Concentric’s $1.8 million exploiter is tied to OKX and LunaFi incidents, CertiK reports
CTK Shentu
CoinGecko News
Original source text
Concentric Finance’s exploiter is linked to OKX, UnoRe, and LunaFi’s security incidents, reveals a report published by blockchain security firm CertiK on Jan. 22. The ties were uncovered when CertiK identified a wallet used by Concentric’s exploiter that was funded by addresses tied to OKX and UnoRe attacks.

In a Jan. 22 post on X (formerly Twitter), liquidity manager Concentric warned users to avoid interactions with the protocol after identifying a security incident. CertiK identified a suspicious wallet minting CONE-1 LP tokens and using them to drain liquidity from the pools.

Concentric later confirmed that the breach stemmed from a compromised private key of an admin wallet. The attacker transferred ownership to a wallet addressed as 0x3F06, which then initiated the creation of malicious liquidity pools under their control.

This maneuver allowed the attackers to mint an excessive number of LP tokens and withdraw ERC-20 tokens from the protocol. These tokens were then exchanged for Ethereum (ETH) and dispersed across three wallets, one of which is publicly identified as associated with the OKX exploit in Etherscan.

In a sophisticated chain of transactions, almost $2 million was stolen, ranking this as the ninth-largest attack in crypto this month. Notably, one of the wallets, 0xc62A25462A61f02EBAB35Cd39C5E9651426e760b, was instrumental in redirecting user-approved funds from Concentric contracts, converting them to ETH and transferring them to another wallet, accounting for more than $154,000 of the total stolen funds.

Concentric announced a $100,000 bounty pool for any information leading to the recovery of the funds, and its services are halted for an undetermined period. However, investors are still waiting for information regarding how the protocol will respond to this breach and what measures will be taken to prevent future incidents.

The threat of compromised private keys In its ‘Hack3d: The Web3 Security Report’ published Jan. 3, CertiK highlights private key compromises as the most profitable method for exploiters. Six of the ten most costly security incidents throughout 2023 were due to private key compromises, with the total amount stolen from Web3 platforms totaling $880.8 million.

Simultaneously, this attack vector was the least used by hackers in 2023, which might serve as an example of how costly these exploits caused by private key compromises could be.

CertiK Exposes the Underbelly of Fraud Targeting its Brand
CTK Shentu
CoinGecko News
Original source text
CertiK has exposed the deceptive tactics used by fraudsters to exploit its brand.

In the face of a rising tide of scams and exploits, even CertiK, a security firm that specializes in comprehensive security for blockchains, smart contracts, and Web3, is not immune. Scammers are targeting users by fraudulently latching on the company’s brand, which is dedicated to ensuring the security of digital assets and decentralized technologies.

In the latest blog post, CertiK revealed that it is facing a myriad of challenges beyond its primary focus on auditing. Among these challenges are scams that exploit the CertiK brand to spread misinformation and defraud users.

CertiK’s Struggle Against Brand Exploitation One prevalent scam involves phishing sites falsely claiming to have undergone CertiK audits. These fraudulent certifications are used to deceive users into investing in schemes like Wixpool, a fraudulent crypto-mining site. CertiK said it actively reports such sites to hosting providers for takedown, safeguarding users from financial losses.

Scammers perpetrate exit scams by falsely claiming to be audited by CertiK. The Lymex scam is a notable example, resulting in approximately $300,000 in losses. In its new report, CertiK emphasized the importance of verifying audit claims, as in the Lymex case, where no services were rendered due to failed KYC verification.

The rise of social media also gave scammers a platform to create fake profiles impersonating CertiK employees. Platforms like LinkedIn witness scammers brokering fake deals, presenting fraudulent investment opportunities, and even offering fake job positions. CertiK warns users to verify the legitimacy of interactions, citing an incident where a scammer on Telegram duped a project owner into transferring funds.

Bad actors target victims of investment fraud with recovery scams, offering to retrieve lost funds for an upfront fee. CertiK cautions users to be wary of such frauds, emphasizing that its genuine communication is through certik.com. The recovery service, while not guaranteed, involves engaging with relevant parties to retrieve assets potentially.

Bots on X Misinformation and bot activity on Twitter have wreaked havoc for several years, including until Elon Musk took over in October 2022. The subsequent rebranding to ‘X’ has done little to curb the scam bot activity that continues to be a major pain point.

You may also like: Major Figure in $15 Billion Bitcoin Scam Network Arrested in Tokyo Report: Rug Pulls Dominate Crypto Scams, Accounting for 54% of Threats Worldcoin Rival Humanity Protocol’s Token Crashes 88% as $30M Wallet Drain Sparks Security Panic CertiK also revealed observing instances of brand misuse on X, ranging from harmless inquiries to outright scams. The report highlighted the use of bots interacting with posts related to CertiK’s services, clarifying that the project is not affiliated with these posts and does not endorse them.

CoinGecko News
Original source text
Shentu Chain, a proof-of-stake blockchain, is defined as a security-first, authorized chain designed for the reliable execution of mission-critical applications, including DeFi, NFTs, and autonomous vehicles.

Shentu Chain prioritizes cross-chain compatibility as a Cosmos Hub with full EVM and Hyperledger Burrow compatibility, and also eWASM and Ant Financial’s AntChain compatibility. Depending on the security score level, any protocol’s audited blockchain projects may be eligible for ShentuShield membership, a flexible, decentralized reimbursement system for any crypto assets irreversibly lost or stolen due to security issues. ShentuShield memberships are open to all community members of these eligible blockchain projects, providing a safety net for crypto asset holders in case of unexpected events.

Meanwhile, the Security Oracle is created by a decentralized network of operators using industry-leading security technologies to evaluate the reliability of mission-critical smart contracts, such as those used in DeFi. These operators receive CTK rewards in exchange for real-time, updatable scores. The Security Oracle can work with any protocol, allowing its users to make informed decisions before interacting with smart contracts. Smart contracts integrated with the Security Oracle can prevent malicious transactions and avoid crypto asset loss scenarios.

On the other hand, DeepSEA is a secure programming language and compiler toolchain compatible with SVM, EVM, eWASM, and Ant Financial’s AntChain. DeepSEA has received research grants from Ethereum, IBM-Columbia, and Qtum to advance the hyper-secure programming language. When coding in DeepSEA, mathematical proofs are automatically generated to demonstrate the alignment between the intended specification and the actual code, providing greater formal verification and accuracy depth.

Shentu Chain defines itself as one of the technologically advanced blockchain protocols on the market, providing functionality and numerous use cases. The Shentu Chain ecosystem consists of solutions like Security Oracle, ShentuShield, DeepSEA, and Shentu Virtual Machine (SVM), which come together to create a robust blockchain platform applicable not only to DeFi and NFTs but also to innovative products like autonomous systems.

What is Shentu (CTK)?The Shentu Chain token (CTK) was launched in October 2020. However, the project was initially called CertiK and was rebranded to Shentu Chain in September 2021. The rebranding from CertiK Chain to Shentu Chain stemmed from the evolution of the CTK ecosystem. The original CertiK was a relatively simple blockchain protocol, while Shentu Chain is designed to be much more advanced and feature-rich.

The Shentu Chain ecosystem combines various products on a powerful platform that can significantly enhance the efficiency of digital asset usage. The main components of the CTK ecosystem include Security Oracle, ShentuShield, DeepSEA, and Shentu Virtual Machine.

Security Oracle is a dedicated decentralized network that employs state-of-the-art security solutions to enhance the reliability of complex smart contracts used in DEXs, yield farming protocols, and other advanced DeFi dApps. It can integrate with all types of smart contracts, regardless of the protocol they utilize. Security Oracle can greatly improve the security of any DeFi application, and Security Oracle operators can earn valuable rewards in the form of CTK tokens.

ShentuShield addresses one of the most significant issues in the blockchain ecosystem: the inability to recover lost or stolen cryptocurrencies. On a technical level, ShentuShield can be described as a decentralized reimbursement protocol, which acts as a DeFi insurance mechanism. By participating in the ShentuShield program as a Shield Purchaser and paying a small CTK fee, you effectively insure your cryptocurrency. If you decide to join ShentuShield as a Collateral Provider, you can earn passive income in CTK tokens in exchange for allocating some funds that will be used as reimbursement collateral.

Where to Buy CTK Coin?CTK Coin can be safely bought and sold on Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume. CTK Coin is available on the Binance platform in pairs like CTK/BTC, CTK/USDT, CTK/BNB, and CTK/BUSD.

To purchase CTK, you must first register on the Binance exchange. After completing the registration, you should transfer cryptocurrency or fiat currency to your Binance wallet. Once the transfer is complete, you can buy CTK Coin in any of the three pairs mentioned above. For purchasing through the CTK/USDT trading pair, you first need to navigate to its interface. In the limit tab of the CTK/USDT interface, enter the amount you wish to purchase. After specifying the amount, proceed with the CTK Buy order to complete the purchase.

OpenMath goes online, Shentu Chain and Certi join forces to create the first DeSci platform in the field of mathematics
CTK Shentu
CoinGecko News
Original source text
PANews reported on October 13th that Shentu Chain announced the official launch of OpenMath, the world's first DeSci platform focused on mathematics. The platform was developed in a strategic partnership between Shentu Chain and CertiK, the world's largest Web3 security company and a leader in formal verification.

OpenMath is committed to building a DeSci ecosystem centered around verifiable mathematical truth. Researchers and verifiers can collaborate to propose and solve mathematical problems, and then verify their logic using Rocq-based formal verification technology, ensuring rigorous and accurate reasoning with mathematical precision. Participants who successfully complete verification will receive token rewards, effectively integrating transparency in the research process with an effective incentive mechanism.

OpenMath is deployed on the Shentu Chain, formerly the CertiK Chain, which was incubated by Yale University professors Zhong Shao and Ronghui Gu. In August 2021, Shentu officially separated from CertiK and operates independently. The launch of OpenMath is a joint exploration of the application of blockchain and formal verification in mathematical scenarios, based on a new partnership between the two parties.

Shentu Chain and CertiK Unite Blockchain and Mathematics in a DeSci Breakthrough
CTK Shentu
CoinGecko News
Original source text
Table of contents

Shentu Chain and CertiK this week unveiled OpenMath, billed as the world’s first mathematical DeSci platform, opening a new chapter where formal mathematics, verifiable computing and blockchain meet. The launch, announced in a joint release and amplified across social channels, positions OpenMath as a space where researchers and “provers” can raise, collaborate on and verify mathematical problems with solutions recorded immutably on-chain.

At the heart of OpenMath is formal verification: proofs and solutions submitted to the platform are checked using proof-assistant technology so that correctness can be mechanically verified rather than left to informal peer review. Shentu’s materials describe the system as integrating well-known formal tools such as Coq and Lean into a blockchain-native workflow, allowing theorems and their machine-checked proofs to be referenced, validated and preserved on the ledger.

A Natural Home for DeSci  OpenMath is deployed on Shentu Chain, a security-focused Layer-1 that traces its roots to CertiK and the formal-verification research community. The chain itself, rebranded as Shentu in 2021 after incubating out of CertiK, was developed with an explicit focus on verifiable computing and on-chain security tooling, making it a natural home for a DeSci experiment built around mathematical truth.

The platform’s architects say OpenMath was designed with collaboration and intellectual-property protection in mind: a two-phase submission process protects provers’ work while still allowing the global community to participate, validate and build on verified results. By recording provenance, review and verification steps on-chain, OpenMath aims to remove traditional institutional bottlenecks, ensure fair credit for contributors and speed the pace at which rigorous mathematical knowledge becomes discoverable and reusable.

OpenMath’s launch comes as Decentralized Science, or DeSci, gains momentum as an approach to democratizing how research is funded, published and validated. Advocates argue that decentralized networks can expand access, diversify funding mechanisms and make validation processes more transparent, goals that OpenMath explicitly mirrors by combining open access to verified results with on-chain traceability.

Shentu Chain and CertiK framed the release as the continuation of a shared mission to apply blockchain and formal verification to “real-world impact,” and they say further expansions are planned to let researchers tackle increasingly advanced problems and to broaden incentives within the OpenMath ecosystem. For now, the site and platform are live, inviting mathematicians, formal-methods researchers and the wider DeSci community to explore the new environment where mathematical truth becomes a verifiable, referenceable public good.
