SummaryMeta Platforms, Inc. delivered strong 28% revenue growth, but margins and free cash flow suffered due to aggressive AI-driven capex.I remain Buy-rated on META, emphasizing the resilient ad business, robust user engagement, and tangible AI-driven monetization improvements. The market is overly focused on the free cash flow shock, underappreciating AI's immediate positive impact on ad performance and platform economics.Risks include prolonged high capex, unclear AI monetization beyond ads, and regulatory/legal pressures, but I prefer buying META on this weakness. ETFs to Watch as META Sinks Post Q2 Earnings Miss, Poor Cash Position
FB Meta Platforms
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Key Takeaways META missed Q2 EPS estimates, beat revenue forecasts and saw free cash flow drop 91% year over year. Meta Platforms grew ad impressions and AI-driven Advantage annual revenue run rate to over $75 billion.ETFs like VOX rank Meta Platforms among their top holdings for diversified exposure. Shares of Meta Platforms (META - Free Report) dropped nearly 8% on the bourses yesterday, following the company’s mixed second-quarter 2026 results. The social media giant failed to meet Wall Street estimates for its bottom line, but managed to beat the top-line estimates by a whisker.

The company’s aggressive investments in artificial intelligence (AI) that caused a 91% year-over-year plunge in its free cash flow in the second quarter, along with Reality Labs unit’s persistent and widening operating loss, also disappointed investors, which got duly reflected in META’s share price decline yesterday. This is in sync with the stock’s descent witnessed lately, with META having lost 18.4% year to date.

While the latest share pullback might encourage investors to see this as a golden opportunity to invest in the WhatsApp owner, some might remain skeptical about investing in this stock, considering the overall market’s edginess over the exploding AI investments across the board.

Nevertheless, the company’s strengthening advertising business, along with the significant gains from its content recommendation initiatives, should continue to fuel its revenue growth in the long term.

Against this backdrop, investors who believe in Meta’s long-term trajectory, yet wish to avoid the idiosyncratic risk and sharp volatility of a single-stock position, may find a middle ground in exchange-traded funds (ETFs). By selecting funds that feature Meta Platforms as a top-10 holding, investors can capture the potential upside of a rebound while mitigating the impact of company-specific shocks on their overall portfolio.

However, to determine if this post-earnings pullback is a temporary stumble or a sign of deeper structural shifts, it is essential to look beyond the headline figures. Before exploring the best ETFs for gaining exposure to Meta, let us examine the company’s second-quarter performance across other key operational metrics.

A Brief Analysis of META’s Q2 ResultsMETA’s second-quarter earnings of $6.18 per share missed the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 13%, while revenues beat the consensus mark by 1%. On a year-over-year basis, the trend remained similar, with the bottom line falling 13.4% even as the top line grew a robust 28%.

The total number of ad impressions served across META’s services increased 14%, driven primarily by growth in engagement and users, as well as ad load optimizations.

On the other hand, the global average price per ad increased 12% year over year in the second quarter, as META benefited from ad performance gains, improved macro conditions and currency tailwinds.

On the operational front, Meta advanced its user understanding models to analyze ads and organic activity and simultaneously improve both user experience and advertiser performance in the second quarter. Combined with its GEM model for ads ranking and sequence learning, these advancements generated an 8.3% increase in ad clicks and a 15.7% uplift in conversions on Facebook.

Its AI-powered Advantage+ end-to-end solutions showed solid growth, reaching over $75 billion in annual revenue run rate.

Its Reality Labs segment continued to incur operating losses despite generating positive revenue growth. This unit’s loss widened from $4.53 billion a year ago to $4.62 billion in the second quarter. The reported figure beat analysts’ expectations of a loss of $5.07 billion (analysts polled by StreetAccount, as cited in CNBC).

Looking ahead, META’s management believes that its distribution advantages will allow it to serve AI products that are valuable for everyone, both its 3.6 billion users and millions of businesses, over the long run.

As far as its near-term outlook is concerned, META has raised the lower end of its 2026 total expenditure outlook to incorporate the $2.4 billion charge related to legal proceedings, which it recognized in the second quarter. The company now expects its total expenses to be in the range of $165-$169 billion compared with its earlier guidance of $162-$169 billion.

Buy Meta's 8% Earnings Drop Because This ‘Miss' Was Not a Miss at All
FB Meta Platforms
FMP Stock News
Original source text
At $539.03, Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:META | META Price Prediction) looks compelling at current levels. The stock just shed 7.95% on a Q2 earnings print that looked ugly on the surface, but the bottom-line miss was driven by charges that have nothing to do with the operating engine.

Meta runs the largest advertising franchise in the world, reaching 3.60 billion daily active users across its Family of Apps. It is also spending aggressively to become a foundational AI platform, with $130 to $145 billion in 2026 capex earmarked for infrastructure. The Q2 report collided those two stories, and the market punished the collision.

Why the Headline Miss Misreads the Quarter Revenue came in at $60.801 billion, up 27.96% year over year and ahead of consensus. Advertising revenue grew 27% to $59.363 billion, with ad impressions up 14% and price per ad up 12%. Operating cash flow expanded 24.65% to $31.862 billion.

The reported $6.18 EPS missed the $7.2173 estimate by 14.42%. The gap came from a $2.4 billion legal settlement charge and $1.18 billion in severance, roughly $1.40 in EPS dilution. Back those out, and normalized EPS clears consensus. With 57 buy ratings, 6 holds, and zero sells, the Street sees through the noise. A forward P/E of 19 for a business compounding revenue near 30% is not demanding.

The Capex Cliff Bears Are Circling Free cash flow collapsed to $784 million, down 91.31% year over year, as Q2 capex jumped 82.1% to $30.116 billion. Total liabilities are up 89.35% to $188.735 billion, with long-term debt at $83.66 billion to fund AI buildout.

Operating margin compressed to 31% from 43%. Youth-related U.S. trials could produce further material losses. Full-year expense guidance was raised to $165 to $169 billion. If AI monetization lags the spend, the returns math gets ugly quickly.

The Case for Sitting on Your Hands Meta has now dropped 11.07% in a week and 22.22% over the past year. The 50-day moving average of $604.55 sits well above spot, and the 200-day at $636.11 tells you the trend is broken. Waiting for Q3 to confirm operating income above 2025 levels is defensible.

Act now: the analyst who called NVIDIA in 2010 just named his top 10 AI stocks — and Meta didn't make the cut. Grab the names FREE today.

The stock also gapped down on each of its last two beats before this miss, suggesting sentiment on capex intensity is fragile. Prediction markets assign only 86% probability of Meta touching $580 in August, hardly a rip higher.

Why This Is the Right Call at This Price At $539.03, Meta is a Buy. The risk/reward skews favorable. Strip out $3.58 billion of non-recurring charges and the operating engine expanded. Advertising is compounding at 27%, and management guided Q3 revenue to $61 to $64 billion with full-year operating income above 2025.

The setup mirrors 2022, when a miss produced a 24.56% single-day collapse that preceded one of the great mega-cap recoveries. This drawdown is milder, the balance sheet stronger, and the ad business healthier. The analyst consensus target of $824.68 implies substantial upside from here, though targets are one input rather than a promise. Meta is down 18.2% year to date against an S&P 500 up 8.76%, a wide relative gap that historically resolves toward the fundamentals.

What invalidates the thesis: Q3 ad growth decelerating below 20%, operating income guidance walked back, or fresh legal reserves that suggest the $2.4 billion was a down payment. Absent that, buying a 27%-growing ad monopoly at 19 times forward earnings on an accounting-driven selloff is the setup worth watching.

Zuckerberg framed it plainly: “AI is accelerating our core business today, powering our next generation of products, and opening the door to entirely new enterprise opportunities.” The market sold the charges. The business kept compounding.

Meta: Indirect AI Monetization Keeps Us On The Sidelines
FB Meta Platforms
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Meta shares sold off after a Q2 EPS miss driven by higher AI infrastructure spending and increased CapEx guidance, raising market concerns over monetization. We maintain a neutral rating on META, preferring direct AI monetization players due to limited visibility on indirect AI-driven revenue growth and quantifiable impact. Despite headline concerns, META's ad business shows robust growth: ad impressions rose 14%, price per ad increased 12%, and Advantage+ AI-powered solutions reached a $75bn ARR.

Meta Q2 2026: Aggressive AI Capex Solidifies Bearish Sentiment

Meta Platforms (META) saw its stock fall nearly 8% post-Q2 FY2026 results, driven by skepticism over escalating AI capex with unclear ROI. Despite robust ad business growth—Advantage+ at a $75B run-rate—expenses surged 55% QoQ due to AI investments and data center costs. Operating income remains flat YoY after adjusting for legal and severance charges, while free cash flow dropped to $784M against $31.9B in operating cash flow.

Prediction: This Will be META's Price in 2027 And Over 50 Analysts Agree
FB Meta Platforms
FMP Stock News

Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:META | META Price Prediction) built the most profitable ad engine on the internet and now spends like a utility company laying grid for the AI era.

Q2 revenue hit $60.801 billion, up 27.96% YoY. EPS came in at $6.18 versus $7.2173 estimated. Shares are down 18.2% YTD to $532.52. Can this stock reach $900 by 2027?

The Real Reason Meta Is Down 18% This Year The Q2 miss cracked the AI narrative. Operating margin compressed to 31% from 43% YoY. Free cash flow collapsed to $784 million from $8.55 billion. Capex jumped 82.1% to $30.116 billion, with full-year guidance narrowed to $130 billion to $145 billion. That is enormous spending for a payoff investors cannot yet see.

JPMorgan cut its target to $640 from $725 and kept a Neutral rating, noting Meta’s visibility into monetizing AI spend beyond advertising remains limited.

Add $2.40 billion in legal charges and $1.18 billion in severance from 8,000 layoffs. Shares fell 11.07% in a week and 4.31% in a month. With a beta of 1.246, Meta swings harder than the market.

Wall Street Sees 55% Upside. Our Model Says 54% The average analyst target sits at $824.68, roughly 54.9% above today’s quote. Of the analyst pool, 8 rate META Strong Buy, 49 Buy, 6 Hold, and 0 Sell. Our base case lands at $817.47, or 53.51% upside with 90% confidence. Bull case is $867.73, bear case $712.57.

JPMorgan’s $640 reflects concerns about developer APIs and compute monetization. But 90% bullish consensus paired with 62.4% YoY earnings growth suggests analysts closer to the ad engine see something JPMorgan is discounting.

The Path to $900 Per Share Reaching $900 from today’s price of $532.52 would require a gain of 69%. With forward EPS of $39.95, a price of $900 implies a forward P/E of 23x. Our base case of $817.47 already implies 16x, meaning the bold target requires 6x of additional multiple expansion.

The 247Factor of 1.113 is driven by 90% bullish analyst consensus and 62.4% earnings growth. The multiple expansion story only works if AI capex starts delivering visible revenue. Corning’s up to $6 billion multi-year optical fiber deal signals hyperscaler-scale buildout.

Act now: the analyst who called NVIDIA in 2010 just named his top 10 AI stocks — and Meta didn't make the cut. Grab the names FREE today.

Morningstar called AI infrastructure a “dual asset, driving internal ad engine improvements and potentially opening new revenue streams by selling surplus compute capacity to other AI labs”.

Cathie Wood’s Ark bought $14.3M of META post-selloff. Zuckerberg told investors on the Q2 call, “AI is accelerating our core business today, powering our next generation of products, and opening the door to entirely new enterprise opportunities.”

The risk: if compute monetization stays theoretical through 2027, the multiple stays compressed and $900 does not happen.

Where Meta Trades vs Its Earnings Power At $532.52, Meta trades at roughly 13x forward earnings against 62.4% YoY earnings growth. Shares sit 4% below the 52-week high of $793.65 and just above the low of $519.78. Over 10 years, META has returned 337.37%.

The current multiple prices permanent capex drag onto a franchise that just grew revenue 28%.

Is $900 Realistic? The $900 target by 2027 requires a 69% gain from here.

Three things need to break right: AI capex must show measurable ad-revenue lift by early 2027, at least one enterprise compute revenue line must move from theory to disclosure, and operating margin must stabilize above 35%. Another quarter of capex acceleration without revenue attribution would derail it. We’ve outlined the blueprint for how Meta Platforms could reach $900 in 2027.

What Meta Now Has to Prove Following Its Earnings Release
FB Meta Platforms
FMP Stock News
Original source text
© Fritz Jorgensen / iStock Editorial via Getty Images

At $585.61, Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:META | META Price Prediction) sits at a crossroads. The stock just snapped a six-quarter EPS beat streak and reset investor expectations around AI spending, making conviction in either direction premature at this price.

Meta owns the largest social advertising network on the planet, monetizing 3.60 billion daily active users across Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Threads while pouring capital into Reality Labs and its Superintelligence Labs AI unit. Q2 delivered $60.80 billion in revenue, up 27.96% year over year, but EPS of $6.18 missed the $7.22 consensus by 14.42%, weighed down by $2.40 billion in legal charges and $1.18 billion in severance from an 8,000-employee headcount reduction.

Why the Ad Engine Still Justifies the Premium Advertising revenue rose 27% to $59.36 billion, powered by 14% impression growth and 12% higher pricing per ad. Prediction markets had expected 9% to 12% ad price growth, so pricing power beat the crowd. Gross margin sits at 82.0%, return on equity at 30.24%, and the stock trades at a P/E of 21, cheaper than most Mag 7 peers.

The setup gets more interesting with the $14 billion BlackRock joint venture for a one-gigawatt data center campus in El Paso, which offloads part of the AI buildout cost. Analyst conviction remains overwhelming: 57 Buy, 6 Hold, 0 Sell.

Why the Cash Flow Picture Looks Broken Free cash flow collapsed 91.31% to $784 million as Q2 capex hit $30.12 billion, up 82.1% year over year. Operating margin compressed from 43% to 31%, and net income fell 13.57%. Full-year capex guidance was narrowed to $130 billion to $145 billion, with total liabilities up 89.35% year over year and long-term debt lifted to $83.66 billion.

Retail sentiment on Reddit flagged borrowing costs rising 0.4 points and questioned whether AI capex generates a return. The COO also disposed of 1,466 shares at $607.85 under a 10b5-1 plan just before the earnings report.

Why the Setup Requires Patience Meta must prove three things: that WhatsApp and Instagram Business AI agents become a high-margin enterprise SaaS revenue stream, that AI drives ad price realization rather than just more impressions, and that Zuckerberg will signal a clear boundary for infrastructure spending. Until then, the bull and bear cases largely offset.

Act now: the analyst who called NVIDIA in 2010 just named his top 10 AI stocks — and Meta didn't make the cut. Grab the names FREE today.

What the Stock and the Targets Actually Say Shares fell 6.63% over the past week and are down 11.13% year to date, badly trailing the S&P 500’s roughly 6.88% YTD gain. One-year performance is -16.07%. The Wall Street consensus target of $824.68 implies roughly 40.8% upside, but those targets are just one data point and largely predate the FCF collapse.

Prediction markets are more cautious: crowds assign a 91.5% probability of a decline in the next session and only 18.5% odds of a July close above $580.

The Key Proof Points at $585.61 The bull thesis needs one clean quarter of expanding operating margin, moderating capex intensity, and initial disclosure of Business AI revenue. Q3 guidance of $61 billion to $64 billion can validate the ad engine, but with FY expenses raised to $165 billion to $169 billion, margin recovery hinges on legal charges not repeating.

Paying up here means accepting risk before the FCF trajectory is proven. On the other side, exiting means walking away from a business growing revenue 28% with 41.4% operating margins at a market multiple. A close back above the pre-earnings $627 zone with capex commentary tightening would strengthen the bull case. A break of $520 with Reality Labs losses widening would validate the bear case.

For research purposes, the proof points to watch remain clear before drawing any directional conclusion.

SummaryCompaniesPolice preparing to send notice to MetaCase follows India's tightening of content rulesIndia is Facebook's biggest market by usersNEW DELHI, July 31 (Reuters) - Police in the southern Indian city of Hyderabad have registered a case against the head of Meta India, Arun Srinivas, over multiple videos ‌posted on the company's Facebook platform that depicted Prime Minister Narendra Modi in an "abusive manner," a senior police officer said on Friday.

The videos spread as Modi contended with the biggest wave of youth-led protests India has seen in more than a decade, a movement over leaked papers in national examinations that has led to the resignation of his education minister.

Get the latest news from India and how it matters to the world with the Reuters India File newsletter. Sign up here.

Police are preparing to send a notice to Meta Platforms (META.O), opens new tab regarding the case, said V Aravind Babu, deputy commissioner of police for cyber crimes in Hyderabad.

Meta did not immediately respond to a Reuters' request for comment on Friday.

It was not immediately clear why Srinivas had been named personally, a rare move against a senior executive of a global tech firm. India has tightened its content rules this year, narrowing the legal shield that protects platforms from liability for what their users post and raising the exposure of the executives who run them.

Since February, platforms must remove unlawful content flagged by courts or the government within three hours, down from 36, or lose that protection.

Holding someone personally responsible normally requires proof of "an active role and knowledge," said Akash Karmakar, a technology law partner at Indian law firm ‌Panag & Babu.

Meta has repeatedly drawn the ire of Indian government over content posted by its users, and faced criticism that it does too little to police hate speech and misinformation on Facebook and Instagram.

FACEBOOK'S BIGGEST MARKET BY USERSThe case builds on a run of tensions between Meta and Modi's government over content tied to the prime minister. Modi has faced a barrage of online criticism, jokes and ridicule by protesters in recent weeks.

India's IT ministry summoned Meta executives this week after Facebook briefly restricted a Modi post, with a top official saying the government wanted the company to explain the matter at the highest level.

A Meta spokesperson said at the time that the post, which was Modi's first where he addressed the massive student protests, had been blocked inadvertently.

India is Facebook's biggest market by users. Srinivas is Meta's managing director and head for India since July 2025.

The case against him is among many others that were filed based on complaints by supporters of Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party, who alleged that manipulated videos and images of the prime minister were being circulated on Meta-owned social media platforms, such as Facebook and Instagram, local media reported earlier.

Meta Stock Feels the Heat as Wall Street Says 'Skepticism is Rampant'
FB Meta Platforms
FMP Stock News

Meta Platforms Inc. (NASDAQ:META) shares slid nearly 9% on Thursday as investors digested the firm’s mixed second-quarter results.

Revenue of $60.8 billion beat estimates, but a $2.4 billion legal charge and $1.18 billion in severance costs dragged earnings per share to $6.18, well below Street expectations near $7.19.

Analysts responded with a wave of price-target cuts, even as most held their ratings steady.

META stock feels the heat. See the chart and price action here. Experts Weigh InNeedhamNeedham analysts Laura Martin and Dan Medina delivered the sharpest line of the day as they kept their Hold rating under the headline “META: A Strategy Only a CEO Can Love. Unanswered Questions Abound.”

Martin argued Meta is “fighting battles on too many fronts,” spreading capital across custom chips, data centers, enterprise software, agents, model APIs and smart glasses at once. She flagged stock-based compensation of $356,840 per employee as twice Alphabet’s rate.

That, she said, is “owing to low morale at META and a low ‘corporate values’ rating.” Free cash flow came in near zero at $784 million, and Martin expects it to turn negative next quarter. Her closing question: “Does META have a terminal value?”

RosenblattRosenblatt’s Barton Crockett stayed at Buy but slashed his price target to $883 from $1,015. He wrote that “skepticism is rampant” even though “core ads and costs were fine.”

GuggenheimGuggenheim’s Michael Morris maintained his Buy rating while cutting his target to $700 from $800 under the headline “Proof Soon, But Not Yet.” Morris noted operating margin compressed 620 basis points on AI talent costs. Management’s lone concrete monetization proof point, he said, was Meta Business Agent, which “begins paid monetization on August 1” in what executives called “very early stages.”

Bank of America Securities Bank of America analyst Justin Post reiterated a Buy rating and lowered his price objective to $810 from $835.

He argued the Street is “likely underappreciating Meta’s ability to monetize its growing capacity assets.” Post pegged the stock at just 13x his 2027 estimate for the core Family of Apps business.

He also pointed to Meta’s next-generation model, code-named Watermelon, which “has achieved frontier-level performance on internal benchmarks” ahead of a possible unveiling at September’s Connect Conference.

Cantor FitzgeraldCantor Fitzgerald’s Deepak Mathivanan kept his Overweight and Top Pick rating but trimmed his target to $680 from $770, noting “significant capex spend demands a little more.”

He highlighted the new Meta Generative Recommender, which drove an 8.3% lift in ad clicks and a 15.7% jump in conversions on Facebook. Advantage+ also hit a $75 billion annual run rate.

D.A. DavidsonD.A. Davidson’s Gil Luria held his Buy rating and cut his target sharply to $700 from $850 under the headline “METAmorphosis.” He pointed to a capital expenditure guide now implying $137.5 billion at the midpoint, plus early traction for the Muse Spark 1.1 coding agent.

JPMorganThe most cautious call came from JPMorgan’s Doug Anmuth, who stayed Neutral and lowered his price target to $640 from $725.

Meta “did not come away learning much incremental on the developer API, consumer/business agents, or potential plans to directly monetize compute,” Anmuth wrote. He now projects 2027 capital expenditures of $243 billion, up 70% year over year.

KeyBancKeyBanc’s Justin Patterson held his Overweight rating and trimmed his target to $780 from $790. He framed Meta’s enterprise push as a potential “business in a box” that could let a company run entirely on Meta’s platforms. A new product cycle, Patterson argued, “may start to answer ROIC questions.”

The Bottom LineAcross the eight notes, six analysts kept Buy-equivalent ratings, one held Neutral and Needham stayed at Hold. Targets ranged from $640 at J.P. Morgan to $883 at Rosenblatt.

Every adjusted price target moved lower, underscoring shared unease over capital spending even as advertising demand held firm.

META Stock Price Activity: Meta Platforms shares were down 8.95% at $533.17 at the time of publication Thursday, according to data from Benzinga Pro.

Over the past month, META has declined about 5.0% versus a 0.7% decline in the S&P 500 and is down roughly 20% year-to-date compared to the index’s 7.4% gain.

Meta leaves investors wanting more on AI monetization timeline
FB Meta Platforms
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Meta Platforms Inc (NASDAQ:META, XETRA:FB2A, SIX:FB) shares fell as much as 10% on Thursday morning after the company's third-quarter results left investors unconvinced that its massive artificial intelligence spending is translating into tangible returns.

Earnings per share came in at $6.18, well below the $7.22 analysts had expected, even as revenue of $60.8 billion topped forecasts of $60.17 billion. Meta's guidance for the current quarter also fell short, with the company projecting sales of $62.5 billion versus estimates of $63.15 billion.

Total costs rose 55% year-over-year to $42.03 billion, with more than $1 billion of that tied to severance pay following a round of layoffs.

On the earnings call, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg declined to offer specific capex guidance for 2027, saying infrastructure planning "remains highly dynamic."

"We're gearing our current infrastructure plans toward maximizing capacity in 2026 and 2027, while giving us the flexibility to continue growing in 2028 and beyond," he said.

Reality Labs, the division behind Meta's virtual reality headsets and wearable AI devices, reported a $4.6 billion loss on sales of $431 million for the quarter.

Zuckerberg said demand for AI compute continues to outstrip supply. "There's just nowhere near enough compute for all the demand," he said. "We're getting a large number of offers for the compute that we have, but we also have a lot of internal uses that we think are going to be quite valuable."

On financing its infrastructure buildout, Meta said it has been shifting toward more debt. "We've been evolving our capital structure in recent years to include a greater mix of debt as we work to bring down our cost of capital," the company said, adding it has "generally found it prudent to continue adding cost-efficient, long-duration sources of capital."

The selloff extends a difficult stretch for Meta stock, which had already fallen for 10 consecutive trading sessions heading into the results, its longest losing streak on record.

Analysts at BofA said the after-hours pressure did not appear to reflect weakening fundamentals, pointing to a 10% rise in time spent on Instagram and a third-quarter revenue outlook implying accelerating two-year growth. Instead, they attributed the drop to investor concerns over Meta's spending direction, compounded by higher stock-based compensation.

XTB research director Kathleen Brooks said investors are still waiting for clearer signs that Meta's AI investments are paying off.

“It’s been a rough couple of weeks for Meta’s share price, which has traded lower for ten consecutive days, its longest losing streak in its history,” Brooks said.

“Although severance costs are only temporary and we could see profitability bounce back in Q3, we think that the sharp selloff in the Meta share price in the post-market is down to the astonishing burn rate of free cash flow.”

META's Q2 Earnings Miss Estimates, Revenues Rise Y/Y on Ad Growth
FB Meta Platforms
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Key Takeaways Meta's Q2 revenues climbed 28% to $60.80B, while earnings fell 13.4% and missed estimates.Ad impressions rose 14% and prices gained 12%, driving a 27% increase in advertising revenues.Costs surged 55% as legal, severance and AI infrastructure spending pressured margins and cash flow. Meta Platforms (META - Free Report) reported second-quarter 2026 earnings of $6.18 per share, down 13.4% year over year and lagging the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 12.96%. Revenues climbed 28% year over year to $60.80 billion and surpassed the consensus mark by 0.98%.

Strong advertising demand and improving monetization supported the top line. Ad impressions increased 14% year over year, while the average price per ad advanced 12%. However, sharply higher infrastructure, compensation and legal-related costs weighed on profitability.

META's Ad Engine Drives Top-Line GrowthFamily of Apps revenues, accounting for 99.3% of total revenues, increased 28% year over year to $60.37 billion. Advertising revenues rose 27% year over year to $59.36 billion, reflecting healthy engagement, user growth and ad-load optimization across Meta’s services.

Family of Apps other revenues jumped 72.7% year over year to $1.01 billion, surpassing $1 billion for the first time. Growth was primarily driven by WhatsApp paid messaging and subscription revenues, providing Meta with additional monetization avenues beyond advertising.

Reality Labs revenues increased 16.5% year over year to $431 million, driven by growth in AI glasses sales, partially offset by lower Quest headset revenues.

Meta’s AI Gains Lift Engagement and AdsFamily daily active people averaged 3.60 billion in June, up 3% year over year. Instagram reached 2 billion daily active users, while Threads surpassed 500 million monthly active users. Global time spent on Instagram grew at a double-digit rate, supported by improvements to Feed and Reels recommendations.

Meta also reported measurable gains from AI-powered advertising systems. Advances in user understanding, ad ranking and sequence learning generated an 8.3% increase in ad clicks and a 15.7% uplift in Facebook conversions. Advantage+ solutions reached an annual revenue run rate of more than $75 billion.

META’s Costs Pressure Margins and EarningsTotal costs and expenses surged 55% year over year to $42.03 billion. The increase included $2.40 billion in charges related to legal proceedings and $1.18 billion in severance expenses tied to the May 2026 headcount reduction.

Operating income declined 8.2% year over year to $18.78 billion, while the operating margin contracted to 31% from 43% in the year-ago quarter. Excluding legal charges and severance expenses, META said operating income would have increased 9% year over year. Higher employee compensation, depreciation, data center operating costs, cloud spending and third-party AI token costs remained major expense drivers.

Family of Apps operating income fell 6.3% year over year to $23.39 billion. The segment continued to generate substantial profits, but elevated investment levels more than offset the benefit of strong revenue growth during the quarter.

Reality Labs segment operating loss widened to $4.62 billion from $4.53 billion, reflecting Meta’s continued spending on augmented and virtual reality products.

META’s Cash Flow Funds Heavy AI BuildoutCash flow from operating activities totaled $31.86 billion. Capital expenditures, including principal payments on finance leases, nearly doubled to $31.08 billion from $17.01 billion, leaving free cash flow of $784 million.

Meta ended the second quarter of 2026 with $90.26 billion in cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities. Long-term debt stood at $83.66 billion.

The company issued nearly $25 billion of long-term debt during the reported quarter as it expanded the mix of capital used to fund long-duration infrastructure projects.

Meta’s Outlook Raises Spending VisibilityFor the third quarter of 2026, Meta expects revenues between $61 billion and $64 billion. The forecast assumes foreign currency will create an approximately 1% headwind to year-over-year revenue growth.

The company raised the lower end of its 2026 expense outlook and now expects total expenses of $165 billion to $169 billion. Meta continues to expect 2026 operating income to exceed the 2025 level and projects a tax rate of 15-17% for the remaining quarters.

Meta narrowed its capital expenditure forecast to $130 billion-$145 billion from $125 billion-$145 billion.

USD.

Oproti tomu společnost META (-9,39 %) nepotěšila svým ziskem i přes mírně vyšší tržby.

Čipový sektor dnes patří k těm nejrůstovějším a AMD (+13,22 %) či Sandisk (+23,9 %)  předvádějí nevídaný obrat.

Why Meta Platforms Stock Fell 10% Today

FMP Stock News
Original source text
Meta Platforms (META -9.19%) shares dropped as much as 10.4% on Wednesday following the company's Q2 2026 earnings report. Revenue beat expectations, but investors focused on shrinking profits and a challenging cash flow picture.

Today's Change

(

-53.81

Current Price

$

531.80

Big revenue, bigger expenses The Instagram and Facebook parent posted $60.8 billion of Q2 revenue, a 28% year-over-year increase and near the top of management's guidance. The ad business remains strong, with impressions up 14% and average price per ad up 12%.

But earnings fell 13% to $6.18 per share. Free cash flow was just $784 million, down from $12.4 billion in the previous quarter and $8.5 billion in Q2 2025.

The culprit, of course, was massive spending on data centers. Meta posted $31 billion of capital expenditures in a single quarter. For context, fellow Magnificent 7 member Apple (AAPL -1.84%) doesn't spend even half as much on capex in a full year. Then again, Apple isn't building "personal superintelligence" for 3.6 billion people.

When does Zuckerberg's AI spending pay off? CEO Mark Zuckerberg used the earnings call to sketch out Meta's AI future. Personal AI agents will work 24/7 on your behalf, business agents can handle customer service, and AI will drive back-end stuff like enterprise APIs and coding tools.

Meta is building agents to address these opportunities, and Zuckerberg plans to sell AI compute directly to other companies one of these days. That's what all the capex spending is for.

On the earnings call, Zuckerberg said that Meta is getting offers to buy its compute capacity "at a significant premium." The business agents already have 1 million businesses using them weekly. The new Muse Spark model is getting developer traction.

But Meta investors have heard ambitious visions before. The Reality Labs division, home of the metaverse bet, lost another $4.6 billion this quarter. Smart glasses are selling well, but VR headset sales are down.

If the infrastructure spending continues to rise (full-year capex guidance now centers around $138 billion, up from $135 billion), free cash flows could soon turn negative. Meta has the balance sheet to absorb this for now, with over $90 billion in cash and marketable securities.

Wall Street is asking Meta one simple question: When will all this spending start to pay off?

META Q2 Earnings Call Highlights AI Expansion Strategy
FB Meta Platforms
FMP Stock News

Key Takeaways Meta Platforms advances AI across ads, recommendations and products, with revenues reaching $60.80 billion.META is building AI revenue channels through subscriptions, APIs, business agents and compute services.Meta reported $31.08 billion in capex as it expands servers, data centers and network infrastructure. Meta Platforms, Inc. (META - Free Report) emphasized Artificial Intelligence as the central driver of its next growth phase during its second-quarter 2026 earnings call, with management highlighting AI improvements across advertising, recommendations and new enterprise products.

Executives also outlined aggressive infrastructure investments while maintaining focus on monetizing AI through consumer tools, business agents and enterprise services.

META Advances AI-Powered Core BusinessMark Zuckerberg, founder, chairman & CEO, said AI investments are already improving Meta’s core operations by enhancing user experiences, advertiser performance and internal product development. He highlighted AI-driven recommendation improvements across Instagram and Facebook as a key area of progress.

Susan Li, chief financial officer, noted that Instagram global time spent grew double digits year over year, supported largely by improvements in feed and Reels recommendations. Facebook video time spent also increased year over year, driven by ranking improvements.

The company reported second-quarter revenues of $60.80 billion, up 28% year over year, while EPS was $6.18. Revenues exceeded the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $60.21 billion, while EPS missed the estimate of $7.10, resulting in a 13.00% EPS surprise and a 1.00% revenue surprise.

Meta Expands AI Monetization OpportunitiesMeta is developing multiple AI-related revenue channels, including subscriptions, APIs, business agents and potential compute services. Zuckerberg said the company sees enterprise opportunities beyond advertising, including tools that help businesses interact with customers and improve operations.

Management highlighted that more than 1 million businesses were using Meta business agents each week across WhatsApp and Messenger. The company is also expanding business agent capabilities on Instagram.

Li said Family of Apps other revenues reached $1 billion for the first time in a quarter, growing 73% year over year, primarily driven by WhatsApp paid messaging and subscriptions revenues.

META Increases AI Infrastructure SpendingMETA is continuing to build infrastructure capacity to support AI development and product expansion. The company reported capital expenditures of $31.08 billion in the quarter, reflecting investments in servers, data centers and network infrastructure.

Li said Meta expects 2026 capital expenditures, including principal payments on finance leases, to remain between $130 billion and $145 billion. She added that the company is focused on maximizing capacity through 2026 and 2027 while maintaining flexibility for future decisions.

Management also discussed external funding opportunities, noting that partnerships such as the BlackRock infrastructure venture could complement Meta’s approach to expanding AI capacity.

Meta Faces Higher Costs Amid AI PushMeta reported total expenses of $42.03 billion in the quarter, up 55% year over year. Management attributed expense growth to employee compensation, infrastructure costs, legal expenses and third-party AI token costs.

Li said second-quarter operating income was $18.8 billion, down 8% year over year, with a 31% operating margin. Excluding legal charges and severance expenses, operating income would have increased 9% year over year.

The company also highlighted ongoing regulatory risks, including youth-related legal matters that could affect future financial results.

META Addresses Analyst Questions on AI ReturnsA Morgan Stanley analyst asked about which AI opportunities could scale first and generate measurable returns. Zuckerberg responded that Meta sees potential across core business improvements, consumer products, APIs, business agents and compute monetization rather than relying on a single opportunity.

A Goldman Sachs analyst questioned how Meta would approach enterprise opportunities and capital needs. Zuckerberg described business agents as an extension of Meta’s existing advertiser relationships, while Li emphasized a mix of operating cash flow, debt and partnerships to support infrastructure investment.

A JPMorgan analyst asked about recommendation improvements from larger AI models. Li said Meta expects continued gains through more personalized recommendations, stronger data infrastructure and expanded use of large language models in ranking systems.

Meta Maintains Focus on AI Growth RoadmapMeta’s management maintained that AI remains the company’s primary strategic priority, with efforts spanning consumer assistants, business agents, advertising improvements and infrastructure expansion.

The company expects third-quarter 2026 revenues of $61 billion to $64 billion and raised the lower end of its full-year expense outlook to $165 billion to $169 billion after incorporating legal charges.

Meta Built a Win-Win AI Risk Profile That Keeps Me Buying
FB Meta Platforms
FMP Stock News
Original source text
© Rawat Yapathanasap / Shutterstock.com

I keep hitting the buy button on Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:META | META Price Prediction) because it is the rare AI story where I do not need the AI part to work for the math to work. That is what keeps pulling me back. If Mark Zuckerberg delivers “personal superintelligence to billions of people,” my upside is uncapped. If he does not, I still own the most profitable advertising machine on the planet, and it keeps mailing me cash while I wait.

That is the win-win risk profile in one paragraph, and the receipts are why I do not flinch when the stock has a week like this one, where shares slid 7.95% from $681.31 to $627.17.

The Core Ad Engine Is a Fortress Start with what funds everything. In Q1 2026, Meta reported revenue of $56.31 billion, up 33.08% year over year, on ad impressions that grew 19% while average price per ad rose 12%. EPS of $10.44 beat consensus by 56.79%, the fifth consecutive beat. This is a business with an 82% gross margin, a 41.44% operating margin, and a 30.24% return on equity, serving 3.56 billion daily users across Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, and Threads.

The balance sheet backs the ambition. Debt to equity sits at 0.386, net debt to EBITDA at 0.47, and interest coverage at 71.48x. Meta paid roughly $1.35 billion in dividends in Q1 at $0.53 per share, and repurchased $26.25 billion of stock in 2025. At a P/E of 23, I am paying a market multiple for a business with mega-cap profitability and a free cash flow yield of 3.35%.

Why Meta and Not the Obvious Alternatives The two names a reader would reach for instead are Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOGL) and Snap (NYSE:SNAP). I own some Alphabet too. Meta gets the incremental dollar because the monetization signal is cleaner: 19% impression growth and 12% pricing growth in the same quarter is the kind of dual expansion Search cannot mechanically produce. Snap I pass on entirely. It is a social ad peer with smaller scale and profitability challenges, and I am not interested in buying operating losses when Meta is compounding a 41.44% operating margin.

The Real Risk The thing that could hurt me is the capex line. Meta raised 2026 capex guidance to $125 billion to $145 billion, expenses are running up 35%, and Reality Labs lost another $4.03 billion in Q1 on top of $19.2 billion in 2025. Reddit is loudly divided on this, with one 331-upvote post framing hyperscaler spend as an “AI bubble cracking” signal. I hear it. My response is that FY2025 operating cash flow was $115.8 billion, up 26.8%, and management still expects 2026 operating income above 2025. The core business is funding the bet in cash, not debt.

Forward Conviction The prediction crowd assigns a 94% probability Meta beats again on July 29, and the analyst consensus target sits at $822.69. I keep buying because the downside is a cash-gushing ad monopoly and the upside is superintelligence, and I have never seen a risk profile where both ends of the distribution pay me.

Act now: the analyst who called NVIDIA in 2010 just named his top 10 AI stocks — and Meta didn't make the cut. Grab the names FREE today.

• Meta Platforms stock is taking a hit today. What’s behind META decline?

Meta’s AI Ecosystem Keeps ExpandingThe WhatsApp milestone came alongside several other engagement records across Meta’s family of apps.

Zuckerberg said Instagram now reaches two billion daily active users and Threads has grown to 500 million monthly active users. Meta AI also recorded daily active users jumped 60% following the rollout of the Muse Spark upgrade, underscoring how AI is driving engagement across the company’s platforms — not just within its standalone assistant.

Mark Zuckerberg Says AI Will Create An 'Infinite' Instagram
FB Meta Platforms
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Meta Wants AI To Become Instagram’s Third Content FeedToday, Instagram primarily surfaces content from two places: people users follow and creators they may not. Zuckerberg said AI is about to add an entirely new category.

“There are already two large sets of content to draw from — first from your friends and the people you follow, and second from creators that you don’t follow — but now there is going to be a whole new and nearly infinite universe of personalized content,” Zuckerberg said.

He said Meta’s newly launched Muse Image and Muse Video models will power that shift by generating highly personalized content tailored to individual users.

“This is going to make our services a lot more useful and engaging for people,” Zuckerberg added.

AI Is Already Reshaping InstagramMeta’s AI push is already producing measurable results across Instagram and Facebook.

The company said large language models are improving recommendation systems by developing a deeper understanding of both content and user intent, allowing Meta to surface more relevant posts and videos. On Instagram, global time spent grew at a double-digit rate during the quarter, driven largely by improvements to Feed and Reels recommendations.

Susan Li, Meta’s chief financial officer, also revealed that every public Reels and Feed post on Instagram is now automatically processed through a large language model that analyzes everything from topics to tone before feeding those signals into recommendation and ranking systems.

The company also rolled out its largest-ever Reels ranking upgrade, which drove a 15-basis-point increase in Instagram sessions. Meanwhile, more than half of all recommended content in Instagram Feed is now less than one day old—more than double the level seen a year ago.

Why It Matters For InvestorsMeta has spent years relying on creators and user-generated content to drive engagement. Zuckerberg’s latest comments suggest the company now sees AI-generated content as another long-term growth engine.

If AI can continuously generate personalized images, videos and other media that users find engaging, it could significantly expand the amount of content available on Instagram while keeping people on the platform longer—creating more opportunities to serve advertisements.

The strategy also extends beyond content recommendations. Zuckerberg said AI is already improving ad targeting, creative tools and business performance, reinforcing Meta’s broader view that artificial intelligence will become a core driver of future engagement and monetization across its apps.

Meta says AI is making it easier to build new apps — and more are coming
FB Meta Platforms
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Meta is using AI to quickly launch apps, and more are on the way. During this week’s second-quarter earnings call, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the social giant has new apps in the works, following a recent spate of other launches that included an app for Marketplace sellers, one for Facebook Groups, a vibe-coded gaming app, a newphotos app from Instagram, and an experiment involving AI bedtime stories.

Meta has spent years trying and failing to produce new, standalone social apps to complement its core platforms. Now, the company says that large language models (LLMs) make it possible to ship software faster, allowing it to test new ideas at a quicker pace.

“I’m…excited about how AI is helping our teams speed up product development,” Zuckerberg told investors on Wednesday’s call. “Earlier this year, we shipped Instagram Instants. We also just launched Forum, a standalone Groups app, and Seller, a standalone Marketplace app. I expect it to become a lot easier to ship new apps. So we are planning to build out more ideas and use our recommendation systems to scale them,” he said.

“AI is improving our core business; it’s making our apps more relevant and delivering better results for businesses. We’re starting to deliver more novel products, and we’ll have a lot more there soon as well,” Zuckerberg said.

Meta has been down this road before. In its earlier days, Meta (then known as Facebook) ran an internal incubator called Creative Labs, which aimed to test new social concepts.

That effort produced a handful of launches: the photo-sharing app Slingshot, an anonymous chat app Rooms, a Flipboard competitor called Paper, the Moments photo-sharing app, and a collaborative video app known as Riff. Those experiments came to an end in 2015, and the apps were eventually all shuttered, as the company struggled to find an audience for its efforts.

In the early 2020s, Meta tried again, this time with an internal R&D group, NPE Team, which tested apps that included the chat app Bump, social music app Aux, task app Move, dating app Spark, calling app CatchUp, zine maker E.gg, events app Venue, creator Q&A app Hotline, Cameo competitor Super, couples app Tuned, music app BARS, and others.

Again, none became a breakout success, and the apps were shut down.

Now Meta can point to at least one example of how AI is helping new apps scale. It has finally delivered a modest hit with Threads, which now has 500 million monthly active users. Zuckerberg likes to say Threads will one day become the company’s next billion-user app.

With Threads, Meta learned to heavily lean on its existing user base to help initially seed the app with people, then continued to heavily promote it across its existing platforms, including Facebook and Instagram. But LLMs are another key factor in Threads’ growth, as the company said it sees “significant gains” from its AI-powered content recommendations.

“We are finding that LLMs are increasingly capable of delivering ranking and recommendations gains,” Meta’s CFO Susan Li told investors on the call. “First, they make our existing systems smarter by understanding what the content is actually about and generating better training data. Second, LLM-powered agents are also helping with engineering development by evaluating content quality, detecting trends, and testing ranking changes.”

Li added that earlier this year, Meta reached a milestone: every Reel and Feed post on Instagram is now automatically processed through an LLM and analyzed for topic and tone, which helps improve recommendations.

The company is also developing LLM-native recommendation systems, which could help it to better scale new apps as they arrive.

Investors didn’t follow up with company executives to ask more questions about the new apps Meta has in the works, as they were more concerned with AI spending and Meta’s growing enterprise ambitions. However, Zuckerberg suggested that people won’t have long to wait to see what’s next, saying the “new consumer products” were “releasing soon.”

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Bloomberg/Getty Images Meta has more than a quarter trillion dollars in future lease obligations — largely tied to AI data centers — as the tech giant races to build out its artificial intelligence infrastructure, a new regulatory filing shows.

In its quarterly securities filing released a day after its earnings report, Meta said it had approximately $278.99 billion in operating and finance leases that have not yet begun and were not yet included on its balance sheet.

The lease agreements cover "data centers, colocations, and certain network infrastructure" and were scheduled to begin between the remainder of the year through 2036, Meta said in the filing. The lease terms range from more than one year to 30 years.

The nearly $279 billion figure represents a roughly 53% jump from the $182.88 billion in future lease obligations Meta reported in its first-quarter filings three months earlier.

Meta said in its latest securities filing that in July, after the quarter ended, it entered into additional data center leases with commitments of about $68 billion. Those leases are expected to begin in 2027 and 2028 with lease terms of 18 to 20 years, the company said.

The disclosures offer another glimpse into the extraordinary scale of Meta's AI infrastructure push.

Earlier this month, the owner of Facebook and Instagram announced plans to expand what was already expected to be its largest AI data center. Meta said that the Louisiana data center, known as Hyperion, will grow to 5 gigawatts of compute capacity, bringing the project's anticipated cost to more than $50 billion.

On Meta's second-quarter earnings call Wednesday, CEO Mark Zuckerberg said a "significant portion" of the company's computing capacity will be used to train its AI models, power AI agents, and support its core business. Zuckerberg added that Meta also expects to "grow a large business serving large customers as well."

Separate from its future lease obligations, Meta reported $349.31 billion in non-cancelable contractual commitments comprising both short-term and long-term arrangements.

"These commitments mostly relate to third-party cloud capacity arrangements and investments in servers and network infrastructure, data centers, and consumer hardware products in Reality Labs, with approximately $53.52 billion and $81.65 billion due in 2026 and 2027, respectively," Meta said in its filing.

Meta also said it has contingent obligations to purchase up to $14.72 billion of cloud capacity over the next five years. Those commitments "may be reduced if the cloud service provider is able to sell such capacity to other customers," Meta said.

Wall Street sets Meta stock price for the next 12 months
FB Meta Platforms
FMP Stock News
Original source text
As Meta Platforms, Inc. (NASDAQ: META) stock wiped out more than $160 billion over the past 24 hours, more than a dozen Wall Street analysts set its 12-month price target on July 30.

On Thursday, Lloyd Walmsley, an analyst at Mizuho, reiterated an ‘Outperform’ rating for META stock. Walmsley lowered the firm’s 12-month price target to $750 from $835, which represents a 10.18% decline. With Meta shares trading at $533.27 at press time, he signals a potential 40.64% upside.

“We remain buyers on the dip and expect a near-term compute monetization product. While Meta did not outline definitive plans to sell compute today, management indicated it will have ‘more to share’ on AI monetization soon,” Walmsley noted.

Walmsley expects Meta to expand its AI (Artificial Intelligence) monetization through products such as compute, coding tools, API (Application Programming Interface) access, and Business AIs, while highlighting continued strength in its advertising business. He noted that advertising revenue growth excluding foreign exchange (FX) accelerated by 60 basis points on a two-year basis, with the high end of revenue guidance implying roughly 4 percentage points of sequential acceleration in Q3.

The analyst also said the increase in FY2026 cost guidance reflected only a legal fine, while the unchanged high end of capital expenditure guidance leaves FY2027 expectations largely unchanged.

As all the Wall Street analysts signaled bullish sentiment for Meta shares, 42 analysts surveyed by TipTanks have issued an average 12-month price target of $764.92, implying a possible 43.18% upside.

Among other experts who reiterated a Buy rating for this company today are Ken Gawrelski, an analyst from Wells Fargo & Co. (NYSE: WFC), Jeffrey Wlodarczak from Pivotal Research, and Brad Erickson, a researcher at RBC Capital.

Price outlook META stock price has fallen more than 11% over the past 5 days, trading at about $533.27 at the time of reporting. The stock tumbled after its latest Meta quarterly earnings report revealed that ballooning AI infrastructure costs squeezed profit margins and reduced free cash flow, hence missing Wall Street’s expectations, as Finbold explained.

frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture">

00:23 Americké trhy pohledem technické analýzy
03:11 Výsledky Microsoftu a Mety
06:58 Výsledky Komerční banky a Erste Bank

To pozoruji i teď,“ říká Vlček.

Nejsledovanější událostí týdne byly výsledky technologických gigantů Microsoft a Meta Platforms.

Horizon Gold advances Gum Creek toward development after robust June quarter DFS
FB Meta Platforms
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Horizon Gold Ltd (ASX:HRN, OTC:HZGLF, FRA:HO0) strengthened the development case for its 100%-owned Gum Creek Gold Project during the June quarter, completing a definitive feasibility study (DFS) that outlined a potential 10-year operation producing 880,000 ounces of gold.

The study confirmed a pathway to first production in the second half of 2028, with average output targeted at 98,000 ounces per annum during the first five years and 88,000 ounces annually across the full mine life.

Based on a gold price of A$5,500 per ounce, Gum Creek is forecast to generate pre-tax free cash flow of A$1.85 billion, a pre-tax net present value of A$1.31 billion and an internal rate of return of 53.1%.

Pre-production capital has been estimated at A$350 million, including mine development, construction of a 2.4-million-tonne-per-annum processing plant and supporting infrastructure.

The project is expected to achieve payback within 23 months of first production and operate at an all-in sustaining cost of A$2,995 per ounce.

DFS establishes development pathway The open-pit DFS is underpinned by a production target of 25.1 million tonnes grading 1.19 g/t gold for 962,000 contained ounces, of which an estimated 880,000 ounces would be recovered.

A maiden probable open-pit ore reserve of 18.2 million tonnes at 1.24 g/t gold for 728,000 ounces supports the development plan.

The reserve is drawn from seven priority deposits, with Swan and Swift contributing the largest portion at 392,000 ounces, followed by Howards with 186,000 ounces and Kingfisher with 71,000 ounces.

Horizon said the project had been demonstrated to be technically, economically and environmentally viable, with production forecast to peak at 114,000 ounces in the second year of operations.

The company is targeting completion of the project approvals process in time for a final investment decision in the second quarter of 2027.

Subject to approvals and financing, construction is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2027 and take around 12 months.

Horizon will now progress detailed engineering, upgrade the existing accommodation camp, begin early contractor involvement and advance tenders for major equipment and services.

The company is also working with its financial adviser to assess project funding options.

Exploration drilling delivers further upside Alongside the DFS, Horizon continued an extensive exploration and resource development campaign across Gum Creek, with strong results returned from the Omega, Kingfisher, Swift, Eagle and Goldfinch prospects.

At Omega, four diamond holes extended high-grade mineralisation more than 120 metres down plunge beneath the historic workings.

Results included 14 metres at 2.87 g/t gold from 337 metres, including 8 metres at 4.60 g/t, as well as 17 metres at 1.40 g/t from 315 metres, including 5 metres at 3.81 g/t.

Structural analysis is underway to refine the geological model ahead of further deep infill and extensional drilling.

At Kingfisher, the initial seven-hole diamond program confirmed the company’s geological interpretation and identified an additional mineralised shoot about 200 metres down plunge to the north.

Quarterly results included 5 metres at 2.42 g/t gold from 338 metres, including 3 metres at 3.56 g/t, and 4 metres at 2.37 g/t from 407 metres, including 1 metre at 8.09 g/t.

Two diamond rigs remain active at Kingfisher, testing the newly identified northern shoot and seeking to upgrade inferred resources within the upper and central high-grade zones.

Shallow drilling supports resource growth Reverse circulation drilling at Swift returned several high-grade intercepts outside the current resource model.

The strongest result was 6 metres at 5.13 g/t gold from 95 metres, including 2 metres at 14.7 g/t, while another hole returned 5 metres at 4.28 g/t from 146 metres, including 2 metres at 10.28 g/t.

Diamond extensions to three pre-collared holes are planned to test the main Swift lode at depth and provide further structural information ahead of a mineral resource update later in 2026.

At Eagle, drilling extended known mineralisation about 300 metres south of the existing resource model.

Results included 3 metres at 6.62 g/t gold from 43 metres, including 1 metre at 16.35 g/t, and 13 metres at 1.50 g/t from 34 metres, including 6 metres at 2.77 g/t.

Horizon is also preparing a maiden mineral resource estimate for Goldfinch after drilling returned 4 metres at 6.19 g/t gold from 75 metres to the end of the hole and 3 metres at 5.11 g/t from 73 metres.

Resource estimation work is also advancing at Shrike South, where drilling tested shallow extensions beneath and along strike from historical open-pit workings.

Funded to advance Gum Creek Horizon completed the entitlement offer component of a A$30 million capital raising during the quarter, securing about A$10.18 million before costs.

The raising followed a A$20 million placement completed in the previous quarter, with proceeds allocated to the Gum Creek feasibility program, an 80,000-metre exploration campaign and general working capital.

Horizon finished the June quarter with A$24.05 million in cash after spending A$4.63 million on exploration and evaluation activities.

Why Is Meta Platforms Stock Sinking Thursday?
FB Meta Platforms
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Meta reported second-quarter revenue of $60.8 billion, topping the analyst consensus estimate of $59.5 billion. However, adjusted earnings of $6.18 per share missed expectations of $7.13. The company also raised the low end of its 2026 capital expenditure outlook to a range of $130 billion to $145 billion.

Despite the selloff, Jefferies analyst Brent Thill and CNBC’s Jim Cramer said Meta still has long-term upside. Both argued, however, that investors want clearer evidence that the company’s massive AI investments will generate meaningful revenue.

AI Spending Needs Stronger Revenue StoryThill told CNBC on Thursday that investors are looking for more clarity on the businesses that will fund Meta’s growing AI investments. He said the company has yet to clearly outline whether future growth will come from cloud computing, messaging, AI services or other initiatives.

He added that the debate reflects a broader concern across the technology sector: when generative AI investments will begin producing meaningful returns and how long companies can sustain elevated spending.

Jefferies Still Sees More UpsideThill reiterated his Buy rating and $825 price forecast on Meta. He said the company still has significant earnings growth potential and does not require a premium valuation to justify further upside.

He also described Meta as one of the least-loved large-cap internet stocks, saying it still has “more gas in the tank” and enough room to launch new products and services that can drive higher returns over the next year.

Cramer Calls For Greater Spending DisciplineCramer said Meta’s second-quarter results tested his confidence in management after the company missed bottom-line expectations and issued softer-than-expected guidance.

While he criticized Meta’s continued heavy AI spending and called for stricter cost discipline, he said he would continue holding the stock.

Cramer also urged the company to better monetize WhatsApp and take a more aggressive approach to litigation, adding that investor sentiment could improve now that uncertainty around the Federal Reserve has eased.

Meta Platforms Price ActionMETA Price Action: Meta Platforms shares were down 9.63% at $529.19 during premarket trading on Thursday. The stock is near its 52-week low of $520.26, according to Benzinga Pro data.

Meta Platforms delivered 28% YoY revenue growth in Q2, yet shares dropped 7% after hours due to headline EPS and margin concerns. Excluding $3.58B in one-time charges and a higher tax rate, META's core operating income grew 9% YoY, and margins remained robust. META's aggressive CapEx is fueling AI-driven ad improvements, business agent expansion, and new monetization layers, with tangible engagement and conversion gains.

Shares of Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:META | META Price Prediction) are down 9% in early Thursday trading to $530 and change, after Meta’s Q2 2026 results released Wednesday after the close failed to calm concerns about the company’s ballooning AI investment bill.

The move follows a Wednesday close of $585.61 and extends what was already a rough year for Meta Platforms stock, which was down 11% year to date heading into the report. On a one-year basis, Meta Platforms shares are now off 16%.

Bottom-Line Miss and Soft Guide Trigger the Selloff Meta Platforms delivered Q2 revenue of $60.8 billion, up 28% year over year and ahead of the $60.2 billion consensus. The company’s advertising revenue also came in ahead at $59.3 billion.

However, Meta Platforms’ diluted earnings per share (EPS) of $6.18 missed the $7.14 to $7.22 range, down 13% year over year. The company’s total costs and expenses jumped 55% to roughly $42 billion, including $2.4 billion in legal charges and $1.18 billion of severance tied to May’s headcount reduction.

Furthermore, Meta Platforms raised the low end of its 2026 capex range to $135 billion to $145 billion, and offered Q3 2026 revenue guidance of $61 billion to $64 billion, a midpoint below Wall Street’s expectations. Q2 capex of $31.08 billion shrank free cash flow to $784 million from roughly $8.6 billion a year earlier. Meta Platforms CEO Mark Zuckerberg told investors there’s “nowhere near enough compute for all the demand.”

Wall Street Slashes Meta Platforms Price Targets Ten major firms cut their Meta Platforms price target overnight, though most kept bullish ratings. Barclays moved to $780 from $830 (Overweight), Bank of America to $810 from $835 (Buy), Citi to $800 from $850 (Buy), and Goldman Sachs to $725 from $815.

SoFi Active Invest is offering a limited-time promotion. Open an account, fund it with $50 or more, and you could receive up to $1,000 in complimentary stock for Active Invest accounts. See for yourself by clicking here now.

The cuts got sharper further down the list. Guggenheim went to $700 from $800, KeyBanc to $780 from $790, Piper Sandler to $785 from $800, UBS to $715 from $766, and Wells Fargo to $640 from $835. JPMorgan cut to $640 from $725 and remained the lone Neutral. The shared concern: limited visibility into monetizing AI compute spend beyond advertising, plus a growing capex, free-cash-flow, and return on invested capital (ROIC) overhang.

Hyperscaler Split: Microsoft Rewarded, Meta Platforms Punished Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) reported the same evening and MSFT stock is up 15% Thursday morning as investors reward tighter capex framing and clearer AI monetization. Alphabet‘s (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Google has faced similar capex pressure recently, with Alphabet stock down 5% over the past month even after a strong report last week.

On the picks-and-shovels side, NVIDIA (NASDAQ:NVDA) remains a direct beneficiary of the same hyperscaler capex the market is now scrutinizing. NVIDIA stock is up 2% Thursday morning.

Sector ETF exposure amplifies the read-through. The Communication Services Select Sector SPDR Fund (NYSEARCA:XLC) carries META at 19.75% and Alphabet’s two share classes at a combined 19.15%, so nearly 38.90% of the fund sits in two names. The ETF is down 3% Thursday.

What Investors Can Watch Next Investors can watch for whether META stock holds the $530 level. The Reality Labs loss of $4.62 billion on $431 million of revenue and the raised $130 billion to $145 billion full-year capex band leave little room for further disappointment. Position sizing in Meta Platforms stock should reflect that risk.

Meta stock plunges 9% overnight; Here's why
FB Meta Platforms
FMP Stock News
Original source text
In the night between July 29 and July 30, Meta Platforms (NASDAQ: META) stock followed one of the most common trends among big tech equities in 2026: it suffered a severe price plunge shortly after publishing its quarterly earnings.

Specifically, after sliding 1.31% from $593.41 to $585.61 in the regular session preceding the filing, META shares collapsed 9.24% to $531.50 by press time on Thursday morning.

Meta stock price one-day chart. Source: Google Overall, Mark Zuckerberg’s company is down 18.28% year-to-date (YTD), with the total market capitalization collapse amounting to roughly $320 billion following the plunge from $1.67 trillion at the end of 2025 to $1.35 trillion in the July 30 pre-market.

Examining the document covering Meta Platforms’ performance in the second quarter (Q2) of 2026, earnings per share (EPS) appear to be the most obvious culprit for the fall. Indeed, Q2 EPS came in at $6.18 – well below the expected $7.22.

Digging deeper reveals other factors that lead shareholders to lose confidence. Specifically, Meta’s revenue guidance proved lighter than the expected $63.15 billion, as it came in at between $61 billion and $64 billion for a middle estimate of $62.5 billion.

Meanwhile, the company’s free cash flow fell from $8.5 billion one year earlier to just $784 million, and capital expenditure (CapEx) projections slightly increased to between $130 billion and $145 billion from between $125 billion and $145 billion.

Notably, investors have been penalizing blue-chip technology companies for increasing their CapEx plans due to the effect they have on free cash flow, the vast amounts of money already spent, and for continuous efforts to obscure actual returns.

In recent years, most big tech firms expended much effort making predictions regarding the benefits of artificial intelligence (AI) and claiming they are seeing substantial returns, but few actual numbers got published.

Lastly, a saving grace in Meta Platforms’ filing came in the form of Q2 revenue, which, at $60.80 billion, came in above the forecasted $60.17 billion.

Meta's AI splurge lays bare its compute conundrum
FB Meta Platforms

SummaryCompaniesSelling AI services more profitable than selling computing power: ZuckerbergMeta weighs selling compute at a premium against building out its AICFO Li says AI capacity is valuable because the industry underbuiltMeta shares down 9% in premarket tradingJuly 30 (Reuters) - Meta (META.O), opens new tab can simultaneously fuel its own AI ambitions and rent out its scarce computing capacity to bolster returns, CEO Mark Zuckerberg signaled on Wednesday. The problem is: investors aren't buying it.

The Instagram owner is splurging billions to build compute - chips, servers, energy and data centers that power AI - leaving ‌it with free cash flow of just $784 million in the second quarter to run and grow its business. That collapse, of 91% from a year ago, drove its stock down 9% premarket on Thursday.

Get a daily digest of breaking business news straight to your inbox with the Reuters Business newsletter. Sign up here.

Pressed by analysts for details on Meta's plans, Zuckerberg framed compute as a scarce strategic asset that the company should keep and build around, rather than simply sell for short-term profit.

But he acknowledged that the company had received a number of offers for its computing capacity from businesses that wanted to deploy their own AI plans "at a meaningful premium" over what it invested to build that capacity.

That tension sits at the heart of Meta's challenge in diversifying its revenue stream. Renting out compute could ease Meta's cash-flow squeeze, but would also divert scarce resources from its own push to build AI models and services.

Having built its fortune selling ads on Facebook and Instagram, the company is now trying to take on larger rivals including Microsoft (MSFT.O), opens new tab, Alphabet (GOOGL.O), opens new tab and Amazon (AMZN.O), opens new tab that have deep ties to enterprises, an early and lucrative market for AI.

Microsoft on Wednesday showed how its AI bets were paying off even as its free cash flow fell 23%. The Windows maker breezed past expectations for growth in its Azure cloud unit and Copilot assistant thanks to a huge base of corporate customers and its early AI build-out, sending its stock up 8%.

SPENDING LIKE A CLOUD GIANT"We believe that there will continue to be a significantly higher margin on selling intelligence rather than selling compute directly, but we think that there's a big opportunity obviously to sell compute as well," he said, as he painted a picture of what Meta hopes to build with its AI spending spree.

Zuckerberg argued that AI-powered personal assistants could become a mass-market product used by billions of consumers, while business agents could eventually help companies handle customer service, sales and marketing.

But beyond broad references to subscriptions and enterprise services, he offered few specifics on how those businesses would justify Meta's massive AI spending.

Responding to a question from J.P.Morgan analyst Doug Anmuth, who noted that Meta was ‌also purchasing capacity from third parties while selling compute, Zuckerberg said Meta was intentionally investing ahead of demand.

"There is a lead time where we're investing in building out these data centers now. They come online at some point in the future. You obviously are not getting value out of them until they're online," he said.

"Meta is spending like a hyperscaler without a hyperscaler's business model," said Josh Gilbert, online investing platform eToro's lead APAC analyst, referring to large cloud companies.

"Microsoft, Alphabet and Amazon can point their data centre dollars at cloud businesses that sell compute straight back out the door, but Meta doesn't have the same outlet, so every dollar of build-out leans on the ads business."

METAVERSE SCAREMeta's massive AI spending push has unnerved some investors, who are drawing parallels to the company's costly pivot to the metaverse - a bet that racked up tens of billions of dollars in losses without becoming a large revenue generator.

Its free cash flow slump in the April-June quarter was the steepest since late 2022, when the metaverse bet attracted similar investor scrutiny.

Still, Meta raised the low end of its capital spending forecast by $5 billion, lifting the range to between $130 billion and $145 billion.

That echoes Alphabet, which raised its own forecast by $15 billion last week, reported its first cash burn on record and was punished with a 7% share drop.

Meta CFO Susan Li said on a post-earnings call that the spending was justified because the industry had "underbuilt historically" for AI demand, making existing capacity "extremely valuable."

She said capacity would remain tight "for the foreseeable future," creating opportunities for Meta to generate returns through products, enterprise services and compute sales.

But responding to a question from Wells Fargo analyst Ken Gawrelski on whether Meta planned to internally use all its compute capacity through 2027, Li ended the call much as Zuckerberg had started it: arguing Meta could find profitable uses for additional compute both inside and outside the company, without indicating where those returns would ultimately be the greatest.

"The earnings call felt a lot like a good old-fashioned brainstorming session," said Bernstein analyst Mark Shmulik.

American Rare Earths advances NASDAQ strategy as US policy strengthens Halleck Creek outlook
FB Meta Platforms
FMP Stock News
Original source text
American Rare Earths Ltd (ASX:ARR, OTCQX:ARRNF) has reaffirmed its commitment to securing a NASDAQ listing as it positions the Halleck Creek Rare Earths Project to benefit from growing US demand for domestically sourced critical minerals.

The company is evaluating several potential routes to the US exchange, including a direct compliance listing, a US initial public offering and alternative transaction structures available to developers with American critical minerals assets.

A leading North American financial adviser has been engaged to assess transaction structures, market timing and investor positioning, although no final decision has been made on the preferred pathway.

US listing preparations advance American Rare Earths is progressing the technical and financial reporting work required to support a US listing.

BDO Audit Pty Ltd is leading the company’s Public Company Accounting Oversight Board audit process, which is a prerequisite for listing on NASDAQ.

In parallel, the company is converting the mineral resource and reserve reporting for Halleck Creek to the US Securities and Exchange Commission’s Regulation S-K subpart 1300 standard.

This work is intended to provide US investors, analysts and regulators with technical disclosures prepared under the framework required for SEC registrants, while enabling American Rare Earths to move quickly once a listing structure is selected.

Chief executive officer Mark Wall said NASDAQ was the right market for the company given the scale and strategic importance of its flagship US asset.

“Our flagship Halleck Creek project is a US asset of strategic national significance, and our listing platform should reflect that,” he said.

US policy supports domestic rare earths The listing strategy comes as the US Government moves to further reduce reliance on critical materials sourced from countries including China, Russia, Iran and North Korea.

American Rare Earths highlighted Executive Order 14415, signed on July 20, 2026, which restricts waivers relating to covered materials from January 1, 2027 and directs defence contractors to qualify alternative domestic supply sources.

The company believes the order strengthens the demand outlook for US-mined and processed rare earths and reinforces the strategic importance of Halleck Creek.

The order also recognises acquisitions from US Government-supported critical minerals projects, potentially providing a clearer route for qualifying domestic developments to participate in defence-linked supply chains.

American Rare Earths plans to continue engaging with US Government stakeholders as associated supply-chain mapping and domestic-source qualification regulations are developed over the next 90 to 180 days.

Halleck Creek development Halleck Creek in Wyoming hosts what the company describes as the largest known rare earth deposit in the United States on a total rare earth oxide basis.

The Cowboy State Mine area is being assessed as a potential open-pit operation on Wyoming State land, where the project may benefit from an established permitting framework.

Feasibility-stage drilling is underway alongside a Whole of Property Development Assessment being completed by a US engineering firm.

Development plans contemplate onsite mineral processing and separation facilities, with the project targeting markets including defence, advanced manufacturing, electric vehicles, wind energy and semiconductors.

Next steps American Rare Earths will continue assessing its NASDAQ listing options while advancing the PCAOB audit and S-K 1300 conversion work.

The company will also progress feasibility studies, drilling, permitting and broader development activities at Halleck Creek, with project execution remaining central to its strategy.

About American Rare Earths American Rare Earths is a critical minerals developer focused on building a domestic US rare earths supply chain.

Through wholly owned subsidiary Wyoming Rare (USA) Inc, the company is advancing Halleck Creek and working with US Government-supported research programs on new rare earth extraction and processing technologies.

I Was Wrong About Meta Earnings, But the Stock Is Still a Buy
FB Meta Platforms
FMP Stock News
Original source text
Meta Platforms (META -1.31%) tumbled on its second-quarter earnings report Wednesday.

The stock was down more than 10% at one point after hours, as it badly missed bottom-line estimates, with expenses jumping in part due to one-time costs for legal proceedings and severance payments.

Earnings per share fell from $7.14 to $6.18, well below the consensus at $7.22.

I predicted Meta Platforms would spike on the report, but that didn't happen. The company delivered strong results on the top line, with revenue up 28% to $60.8 billion, beating estimates at $60.3 billion, as the core advertising business drove 14% growth in ad impressions and a 12% increase in average price per ad.

However, investors were understandably more focused on falling profits and its capital expenditures, which are now expected to be $130 billion-$145 billion, as free cash flow in the quarter was less than $1 billion, including payments on finance leases. Management also did little to assuage concerns about overspending on capex, saying that it saw a "massive" opportunity in AI.

Management also seemed less enthusiastic about its new cloud business than investors had hoped, as the company still prefers to use its AI chips internally, where it says it gets a higher return on investment.

Why the stock could bounce back Meta's sell-off is reminiscent of Alphabet's last week, when an otherwise solid report was marred by an increase in capex to around $200 billion, leading to its first quarter of negative free cash flow as a publicly traded company.

However, this isn't a typical earnings miss. This is a dominant company making a choice to spend aggressively to be a leader in the next major technology, AI. Paying for the infrastructure to do so is expensive, but Meta has a fast-growing, high-margin ad business to support it, and that business looks as strong as ever.

If the after-hours pullback holds, Meta stock will be trading at a price-to-earnings ratio of just 21, and adjusting for one-time tax penalties, it trades at a P/E of just 18. That's an unbelievable bargain for a company expected to continue growing revenue by more than 20%.

At this point, it seems that investors are betting that Meta's AI investments won't deliver any returns, but that's a low bar for the company to overcome, and it creates substantial upside potential if they do pay off. If needed, the company can scale back on its AI investments, and investors can reap the benefits of the blockbuster ad business at a dirt cheap price.
