History Suggests That You'll Regret Not Buying This Struggling Tech Stock | FMP Stock News
|
Original source text
It has been a rollercoaster year for the "Magnificent Seven" stocks, the name given to tech titans Nvidia, Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, Alphabet, Tesla, and Meta Platforms (META +1.74%). Of the group, only Meta and Tesla are in the red for the year, down 1.2% and 18.8%, respectively, through market close on Sept. 10.Both have their fair share of issues, but Meta is a struggling stock that seems to have plenty of upside from its current level. And if history is any indication of what's possible, you may regret not investing while it's having an off year. Premium Feature Moneyball Superscore 79/100 Today's Change ( 1.74 %) $ 11.29 Current Price $ 659.32 Why is Meta's stock struggling? No single issue is dragging down Meta's stock; it's a combination of factors, with the two main ones being its AI spending and its ongoing regulatory issues. This year, Meta is slated to spend between $130 billion and $145 billion on AI-related projects, such as building data centers and other infrastructure. In the second quarter (Q2), it spent $31 billion, which, for perspective, is more than all but 26 public companies have made in profits in their past four quarters combined. Meta's heavy spending weighed on its free cash flow, which fell from $13.2 billion in Q1 to $1.7 billion in Q2. As expected, investors are rarely happy when a company's spending slashes its free cash flow by so much. META Capital Expenditures (Quarterly) data by YCharts Regarding regulatory concerns, Meta recently reached a proposed settlement of up to $18 billion due to claims that its apps were purposely addictive and contributed meaningfully to teen mental health decline. The court case had loomed over Meta for years, and although $18 billion isn't cheap, it's much less than what the company could have faced in a full trial. California, Colorado, Kentucky, and New Jersey had sought penalties up to $1.4 trillion. All things considered, Meta has probably never been happier to spend $18 billion. Can Meta finally start justifying its spending? One of Meta's first attempts to address investor concerns over its AI spending is the recently announced release of its personal AI agent, Muse. While companies like ChatGPT's creator, OpenAI, and Claude's creator, Anthropic, have pushed their enterprise and coding tools heavily, Muse is more consumer-focused. Of course, ChatGPT and Claude benefit consumers as well, but Muse is more of a personal assistant for everyday tasks. Meta's stock jumped more than 6% in after-hours trading on Sept. 8 after the release. Time will tell just how effective (and lucrative for Meta) Muse ends up being, but the current bright side is that Meta has found a direct way to monetize its AI tools. Image source: The Motley Fool. Meta is still an undeniable cash cow Stock price struggles aside, one thing you can't take away from Meta is how much money it keeps making. In the second quarter, total revenue rose 28% year over year to $60.8 billion, with $59.4 billion coming from advertising across its Family of Apps (such as Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp). Meta's main goal is to attract eyeballs, and it continues to do so at a high rate. It has 3.6 billion daily active users across its apps; Instagram has over 2 billion daily active users; and Threads now has over 500 million monthly active users. Maybe more important than the user figures themselves is that Meta has increased how much it makes per user. Its average revenue per person jumped up 24% year over year to $16.86. More eyeballs and more money coming from eyeballs is a winning strategy for the social media giant. With consistent growth and a strong financial position, Meta's stock looks like a good value right now, trading at 24.6 times its earnings. The only "Magnificent Seven" stocks trading lower are Amazon and Alphabet. |

Prediction: Meta Stock Has More Upside Than Its Valuation Suggests | FMP Stock News
|
Original source text
Meta trades cheaper than the S&P 500 despite explosive growth and 3.6 billion daily users, and the math behind one bold price target exposes just how much the market may be underestimating this stock. This post may contain links from our sponsors and affiliates, and Flywheel Publishing may receive compensation for actions taken through them. I’ve been watching Meta (NASDAQ:META | META Price Prediction) trade like the market forgot what it owns. Shares sit at $648.03, down 1.66% year to date and off 13.42% over the past year, even as CEO Mark Zuckerberg told investors that Meta’s ad business is posting “faster year over year revenue growth than any other company’s reported ad business.” That disconnect is why I think $900 in 2027 is a serious conversation. Why Wall Street Is Already Halfway There The Street’s consensus price target is $757.31, backed by 47 Buy and 8 Strong Buy ratings against zero Sell calls. Analysts model 2027 EPS of $33.94 on revenue of roughly $306 billion, with the high end reaching $40.31 in EPS. Estimates have drifted lower on legal charges and capex, but the top of the range shows what bulls see if AI monetization compounds. Math to $900 Per Share Meta trades at a forward P/E of 19, cheaper than the S&P 500’s roughly 22x multiple despite quarterly revenue growth of 28% year over year and a 30.1% net profit margin. At $900, Meta would trade around 27x consensus 2027 EPS. Hit the high-end $40.31 estimate and the multiple compresses to just 22x. For a business with 30.24% ROE and 3.6 billion daily users, that is not demanding. What could push shares to $900: AI ad engine: Meta says internal model upgrades drove an 8.3% increase in ad clicks and a 15.7% uplift in conversions on Facebook, with Advantage Plus at a $75 billion annual run rate. Superintelligence Labs: Zuckerberg said “We’re on track to deliver personal superintelligence to billions of people.” Enterprise agents: More than 1 million businesses already use Meta business agents weekly. Ray-Ban Meta glasses: Zuckerberg called them “one of the fastest growing consumer electronics of all time”, with a Connect refresh set for September 23, 2026. Beat history: Meta topped EPS estimates every quarter from Q1 2024 through Q1 2026 before the Q2 miss tied to one-time charges. History Says This Kind of Move Is on the Menu A move to $900 requires roughly 39% upside. Meta has cleared that bar repeatedly, including a 72.61% gain over five years and 413.83% over ten. Quantitative models point to a 12-month base case of $810.08 and a bull case of $860.61. Bottom Line on $900 The risks are real. $2.4 billion in Q2 legal charges, Reality Labs losses near $4 billion per quarter, and $130 to $145 billion in 2026 capex squeezed free cash flow to just $784 million last quarter. But with a cheap multiple, an ad engine still growing 27%, and a credible AI product roadmap, $900 in 2027 is the blueprint. Returns like that are never a given, but Meta has the machinery to deliver them. Contact [email protected] for any questions or corrections. |

Why is Meta stock gaining in premarket today | FMP Stock News
|
Original source text
Meta Platforms META stock rose 2.2% in premarket trading Monday after Goldman Sachs reiterated its bullish view on the social media company, citing the launch of its Muse AI agent and a recent legal settlement as catalysts for the shares. The move came as broader US equity futures fell after AI executives called for a slowdown in AI development. Goldman maintained a Buy rating and a $725 price target for Meta. The bank said it now holds its positive view “with increased conviction” and sees “a clearer catalyst path for the shares going forward” following the settlement and Muse launch. Goldman said the consumer AI market is undergoing a shift from passive chatbots toward proactive, autonomous agents that can carry out real-world tasks, including travel bookings, shopping and bill negotiations. The bank highlighted Muse as Meta’s full-scale personal AI agent, available through dedicated apps, the web and WhatsApp. Powered by the Muse Spark 1.3 model, the agent can browse the web, fill out forms, make purchases and coordinate long-term goals. Meta has launched Muse as a paid subscription, marking its first major move into paid consumer AI. The offering ranges from a free tier to plans costing as much as $100 a month. Goldman sees potential for Meta to expand monetization beyond subscriptions through commerce and advertising over time. However, the bank expects Meta to prioritize user adoption rather than monetization during the early stages. Goldman also pointed to Meta’s scale and distribution as a key advantage. The company has billions of daily users across Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp, giving it a user-acquisition advantage that startups may find difficult to match. The bank had previously described Meta as transitioning from a “wall of worry” stock toward a company capable of productizing and monetizing its computing investments. It also identified Meta’s Sept. 23 Connect event and potential new model releases as additional catalysts. Meanwhile, Cathie Wood’s Ark Invest increased its exposure to biotechnology and AI during the past week, with Meta among its largest purchases. Ark bought 43,000 Meta shares worth about $28 million, making the company the investment firm’s biggest purchase in the AI and technology segment. Ark also purchased more than 32,000 shares of Cerebras Systems worth $6.5 million and made a smaller addition to Kratos Defense & Security Solutions. In space and mobility, Ark bought about 576,000 shares of Archer Aviation worth roughly $3 million and made smaller additions to Rocket Lab. The firm also purchased 27,000 shares of Robinhood Markets worth $3 million, alongside smaller additions to the 3iQ Solana Staking ETF. On the sell side, Alphabet led Ark’s technology sales. The firm sold 86,000 Alphabet shares worth $28.6 million. Ark also sold about 19,000 AMD shares worth $9.9 million, along with $6.5 million in Palantir Technologies and $4.25 million in Bullish stock. |

I own a house rental business near a future Meta AI data center. Construction workers make up most of our tenants. | FMP Stock News

As told to You're currently following this author! Want to unfollow? Unsubscribe via the link in your email.Angel and Bryan Crawford opened a mobile home park in northeast Louisiana in 2025. Angel Crawford This as-told-to essay is based on a conversation with Angel Crawford, who owns 18 rental properties in northeastern Louisiana and runs a third-party website connecting tenants with property owners. Construction for Meta's largest-ever AI data center has begun in Holly Ridge, an unincorporated community about 10 minutes away from her home in Delhi. My husband and I have been in Delhi for four years. We're originally from this area, but we've moved around because of our nursing careers. I was a quality manager, and my husband was a director of case management. We were empty nesters looking for something to do, so we started with real estate and rentals because they are very much needed in this area. It's very rural here, so when there are fluctuating prices in the market, it doesn't really hit us because there are never enough houses for sale or rent. In 2024, we started buying older houses that had been on the market for a long time or needed a lot of work. We had a vision to create a mobile home park and already purchased some land when we heard about Meta's data center. That's what pushed us to keep going forward. We understood there wasn't enough housing for residents, and our dream of building more multifamily houses was right in line to do that. Around here, people feel one way or the other about the data center. Either people are excited about the opportunities, or they hate it. There's no in between. I see it as an opportunity for us to have more experiences in our area and jobs for our children, so they can stay here instead of moving away. We began Parish Line Properties, which now operates 18 properties, in 2024. I also created StayNELA, a third-party website to connect listing agents with tenants, in 2025. The impact of Meta's data center on real estateParish Line Properties has 18 homes, and 14 of those are workforce housing. Location is very important to Meta's workers because they work six to seven days a week and 12-plus hours a day. They leave around 4:30 in the morning, and they don't come home until 7 at night. One of the big things my tenants tell me is that if they live in Dallas and it's 30 miles to work, it takes about 30 minutes. Well, in rural areas, 30 miles could take 60 minutes because of all the back roads and little towns you have to go through. The closer they can get to the job site, the better. A fully-furnished four-bedroom, two-bathroom home that's eight miles from the data center costs an average of $3,000 a month. I don't have any problem with getting tenants in those homes at that price point. Before Meta arrived, an unfurnished house in the same area would probably go for around $1,200 to $1,500 a month. We've assured our local long-term tenants that we won't increase their rent. That's not what we're about. We're not going to put local tenants in a bind. We're going to find different and new properties to help with workforce housing. We opened our Antley Pines mobile home park in December 2025. We added two homes last December, four this May, and our last four in July. All the homes were secured by deposits from Meta workers before we even got them into the park. Separately, I created StayNELA because there weren't many resources for anybody who wasn't a local to find rental homes. I did a lot of research for several months by driving around the area and looking at all the different signs in people's yards or at four-way stops that you couldn't read properly. I kept a log, took pictures, and kept them in a folder on my phone. If anything was on Facebook about a rental, I saved it. When I finally took the leap to design a webpage, I reached out to everybody that I had found through phone numbers, Facebook posts, and listings. I'm not a real estate agent, so I'm helping people advertise. When I list a property, I include the owner's phone number so potential tenants can go straight to the owner of that house. My goal was to bridge that gap for people looking for rentals here from other states. The impact of Meta's data center on the local economyEach home in our mobile park is on one-fourth of an acre. After Meta's gone, we can sell them individually or rent them out. We've seen a lot of laundromats, RV parks, and mobile home parks come to the area. It's great for the economy in our area because people who we've worked with who install electrical systems, septic systems, plumbing, gravel, and all those things are busy because Meta's here. For example, getting a property surveyed is extremely hard, whereas it used to be pretty easy. Before, you could call them, and they'd say, "Yeah, I'll be there to come do your survey in a week or so." Now, you have to get on a list and wait for your turn. Prediction: This Tech Giant Could Be Worth Twice as Much by 2030 | FMP Stock News
|
Original source text
Meta is burning through capital at a pace that would make most CFOs flinch, yet the math behind a potential share price doubling by 2030 is more credible than Wall Street's one-year thinking suggests.Meta (NASDAQ:META | META Price Prediction) is spending like it is trying to buy the future. Capex of $31.1 billion in a single quarter, a full-year 2026 capital budget of $130 billion to $145 billion, and a data center venture with BlackRock (NYSE:BLK). Yet Meta shares are actually down 2.21% year to date and off 14.03% over the past year. The site title asks whether this stock can double by 2030. That means $1,300. I think there is a path, and I want to show it to you (the buildout that gets Meta there also lifts the power, cooling, and networking suppliers we profiled in a free AI infrastructure report). What’s Holding Meta Back Right Now The top line looks healthy. Q2 2026 revenue grew 28% year-over-year to $60.8 billion. The problem is what is happening below revenue. Total expenses jumped 55%, dragged higher by $2.4 billion in legal-proceeding charges and $1.2 billion in severance. Operating margin compressed to 31%. Free cash flow collapsed to $784 million from $8.55 billion a year earlier. Investors are also digesting a Q2 EPS miss of $6.18 versus $7.22 expected, which snapped a six-quarter beat streak. With a beta of 1.243, the stock swings hard on that kind of confidence hit. Wall Street is split on where it goes next. That skepticism is the setup. Wall Street Sees Upside. Our Model Sees More The consensus target sits at $754.15, with 8 Strong Buy, 47 Buy, 7 Hold, and zero Sells. That is about as clean a bullish setup as you find on a mega-cap. Our own base case lands at $787 for a 12-month upside of 19.81%, with a bull case of $858.01 and confidence rated high at 0.9. Here is where I push back on the consensus. It is largely one-year thinking. 89% of ratings are bullish, yet analysts are still modeling EPS pressure. Our 5-year base case is $1,080.54 by December 2030, and the bull case is $1,198.43. Neither reflects a scenario where personal agents and business agents scale into real revenue lines. Path to $1,300 Per Share Reaching $1,300 from today’s price of $644.38 would require a gain of 101.7%. With forward EPS of $40.09, a price of $1,300 implies a forward P/E of 32x. Our base case of $787 already implies 20x, meaning the bold target requires roughly 12x of additional multiple expansion. That is a lot. But the compression story writes itself if EPS grows into the multiple. Meta’s ad engine keeps compounding: ad impressions rose 14% and price per ad rose 12% in Q2. The GEM ad ranking model drove an 8.3% increase in ad clicks on Facebook and a 15.7% uplift in conversions. Advantage Plus is at a $75 billion annual revenue run rate. CEO Mark Zuckerberg told investors, “We are now at a point where our investments in AI are accelerating every major part of our core business.” The primary risk is that 2026 capex of up to $145 billion keeps pressuring free cash flow before monetization catches up. Where Meta Trades Today vs Its Earnings Power Meta’s current forward P/E sits at roughly 16x on $40.09 in forward EPS. For a business growing revenue 28% year over year with a 34.8% operating margin, that is cheap. Shares trade between the 52-week high of $788.22 and low of $519.78, closer to the middle than the top. Long-term holders have earned 405.06% over ten years. That decade of compounding is the reminder that Meta rewards patience when it is spending heavily. Is $1,300 Realistic? Here’s My Take Doubling to $1,300 by 2030 requires a gain of 101.7% and a forward P/E of 32x. That is a stretch. But three things make it plausible: ad monetization keeps scaling on AI-native ranking, business agents on WhatsApp and Messenger become a real revenue line, and capex intensity peaks by 2027 so free cash flow reinflates. What derails it is a prolonged margin drought where compute costs outrun monetization. Returns at this level shouldn’t be expected every year, but we’ve outlined the blueprint for how Meta could reach $1,300 in 2030. Contact [email protected] for any questions or corrections. |

Why Meta Platforms Stock Only Bumped Slightly Higher on Friday | FMP Stock News
|
Original source text
Meta Platforms (META +0.57%) ended the week with a small but encouraging piece of good news. This concerned the company's quarterly dividend, which it's been doling out since early 2024. Investors like consistency, particularly in the frequently volatile and disruptive tech sector. Meta's stock closed the day up by 0.6%.Going steady Well, after market close on Thursday, Meta said its board of directors declared a new quarterly payout of just under $0.53 per share of its Class A and Class B common stock (of the two, Class A is the one that is publicly traded). Image source: Getty Images. The dividend is to be paid on Monday, Sept. 28, to stockholders of record as of Sept. 21. At the most recent closing price, it would yield 0.3%. Meta has paid a quarterly distribution in every quarter since March 2024, when it initiated the payout at $0.50 per share. Since then, it has only been raised once, with the March 2025 lift to the current level. Premium Feature Moneyball Superscore 79/100 Today's Change ( 0.57 %) $ 3.65 Current Price $ 648.03 Better reasons to buy With that wafer-thin yield, we can confidently say that few investors buy and hold Meta stock for the dividend. So ultimately it's more of a morale booster than anything; still, if I were a shareholder, I'd be pleased that the company is at least providing a few coins from its vast free cash flow. With that, I'd say an investment in Meta should be far more heavily weighed toward the company's growth potential. This remains considerable given the size and reach of its Facebook in particular, which, after many years, remains an irresistibly attractive platform for any kind of advertiser. TikTok rejects Meta ads urging firm to join landmark child safety settlement: report | FMP Stock News
|
Original source text
TikTok reportedly declined to run ads from Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta urging the company and fellow social media rival YouTube to join the Instagram parent’s landmark child safety settlement.Meta’s historic $18 billion settlement with a coalition of state attorneys general came with some bizarre terms. Meta is initially only required to pay 70% of the money, or $12.7 billion. It pays the remaining $5.3 billion if TikTok and YouTube agree to cough up $5.3 billion total themselves, along with imposing measures like a one-hour daily time limit on teens. The rejected video ad featured a voiceover pressuring TikTok and YouTube to take action, Axios reported, citing sources familiar with the matter. TikTok informed Meta on Wednesday that it wouldn’t run the ads because they violate its policy against advertising with “political content.” Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta tried to buy ads to run on TikTok. AFP via Getty Images “To truly empower parents and keep teens safe across the apps they use the most, TikTok and YouTube need to step up and meet the standard we’ve set with state attorneys general,” Meta said in a statement on the nixed ads. “While it’s disappointing that they’ve chosen not to engage, we remain hopeful that they’ll do the right thing,” Meta added. So far, YouTube and TikTok have remained silent in public about Meta’s pressure campaign, which began almost immediately after the settlement terms were announced on Aug. 26. That day, Meta published an open letter asserting that the deal would only “be truly effective if we work with our peers — TikTok and YouTube — to put the same measures in place.” Neither TikTok nor Google were defendants in the federal case that resulted in the settlement – though some of the attorneys general involved the lawsuit have demanded that they agree to similar guardrails or face action. TikTok reportedly rejected the ads for violating its policy against political content. REUTERS Officials from TikTok and Google were set to appear at an event for the Department of Health and Human Services last week centered on screen time and other online safety issues, according to a copy of the agenda obtained by The Post. However, both companies ultimately pulled out of the event. Separately, the House Select Committee on China said TikTok “reneged on its commitment” to participate in a September roundtable event. Bloomberg was first to report on TikTok’s decision not to join the event. Rep. John Moolenaar (R-Mich.), the committee chair, said in a statement that TikTok was “refusing to appear citing its own desire to avoid broader scrutiny of its child safety practices.” TikTok reps did not return The Post’s request for comment. |

AppLovin vs. Meta Platforms: Which Technology Stock Is a Better Buy in 2026? | FMP Stock News
|
Original source text
Investors evaluating AppLovin (APP +2.95%) and Meta Platforms (META +0.89%) are comparing two different approaches to digital advertising. One is a high-growth software specialist while the other is a global social media titan.AppLovin provides the technology that helps mobile apps find and monetize users. Meta Platforms connects the world through its apps while selling highly targeted advertising space. Both companies are utilizing artificial intelligence to maintain their competitive advantages in 2026. The case for AppLovinAppLovin serves as a critical bridge in the mobile economy by helping developers grow their businesses. Its core technology, Axon, uses artificial intelligence to match advertisements with the users most likely to engage with them. As one of the prominent tech stocks in the mobile space, it recently divested its internal apps business to focus entirely on third-party software solutions. In FY 2025, revenue reached nearly $5.5 billion, representing a significant 70% increase over the prior year. This expansion was accompanied by net income of approximately $3.3 billion. The company achieved a net margin of 60.8%, which measures how much of every revenue dollar is kept as profit after all expenses. As of its December 2025 balance sheet, the debt-to-equity ratio was roughly 1.7x, which compares total debt to the value owned by shareholders. The current ratio, measuring the ability to cover short term obligations with current assets, was a strong 3.3x. Free cash flow for the period reached $3.9 billion, representing the cash remaining after paying for operating costs and capital investments. The case for Meta PlatformsMeta Platforms operates the most expansive social network in the world through Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. Its Family of Apps serves nearly 3.6 billion daily users, providing a vast audience for advertisers ranging from small businesses to global brands. The company is also investing heavily in its Reality Labs division to develop next-generation mixed-reality hardware and software. For FY 2025, the company reported revenue of close to $201.0 billion, which grew by roughly 22.2% year over year. Net income for the period was approximately $60.5 billion. Meta maintained a net margin of 30.1%, demonstrating its ability to generate high levels of profit even while investing billions into future technologies. According to its December 2025 balance sheet, the debt-to-equity ratio was approximately 0.4x, indicating a relatively conservative use of debt. The current ratio stood at roughly 2.6x, providing a healthy cushion for day to day operations. Free cash flow was highly robust at $46.1 billion, allowing the company to fund its ambitious AI research and return capital to shareholders. Risk profile comparisonAppLovin faces intense competition from global technology leaders that control the mobile operating systems. Its growth is partially dependent on the policies of Apple (AAPL +2.12%) and Google regarding data privacy and app distribution. Furthermore, the company must manage the integration of recent acquisitions and address ongoing federal securities class action litigation regarding its financial disclosures. Meta Platforms relies heavily on advertising revenue, which can be sensitive to broader economic downturns and shifts in consumer spending. The company faces a complex web of global privacy regulations like the GDPR and has recently settled significant litigation involving youth safety. Continued high spending on AI and virtual reality also carries the risk that these expensive investments may not generate immediate financial returns. Valuation comparisonAppLovin carries a much higher premium relative to its annual sales. MetricAppLovinMeta PlatformsForward P/E17.4x19.9xP/S ratio15.3x7.3xValuation metrics sourced from Financial Modeling Prep (FMP) and may differ from other data providers. I'd go with Meta, though AppLovin has built one of the most profitable software businesses in digital advertising, with margins that most companies would envy and an AI engine expanding into new verticals. AppLovin's Q2 revenue miss and below-consensus guidance were disappointing, but the underlying business model is sound. Meta's Q2 was messy on the surface. Earnings missed estimates as legal charges, severance costs, and a dramatic increase in AI infrastructure spending all hit at once. But strip those one-time items out and the core advertising business is performing at the highest level in years. Revenue grew at a strong double-digit rate, more than 3.5 billion people used a Meta app every single day, and Instagram crossed 2 billion daily active users for the first time. Meta is betting enormous amounts of capital on AI, which introduces uncertainty worth taking seriously. But the scale of its user base and advertising platform gives it a foundation that AppLovin simply cannot match. For a long-term investor, owning the platform that reaches more than half the world's population is a stronger starting point. |

Meta: The Market Misunderstanding Of This Stock Is Quite Baffling | FMP Stock News
|
Original source text
Meta Platforms, Inc. stays firmly at Buy for me, with AI and personal intelligence as strategic growth pillars despite recent litigation headlines on the social media addiction case settlement. The $18 billion settlement's financial impact is relatively muted, spread out over a decade, and has a relatively insignificant effect on its annualized free cash flow. META's Muse AI personal agent launch signals grand ambition in personal superintelligence, but near-term monetization and conversion rates remain uncertain, keeping valuation subdued. |

Mark Zuckerberg's $100-a-Month Muse Bet Signals Meta's Desperate Pivot Away From Ads | FMP Stock News
|
Original source text
Meta just put a price tag on its AI ambitions, and the number reveals something uncomfortable about how dependent the company still is on a single revenue stream that has nothing to do with subscriptions. This post may contain links from our sponsors and affiliates, and Flywheel Publishing may receive compensation for actions taken through them. On Tuesday morning, CNBC’s Julia Boorstin reported that “Meta is unveiling a personal AI agent that Mark Zuckerberg has been teasing for months”, a product Meta calls Muse that ships as a standalone app and inside WhatsApp. Boorstin said Muse “gives users a personalized agent which can act like an assistant. It can monitor security cameras, file, fill in paperwork, find items to buy, or can book tee times.” The key number: Meta released Muse with a free tier and two paid tiers, the higher-priced at $100 a month, positioning the product between OpenAI’s $20 ChatGPT Plus and its $200 Pro plan. For shareholders in Meta (NASDAQ:META | META Price Prediction), this matters because every dollar the company has earned from consumers historically came from advertising sold against free products. Asking a Facebook user to hand over a credit card each month is a genuinely new business model. The stock is not acting as the market has priced that in. META closed at $613.48 on Tuesday, down 18.19% over the last year. Why the Pricing Matters More Than the Feature List Meta AI Chief Alex Wang said, “We are incredibly excited about consumer AI. And we see today a very small number of people who have really experienced the power of advanced agents in these new models.” The category is wide open, but nobody has proven consumers will pay a subscription for a personal agent at any price, let alone $100 a month. The pricing itself signals to Wall Street that Meta is moving beyond its core story. The company has spent years telling investors AI would show up as better ad targeting, with $59.36 billion in advertising revenue in Q2. A paid tier creates a recurring line item independent of ad load and gives Zuckerberg a way to defend the $130 to $145 billion in 2026 capital expenditure the company just guided to. Why WhatsApp Is the Real Weapon OpenAI and Anthropic have mindshare. Meta has a messaging app installed on billions of phones. Meta ended Q2 with 3.6 billion daily active people across its family of apps, and management said WhatsApp is the leading surface where people engage with Meta AI. Business agents are the proof of concept: more than 1 million businesses already use them weekly on WhatsApp and Messenger. Compare that to Google (NASDAQ:GOOGL), which reaches consumers through a Gemini App with 950 million monthly active users, and Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT), which reaches workers through 30 million Copilot paid seats sold at roughly $30 per user per month. WhatsApp lets Meta skip the acquisition funnel. Users don’t download anything, and payment flows through a channel they already trust. What the Paid Tiers Say About Meta’s AI Spending Meta’s Q2 free cash flow collapsed to $784 million from $8.55 billion a year earlier, with capital spending hitting $31.1 billion in the quarter alone. Long-term debt climbed to $83.66 billion to fund the buildout. Full details are in the Q2 8-K. Analysts have noticed, with 45 downward EPS revisions for fiscal 2026 in the last 30 days against only 4 upward. A $100-a-month subscription is how Zuckerberg starts answering the return-on-invested-capital question. Even modest paid conversion across a billion-user surface would meaningfully change the revenue mix. Alphabet is monetizing AI through Cloud, which grew 82% year over year in Q2. Microsoft is monetizing it through per-seat Copilot and Azure, which crossed $100 billion in annual revenue. Meta is the only one of the three still searching for a repeatable AI revenue line outside advertising, and the picks-and-shovels names powering all three buildouts (we rounded up seven of them in a free report on the AI infrastructure trade) are the ones capturing the capex right now. The Setup Now With META Stock The stock trades at a forward P/E of 18x, a discount to Microsoft’s 27x multiple, with an analyst target of $754.77. Muse is late to a market where ChatGPT already owns the noun. Distribution alone rarely closes a product gap, although WhatsApp is the closest thing to an unfair advantage anyone has brought to this fight. The bear case: free cash flow is thin, capex is climbing, and consumers may not pay $100 a month for an agent that overlaps with cheaper tools they already use. The bull case: Meta’s ad business is still growing 27%, the valuation is reasonable, and any paid AI revenue is upside the market has not underwritten. The setup favors investors who can tolerate capital-spending headline risk through 2027. If Muse conversion disappoints by next summer, that thesis has to be revisited. Meta at $645: Recent Momentum Makes One Thing Very Clear | FMP Stock News
|
Original source text
Meta just outran a falling market by more than 7 points in a single month, yet the stock still trails the S&P 500 by nearly 13 points year to date and carries a capex bill that cratered free cash flow…This post may contain links from our sponsors and affiliates, and Flywheel Publishing may receive compensation for actions taken through them. At $644.38, Meta (NASDAQ:META | META Price Prediction) screens attractively here. The stock has climbed 7.55% higher over the past month even as the S&P 500 slipped, and that divergence is the tell. Meta owns the world’s largest social advertising engine through Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, and Threads, and now runs a rapidly scaling AI stack anchored by Meta Superintelligence Labs and the MuseSpark model family. The company reaches 3.60 billion daily active people across its Family of Apps. The stock got there by surviving a bruising summer. Shares sold off after a Q2 miss and a raised capex bar, but the setup has quietly repaired itself as ad growth accelerated and AI product traction became visible. Why the AI Ad Engine Justifies a Higher Multiple Advertising revenue grew 27% year over year to $59.36 billion in Q2, with ad impressions up 14% and price per ad up 12%. Meta’s GEM ad-ranking system drove an 8.3% lift in Facebook ad clicks and a 15.7% conversion uplift, while Advantage Plus crossed a $75 billion annual revenue run rate. Valuation looks reasonable. Shares trade at 23x trailing earnings and 18x forward, with a PEG of 0.812, 30.2% ROE, and 41.4% operating margins. Business agents already serve more than 1 million businesses weekly, opening a subscription and API monetization layer beyond ads. Where the Capex Bill Could Break the Thesis Q2 free cash flow collapsed to $784 million from $8.55 billion, a 91.31% drop, as capex hit $31.1 billion. Operating margin compressed to 31% from 43%, and EPS of $6.18 missed by 14.42%, ending a six-quarter beat streak. Full-year 2026 capex guidance sits at $130 billion to $145 billion, expenses at $165 billion to $169 billion, and legal charges added $2.40 billion in a single quarter with youth-safety trials still ahead. A spend of that size flows straight to the power, cooling, and networking suppliers behind the data centers (we profiled seven of them in a free AI infrastructure report). Reality Labs continues to bleed, posting a $4.03 billion Q1 operating loss. If AI monetization slips, the returns math gets ugly fast. Why Patience Has an Argument Too The 2026 EPS consensus has drifted from $33.05 thirty days ago to $31.37, with 45 downward revisions against 4 upward in the last month. That is a real signal that the Street is still absorbing the spending ramp. A patient investor could wait for Q3 results, the Connect event on September 23, and resolution of youth-safety litigation before committing. The cost of waiting, though, is watching the stock rerate without you. What the Numbers Say About the Setup Meta trades at $644.38 against a consensus analyst target of $754.15, implying roughly 17% upside. The rating mix is decisively bullish: 8 Strong Buy, 47 Buy, 7 Hold, 0 Sell, 0 Strong Sell. Targets are one data point, not a promise. Performance tells the momentum story. Meta is up 5.52% over the past week and 7.55% over the past month, while the S&P 500 is down 1.97% and 1.64% over those windows. Year to date Meta is off 2.21% versus the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (NYSEARCA:SPY)’s gain of 11.15%, meaning most of the AI-capex reset is already in the price. Buy Verdict on Meta at Current Levels At $644.38, Meta screens as an attractive setup. Here is why. The path to appreciation runs through three near-term catalysts: Q3 revenue guided to $61 billion to $64 billion, the Connect keynote unveiling the EssilorLuxottica AI glasses lineup, and continued conversion gains from GEM and Advantage Plus. Any one of those printing cleanly recompresses the risk premium the stock has carried since July. The entry point matters. Buying at a forward P/E of 18 for a business growing ad revenue 27% with 30%+ ROE is the kind of setup that historically compounds. The bear case is fully visible in the price action: shares still trail the S&P by nearly 13 points year to date, and estimates have already been cut. The market has done the derisking. The thesis breaks if 2027 capex guidance shocks higher without matching revenue acceleration, if a youth-safety verdict lands materially above the $2.4 billion already booked, or if ad pricing rolls over. Watch quarterly free cash flow and the ratio of capex growth to ad revenue growth. When a mega-cap outruns a falling market on improving fundamentals and a compressed multiple, that is a meaningful signal. Contact [email protected] for any questions or corrections. |

Mark Zuckerberg May Have Found Meta's Next Hit. Would You Hand It Your Email and Passwords? | FMP Stock News

Meta's new AI agent Muse shot to third on the US App Store in two days, but the feature that makes it genuinely useful is the same one giving analysts pause: it needs your inbox, your accounts, and possibly your…This post may contain links from our sponsors and affiliates, and Flywheel Publishing may receive compensation for actions taken through them. Mark Zuckerberg has spent the past year telling investors that “personal superintelligence” would arrive through Meta (NASDAQ:META | META Price Prediction) apps that billions of people already open every day. Muse launched at the end of August and climbed to third place on the United States App Store within two days. JPMorgan responded with an Overweight upgrade tied to Muse’s early traction. An App Store ranking captures downloads over a short window, while engagement and revenue remain the metrics that matter. The more interesting question is what Muse asks of you: the agent is only useful in proportion to how much of your digital life it can access. That is also why some analysts are unconvinced. What Muse Actually Does Muse is pitched as a general-purpose assistant that manages email, plans travel, books restaurants, monitors subscriptions, compares prices, and completes purchases with user approval. To do any of that, it needs access to your inbox, calendar, accounts, and, in some cases, payment credentials. Meta says you approve each action, can revoke connections at any time, and receive an activity log. On the July earnings call, Zuckerberg said Meta launched incognito mode on WhatsApp and the Meta AI app so private conversations remain hidden, and framed privacy as “a fundamental part of the agents that we’re building.” After integrating Muse Spark, Meta saw “a 60% increase in the number of people interacting with the assistant each day.” The transcript does not specify how Muse handles email passwords or stored payment secrets. An Oppenheimer analyst questioned whether ordinary consumers will hand a social-media company the keys to their inbox. Distribution Is the Real Advantage Meta’s advantage over a standalone AI startup is reach. Family of Apps daily active people hit 3.6 billion in the second quarter, and more than 1 million businesses already use Meta’s business agents on WhatsApp and Messenger every week. Three plausible Muse revenue lines exist: subscriptions, shopping commissions when the agent completes a purchase, and business services sold to merchants. Zuckerberg described a “business in a box” ambition with subscription, volume, and performance-based pricing. The Brazilian rental-car company Movida saw a 44% increase in daily bookings through WhatsApp after deploying an agent, with 85% of conversations resolved without a human. Costs are heavier than revenue today. Meta’s second-quarter free cash flow collapsed to $784 million from $8.55 billion a year earlier, with full-year capex guided to $130-145 billion. All of that spending flows to the power, cooling, and networking suppliers behind the data centers, and we profiled seven of them in a free report on the AI infrastructure buildout. Trust as the Bottleneck Usefulness and intrusiveness are the same property. If you want Muse to catch a fraudulent charge or rebook a canceled flight, it needs account access, and each connection widens the blast radius of any breach. Meta’s regulatory history does not help the pitch. The company took $2.4 billion in legal charges in the second quarter alone and still faces U.S. trials scheduled for the year that may result in material losses tied to youth safety. Meta trades at a P/E of 23x after slipping 14.03% over the past year, with the stock at $644.38. The ad engine still grew 27% while Muse gives the capex story a consumer product to point to. On the current valuation and distribution advantage, META screens favorably for investors researching names that can tolerate the capex cycle and legal overhang. Original source text
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Bloomberg/Getty Images This spring, members of Meta's elite AI unit, TBD, decided that the social media giant needed an edge in the AI race. The edge they were looking for? Data from tens of thousands of Meta employees.Meta introduced a program to collect data from employees for AI training, called Model Capability Initiative (MCI). Employees' keystrokes and mouse movements could help Meta's AI replicate how humans use computers, a critical task as AI labs race to automate white-collar work like coding and accounting. But Meta had a very human problem: its own employees, who revolted over the mandatory project as soon as it was announced. Their resistance took the form of flyers, memes, and a viral petition against what some characterized as "the Eye of Sauron." Organizers say that their constant pressure forced Meta to make concessions and eventually drop the program. Corporate data has become a gold mine for training AI because it helps algorithms deal with messy, real-world work environments — and workers are increasingly fighting back. Former Spirit Airlines flight attendants temporarily blocked Google from buying the bankrupt airline's database for $10 million. Over 1,800 Meta employees signed a petition calling for the company's internal tracking to be stopped. Meta halted the tracking program after an internal data leak this summer, saying it would switch to being opt-in only. Two months later, Meta says the program remains suspended. The company declined to comment further for this article. This story is part of a new series called The AI Data Grab, examining how companies are racing to collect as much data as possible to build the world's most advanced AI systems. For this story, Business Insider interviewed half a dozen current and former Meta employees, and reviewed internal posts and other materials to uncover new details about how the program began, how workers fought it, and the leak that brought it to a halt. How Meta began its MCI programThe MCI program originated within Meta's AI unit, called TBD, a group of about 100 researchers widely considered the tip of the spear of the tech giant's AI efforts. One of the leaders of the effort was Rylan Schaeffer, three people told Business Insider. Schaeffer reported to two people at the apex of Meta's AI efforts: its AI chief, Alexandr Wang, and a top researcher, Jack Rae. According to his LinkedIn, Schaeffer left Meta in July to work on something new. He didn't respond to requests for comment from Business Insider. TBD members rarely interact with Meta's legions of other employees, working in a separate area within Meta's Menlo Park campus, according to two people familiar with the matter. Their online workplace profiles are sparse, displaying few details beyond their name — unlike more typical profiles, which showcase people's managers and what they're working on. One April morning, Meta announced the MCI program to the wider workforce. "While AI models excel at research and technical skills like coding, they still lack some of the basic ways that humans use computers like choosing from dropdowns and keyboard shortcuts," an internal announcement read. The announcement drew an immediate backlash and a slew of angry-face emojis after Meta's chief technology officer, Andrew Bosworth, said there would be no opting out. "This makes me super uncomfortable" was the top-rated comment in response to the announcement. Bosworth would become a lightning rod inside Meta for his staunch defense of MCI. He touted its strict privacy guardrails after a cybersecurity engineer asked how Meta would secure the data the program collects and accused the AI division of "moving fast and implementing security as an afterthought." Bosworth replied, "That isn't remotely a fair characterization! How would any of this end up in 'the open'? This is tightly controlled data." Meta employees fight the 'Eye of Sauron'The intense online backlash spurred a grassroots movement from Meta employees. Workers feared MCI would capture sensitive data that US workers plugged into their laptops, such as passwords, immigration forms, and credit card numbers, two organizers told Business Insider. Some workers said they also feared that the screen capture data would be used to replace scores of Meta employees with AI — a risk many hadn't taken that seriously before, a third organizer said, calling it a "big reality check." Employees posted anti-AI memes in an internal Meta employee channel. One meme seen by Business Insider portrayed Meta's management as the omniscient villain, Christof, from "The Truman Show." Employees jokingly dubbed the icon that appeared whenever MCI recorded their screens "the Eye of Sauron." An anti-MCI petition gained steam, garnering over 1,800 signatures. Staffers spelled out the link to the MCI petition on a building at Meta's Burlingame office. Meta workers protested the MCI program by putting up letters at Meta's Burlingame office. Courtesy of an anti-MCI organizer. A small group of activists within Meta spread flyers around campuses, making sure they included language from the National Labor Relations Act that speaking out against workplace issues is protected, one of the organizers said. In what the activists viewed as an early concession, Meta allowed employees to temporarily opt out of the tracking program for up to 30 minutes in June, during which they could perform more sensitive tasks they didn't want ingested by an AI model. It wasn't enough for Meta's anti-MCI activists, who called it "insufficient and unsatisfactory" in a statement to Business Insider at the time. "We demand, and will continue to demand, that Mark and his leadership team scrap MCI entirely, immediately, forever," they wrote, referring to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Soon, Meta's own security decisions would force its leadership to take drastic action. 'Hey Metamate, define the word 'hubris' for me'In late June, Meta engineers woke up to an internal post that had gone viral among employees. An engineer had discovered that data collected by MCI had been viewable across the entire company all along, including full private conversations. In an internal post, one employee wrote they were "incensed" that the scenario that some had warned about had come to pass. Their post was titled "MCI Data: Not So Tightly Controlled" and screenshotted Bosworth's earlier comment defending MCI's security. "Hey Metamate, define the word 'hubris' for me," another employee commented, referring to Meta's internal AI assistant. "I swear we're probably the richest yet most incompetent company to exist in tech right now," another chimed in. Within hours, Meta turned off MCI. It told Business Insider that it suspended — but not outright canceled — the program and that, going forward, it would be optional. Whether the data proved useful is another question. In a July Q&A with executives, a Meta manager said it had not been used to train its latest AI models, according to another person familiar with the matter. At a July town hall, Bosworth said the data was more useful than Meta thought it would be, according to two people familiar with the matter. Meta declined to comment on how, and if, the data was used. Companies may think twice about harvesting employee dataBosworth has made his position clear: MCI opponents didn't improve Meta. "They made the entire company worse," he said — three times — in a leaked July audio recording published by the activist group More Perfect Union. "I think the people who put up that petition on MCI thought they were helping. They weren't helping; they made it a lot harder for us to make changes internally," he said. To the people who worked against MCI, the opposite is true. Despite mass layoffs, they came together to push back against the harvesting of their data. They say their activism forced Meta to make the program opt-in, if it's ever reintroduced. "This would not have happened without brave acts of employee resistance," the MCI Petition website reads. After the intense backlash from Meta employees, other companies will think twice about forcing workers to give up their data to train them, said William Fitzgerald, the founder of advocacy and communications firm The Worker Agency. "It was a historic win," he said. "Zuckerberg wanted more data — he tried to do it this way, but it didn't work." Have a tip? Mark Zuckerberg's Meta Is Charging Consumers for a Personal AI Agent for the First Time. Here's What $20 and $100 a Month Could Add to Revenue. | FMP Stock News
|
Original source text
Meta Platforms (META -1.42%) launched Muse on Sept. 8 -- a personal artificial intelligence (AI) agent that can send emails, book travel, fill out forms, and negotiate on your behalf. The app is free, but heavier users can pay $20 or $100 a month for more capacity.Muse is the company's first personal AI agent, and the paid plans mark the first time Meta has charged consumers for one. Advertising made up about 98% of Meta's $60.8 billion in second-quarter revenue. How much could $20 and $100 subscriptions add to a machine like that? Less than you might think. And Meta's own executives are setting expectations low. Image source: Getty Images. A new kind of subscriptionMuse is built on the company's Muse Spark AI model and is available to U.S. users on iOS and Android, at muse.ai, and through WhatsApp. Unlike a chatbot, the agent does things for you. It can open a browser on its own, and it keeps working after you close the app. Meta has charged consumers before, of course. Meta Verified launched at $11.99 to $14.99 a month back in 2023. And this spring the company started testing Meta One, plans at $7.99 and $19.99 a month for heavier use of its Meta AI assistant. But Muse's top plan costs five times as much as the priciest of those. That said, most users may never pay anything. AI chief Alexandr Wang has said the vast majority of users should be able to do what they need within the free tier. The paid plans, he added, exist largely to cover computing costs for the heaviest users. How much revenue are we talking about?Every 1 million people paying $20 a month works out to about $240 million a year. Every 1 million on the $100 plan adds about $1.2 billion. Against an advertising business generating about $60 billion a quarter, even 5 million people on the $20 plan would amount to about half of 1% of annual revenue. Meta's own history shows how slowly these lines build. In the second quarter, the "other revenue" line in Meta's family of apps segment (the line that holds its consumer subscriptions plus WhatsApp paid messaging fees) topped $1 billion in a quarter for the first time, chief financial officer Susan Li said on the July earnings call. That was 73% growth from the year-ago quarter's $583 million, and it followed about $884 million in this year's first quarter. The dollars are stepping up quickly. But after three years of Meta Verified and every other plan the company sells, the line still makes up well under 2% of total revenue. In other words, the line is Meta's fastest-growing revenue source and still close to invisible in the results. Muse's paid plans will land in that same line, and I don't expect them to transform it. Meta priced the tiers to cover costsI think the paid plans look less like a profit engine and more like a way to make the heaviest users pay for the computing they use. And that computing is expensive. After all, Meta expects this year's capital expenditures to come in between $130 billion and $145 billion. Indeed, the spending is already showing up in Meta's cash flow. Second-quarter capital expenditures alone were $31.1 billion, and free cash flow shrank to $784 million from $8.5 billion a year earlier. A few million $20 subscriptions would barely register against numbers like that. Premium Feature Moneyball Superscore 79/100 Today's Change ( -1.42 %) $ -9.31 Current Price $ 644.38 Why bother with paid tiers, then? Because subscriptions are only the first way agents could make money. "[W]e're developing new personal agents that will be the foundation for our next wave of products and revenue lines in the months and years ahead," CEO Mark Zuckerberg said on the company's July earnings call. And Wang told CNBC that Meta is exploring taking a cut of shopping purchases completed through the agent, though it hasn't settled on a plan. Ultimately, Muse's paid plans won't meaningfully change Meta's revenue anytime soon -- and the company all but said so at launch. The investment case still rests on the ads business, which grew 27% from a year ago last quarter and is helping fund the agent effort. With shares around $658 as of this writing, the stock sells for about 19 times the earnings per share that analysts forecast for 2027, which is arguably a reasonable price for a business growing this quickly. So I’d still buy Meta shares here because of the overall value you’re getting relative to the price -- not just because of a $20 subscription. |

Meta is asking some of its employees to become managers again in a new reorg | FMP Stock News

Tom Williams/CQ-Roll Call, Inc via Getty Images Meta wants some of its employees to be managers again. The social media giant has been asking some individual contributors in its Applied AI (AAI) division to transition back into management roles as part of a recent reshuffle, four people with knowledge of the matter told Business Insider. This program is opt-in, a person familiar said. AAI is a newly-launched Meta division focused on training AI models. Meta launched the group this year and reassigned roughly 7,000 employees to it. Some of those people were previously managers and given individual contributor roles within AAI. Meta declined to comment. The move marks a partial reversal for Meta, which has spent much of the past year cutting middle management and promoting smaller, flatter teams as more efficient. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has praised lean startup-style organizations, particularly as AI takes on more work. Meta eliminated about 10% of its workforce this year through mass layoffs intended to "run the company more efficiently" and offset its huge AI investments. The layoffs heavily targeted managers, a Business Insider analysis of public layoff notices found. This isn't the first time Meta has reversed course on some of its internal initiatives. The company allowed some employees reassigned to AAI to leave the organization, after criticism from some employees that they had been "drafted" into the unit. Not all tech companies have fully embraced the manager-lite, small teams model. Uber, for example, announced it was cutting half of its "micro-teams" as part of recent layoffs. Have a tip? Top AI researcher Andrew Tulloch ditches Meta to work on training and inference at Anthropic By You're currently following this author! Want to unfollow? Unsubscribe via the link in your email.Anthropic's developer conference in May. Don Feria/AP Content Services for Anthropic After less than a year at Meta, the prominent AI researcher Andrew Tulloch is leaving for Anthropic. He'll start next week, an Anthropic spokesperson told Business Insider, and work on the startup's inference and performance team, where he'll aim to optimize the training of Anthropic's AI models and how they respond to users. As AI's talent wars steam on, Tulloch has become one of the most sought-after researchers. He had worked at Meta for 11 years prior to this latest stint, leaving for OpenAI in 2023. At OpenAI, he helped train its GPT-4o, GPT-4.5, and o3 models. He then cofounded Thinking Machines Lab in 2025. Last year, while he was working at the AI startup, he turned down a pay offer from Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg that could have totalled $1.5 billion, The Wall Street Journal reported. He ended up decamping for Meta in October. Now, Tulloch will bring that extensive experience to Anthropic. Tulloch and Meta did not immediately respond to requests for comment. He's leaving the social media giant shortly after it launched Muse, an AI agent meant to autonomously complete tasks for users. Anthropic, Meta, OpenAI, Google, and other tech companies have been in a pitched battle for AI researchers since the release of ChatGPT, giving experienced workers like Tulloch a great deal of leverage — and earning power. Semafor first reported that Tulloch was leaving Meta. For Anthropic, the hire may offer some calm in an intense moment. The company is preparing for its initial public offering, dueling with rivals for business, and reckoning with mounting concerns about the adverse effects of AI. The researcher Jacob Coxon sparked a wave of concern this week when he announced that he'd resigned from Anthropic and wrote that the "people building AI earnestly believe that it could kill us all by the end of the decade." Meta Shares Rise as Muse Cracks App Store's Top Three | FMP Stock News
|
Original source text
JPMorgan sees a new commerce engine, but early downloads cannot prove subscription retention or safe autonomous execution. SummaryMeta’s paid AI agent has early momentum; durable revenue still depends on trust and repeat use. Meta Platforms META, the social-media and digital-advertising giant, climbed approximately 0.6% to $657.645 Thursday morning as Muse surged to No. 3 in Apple's U.S. App Store just two days after launch. JPMorgan added fuel by upgrading the stock from Neutral to Overweight and lifting its price target from $640 to $820. Muse is built to do more than answer questions. The AI agent can coordinate calendars, message contacts, arrange trips, shop and handle multistep jobs across connected apps. U.S. customers can choose a free offering or pay $20 or $100 per month, while Meta says each user decides which services Muse can reach and keeps the agent's activity inside a dedicated virtual machine. The chart shows the stock trading 22.67% below its GF Value estimate of $850.42, signaling potential upside if Muse develops into a durable business. Still, an App Store ranking measures early curiosity—not customer loyalty or profitable transactions. Meta produced $60.80 billion in second-quarter revenue, but free cash flow shrank to $784 million as capital spending hit $31.08 billion. Muse now needs to prove it can generate recurring revenue instead of simply adding another expensive chapter to Meta's AI push. Mark Zuckerberg an AI Agent Winner Wednesday, Other Billionaires Not so Much: Top 10 $40 Billion Poorer | FMP Stock News

Original source text
Meta Platforms Inc (NASDAQ:META) was one of the better-performing large-cap stocks on Wednesday, with investors positively reacting to the company’s Muse personal AI agent rolling out. The stock surge helped boost the wealth of co-founder Mark Zuckerberg.• Meta Platforms shares are consolidating. Where is META stock headed? Zuckerberg’s Wealth SoarsThe increase in Meta’s stock price Wednesday helped boost the net worth of Zuckerberg by $13.7 billion, helping bring him near his starting year total. This took Zuckerberg’s overall net worth to $232 billion, ranking sixth worldwide, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. Zuckerberg is now down $1.3 billion in his net worth year-to-date, ranking as the richest person in the world to be down in net worth in 2026. Three of the top 10 richest billionaires overall are down year-to-date. The $13.7 billion gain marked the highest daily gain among all the world’s richest and made Zuckerberg the only top 10 billionaire who was positive in net worth gains and losses Wednesday. In fact, the top 10 billionaires lost a combined $40.35 billion Wednesday even with Zuckerberg’s gain factored in. Zuckerberg now finds himself closer to Michael Dell, who ranks fifth with a net worth of $254 billion. Read Next Meta’s Roller Coaster 2026Meta stock trades slightly down on Thursday, giving back a portion of the previous day’s gains. With the latest move, the stock is down 0.1% year-to-date or nearly flat in 2026. Wednesday’s share price was the highest for Meta since July, and also Zuckerberg’s highest net worth since that period when he was worth $241 billion. Meta stock hit all-time highs in 2025 and has failed to hit new highs in 2026. The stock saw a 2026 peak in late January before hitting yearly lows in March. Shares rebounded into a rally in May followed by a drop in June ahead of the July rally. Meta stock now trades at its highest level since then, but the question is whether the latest rally can hold or if shares will continue the pattern of selling off on positive news. Meta Added $100 Billion in One Day. A 350-Ad Scandal Arrived Hours Later. | FMP Stock News
|
Original source text
Meta's stock surged on the promise of an AI agent that wants access to your inbox, calendar, and payments. Then a cease-and-desist letter arrived, and the question of whether users will actually hand over those keys got a lot more…Meta (NASDAQ:META | META Price Prediction) had a very good Wednesday. Shares rose 6.55% after the company said interest in its new Muse personal AI agent had, per Investopedia, “blown way past” expectations, and early usage came in ahead of management’s projections. Hours later, San Francisco’s city attorney sent Meta a cease-and-desist letter tied to 350 advertisements identified by the Tech Transparency Project as containing or promoting AI-generated child sexual exploitation material across Facebook, Instagram and Threads, first reported by WIRED. The letter arrived after the move. The sequence matters, because the trade was about a product Meta wants you to hand over your inbox, your calendar, and your payments. The enforcement lapse is evidence about the machinery underneath. One Hundred Billion Dollars, Then a Letter Meta closed at $653.69, taking its market value to roughly $1.56 trillion. The stock is up 10.26% in a week. Muse can access other apps, send emails, and make payments, a materially different permission than a like button. Meta’s response to the ad findings was straightforward. It removed the material, earned a trivial sum from the ads, and does not tolerate such content on its platforms. Investors were trading Muse on Wednesday, and while the session closed before the letter landed, it reframes what Meta must prove next. Trust as a Product Input Meta’s ad business is enormous. Advertising revenue reached $59.36 billion in Q2 2026, up 27% year over year, and Advantage Plus crossed a $75 billion annual revenue run rate. Muse is a different sale. Mark Zuckerberg told analysts on July 29: “We’re planning to make strong privacy and security a fundamental part of the agents that we’re building as well.” That promise runs into the ad-review failure. If the systems policing paid content admit 350 examples of the worst-labeled material, the enforcement claim needs a stronger answer than revenue. Regulatory, Reputational and Product Fallout A municipal cease-and-desist can compel a response, seed civil litigation, and signal that state and federal actors will follow, even though it stops short of extracting damages or forcing a consent decree. Meta itself flagged “youth-related litigation with additional trials scheduled in 2026 that may result in material loss”, and booked $2.4 billion in legal charges in Q2 alone. Reputationally, this story reaches parents and school districts more than the trading desk. Retail sentiment on Reddit was still reading 88 on Wednesday morning. Product risk is the real one. If parents and enterprises hesitate to grant Muse access to email, payments, and calendars, the agent thesis compresses into a slower, narrower rollout than the Q3 $61-64 billion revenue guide implies. The Setup for META Stock Meta trades at 23x trailing earnings and 18x forward earnings, with an analyst target of $754.15 and 55 buy ratings against 7 holds. The ad business is compounding at a rate Zuckerberg calls “faster year over year revenue growth than any other company’s reported ad business”, and Muse is a real option on a new category. Against that, Q2 free cash flow fell to $784 million as capex ran to $30.12 billion, and the youth-safety docket is thickening. The setup skews constructive, with agent trust as the key variable to monitor alongside ad pricing. Contact [email protected] for any questions or corrections. |

Meta's AI agent Muse is now the No. 2 app in the US | FMP Stock News
|
Original source text
Meta is beginning to win over Wall Street following Tuesday’s launch of its new AI app, Muse. The tech giant’s push into agentic AI is also a hot topic on X among industry players. Now, early numbers offer better insight into how popular Muse actually is among its target market of U.S. consumers.According to new data provided by the market intelligence firm Sensor Tower, Muse has been downloaded north of 83,000 times on iOS in the United States. (The app is currently limited to the U.S. for now.) While this pushed Muse into the No. 2 position on the App Store’s Top Charts, its launch pales when compared with other recent app debuts from Meta, like Threads and Meta AI, the data indicates. For instance, Threads was downloaded more than 4.3 million times in the U.S. on its launch day, and the Meta AI app saw 108,000 U.S. downloads during its debut. Muse is also further behind when compared with another notable consumer AI app’s launch: ChatGPT. In less than a week after its arrival, ChatGPT had topped half a million installs in the U.S., which was also its only market at the time. If that spread was divided evenly, that would mean ChatGPT was seeing an average of 83.3K downloads daily at its debut — a number that it took Muse twice the time to achieve. None of this necessarily means that the Muse launch is going poorly — it may just be taking off at a slightly slower pace. The app is still climbing the charts on iOS, having moved up from the 4th position on the U.S. App Store on Wednesday to now No. 2 as of today. Its Android counterpart, however, is faring less well. Muse has only achieved a rank of No. 338 in the Productivity category on Google Play’s app marketplace. (Its Android download numbers aren’t yet available.) Muse is also available via the web and through WhatsApp, neither of which are being counted in these estimates. Still, Muse’s numbers, while early, are worth watching as the app represents one of Meta’s bigger bets to date. In short, the company believes that agents that work to get things done on people’s behalf will be the future of consumer AI — and it’s staking its claim on this emerging market. (It’s at least as significant a move as when the company rebranded from Facebook to chase its metaverse ambitions as Meta!) Meta, of course, is not alone in its pursuit of consumer-facing agentic AI. Every company has a horse in this race, it seems, from Google’s Gemini Spark to Anthropic’s Claude Cowork and beyond. But for simple-to-use agents aimed at the everyday person, the competition for now is between Meta’s Muse and Instinct, a new AI agent that works over text messages and was recently valued at $2.5 billion. Despite security concerns and an overly broad and permissive privacy policy, Silicon Valley insiders have been raving about Instinct’s capabilities. While there are plenty of other agents that focus more narrowly on things like managing work or family life, Instinct seems to be the one to beat, given the $350 million it now has at its disposal and the speed with which it’s shipping new features. This week, for example, Instinct has rolled out email addresses for all its users, and just announced it’s building its own social network of sorts — that is, one person’s Instinct agent can now talk to those belonging to their friends to coordinate plans. If agents are the future, then Instinct’s ability to build a new social graph based on who people actually talk to and hang out with in real life could be ultimately more valuable than Meta’s friend graph, which is a mix of people users actually know and those they just follow. Over the past several days, Instinct also launched integrations with Stripe and 1Password, and a location-sharing feature so the agent can take on actions that require knowing your current location. Muse’s launch timing could be another factor impacting its debut numbers. The agent, which requires users to provide Meta with more of their personal information, arrived only days after Meta agreed to a massive $18 billion multistate settlement in a lawsuit over social media’s consumer harms. The company’s reputation has also taken many other legal hits over the years, as it’s been involved in massive data scandals and has been targeted and fined multiple times by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission over privacy violations. Meta Platforms Agreed to Pay Up to $18 Billion and Set Some Limits for Younger Users. Is the Stock a Buy? | FMP Stock News
|
Original source text
Facebook's parent company, Meta Platforms (META -0.70%), reached an $18 billion settlement last month with 52 attorneys general across U.S. states, territories, and the District of Columbia to settle claims related to teen social media use and its impact on mental health. The lawsuit was a nightmare from a public relations standpoint, but the details of the settlement suggest it won't have much direct effect on Meta Platforms' business. The settlement, which Meta says includes $12.7 billion in payments over 10 years to the plaintiffs and $5.3 billion if YouTube and TikTok meet certain conditions, effectively becomes a manageable expense for the company that will do little to disrupt the core business model. Image source: Getty Images. The end of a major legal case The settlement of up to $18 billion ended up being a pretty good deal for Meta Platforms. The plaintiffs originally sought $200 billion, with Meta lawyers citing up to $1.4 trillion in potential damages. This highest figure almost matches Meta Platforms' market cap, and it would have taken the company multiple years of profits to pay it off. Premium Feature Moneyball Superscore 79/100 Today's Change ( -0.70 %) $ -4.58 Current Price $ 649.11 The changes Meta Platforms agreed to make to its social networks as part of the settlement also feel minimal. The changes include Facebook and Instagram adopting a combined two-hour daily time limit for users under 18, with prompts to try to stop uninterrupted scrolling. The company says a teen can turn these off with a parent's permission. "Night mode" will restrict access to feeds from midnight to 6 a.m for those under 18. These time limits and night mode remain in effect for five years. Meta said that if social media competitors Snapchat, TikTok, and YouTube adopt comparable terms, the daily limit on each platform will drop to 60 minutes for 10 years, and it will add three hours to night mode. A Gallup study from 2023 found that the average teen spent 0.9 hours per day on Instagram and 0.3 hours per day on Facebook. That comes to 1.2 hours per day, which is below the two-hour cap. For those seeking a meaningful solution to teen social media addiction, the settlement likely will not have a lasting effect. And while Meta Platforms has taken some knocks over this, the company has weathered similar controversies in the past. Meta Platforms manages to keep growing, regardless of its public perception. The company's financials remain solid Most of the numbers that investors care about are still trending in the right direction. Revenue increased by 28% year over year in the second quarter, while Meta Platforms' daily active users jumped by 3% year over year. The company also continues to boost its average revenue per user. Investors did show concern over a 14% year-over-year drop in net income in its most recent quarter. However, a forward price-to-earnings ratio of 18 makes up for it. The stock trades at a lower valuation than the S&P 500, even though Meta Platforms tends to deliver stronger fundamental results than the typical S&P 500 company. Meta Platforms is diversifying its business Rising capital expenditures are what hit net income, and they are tied to large investments in artificial intelligence. These investments should help diversify the company's revenue streams so it relies less on advertising. Right now, online ads account for nearly 98% of its total revenue. CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in the company's Q2 press release that AI is "powering our next generation of products and opening the door to entirely new enterprise opportunities." "Superintelligence" and AI glasses are some of the new products being developed. Unsurprisingly, there have been some bumps on the road. Meta Platforms' smart glasses are receiving backlash due to privacy concerns. Meta Platforms has worked to address the issue, and demand for smart glasses is gaining momentum. Meanwhile, Grand View Research projects a 24.2% compound annual growth rate for the smart glasses industry through 2033. What becomes clear is that there is a pattern for Meta Platforms, and issues like the recent lawsuit and settlement tend to be forgotten over time, especially when judged by the company's quarterly results. Controversies and calls to boycott Facebook have come and gone multiple times over the past two decades, but Meta Platforms continues to win over consumers with its products and services. |

JPMorgan Lifts Meta to $820 as Muse Reaches Number Three | FMP Stock News
|
Original source text
Anmuth says early Muse usage is running at 10 times the training cohorts SummaryJPMorgan upgraded Meta to overweight and raised its December 2027 target to $820 from $640. Meta Platforms Inc. META rose 0.78% premarket after JPMorgan upgraded it to overweight from neutral and raised its December 2027 price target to $820 from $640, implying more than 25% upside. The average target across analysts sits near $750. Analyst Doug Anmuth pointed to Muse, the AI agent Meta launched this week, which hit third in the US app store on its second day with early usage running at 10x the training cohorts. Anmuth wrote that Meta is "well-positioned to deliver consumer-driven AI products to its base of ~4B users, and that scaled distribution is a significant competitive advantage." He expects the rebound to continue, with the company still early in releasing frontier models and AI products beyond advertising. The stock is up 20% from an August low, helped by settling social-media trials last month, and gained 6.6% on Wednesday as analysts responded to Muse. After this upgrade, more than 90% of analysts tracked by Bloomberg rate Meta a buy, with the rest at hold and none at sell. Morgan Stanley Sees 25% Meta Gain on AI Upside | FMP Stock News
|
Original source text
Meta shares remain deep in the red over the past year, yet one Morgan Stanley analyst just staked out a target that towers above Wall Street consensus and hinges on an AI bet most investors have not fully priced in.This post may contain links from our sponsors and affiliates, and Flywheel Publishing may receive compensation for actions taken through them. Meta shares have been on a tear lately, but the longer look is more sobering. The stock is up 9.97% over the past week and 9.59% over the past month, yet still sits down 1.06% year to date and down 14.58% over the past year. It trades at $651.98, well off the 52-week high of $788.22. Most of Wall Street is measured here. The consensus analyst target sits at $754.15, backed by 47 Buy and 8 Strong Buy ratings against just 7 Holds. Then there is Brian Nowak at Morgan Stanley, whose bullish AI-driven view on Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:META | META Price Prediction) points to roughly $815 by year-end 2026, a 25% gain from current levels and comfortably above Street consensus. But can META realistically reach $815 by the end of 2026? Brian Nowak’s $815 META Prediction Nowak’s thesis leans on evidence that AI is already lifting the core ad engine. On the Q2 call, Meta reported ad impressions up 14% and average price per ad up 12%, with new AI ranking work producing an 8.3% lift in ad clicks and a 15.7% conversion uplift on Facebook. Advantage Plus end-to-end tools now run at over $75 billion in annual revenue run rate. At a forward P/E of 18, that setup looks underpriced. Key Drivers of META Stock Performance AI-powered ad monetization. With 3.60 billion daily active people and Q2 ad revenue of $59.36 billion (+27%), every basis point of AI-driven relevance compounds into decades of ad take-rate expansion, a durable engine for retirement portfolios. Enterprise AI and Meta Model API. Business agents already serve more than 1 million businesses weekly, opening subscription, usage, and results-based revenue on top of ads. Capital returns. Meta ran $26.25 billion in 2025 buybacks and pays a $1.35 billion quarterly dividend, shrinking the share count. What Will It Take for META to Reach $815? With 2,205,129,000 shares outstanding, $815 implies a market cap near $1.80 trillion, up from $1.44 trillion today. To get there, Meta needs to: Beat the 2027 consensus EPS of $33.95 as AI monetization scales. Hold Q4 revenue near the $73.66 billion analyst average. Show operating leverage as the $130 to $145 billion 2026 capex begins producing enterprise AI revenue. The primary risk is capex intensity compressing near-term free cash flow, already visible in Q2’s collapse to $784 million from $8.55 billion a year earlier. Even so, Meta’s AI-fueled ad engine, enterprise optionality, and shareholder returns make the $815 target credible. Contact [email protected] for any questions or corrections. |

Why Wall Street is split on Meta's Muse AI agent and stock outlook | FMP Stock News
|
Original source text
powered byBuy META Meta’s Muse is already ranking in the top US App Store positions, and JPMorgan upgraded to Overweight with a big price-target jump ($820). The setup is that early traction validates Meta’s agent strategy, and the market is still underpricing the longer runway: take-rates/commissions, subscriptions, and Model API monetization beyond ads. Key risk: Muse fails to convert users into paid revenue (or meaningful take-rate economics), so the stock rerates back to “ads-only” expectations. Key Risk: Muse doesn’t monetize—usage stays free/low-value and doesn’t move revenue meaningfully. Sell GOOG If Muse proves users will let an AI agent handle shopping, travel, tickets, and scheduling, Meta can siphon “agentic” demand from Google’s Gemini ecosystem and related assistant experiences. The article flags monetization uncertainty for Muse, but the competitive threat is real: users may prefer an agent that can execute tasks end-to-end, not just chat. Key risk: Google quickly matches agent execution and distribution, keeping users inside Google’s ecosystem and protecting monetization. Key Risk: Google launches a superior, trusted agent experience fast enough to retain users and revenue. Meta Platforms’ new Muse AI agent has generated strong early interest, but Wall Street remains divided over whether the product can become a meaningful financial catalyst for the company. Meta stock META was unchanged at the time of writing at $653, giving up earlier gains in the session Muse reached as high as No. 3 in the US App Store within its first two days, according to JPMorgan. The AI agent is designed to perform tasks including online shopping, travel planning, ticket purchases, appointment scheduling, calendar management, and sending emails and messages. The early adoption has strengthened the bullish case for Meta’s broader AI strategy. JPMorgan analyst Doug Anmuth upgraded Meta to Overweight from Neutral and raised his price target to $820 from $640. Anmuth said Meta still has “meaningful upside potential” as the company is in the early stages of launching frontier models and AI-driven products beyond advertising. However, the initial popularity of Muse does not necessarily establish how much revenue the product can generate, which is where some analysts remain cautious. Monetization remains a key questionOne of the biggest uncertainties for investors is whether Meta can turn Muse’s usage into a significant new revenue stream. JPMorgan believes there are several potential monetization opportunities. Although generating revenue is not the immediate priority for Muse, Anmuth said Meta could eventually benefit from commissions or take-rates on transactions, as well as subscriptions. That gives Meta exposure to a potentially broader AI economy beyond its traditional advertising business. JPMorgan also pointed to Meta’s Model API access as another opportunity to expand its AI products and monetization pipeline. But Oppenheimer is less convinced that Muse will have a meaningful financial impact in the near term. Analyst Jason Helfstein maintained a Perform rating on Meta and said the firm does not view Muse as a “game changer.” Oppenheimer is questioning whether enough consumers will ultimately pay for the service, particularly as users may already be paying for competing products such as Google’s Gemini and OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Consumer trust is another hurdle for Muse, particularly because an AI agent that performs tasks on behalf of users may require access to sensitive accounts and information. Oppenheimer pointed to concerns about consumers' willingness to share passwords and broader account access with Meta. Helfstein argued that Muse could have limited usefulness for e-commerce and other online services without that access. That creates a potential challenge as competing AI assistants develop similar agentic capabilities. The concern is not simply whether Muse can perform tasks, but whether users will be comfortable allowing it to act on their behalf. Meta's privacy history adds another layer to that debate. Recent hands-on testing by The Verge also highlighted concerns about the amount of personal information Muse can access through Meta and third-party services. |

Meta Makes New AI Bet on WhatsApp and Instagram | FMP Stock News
|
Original source text
A small acquisition could unlock a much larger commerce opportunity SummaryStilla’s technology could help Meta turn conversations across its social platforms into purchases, bookings and other revenue-generating transactions Meta Platforms META is expanding its AI ambitions beyond chatbots by acquiring Swedish startup Stilla.ai to help agents complete transactions across WhatsApp, Messenger and Instagram. Axios reported that Stilla's team and technology will join Meta when the transaction closes. Founded in 2024, the company raised $5 million in pre-seed financing in January, underscoring how quickly Meta moved to absorb its capabilities. The acquisition will support Meta Business Agent, a system designed to help companies interact with customers and facilitate transactions inside Meta's applications. The direct commercial goal is transforming conversations across its massive social platforms into purchases, bookings and other completed actions. Meta Wants AI Agents to Produce RevenueFor Meta stock investors, the strategic appeal extends beyond adding another AI feature. If business agents can answer questions, recommend products and complete transactions without sending users elsewhere, Meta could make its apps more valuable to advertisers and merchants while strengthening its position in conversational commerce. The purchase follows Meta's rollout of Muse, a personal AI agent built to perform tasks across applications and online services. Together, Muse and Business Agent suggest Meta is developing parallel assistants: one representing consumers and another helping businesses sell to them. That model could deepen engagement and create new monetization opportunities across Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger. It could also provide Meta with more signals about commercial intent, potentially improving advertising targeting and measurement. Execution remains the challenge. Users and businesses must trust agents to interpret requests correctly, protect sensitive information and complete transactions reliably. Meta will also need to show that agent-driven commerce generates incremental revenue rather than simply shifting activity already happening inside its platforms. Stilla's modest funding history makes this a small acquisition financially, but potentially meaningful strategically. Meta shares rose 6.2% Wednesday as investors assessed a broader AI push increasingly focused on agents that do things, not merely answer questions. Disclosures I/we have no positions in any stocks mentioned, and have no plans to buy any new positions in the stocks mentioned within the next 72 hours. Click for the complete disclosure |

Bloomberg/Getty Images Anthropic posted — and then deleted — a job listing for a salesperson tasked with selling to Meta, its AI rival and one of its largest customers. The listing, titled "Mega Account Executive, Meta," appeared on Anthropic's job board at a delicate moment for the companies' relationship. Meta still spends hundreds of millions of dollars a month as Anthropic's customer, according to a recent New York Times report. But it's also trying to reduce its reliance on Anthropic's AI tools as Anthropic is shoring up its finances ahead of a massive initial public offering. The post suggests Anthropic is betting Meta will remain a major customer even as Meta builds more capable AI models of its own. After Business Insider asked Anthropic about the listing on Wednesday, the company pulled it down. Anthropic and Meta declined to comment. Anthropic's job posting offered an annual salary of $380,000 to $450,000, and didn't mention Meta outside the title. It said the salesperson would "win new business and drive revenue within a book of strategic digital native accounts." The listing stands out for its specificity. Other Anthropic account executive openings target broad regions or sectors, including startups in Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa, or the public sector in Southeast Asia. Anthropic's AI coding tool, Claude Code, became popular across Silicon Valley, including at Meta, this year. One internal projection said Meta could spend $10 billion annually on Anthropic, the Times reported. Meta's head of AI product, Nat Friedman, told employees that if Meta decreased its reliance on Anthropic's tools, it could hit Anthropic's revenue as it approaches its IPO, the report said.
