United States’ Bitcoin Holdings Top $24 Billion After Ruling Out Buying

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

On-chain data shows the US is one of the world’s largest Bitcoin holders, with its portfolio now exceeding $24 billion. However, recent events have shown that the possibility of the US government increasing its stash is very low. Particularly, the US government’s strategy for cryptocurrency took a new turn this week after Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent clarified that Washington will not be actively buying any additional Bitcoin.

Bessent Rules Out New Purchases But Leaves A Possibility While speaking in a Fox Business interview, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent explained that the government has no plans to buy additional Bitcoin beyond its current reserve. The Treasury chief said the reserve will continue to be funded primarily through assets seized in criminal cases rather than direct purchases. His estimates place the value of the reserve between $15 billion and $20 billion.

Bessent later softened his position on social media, noting that even though the US is not allocating budgetary resources to acquire more Bitcoin, it is committed to “budget-neutral pathways” for expanding reserves to make the country the Bitcoin superpower of the world. The statement suggests that auctions, seizures, and non-traditional acquisitions could still increase holdings in the future, even if the Treasury avoids direct market buys.

Bitcoin Holdings Push Toward $24 Billion Data from blockchain analytics platform Arkham Intelligence reveals a bigger picture than Bessent’s estimates of $15 billion to 20 billion. According to Arkham, wallets linked to the US government currently hold about 198,022 BTC, valued at approximately $23.42 billion. Many of these holdings originated from seizures related to criminal activity, including the well-known Silk Road case.

The portfolio, however, extends well beyond Bitcoin. Arkham’s data reveals holdings of about 59,951 ETH, worth $273 million, along with 347 million USDT and smaller allocations across other assets such as 750 WBTC, 40,293 BNB, 5,205 WETH, and 13.6 million BUSD. Taken together, the government’s digital asset holdings are valued at approximately $24.27 billion. This figure recently climbed as high as $25 billion during Bitcoin’s surge above $124,000 last week.

Source: Chart from Arkham Earlier this year, President Donald Trump signed into law the creation of a strategic crypto reserve, a move many interpreted as the start of government-led Bitcoin accumulation. Trump himself had many investors increase their expectations after stating that the United States would prioritize US-based cryptocurrencies like BTC as part of its financial strategy.

This context is what made Bessent’s recent statement so significant. Although the reserve exists in law, the Treasury has now made it clear that active market purchases of Bitcoin are not on the table for the time being. However, it is clear that the US government isn’t planning to sell its holdings anytime soon, which might flood the market with selling pressure.

Here’s Why Binance Coin (BNB) Hit $1000
BNB BNB BUSD Binance USD USD1 USD1
CoinGecko News
Original source text
TLDR: BNB price crossed $1000 after network upgrades slashed block time to 0.75 seconds and lowered gas fees by 90%. Stablecoin USD1 filled the gap left by BUSD, boosting liquidity and onchain trading activity on BNB Chain. SEC lawsuit dismissal reduced regulatory risk, unlocking demand for BNB from traders and institutions. Billions in BNB burns, new RWA deployments, and venture capital inflows tightened supply and drove price upward. BNB has smashed past $1000, leaving traders asking what pushed the move. The rally did not happen in isolation. Multiple factors across regulation, network upgrades, and liquidity lined up in rapid succession.

BNB Chain projects ramped up activity and demand soared. Legal clarity removed a key overhang, giving the token more room to run.

BNB Chain Upgrades and Higher Network Demand CZ, founder of Binance, pointed to several changes on BNB Chain that helped build momentum. The network cut block times twice, moving from three seconds to under one. Faster confirmations drew in users who valued speed over cost.

Gas fees dropped by 90%, making transactions cheaper for traders. Lower costs helped drive a spike in activity across DEXs and stablecoins. According to onchain data shared by Sakura_XBT on X, daily transaction volume surged past other chains during this period.

Why BNB reach $1000?

Good question. No one knows for sure. Correlation does not prove causation. But here is a incomplete list of possible reasons.

People tend to give me too much credit. I didn't do much. I am not technically involved like Vitalik. I am at best a mascot, but… https://t.co/rvhFA0yxYP

Binance Chain also saw the launch of USD1, its first native stablecoin since BUSD’s shutdown in 2023. This restored liquidity and created deeper markets for DeFi users. Multiple RWA and AI projects went live on BNB Chain, expanding use cases and drawing capital back to the ecosystem.

PancakeSwap, Lista, and other DeFi protocols reported higher volumes as liquidity deepened. The rise of meme coins also brought retail traders back, adding more transactions to the chain.

Legal Clarity and Fresh Capital Inflows Legal pressure on Binance eased after the SEC dropped its lawsuit earlier this year. CZ said this removed concerns about BNB’s status as a security. Traders treated the move as a green light, reducing perceived risk around holding Binance Coin.

BNB Chain burned $1.6 billion worth of BNB in the last quarter, adding deflationary pressure. The reduced supply combined with growing demand amplified the price effect.

Venture firms such as YZiLabs increased investments, incubating dozens of projects on the network. These launches created fresh token demand as builders and traders used the token for fees and liquidity.

Sakura_XBT also pointed out that multiple digital asset treasury buyers acquired BNB in large size. This steady flow of institutional purchases added to price support as the market broke through key levels.

Morgan Stanley raises Micron's price target to $1,200, maintains 'Overweight' rating.

Morgan Stanley released a report raising Micron Technology (MU.O)’s price target from $1,050 to $1,200, while maintaining an "Overweight" rating. The investment bank lifted its fiscal 2027 earnings per share (EPS) forecast for the chipmaker by roughly 40% to $168, and upgraded its free cash flow (FCF) projection from $104 billion to $140 billion. Aligning with Micron’s management, the bank holds that AI will push DRAM demand to consistently outpace supply significantly after 2027. Micron’s last fiscal quarter results matched this trend, with both its quarterly performance and outlook showing notable upside potential.

CBRS trades below IPO price post-earnings: Erases all gains six weeks after listing, two smart money firms net $5.8 million from first-day IPO shorts.

According to Hyperinsight monitoring, Cerebras (CBRS), the AI chip firm previously dubbed "Nvidia’s strongest challenger", saw its stock price fall in stages after reporting its first quarterly results since going public, as negative guidance overshadowed better-than-expected performance. The stock has dropped roughly 22% since the earnings release and officially broke below its IPO price today. On-chain whales are overall bearish. CBRS trades at $184 on the Hyperliquid platform, down 7.7% in 24 hours. Large-scale short positions (million-dollar level) total around $11.62 million, 2.39 times the long positions ($4.87 million). Two major short positions were placed precisely at high levels as early as the IPO day or even before the IPO: - Whale 0xe0ff: Shorted at $284.51 on May 14 with a 3x leveraged position of $6.13 million, generating an unrealized profit of $3.24 million (+104%); - Whale 0x9996: Shorted at $275.92 on May 11 with a 5x leveraged position of $5.48 million, generating an unrealized profit of $2.64 million (+162%). It is learned that both addresses currently hold short positions in both CBRS and SPCX, and have recorded substantial unrealized profits, preferring to place short positions at high levels before or on the day of major stock listings. With the realization of negative earnings news in this round, the combined unrealized profit of the two positions is around $5.88 million. Currently, the average entry price of CBRS short whales is around $275, and the current price is over 30% lower than that. The nearest short liquidation line is at $200.13, about 7% away from the current price.

Multiple high-performing domestic public mutual fund products have tightened their purchase restrictions.

E Fund Management announced in its latest filing that the E Fund Information Industry Select Fund, managed by Zheng Xi, has cut its purchase limit to 10,000 yuan. The same purchase limit reduction to 10,000 yuan applies to another fund under his management, E Fund Information Industry Fund, while E Fund Global Growth Select Hybrid Fund (QDII) has lowered its purchase limit to 10 yuan. In addition, Guolianan Preferred Industry Fund, Harvest Tech Innovation Fund, and Principal Performance-Driven Fund have also announced purchase limits or adjustments to their limits recently. Jin Zicai, a fund manager closely watched by the market, imposed additional purchase limits on multiple public offering funds under his management, with the four funds involved cutting their purchase limits to 500 yuan starting June 23. Purchase limits on high-performing funds likely stem from multiple considerations: they can avoid return dilution caused by short-term concentrated subscriptions, and proactive limits during overheated market conditions also send risk warning signals to the market. As the first half of the year draws to a close, such moves have become increasingly frequent. Overall, Wind data shows that since June alone, 19 funds with year-to-date net asset value returns exceeding 90% have suspended large subscriptions or adjusted their purchase caps. Binance leads market share by web traffic, but developments fail to charm BNB

The world’s leading cryptocurrency exchange, Binance has been on a development spree since the beginning of this year and has continued to push for global dominance. More recently, Binance announced the launch of Bitcoin Options trading further strengthening its hold in the derivatives market. Further, the crypto platform’s Indian expansion also catapulted its dominance in Asia.

Spot volume figures surpassed that of derivatives in March. And the winner among the top-tier exchanges was Binance trading $63.6 billion a surge of 19.2% in March.

However, it was the CoinMarketCap acquisition that shook the crypto world. US-based CMC is one of the oldest and popular crypto data site and it’s not surprising that the acquisition news left the community speculating the consequence of the deal. This not only led to massive discussions and debate but also resulted in Binance receiving the most web traffic amongst all exchanges in Q1 this year.

According to CoinGecko Q1 Report, Binance obtained a total of 66.6 million pageviews, over 4 times larger than Bithumb, Coinbase, or Upbit. Additionally, the platform accounted for over a quarter, i.e.,25%, of the top 20 exchanges web traffic, which happens to be by far the largest percentage. This was followed by the popular derivatives platform, BitMEX with roughly 15.8% of all crypto web traffic of the top 20 exchanges in Q1 2020.

The developments, however, have so far failed to charm the exchange token, BNB. Among the top-7 exchange token listed by CoinGecko, Binance Coin was the only token that flipped towards the negative side. Other exchange tokens such as OKB, Leo, Huobi Token [HT], FTT, all posted double-digit returns in Q1 with the best-performer being the Kyber Network [KNC] which surged all the way to 136%.

The positive price action and the massive returns posted by OKEx’s OKB could be attributed to the token burn earlier this year. The original supply of  OKB was 1 billion tokens. However, 700 million of unissued OKB were burned by the OKEx Foundation in February this year following the launch of the OKChain TestNet.

Similar was the case with Huobi’s exchange token HT which generated around $100 million in revenue from its token burn in January 2020.

Don’t Bail Out MakerDAO
AMPL Ampleforth BNB BNB BTC Bitcoin MKR Maker USDC USD Coin XRP Ripple
CoinGecko News
Original source text
MakerDAO, the “decentralized” bank, went through a mass liquidity crisis. But Maker’s problems extend beyond a single shock—centralization left them doomed from the start.

The 2008 DeFinancial Crisis Have you heard this story before:

Bank finances its investments with an asset, provided by customers. Bank uses those assets to back something else, based on people’s confidence in the collateral. Major turmoil grips the market and the underlying asset becomes unstable. Suddenly, people want their money back. Bank offers some other unbacked guarantee instead to fill the gap, allowing them to profit. Everyone loses, except the bank. The end. Does this sound like something from 2008?

Well, in fact, this story happened just last week. MakerDAO went through its own liquidity crisis. Simply swap ETH for mortgages, DAI for mortgage-backed securities, and USDC for credit default swaps.

Don’t believe me? Maker’s own advertising compares the platform to mortgage-backed loans:

Source: MakerDAO Financialization is a virulent mindset, and MakerDAO is sick with it. Take, for example, the growing evidence of the Maker Foundation’s participation in their own debt auctions. Even if they’re “priming the pump,” such behavior reeks of the same sort of share inflation seen on Wall Street.

The 1% Stands to Benefit from Maker It’s important to ask who benefits from Maker’s success to see where the incentives are. In reality, only a few lucky wallets will benefit from an increase in MKR’s value.

This is evident based on the major tokenholders. Between the MKR Development Fund and primary voting contracts, the top 25 wallet addresses own over 99% of all existing tokens. To make matters worse, the anonymous nature of blockchains makes it difficult to hold these parties accountable.

Though, it is possible to piece together who holds the bags: Dragonfly Capital Partners and Paradigm have acquired a total $27.5 million in MKR—5.5% of global supply. Polychain Capital, a16z and 1confirmation are a few of the other funds who funded MakerDAO.

These funds would like to say they’re helping to build the future of DeFi, but their presence makes the decentralization of the platform questionable. Most crypto enthusiasts don’t have millions to throw around. And, for context, Bitcoin didn’t need venture capital.

Major investors, of course, want their millions protected. So, to stabilize DAI, Maker opened their vaults to USDC. Why is this problematic? USD Coin is a permissioned and censurable asset, which puts the platform at the mercy of governments. May as well back DAI with fiat.

Dai Only works, Until It Matters Maker’s promises are meaningless when USDC can be frozen at the discretion of Circle’s global blacklist.

In the event that DeFi becomes a disruptive force, and financial statutes are enacted to outlaw it, would Maker—and anyone else relying on them—survive collapse? Or, maybe MakerDAO would get sucked into the vortex of traditional finance, making it no better than old institutions it originally sought to replace.

In short, MakerDAO’s “decentralized autonomous organization” is not decentralized, nor autonomous, nor organized. In their desperation to save their platform, its administrators have entirely abandoned the promises that originally drew crypto enthusiasts to their model.

The admins and their supporters would, of course, argue that what they’re doing works. Of course it does. Traditional finance is already proven, and it works—in the short term.

However, in the long run, it’s only a matter of time before abuse takes over the system and brings things crashing down, just like in 2008.

MakerDAO Is Centralized Finance If it isn’t stopped, the same collusion and rampant abuse on Wall Street will pervade DeFi.

By stabilizing their coin with fiat, MakerDAO has signified that they’ve given up. If people in DeFi wanted dollars they would have purchased Treasury Bonds.

Now, MakerDAO’s only innovation has been creating a “bank-on-the-blockchain.” And, as other traditional financial firms consider building their own networks, it stands to reason that Maker’s current path won’t lead to much success.

In the end, people shouldn’t waste their time bailing out MakerDAO when more promising paths to decentralization still exist.

There Is Another Way to DeFi There are several examples of projects doing it right. Kava is a DeFi platform with similar lending facilities to MakerDAO, but it offers loans on a wide range of collateral, including Bitcoin, Binance Coin, and XRP. Notably, the Kava platform is a purpose-built blockchain designed to handle hyper-volatility and intense liquidity events, the same issues that are currently causing problems for MakerDAO.

Other self-stabilizing tokens are being built without the obfuscated centralization of DAI. AMPL, for example, with its internal inflation protocol, allows for an internally regulated economy with less risk of meddling from executives.

This kind of creativity is exactly what DeFi needs. The field will live and die by its tools, and shoddy imitations of current finance won’t do.

Banking, by definition, requires a certain level of administration. Banking is flawed because human discretion is flawed. The boom and bust cycle won’t end until the human component is mitigated.

DeFi allows for this kind of future. More creative, self-governing code can change the face of finance. Players from Facebook to Goldman Sachs understand this. Unfortunately, they’re attempting to pollute the space with “x-on-the-blockchain” projects instead of tapping into the transformative promise of blockchain technology.

In all, MakerDAO’s thinly veiled attempt to make a “bank-on-the-blockchain” is just another vacuum of the imagination. There is another way. Instead of letting this define DeFi, people should make one simple demand: No banks and no gatekeepers.

This time, we don’t have to wait for another collapse and another bail out. It’s possible to use technology to create something entirely new, the world is simply waiting for the right people to make it happen.

Original source text
PANews reported on June 14 that Humanity released an independent investigation report by Quantstamp, which revealed that in the H token security incident, attackers used tools and methods characteristic of North Korean hackers. They communicated via phishing emails posing as the Bithumb exchange, tricking project directors into clicking malicious attachments, thereby deploying remote control Trojans on their devices and ultimately gaining complete desktop control and wallet private keys. Subsequently, they launched on-chain attacks on Ethereum and BNB Chain: on the Ethereum side, they upgraded the contract by stealing keys and transferred approximately 141.18 million H tokens; on the BSC side, they took over the ProxyAdmin contract and minted new tokens. The stolen assets were then continuously dumped on Uniswap and PancakeSwap for about 8 hours, causing a significant impact on liquidity and market prices.

Currently, the H token contract on the Ethereum side has been frozen. The mainnet bridge is unaffected, but the BSC deployment has been taken over by the attackers and they still have minting privileges. The team is working with exchanges and security parties to advance subsequent handling and recovery plans. At the same time, users are reminded to be wary of fake "compensation/claim" links, and the team stated that it will release further updates through official channels.

Previously, it was reported that Humanity Protocol was attacked, and the private key of a Humanity Foundation member was leaked, resulting in the theft of more than $31 million.

Humanity Hack Update: Suspected North Korean Hackers Involved, About 141 million Tokens Stolen and Dumped

Original source text
June 14 — The Humanity Project team issued a statement in the early hours of yesterday regarding a cross-chain attack targeting its H token that took place on June 8. The attacker used a phishing email to gain access to a board member’s device, stealing their private key to execute on-chain transactions. The report noted the attack displayed technical tactics and tooling similar to those linked to a North Korean hacker group. The breach occurred across both Ethereum and BNB Chain. Using the stolen key, the attacker upgraded the Ethereum contract and transferred roughly 141.18 million H tokens. Simultaneously, they seized control of the BSC-side ProxyAdmin contract and minted additional tokens. Over an approximately 8-hour window, the attacker gradually sold these assets on Uniswap and PancakeSwap, disrupting liquidity and harming token holders. The project team confirmed the attack vector was a targeted social engineering phishing email disguised as an update notification from crypto trading platform Bithumb. The victim was tricked into opening a malicious attachment, which installed a remote access trojan that granted full device control, enabling theft of wallet data and private keys. As of the latest update, the Ethereum-side H contract has been frozen via an unaffected multi-signature (multi-sig) mechanism. However, the BSC-side deployment remains under the attacker’s control, leaving open the potential for additional minting. The team is collaborating with exchanges and stakeholders to develop fixes and remedies, and advised users to stay on alert for phishing links and scam messages.

Bithumb was fined for sharing user data overseas without consent.

South Korean regulatory authorities have ordered cryptocurrency exchange Bithumb to pay a 210 million won (approximately $136,000) fine for sharing user personal information with overseas platforms without user consent. According to an announcement released Thursday by South Korea’s Personal Information Protection Commission (PIPC), the relevant user data exposure occurred between September and November 2025. At that time, Bithumb transferred user information to overseas platforms while sharing its USDT market order book data. The PIPC also noted that when assisting users with asset transfers to 13 overseas exchanges, Bithumb failed to obtain full and sufficient user consent before sharing personal details including names, wallet addresses, and dates of birth. For the two violations, the PIPC not only imposed the fine but also ordered Bithumb to rectify its processes and management systems related to cross-border transmission of user information.

Analyst: SK Hynix’s US listing and fund-raising could trigger a valuation re-rating.

According to Bloomberg, SK Hynix is set to issue American Depositary Receipts (ADRs) on the Nasdaq on July 10. The listing aims to raise nearly $30 billion, making it one of the largest ADR issuances in history. Market participants widely believe the move will significantly expand its global investor base and may drive a valuation re-rating. Multiple asset management firms project that if its valuation converges with Micron Technology’s, its share price could rise by 30% over the next year. One fund manager noted that SK Hynix should trade at a valuation at least on par with Micron, as demand for memory chips is likely to outpace supply for years to come. The listing comes amid an unusually strong boom in the memory chip sector. Shares of Micron, SK Hynix, and Samsung Electronics have all surged over 200% this year, marking their best annual performance in decades. Demand for High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) from AI servers is widely seen as the driver of a structural "memory supercycle".

SlowMist’s Cosine Analyzes BNB Chain OLPC/LABUBU Pool Attack: Suspected Pre-Designed Vulnerability
BNB BNB CAKE Pancake Swap
CoinGecko News
Original source text
PANews, June 20 – SlowMist Security founder Yu Xian published a post-mortem on the BNB Chain PancakeSwap OLPC/LABUBU liquidity pool theft, pointing out multiple suspicious manual operations in this attack.

The root cause of the pool being drained lies in an exploitable logic vulnerability in the OLPC token contract: the contract’s _update function, when specific conditions are met, can destroy an amount of OLPC tokens equal to value * decimalsValue. Under normal circumstances, the decimalsValue defaults to 1, but approximately 46 days before the attack, the token owner maliciously modified this parameter to an extremely large value of 7326680472586200649. Several days after the modification, the project party directly discarded the contract owner admin privileges, resetting the authority to the zero address.

After the parameter was tampered with, the fund ratio in the OLPC and LABUBU trading pair became severely imbalanced. The attacker exploited the distorted decimalsValue to trigger the pool reserve destruction logic, exchanging a large amount of LABUBU from the pool with only a small input of OLPC, and ultimately cashed out, transferring out a total of 1.115 million USDT.

Uniswap Pushes Fee-and-Burn to 13 Chains as Binance Net Outflows Signal Accumulation
BNB BNB CELO Celo ETH Ethereum UNI Uniswap
CoinGecko News
Original source text
TLDR: Uniswap’s temp check vote targets BNB Chain, Polygon, and Celo, expanding the fee-and-burn to 13 chains. Every swap generates a protocol fee that bridges to Ethereum and permanently burns UNI at a dead address. CryptoQuant data shows rising UNI net outflows on Binance, pointing to smart money accumulation near lows. The governance vote closes May 21st with 18.1M UNI cast, 100% in favor, and the 10M quorum already cleared. Uniswap is moving to extend its fee-and-burn mechanism to BNB Chain, Polygon, and Celo. A temp check vote is currently underway, drawing strong community support.

Meanwhile, on-chain data from CryptoQuant shows rising net outflows on Binance as UNI trades near its lower price range. Together, these developments are drawing fresh attention to the token’s near-term outlook.

Governance Vote Targets 13-Chain Fee-and-Burn Rollout The proposal, shared via Snapshot.eth on behalf of Uniswap’s governance, aims to bring the fee-and-burn system to three additional networks. If passed, the rollout would cover 13 chains in total.

Every swap on these networks generates a protocol fee, which bridges back to Ethereum and permanently burns UNI at a dead address.

The system has been live since December across Ethereum and nine other networks. BNB Chain and Polygon would connect through Wormhole’s Native Token Transfer setup.

Celo was approved in an earlier vote but failed due to a configuration error. This proposal corrects that path and re-runs the execution.

Forum member Abel189 described the move as “a coherent next step” given Uniswap’s “increasingly multi-chain reality.”

@Uniswap is running a temp check to extend its fee-and-burn system to @bnbchain, Polygon, and @Celo, bringing the rollout to 13 chains.

— Snapshot.eth (@SnapshotLabs) May 20, 2026

He supports incremental, chain-by-chain expansion but flagged growing cross-chain messaging complexity as a key watch item going forward.

L2BEAT’s governance team, including members Kaereste and Manugotsuka, voted in favor after their research team verified the implementation, contracts, and expected governance payloads.

They noted the unchanged fee structure and continuity with the previously approved framework as reasons for their support.

On-Chain Outflow Data Points to Accumulation Activity On the market side, CryptoQuant data on the Uniswap Exchange Netflow chart for Binance is showing notable movement.

As UNI’s price corrected deeply, netflow bars grew denser with large net outflows becoming more frequent. This pattern tends to reflect behavior from longer-term holders and smart money participants.

These outflows typically mean UNI is being withdrawn from Binance and moved to personal wallets for holding. That reduces the available supply on the exchange and lowers direct selling pressure over time. Analyst Rei Researcher noted this trend as a potential setup for an accumulation zone near the bottom.

Source: Cryptoquant

Currently, UNI is seeing a mild price recovery. If the outflow trend continues and exchange supply tightens further, buying demand could push the price higher.

The combination of reduced sell-side pressure and growing protocol utility through the burn mechanism adds a structural layer to that potential move.

The governance vote closes on May 21st at 5:30 PM UTC. As of the latest update, 258 wallets have cast 18.1 million UNI votes, with 100% in favor and the 10 million quorum already cleared.

Uniswap expands protocol fees and UNI burning to BNB Chain, Polygon, and Celo
BNB BNB CELO Celo UNI Uniswap
CoinGecko News
Original source text
Uniswap is pushing its protocol fee system to three more blockchains. A governance proposal posted on May 16 seeks to activate fee collection and UNI token burning on BNB Chain, Polygon, and Celo, bringing the total number of chains with live protocol fees to 13.

The move is part of a phased rollout that started on Ethereum mainnet in late December 2025. Since then, fees have already gone live on nine additional chains including Arbitrum, Base, OP Mainnet, Soneium, X Layer, Worldchain, and Zora. The latest expansion targets three of the most active alternative networks in DeFi.

How the fee structure works Protocol fees on the new chains are set at 1/5 of the pool fee. In English: if a liquidity pool charges a 0.30% swap fee, the protocol takes 0.06% off the top. That ratio mirrors what’s already running on the other integrated chains.

Fees are routed into what Uniswap calls TokenJars on each respective chain. From there, the collected UNI tokens get bridged back to Ethereum mainnet and sent to the 0xdead address, a well-known burn address that permanently removes tokens from circulation.

The Celo activation is actually a fix. A prior governance proposal, numbered #94, contained a configuration error that prevented fees from going live on the network. This new proposal corrects that mistake while simultaneously onboarding BNB Chain and Polygon with fresh TokenJar infrastructure.

Governance moved fast on this one The proposal bypassed the usual Request for Comment stage entirely. Under a framework called UNIfication, the expansion qualified for an expedited governance process: a five-day Snapshot vote followed by an onchain vote. No prolonged debate period required.

Community response has been strongly supportive during the Snapshot voting process.

What this means for investors and traders For liquidity providers on BNB Chain, Polygon, and Celo, the 1/5 fee take means a slightly smaller share of swap fees flowing to their pockets. On a pool with a 0.30% fee, LPs would receive 0.24% instead of the full amount.

The cross-chain bridging component introduces its own set of risks. Bridge exploits have been among the most costly attack vectors in DeFi history. While the TokenJar and bridging architecture has been operating on other chains without incident, every new chain integration expands the attack surface.

Uniswap proposes UNI fee burn for BNB, Polygon, Celo
BNB BNB CELO Celo UNI Uniswap
CoinGecko News
Original source text
Uniswap DAO has unveiled a new proposal to extend its fee collection and UNI token burn mechanism to BNB Chain, Polygon, and Celo, aiming to expand the popular UNIfication program beyond its current scope on Ethereum and other major networks. If approved, this move would integrate three new blockchains into Uniswap’s evolving ecosystem, reinforcing its multi-chain ambitions.

The proposal, titled “Protocol Fee Expansion: Vote 3” (Proposal #96), appears on the Uniswap governance portal and is scheduled for a community vote starting May 24, 2026, according to the Uniswap Foundation calendar. Should the community approve, the fee-burning mechanism—already live on Ethereum, Arbitrum, Base, OP Mainnet, and several others—would now launch on these three additional chains.

Details in the proposal specify that, on BNB Chain and Polygon, fees from v2 pools will be channeled directly to a smart contract called TokenJar, while v3 factory management will transfer to the advanced V3OpenFeeAdapter contract. On Celo, implementation will be more complex due to previous technical issues, requiring the use of cross-chain accounts for some operations.

Glossary: TokenJar and Firepit are key smart contracts for Uniswap’s fee accrual and burning process. TokenJar gathers protocol fees on each chain, while Firepit completes the burn by destroying an equivalent amount of UNI tokens.

The system is designed so that accumulated protocol fees are consolidated in a central account. Users must first burn UNI, after which the burnt UNI is sent to the famed “0xdead” address on Ethereum’s mainnet for finalization.

Impact of the fee burn program on UniswapUNIfication was introduced on Uniswap in December 2025 via community vote, directly linking fee collection and burning to increased UNI token engagement. During this period, UNI rallied from $4.95 up to $9.25 in a short span, reflecting rising interest after implementation.

Back in March, Proposals 94 and 95 saw support from a combined 139 million UNI, enabling the fee collection mechanism to expand across eight further blockchains.

The latest Proposal 96 would bring the total number of UNIfication-enabled networks to eleven. On the activated chains, v2 pools split the standard 0.3% trading fee, with 0.25% going to liquidity providers and 0.05% allocated for the protocol. For v3 pools, fee parameters are set by the new adapter contract per the proposal.

Uniswap’s financial profile and network dataData from Defillama shows that Uniswap’s cumulative protocol fees across all blockchains have reached $5.57 billion to date. Annually, the protocol generates approximately $477 million in revenue, with $3.3 billion currently locked in the platform.

BNB Chain has contributed $117 million in total value locked (TVL) and $3.53 million in protocol fees over the last 30 days, while Polygon accounts for $76.5 million TVL and $1.02 million in fees for the same period. However, fee rewards for UNI holders are not yet distributed on these two networks pending proposal approval.

NetworkTotal Value Locked (TVL)30-Day FeesDistributed to UNI HoldersBNB Chain$117 million$3.53 millionNoPolygon$76.5 million$1.02 millionNoCelo$4.87 million$174,000NoRecent price movements captured by CryptoAppsy indicate that UNI is currently trading at $3.30, a steep decline of 92.7% from its all-time high of $44.97 in May 2021.

As part of UNIfication, a total of 100 million UNI sourced from the treasury were retrospectively burned as a lump sum, calculated to represent fees that might have been accrued from the program’s inception. The proposal was co-authored by Uniswap founder Hayden Adams.

Streamlined governance rolls out for faster changesThe latest proposal implements the expedited governance process introduced with UNIfication. Under this fast-tracked system, fee parameters discussed in the community can progress from a five-day Snapshot poll to an on-chain vote immediately, expediting important protocol updates.

Crypto Market Wrap: Tron Continues to Outperform The Rest

Market Wrap Crypto markets are still sluggish; Tron, Litecoin and Maker moving, Stellar slides and the rest are immobile. Crypto markets are still inactive today as volatility and volumes shrink and red dominates the majority of cryptocurrencies. There has been very little movement in either direction and total market capitalization is still weakened below $115 billion.

Bitcoin hit resistance twice at $3,470 during the past 24 hours, pulling back both times. It is currently trading at $3,460, the same as yesterday with further declines looking likely. On the week BTC has hardly moved at all as it consolidates below $3,500.

Ethereum is still weak at around $107, again with very little activity over the past 24 hours. XRP has fallen back over a percent on the day to below $0.30 as the gap to third place shrinks back to $1 billion.

Most of the top ten is in the red at the time of writing but a couple are bucking the trend and making gains. Tron is the top performer in this section during Asian trading today with a gain of 6%. The momentum is likely to be coming from the BTT token what has increased 600% in price since the ICO last week. Tron has been the top performing altcoin in the top thirty this year and daily volume has doubled to $380 million.

Litecoin has also had a good week with slow but steady gains as it takes and holds sixth spot above Tether. Stellar continues to slide with another 5% lost on the day.

The top twenty is mixed with Maker getting a 6% spike at the moment as it moves up the chart. Binance Coin is also posting a gain of 2.5% but the rest are immobile or falling back slightly.

A very obscure fomo pump has occurred with Bitcoiin (yes, that is the correct spelling), as it surges 350% at the moment. Pundi X and Theta are both having a good day with 15% gains at the moment. Getting dumped is Revain, Nexo and Aurora with 12% losses at the time of writing.

Total market capitalization is pretty much where it was this time yesterday, $113 billion. Daily volume is still the same at $16 billion and things are very quiet in crypto land. There has been very little activity over the past seven days indicating that the next major movement will probably be down again.

Crypto Market Wrap: Maker Moving as Markets Consolidate

Market Wrap Crypto markets consolidating again; Binance Coin, Dash and Maker are moving, the rest slipping slowly. As widely predicted the crypto market pump was just that as things are starting to dump again today. The movements have been minor but the majority are in the red at the moment as market capitalization slips back to $120 billion.

Bitcoin did not get close to $3,700 today so new resistance levels are forming lower again. Around $3,650 seems to be its stability point for the time being but dips are not being supported and Bitcoin could drop lower, it is currently down half a percent on the day.

Ethereum has held on to second place by not moving over the past 24 hours. Still trading at $120 ETH could get some momentum from the Constantinople hard fork which has been delayed until the end of the month. XRP has lost a little more ground today and the gap between the two is currently just over $200 million.

Most of the top ten are falling back during the Asian trading session today. Tron has dropped the most despite the BTT airdrop today as TRX loses 3.5%. Bitcoin Cash is not far behind with a 3% slide. Only Binance Coin is making progress today adding another 2.5% as it closes the gap on Stellar in ninth which has dumped another 2%.

There are two big movers in the top twenty at the moment. Dash and Maker have added a further 7% on the day trading at $83 and $495 respectively. The Maker dev fund was moved to a new multisig wallet two days ago which caused the CMC market cap spike and the flipping of ETC and NEM. NEO and Zcash have also added 3.5% each to their prices over the past 24 hours but IOTA and NEM continue to slide.

There are no major pumps occurring in the top one hundred at the time of writing. Huobi Token is the best performer adding 15% followed by MOAC with a 12% rise. Getting bashed is yesterday’s pump; Quant followed by Revain both shedding 10% in predictable dumps.

Total market capitalization has not really moved overnight and is still at $120 billion. No further gains for the big cap coins look likely so further consolidation is expected in this channel for the time being. Volume is still at $20 billion and markets are still 6% higher than they were this time last week.

Crypto Market Wrap: EOS Spikes 16% in 48 Hours as Digital Assets Regain Momentum

Crypto markets marching upwards again; EOS and Litecoin leading the charge, BNB cools off. EOS up 16% from $3.3 to $3.83 in 48 hours. Market Wrap Momentum is gaining once again on crypto markets following a little cooling off yesterday. Most cryptocurrencies are in the green at the moment and total market capitalization has topped $135 billion for the first time in six weeks.

Bitcoin hit resistance again at $4,000 twice in the past day but it has not fallen back and is holding there at the time of writing. It is currently up 1.3% from yesterday’s minor correction but has failed to break this crucial level. The next move for BTC is likely to be a big one.

Ethereum has regained momentum and has moved up a further 3% on the day to reach $148. ETH remains well supported and the next resistance level is at $150. The gap to XRP is almost $2 billion again as the Ripple token makes minimal progress today.

The top ten is green once again and EOS is the day’s leader with a gain of 8% taking it to $3.90. Litecoin has also had a very strong few hours with 7% added increasing its market cap over $3 billion and breaking through a crucial psychological resistance level of $50. Stellar has also shifted gear today with a 6% rise as it pulls away from Tron.

EOS Surges 16%, Source: TradingView The top twenty is equally buoyant during Asian trading today with everything bar Binance Coin in the green. Maker is yet again the top performer in this section with another 5.5% added on the day. Most other coins here are making 2-3 percent as the rally pushes slowly higher.

REPO and Crypto.com’s MCO token are getting a dose of FOMO at the moment as they both have risen by 20%. There are no big dumps currently but Revain is currently the top one hundred’s worst performer losing almost 5% on the day.

Source: Coinmarketcap.com Total crypto market capitalization is still moving up and has retained momentum. It is currently 2.2% higher on the day as it pushes through a six week high of $136 billion. Daily volume has fallen back below $30 billion though but it has maintained strong levels. Since last Thursday markets have made over 12% and hopes are that this will continue.

Crypto markets have found a new level; Binance Coin pumping hard, EOS and Maker still sliding. Market Wrap Monday’s crypto market dump has found a new level and the selloff has abated over the past 24 hours. This has prevented another huge rout though further losses cannot be ruled out. Total market capitalization has stabilized above $125 billion for the time being.

After dumping $100 yesterday Bitcoin has found a new channel around $3,760 where it has traded for the past day. Daily volume is back up to nearly $9 billion for BTC but it appears to be all bearish at the moment. As predicted Bitcoin fell after failing to break strong resistance at $3,900, all indicators suggest that further losses are imminent.

Ethereum has leveled out at around $127, dropping a further percent or so on the day. All of February’s gains are getting wiped out as ETH continues to weaken and follow in the shadow of Bitcoin. XRP has not fallen in the same magnitude which has reduced the gap between second and third places to just $800 million. The Ripple token is currently trading at $0.305.

Binance Coin price 24 hours. Coinmarketcap.com Only one altcoin is surging in the top ten during today’s Asian trading session and it is developing a pattern of its own. Binance Coin appears to be behaving like a stablecoin; it pumps when markets dump. BNB is currently up 10.5% as it hits an 8 month high of $12.50. Binance boss CZ appears to have taken over from Justin Sun for volume of twitter posts in any given day;

https://twitter.com/cz_binance/status/1102579476917960704

Either way his exchange backed token is flying at the moment as it surges past Stellar and Tron to take eighth spot by market cap which is currently $1.7 billion. Changpeng Zhao’s current AMA and recent DEX announcements are driving momentum for BNB. Tron is the only other altcoin in the green in the top ten as it made almost 3% over the past 24 hours.

Looking further down at the top twenty Bitcoin SV is having a rare bounce as it adds 4% on the day taking its price to $66.50. The rest are still in the red with Maker shedding the most at 5%. Monero, NEM and Zcash are all still weak with further losses of 3% today.

FOMO: MOAC on The Move Today’s fomo induced pump is MOAC which is up 14% at the time of writing. There does not seem to be much driving momentum for this multi-level blockchain scaling platform so it could well be tomorrow’s dump. Also getting a boost at the moment is Loom Network with a 12% pump.

Following a couple of days of fomo, Ravencoin is cooling off today as it becomes the top one hundreds biggest loser dumping 13% on the day. Revain and Bitcoin Gold are not far behind as they both shed 12% making up the only three to drop double digits at the moment.

Total crypto market capitalization has found a temporary floor at $126 billion following the $4 billion dump yesterday. Daily volume has crept back up to $28 billion but signals are bearish and the selloff is likely to continue. Crypto markets are at exactly the same place they were three months ago as the consolidation continues.

Crypto markets pulling back; Bitcoin dominance rising, BNB and Cardano falling, BAT getting attention. Market Wrap Crypto markets have held gains largely thanks to Bitcoin’s rally yesterday. Total market capitalization remains over $180 billion at the time of writing as BTC eats into the altcoins while its dominance climbs to the highest levels this year.

Bitcoin surged through $5,600 yesterday and spent most of the past 24 hours above it. It has started to pull back now though in early Asian trading and was sitting around $5,550 this morning. Volume is currently at a weekly high of $16 billion and momentum has remained with BTC which has increased its total market share. Analysts are expecting a pullback but the correction should not be too severe;

$BTC Daily Chart.

There are multiple Fib clusters lined up at the 5850 area. Not to mention that it rejected at the 127.2 retrace today. IMO, getting close to a local top. Not saying to sell all out, but if me, I would reduce exposure and see what the correction looks like. pic.twitter.com/VP6ZpTIQUN

Ethereum has dropped back to just below $170, it did not react with BTC this time and has remained pretty flat over the past week or so. ETH is falling back to last week’s levels as all gains get wiped out.

Altcoins have not rallied this time around and the top ten is all red today. The biggest two losers are Binance Coin and Cardano which have dumped 6 to 7 percent on the day. The rest have slumped 2 to 4 percent as traders move into Bitcoin or back into stablecoins.

There are only a couple of beacons of green in the top twenty at the time of writing. Monero and Tezos have made marginal gains but all those around them have fallen back. IOTA, Ethereum Classic and Ontology have dumped hard dropping over 6 percent each. The rest are losing 3 to 5 percent during early trading this Wednesday.

FOMO: BAT Back At It There are no major pumps going on in the top one hundred at the moment but the best performing altcoin is Basic Attention Token after a few days of declines. BAT is up 9 percent on the day to reach an intraday high of $0.45. Brave browser ads have gone live according to the Reddit which has driven momentum for BAT again.

Aurora and NULS are making around 8 percent today but there are no double digit gains as most altcoins are getting eaten by Bitcoin. The biggest loser today is yesterday’s fomo coin, DigixDAO dropping 17 percent. Digitex Futures and Revain are also getting dumped doubles today.

Total market cap 24 hours. Coinmarketcap.com Total market capitalization has corrected a little back to $181 billion. Most of yesterday’s gains have been lost by altcoins but Bitcoin is holding on to them at the moment. Market dominance has risen to a four month high of 54.2 percent as Bitcoin controls the markets at the moment.

SBI announced it will acquire cryptocurrency trading platform Bitbank for 46.7 billion yen.

According to Nikkei News, Japanese financial group SBI Holdings announced on the 25th that it will acquire cryptocurrency exchange platform bitbank for 46.7 billion yen (approximately $288 million). Upon completion of the transaction, SBI Group’s crypto asset custody scale is expected to exceed 1 trillion yen, making it one of the largest operators in Japan’s crypto industry. Per the plan, a subsidiary under SBI Holdings will acquire Bitbank shares from individual shareholders including its founders as early as August this year. Bitbank will then repurchase shares held by existing shareholders MIXI and Ceres by the end of October. If combining data from SBI’s own crypto exchange SBI VC Trade and Bitbank, as of April this year, the two firms had a total of around 2.92 million accounts and total custody assets of approximately 1.1 trillion yen. While different crypto exchanges disclose custody assets at varying time points, among Japan’s major industry competitors, bitFlyer held about 960 billion yen in custody assets as of the end of December 2025, and Coincheck had around 800 billion yen as of the end of March 2025.

Jefferies: Samsung is likely to follow SK Hynix’s example to list in the US via ADRs.

Jeff Kim, Head of Research at Jefferies, said Samsung is likely to follow SK Hynix in listing on the U.S. market via American Depositary Receipts (ADRs), which will boost the share price of the South Korean chipmaker whose valuation lags behind Micron. "Chip stocks are at a turning point. ADRs will serve as an important catalyst to drive their valuations," he added.

Alpaca crypto rallies post-listings, but becomes severely overbought
ALPACA Alpaca Finance BNB BNB
CoinGecko News
Original source text
Alpaca Finance token experienced a significant surge this week, reaching a high of $0.227, the highest level since April 8.

ALPACA (ALPACA) rose by over 252% from its lowest point this year, making it one of the top-performing coins of the week. Its market cap climbed to over $37 million, while its 24-hour trading volume spiked to $142 million.

The token’s surge followed the listing of its perpetual futures on Binance, the largest centralized exchange in the industry. This listing potentially exposed the token to over 216 million users on the platform.

In addition to Binance, WhiteBit, a partner of FC Barcelona, also listed Alpaca Finance’s perpetual futures. According to WhiteBit’s website, it recorded a 24-hour trading volume of over $6.5 million.

Alpaca Finance is one of the top Decentralized Finance dApps in the BNB Smart Chain ecosystem with over $55 million in funds deployed across its V1 and V2 networks. It is an alternative to AAVE (AAVE) that lets people borrow and earn rewards.

It is common for altcoins to see substantial gains following their listing on major exchanges like Binance and Coinbase.

Alpaca token gets overbought Alpaca token price | Source: TradingView Alpaca’s price surge coincided with the convergence of two lines forming a falling wedge pattern, a technical setup that typically signals further upside potential.

The token broke above the key resistance level at $0.1940, the highest point on June 5, and surpassed both the 200-day and 50-day moving averages. This move indicates that bullish momentum is currently strong.

Alpaca reached a high of $0.2778, aligning with the weak, stop & reverse level of the Murrey Math Lines tool.

However, there are signs that it has gotten highly overbought. The Relative Strength Index rose to the extremely overbought point at 86 while the Money Flow Index indicator moved to 97.

While these overbought conditions reflect strong bullish momentum, they also suggest that a sharp reversal could occur as the initial excitement from the exchange listings fades. If a pullback happens, the key reference level to monitor would be $0.1940, which aligns with the major support/resistance pivot point of the Murrey Math Lines.

ALPACA price tanks 30% as Alpaca Finance begins wind-down after four-year run
ALPACA Alpaca Finance BNB BNB
CoinGecko News

Once a top protocol on BNB Chain, Alpaca Finance will discontinue leveraged yield farming, stablecoin services, and its perpetual exchange by December.

Alpaca Finance, a decentralized finance project known for leveraged yield farming on BNB Chain, is shutting down after four years — and while the team says it’s the “most responsible” move for the community, the market didn’t take it well, with ALPACA (ALPACA) falling nearly 30% to $0.1126.

In a blog post late Monday, the Alpaca Finance team said it had made “the incredibly difficult decision to begin sunsetting Alpaca Finance and all of its products,” citing shrinking revenue, failed acquisition talks, and the recent delisting of ALPACA from Binance as reasons behind the move.

“This choice wasn’t made lightly, but we believe it is the most responsible course of action to safeguard our community and ensure a graceful and secure wind-down.”

The Alpaca Finance team

Alpaca Finance launched in early 2021 with a leveraged yield farming platform that gained traction on BNB Chain. Over time, the team introduced other products such as automated vaults, an AUSD stablecoin, and a perpetual trading platform dubbed “Alperp.”

However, the launch of concentrated liquidity AMMs “fundamentally shifted the landscape,” the team said, adding that “traditional leveraged yield farming became significantly less compelling and much more difficult to do profitably.”

The team also admitted it had “been operating at a loss for over two years,” even after downsizing, adding that continuing under these conditions “is simply not sustainable.” The Alpaca Finance team says it explored mergers and acquisitions but added that “these deals fell through” as the market weakened in early 2025.

The recent delisting of ALPACA from Binance “was another major blow,” as it “not only limits token accessibility but also restricts our ability to deploy our remaining warchest effectively toward any new initiatives,” the team wrote in the blog post. The shutdown will proceed gradually, with key deadlines set between June and December.

Web3 gaming platforms are blockchain-powered ecosystems that provide gamers and developers with tools to play, create, and trade in-game assets. These platforms prioritize security, transparency, and true ownership of assets, thereby enabling users to retain control over their purchases and sales without relying on centralized intermediaries. This guide highlights some of the best web3 gaming platforms worth exploring in 2026.

KEY TAKEAWAYS
➤ Web3 gaming platforms are blockchain-based ecosystems that enable decentralized gameplay, true asset ownership, and player-driven economies.
➤ These platforms often include a play-to-earn (P2E) model to drive engagement by enabling players to earn and trade in-game assets.
➤ Key factors to consider while choosing a web3 gaming platform include variety in the game library, P2E mechanics, and security, among others.

5 top web3 gaming platforms

1. TikTrix

Native token

$TRIX and $WORM

Launched in

2024

TikTrix is a web3 gaming platform that combines short-form media with casual games to offer a unique, engaging, gamified experience. It is built on the Meer Chain, an Arbitrum-based layer-3 blockchain optimized to enhance scalability, reduce costs, and improve performance.

TikTrix brings along an intuitive swipe-based navigation, gamified content, and a transparent rewards system powered by its native token, $TRIX.

At the core of TikTrix’s infrastructure are Meer Nodes, which decentralize content delivery, validate transactions, and reward contributors. These nodes ensure platform scalability and reliability while enabling participants to earn rewards by staking tokens and supporting the ecosystem.

Developers also benefit from TikTrix’s APIs and SDKs, which simplify the integration of games and features, thereby expanding the platform’s content library.

TikTrix has a dual-token economy, with $TRIX for governance and platform utilities and $WORM for in-game activities.

As of late January 2025, the platform plans to enhance its governance structure, expand the Meer Node network, and introduce a marketplace for token transactions. It also aims to integrate AI-driven tools for personalized gaming experiences and host large-scale gaming tournaments.

Pros

Unique combination of short-form media and casual gaming designed for broad appeal. Built on Meer Chain, a layer-3 blockchain offering optimized performance for web3 gaming. Decentralized infrastructure with Meer Nodes enhancing data storage and reliability. Dual-token system for governance, in-game transactions, and ecosystem stability. AI integration supports advanced analytics and ensures fair gameplay. Cons

Some technical elements, like node operations, may require advanced understanding. ➤ Layer-3 blockchain architecture: Meer Chain promises to ensure faster and more efficient processing for decentralized gaming activities. This could significantly improve scalability and performance.

➤ Meer Nodes: Extend IPFS functionality for decentralized storage of assets and AI training datasets.

➤ Dual-token economy: TRIX powers governance and platform utilities, while WORM facilitates in-game purchases and rewards.

➤ AI-powered tools: Analytics, abuse prevention, and leaderboard systems to create a fair and engaging user experience.

➤ Gamified engagement: Offers challenges and rewards designed to keep players involved and incentivized.

➤ Scalable ecosystem: Built to support global expansion with multi-chain compatibility and advanced blockchain infrastructure.

2. Gala Games

Native token

$GALA

Launched in

2019

Gala Games is a web3 gaming platform that aims to revolutionize the gaming industry by giving players true ownership of in-game assets. It was founded in 2018 by Eric Schiermeyer, co-founder of Zynga, the company behind popular games like FarmVille.

Gala Games combines blockchain technology, NFTs, and player-driven economies to create a unique gaming ecosystem.

The platform hosts a diverse portfolio of titles, including the likes of Town Star, Spider Tanks, and Mirandus — each promising engaging gameplay with ample earning opportunities.

At its core lies the GALA token, used for in-game transactions, governance, and rewards. Players can earn GALA and other game-specific tokens by playing games, owning nodes, or participating in the ecosystem. Gala Games supports decentralized decision-making, with node operators having a voice in platform development.

Pros

Provides players with true ownership of in-game assets using blockchain technology and NFTs. Expanding portfolio of games with engaging gameplay. Community-driven governance through player-operated nodes. GALA token supports P2E mechanics and incentivizes ecosystem participation. Strong leadership team with gaming and blockchain expertise. Cons

High entry cost for some games due to expensive NFTs or required assets. Complexity of blockchain elements may challenge non-crypto-savvy users. ➤ Player-owned economies: Gamers retain full ownership of in-game assets represented as NFTs, which can be traded or sold across marketplaces.

5. Axie Infinity

Native token

$AXS

Launched in

2018

Axie Infinity is another popular blockchain-based gaming platform that merges play-to-earn (P2E) mechanics with engaging gameplay. Players can collect, breed, and battle creatures called Axies, each represented as a unique NFT. These Axies, along with in-game rewards like Smooth Love Potion (SLP) and governance token Axie Infinity Shards (AXS), form the backbone of the ecosystem.

The gameplay includes virtual land ownership, P2E incentives, and a decentralized economy powered by the Ethereum-based Ronin sidechain. Meanwhile, the Axie Infinity Marketplace serves as a hub for buying, selling, and trading Axies, virtual land, and other in-game items.

Initially launched as Axie Infinity Classic, the game transitioned to Axie Infinity Origins in 2022 to enhance gameplay and accessibility. Despite a fluctuating player base in 2025, Axie Infinity remains a significant force in the GameFi space.

So far, this growing ecosystem has contributed to the rise of blockchain gaming by promoting peer-to-peer engagement and empowering players with ownership and autonomy of in-game assets.

Pros

Players own in-game assets like Axies and virtual land as NFTs The Ronin sidechain reduces gas fees and enhances transaction speed for a smooth user experience. Unique and rewarding P2E dynamics. ➤ Smooth Love Potion (SLP): Can be earned through gameplay. You can use this token for breeding Axies or trading on exchanges.

➤ Axie Infinity Shards (AXS): A governance token enabling holders to vote on platform decisions, stake for rewards, or purchase in-game items.

➤ Virtual Land (Lunacia): Tokenized plots where players can gather resources, earn AXS, and upgrade their Axies and base.

➤ Ronin Sidechain: Axie Infinity’s custom Ethereum sidechain reduces transaction costs and enhances scalability.

➤ Scholarship Program: Community-driven model where players can lease Axies to new users, thereby expanding access to the game.

How to choose a web3 gaming platform Considering the abundance of web3 gaming platforms out there — some established, others new and emerging — it makes sense to carefully consider the following factors to ensure the best gaming and investment experience:

Game quality and variety: Ideally, you should look for platforms offering engaging, high-quality games with diverse genres. A platform’s ability to deliver an immersive and engaging experience often reflects its commitment to innovation and player satisfaction.
Ownership and asset utility: You also want to ensure the platform provides true ownership of in-game assets via NFTs. Consider how these assets can be used across different games or ecosystems, as this can significantly improve their value and usability.
Blockchain integration: Check the platform’s underlying blockchain technology for scalability, transaction speed, and low costs. Established blockchains like Ethereum, Solana, or Polygon often provide sound infrastructures.
User-friendliness: A good platform should offer intuitive interfaces, easy wallet integration, and straightforward onboarding to make itself accessible to new and experienced users. Community and ecosystem: Platforms with active communities and strong partnerships often have better growth potential. Look for transparency in governance and opportunities to participate in decision-making.
Security and trust: Make sure that the platform undergoes regular audits and adheres to security standards. A track record of safe transactions and transparent operations is essential. Stay safe when gaming in web3 Web3 gaming ecosystems are still in the early stages of development and can’t yet match traditional gaming platforms in quality or game variety. However, many platforms, including some covered in this article, are making significant progress, with some even working to introduce AAA titles to their libraries. That said, what sets web3 gaming apart is its play-to-earn mechanics and true ownership of in-game assets. These aspects offer a unique appeal that compensates for the current limitations in quality and variety.

Each platform on our list offers distinct features and opportunities. So, start by exploring their game libraries, P2E models, and ecosystem dynamics to find the platform that best suits your preferences. Remember to always prioritize your safety when interacting with web3 platforms and never share your crypto wallet’s private keys or click unverified links.
