deal as part of a long-term commitment to domestic manufacturing and community investment in the state.
The deal adds to Amazon's existing North Carolina footprint. The company has invested more than $20 billion in the state since 2010, creating over 26,000 jobs, and last year announced a separate $10 billion plan to expand cloud computing infrastructure there. The Corning agreement is in addition to that commitment.
On Monday, Amazon (AMZN 1.24%) handed an old-line glassmaker one of its biggest endorsements yet in the AI build-out. The cloud and e-commerce giant announced a multiyear, multibillion-dollar agreement to buy the optical fiber and connectivity that will wire its expanding U.S. data centers from Corning (GLW +1.89%) -- a deal expected to create 1,000 manufacturing jobs at the company's North Carolina plants. Shares of the 175-year-old glassmaker jumped as much as 10% on the news.
Lately, that kind of headline has become routine, even as most of the AI spotlight stays on the chipmakers. Corning was founded in 1851 and has made the glass for everything from Thomas Edison's early lightbulbs to the iPhone. Now its fiber -- the strands that shuttle data between the thousands of chips inside an AI data center -- has turned it into one of the quieter beneficiaries of the spending wave. And the stock has more than doubled this year, rising 114%.
So, is there still a case for the shares after a run like that?

A string of hyperscale wins The Amazon agreement isn't a one-off. In January, Meta Platforms agreed to buy up to $6 billion of optical solutions from Corning over several years for its own AI data centers. Then, in May, Nvidia named Corning its optical partner for next-generation AI infrastructure -- a multiyear deal under which Corning will expand its U.S. optical connectivity capacity tenfold and build three new plants in North Carolina and Texas. Nvidia is putting $500 million behind the partnership and holds warrants that could lift its total investment to as much as $3.2 billion.
Moving data inside an AI data center over glass rather than copper is faster and uses less power, and the number of connections required keeps climbing as these clusters grow. And Corning's newest product, Multicore Fiber, packs four light-carrying cores into one strand -- four times the density of a standard single-core line -- which the company says lets data center operators get the same capacity with up to 75% fewer connectors.
Highlighting the company's momentum in this AI build-out, Corning's optical communications sales rose 36% year over year in Q1 to about $1.85 billion -- an acceleration from 24% growth in the fourth quarter of 2025. It was the company's eighth straight quarter of year-over-year growth.
In the company's first-quarter earnings call, CEO Wendell Weeks said the wave of new agreements is driving "expansion across all of our major optical operations, including expanding our fiber operations."
Further, at a May investor event, Corning extended its long-range plan and is targeting a $40 billion annualized sales run rate by the end of 2030 -- up from a $20 billion annualized sales run rate it expects to reach by the end of 2026.

A high price to pay All of this momentum has led to a strong business. First-quarter core earnings per share -- the company's non-GAAP (adjusted) measure -- grew 30% year over year, and core operating margin reached 20.2%, a level the company hit a full year ahead of its own schedule. And for all of 2025, adjusted earnings per share grew 29%.
What gives me pause, however, is what investors are now paying for that growth. After more than doubling in 2026, Corning trades at a price-to-earnings ratio of about 90 as of this writing -- a rich multiple that arguably already assumes years of similarly strong growth.
And there are reasons for caution beyond the valuation. First, the financial terms of the Amazon and Nvidia agreements weren't disclosed, so the revenue and timing remain unclear. Additionally, Corning's fortunes are increasingly tied to a single, capital-intensive cycle -- hyperscalers' AI spending. While it doesn't look like this build-out will slow anytime soon, investors shouldn't rule out the possibility of a surprise slowdown.
Still, a small position here could make sense. Because just as investors should acknowledge the risks, there's also the possibility that the AI build-out runs hotter and longer than expected. For investors willing to venture into the optical side of the AI trade rather than the chips, Corning is arguably a solid investment idea, albeit a risky one given the stock's high valuation.

The recent multibillion-dollar infrastructure pact between Amazon NASDAQ: AMZN and Corning NYSE: GLW cements a structural shift in hardware for artificial intelligence. The physical transmission limits of copper have been breached, mandating dense optical fiber for next-generation compute clusters.
While semiconductor allocations dominate capital market attention, the underlying optical networking backbone presents a highly visible, multi-year infrastructure play driven by an accelerating hyperscaler arms race. Corning is no longer a legacy materials supplier; it is a direct beneficiary of AI’s insatiable demand for bandwidth, emerging as a premier non-chip infrastructure asset.

NVIDIA's Green Light for GlassFor years, copper twinax cables were the workhorse of the data center, connecting servers and switches within the rack. That era is definitively ending. The rollout of advanced AI accelerators from chip designers like NVIDIA NASDAQ: NVDA has created a fundamental bottleneck. These new platforms, operating at networking speeds of 800 gigabits per second (800G) and now pushing toward 1.6 terabits per second (1.6T), generate so much data and heat that copper-based interconnects are becoming technically and thermally obsolete. The physics are unforgiving; at these speeds, signal degradation over copper is too severe, and the power required creates unmanageable heat loads within high-density server racks.
This technical barrier is forcing a paradigm shift. Data center architects are now compelled to adopt optical fiber, not just between data centers, but directly inside the rack to connect GPUs and switches. This is not an incremental upgrade; it is a wholesale replacement of the data center’s central nervous system. This copper-to-glass inflection point creates a powerful secular tailwind for Corning, the primary manufacturer of high-grade optical fiber, cable, and connectivity solutions.
The Billion-Dollar Domino EffectA single contract, while significant, can be an anomaly. A pattern of contracts signals a structural trend. Over the last six months, Corning has methodically secured a series of multi-year, multibillion-dollar agreements that confirm an industry-wide re-platforming toward optical solutions.
The timeline establishes the momentum:
January 2026: Meta Platforms NASDAQ: META committed to a multi-year deal worth up to $6 billion for optical solutions to accelerate its U.S. data center buildout.
April 2026: Corning disclosed two additional, similarly sized long-term agreements with unnamed hyperscale customers during its Q1 earnings report.
May 2026: NVIDIA announced a strategic partnership to co-develop next-generation optical interconnects, with Corning committing to a tenfold expansion of its U.S. manufacturing capacity.
June 2026: Amazon announced its own multi-billion-dollar pact, reinforcing the trend and adding another pillar of demand.
These back-to-back commitments from the world’s largest cloud and AI players provide unprecedented revenue visibility for Corning’s Optical Communications segment. The agreements are not just purchase orders; they are long-term partnerships that include Corning's commitments to build three new manufacturing facilities and expand existing ones in North Carolina. This onshoring of the supply chain de-risks execution for its customers and locks in a pipeline of demand for years, insulating Corning from short-term macroeconomic cycles.
How Sales Growth Is Igniting MarginsThe financial impact of this demand surge is already materializing. In its first-quarter 2026 earnings report, Corning’s Optical Communications segment posted a 36% year-over-year revenue increase. More importantly, this top-line growth is translating into significant operating leverage.
The segment’s profitability expanded sharply, with operating margins widening by 410 basis points. This demonstrates that as factory utilization scales to meet the new hyperscaler demand, each incremental dollar of revenue becomes more profitable.
This dynamic is critical to understanding Corning’s current valuation. While a trailing price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 80 may appear stretched, it fails to account for the aggressive upward revisions to future earnings. Analysts now project rapid earnings-per-share (EPS) growth, which is compressing the forward P/E to a more reasonable 52. The market is pricing in margin expansion expected to accelerate as Corning’s new, highly automated manufacturing facilities come online to serve its backlog.
Is It Too Late to Invest? Smart Money Says No.After an almost 100% year-to-date run, some investors may point to valuation concerns and recent insider selling as reasons for caution. Throughout May, several top executives sold over $28 million in stock. While such moves warrant scrutiny, they appear to be standard profit-taking following a period of extreme outperformance rather than a signal of weakening fundamentals.

The more telling data point is the market’s reaction. The supply from these executive sales was readily absorbed by large institutional buyers, who increased their positions during the same period that C-Suite executives were selling. This institutional accumulation suggests that long-term asset managers are using any available liquidity to build strategic stakes, validating the long-term thesis.
Furthermore, Corning's dividend profile adds a layer of stability. The dividend remains well-supported, consuming around 28% of Corning's free cash flow. This conservative payout ratio provides a strong foundation and leaves ample capacity for future dividend growth and share repurchases.
Given the structural tailwinds from the AI infrastructure buildout and clear execution, Corning is positioned as a key enabler of the next generation of computing. Corning's recent volatility reflects a market digesting a rapid repricing, but the underlying fundamentals continue to strengthen. For investors seeking exposure to the physical backbone of the AI revolution, Corning’s role appears increasingly indispensable.
