Citi just flagged a specific date on the calendar as a near-term trigger for Meta stock, and a prominent analyst is telling clients to get positioned before that window closes.

Citi analyst Ronald Josey added an “upside 90-day catalyst watch” on Meta (NASDAQ:META | META Price Prediction) while keeping a buy rating and $800 price target heading into the company’s Connect conference next week. The call is a conviction reiteration that puts a spotlight on the September 23 event as the near-term trigger for Meta stock.
For long-term investors, Citi’s reiterated $800 target frames Connect as the checkpoint on whether Meta’s AI spending is starting to translate into visible product wins.
Ticker Company Firm Action Old Rating New Rating Old Target New Target META Meta Platforms Citi Buy reiterated, added to upside 90-day catalyst watch Buy Buy $800 $800 Citi’s Case for a Pre-Connect Catalyst Watch Josey told clients Meta’s product roadmap brings “multiple catalysts ahead,” with Connect expected to deliver clarity on product strategy, including updates for Muse, next-generation models, and Meta glasses. Citi believes these new AI products will drive better engagement and monetization over time.
Management has already teased the event, with CEO Mark Zuckerberg saying Meta would share more about its glasses lineup at Connect and describing the category as one of the fastest-growing consumer electronics products.
Snapshot of the Family of Apps Machine Meta owns Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, Threads, Meta Quest, and Ray-Ban Meta. In Q2 2026, revenue reached $60.80 billion, up 27.96% year over year, while diluted EPS of $6.18 missed consensus by 14.42% as total costs jumped on legal charges and severance.
Family of Apps daily active people hit 3.60 billion, and AI-powered Advantage Plus solutions reached over $75 billion in annual revenue run rate.
Why This Catalyst Watch Lands Now Meta shares are trading at $681.31, up 11.06% over the past week and 15.51% over the past month, as investors position ahead of Connect. The stock trades at a forward P/E of 20 against a consensus analyst target of $758.28, with 47 Buy and 8 Strong Buy ratings versus 7 Holds.
Options traders are also leaning in: the September 23 expiration showed 4,522 calls traded against 1,726 puts. Meta saw a 60% increase in the number of people interacting with Meta AI each day after it was rebuilt and integrated with Muse Spark, adding weight to Citi’s engagement thesis.
Portfolio Playbook for Retirement-Focused Investors Meta stock offers rare scale: an operating margin of 41.4%, ROE of 30.24%, and a market cap near $1.50 trillion.
Risks are real. FY26 capex was narrowed to $130 to $145 billion, free cash flow collapsed to $784 million in Q2, and management flagged ongoing youth-related legal and regulatory matters with U.S. trials that may result in material losses.
For long-term holders, Citi’s catalyst watch is a reason to review position sizing before Connect. Capex at that scale also flows straight to the power, cooling, and networking suppliers behind the data centers, which we profiled in a free report on seven AI infrastructure names that aren’t chipmakers. The Connect stage on September 23 will tell investors whether Meta’s AI capex is starting to pay for itself.

A German court has ruled that Meta (META.O) is liable for fake advertisements posted by third parties on its Instagram and Facebook platforms, and ordered the U.S. tech giant to remove such content and pay damages, the court said on Thursday.
The lawsuit was brought by the operator of a German financial portal and its founder, whose trademarked logo and image were used without consent in posts recommending investments allegedly with fraudulent intent.
The portal operator reported nearly 260 violations to Meta in August 2024 alone; however, Meta took up to 62 days to remove some content, the court said.
It ruled Meta could not rely on the Digital Services Act's lack-of-knowledge defence, because unlike purely chronological feeds, it exercises control over the content through its algorithms and advertising practices.
The court referred to a precedent set by a June ruling by the European Court of Justice.
"We respectfully disagree with this decision and are considering next steps," a Meta spokesperson said in a statement, adding that the company had taken significant action, including proactive detection measures and removal of reported content.
According to the ruling, dated September 16, Meta must also disclose details of the fake advertisements and revenue generated from them.
The ruling is not yet final and may be challenged by lodging an appeal, the court said.
Image Credits:David Paul Morris/Bloomberg Meta’s camera-equipped smart glasses have proven more successful than other entrants into the market, but they have also deeply disturbed certain consumers who see them as invasive emblems of a dystopian surveillance society run amok. Now, as the company weathers complaints that it’s selling “pervert glasses,” it has reportedly decided to sell a pair that doesn’t come with integrated spy equipment.
The Information reports that Meta is developing a new smart glasses model, dubbed Luna, that, sans cameras, comes equipped with a convenient system to communicate with the company’s AI chatbot and Muse, its AI consumer agent. The glasses include six built-in microphones so users can communicate with the chatbot, as well as a button on the side of the glasses that, when pressed, activates the AI system.
Luna may be unveiled as soon as Meta Connect, Meta’s annual hardware/developer event happening in Menlo Park next week, the outlet notes.
TechCrunch reached out to Meta for more information.
The smart glasses industry has grown over the past few years, with Meta positioned near the front of the pack of providers. However, concerns over usability, cost, and privacy have dogged the business, with many consumers still unsure of how, why, or if they should use the devices. Meta’s Reality Labs, which is responsible for developing its smart glasses line, is still losing a gargantuan amount of money, as its earnings report from April revealed.

Bloomberg's Ed Ludlow breaks down Mark Zuckerberg's call for AI labs to rely on independent evaluators and advisers to ensure models are safe. Plus, OpenAI is said to be in early talks with investors about a new funding round that could value the ChatGPT maker at more than $1.2 trillion, and Impulse Space CEO Tom Mueller discusses the company's $308 million Series D extension and the future of the space mobility economy.
The policy stance protects development speed while placing safety responsibility--and potential liability--inside each laboratory. Summary
Meta wants independent safeguards without surrendering competitive velocity.
Meta Platforms META, the social-media and AI platform, rejected calls for a coordinated slowdown in advanced AI development, Reuters reported Wednesday. The shares gained approximately 1.5% to $680.41, keeping the stock firmly in positive territory even as investors weighed the increasingly difficult trade-off between AI speed and AI safety.
CEO Mark Zuckerberg argued that competitive pressure and legal liability already push individual AI laboratories to take safety seriously. He pointed to Meta's decision to delay Muse for further security work and said independent model evaluations should become a normal part of the industry. Zuckerberg also noted that most of Meta's computing power remains focused on existing products rather than systems designed to improve themselves, drawing a line between today's commercial AI race and more advanced autonomous models.
That distinction matters because Meta is spending at extraordinary scale. The company invested $31.08 billion in second-quarter capital expenditures, equal to roughly 51.1% of revenue, while free cash flow fell to just $784 million. The valuation picture offers some cushion: the chart shows Meta trading at $680.41 versus a GF Value of $853.42, or about 20.27% below that estimate. Investors are therefore being asked to balance a sizeable valuation discount against the execution risk of pouring tens of billions of dollars into an AI race where one major safety failure could damage both user trust and the returns expected from that infrastructure.

The Fed has not moved its policy rate in months, yet long-term borrowing costs keep climbing on their own, and one prominent fund manager sees a level not touched since the dot-com era as the next stop, with serious consequences…
This post may contain links from our sponsors and affiliates, and Flywheel Publishing may receive compensation for actions taken through them.
The Federal Reserve has not touched its policy rate since December, yet long-term borrowing costs in the United States have been running their own tightening cycle. The federal funds target upper bound has been pinned at 3.75% since December 11, 2025, sitting 0.75 points below where it was a year ago. Over the same stretch, the 10-year Treasury yield has moved in the opposite direction, climbing from a low of 3.97% on February 27, 2026 to 5.00% on September 15, 2026. That reading sits in the 99.6th percentile of the last year’s range.
Dan Niles, who runs Niles Investment Management, thinks the bond market is not finished. In a September 15 appearance on CNBC’s Squawk on the Street, Niles argued that the next Fed move looks like a hike and that a 6% terminal yield on the 10-year is plausible. He grounds the call in structural fiscal math: deficits running at roughly 6% of GDP, about $40 trillion in federal debt against $33 trillion of GDP, and hyperscalers now competing directly with the Treasury to issue paper.
Bond Market Already Ran Its Own Hiking Cycle Niles’ framing is that the Fed “let the market kind of dictate where rates want to go,” which is why the classic “don’t fight the Fed” rule now cuts against equities even with the Fed standing still. His playbook: don’t fight the Fed, don’t fight the bond market, and don’t fight seasonality. On that last point, he cites a median 10% drawdown from the end of July through November 9 in midterm years, roughly double the non-midterm average, and says he is carrying a lot of shorts into that window.
Jim Cramer echoed the same warning four days earlier. On the September 11 episode of Mad Money, Cramer told viewers that if the Fed tightens, bulls will be fighting the Fed, and he advised being sparing with cash. Two voices, one message: tightening is happening in the long end whether or not the FOMC ratifies it.
What A 6% 10-Year Would Actually Break The yield curve is already flashing the setup. On September 15, the 20-year printed 5.40% and the 30-year 5.36%, with the long end above 5%. A push to 6% on the 10-year would drag 30-year fixed mortgages meaningfully higher, reprice investment-grade and high-yield corporate spreads, and lift the risk-free rate used to discount every equity cash flow. Growth stocks with long-dated earnings streams take the biggest hit to present value when the discount rate jumps.
That is the connective tissue to Meta (NASDAQ:META | META Price Prediction). Meta is arguably the most exposed mega-cap to a rising long rate for two reasons: valuation and financing. The company guided full-year 2026 capex to $130 to $145 billion, up from a $115 to $135 billion range at the Q4 2025 report, and raised long-term debt to $83.66 billion to fund the AI buildout. Q2 2026 capex alone was $30.12 billion, up 82% year over year, and free cash flow collapsed to $784 million from $8.55 billion. Higher yields raise the marginal cost of financing that buildout and compress the multiple the market will pay for it.
Multiples, Not Just Coupons Meta trades at a P/E of 24 with a market cap near $1.497 trillion. Shares are up 15.3% over the past month even as the 10-year has jumped, and up 3.21% year to date. Niles is long Meta at roughly 17 times calendar 2027 earnings, calling out cleared litigation overhangs and monetization gains against 3.60 billion Family DAP. That is a name-specific view inside an otherwise bearish book.
The broader takeaway for investors: the next scheduled FOMC-related release date is September 16, 2026. Whatever the Fed signals, the tightening that matters for mortgages, CD yields, and equity multiples is happening in the long end of the curve. Niles is betting there is another full point to go.

Meta stock rose about 1.5% on Wednesday as broader markets moved higher ahead of a pivotal interest rate decision from the Federal Reserve, while fresh bullish calls from analysts added to the positive sentiment around the social media giant.
The shares have gained about 20% over the past month, extending a recovery that has been supported by new artificial intelligence products, improved monetization prospects and the removal of a major legal overhang.
Rosenblatt reiterated a Buy rating and an $886 price target on Meta following the company’s expansion of its subscription business.
Meta said on Tuesday it was launching its “Meta One” subscription service, offering enhanced AI capabilities and new features across Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp.
The service has already reached 15 million subscriptions and trials during its phased introduction.
Meta said the offering is designed to provide more than 50 features spanning content creation, audience engagement and business management.
Monthly plans for Meta One will start at $2.99 for single products, while individual bundles will cost $7.99. Creator and business bundles will start at $14.99.
Products such as WhatsApp Plus and Instagram Plus will provide app-specific enhancements, while individual bundles will combine those features with more advanced AI capabilities.
The subscription push gives Meta another potential source of revenue beyond digital advertising at a time when competition for online ad spending remains intense.
Meta averaged 3.60 billion daily active people across its family of apps earlier this year, providing the company with a vast potential customer base for paid products.
The company has said its core app functions and basic Meta AI usage will remain free.
Citi placed Meta on a 90-day upside catalyst watch ahead of the company’s Connect event on September 23, where investors are expected to look for updates on Meta’s artificial intelligence products and broader product strategy.
Analyst Ronald Josey maintained a Buy rating and an $800 price target, implying a 19.4% return from the stock’s last close.
The catalyst watch is scheduled to expire on December 15.
Josey expects Meta to provide updates on Muse, its next-generation AI models and its Meta glasses strategy.
He said Meta’s accelerating product cadence and early adoption of Muse are increasing confidence in the potential returns from its AI investments.
The analyst also highlighted expanding AI use cases across personal, business and enterprise applications.
Citi said improving monetization of Reels, Meta’s enormous user base, engagement growth, advertising innovation and the company’s AI opportunity support its valuation.
At the same time, the bank flagged risks including weaker online advertising spending, intensifying competition, regulatory pressure and difficulties in generating meaningful contributions from Meta’s non-advertising businesses.
Meta’s AI ambitions are also unfolding amid a wider debate over how quickly artificial intelligence companies should develop increasingly powerful models.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said Tuesday that competition and liability give AI companies sufficient incentives to act individually on safety, appearing to diverge from recent calls by some AI executives for a coordinated slowdown in AI development.
In a post on X, Zuckerberg said every AI lab has both the responsibility and incentive to move at a pace that allows its models to be trained safely, while retaining the ability to take its own measures to ensure that happens.
His comments came three days after Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei urged AI companies to slow the pace at which they improve model capabilities, following warnings from several researchers about existential risks.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and xAI CEO Elon Musk publicly endorsed Amodei’s call within hours.
“Trust and alignment are quickly becoming the most important capabilities that will differentiate agents and models,” Zuckerberg said Tuesday.
“Any lab that doesn't focus on alignment will fall behind.”
Zuckerberg also argued that AI labs have a strong incentive to prevent their models from causing harm because they could face “significant” liability.
He pointed to Meta’s decision to delay the release of its Muse AI agent earlier this year to strengthen its security.
“We didn't call for everyone else to do this before we would. We just did it as part of our day-to-day work because it was clearly the right thing for people and for us,” he said.
Meta’s recent share-price recovery accelerated after the company settled a major social-media lawsuit and introduced Muse, an AI agent designed to automate everyday tasks for consumers.
The developments have helped revive the investment case around Meta after repeated rallies over the past year struggled to hold.
The roughly $18 billion (about ₹1.7 trillion) settlement of Meta’s social-media lawsuit has also removed a significant source of uncertainty for investors.
Investors looking for a sustained recovery are now watching whether the combination of legal relief, AI product momentum and subscription expansion can support a longer-lasting uptrend.
“Eliminating a legal overhang and then having a positive product in a hot narrative is certainly enough to get the early stages of a trend change going,” Dan Russo, co-chief investment officer at Potomac Fund Management, which owns Meta shares, said in an earlier Bloomberg report.
“We've seen a number of these counter-trend rallies fizzle out and fade. What's key from here is to build on the momentum and validate the changing trend.”
For Russo, that validation would require Meta stock to break decisively above $700 and remain there.
Don Kaufman (@Theotrade) says the disconnect between Wall Street and Main Street is interesting, making the case for a convergence once the Fed announces its interest rate decision. He believes the State Street Industrial Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLI) is "wildly oversold" into the decision, sees a bearish opportunity in the iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (IBIT) after a vote on the Clarity Act failed, and expects Meta Platforms (META) to hit strong resistance.
Meta Platforms, Inc. has surged 24% in a month, driven by the launches of the Muse AI agent and Meta One subscription as investors demanded revenue streams outside of the ad business. META's new initiatives target significant standalone revenue streams beyond ads, leveraging its scale and custom AI chips to boost margins and recurring revenue. Forward PE remains attractive at 21.5x, with a $1,000/share price target reflecting 47% upside as the market underappreciates AI-driven revenue potential.
Meta's ad engine is firing on all cylinders and analysts are almost unanimously bullish, yet one earnings gate stands between today's price and a specific target date that changes everything for long-term investors.
Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:META | META Price Prediction) will trade at or above $800 per share by September 12, 2027, a roughly 25% move from the September 11 close of $648.03. The first checkpoint arrives sooner: the October 28, 2026 Q3 earnings report, released after the close. That earnings report is the gate. Clear it, and the runway to $800 opens.
Meta Platforms enters the fall setup off a bruising July: Q2 2026 revenue landed at $60.80 billion, up 27.96% year over year, but diluted EPS of $6.18 missed the $7.22 consensus by 14.42%, snapping a six-quarter beat streak.
The stock has since rebuilt: up 5.07% in the past week and 11.95% over the past month. Three reasons the $800 target resolves in favor.
AI Advertising Is Already Paying The Q2 call quantified the flywheel. Ranking and sequence-learning upgrades drove an 8.3% increase in ad clicks on Facebook and a 15.7% uplift in conversions.
Advantage Plus end-to-end tools reached a $75 billion annual revenue run rate, and nine million small businesses are now using at least one Meta AI ad creative tool. Q2 ad impressions rose 14% while average price per ad rose 12%. Both curves accelerating simultaneously is the setup shorts do not want to see heading into Q3.
Guidance Frames a Beatable Bar Management guided Q3 revenue to $61 to $64 billion and reiterated full-year 2026 operating income above 2025 levels. The Q2 expense shock was concentrated: $2.40 billion in legal charges and $1.18 billion in severance from the May headcount cut.
Strip those out and operating income rose 9% year over year. The Q3 comparison normalizes that base. With forward EPS of $40.09 feeding the model, the forward P/E-based price is $776.90, before any multiple expansion on cleaner comps.
Analyst and Model Alignment The sell side is stacked to one side: 55 buy or strong buy ratings versus 7 holds and zero sells, with a consensus target of $757.31. The base-case one-year projection lands at $810.08 on September 12, 2027, with the bull case at $860.61.
At a current P/E of 24, ROE of 30.24%, and operating margin of 41.44%, Meta is priced well below a company poised to re-rate. That is the opportunity.
What Zuckerberg Said On the Q2 call, CEO Mark Zuckerberg framed the thesis directly: “AI is accelerating our core business today, powering our next generation of products, and opening the door to entirely new enterprise opportunities.
The results are already showing, and I’m optimistic about the potential ahead.” Meta Connect on September 23, 2026 and the Q3 report on October 28 are the near-term proof points.
What Kills the Call The risk is real: 2026 capex of $130 to $145 billion, Q2 free cash flow collapsing to $784 million from $8.55 billion, and youth-related U.S. trials in 2026.
That capex flows straight to the power, cooling, and networking suppliers behind the data-center buildout, seven of which we profiled in a free report: 7 Stocks Powering the AI Boom (That Aren’t Chipmakers).
Another EPS miss with no offsetting revenue upside pushes $800 into 2028. Conviction stands: the ad engine, the guidance floor, and analyst positioning line up. September 12, 2027, $800.

Meta Platforms Inc. (NASDAQ:META) stock traded nearly 2% higher Wednesday as investors favored mega-cap growth stocks. The Nasdaq gained 0.70%, while the S&P 500 rose 0.29%.
Rosenblatt’s bullish analyst call added to the positive momentum. The firm maintained its Buy rating on Meta and set an $886 price forecast Wednesday.
Citigroup analyst Ronald Josey also maintained a Buy rating and an $800 price forecast, calling Meta a “top pick” and flagging next week’s Connect event as a near-term catalyst.
Key UpdatesMeta also has fresh product catalysts. The company reportedly plans to launch camera-free smart glasses, code-named Luna, this fall. The Information reported that the glasses will use six microphones for Meta AI interactions, with shipments potentially starting in October.
Separately, Meta began rolling out parental supervision for Threads across Asia Pacific this week. The tools let parents set time limits, manage privacy settings and monitor teen usage through Family Center.
Technical AnalysisThe stock is trading well above several key moving averages. It sits about 13% above its 20-day simple moving average of $602.15 and 9% above its 200-day SMA of $623.90.
However, its longer-term technical setup remains mixed. The 50-day SMA is still below the 200-day SMA after a death cross formed in December 2025.
The relative strength index stands at 73.64. An RSI above 70 typically signals overbought conditions. That could increase the chances of consolidation or profit-taking after the recent rally.
Resistance sits near $686, while support is around $556.50.
Meta remains down 12.66% over the past 12 months. Therefore, the recent advance still looks like a recovery from earlier weakness rather than an uninterrupted long-term uptrend.
Analyst OutlookMeta trades at a price-to-earnings ratio of about 25.2. The stock carries a Buy consensus rating with an average price forecast of $774.58.
Rosenblatt maintained a Buy rating Wednesday with an $886 price forecast. Wedbush maintained a Neutral rating Monday and raised its forecast to $650. JPMorgan upgraded Meta to Overweight on Sept. 10 and raised its price forecast to $820.
Benzinga Edge RankingsThe stock scores strongest on growth and quality in the Benzinga Edge rankings.
Its growth score stands at 79.64, while quality is 72.4. Meta has a value score of 49.74 and a momentum score of 44.31.
The rankings point to stronger growth and quality characteristics, while momentum and value remain more moderate.
Top ETF ExposureThe First Trust Dow Jones Internet Index Fund (NYSE:FDN) has a 9.46% weighting in Meta. The Invesco AI and Next Gen Software ETF (NYSE:IGPT) has an 8.91% weighting, while the Global X Social Media ETF (NASDAQ:SOCL) has an 8.76% weighting.
Those sizable positions can increase Meta’s exposure to fund inflows and outflows.

Meta Platforms Inc. Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg said artificial intelligence labs should rely on independent evaluators and advisers to ensure that models are safe. Earlier, Nvidia Corp. Chief Executive Officer Jensen Huang made similar remarks, saying safety should be a regular part of the development process, and companies can decide not to release things that are harmful.
Meta Platforms CEO Mark Zuckerberg said on Tuesday that competition and liability give AI companies enough reason to act individually on safety, appearing to break from calls by leaders of top AI firms for a coordinated slowdown in AI development.
Alongside news of its new AI-focused subscription plans, Meta announced on Tuesday that it will now allow AI agents of your choosing to set up and manage WhatsApp Business messaging, the service that allows companies to connect with customers through WhatsApp conversations.
As Meta explains, this process was previously a bit more cumbersome, as it required developers to move between different tools and services, including the Developer Console, Meta’s Business Manager, the API reference, and their editor. Now, they can instead ask their preferred AI agent to set up WhatsApp Business messaging by chatting with it and describing what needs to be done.
This is made possible by the new WhatsApp Business Tools MCP, an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server that directly connects an AI coding agent like Claude, Cursor, Codex, or ChatGPT to the WhatsApp Business Platform.
The move sees Meta expanding its existing lineup of MCP servers beyond those for managing ads and monitoring app configurations, and other social technologies to one specifically designed to help onboard businesses to WhatsApp. Many other tech companies also offer MCP servers that allow AI agents to securely interact with their services, including PayPal, Stripe, GitHub, Notion, Slack, Salesforce, Atlassian, X, Google, Microsoft, and others.
In Meta’s case, the AI agent will handle much of the busywork involved in the WhatsApp Business setup process, like creating the company’s WhatsApp Business account, adding and verifying its phone number, registering it for access to the Cloud API, checking the business’ Terms of Service, and more.
Businesses will also be able to use the AI agent for other tasks, like describing a messaging template they want the AI to create or having the agent edit an existing template. Plus, they can test messages and webhooks and monitor things that may previously have quietly failed, like the Terms of Service, payment method, and Business Verification.
During setup and configuration, Meta’s other MCP server, Meta Social Technologies MCP, can also be used to discover API endpoints, search documentation, and help troubleshoot errors, the company noted.

Meta on Tuesday introduced a new subscription service called Meta One, offering expanded AI usage and other premium features across Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. The new plans let users access a number of AI tools, like those for creating and editing images and generating videos, as well as in-app tools like the AI-powered Restyle editing tool on Instagram.
The plans are meant to help Meta monetize its Muse AI models, following the tech giant’s 2025 $14.3 billion investment in Scale AI, which brought the startup’s CEO, Alexandr Wang, to the company to lead its AI efforts.
It also comes in the wake of Meta’s more recent addition of subscription tiers to its top social apps in March, which allow consumers to access extra features like profile customizations, super reactions, story insights, and more, for just a few dollars per month.
Image Credits:Meta Those plans, which include Instagram Plus ($3.99/mo), Facebook Plus ($3.99/mo), and WhatsApp Plus ($2.99/mo), are already paying off for Meta, new data shows. Market intelligence provider Appfigures shows that Instagram’s daily worldwide revenue now averages $1.2 million as of the week of September 9, while Facebook’s daily revenue now reaches $528,000. These numbers represent increases of 475% and 143%, respectively, from the week prior, the firm said.
Image Credits:Meta Meta is now broadening its ambitions with a new set of subscription plans, including those aimed at AI power users and others for businesses and creators.
In the first set, there are the $7.99/month Core and $19.99/month Premium plans, both of which include the Facebook Plus, Instagram Plus, and WhatsApp Plus features. The primary selling point of these plans is expanded AI usage, with Premium offering more usage than Core, as its pricing indicates.
Reached for comment, Meta declined to share the exact usage limits for the two plans, as they could vary by “country, surface and system conditions.”
The plans let subscribers use tools like Muse Image and Muse Video to generate pictures and videos, edit Instagram Stories with the AI-powered Restyle feature, and use voice effects and creative tools more often.
Image Credits:Meta Meanwhile, businesses and creators can choose from several different plans: Essential ($14.99/month and up), Advanced (starting at $49.99/month), Expert (starting at $149/month), and Max (starting at $499/month). Meta noted that the plan benefits, pricing, and availability may vary by region, app, and account.
Essential offers tools to manage the creator’s or business’s presence; expanded access to the Meta Business Agent to respond to customers; a verified badge and channel on the WhatsApp Business App; and impersonation detection.
Advanced offers more features, like the ability to schedule stories up to 30 days in advance; support for links in organic posts and reels; exportable analytics; deeper audience insights; support for team member access to the account; more linked devices; more business broadcast credits; and more Meta Business Agent responses.
Image Credits:Meta Both Essential and Advanced plans introduce new features, too, including an enhanced profile that showcases the creator’s or business’ website, locations, and reviews. They also get a bold Follow button on reels, and follow invitations that are automatically sent to people who engage with their content.
Image Credits:Meta Meta plans to later add more features and agent skills to help with things like end-to-end marketing, business operations, content creation, and optimization. It will also soon introduce Edits Plus to Meta One, a plan for its content-creation app Edits. This will provide more cloud storage for syncing projects across devices and additional usage of the Edits AI assistant.
The Expert and Max plans offer the highest levels of feature access and Meta Business Agent capacity.
Image Credits:Meta The addition of the new plans, though somewhat confusing given all the various tiers, could serve to boost Meta’s top line and help recoup some of its AI investments.
As Appfigures noted, U.S. users accounted for 32% of Instagram’s and 39% of Facebook’s revenue after the plans gained traction on September 9, which was roughly 10% above each app’s historical U.S. baseline. The plans also point to estimates suggesting further growth ahead. BNP Paribas forecasts Meta’s subscription push will add $13.5 billion in revenue by 2028, and Truist estimates the company could add $20 billion in revenue by 2030.

Buy Meta Platforms (META). Thesis: AI monetization is now real for Meta (enterprise APIs, AI agents, open-model deployments) and it’s cheaper than peers (about 17x projected earnings vs mid-to-high 20s for mega-caps). In a higher-rate world, you want the stock with the clearest path to incremental revenue, not the most expensive multiple. Expect the midterm seasonal drawdown to create a better entry while fundamentals keep improving.
Key Risk: 10-year yields keep rising and the market de-rates high-growth ad/AI stocks faster than Meta can prove monetization, pushing META below its valuation support.
Short long-duration tech
Sell/short a long-duration tech proxy like Nasdaq-100 (QQQ) or the long-duration mega-cap basket (e.g., short Invesco QQQ vs long cash). Thesis: Niles’ core call is “don’t fight the bond market” with 10-year Treasury potentially near 6% and midterm seasonality dragging stocks ~10%. Higher yields hit long-duration earnings hardest, and tech multiples are the transmission mechanism.
Key Risk: Yields peak sooner than expected (or inflation falls quickly), and risk-on returns lift long-duration tech multiples, forcing shorts to cover at a loss.
Niles Investment Management founder Dan Niles says investors should prepare for stickier, higher interest rates, noting that the 10-year Treasury yield could realistically climb to as much as 6%.
Pointing to unprecedented peacetime deficit spending, huge national debt expansion, and intense corporate debt issuance from tech giants competing against the US government, Niles believes rate pressures are far from over.
Despite anticipating a 10% correction leading into the upcoming midterms, however, he remains strongly conviction-long on Meta Platforms META, citing unlocked AI monetization channels and an attractive valuation relative to broader technology peers.
Facing a potential surge in 10-year yields, Dan Niles emphasizes three primary tactical rules: avoid fighting the Federal Reserve, do not fight the bond market, and respect what he called the historical market seasonality.
With the federal deficit hovering around 6% of GDP and national debt standing against the gross domestic product, structural pressures prevent monetary authorities from artificially suppressing long-term rates as aggressively as in previous cycles.
Plus, seasonal drawdown trends surrounding midterm elections historically drag stocks down by 10% between late July and early November – double the pullbacks seen in non-midterm years.
With the market continually pitching risky volatility against elevated valuations, Niles advised disciplined investors in a CNBC interview that they are under no obligation to swing at every pitch.
While holding significant short positions across the broader market, Niles maintains an outright bullish stance on Meta Platforms.
Unlike mega-cap peers like Microsoft, Amazon, or Google, META previously faced skepticism regarding its ability to monetize massive AI capex without a traditional cloud infrastructure or API platform.
However, recent breakthroughs – including cost-effective open model deployments, expanded enterprise API integrations, and new AI agent rollouts across its 3.6 billion daily active users – have fundamentally altered that narrative.
Trading at about 17x projected earnings, Meta stock presents a valuation lower than the broader S&P 500 index and significantly cheaper than mega-cap competitors trading in the mid-to-high 20s.
Note that Wall Street analysts currently have a consensus Buy rating on Meta Platforms Inc.
Looking ahead, Dan Niles cautions against ignoring broader market technicals, drawing parallels to previous market "AI speed bumps" where overextended equities underwent rapid, sharp drawdowns within weeks.
Although enterprise execution at companies like Meta offers compelling individual upside, macroeconomic headwinds – ranging from aggressive sovereign borrowing to persistent inflation pressures – continue to increase systemic risk across stocks.
Investors navigating this environment must weigh strong fundamental catalysts against a tightening macroeconomic backdrop.
Rather than chasing market momentum, the seasoned market strategist suggests maintaining cash reserves and tactical hedges until seasonal corrections clear the path for more favorable risk-reward entry points.
California just banned the design patterns that power Meta's ad engine for millions of young users, and the real question for shareholders is what happens when other states follow.
California just told Meta (NASDAQ:META | META Price Prediction) that its most profitable design pattern is off-limits for a large slice of its youngest users. The state’s new package bars social platforms from serving behaviorally addictive features like infinite scroll and algorithmic autoplay to users under sixteen unless the platform offers a compliant, less addictive experience.
The package also tightens rules on AI companion chatbots and creates potentially severe liability for large platforms found negligent in cases involving harm to children.
One state Meta can absorb. A national patchwork built on the same template is a different problem, and that is where shareholders should focus.
What the Law Actually Forbids The rules target the mechanics you already recognize from Instagram and Facebook: never-ending feeds, autoplaying Reels, and recommendation loops tuned to hold attention. For under-sixteen users in California, those defaults must change, or the platform must offer a compliant alternative experience.
Meta’s engagement engine runs on exactly that machinery. On the Q2 2026 call, CFO Susan Li said ad impressions rose 14% year over year, and average price per ad rose 12%, with Instagram time spent growing double digits on ranking improvements.
Reuters has reported that Meta warned broadly written restrictions could damage personalization, while supporters counter that these features were deliberately built to maximize compulsive engagement. Both readings can be true. The more persuasive one, given how the products are optimized, is the supporters’.
Susan Li described Meta’s roadmap as more personalization, faster response to interests, and fresher content, telling investors, “we certainly see further headroom to continue improving recommendations over the rest of the year and into 2027.” That headroom is what California is narrowing for minors.
Why Copycat States Are the Real Exposure If a handful of states adopt California’s framework, Meta cannot maintain a single carve-out. It would have to redesign the youth experience across Instagram, Facebook, Threads, and Messenger, which touches time spent, ad inventory, targeting precision, age-assurance costs, and litigation risk all at once.
The company has already flagged this. Its Q2 2026 outlook cited “ongoing youth-related legal and regulatory matters, including several U.S. trials scheduled for the year that may result in material losses,” and prior filings named EU headwinds tied to Less Personalized Ads.
Compliance is already showing up in the P&L. Q2 2026 carried $2.40 billion in legal charges, and full-year 2026 total expenses were raised to $165 billion to $169 billion. Analysts have followed with cuts: the 2026 EPS estimate slipped to $31.4292 from $32.9407 ninety days ago, with 45 downward revisions against 4 upward in the last thirty days.
Legal challenges could delay implementation, and Meta may preserve engagement through safer defaults. That is real comfort, but limited, because state legislation is moving in one direction.
Is META Stock a Buy? At $648.03 with a P/E of 24x and an analyst target of $757.31, Meta trades at a valuation that assumes steady ad-model compounding. The ad model still compounds, and 55 Buy ratings against 7 Hold reflect that.
The setup: shares look reasonably valued for the ad model’s compounding, though a multi-state copy of California’s rules would force a genuine product redesign for minors rather than a simple compliance line item. Even then, the core business isn’t threatened right now. I wouldn’t rate META stock a buy because the broader market faces risks from rising Treasury yields and oil prices, but I wouldn’t sell the stock either, as there isn’t any genuine weakness yet.

Meta unveiled its Meta One subscription program, according to a Tuesday (Sept. 15) announcement, as the tech giant moves to monetize its artificial intelligence efforts.
Meta has committed to more than a gigawatt of the chips over twelve months Summary
Meta is building inference silicon with Broadcom and TSMC to cut its dependence on Nvidia processors.
Meta Platforms Inc. META was unchanged as it detailed plans to deploy two in-house AI chips during 2027. The MTIA 450, called Arke, is the third generation of the line and goes into data centers in the first half of the year. The MTIA 500, or Astrid, finishes design work in about a month and arrives at the end of 2027, with wider use expected. Broadcom Inc. AVGO works on the designs and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. TSM on manufacturing, in a project aimed at reducing Meta's reliance on Nvidia Corp. NVDA processors.
Meta cancelled a chip code-named Olympus that would have handled both training and inference, due in 2028 or 2029, because a dual-purpose part would have cost potentially 30% more. "When you start to build up gigawatts and gigawatts of capacity, you really care about cost," said Yee Jiun Song, the vice president of engineering who runs the custom silicon program. All four generations lean on high-bandwidth memory and none targets ultrafast inference.
Twelve of the new chips reached Meta from TSMC on September 1 and performed within 2% to 3% of simulations, running Meta's own models plus ones from DeepSeek and Alibaba on the first day. Meta has committed to more than a gigawatt's worth over a twelve-month period, with acceleration expected after that.

Meta Platforms (META) is undervalued, with a DCF-based fair value estimate exceeding $1,000 per share despite near-term negative FCF (net SBC). Robust advertising revenue growth, resilient user engagement, and early AI-driven improvements underpin META's long-term investment case. Current capex surge is strategic and reversible, with future FCF margins modeled to rebound as infrastructure buildout normalizes.
Meta Platforms’ stock META has been caught between enthusiasm over its artificial intelligence ambitions and concerns about the enormous cost of funding those efforts.
The latest rebound is giving bulls fresh reason to believe the company could finally be approaching a sustained breakout, Bloomberg reported, although analysts remain divided over whether the rally can last.
Meta shares have risen 22% from their August low and are on track for their strongest monthly gain since May 2025.
The recovery accelerated after the company settled a major social-media lawsuit and introduced Muse, an AI agent designed to automate everyday tasks for consumers.
The developments have helped revive the investment case for Meta after a year of repeated rallies that ultimately failed to hold.
Meta stock has already experienced four trough-to-peak gains of at least 20% in 2026.
Each rally subsequently faded, with the stock recording lower highs along the way.
That has left the shares essentially flat for the year, compared with a roughly 15% gain for the Nasdaq 100.
Meta was up about 1.4% today, touching $675.
Investors betting on a sustained recovery believe the latest combination of legal relief and AI product momentum could be different.
"Eliminating a legal overhang and then having a positive product in a hot narrative is certainly enough to get the early stages of a trend change going," Dan Russo, co-chief investment officer at Potomac Fund Management, which owns Meta shares, said in the Bloomberg report.
"We've seen a number of these counter-trend rallies fizzle out and fade. What's key from here is to build on the momentum and validate the changing trend."
For Russo, that validation would require Meta stock to break decisively above $700 and remain there.
The $18 billion settlement of Meta's social-media lawsuit has also removed a significant source of uncertainty.
The company had previously calculated that an adverse trial outcome could have exposed it to penalties of as much as $1.4 trillion.
Meta shares have fallen in only four of the 12 trading sessions since the settlement was announced on Aug. 26.
The legal resolution has arrived alongside renewed optimism about Meta’s AI ambitions.
Morgan Stanley analyst Brian Nowak compared Meta’s current setup with Alphabet’s position in late 2025, when the Google parent received a favourable ruling in a long-running antitrust case and subsequently launched a series of AI products.
Alphabet shares have since gained more than 50%, becoming the best-performing Magnificent Seven stock over that period.
Nowak believes Meta could similarly benefit as it continues to roll out AI products.
Meta is in position to keep releasing new products, "which in aggregate could add $10+ to EPS," Nowak wrote in an Aug. 30 note.
"We don't believe these are priced in Meta right now," he added, arguing that the stock is trading below its valuation peak in 2025, when investors viewed Meta as an "AI winner" and GPU investments were helping drive faster growth.
JPMorgan has also become more positive, upgrading Meta to overweight last week.
Analyst Doug Anmuth cited "strong early traction" for Muse and said the product demonstrated why Meta could have an advantage in bringing consumer-focused AI products to its enormous user base.
"Meta is well-positioned to deliver consumer-driven AI products to its base of about 4B users," Anmuth said.
"There's still meaningful upside potential as Meta is in the early stages of releasing frontier models and AI-driven products beyond advertising," he added.
Meta’s valuation could provide another reason for investors to consider the stock after its recent weakness.
The company trades at roughly 18 times estimated earnings for the next 12 months, below its 10-year average of about 20 times and more than 30% below its 2025 peak.
At the same time, analysts expect revenue to grow by more than 25% this year, while earnings are forecast to increase by more than 30%.
But the stock’s relatively inexpensive valuation also reflects concerns about the enormous investment required to compete in AI.
Meta's capital expenditure is expected to nearly double to about $140 billion this year and rise to almost $200 billion in 2027.
That spending is expected to put substantial pressure on free cash flow.
After previously generating significant cash flows, Meta is projected to post negative free cash flow of about $6.3 billion this year, with the deficit potentially widening to almost $30 billion in 2027.
Investors remain divided over the rallyThose spending requirements are keeping some investors from fully embracing Meta’s recovery.
Cyrus Amini, chief investment officer at Hyphen Wealth Management, said the stock’s valuation and near-term catalysts were attractive, but questioned whether those factors were enough to support a longer-term rally.
"The valuation is attractive, and it could have more short-term catalysts than megacaps, but for anything beyond that, all bets are off. It could easily fade again," he said in the Bloomberg report.
"Things are changing so fast it's hard to safely say any name is a long-term winner."

Wall Street's analyst community has reached a verdict on Meta that almost never happens with a mega-cap stock, and the numbers behind that consensus point to a price target that may surprise even longtime bulls.

Wall Street’s coverage of Meta (NASDAQ: META | META Price Prediction) has rarely looked this one-sided. Across the analyst community, 55 Buy ratings sit next to 7 Hold calls and zero Sell ratings. That unanimity is doing real work in our valuation model, and it lands the 24/7 Wall St. price target well above where shares trade today.
Meta closed Friday near $660.71, and our 24/7 Wall St. price target for the stock is $805.90, implying 24.36% upside over the next 12 months. My recommendation is a buy with a 90% confidence rating.
24/7 Wall St. Price Target Summary Metric Value Current Price $660.71 24/7 Wall St. Price Target $805.90 Upside 24.36% Recommendation BUY Confidence Level 90% A Rebound Off the August Lows Meta has quietly staged a comeback. Shares are up 7.12% over the past week and 14.14% over the past month, though the stock is still down 11.73% year-over-year and hugging breakeven at +0.27% YTD. The 52-week range runs from $519.78 to $788.22.
The Q2 2026 report on July 29 was the pivot point. Revenue reached $60.80 billion, up 27.96%, but diluted EPS of 6.18 came in 14.42% below consensus, ending a six-quarter beat streak.
The miss reflected $2.40 billion in legal charges and $1.18 billion in severance tied to a roughly 8,000-person headcount reduction. More recently, MarketWatch reported that Meta’s rollout of its Muse personal AI agent reignited investor enthusiasm around monetization.
Bull Case Points to $860 and Higher Bulls have real ammunition. On the Q2 call, CEO Mark Zuckerberg said “our ads business is reporting faster year over year revenue growth than any other company’s reported ad business.” Ad impressions grew 14% and price per ad grew 12%.
Advantage Plus is at a $75 billion annual revenue run rate, and business agents on WhatsApp already serve 1 million businesses weekly. Our model’s bull scenario puts META at $860.14 in 12 months.
What Could Go Wrong The bear case starts with capex. FY2026 capital spending is guided to $130 to $145 billion, and Q2 free cash flow collapsed to $784 million, down 91.31%. Operating margin compressed from 43% to 31%.
Youth-related U.S. litigation with trials scheduled for 2026 could also produce material losses. Bulls would counter that excluding legal and severance charges, Q2 operating income would have grown 9% year over year. Our model’s bear case still lands at $704.47, above today’s price.
How Meta Compares to Alphabet and Pinterest Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOGL) is the natural digital-ad comparison. Alphabet trades at a P/E of 15, materially cheaper than Meta’s trailing P/E of 24, and Google Cloud grew 82% in Q2 2026. Meta’s advertising still grew faster (27%) than Alphabet’s overall business (24.23%), which supports the premium multiple.
Pinterest (NYSE: PINS) is the smaller social-ad comp. Pinterest posted Q2 revenue of $1.18 billion, up 18.2%, with 640 million monthly active users. Meta’s 3.60 billion daily active people and full-quarter revenue five times PINS’s annual base show why Meta commands a valuation gap. Against this peer set, our $805.90 target looks reasonable.
Company Forward P/E Q2 Revenue Growth Meta 19 27.96% Alphabet 15 24.23% Pinterest n/a 18.17% Meta Price Prediction 2026-2030 My 24/7 Wall St. price target is $805.90 with a buy recommendation and 90% confidence. The tipping factor is the analyst consensus: 55 Buys against zero Sells is rare in mega-cap tech, and it reflects genuine confidence in the AI-plus-ads flywheel.
I’d be a buyer here if capex discipline holds and Q3 revenue lands in the guided $61 to $64 billion range. I’d stay on the sidelines if operating margin drops below 30% again next quarter.
Year 24/7 Wall St. Price Target 2026 $805.90 2027 $897 2028 $998 2029 $1,110 2030 $1,235 These projections assume Meta continues executing on its AI monetization roadmap and holds ad pricing power. Significant upside or downside could come from enterprise agent adoption or an adverse youth-litigation verdict.

Meta Platforms earns a Buy rating at $648, with a 2029 valuation target of $920 based on normalized EPS of $46 and a 20x multiple. AI-driven advertising improvements have delivered measurable gains, but the investment thesis now hinges on capital efficiency and free cash flow normalization post-2028. META's aggressive infrastructure build has shifted from discretionary to long-term commitments, increasing fixed costs and downside risk if utilization or ad revenue falters.
