eBay táhnou sběratelské předměty, live commerce a AI
EBAY eBay

GameStop’s $2 Billion Buyback Sends a Confusing Signal to InvestorseBay NASDAQ: EBAY outlined its strategy for expanding growth in collectibles, consumer-to-consumer selling, recommerce, live commerce and vehicles during a conference fireside chat featuring Chief Executive Officer Jamie Iannone and Chief Financial Officer Peggy Alford.

Iannone said the company has sharpened its focus around categories and marketplace activities where it sees the strongest momentum. He said approximately 70% of eBay’s business is tied to focus categories, consumer-to-consumer, or C2C, activity, and recommerce. Collectively, those areas grew 20% in the second quarter, according to Iannone.

Recession Indicator: eBay's Stock Is Up More Than 50% Over the Past YearThe CEO also pointed to investments in artificial intelligence, trust tools and shipping capabilities as foundational components of the company’s strategy. He said newer businesses including eBay Live and vehicles are adding growth opportunities, with the vehicles business reaching “hundreds of millions of dollars of run rate.”

Consumer trends and marketplace differentiation Alford said the company continues to see greater consumer resilience in the United States than in international markets. However, she said eBay’s platform can appeal both to enthusiasts making discretionary purchases and to value-oriented shoppers seeking deals through recommerce.

GameStop's eBay Gamble: Bold Move or Balance Sheet Disaster?“We tend to thrive in environments when the economy's doing really well, as well as in times when it's tougher,” Alford said, citing the diversity of the company’s marketplace.

Iannone said eBay’s competitive position is supported by its scale, including 2.6 billion listings, 136 million buyers and 30 years of marketplace data. He said 90% of the company’s listings are “non-new in-season” goods, creating inventory that may not be readily available elsewhere online.

He also highlighted the company’s authentication, vehicle fitment and transaction-support services. These include Authenticity Guarantee in categories such as watches, sneakers and handbags, eBay Guaranteed Fit for motors parts and accessories, and vehicle-related services such as financing, delivery and title transfer.

Collectibles, live commerce and C2C growth Alford said growth in eBay’s focus categories has been broad-based, with particular strength in collectibles. Trading cards have performed especially well, she said, alongside toys and coins. eBay has developed trust and friction-reduction tools for trading cards, acquired TCGplayer and partnered with PSA, according to Alford.

eBay Live, the company’s live-selling format, grew eightfold year over year in the second quarter, Iannone said. He described the format as combining content, commerce, community and entertainment.

According to Iannone, 90% of sellers that begin using eBay Live remain active on the format, and those sellers have growth rates three times higher than comparable sellers not using it. Buyers in collectibles who begin watching eBay Live purchase 70% more than comparable buyers, he said, with a significant share of that activity occurring in eBay’s core marketplace.

The company has also emphasized converting buyers into sellers. Iannone said buyers who become sellers are two to 2.5 times more valuable as buyers on the platform. These C2C sellers can also bring unique goods to the marketplace that may not be offered by traditional businesses.

Iannone said eBay’s AI-powered Magical Listing feature has simplified the selling process. In the U.S., the company has seen 50% more listings per lister using the technology, he said. The company has also expanded shipping tools, including eBay International Shipping, to help sellers access demand outside their home markets.

AI, younger shoppers and advertising Iannone characterized AI as a structural tailwind for the company. Beyond listing tools, he cited natural-language search, card-scanning technology and marketing applications. The company’s card-scanning tool has generated more than 80 million scans, with roughly 500,000 scans per day, he said.

He also said eBay is seeing new buyers through agentic commerce experiences, and that about half of those buyers later return directly to eBay for another purchase. Trust and enablement features become increasingly important in an AI-driven commerce environment, he added.

The company also discussed its acquisition of Depop, which Iannone said strengthens eBay’s reach with Gen Z and millennial consumers. He called those groups eBay’s fastest-growing demographic and said Depop’s mobile, social-focused marketplace is aligned with younger shoppers’ interest in pre-owned goods and sustainability.

On advertising, Alford said eBay had reached 2.8% penetration toward a near-term target of 3%. She said the company does not view that target as a ceiling and sees further opportunity through greater seller adoption of Promoted Listings, new offsite advertising offerings and Promoted Stores.

Capital allocation and priorities Alford said eBay plans to maintain a balanced capital-allocation approach, investing in growth areas while returning capital to shareholders. The company’s framework calls for returning 90% to 100% of organic free cash flow through dividends and share repurchases, she said.

Looking ahead, Iannone said the company is focused on sustaining growth in focus categories, scaling newer businesses such as vehicles and eBay Live, expanding AI applications, and continuing to invest in trust, authentication and shipping capabilities.

eBay odstranil zakázané sady pro určení pohlaví
EBAY eBay
FMP Stock News 78
Original source text
EBay has launched an internal review of its shopping website's safeguards after Reuters flagged that several gender-prediction kits were available for delivery to India, where using them is a criminal offence ‌under a law meant to curb female foeticide.

After Reuters told eBay last week that nine listings on the platform showed gender-testing kits, including those made by brands such as SneakPeek and Peekaboo, being offered by third-party sellers for delivery in India, eBay removed these listings.

"These listings violated local regulations and eBay's policies, and we are reviewing these controls, including the relevant shipping and checkout experience, to determine whether further enhancements are appropriate," eBay told Reuters in a statement.

"EBay has controls in place intended to prevent certain gender-prediction products from being visible in India," it added.

EBay, which has 136 million active buyers globally, is one of the world's largest online marketplaces, where only third-party sellers list products. EBay does not have a local Indian shopping website but offers delivery to the country.

Platforms such as Amazon and eBay (EBAY.O) have previously come under scrutiny in India for listing restricted products, including banned wildlife items and e-cigarettes.

Amazon's U.S. website, which ships many products internationally to India, does list gender-testing products but does not offer India delivery, a Reuters review found.

THE INDIAN LAW
India's 1994 law on prenatal gender determination followed a sharp fall in the number of girls born for every 1,000 boys after the spread of ultrasound technology. Campaigners have said the technology let parents learn a foetus's sex early enough to abort female foetuses rather than raise a daughter.

The preference for male children is rooted in patrilineal inheritance customs, the expectation that sons support parents in their old age and dowry demands made at weddings by the groom and his family despite a decades-old ban on the practice.

Violations of the prenatal gender determination law can attract ‌up to three years in prison, with tougher penalties for repeat offences. India's health ministry did not respond to requests for comment on Reuters findings.

Cybersecurity firm FalconFeeds first flagged the eBay listings to Reuters. The listings offered the gender-testing kits priced from $6.99 to $156.59 and with delivery to India.

One listing on eBay offered the Peekaboo kit, made by U.S.-based DNA Diagnostics Center, and marketed on the website as "get your baby's gender at 6 weeks ... accurate and easy to use", with "FREE SHIPPING".

DNA Diagnostics Center told Reuters in a statement it does not sell or distribute the kits for resale in India, adding it does not control the actions of independent third parties once a product has been purchased.

SneakPeek did not respond to a request for comment.

INDIA TARGETS GOOGLE SEARCH RESULTS
In a sign of New Delhi's growing concerns about such products, Peekaboo — though not officially sold in India — has separately been named in two August 9 Indian government notices sent to Google, seeking removal of search results that link to the company's website.

The notices, reviewed by Reuters and sent by India's health ministry, said Google's India search engine provided "violative information" that led users to web pages "directly or indirectly promoting/advertising the gender prediction of an unborn child."

Search engines can typically block specific website links from appearing in results for users in a given country.

In the notices, the ministry attached screenshots of three Google searches — "peekaboo test," "buy peekaboo test online" and "boy or girl" — that linked to the Peekaboo website. It asked Google to discontinue the practice in line with Indian laws.

A Reuters check on Tuesday found the three searches returned results linking to the Peekaboo website.

Google and India's health ministry did not respond to Reuters queries.

eBay zvyšuje tržby díky sběratelským předmětům
EBAY eBay
FMP Stock News 78

Pokémon cards, vinyl toys, and sports jerseys are some of the hot collectibles that have taken the internet by storm in recent years. Some people spend thousands of dollars on collectible items, while others watch from the sidelines, wondering how much money their old stuff could sell for.

eBay (EBAY +2.22%) has carved a large slice of the collectibles market for itself and looks poised to build on its position. A focus on collectibles is one reason eBay stock has outperformed the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite year to date, a trend that may continue for the rest of 2026.

Collectibles are driving eBay Live momentum
The international expansion of eBay Live is relatively new, but it has already translated into higher user engagement and rising sales. eBay Live is a livestreaming component of eBay that helps people find quality products, and sales of collectibles were a major growth driver.

eBay touted its "unique inventory of curated collectibles and memorabilia" when explaining how eBay Live impacted its business, with events like the World Cup attracting more shoppers. The livestreaming platform's gross merchandise volume grew eightfold year over year across its seven markets.

The end result for the second quarter was 15% year-over-year revenue growth. eBay also generated $552 million in net profit, a 51% increase. Collectibles are playing a role that should expand in future years. Grand View Research projects a 6.9% compound annual growth rate for the collectibles market through 2033.

The e-commerce company doesn't tell investors what fraction of its sales on its platform come from collectibles. However, collectibles are a part of eBay's "focus categories" segment, which exceeded 40% of gross merchandise volume for the first time in Q2. eBay cited "strength across collectibles, eBay Motors, Fashion, and Refurbished Goods" in that quarter's earnings presentation.

Empowering sellers to make smarter decisions with their rare items
Not only does eBay have a lead in the collectibles market, but it's also adding multiple features to preserve its advantage. Its authenticity guarantee was expanded to U.K. trading cards valued at above 500 British pounds. That move, along with the decision to broaden eligibility for its PSA grading option for U.S. trading cards, helps keep fake collectibles off the platform and boosts buyers' trust.

The company also introduced card ladder indexes that help sellers determine the fair value for specific players, characters, sports, and collectible card game genres over time. These tools can help sellers understand the optimal prices for what they own, preventing them from leaving money on the table. And the more that sellers can sell their collectibles for, the more that eBay collects in fees.

eBay also has a collectible segment called Goldin that has become the go-to space for record-setting sales. A Michael Jordan card sold for $4.3 million on the platform, and Wayne Gretzky's Stanley Cup-winning jersey sold for $2.8 million. Such high-figure transactions will make Goldin more attractive to collectors who want to sell high-end products.

The decision to lean into the collectibles market has been quite lucrative for eBay, and will continue to provide a multiyear tailwind that should benefit shareholders.

eBay klesl, BMO čeká 32% růst
EBAY eBay
FMP Stock News 78
Original source text
Shares of eBay (NASDAQ:EBAY | EBAY Price Prediction) currently trade at $110.14, while BMO Capital Markets carries a Street-high price target of $145. That gap implies roughly 32% upside if the bull case plays out.

eBay runs one of the largest online marketplaces in the world, with brands including eBay, Depop, Goldin, and Tise. Wall Street has circled the name as the marketplace executes a turnaround focused on collectibles, refurbished electronics, luxury, and auto parts. The latest quarter showed GMV of $22.4 billion and revenue growth of 14.8% year over year.

The dislocation matters because the average Wall Street target of $110.29 sits essentially at the current quote. BMO stands alone as the outlier bull, and shares have slipped even as fundamentals accelerated.

Why the Stock Slipped After a Strong Quarter Guidance did the damage. eBay guided Q3 adjusted EPS to $1.36 to $1.42, down sequentially from the $1.60 delivered in Q2. Traders read that as management flagging pressure from the Depop acquisition, including integration costs and higher marketing spend for the Gen Z fashion resale platform.

Wells Fargo downgraded eBay to Underweight and cut its target to $92 from $105, citing concerns that Depop could weigh on fiscal 2027 earnings. Shares fell 3.98% over the past month, underperforming the broader market.

The reaction was mild by eBay standards. Shares still sit within reach of the 52-week high of $118.98, suggesting a post-guidance wobble.

BMO’s Bull Case: Focus Categories, Live Commerce, and AI BMO’s Brian Pitz raised his target to $145 from $130 after Q2. His thesis rests on three pillars: Focus Categories now account for over 40% of total GMV and are accelerating; recommerce and live-commerce integrations drive deeper engagement with high-value enthusiast buyers; and generative AI merchant tools pull operating leverage through faster listings, image enhancement, and sharper ad targeting.

The rest of the Street is far less constructive. Consensus ratings currently sit at:

5 Strong Buy 6 Buy 18 Hold 2 Sell Analyst posture leans cautious. Recent revisions have been mixed: BMO raised, Wells Fargo cut, and Citigroup carries a $127 Buy from earlier in the year. The median view essentially matches the current price. BMO provides the optionality.

How Etsy, Amazon, and MercadoLibre Stack Up The peer group has diverged. eBay is the laggard while other marketplaces have rallied or held ground.

Etsy (NASDAQ:ETSY) trades at $82.26 against a consensus target of $77.38, implying roughly 6% downside. Ratings skew Hold at 3 Strong Buy, 6 Buy, 19 Hold, and 1 Sell, and revisions turned defensive after the company announced a 12% workforce cut. Etsy has gained 48.38% year to date, but Wall Street sees no room left.

Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) trades near $272.26 with an average target of $323.29, or about 19% upside. Ratings tilt overwhelmingly bullish at 16 Strong Buy, 43 Buy, and 3 Hold, and recent revisions skewed higher. The implied upside sits well below BMO’s read on eBay.

MercadoLibre (NASDAQ:MELI) sits at $1,830 with a target of $2,214.88, roughly 21% upside. Analysts are bullish at 5 Strong Buy, 15 Buy, and 4 Hold, though the stock has slid 21% over the past year on FX and macro pressure across Latin America.

BMO’s 32% implied upside on eBay is the largest single-analyst call posted on any of these marketplace names. That either reflects a real dislocation or a lonely bet on Depop integration risk.

What the Data Says Right Now eBay trades at $110.14 against a consensus target of $110.29, essentially flat, while BMO’s bull call at $145 implies roughly 32% upside. Coverage totals 31 analysts, weighted toward Hold.

Shares are down 3.98% over the past month and 2.98% over the past week. Year to date, eBay is up 27.24%, more than double the S&P 500’s gain.

Valuation looks reasonable. eBay carries a trailing P/E of 26 and a forward multiple of 18, with operating income growing 39.67% year over year and free cash flow up 173.92%. Management returned $310 million in Q2 buybacks with roughly $2.0 billion still authorized.

The Case For and Against The bull thesis works if Focus Categories and AI seller tools absorb Depop’s near-term drag. The path to BMO’s $145 runs through continued double-digit GMV growth, expanding ad revenue toward the current $596 million quarterly run rate, and further margin gains from AI listings. Q3 results and Depop cohort retention will test the re-rating case.

The bear thesis holds if Depop becomes a distraction just as management started delivering. Wells Fargo’s $92 target reflects that worry. Rising marketing spend, a lower Q3 EPS bar, insider selling, and cross-border trade policy risk all support a wait-and-see stance.

Consensus sits at the price, so the median view is fair value with option value tied to execution. At a forward P/E near 18, capital return intact, and BMO’s 32% upside if the flywheel keeps turning, the risk/reward tilts modestly in the bulls’ favor.

eBay po rekordním čtvrtletí sází na live shopping
EBAY eBay
FMP Stock News 78
Original source text
As eBay tries to keep up with competitors like Whatnot and TikTok Shop, the online marketplace is making a bigger push into live shopping after seeing record results.

During its second-quarter earnings call on Wednesday, the company noted that eBay Live’s gross merchandise volume (GMV) jumped about eight times year-over-year across seven markets, along with increases in viewers, watch time, and items sold. It plans to expand eBay Live to more international markets in the coming weeks and months.

“These results reinforce our confidence that Live can deepen engagement, broaden discovery, and increase velocity across the broader eBay marketplace,” CEO Jamie Iannone told investors.

However, it’s important to note that eBay didn’t share the exact GMV number, making it difficult to assess how significant the growth is.

That said, eBay clearly sees Live as a key growth area, and the feedback from sellers and buyers looks promising. eBay reports that over 90% of sellers who stream regularly have seen their GMV grow, and those who use Live sell about three times more than those who don’t.

Buyers are also spending more. First-time shoppers in the collectibles category are dropping around 70% more than their non-Live shopping counterparts.

eBay launched Live as invite-only in the U.S. in 2022, then expanded internationally, starting with a beta in the U.K. in 2024, and it has since rolled it out in countries like Germany, Australia, France, Italy, and Canada.

Last month, the company moved past its invite-only model and now offers self-service onboarding for eligible sellers in over 300 categories, which include everything from electronics to fashion and collectibles.

The company also pointed to recent product improvements, including discovery features across its homepage and mobile app to make live events easier to find. Iannone added that eBay also simplified event creation, inventory preparation, and live item management for sellers, while improving “bidding responsiveness” to create smoother, faster livestreams.

The growth comes as live shopping in the U.S. moves beyond a niche trend, with more companies beginning to treat it more seriously rather than a side experiment. Even resale giant StockX recently introduced live shopping capabilities. Whatnot continues to find success, with a valuation of more than $11 billion. Additionally, TikTok Shop is reportedly testing a paid membership that offers free shipping and exclusive discounts.

(Nasdaq: EBAY), a global commerce leader that connects millions of buyers and sellers around the world, today reported financial results for its second quarter ended June 30, 2026.

"eBay's second quarter delivered meaningful, broad-based momentum driven by continued innovation and focused execution against our strategic roadmap," said Jamie Iannone, Chief Executive Officer at eBay. "This quarter once again demonstrated our ability to focus on our strategic priorities while still delivering strong growth in operating income and EPS."

"Our second quarter results and continued GMV growth reflect our leadership in the categories that matter most to our buyers and sellers while building an even stronger, more resilient eBay," said Peggy Alford, Chief Financial Officer at eBay. "Given the strong momentum we are seeing in our business, we are increasing our full-year top- and bottom-line outlook."

Second Quarter 2026 Business Highlights

On July 30, 2026, eBay closed its acquisition of Depop Limited (Depop), a leading consumer-to-consumer (C2C) fashion marketplace with a highly engaged Gen Z and Millennial audience, strengthening eBay's leadership in circular fashion and recommerce. eBay Live posted another record quarter, with GMV growing by roughly eight times year-over-year across its seven markets. eBay Live continued to deepen global engagement across categories by delivering timely, high-impact experiences that aligned with major cultural moments like the World Cup. These experiences mobilized enthusiasts across the platform while connecting fans to eBay's unique inventory of curated collectibles and memorabilia. eBay expanded coverage of Authenticity Guarantee to more than 100 fashion brands in the U.S. and U.K. The company also integrated Enquirus, the trusted global database of registered luxury watches, across the U.S., U.K. and Germany, strengthening buyer confidence in eBay's luxury resale offering. eBay reinforced its leadership position in Collectibles by expanding Authenticity Guarantee for U.K. trading cards valued at over £500 and broadening eligibility for its PSA Grading option to include pack-pulled autographed trading cards in the U.S. eBay further enhanced the C2C experience in Australia, streamlining the end-to-end selling experience with AI-powered listing tools, simplified shipping, secure payments and stronger buyer protections. In Motors Parts & Accessories (P&A), eBay launched Easy and Free Returns in the U.K. to give buyers greater confidence through a simpler, no-cost returns experience, and expanded the Guaranteed Fit program to Canada, where it also began automatically enriching listings with fitment data to help shoppers find compatible parts. In Vehicles, eBay introduced new listing capabilities in the eBay mobile app, making it easier for sellers to bring new inventory onto the platform. Additionally, by leveraging AI and automation to simplify the transaction process, eBay significantly reduced the average time to vehicle pickup. The latest generation of eBay's Magical Listing tool was expanded to include all new and reactivated listers in the U.K. and Germany, further accelerating consumer supply by making it faster and easier to list and sell on eBay. eBay's AI-powered card scanning feature recently surpassed 80 million cumulative scans as collectors increasingly used the tool to quickly identify cards, understand pricing and list or shop with greater confidence. The company also enhanced Trading Card listings with richer market pricing insights, including Card Ladder indexes that help collectors track the value of specific players, characters, sports and collectible card game genres over time. Goldin, an eBay company, continued to drive demand for premium collectibles through record-setting sales, including a solo Michael Jordan card for $4.3 million and Wayne Gretzky's Stanley Cup-winning jersey for $2.8 million, the most ever paid for a hockey jersey. eBay returned to the Met Gala for the fourth consecutive year as designers and creators sourced one-of-a-kind pieces for looks worn by SZA, Wisdom Kaye, Paloma Elsesser and others, reinforcing its marketplace as a destination for pre-loved fashion. Impact

eBay released its annual Impact Report, highlighting progress in advancing sustainability, recommerce and economic opportunity. In 2025, eBay maintained 100% renewable energy across its operations and generated $5.3 billion in positive economic impact through recommerce. eBay for Charity enabled buyers and sellers on the platform to raise $58 million worldwide in the second quarter. Highlights included a more than $9 million winning bid for a private lunch with Warren Buffett and Steph and Ayesha Curry that helped raise $27 million for nonprofit organizations GLIDE and Eat. Learn. Play. Additionally, a partnership with The Late Show with Stephen Colbert raised more than $2 million for World Central Kitchen through the auction of iconic Ed Sullivan Theater memorabilia. eBay was recognized with numerous awards, including the Wall Street Journal's Best Companies for the Future, TIME's World's Most Sustainable Companies 2026, U.S. News & World Report's Best Companies To Work For (Overall) and Newsweek's America's Greatest Workplaces in Tech 2026. eBay Inc.
Non-GAAP Measures of Financial Performance

To supplement the company's condensed consolidated financial statements presented in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, or GAAP, the company uses non-GAAP measures of certain components of financial performance. These non-GAAP measures include non-GAAP net income, non-GAAP earnings per diluted share, non-GAAP operating income and margin, non-GAAP effective tax rate, free cash flow and figures in this press release presented on an "FX-Neutral basis." These non-GAAP financial measures are presented on a continuing operations basis.

These non-GAAP measures are not in accordance with, or an alternative to, measures prepared in accordance with GAAP and may be different from non-GAAP measures used by other companies. In addition, these non-GAAP measures are not based on any comprehensive set of accounting rules or principles. Non-GAAP measures have limitations in that they do not reflect all of the amounts associated with the company's results of operations as determined in accordance with GAAP. These measures should only be used to evaluate the company's results of operations in conjunction with the corresponding GAAP measures.

Reconciliation to the nearest GAAP measure of all non-GAAP measures included in this press release, except for figures in this press release presented on an "FX-Neutral basis," can be found in the tables included in this press release. For figures in this press release reported on an "FX-Neutral basis," the company calculates the year-over-year impact of foreign currency movements using prior period foreign currency rates, excluding hedging activity, applied to current year transactional currency amounts.

These non-GAAP measures are provided to enhance investors' overall understanding of the company's current financial performance and its prospects for the future. Specifically, the company believes the non-GAAP measures provide useful information to both management and investors by excluding certain expenses, gains and losses, or net purchases of property and equipment, as the case may be, that may not be indicative of its core operating results and business outlook. In addition, because the company has historically reported certain non-GAAP results to investors, the company believes that the inclusion of non-GAAP measures provides consistency in the company's financial reporting.

For its internal budgeting process, and as discussed further below, the company's management uses financial measures that do not include stock-based compensation expense, employer payroll taxes on stock-based compensation, amortization or impairment of acquired intangible assets, impairment of goodwill, amortization of deferred tax assets associated with the realignment of its legal structure and related foreign exchange effects, significant gains or losses from the disposal/acquisition of a business, certain gains and losses on investments including changes in fair value, changes in foreign currency exchange rates and the impact of any related foreign exchange derivative instruments, gains or losses associated with a warrant agreement that the company entered into with Adyen, restructuring-related charges and the income taxes associated with the foregoing. In addition to the corresponding GAAP measures, the company's management also uses the foregoing non-GAAP measures in reviewing the financial results of the company.

The company excludes the following items from non-GAAP net income, non-GAAP earnings per diluted share, non-GAAP operating income and margin and non-GAAP effective tax rate:

Stock-based compensation expense and related employer payroll taxes. This expense consists of expenses for stock options, restricted stock and employee stock purchases. The company excludes stock-based compensation expense from its non-GAAP measures primarily because they are non-cash expenses that management does not believe are reflective of ongoing operating results. The related employer payroll taxes are dependent on the company's stock price and the vesting of restricted stock by employees and the timing and size of stock option exercises, over which management has limited to no control, and as such management does not believe it correlates to the company's operation of the business.

Amortization or impairment of acquired intangible assets, impairment of goodwill, certain amortization of deferred tax assets and related foreign exchange effects, and certain gains or losses on investments. The company incurs amortization or impairment of acquired intangible assets and goodwill in connection with acquisitions and excludes these amounts from its non-GAAP measures. The company also excludes certain gains and losses on investments. The company excludes the non-cash amortization of deferred tax assets associated with the realignment of its legal structure, which is not reduced by the effects of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, and related foreign exchange effects. The company excludes these items because management does not believe they correlate to the ongoing operating results of the company's business.

Restructuring. These charges consist of expenses for employee severance and other exit and disposal costs. The company excludes significant restructuring charges primarily because management does not believe they are reflective of ongoing operating results.

Transaction related costs. The company may incur significant gains or losses and incremental costs related to the acquisition or disposal of a business, unsolicited proposals and shareholder activism matters. These costs include third party fees such as banker fees, legal and advisory fees and other professional services. The company excludes these items from its non-GAAP measures as management does not believe they correlate to the company's ongoing operating results of the business.

Other certain significant gains, losses, or charges that are not indicative of the company's core operating results. These are significant gains, losses, or charges during a period that are the result of isolated events or transactions which have not occurred frequently in the past and are not expected to occur regularly or be repeated in the future. The company excludes these amounts from its results primarily because management does not believe they are indicative of its current or ongoing operating results. These amounts include changes in fair value and the related change in foreign currency exchange rates of equity securities with readily determinable fair values, globally.

Change in fair market value of warrants. These are gains or losses associated with warrant agreements entered into with vendors, which are attributable to changes in fair value during the period.

Income tax effects and adjustments. We are using a non-GAAP tax rate of 17.5% for evaluating our operating results, up from 16.5% in 2025. This rate could change for various reasons including significant changes in our geographic earnings mix or fundamental tax law changes in major jurisdictions in which we operate.

In addition to the non-GAAP measures discussed above, the company also uses free cash flow. Free cash flow represents operating cash flows less purchases of property and equipment. The company considers free cash flow to be a liquidity measure that provides useful information to management and investors about the amount of cash generated by the business after the purchases of property, buildings, and equipment, which can then be used to, among other things, invest in the company's business, make strategic acquisitions, repurchase stock and pay dividends. A limitation of the utility of free cash flow as a measure of financial performance is that it does not represent the total increase or decrease in the company's cash balance for the period and does not exclude certain non-discretionary expenditures, such as mandatory debt service requirements.

eBay čeká růst tržeb díky AI a recommerce

FMP Stock News 78

Key Takeaways eBay is set to report Q2 2026 results with revenues guided between $2.97 billion and $3.03 billion.Zacks Consensus Estimate pegs EBAY's Q2 EPS at $1.51, up 10.22% year over year.eBay is expected to benefit from focused categories, recommerce, AI tools and expanding live commerce. eBay (EBAY - Free Report) is scheduled to report its second-quarter 2026 results on Aug. 05, 2026.

For the second quarter, eBay expects total revenues between $2.97 billion and $3.03 billion. On an FX-neutral basis, year-over-year revenue growth is anticipated to be 8-10%. The Zacks Consensus Estimate for second-quarter 2026 revenues is pegged at $3.02 billion, suggesting 10.54% year-over-year growth.

eBay’s second-quarter 2026 non-GAAP earnings per share (EPS) are expected to be between $1.46 and $1.51.

The consensus mark for earnings is pegged at $1.51 per share, down by a penny over the past 30 days. This projection indicates a year-over-year increase of 10.22% from the year-ago quarter’s reported figure.

eBay surpassed the Zacks Consensus Estimate for earnings in each of the trailing four quarters, with an average surprise of 4.1%.

Let us see how things are shaping up for the upcoming announcement.

Key Factors to ConsidereBay's second-quarter performance is likely to have reflected continued execution across its strategic priorities, with momentum in focused categories, consumer-to-consumer commerce and recommerce expected to have remained supportive. Demand in collectibles, motors, fashion and electronics may have continued to contribute to marketplace activity, although growth was expected to moderate from the previous quarter given tougher comparisons and normalization in categories such as bullion. eBay Live and the nascent vehicles business may have offered some offset, with Live likely continuing to scale rapidly across international markets.

The company is also expected to have benefited from continued rollout of AI-enabled tools and marketplace enhancements. Broader adoption of Magical Listing and the ongoing expansion of Agentic Search may have supported seller activity, listing creation and buyer engagement. Advertising offerings, authentication services, Guaranteed Fit and cross-border shipping initiatives were likely to have remained supportive of marketplace activity. However, continued investment in AI, marketing and shipping capabilities may have limited margin expansion even as management emphasized balancing reinvestment with earnings flow-through.

Corporate developments during the quarter were broadly aligned with these priorities. eBay expanded its live commerce efforts through additional eBay Live events focused on sports collectibles, a category that has been a key contributor to marketplace growth. The company also announced the global winner of its Circular Fashion Fund, reinforcing its focus on recommerce and pre-owned fashion. Separately, the pending Depop acquisition likely moved closer to completion following regulatory clearances, though its financial contribution was probably limited given the timing near quarter end.

International markets, particularly in Europe, likely continued to face macro headwinds and softer consumer confidence relative to a comparatively resilient US business.

, /PRNewswire/ -- eBay Inc. (Nasdaq: EBAY), a global commerce leader that connects millions of buyers and sellers around the world, today announced that it has completed its acquisition of Depop, a leading consumer-to-consumer (C2C) fashion marketplace with a highly-engaged Gen Z and Millennial customer base.

The acquisition builds on eBay's continued momentum in fashion, a more than $10 billion annual GMV category for the company. With millions of users buying and selling fashion items, Depop has built one of the most vibrant and fastest-growing communities in fashion resale and cultivated a distinct, community-driven platform rooted in discovery, creativity, and peer-to-peer connection. Its highly engaged customer base and accessibly priced fashion inventory make Depop a natural complement to eBay's leading proposition in C2C commerce. eBay intends to support Depop's continued growth while preserving the elements that make the marketplace unique to accelerate the future of circular fashion.

"As a global leader in C2C and recommerce, eBay's acquisition of Depop further strengthens our C2C value proposition. This combines two distinct customer experiences and expands our reach with the next generation of buyers and sellers," said Jamie Iannone, Chief Executive Officer of eBay. "Our goal is to preserve Depop's strong brand, community, and product experience, while helping the team accelerate the roadmap that is already underway and explore synergies with eBay in areas that can supercharge our combined growth potential."

"Joining eBay, a company with a longstanding record of driving innovation in recommerce globally, is an exciting new chapter for Depop and our community," said Peter Semple, Chief Executive Officer of Depop. "We've built a marketplace centered on creativity, self-expression, and connection, and we're just getting started. Depop is a natural fit with eBay and together we can accelerate our growth while continuing to deliver the unique experience our users value."

As part of eBay, Depop will operate as a complementary business, retaining its distinct brand, platform, customer experience, and culture. By combining Depop's category leadership with eBay's global scale and capabilities — including shipping, personalization, compliance, and trusted services — we will enhance the buyer and seller experience and accelerate growth.
